He‘s just a fanboy, don‘t blame him 😂👌🏻
Had to do this redraw of the famous Mulan handshake meme because it was so fitting haha.
Somewhere around 1724 in Venice Vladi came to meet Antonio Vivaldi, whose work he adores and which he will love to eternity 😂 Guess he had a crazy fanboy moment there shaking his hand.
He even got an autograph and a short note from him saying „(…) to my biggest fan“ …something along the lines and he still keeps bragging about it hundreds of years later. Mina knows this story inside out but never grows tired of listening to it again 😂❤️
(Vladi is my OC from my novel „A story of blighted souls“)

Please give us som Vlad headcanons!!! :)
Oh boy, you're gonna wish you'd never asked 😆 Long post ahead
🎧 Vlad is a huge fan of 80s synth-pop and new wave. Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Smiths, Duran Duran, Tears For Fears, Pet Shop Boys, a-ha, and New Order, to name just a few.
🎵 On a similar (quarter) note, music from the late 70s and early 80s is still difficult for him to listen to because it reminds him of the years he was pining for Maddie, the accident, and being hospitalized. Mid-80s music and beyond, when he began to take his life back and build his wealth and power, is his "good old days" music.
🎹 Another music headcanon: In Familiar, I hinted at Vlad being a pianist. I think he'd look pretty hot playing a saxophone, maybe even a trumpet. And Martin Mull is a pretty good guitarist and singer, so Vlad also having those talents would be really cool. But I like to believe that Vlad plays the geekiest, dorkiest, nerdiest, most Slav-coded instrument of all: the accordion. Just imagine him torturing Danny and Sam and Tucker with polka music and ballads about cheese while on a camping trip. Maybe Wulf howling in agony from somewhere in the woods.
🧀 Yeah, he’s basically the negaverse equivalent of Weird Al.
👂 Vlad got his ear pierced in the mid-90s.
🔥 Despite being a fire specter ("having a fire core", to use the phandom terms), Vlad loves the cold. Winter is his favorite season, Christmas his favorite holiday. A bit of a spoiler for either chapter 13 or 14 of Familiar: Vlad is a superb ice skater.
💔 Besides his mother, Maddie was the only woman Vlad ever loved.
🐄 Vlad grew up the son of a poor Wisconsin dairy farmer. His mother was a first-generation Romanian* immigrant. He was the first member of his family to go to college, and on a full scholarship. He has no siblings. (*I may adapt Vlad’s nationality depending upon the story/art/situation, but generally I like to HC him as Romanian, which you can see on his backpack here in this AU.)
👊 Vlad was a victim of bullying in his teen years. Because of his first name and his ethnicity—not to mention his appearance and disposition: skinny, gangly, "ugly", shy, nerdy, poor—Halloween was always a miserable time for him: getting pelted with plastic vampire fangs in the hallways at school; cruel nicknames like "Count Vladislob" or "Vladis-louse"; racist remarks about his Romani mother; "Bleh bleh! I vant to suck your bluud!" It was awful.
✌️ Because he spent so many years being made to feel ashamed of his unusual name, when he became rich and successful after obtaining his ghost powers, he put his name and initial everywhere. V for Vlad.
🏈 Vlad got his love of Green Bay from his father. Apart from a shared surname, it was one of the only two (2) things he and his dad had in common.
🔧 Working on farm machinery like tractors and hay balers was the other. Vlad and his dad would often fix the farm equipment themselves rather than hire a mechanic—mostly out of necessity. Vlad is still pretty good with a monkey wrench, though in college his focus shifted from engineering to physics after meeting Jack and Maddie.
🚀 Vlad grew up in the sixties. Space race, the moon landing, the Cold War. Every kid his age had space fever. Vlad was no exception. His bedroom walls were a collage of stars, rockets, shuttles, astronauts, and cosmonauts. Yuri Gagarin was his hero. He wanted to be an astronaut when he grew up. (Just like Danny.)
🩸 I mentioned this on another post, but I'll add it here, too: Vlad's obsession with gaining more power stems from the trauma and weakness he experienced when he was hospitalized. He made a vow to never be that helpless again.
🪦 Both of Vlad's parents were dead by the time he got out of the hospital. He was estranged from the rest of the Masters family and therefore had no one to turn to.
👶 Because of this, Vlad became obsessed with having a family of his own. Ironically, the accident sterilized him. He will never be able have biological children.
🍪 Some of Vlad’s happiest memories are baking with his mother. He had (and still does have) quite a sweet tooth—and a penchant for cooking.

4x04 Review
I thought last week's episode had a lot but I expect things are only going to be ramping up from here because Holy Shit there was a lot going on this episode. "Insane B.S. and Bloodshed" was definitely the right title even if working it into the dialogue was a bit clunky.
As usual, I'm covering each plotline in order of how much I'm rotating them in my mind so here goes:
First up, let's talk about our cliffhanger plot.
The episode picks up right where we left off last week with Stella driving Sadie and Witt somewhere at gunpoint. As they drive, Sadie acts almost nonchalant and tells us that Witt won't hurt either of them and demands more information. Witt does put the gun down and explains his current situation: he doesn't want to kill them, he wants their help. A very scary woman hired him to find a necklace in Geri's house and when he not only failed to find the necklace but tried to hide his failure by faking his death, he got an intimidating message. He doesn't know who this woman is, only that she really, really wants this necklace and Witt's life is in danger until he delivers it.
Sadie is ready to take this to the cops- or at least, to Cordell. She thinks that with Witt alive, there's much less risk of their lives being screwed up by telling the truth. And the cops can protect them from whoever wants that necklace so badly. However, Stella is hesitant. She spent the last few months feeling immense guilt over killing Witt, a guilt Witt is feeling now after killing Jordan in the car accident. She doesn't want to just send him to jail, possibly for life, when it's clear he just needs help. Sadie is willing to humor her for a while but when Stella insists on trying to help Witt rather than helping themselves, she bounces, leaving Stella on her own.
Well, not entirely alone, as August is waiting right outside Stella's dorm looking for the money that Stella got from selling some of August's music stuff. Or at least, that's the excuse he gives at first. In truth, he was worried about her when she wasn't answering her phone earlier and the way she's acting now isn't exactly soothing his concerns. After he reminds Stella of everything they faced together, she decides to let him in on everything that's happening.
Shortly after, Stelle tells Witt she wants to help and he shows up to her dorm room to talk.
Side note: I love the way August put himself in front of Stella.
Next, let's talk about everything with the Jackal.
Once again, we pick up right where last week left off, with Cassie having a freak-out over needing to keep James in the dark. I imagine this is equal parts her not wanting to get in trouble and her knowing how much it hurts to be the one left in the dark on a case like this. Cordell and Trey justify it with how James was before with the Jackal and Kelly asking them to keep it a secret, but she's still not happy about it.
James wants to meet one-on-one with Cordell, so the team has to divide and conquer with Walker keeping James busy, Trey running backup on nightshift, and Cassie meeting with Luna.
Side note: I can't believe James was the voice we heard on the recording.
Luna meets with Cassie and gives her a quick rundown on the Jackal and the motel they're casing out. They have some enjoyable banter while they set up, but Cassie gets defensive when Luna asks her if she's ever worked a serial killer case before. She brings up all her previous experience working non-serial killer cases, which makes me wonder if she'll end up overestimating herself with this case.
Side note: Let's never refer to Vladimir Putin as "Vlady P" ever again. Ever.
Things are going well until they hear something going down outside the room they're in. The gang that's been hanging around the place is getting suspicious of all the "new activity" that night and Cassie and Luna do their best to keep things calm while they help a girl with a missing mother. Unfortunately, drug dealers are unpredictable and we get an quick action scene before the dealers give them info on where the girl's mother went.
When they find the location, Luna talks more about the Jackal's killing methods and how they affect the people around the victims. While he talks, Cassie finds a burial site and they both start digging frantically- and find the girl's mother, buried alive with a Jackal tooth in her mouth.
The Jackal's return confirmed, Cassie calls the case in. First to Walker, who doesn't answer, and then to James.
On a sweeter note, let's talk about James and Cordell catching up. It's a small part of the episode but I felt like it deserved it's own section.
Though Cordell only brought James to the Side Step as a distraction, it was a nice way to catch up with his old partner after the Captain's Conference.
Keeping the conversation light, James brings the conversation to how things are going with Kelly. Now that they're fixing their relationship and entering their second honeymoon phase, James is feeling great. But something is going on with Kelly; she's sleeping in another room and she got rid of all the alcohol in the house. The only thing James can think of is that she's pregnant, a theory Cordell is happy to run with.
We also find out that James and Kelly had previous tried for another child at around the time the Jackal was last seen. Naturally, that attempt at a child didn't work out and he's not sure how to feel now, or how to confront Kelly about it.
After that, the conversation shifts to Cordell and Geri's relationship. Things are also going great there, with them finally saying I love you for the first time and while James is happy to hear that, he owes Kelly $20.
Side note: I love Kelly and James and Cordell's relationship. So much.
Things are going well for both of them and Cordell gets some drinks to celebrate. While he's gone, Cassie calls James with the news that the Jackal is back. Naturally, this kills the mood and Cordell is right there to be on the receiving end of his anger. James feels hurt and betrayed by one of his closest friends and none of Cordell's justifications- never mind that they're James' own- can fix that. For now.
With that, they head the location of the body. The investigation is in full swing and our ranger team has work to do.
This was a crazier episode than I was expecting and I can only imagine the season is going to get crazier from here. There was a big theme of secrets being revealed in this episode, from Witt filling in Stella to Stella filling in August to the ranger team filling in James. Next episode is probably going to be focusing on the fallout from all the secrets. I'm happy to see everyone on the same page again but I wish it had happened differently, especially with Stella and August.
Wishes aside, I have so many questions for next week. Is Kelly actually pregnant? How is James going to handle the Jackal case? How are Stella and August going to keep their own secret under wraps? Is Cassie going to get in over her head with the Jackal? How many more reveals can our Walker Family take?
See y'all next week!

Notes of my first rewatch of Tatort Saarbrücken episode Die Kälte der Erde:
gonna pay attention to the actual case now (update I did. Still not much focus on that in my notes)
why is them sitting in the car feeling so domestic?
I still think that the doctor is too shocked over seeing beer drinking people in the ER, as if that doesn't happen more often.
the giggling/laughing when they don't get the couch through the door
oh yeah Esther and that one girl from the bar definitely had something. Also the post that said "the barkeeper knows it/something" so true
that "Hallo, Mama." is funny
it's not the first time, but that scene in the house made me think that in comparision to the little bit of young Adam we saw in the first episode, adult Adam does seem to have some unhingedness from his father (hate to say it)
I knew I recognised the doctor from somewhere, he was the ghost mentor of Jonas in Anna und die Liebe and he played the pimp in two episodes of the second Doctor's Diary season
they (Adam, Leo &Pia) pretend like being a Fußballfan is something really rare... guys we're in germany. It's not that uncommon!
"heyyy Saarbrücken" - german tumblr once a year
Adam's "same", love it
still lowkey wish they would have danced together at the party ngl
the bridge scene aka divorce part 1
Leo: "sprich mit mir!" I've been often frustrated with Adam not really talking to Leo. Though with the info we get later in the episode, that Adam tried to tell people that he was abused by his father, it does make even more sense that he wouldn't talk to anyone, because nobody believed him back then, why would anyone listen now? (Obviously it's different, but the man never got proper therapy, so how would he know?)
so we have Leo/Notizbuch, Adam/Sporttasche and Pia/sleep deprivation. So what is it for Esther? It's not alloud to be people, so is it Esther/Fußball? Or is it something else?
"Ich kann aber besser schlafen, wenn ich weiß, dass dir nichts passiert." would make me insane in itself, but the tone of voice Vladi is delivering it in makes this line another level. (I swear I've heard that exact tone in conversations between Boris and Tobias aka canon couple Toris from sdl)
"Tiger"-"Miau" I'll never get over it
Personal Funfact: the standard radio station my dad and I would listen to, when he drove me to school had a singing competion with this one song every morning for weeks back in the day. We still nod to each other whenever the song comes up somewhere.
"Ist das dein Partner? Ihr passt gut zusammen" still insane insane insane insane insane
Ok yeah I really need Adam going crazy worrying about Leo because Boris uses him as Adam's pressure point to be a big plot point in the next one now please.
What is Adam's plan with the money though? Like what is he planning to do with it?
"Dann leg das Gartenwerkzeug weg du Vogel" it's the pause before Vogel that makes this truly hilarious
Alina's attitude and look constantly remind me of the kid in Systemsprenger
"Wir stecken da jetzt auch mit drin" ... Foreshadowing?
The hospital scene aka divorce part 2
Adam's face after Leo says "Du weißt ich würde mit dir bis ans Ende der Welt gehen, aber nicht auf diesem Weg." still kills me
"Ich bin da. Ich war immer da." fbrjfjdhsbs
"Adam Schürk, der Mittelpunkt der Welt." - "Deiner Welt vielleicht." Enter Leo's teary eyed look killing me. And the yes nod. Pleeaassee...
"Leo, pass auf dich auf. Wenn ihr ein Paar wärt, dann würde man sagen ihr habt ne toxische Beziehung." Love Leo's reaction to this
Why did you keep the knife?
The cliffhanger aka divorce part 3
The guilty look on Adam's face. He knows he fucked up, he knows and he didn't wanna. Please I can't.
THE END
I have to rewatch all the episodes close to each other (it's been a year/over a year), but I right now I'd say this is my fave out of the four, just because of the amount of insane stuff (and I don't mean in the sense like we had in hds, with the whole frosh and stick thingy) and the amount of Adam/Leo scenes we got.

Before puck drop on the conference finals… group chat wellness check? Especially the Oilers and Maple Leafs. I don’t think there are any Bruins in the gc but watching them hug Bergeron as they left the ice was rough
YOU COME HERE? INTO MY HOUSE BLOG and ask me about the FEELINGS OF THE BRUINS????
No fr fr tho I did see that handshake line and it was very sad.
BUT a wellness check... and a couple of lil spoilers for upcoming gc
Gabe's in surgery - he's recovering, poor Baberiel.
EJ's down in Cali with Paul, holed up and trying not to think about the future.
JT is feeling like the WORLDS WORST CAPTAIN because obviously if he were a BETTER CAPTAIN the leafs would have made it further (he's wrong. It wasn't on him)
Freddie is stressed. Because he NEEDS to prove that he can make it in the postseason but he's not getting as many starts as he WANTS, but also he's won way more games than he's lost. So overall. He's ok
Auston is in carolina, hiding in Fred's apartment. Being his biggest cheerleader and being secretly grateful that they never had to play 5OT
Jacky is mourning the loss of his tooth. Also playoffs are HARD why did nobody tell him that playoff hockey was hard? I mean, obviously he figured it out pretty quickly, but yeah, that's so fucking different to regular season hockey... why did nobody mention it? (spoiler alert, they did)
JSoup is very happy about Jacky's lil tooth gap which he thinks is the cutest thing ever. He lowkey doesn't care about not making it any further because honestly, he wasn't getting the starts and he wasn't expecting the starts and he never knows where he's gonna be, maybe it'll be a cup contender, maybe it won't, he's just along for the ride.
Leon and Connor are fighting, because one of them thinks that they should head down to Florida to support Matthew even though they've only just been kicked out of the playoffs themselves, and the other one thinks they should give themselves a couple of weeks together to lick their metaphorical wounds and just be with each other. It is not the way round we expect.
Jeff is cheering on Carolina like he's never cheered any team on before and if you ask him he'll say it's just because they're his old teammates but truly it's because he just wants the panthers to lose...
Sid and Nate had a brief moment of "should we just go to worlds?" and then decided they were far too old and are on holiday in the sunshine working on their golf
Dylan and Alex are in Toronto chilling with the fam and generally enjoying the off season
Tyler is playing his lil socks off
Matthew is....... Matthew is pretty convinced he's walking around in a dream because none of this actually feels REAL right now. Oh, and also he learnt to advocate for himself a little bit, with some help from his boyfriend
Ritter - is in florida, enjoying "the sun" ;)
Willy and Latts are holed up in their cabin
Jeff and Richie are holed up in THEIR cabin
Danny and Claude would LOVE to be holed up in the cabin, except, well... there are children to look after and they're working hard to give Ryanne a break
Cale is... struggling. Because OK he could feel the team was different from last year but, but, they were the fucking reigning champs, and they lost? In the first round? And he needs to TALK about it, but... he doesn't feel he can talk to Carter because, well, it's a bit shitty to COMPLAIN about losing IN THE PLAYOFFS to someone who's not MADE the playoffs for the past few years
Bobby Lu is having the time of his life
Kaner is sulking. This year did NOT go to plan. Also he's now a UFA... what's with that, he could play ANYWHERE? That's not how hockey's supposed to work... he's a hockey GOD... he's supposed to STILL BE IN THE PLAYOFFS and also he'd very much like to stay in NY please, but he doesn't think that's likely to happen and he really REALLY wants to blame Vladi Tarasenko, if only the fucker wasn't so nice....
Jonny is... dealing with Sulky Peeks. And Baby Pat. And he's still sick, because chronic illness doesn't just Go Away and he's having to make tough decisions and if Peeks could stop trying to make himself the centre of the universe for just one minute... you'd think he'd be used to that by now
Key is having Big Confusing Feelings... nothing new there then. He's in his research era. We stan a man with footnotes.

8 Brief Thoughts About Van Helsing (2016)
It's now been a good chunk of time since Van Helsing (Syfy) final season came out on Netflix, and I would like to take a look back at some things from the early seasons that had such great potential and were ultimately squandered. Maybe one day someone can take some of these good ideas and have another go at it.
As a preface, in general I think that if this show had taken itself a little less seriously, been a little less unironically 90s-comicbook-style edgy, and just had more campy fun, they might've been able to keep the plot from flying off the rails at the end of season 3 and maybe would've been able to keep the MC likeable enough that they didn't have to stuff her in a closet for over an entire season.
And now, 8 things that could have been good:
1. the idea of a reverse vampire (someone who can bite vampires to turn them back into humans). I love the idea of being able to walk up to a classic, arrogant Gothic style vampire who remembers the Crusades and thinks humans are basically cattle, and just absolutely wreck them thematically and literally with just a little ~nibble~
2. Combining the classic "zombie apocalypse with fast zombies" setting (with half-starved feral vampires as the fast zombies), with having actual, intelligent villiand (well, varyingly intelligent) who can have the usual villian hierarchies and dynamics. Like if the various bad guy factions of The Walking Dead were lightly fantasy flavored and also not meant to just further bash into your head that all humans are horrible terrible monsters.
3. On a similar note, just having a show in an apocalypse setting that says "Humans aren't the worst, actually, because the vampires definitely are, and you have to magically and horrifically strip a person of their connection to emotion and humanity to get that". And if that's the opposite of the writers intentions and I've read it completely wrong, then I think they might've chosen being edgy and nihilist over being interesting.
4. Diversity. Not just in the representation of bi women, lesbians, BIPOC actors and characters (I cannot stress enough how big a deal having a confirmed-in-season-one bi female protag was for 2016), but in the in-world diversity of vampire clans/subspecies.
4.5. The Sisterhood. Obviously.
5. Putting a SHOCKINGLY gripping murder mystery in the middle of the first season of your post-apocalypse fantasy show.
5.5. Making Christopher Heyerdahl the murderer. The man never misses when it comes to playing compellingly unhinged characters. If you want a show with a script and plot that doesn't do him dirty like season 4 did, watch the first season of Hell on Wheels.
6. Having your mid-level BBEGs Tragic Backstory be "I was into BDSM in the 1700s and I had HORRIBLE taste in choosing a new dom and now here we are". I'm sorry but that is glorious and I still can't fathom why they waited until we no longer cared about the character to reveal it. They could've played it for comedy, they could've played it for developing the character (trust/control issues etc), and instead we got to wave at it as it passed us by on its way out the window.
7. Lady Dracula instead of good old Vlady, and the Three Spouses of Dracula instead of three wives. Liked the idea, felt the execution was lacking (but, to be fair, it was equally as lacking as everything else plot related in the later seasons). Please, someone just give me a modern Carmilla in vampire fiction.
8. A short list of themes they could have developed or developed better with this setting and these characters, and chose not to:
Human capacity for empathy and connection, and how that relates to ones definition of humanity.
In what ways does the fact that "humanity" can be given or restored in this setting conflict with the characters' assumed definitions of humanity. Further, address the fact that almost every single vampire killed in this series was originally a person who didn't want to be a vampire, and who could have been a human again. What are the personal and moral implications of actively killing a vampire when you could have just as easily turned back? Is there any real difference than just killing a human at that point?
The line between love and obsession/possession and the toxicity therein. After they mentioned that most vamps have a very limited emotional range, I would have loved to see this theme played out more in the vampires who still have close familial or romantic relationships (or, uh, I guess both), especially when you have Phil to contrast it with.
Found family and redemption arcs. Oldies but goodies. The amount of these themes/tropes they did have within the side characters' stories was most of what made the later seasons watchable for me, but I sometimes think we all might've got over the fact that Julius used to eat babies just a little too quickly.

Orson Welles and Alan Webb in Chimes at Midnight (Orson Welles, 1965) Cast: Orson Welles, Keith Baxter, John Gielgud, Tony Beckley, Margaret Rutherford, Jeanne Moreau, Norman Rodway, Marina Vlady, Alan Webb, Walter Chiari, Michael Aldridge, Patrick Bedford, Beatrice Welles, Ralph Richardson (voice). Screenplay: Orson Welles, based on plays by William Shakespeare and the chronicles of Raphael Holinshed. Cinematography: Edmond Richard. Production design: Mariano Erdoiza. Film editing: Elena Jaumandreu, Frederick Muller, Peter Parasheles. Music: Angelo Francesco Lavagnino.  Costume design: Orson Welles Falstaff wasn't the role Orson Welles was born to play, it was the role he grew -- and grew -- into. He knew he wasn't the great actor he wanted to be: There are countless stories of Welles ducking out of rehearsing scenes in which he appeared, using stand-ins to avoid performing opposite actors he respected. According to Simon Callow's Orson Welles: One-Man Band, Jeanne Moreau recalled that she waited several days to play one of their scenes together in Chimes at Midnight, and when she asked Welles why he said that he had lost his makeup kit: "I can't do any scenes till it's found," he claimed. "We'll start with the reverse shots of you, the close-ups," a technique he often used in which someone else would feed his lines to the other actor, so that Welles could later do his side of the dialogue by himself. When Moreau found the makeup kit on the set, an assistant urged her not to tell Welles: "He has stage-fright. He hid it himself." It's likely, however, that once you've seen Chimes at Midnight, Welles's Falstaff is the image of Shakespeare's character that will always stick in your mind. Other actors have played him as reckless, destructive, self-deluding, foolish, slovenly, and even at heart malicious -- justifications for all of these interpretations and more are present in the text. Welles plays him as just one step ahead of everyone else, so that Prince Hal's final repudiation comes to Falstaff not as a surprise or a crushing blow, but rather as a fulfillment of something he has always suspected might happen. The close-up of Falstaff's face after Hal's dismissal reveals not so much shock or disappointment as a kind of hurt mixed with "I thought this might happen" and even a little pride at having played a role in Hal's evolution toward kingship. It's a tour de force of silent film acting on Welles's part: For once he's not relying on the familiar resonances of his voice. The film itself was a famous commercial disaster, abetted by hostile critics such as the always unreliable Bosley Crowther of the New York Times, who scared away many potential distributors. It was caught up in a squabble over rights that kept it from being shown theatrically in Welles's lifetime, and it came into its own after it was restored for video release, which is still the only way most of us have seen it. It's also probably the most successful interpretation of Shakespeare for the screen because Welles was not bound by slavish devotion to the source: He picked and chose lines and scenes from at least three Shakespeare plays (Henry IV Parts I and II and Henry V) and arranged them in ways that suited the screen more than the stage. The Battle of Shrewsbury scene is a masterpiece of planning and editing, still endlessly imitated. But the film is also full of grand performances, including Margaret Rutherford as Mistress Quickly, whose account of Falstaff's death is both funny and heartbreaking, and Keith Baxter as a lively but rather sinister Hal. Welles also showcases John Gielgud better than any filmmaker ever did, allowing him to deliver Henry IV's "uneasy lies the head" monologue in his richly poetic manner, even though the performance is somewhat at odds with the more naturalistic ones of the film's other actors. (It's telling, perhaps, that both Welles and Baxter briefly parody Gielgud's delivery when they come to their mock father-son scene.)

EO:V Paradox Edition 1
I'm trying to play through Etrian Odyssey V yet again (I've still never beaten it) and decided to go for Team Paradox because wow is my hyperfix really hyperfixing lately and just. God I forgot how stupid the turtle encounter is. Under cut for length.

For slight context, you pick which character tries to get the coin from the turtle, but you don't chose who effectively ends the event, so Vladis being the one to speak up was entirely the game's doing. I also had to cut out the choices, but for Tronno it's just picking which direction to 'attack' from and for Najash, I could have had her try to grab it, but that would've just made her lose HP, so I went right for the 'chill the fuck out' option.
Not pictured/described: Marnix laughing his ass off and Tolero putting her face in her hands.
Also, Tronno lost like 40hp from this event, out of a 61hp total. And he's our tank. Why does this event do so much damage.

Episode 3: Meal Planning
My shelves are almost completely empty. Zorgtoeslag deposit is here, which I will use to assemble stock for the long-run (that is the exact opposite of going all out for one special meal). The budget is €155,- (gosh, inflation…). The planning here must ensure I don’t end up throwing things out because I haven’t assigned the ingredient to a dish, and also dishes reaching their maximum contextual tastiness because the plan makes a full circle.
Susceptibility to the algorithms I don’t know but I haven’t eaten Indonesian food in years, and base ingredients are very sustainable, so that is a must. Naughty galia melon taste is a must. The nonchalance of eating kapsalon is a must. The vulgar taste of the combination of cream, meat and cheese on a buttery wrap is a must. Fuet for mitigating Vladi’s levels of testosterone is a must. Some sugary drinks and candies because the overall taste in my mouth must stay on the sweet side otherwise I am more likely to be salty. 🥹 That is the atmosphere from which my selection of ingredients is derived. How much inflation will be a shocker I do not know yet.

I was against vlady boy and his merry men ever since I was following the Russia-Georgia conflict. Many people (including the lolthodox idoits here) forget that vlady boy isn't the based dictator he is. Him and his cronies are very much part of a cosmopolitan elite that feeds off the local population. He propped other "benevolent" dictators like Assad in Syria and Gaddafi in Libya.
Russia's been doing that forever with the propping up other dictators, soviet union was good at that too.
Problem with the 'based putin' bit is that if people didn't get concerned when he danced around the rules after he termed out on being president the first time by becoming PM and having his buddy act as his puppet for their term as president there's not really much that's going to make them stand up and take notice.
Zelensky's no angel either, don't think he's been anywhere near as bad as his predecessor but at a minimum the level of nepotism is a bit much.
If we want to play the lesser of 2 evils game Zelensky's got putin beat by a light year, which given geopolitics in that part of the world for the last several centuries is about as good as you can hope for I think.
Still a couple descendants of dynasties before the Romanov's maybe Russia should see how they feel about a return to the monarchy.
Or if you really need a Romanov relative that bad, could send Prince Charles over there and let William and Kate take over for Elizabeth.
Think it was one of the different monarchs in WW1 was quoted as saying that it was a good thing Victoria had died before it started because she never would have allowed it.
Since she was related to all of them iirc

Forget the Mistletoe | Colton Parayko
Tumblr media
this is another request for an anon! this took me a solid month to write for some reason, so I really hope y’all like it! see you on Monday for the next request!
13. “I don’t need mistletoe to kiss you.”
length: 900 words
You were at the Blues’ team Christmas party at the Tarasenkos’ house, and Vince and Sammy were, predictably, being shits.
They had somehow gotten their hands on some mistletoe– you weren’t sure you wanted to know from where, honestly– and had been running around the house all night, tucking it into random places, and waiting nearby, giggling not at all surreptitiously while they waited for an unsuspecting couple (or couple of teammates) to get stuck underneath it. You were pretty sure Sammy was at least on his third glass of wine already.
You hadn’t been caught under the mistletoe so far, though you had spotted it over no less than three doorways, including one of the bathrooms, from two different ceiling lights, and inside the fridge. (They seemed particularly proud of that one.) As far as you could tell, Colton hadn’t had the misfortune of being caught under the mistletoe yet, either, though he seemed to be diligently ignoring it and the antics of Dip and Shit. People who you had seen stuck so far included: Yana and Vladi; Molly and Tyler, who was enthusiastically and dramatically dipped by Molly; and David Perron, who camped out in a doorway until he could gleefully grab an unsuspecting Jaden.
You settled next to Colton on one of the couches with a fresh glass of wine. He wrapped an arm around your shoulders and pressed a quick kiss to your temple, but he remained deep in a passionate conversation with Marco about...you weren’t sure, actually. Cars, probably. You got pulled into a conversation with Cris and Kelsey about whether or not Cris and Jordan should get a dog.
“Do you need anything?” Colton murmured in your ear as he stood up.
“Bring me some cookies, please?” you asked.
Colton rolled his eyes at you, but smiled. “Of course.”
Cris and Kelsey were still talking– Cris had been easily convinced, though it was Jordan you all knew you’d have to talk into it– but you zoned out a little as you watched Colton duck through a doorway and into the kitchen. Sammy startled everyone when he suddenly shouted.
“Hey! You didn’t kiss anyone!”
“Why are you so fucking loud,” called Steener, but he was ignored.
Colton, who had stopped just a few steps past the doorway, was blushing and doing the thing where he tried to make himself seem smaller than he was.
“There wasn’t anyone else around,” he tried to defend. He was blushing.
“Weak,” put in Vince.
“Yeah, weak,” chimed in Jaden, who had finally recovered from being attacked by Pear.
You took pity on Colton, who was somehow blushing harder, hauling yourself off the sofa and into the doorway where the mistletoe was hanging. His teammates cheered, and you rolled your eyes at them. Colton was still frozen, and you reached out to pull him closer.
“You know they do it because they like seeing you get flustered, right?” you whispered. Colton shrugged.
You grinned as he leaned down to kiss you, but at the least second, he simply pressed a kiss to your cheek instead. You frowned as his teammates, who had been egging him on, booed. Colton ducked his head and made an escape to the kitchen.
You were confused as you made your way back to the couch. Kelsey offered you a sympathetic look and another glass of wine. Sure, Colton had never been huge on PDA, but he’d never not kissed you in front of his teammates before, even on the ice in Boston, or in the days following the Cup win when everyone was drunk and rowdy.
Colton came back some time later and sat next to you again. He had forgotten to bring you cookies, but you didn’t say anything. You were both mostly quiet for the rest of the night, though Colton seemed to be making a point to always be touching you in some way: a hand on your leg or your hip, or his fingers clutching your free hand.
When the night was over and you finally headed home, Colton held your hand across the gear shift while he drove. The radio was on to the Christmas station, filling the silence of the car. He kept holding your hand once you were out of the car and into the house.
“Hey, Colt?” you asked quietly. Colton hummed in response, still not quite looking at you. “Why wouldn’t you kiss me earlier?”
He sighed. “Because I’m an idiot?” You squeezed his hand and pulled him closer again, allowing him to box you in against the wall in the entryway. You were both still in your coats. “I don’t know, the guys were being annoying, and I got nervous, I guess,” he said. You breathed out a laugh; Colton was a lot taller than you, and you had to crane your neck up to look at him this close. He pressed closer, resting the hand that wasn’t already holding yours on your hip. “Besides,” he kissed you, sweet and deep, and you melted into it. “I don’t need mistletoe to kiss you.”
“How long have you been thinking of that line?” you asked, because you couldn’t resist, even if it broke the moment. In the dim lighting of the empty house, Colton’s cheeks looked pink again.
“Shut up,” he mumbled, kissing you one more time.

Back when i cared what my mother thought of me and my creative prospects, aka college, i sometimes read stories to her that i was particularly proud of. This always, always led to more heartbreak and frustration than any real critique could bring, simply bc she had zero concept of what a story is, somehow.
1. When i was actively writing my overwatch fanfic with all my ocs, i told her about the concept for a secret civilization of Australian natives, who, on their own, with their own advanced tech, had discovered an easy cure for most illnesses, including cancer brought on by radioactivity. This was after i had written a paper about the terrible treatment of Australian natives and how they have so often been erased in history, despite being one of the oldest groups of people on earth.
I had explained this all to my mother before explaining my concepts. She proceeded to ask why my civilization had to be futuristic and tech based, and why the native people couldn't just "find a magic root or something" instead of invent their own, superior tech. You know, instead of making them hard working, smart people, give them a magic root that they don't have to think about to use, and is the primary source of power, instead of the people themselves.
Even after explaining that that concept of natives being ~magic~ is white Hollywood bullshit and can be harmful to these groups of people, she couldn't grasp why i would design the civilization the way i did. She genuinely wanted me to change something i had so excitedly shown her, simply cause she was hand fed white culture version of native people and couldn't comprehend anything else in media.
2. I read one of my own original pieces to her, really, REALLY proud of it at the time. She only paid half attention to it, and then at the end said she couldn't follow it because two characters both had names that started with V. The names in question were Vladis, and Vervain. Very different names. Not really any rhyme to them, or matching mouth feel. She told me to change at least one name so it would be easier to follow. All my names are carefully chosen to properly fit character traits, even if you don't know that, i do, and the naming is very special to me. There is purpose to the names.
Big reason why i never shared my story where two characters are named Hokani, and Honani. There's reason for this, but i didn't have the energy to explain to her that their names are important.
3. When i was in high school, and going through very difficult mental illness, i vented through writing darker stories. No, they weren't any good, but writing about characters going mad and suffering through psychosis but still making it out and becoming better for it really helped me through a lot of hard times. The only time I read this kind of this to my mom, she scolded me for writing scary things, and told me to write happy things only.
4. This situation, over and over again without fail:
Mom, walks into my room to check on me: hey, what are you up to?
Me, writing in bed: working on a story, wanna hear what i have so far?
Mom: of course!
She sits down on the end of the bed and settles in as i start to read. A paragraph in, i look up and she's asleep.
5. The genuine shock she'd give any time i tell her about how my fictional world works, because every time, over the course of literal years, she can't fathom that i care so much about the thing I've been working on for so long. The "how do you remember all this?" That she must think comes off as amazed, but really just comes out as confused and honestly, disappointed bc i never put so much thought into, idk, math? As a general rule of thumb it's good to not show shock at how much someone knows about something if you know they've been working on it for years of their life, i think.
But then again, coming from the woman who, when asked point blank, couldn't remember the name of my best friend in high school, the only person who showed up for my sweet sixteen party, who was my writing partner, and who i spent most of my time with, maybe caring so much about something that you remember basic details about it just isn't her forte

RATING! ALL! THE CHAR CLONES!
i love char and gundam loves him too so because i am BORED i'm gonna rate all characters that the wiki tells me qualifies as a char clone!
many of these men will be rated on aesthetics and their wiki blurb alone since i have not watched all gundams
i tried to include pics but it SAID i can only use ten. WHAT? how am i supposed to rate how sexy they are?
Char Aznable
the man. the myth. the legend. i love him so much. hes super fucking hot bc of how bad he is. like an absolute madlad he goes around destroying the zabis and giving amuro hell. hes so good that despite being on team evil he regularly tops popularity polls and is widely regarded as being super attractive. im asexual but i agree. char is supreme. he and his red mobile suits cannot be topped. 20/10
Quattro Bajeena
now, char might be evil, but this guy is totally a stand up dude who is definitely not char. and the hyaku shiki? top tier. also very sexy. maybe char should take a lesson or two from this lovely man. 18/10 could not possibly be char himself
Glemy Toto
i have not watched ZZ. this dude upholds the tradition of stupid ass names in gundam. he just kinda look like hes a good person, though, which would be nice, but i prefer the evil men here. 6/10 love the idiotic name
Afranche Char
apparently a literal char clone. don't give a fuck. 1/10
Carozzo Ronah/Iron Mask
this guy really takes the mask thing seriously. i have also not watched F91. i love the just robot lookin mask and the purple color scheme. 8/10
Anavel Gato
this guy is kind of a chump. i get the feeling i'm supposed to find gato very cool, but all i could see was a total loser pushover as long as it was in the name of zeon. although to be fair, he was basically one of the most enjoyable characters in the mess that is stardust memory. 7/10 too much of a zeon apologist
Chronicle Asher
i called gato a chump but this guy looks like a tool. hes got the mask! i know nothing about victory gundam but this guy looks like, okay. 5/10
Schwarz Bruder
im ignoring the other guy listed with him on the wiki bc Herr Bruder is in fact, awesome. he isn't on team evil like some others, but he doesn't need to be. hes a JESTER NINJA. what's not to love? somehow, despite me thinking i knew the twist that was coming, he was still full of surprises. you cannot possibly predict the actual twist here. he really teaches domon how to get shit done. 15/10 absolutely sublime take on the trope
Zechs Marquise
not only is he voiced by takehito koyasu, but he chars so hard he chars three times as fast! we LOVE his dedication to being a char clone. i will never forget how treize challenged him to a fair fight and he was just like nah lmao. you go you stinky man! 10/10 for char-ing hard
Lancerow Dawell and Jamil Neate
i am fascinated by after war X and i'll watch it one day. it seems like the wiki is confused about these two and is going with very surface level details for these two being char clones. however i'll rate them both higher bc i think mr. neate's sideburns and glasses are just top tier character design. 9/10
Harry Ord
Tumblr media
10/10
Rau le Creuset
i think i saw him in the like three episodes of SEED i watched. he definitely looks the part. seems kinda lame though. 6/10
Athrun Zala
this kid is hilarious, and also the most likable character i met in SEED, and he even has a quattro phase as he goes by alex dino! we'll give him points for effort. 9/10 you tried
Neo Roanoke
definitely not mu la flaga. hes also voiced by takehito koyasu. his mask looks kinda dumb, but i think the long hair look upgrades my man mu. takehito koyasu makes everything sexier. 8/10 bc i also simp for dio brando
Rey Za Burrel
how many char clones does the SEEDverse have? i do appreciate rey's early 2000s brooding anime boy look, though. 5/10
Gilbert Durandal
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY SEED CHARS!!! this guy doesn't even look like a char clone, but he has the same voice actor and also apparently tries to drop shit on earth. we stan a king, honestly. 6/10 being in SEED deducts points
Hal Vizardt and Vladi Zarth
the wiki wont even give me a picture of these guys. 2/10 they get a point each
Ali Al-Saachez
i hate this guy. he sucks. normally i would find such endless villainy entertaining, but ali simply cannot work it in a way that's fun to watch or even in a way where you're like 'he's got a point.' he just sucks and i wish he could have been funny. we already have a char clone in graham anyway, so why are you here? bitch. 0/10 i was waiting for him to die
Graham Aker
he has all the tropes of being a char clone, and i loved him at first bc of his flair for drama and poetry, but alas! he got more and more sidelined for a different motherfucker. it's okay graham, i still love you! your mr. bushido phase was hilarious! 9/10 you deserved so much more
Full Frontal
hes getting points for the hilarious name but thats it. he is otherwise very boring. you cannot make me love a man just bc he is a literal char clone. 3/10
Zeheart Galette
AGE is also on my "deeply fascinated" list. eventually, eventually. i kinda dig this one's look. 7/10
Tatsuya Yuuki
initially, i hated yuuki bc i thought he was beating on middle schoolers for fun, but then i learned the dude is so goddamn passionate about gundam that he HAS to share it with others and honestly? king shit. while he's technically a char clone, i think he's actually a graham aker clone. the dude stans 00. an admirable position to be in. i love yuuki so much and hes my favorite build fighters character. 15/10 i will always respect the meijin
Captain Mask
the name is hilarious. hes got a cool mask too. i'll maybe watch recon one day bc of how ridiculous the reputation is. 8/10
Lady Kawaguchi
the rare female one, and proves that the kawaguchi name requires you to be extra as fuck. compared to yuuki's raw passion, she's cool and knows it, and doesn't need to flex. sadly doesn't get to do a lot. 10/10
McGillis Fareed
MCGILLIS MY BELOVED!!!! perhaps the only char clone that matters. this dude brings back the classic level of backstabbing, the supreme attractiveness, and in general, being an awful person. but i can't help but feel for the guy. he was trying his goddamn hardest to overturn a fucked up system. he also simply could not fathom having friends. mcgillis might only do the mask thing for a little and also wears a wig (McWiggis) but i forgive him, because the moves he does in bael are truly sexy. i adore mcgillis i have to rate him high but he cannot overtake the classic. 19/10 would let him betray me
Kyoya Kujo
even the wiki doesn't seem confident in this one. i like his look though. hes kinda got some gentle eyes, so i will assume he's the more quattro flavor of things. 6/10
Masaki Shido
BRUHHHH HE LOOKS LIKE A KNIGHT. 10/10
Honorable Mentions:
Master Asia
i didn't think he truly qualified as a char clone. he hits the villain thing and technically has some ideals aligned with char ? but he's a little too different. lacks majority of the archetype tropes. i still love him though 9/10
Vidar
hes got a mask and wants revenge. definitely not gaelio. the problem is, we already have mcgillis in IBO. i just don't register gaelio as being a char clone, because mcgillis is out here being the worst. gaelio is a wonderful character in his own right for all the opposite reasons that mcgillis is fantastic for being the worst. 10/10 i want nothing but the best for him
Ulube Ishikawa
just bc he has a mask covering half his face and is evil doesn't mean he's a char clone, wiki! and how dare you take away from schwarz just to be like "well ulube has a mask" WE HAVE ONE ALREADY!!! i also hate ulube. he is not a particularly charismatic character, but he isn't supposed to be. 2/10
and thus is my arbitrary ranking of the char clones. some people think char clones are bad. i for one, love them! i hope future entries have more masked men.

alright boys here we go. good luck in your first game Jake
First Period
aahhhhh it's happening okay here we go
and there goes Brayden fighting the avs.... I mean good job defending Justin's honor but we didn't even get shirtless penalty box content so what is the point
it's been 2 minutes and i am stressed
AAHHH JAKEY!! THAT'S MY BOY! good first shot on his first shift
JUSTIN FAULK YOU BEAUTY!! That was an excellent shot now we just have to keep the pressure
i am so dialed in and stressed i am forgetting to make notes
Rouzy looks good, Jake looks confident, Colton looks healthy
oh Bortz... i mean he just kinda fell down but ugh
Ooooo Jake on the pk
just realized we have a shot counter which is nice
alright boys, Darcy(not gonna try and spell his last name) gives up rebounds so we need to be there to capitalize
oh good job withstanding that hit Jake. first one out of the way
oof Justin you can't do that. gotta get that out. we caught a break though
we love a backchecking Vladi, that means he is engaged and working hard
alright, excellent start but we have to keep the pressure. they started to control it more in the last 10 minutes. we have to stay connected and focused
Second Period
Ope i missed the first few minutes....
boys we can't let them get those stretch passes through
oh come one Jake shoot that puck
HELL YEAH SCHENNER!! way to stick with that play
how did you hurt yourself on that bud?? please be okay
we are working hard which is good to see. winning puck battles and backchecking well
OH YEAH DP BABY!! wicked wrister
Binner has looked so solid tonight
oh that was a pretty play. not much Binner could do on that one
we need to keep pushing
Jake making good little plays
we have had some good stick work tonight
I think Rouzy might be getting tired because he is giving up on pucks a bit and losing some battles he was winning earlier in the game
I haven't noticed Valdi or O'Ry much in this period. I would like a little more from them
ugh Colton you had a perfect face off win for a slapper but you just chose not to. shoot that puck babe
okay not a bad period. just keep pushing
Third Period
good job on torey for winning that puck battle
ahhh Colton smiles
oh come one Barbie you can't do that bud. they are calling all cross checks right now
ooo nice glove save by Binner
holy shit binner that save on Rantanen
the Avs are starting to really maintain pressure now. we need to get out of our zone
oh okay let's see what our power play can do
Saad looking good and winning battles
DP BABY!! PP GOAL FOR THE BOYS
"Neighbours with the simple play to clear the zone" music to my ears
i have been distracted by multiple chats so i have forgotten to take notes lol
the Avs are pushing and have brought it within one
we just need to calm down and stay together
okay even though they have tied it I am still really happy with this game. we had a lot of great things happen and looked really good for a long time
Ooooo wait they called it a kicking motion we just need to lock it down here boys
AHHHH YES RYAN
oh dear lord this was so stressful but i will take the 2 points
Okay boys, good game but we can't let our foot of the gas like that against this team. Amazing first game for Jake. Binner was spectacular. Good job all around

HANNIBAL  &  REPLACING THE FATHER FIGURE.
in hannibal’s life he’s often shown as a calculating individual with a penchant for a bit of pseudo-incest and experimental therapy practices.    he’s shown to have a soft spot for women, usually from the late twenties to late thirties, because his mother was that age when she died and his fixation wasn’t quelled;   he drew in women attracted to his vulnerability and used that for his own personal comfort/sexual gratification.
in both the books and the tv shows/movies, we see hannibal surrounding himself with women.  the first being the lady murasaki, of whom he fell in love with at a young age.   only a few months into living with his uncle roberto and murasaki,  roberto dies from a heart attack and the young hannibal is forced to step into the man’s role;    he fends off offenses for his aunt, even going so far as to kill the butcher that says some racist shit to her in the market.
when he becomes of age, sixteen, the lady murasaki asks him to move into his dorms at school because she feared what he would become if she continued to foster his affection.   even still, upon visiting this dorm (to make sure he’s doing alright) she finds multiple drawings of her on his wall near the bed, one being of her naked from the waist up.
hannibal envisions a future with the lady murasaki,  although his daydreams about such a thing are cut short due to the incident with Vladis and the boat.
clarice is another important link to his story.  with clarice, after the incident at Muskrat Farms, he starts their conversations with light therapy and a sedative, which she rarely notices.  in one instance he leaves her  with her father’s belt buckle, something she’s known since childhood.  when he familiarizes her with thoughts of her father, he introduces the idea that he’s brought her father with him, for clarice to see.   she responds excitedly, like a child, clapping her hands.    doctor lecter put his hands on the sides of starlings head, over her temporal lobes, which could supply her with all of her father she would ever need.  and then he leaves.
starling has a conversation and hallucinates that she’s sitting in the kitchen of her mother’s old house, sharing an orange and a sno-ball with her dad.  she tells him that she misses him and that her work has been down on her, which ends with her father telling her that he’s proud of her.
some days later,  hannibal puts clarice under deep hypnosis with hypnotic drugs and proceeds to ask her about her father;   under his supervision and clear psychological grooming, she begins to pull apart her father -- both as a lawmen and as a family man.     before the EDM and psilocybin treatments,  clarice often regarded her father as someone that could do no bad.
however, with doctor lecter’s therapy, she begins to take apart her father in a way that she could not as an child.   she remarks, herself, that if anybody else spoke about her father this way she would’ve slapped them  ---   she’s still extremely attached, but she’s slowly breaking down his character through intense therapy.
immediately after this, hannibal takes her to a bedroom where her father’s remains are laid out, bleached and cleaned;   the ribs are missing, due to degradation and time, but everything else is intact.   she cries, curled up like  child, and holds her daddy’s skull to her cheek.
clarice tells hannibal,   “i love my daddy, he was as good to me as he knew how to be. it was the best time i ever had.”
which leads into the scene in NBC Hannibal, in which abigail and hannibal are sitting across from one another in his front room.   she admits to him that hunting with her father was the best time she’s ever had, that he loved her in the way he knew how.   we can see a light reflect on hannibal’s face when she stands, which, to me, seem like the EDM therapy light he uses on mariam lass.
we get a shot of abigail holding her father’s deer-antler hunting knife and the clear outline of moth’s on her blouse (which, if you haven’t watched or seen silence of the lambs, is a big nod to clarice’s story) when she comes forward, slitting her father’s throat.   hannibal doesn’t move, having kneeled in front of her chair, and when she stands to kill her father, he continues to stare at the space that she occupied in the chair;  as if abigail is still in the chair.   to me,  i think she was still in the chair and hallucinated herself standing up and slicing hobb’s throat.
we see shots of hannibal and abigail on different days, always talking about garret jacob hobbs, in the same way we see hannibal and clarice speak about her own father.   he helps abigail under the guise of affection and love,  to overcome the barrier that keeps her from moving on.  however, unlike hannibal, abigail has emotion and empathy and she’s clearly driven by her need to belong some place, any place,  really.
hannibal uses that to manipulate her and, despite her efforts to hate will graham, instills a love for him;   he even goes so far as to make her believe that will is an important component in their plan and that they cannot go further without him.  he literally manipulates abigail into loving will graham. i mean, why would she? he literally killed her dad.
whether or not genuine, hannibal often replaces the father figure with himself.   he breaks down character’s by their love for their dead loved ones (just like when he killed the butcher with lady murasaki’s ancestor’s sword, telling her that they would be honored) and sinks his hooks into them.
it’s abundantly clear that he wishes to be a father,  but genetically there are things that he’s doesn’t want to pass on -- his pride won’t let him have children.   he’s proud to be the last of his family line, on both sides, and he won’t share the spotlight long enough to rear an actual child.
in short, hannibal wants to play mommy and daddy.
