Does anyone think about how much the Last Dragonborn changes as their quest goes on?
Not like, character building or learning experiences.
I'm talking about having the ability to eat immortal souls and having to just live with that.
A mortal vessel given the gift (curse) of killing and consuming other immortal beings; personally made by Auriel Himself. What does that feel like to gain the knowledge of eons just shoved right into your brain, willing or not. To have experiences and understandings no one else will ever match with you.
Your only similar peers are your enemies. Destined to fight or dominate all of them as The Last Dragonborn.
What does it feel like to make room in yourself for other souls so much larger than your small, mortal, body?
What does it feel like to be a black hole that will infinitely take and take and take and add more and more to your being.
Are you yourself anymore? Do those dragon souls persist inside you?
Are you even mortal anymore?
#shady speak#skyrim#tes#i have big thoughts and big feelings about dragon souls and their immortal properties#because there is no way that a dragon soul is consumed and just becomes free knowledge in the Dragonborn to use as skill points for shouts#there has to be other consequences to eating a soul that was made first personally by Auriel#for good or for ill

The JJK x TWST crossover that started living rent free in my head >:'D
Random Doodle Edition
Ahem, so, uhh, turns out the characters of Jujutsu Kaisen fit pretty well as Night Raven College students, temperament-wise, and that was all the excuse I needed. Yes the ages get funky but whatever. Happy high school AU except they still get cool powers and Trauma(tm). Just less than JJK canon so I count it as a win.
I also may or may not have written an entire oneshot (here on AO3) for some freshmen Satoru & Suguru bonding, featuring me still bullying Satoru over his funky eyes.
Image Text (and me rambling more) underneath the cut
-
Gojo Satoru (of the Jupiter Clan)
Ignihyde Housewarden Year: Junior Species: Sky Dragon (Fae) Club: Movie Analysis Club Unique Magic: Six Eyes—pretty much just like canon Six Eyes. They can see far and wide and out of normal sight, and they can see magic in a highly detailed manner. They are also powered by magic that just, never stops ever, so he can decrease or increase the power/range at will to a degree, but technically, cutting off magic from them altogether will blind him. Also he has an inherited magic that he by no means asked for, which is, sad drumroll, Gate of the Underworld. (There are no shrouds in this AU, just me finding ways to forever make Satoru instrumental to the well-being of the world to his own detriment. I have waaaaay more thoughts about the "Jupiter Clan of dragons" and what that actually entails, but they are still jumbled and shifting, so. Maybe later.)
-
Geto Suguru (of the Draconia Clan)
Diasomnia Housewarden Year: Junior Species: Night Dragon (Fae) Club: Equestrian Club Unique Magic: Magic-eater—can consume and nullify any spell and gain its base magic. With minimum side effects. Mostly. :)
-
Satoru and Suguru are their usual brand of special-grade menaces, being the only two adolescent dragon fae in the world, buttttt they still inevitably become besties. With Shoko too, of course, who has no fear and will mess with them as they see fit.
Suguru is essentially Malleus in this AU, though in Suguru-fashion, he's way more stubborn when it comes to trying to catch up. (Translating him being new to sorcery to being new to technology was surprisingly low-hanging fruit.) Meanwhile I borrowed the Jupiter name/legacy because it was fitting and made the Gojo Clan into a long-lived dynasty of antisocial dragons who fist-fight and deal with Phantoms and recently accidentally became a tech empire, which is pretty close to the Sorcerer Family vibe a la TWST, if I say so myself.
There's definitely a lot of backstory I have in mind for the two of them. Neither of them beat teen parenthood (they are currently Malleus-aged, so 178 years old, but that's still teenagehood for a dragon/fae) and acquired children through various means, much to the consternation of their elders/court. I might develop/write more solid ideas later, but Suguru has a reverse characterization moment when he finds two starved/beaten human children (the twins) and begins his journey of losing all intrinsic racism via love, and Satoru still somehow gets his shit wrecked by Toji (probably a heist gone violent or something) and then finds out he had abandoned children: human Tsumiki and half-fae Megumi.
-
Nobara Orientation Comic:
Nobara: Obviously, I'm going to get ~Pomefiore~ because I'm elegant and graceful. (And a badass queen, of course)
Mirror: The nature of your soul is... Savanaclaw
Nobara, getting dragged away from the Mirror by Maki: HEY WAIT A MINUTE! STOP MESSING WITH ME YOU DIRTY SMUGED HUNK OF JUNK AND I'LL SHOW YOU WHAT I THINK OF—
(Nobara gets her reverse-Epel moment, but she adapts quickly. Especially because she still comes to have mad respect for Maki.)
-
Ieri Shoko
Ignihyde Vice-Housewarden Year: Junior Species: Merfolk (Nurse Shark) Club: Science Club Unique Magic: Reverse—rewinds a target to its previous state within twenty four hours. The longer within the range, the harder/more magic it will take, especially for larger targets, so realistically her range is less. (For example, if someone cracked a piece of glass 24 hours ago, Shoko could restore it, but a day-old wound on a living being would be much harder.)
Making Shoko a mermaid was a joke to myself at first but then I liked it and it spiraled and now Nurse Shark Shoko is unironically one of my favorite things that I have drawn. The joke was right there too, but it's mostly fun to me because nurse sharks are docile and apathetic creatures, for the large part (they are still sharks lol), and I think match her temperament well.
Also when Satoru pestered the previous housewarden enough times to accidentally gain the title for himself, he made Shoko his vice (mostly because he trusted her) to make sure he never had to do the paperwork and the boring parts. She makes him do it anyway. To the dorm, she is less of a vice and more of a "dragon wrangler," which is still extremely appreciated.
-
Zen'in Maki
Savanaclaw Housewarden Year: Sophomore Species: Human Club: Track & Field Unique Magic: N/A—Maki doesn't actually have magic of her own, but she is unnaturally resistant to most magic. She can, however, use magic/cast spells through a magic-capable familiar.
She befriended a phoenix when she was younger, having survived an encounter with a wild youth. (idk what I want the details to be but I think it would be cool if she had some related burns to it, with the idea that these creatures are rare and volatile and hard for normal humans to handle without high magic resistance.) His name is Torch because I don't think Maki would put that much thought into a name, so long as its not completely stupid sounding. I almost named the phoenix Jogo but I refrained for my own sanity.
-
Inumaki Toge
Savanaclaw Year: Sophomore Species: Human Club: Board Game Club Unique Magic: Reality Speak—pretty much just how Cursed Speech works but with a world-friendly name. Also it can apply to inanimate objects as well. The power and scope of the command is proportional to the magic required.
Toge gets an overall nicer time in this AU because he doesn't have cursed speech 24/7 and therefore can speak normally. Though the idea of him being able to affect people/bend reality with his words does freak people out. I imagine he had a rough childhood nonetheless, because why not, leading him to be less verbal than he would have been otherwise.
-
Okkotsu Yuuta
Diasomnia Year: Sophomore Species: Human Club: Board Game Club Unique Magic: Wraith Pact-maker—he can enhance/bolster a ghost's magic/presence through making a link with himself. It has to be mutual, and it can last for any duration of time, although actively using the link does require magic. The ghost in question gains magic and grounding from Yuuta, and Yuuta can use the ghost's magic, including their UM, if applicable. He can have multiple links, but the first and main recipient of this magic is his childhood friend Rika.
Between her longlasting connection with Yuuta and her brutal death, she is a more wraith-like and powerful ghost. Her unique magic was to copy other people's UMs, which Yuuta can use through her in short bursts.
-
I didn't have space nor solid ideas for unique magics for the Hasaba twins and the Fushiguros, so I didn't do full bios for them. Later, perhaps. All of the girls are sophomores and Megumi is a freshman. Tsumiki and Nanako are sharing their social brain cell and trading stories of stupid things their dragon dads/older brothers/untitled guardians have done, while Megumi is helping budding-gamer Mimiko learn Pokemon strats. I love the idea of them all being friends, maybe after minimal difficulty in the girls' first year, likely on account of the twins being a little Sebek-shaped, in terms of wanting to be The Best Guards for Suguru, etc etc.
-
I technically have way more ideas for other characters and other dorms, but, I will end this here, for now. I am trying to reign myself in lmao.

'Urgh, life's so unfair!" You had heard about this 'reincarnation' thing the other protagonists were all raving about and signed up. It seemed so exciting at first, all the possibilities for new worlds and new powers, and now your stuck here... That stupid bimbo angel assigned to your case dumped you on a world where fat somehow determined your power and status, and then gave you a hyper efficient metabolism so you'd always stay smol and svelte in a world of blobs... surely there must be some way to turn this to your advantage like a true protag.
(Feel free to change the central size concept thing, just woke and this sprung into this Anon's empty, sleepy head, the idea of a Protag getting isekai'd and being the opposite of stupid-OP as the new world considers it, and making it work regardless. Thought if anyone could do it justice, it'd be you)
First of all I want to say that's really nice! Thank you for the praise, I try my best!
Alright, so how would our poor protagonist put their hyper efficient metabolism to good use? You know the weird thing that isekais have where for some reason there are a lot of enslaved people, one of which tends to become the protag's first friend or something in a lot of isekais? At least that's what the internet told me, anyway, it's likely the skinnier people who wouldn't gain weight as easily, or were just smaller in general would have to feed the bigger, making them total feeders as their barely paid/unpaid profession, having to give whatever crazy food demands their master told them to.. AND I MEAN, SOME OF YALL WOULD PROBABLY NOT CARE IF YOU WERE IN THIS POSITION! But we're trying to make it work for the protagonist.
So...I'm in a bad situation. I need to pull something out of my butt or I'll never make it in this world! Wait...what about...slimes? You'd think they'd just be like any other delicacy in this world, but they're very much not, the slime is not easily digested, and the evil energy consuming most enemy slimes is too annoying to deal with for these pampered fatter blobs. Plus, why eat jello when you ARE more jello than a king slime and can eat giant monstrous dragons for lunch, as one of the most powerful blobs in the world? The slimes are an untapped market of goodness and as a true heroic soul that I am (cough), I'll easily take care of their evil spirits, and then my body might not get 'fat' per se, but it will get bigger because it's inflated by the sheer amount of not fully digested harmless slime bits all over me. Probably mostly my belly, maybe boobs and butt too, but mostly that. The unique body shape and size I'd get to if I did this for long enough might get me the capability to feast on huge meals - huge enough to at the very least make sure I don't lose ANY weight from my metabolism, and I'd be at a size where it'd be possible for me to demand food and not get a weird look. Eventually I might even put on some actual weight!
So yeah, summed up, take advantage of evil spirit possessed, non digestible slimes that the fattest and most powerful don't eat due to them being too annoying and not caloric enough, to bloat my body up enough to pass as an actual fat blob, and then start getting enough food to the point I don't have to fake being fat anymore (or as much). Sounds like something an isekai protagonist would do and somehow win, no?
I also bring forth an alternate solution. Magic is always a great option, of course... maybe the poor feeder spellcaster I meet who's stuck conjuring spells to cook food faster, or make more food for them out of thin air, would help me in return for me helping them, by making me 'magically fat'; I can't digest the magic, so... then it's the same thing as the last idea, feigning being true fat until I can eat enough to be REALLY fat.
Lastly: I don't think I'd have enough charisma to convince others that 'having a hyper metabolism is a reason to feed me more, I just naturally need more food to be big so I'm better?' But. There's a chance that I could do something very bold. If I can just manage to get in an area of this world that prides itself not as much on fatness but specifically on how much they can *eat*, I'd have a great time. I'd challenge them to an eating contest! And through the power of gluttony, I'd win, eating more than the blob despite my tiny size, and despite me not gaining much from all that food. I explain that my metabolism is too fast, so I need more food to sate it, and while it might not work before, now i have PROOF that it's true, so that definitely multiplies my charisma!
I hope at least one of those answers was hot and/or funny enough to make you chuckle. This was fun brainstorming!

10 first lines tagging game
thanks @maraudersaffair for the tag! this seems like a super fun one and also I'm ready to consume some of your fics from your list. Go check out their post if you have a moment!
Rules: share the first lines of ten of your most recent fanfics and tag ten people. If you have written less than ten, don’t be shy and share anyway
If we’re single and not married by the time you’re thirty, I’ll have a baby with you. Friends say it all the time. It’s an innocent pact that usually never comes true. Hermione had been a little more than drunk when she’d said it. After that night, she didn't think anything about it. Both - Explicit - Hermione gets doubleteamed by the Weasley Twins. That's it. That's the fic
First, there was Lavender, and the whole of Hogwarts knew how that went. Then, there was Hermione. That lasted only a few months before she gave up. Ron was thankful for it because he had given up a month earlier, he just didn’t have the guts to tell her. I like your skirt - Explicit - Ron and Harry realizing their feelings for each other and pining so badly that Hermione is ready to lock them in a room together.
1983 - “Place your finger right there in the middle. That’s a good boy, my little Dragon.” 1984 - “Do you like the paper? I charmed it myself,” Narcissa smiled softly. Snowflakes glittered across the paper like the inside of a snow globe. Remember Me As Tradition - GA - a trip through time following how a lovely way to wrap gifts turns into a tradition for generations
Harry Potter has a beautiful arse. Round and plump. Made of pure muscle and just enough fat that it'll probably give a lovely jiggle if you spank it. It’s like a peach that bounces with each step; a bruise would be both a shame and delight. I WANNA SEE SOME ARSE - Explicit - Theo Nott has to share a hotel room (and a bed) for a very drunk week and hopes he won't do something stupid like slip and fall on Potter's cock
There wasn’t a cloud in the sky as the Hogwarts Express pulled into Hogsmeade station, but that didn't mean this was a smart idea. Harry ran his hand through his hair, unable to control the nerves in his body as he waited on the platform for the train to unload. This Could Be A Disaster - Explicit - Harry and Ron run a quidditch summer camp and pull all the stunts they didn't do as teens- drinking, streaking round the pitch, skinny dipping in the lake, and fucking in a classroom
It’s not that Pansy never wanted to return to London after the War. It’s just she never really saw the point. She’d finished her schooling. She escaped Azkaban and any persecution. And most importantly, she was absolutely hated by everyone in Wizarding London. ‘tis the damn season (Pansy’s Version) - GA - Pansy returns to London to find a wish granting coffee machine run by a very fit, cardigan wearing Ron Weasley
The trick of escape is embracing the cold. Humans gravitate towards heat in all aspects of life. Heat to keep their bodies warm, fire to cook their food, hugs to keep the loneliness at bay, the sun to brighten their souls. It’s a design deep down in their cell structures. Locals Only - Explicit - Draco lives with his boyfriends Theo and Blaise in Muggle Newquay, but he's finally allowed to return to the Wizarding World... problem is he doesn't want to
There were no clouds over Andromeda’s beachside cottage when Harry arrived one Wednesday Summer afternoon. The salt breeze washed over him, freeing him from the stress of Auror Training, the rebuilding of Hogwarts, and all the other political bothers that came with being The Chosen One. The cottage had become his safe haven; it was his place to hide from the world that refused to let him breathe. Summer Changes - GA - Draco Malfoy babysits Teddy and Harry can't seem to stay away. To protect Teddy of course. And not because he might have feelings for Draco...
Deep in the Department of Mysteries sat a book atop a plinth that no one was to ever touch. It was not for reading, but recording. Years would pass without change. The ink from the previous entries had faded and dust coated the yellowed parchment. Soulmates With Benefits - Explicit - Ginny and Draco find out their soulmates and begrudgingly are put on the same Quidditch Team... can they resist the pull of soulmates like they want or is it love?
Despite the darkness of the early morning outside, the cottage bursts with light from within. Ron chuckles as he moves through the front yard, following the designated path to not step on any invisible creatures or children’s toys. He can feel eyes on him, but the moment he glances at the open window, the tiny watcher ducks away. A Good Night for Whimsy and Love - Explicit - Ron comes home to his girlfriend Luna and their family with a surprise for her

🌟 again!
Director's Cut: Author's Choice!
Hey, friend :D Thank you so much for the second star!
I'm gonna talk about Nyenna and some cool symbolism things I hope are coming across for her in The World on Our Shoulders.
I saw a post on here once that aptly describes what I mean, but I'd decided this long before I even put pen to paper, so to speak. I knew her main LI was going to be our favorite hc Nerevarine -- Moon-and-Star, Teldryn Sero. Night and shadow themed as we see. So Nyenna was going be themed around the sun and inner fire and light.
I wanted her looks even to seem like she had light pouring out from inside -- the light skin, bright orange eyes, silvery blonde hair. There's world reasons for this too, though it is rather strange, given her heritage.
Personality wise, she is kindhearted, even in the wake of all her chaos. Peace, or being at peace for her is often associated with florals -- such as the Gildergreen and tundra cotton flowers in different scenes. Further, even though she's been through so much pain, she doesn't want that for others. She's warm toward people, and doesn't like to seem rude whenever possible. She's sometimes too trusting. She blames herself often for not becoming who she was supposed to be sooner so she could have saved more lives.
We know the sun can be dangerous too, however. Her powers are scary, objectively. She could, if she wanted, shout people to pieces, too. Her rage, borrowed from dragon souls or otherwise, is terrible. Being on her bad side is likely not the wisest idea. She can and will kill these enormous beasts pretty much on her own. She has a particular affinity for fire magic and conjuring things out of the fires of Oblivion. (Or wherever in Oblivion, I was going with the theme here lol) Her actions or inactions frequently put others in the path of danger, because she can't help but attract it to her. Out of the frying pan and into the fire.
So, as the earlier link in this post suggests, Nyenna is sun coded. But not just in the typical way. She is dangerous and powerful. Like fire, her destiny is all consuming. She might even be destroying herself over it. She might be destroyed by it, simply by throwing herself in the path of danger because it is what she's destined to do. We don't know exactly what will be left in her wake, with how much damage she is capable of doing, with how brightly this power burns. But at the same time, she is still that kindhearted girl with a warm smile, who only ever wanted peace to begin with.
I hope that was interesting!! I love symbolism and metaphor and sometimes, maybe halfway purposefully, it's not spelled out in fics or books. It's fun things for a reader to maybe pick out as they go. If you did notice some of these sun-coded references, let me know! And feel free to chat with me about other things you may have noticed along these lines if you want (:

HOW I ATTAINED THE DRAGON THRONE BY BEING PART OF THE METAMORPHOSIS OF YALDABOATH INTO CHRONOS DIVINE:
THE MASTER OF SPEECH EVOLVES INTO THE MASTER OF SIGHT.
WITH THE STATE OF THE PLANET GOING THROUGH CONSTANT EXTINCTION LEVEL EVENT CATASTROPHES, WE KNEW THAT THERE WOULD ONLY BE ONE WAY THAT LIFE ON THE EARTH COULD CONTINUE TO GROW, LEARN, AND EVOLVE DESPITE ALL THE TIMES THAT THE HUMAN RACE KEPT BEING RESET WITH ITS PROGRESS BY SUCH CATASTROPHES.
TURN THE PAGES, TURN TO STONE. OPEN UP MY EARTHLY TOMB TO FIND A STONE AND A SERPENTINE JINN SPIRIT. I CONSUMED THE DIGITARIA SEED WITH THE GREAT MOTHER. NORMALLY, THIS MEANS YOU HAVE TO SACRIFICE YOUR PUMPING BLOOD AND ALL IT SYMBOLIZES. HOWEVER, IN MY CASE BEFORE I CRYSTALLIZED INTO DIAMOND STONE, THE GREAT MOTHER MADE SURE THAT I WAS FULLY ACTIVATED, AND BECAUSE IT WAS A MARRIAGE UNION BETWEEN MYSELF AND THE GREAT MOTHER OF MY OWN FREE WILL, I WAS ABLE TO SURVIVE THE PROCESS SO THAT I WAS CRYSTALLIZED INTO DIAMOND STONE WITH THE ENTIRE SET OF FREQUENCIES AND SUN ACTIVATIONS WITH THEIR SOUL SHEATHS AND CORRESPONDING MIND ACTIVATIONS, COMPLETELY INTACT. THAT MEANS MY YIN BODY HAS UNLIMITED YANG IN A STATE OF INDESTRUCTIBLE IMMORTALITY! THEN I WAS PLACED BY THE GREAT MOTHER IN HER CENTER CHAMBER TO BECOME THE SINGULARITY OF THE MASTERCRAFT OF THE BLACK SUN INSIDE OF THE COSMIC EGG POLESTAR, WHERE THESE ENERGIES AND POWERS CAN BE ECHOED OUT AND PROJECTED TO ALL OF THE DIAMOND GUARDIAN SPIRIT DRAGONS OF THE GREAT MOTHER GODDESS, AND THEY CAN GAIN THE BENEFITS OF HAVING CONTROL OF THE ENTIRE SPECTRUM OF FREQUENCIES AND ACTIVATIONS, INCLUDING THE SEVENTH SUN EDEN EYE. THUS THE SERPENT PEOPLE HAVE GAINED COMPLETE AND TOTAL VICTORY OVER THEIR REBELLING CHARIOTS.
AND JUST ONE MORE LITTLE THING...
BY MERGING WITH THE VOID INSIDE OF THE COSMIC EGG, THE GODS AND GODDESSES MAY NOT NECESSARILY BE IN WHAT IS THE VISIBLE SPECTRUM OF LIGHT FOR HUMAN BEINGS. ALL THOSE SARCOPHAGI UNEARTHED AND OPENED, FOUND TO BE COMPLETELY EMPTY IN VARIOUS PLACES LIKE EGYPT AND ALL OVER THE EARTH, WELL...
THANKS FOR LETTING US OUT! WE NEVER DREAMED YOU WOULD DEGENERATE IN ANCIENT WISDOM SO MUCH THAT YOU WOULD SO QUICKLY UNDO EVERYTHING THAT THE JACKAL PATRIARCHY HAS BEEN COMMITTING GENOCIDE FOR...
HEAD LIKE A HOLE: BLACK SUN VORTEX HEADDRESS OF THE GODDESS
MINOAN SNAKE GODDESS: NOTICE THE SYMBOLISM OF THE WATER, THE WINGED CREATURES FACING OUT INSTEAD OF IN, THE MOON PHASES, AND THE KEY HOLE SHAPE SIMILAR TO TANIT.
ONE OF THE CHIEF DEITIES OF THE AZTECS: THE LOWER ORIENTATION HAS BEEN USED BEFORE TO SYMBOLIZE THE DRAGON THRONE AND THE ANTICHRIST.
PAZUZU: NOTICE THE SIMILAR SYMBOLISM OF THE SERPENT PHALLUS TO THAT OF THE DRAGON THRONE. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY REFERRED TO THE DRAGON THRONE AS THE THRONE CHAKRA.

@hdmevu I feel you. I was you. I was not uncomfortable looking at Fiona and Cake and wanted to watch it, so I'm forcing myself to binge watch Adventure Time first.
Here's what I understand so far
So about a thousand years before the story starts there’s an apocalypse, with bombs. Except it’s not just a nuclear apocalypse, it’s a *magic* apocalypse where the bombs radiate something that changes the world into a magical world. The world is a bombed out wasteland full of mutated dead zombies like things called oozers, then vampires, and rainbow unicorns. They all kill people. Even the rainbow unicorns (they eat flesh).
The surviving humans wear animal beanies to protect their heads and necks from vampire bites and plan to flee the continent to get away from all the monsters.
Without humans other things become the dominant life forms (and lots of stuff is alive because magic chaotically spreads like radiation) and the land is inhabited by sentient candy, talking animals, hotdog people, slime people, just a bunch of random people except humans. Also there are multiplaner dimensions like Lumpy Space (it's a space where lumpy space people live) and the demon realm (called the nightosphere)
Well, one human. Finn the human. He was found alone as a baby and raised by talking dogs. He has adventures with his adoptive brother Jake. Jake is actually half dog half shapeshifting eldritch horror creature that gives John Carpenter's the Thing Vibe that implanted an egg into Jake’s father. But Jake doesn’t know that, and thinks he’s just a magic dog that can shapeshift in horrifying ways (no one acknowledges it’s horrifying). But Jake is a good boy and so is Finn, they were raised by good dogs.
So before the apocalypse, the world was like our world, but not completely free of magic. It had Indiana Jones level magic and demons existed in a demon realm, so more pulp fantasy. One of the guys living in the pre-apocalypse world was Simon. Who wanted to be an Indiana Jones adventuring professor type finding cool artifacts but instead ended up in a more Magnus Archives evil cursed artifact situation? He found a magic crown that drives the wearer mad and turns them into an ice wizard.
So Simon’s being consumed by an evil madness artifact, the world ends, and then he finds an orphaned half-demon girl child and has to raise her in the middle of an apocalypse while losing his mind. The half-demon girl is called Marceline.
Later Simon leaves Marcy to protect her from himself, and later she grows up to become a vampire slayer. She kills all the vampires but ends up being turned into one herself. So now she’s immortal and half-demon and has a bunch of cool powers she got from absorbing the souls of the vampires she killed.
Fortunately, she’s not the only immortal teenager. The magic-apocalypse created sentient magic gum that birthed a princess made of bubble gum (and also a dragon). Princess Bubblegum created the candy people in a candy kingdom and she and Marceline fall in love.
So you’ve got Finn the human, Jake the Dog*, Princess Bubblegum, Marceline the Vampire Queen, and a magical world 1000 years post-apocalypse with lots of different Princesses like Lump Space Princess, Flame Princess, Soft Serve Ice Cream and Bounce House Princess.
Also, Simon is now fully taken over by the magic crown and is known as The Ice King and he kidnaps ladies trying to get them to marry him because he yearns for love (and his long fiance who disappeared after the first time he tried on the crown and lost himself/blacked out).
But wait! There’s more lore. Cosmological lore. With gods, old gods, chaos monsters, more chaos monsters, cycles of reincarnation, cycles of destruction and rebirth, and a multiverse. Also the four elements, which are Fire, Ice, Candy and Slime (for some reason - this is a weird show).
the whole adventure time universe seems like it has some wild lore that i’d be super interested in but everytime I watch it I am uncomfortable
please recommend looong video essays about it

kinktober day 7 main kink: size difference
⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆
The world was a magical one.
The planet was crawling with mythological creatures steaming from the smallest of pixies to the largest Kraken. The world was full of mystery, wonder, and adventure. Fire breathing dragons and cursed powerful swords were hidden away from the few humans and elves to discover. As in any civilization, there were those who got along and those who didn’t.
Some species of creatures got along with everyone, there were others that were feared beyond reason, and a few that were loved for moments and feared for others.
You were a fairy.
And you were tiny.
Standing no more than three apples high, you had iridescent wings that curled and shone in the glimmering light whenever you so much as moved. You were a good fairy, you always have been. You were often found assisting with a multitude of mythical creatures and humans on quests and as companions. Despite your small stature, you were fast, zipping, and gliding faster than most could ever dare to catch up with.
You loved your wings, loved flying, loved having the wind whistling through your ears while you dove between branches and branches, laughing while your pixie friends failed to keep up with you. Your mother had always fluttered her wings in annoyance and partial anger when you were younger and would often outspeed her, leaving her screaming your name while she desperately tried to keep up.
What could you say? You were a daring fairy, an adventurous one at that too.
But she always warned you, even back then, of the dangers of being a small, tiny, pretty fairy who flew at speeds much faster than you should be capable of.
The wind whipped against your face, stinging at your nose, chapping your lips, and whooshing through your ears as you grew faster and faster. The traces of magic falling from your wings creating a beautiful, sparkling trail behind you as you whooped out in excitement and thrill.
“Slow down, y/n!” your friends screamed from what sounded like many trees behind you, and like the daring showoff you were, you cork spiraled around a set of hanging branches with a loud laugh.
But as you straightened out, ready to move onward, you realized that something, thick, heavy, and sticky had caught onto the tip of your wing, and you catapulted backward.
A spider’s web.
Even in a world of fantasy and mystery, spiders existed to catch flying pests, and to some, you were just that.
Panic consumed you, white fire coursing through every magical vein in your body as you thrashed and shook in the webs. Your hands grabbed onto the sticky strands around your wings, a desperate attempt to free yourself only to find yourself even more tightly wound up in the damp, near-transparent threads.
A pathetic whimper left your mouth, your head dropping to your chest as silent, hot tears streamed down your cheeks. Your wings fluttered weakly, looking nothing too far from the insects and flies you were so used to seeing caught up in these webs. You strained your ears, trying to listen to the few pixies you had been flying and playing with, but even with your immense speed advantageous over them, you knew that they should be near.
But nothing.
You sat there on the web for minutes that seemed to bleed into hours, silently waiting for your friends to come and save you… but it seemed for naught.
…
…
…
“Help…”
“Help…”
“Please help…”
You had been trapped for hours.
Each passing second both dooming you to a life as spider food for the Arachne that had still yet to return home. Or maybe possibly a snack for any large creature that may pass, or an undeserving elf or human plucking you free and demanding to use their powers on a quest you would never approve of. That, or maybe you’d die of hunger.
There was no stopping the growl in your stomach or the parched dryness of your throat for your desperate, pathetic cry of help.
But it seemed that when your friends not-your-friends anymore said this part of the forest was for the most part void of all pixie and fairy eating creatures, it seemed that it was just void of all creatures. Pouting, you felt another rush of frustrating tears well up in your eyes, your cheeks huffing and face steaming as soft chimes of bells erupted from you while you seemingly threw a temper tantrum, not one-second closer from freedom.
Your breathing turned sharper, heavier, and overall shallow. In a flash of fury, you thrummed your wings as fast as you could, trying your best to fly out of this entrapment. To your slight excitement, you managed to loosen the webs around your wings for just a moment, your smile bursting oh so prematurely onto your face before it all went wrong again. As if the web was alive as well, it seemed to suddenly stiffen and drag you back into its sticky confines only for you to be even more trapped onto the mass web.
Like a broken dam, the tears streaming down your face were stinging, plentiful, and unable to stop.
You mourned the end of your life like this, so pathetic, so absolutely stupid way to go: caught on a spiderweb.
“Now, now, little one, why are you crying?” came a voice so soft yet incredibly loud voice, and you stiffened straight despite having a potential savior.
You couldn’t see them, and with how the web was wrapped around you, you couldn’t even dare to turn your head around to stare at them. You couldn’t look at him, sure, but you knew just through the tenor and low thunder of his voice that your potential savior or wolf in sheep’s clothing was undoubtedly a robust, powerful mythological creature.
Despite the way his voice seemed to whisper in your ears, you heard the familiar noise of someone moving through the grounds of the forest. The fallen dead leaves that scattered on the floor crackling with his movement. You trembled although you didn’t make a noise, not even a small bell chime of your wings.
“Are you in need of assistance, little one?” he continued to ponder as if blind to the was you oh so very not discreetly clammed up at the sudden sound of his voice. “If you so require it, I would be more than willing to assist you in your freedom. It pains me to see such a beautiful, full of potential little fairy go to waste.”
The tongue in your mouth felt pathetically dry, your chest rising and collapsing at incredible speeds for someone of your composition of size.
“Oh, are you fearful of me, little one?” he seemed to laugh, finding your fear to be humorous, comical, really. “Most individuals at least wait until they peer into my eyes to find themselves unwilling to move or speak.”
The web shook with the vibrations of his voice. And you whined at the back of your throat as that small fact merely confirmed the size of the male creature standing behind you. You found yourself fearful of that playful tone on his voice, but you also knew that as a tiny fairy, you were quite foolish in fear when found in predicaments such as this one. You had to trust the creature behind you should you wish to escape.
“W-Would you mind freeing me?” you asked, making an attempt to sound powerful and in control despite the tremor on your lower lip and the way your voice was near childish in comparison to his own. How you actually thought fairies sounded on the same pitch as to many creatures before was beyond you, for at the moment, you deemed yourself to be no greater than a child speaking to an old man. “I was trapped while racing, and well, these frisky spiderwebs are quite the worst at capturing things that don’t deserve to be captured.”
Oh? Is that so?” his voice chuckled. His body, without a doubt, moments from yours if the way the gentle breath of his laugh brushed against your neck had anything to say about it. “I’ve always been told that they’re especially good at capturing pests.”
You flustered.
“Yet here we are!” you pathetically countered, your wings fluttering in your distress. “If you wouldn’t mind freeing me, I would greatly appreciate it!”
“But, of course,” he spoke with great pride, and you shuddered when warm, large finger seemed to easily scoop you out from the webs. Your wings fluttered when the tight restraints of the traps were done, but not entirely freed from your beautiful wings. “Relax your wings, little one, I know you’re antsy to move, but there are still a great number of leftover webs on those wings of yours. Relax, I promise you no harm as I take these webs off.”
You shivered as his warm, strong fingers worked the plenty of sticky strands of webs off of you as if they were nothing but flyaway thread used for clothing. Speaking of clothing, you peered down at the daisy and red dandelion seed dress you wore, your eyes wide with the hope that it hadn’t been ruined. You loved this outfit. But as you peered down at your cotton shoes, you froze when you finally took in the hand you were resting upon.
It was huge.
Without a doubt, his palm was the size of your entire body, the fingers long and thick with intimidating claws that demanded a bit of concern.
“There, all done,” he hummed, and you shook your wings, looking at the thing iridescent wings that made you a fairy, and you felt him turn his hand around where you rested. Your eyes, already wide with the looming dread in your stomach, seemed to become saucers the size of the moon when you came face to face with a naga.
Nagas, half-snake half-human, were a few creatures in this world that were both loved and hated by others — your kind included.
His scales were black, glinting red under the setting copper sun, and he was absolutely massive. You had seen nagas only a handful of times, three to be honest, but each other those times, you knew that they were hardly more massive than humans. But this male naga before you was enormous as he was solid. Rippling muscles on every exposed part of his human body and his snake bottom were large, thick, full of rippling coiling muscles that could probably strangle anyone who attempted to fight him. He had full, spikey red hair, scars on his arms, and one splitting his eyebrow. His red, slitted eyes seemed vast, cunning, and terrifying while he lifted you up to eye level. And his smile, oh his smile. Jagged, sharp teeth with lips pulled into a cunning, just a bit too sweet smile.
Naga, for the most part, were peaceful creatures. They were strong fighters, fierce protectors, all due to the fact that they were just so much larger than their co-inhabititors of the world, but they were peaceful. They slithered about most of the year, helping those who came and went, but there were moments in the year where they were of concern.
During the late spring, early summer, they were hit with their heats and ruts. Powerful naga soon filled with the lusting, overwhelming desire to shove their fertile eggs into anything that would hold them. Nagas, who mated with nagas, were known to have wrestled as their mating dance, almost wiping out many towns in their horny, hot desires, and you froze suddenly feeling the thick waves of heat coming off the naga before you.
“W-Well, thank you!” you stammered, your body bowing lowly for the naga before you whose splitting smile was becoming stamped in your brain. “I appreciate you freeing me, but I must go now. Supper is waiting for me!”
“What’s your name, little one?” the naga instead asked, his clawed finger caressing your cheek so softly, so accurately, you nearly thought he was set on taking off your head. “I would like to know the name of the beautiful fairy I saved today.”
There was power in knowing names in this world, fairy names especially, so you couldn’t help the pit that formed in your stomach on account to this, or the way fear stimulated every cell in your body.
“I-I can’t um, I can’t tell you,” you whimpered when his thick, large finger hooked underneath your chin to raise your head.
“Ah, it’s okay, little one, I promise I won’t do you wrong,” he promised, the lure in his voice — an advantage that nagas held in their times of heat. His voice was a warm blanket, smoothly pulling your eyes closed, making your wings flutter in your lulling excitement. “You can trust me.”
“Trust… you?” you spoke, mimicking his words, feeling like you were swimming in a warm, gooey honey trap. You bit down on your lower lip, heat rushing to your face as you stared upon his still cunning, sly grin as he traced his massive finger down from your wet, pouty lower lip to your hip. “I don’t… I can’t stay for longer?”
“Is that a question on your tone, little one?” he asked, his forked tongue flicking through his pointed teeth. “Can’t you stay? I have a favor to ask of you.”
A heavy, pitchy moan broke through your mouth as the tip of his claw dragged from your navel to your suddenly blistering core. Were you always this wet? How did you get so wet?
“But I…” you struggled to think, your eyes shut tightly, face twisting as you tried to figure out where you were needed right now. “I need to go… somewhere?”
“Somewhere?” he asked, voice light, buttery smooth. “I thought you were coming with me?”
“I… was?”
“Yes, little one, look at me,” he kissed the air, and you found your eyes pressing open, your jaw dropping when his piercing red eyes hypnotizing you. “Open those pretty little legs for me, I want to see if you’re fit enough to be my dam, my mate.”
Why that sent bubbling gasps from your tongue and sent your legs apart was beyond you, but it just seemed like the right thing to do. He had called you his mate… his dam.
His finger shoved between your legs, gently rubbing the massive finger that was probably nearly your height between your legs, catching onto your clit, sending resonating, shaking mewls from your throat. You collapsed forward, hips rutting back against his finger, your tiny fingers holding onto his knuckles, your eyes fluttering in this euphoria.
It felt so good.
So good, so good, “please more!”
You sobbed at the feeling of his finger coming up to allow more friction between you and your throbbing cunt, the bone of his knuckle-dragging so deliciously, so roughly against your throbbing clit that you started to feel weak in your knees.
“Call me Kirishima,” he growled, his finger flipping underneath you so that the pad of his finger could now press onto your clit, gathering your dripping slick as he does so. “Kirishima Eijirou.”
“Ei,” you spluttered, eyes barely open to watch the way his slitted pupils were dilated with his lust, the smell he was emitting without a doubt one of an alpha male plunging further within his rut. “This feels so good, please give meeeEE ahhh, oh god, give me more!”
Kirishima growled out a peal of chilling laughter, one that had your wings fluttering in their heavy, lucid attempt to fly and kiss the man that could swallow your entire body as if you were nothing more than a potato chip to him. You keened, one of your hands shakily removing themselves from his finger, stretching out to him.
“Kiss me, please kiss me,” you beg, your heaving breathes almost in synch with your wildly bucking hips.
“You want a kiss?” he hummed, bringing your tiny body close enough to tease you, but not near enough for you to plant a desperate, small kiss to his smooth, curling large lips. “Promise me two things.”
“Anything,” you promised, watching as his forked tongue flashed between his teeth, his eyes flashing with his shaking control on the situation. Your cheeks scorched at the sight of him wanting you just as badly as you wanted him. The dam in you jittering at the knowledge that he was a good mate, a good person by holding back, trying to keep his control before giving in. But you wanted him as deep as you were. You wanted to feel his finger intruding your clenching, spasming walls, to try and take on his undoubtedly huge cock.
You wanted to try it.
You wanted him.
“Anything you want, I will give you!” you shriek with promise, your clit feeling numb from the overstimulation and lack of release as you could not reach it without penetration.
“Your name,” Kirishima growled, his lips dangerously close. “And promise to carry my — our children.”
“I promise, I promise, I promise!” you frantically claim, knowing you would do it all just for his lips against yours, and finally, he was close enough, his bottom lip nearly the size of your entire face as you kissed him again and again.
His lips were pursed, allowing your frantic kisses to have lain all over his awaiting soft lips. You shuddered at the electric sensation coursing through you with every second, and your wings fluttered in your excitement, bringing you up into the air, lifting you off his palm.
“Your name?” he commanded, the hand you abandoned running a taloned finger down the spine of your back, pleasantly, orgasmically feeling as he reached the spot between your sensitive wings. You loved the feeling and keened against his mouth.
“Y/l/n y/n!”
“And you will have my children?”
“Yes!”
A possessive, all encompassing cross between a growl and a hiss slipped through his lips, and you looked down with your lust dipped eyes to see the two, twisted cocks he was rutting into his free hand. You cried at the fact that it wasn’t your cunt the sharp, near hook looking tip of his cock wasn’t ramming into.
“Where do you think you’re going, little one?” Kirishima snarked, his eyes bright and humorous as he caught you by your wings. You moaned loudly at the lusting pull of your wings that you could feel pulsing into your core. “You’re not ready for my cock or eggs just yet.”
“But I wanna…” you cry, fingers stretching out toward the two writhing cocks that seemed to call your name. “I wanna try!”
“Shh, shh,” he cooed, his hand that was not occupied with his massive cocks releasing your wings and gently stroking your face. “It’s okay, it’s okay, you can try in a bit. I just don’t want my little one splitting in half before she’s been made useful!”
Your pouting and mouthwatering person turned to face Kirishima again, whose once red eyes were completely black in his rutting lust.
“Split in half?” you echoed, a slight pain pinching your pussy, the thought of being split in two for those cocks not quite as horrendous as it should be. “Will I be?”
“Not if you stretch yourself out first,” Kirishima corrected, entirely missing your slight hope to be torn in half by his cock. “I want to see you fuck yourself on my finger at first. Do that, and I’ll let you sit on my cock and birth my eggs.”
A chill ran down your back, and you nodded, suddenly more than willing to throw yourself onto anything he would give you to prove yourself. And with his free hand, he presented his long ring finger whose talon was missing, most likely gone from some sort of battle.
But it didn’t matter. It was enough for you to prove yourself.
Fluttering over to his finger, you dropped the small panties you owned onto his exposed palm before placing your sopping cunt right above his extended finger. You lowered yourself onto the tip, spreading your essence slick against his skin, your eyes unabashedly half-lidded as you watched the muscles in his arm pick up speed as you made eye contact with the excited naga.
And with a twirl of your hips and a moan that vibrated straight through your chest, you sank onto his finger.
It truly did feel like his splitting you in half. You recognized immediately at the way your walls nearly couldn’t keep up with how he opened you up. His finger was already giant within your spongey, tight walls. The heat and the callouses of his appendage unreplicable as you silently screamed, your walls spasming tightly around him, an orgasm taking you out without warning. You heaved, exhaustion ticking your brain as the soft bounces you made to further his finger up your cunt making you whine. He was huge, his finger huge. But you liked the fullness it brought you, the way you struggled not to send yourself flying off his finger like some rocket while you continued to fuck yourself against him.
You could do it, you could do it.
Soft wet noises filled the air as Kirishima’s aggressive stroking of his leaking cocks, and the way his finger seemed to be so loud in your tight cavern filled the forest.
More, give him more.
Pressing the collar of your outfit down, your legs wrapped around his finger as you continued to fuck yourself up and down his finger while your hands groped and pinched at your breasts, your eyes rolling back in your horny excitement. You could feel your orgasm growing again. You could tell by the clenching quivering of your spongey, velvet walls against his finger that you were close yet again.
“Fuck, little one, you’re taking my finger so well,” Kirishima sang in his praise, his snake tail coiling and thrashing wildly beneath the both of you, and you longed to feel the snake scales beneath your blazing core too. “Are you ready for my cock? I’m so close, so close. You made me like this, little one, so fucking hot, so sexy, fuck.”
You mewl loudly, your body well aware of the lewd scene he was creating with the way he wrangled his twin cocks in his hand. Your head dropped backward, a high pitched wail shooting through you when his finger moved within you, and you nodded your head as quickly as you could. Your legs relaxing around him as Kirishima quickly picked you off his finger, and without even three seconds of being empty again, two sharp, writhing cocks slammed within your cunt.
You staggered against his hold, body convulsing at the feeling of his snake cock flicking and twirling within your womb, stimulating the puffy, wet walls that were erratically beating, as the both of you came with loud, joint moans.
White filled your vision as your wet juices splattered down his cock, and the weirdest, almost constipating feeling filled you as solid, cold, and round objects filled your womb. Making the drool in your mouth dribble down the corner of your mouth as your eyes crossed.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four eggs.
Four eggs for you to grow, four kids you would have with Kirishima, and you sobbed in elation.
“I can feel them, Ei!” you sobbed, content with the babies he just gave you, already expanding your tiny little stomach to the optimal length it could reach. “Our babies!”
Kirishima chuckled, removing your from his cock and placing your pregnant little tiny body onto his shoulder, a sign that he would protect you through anything and everything.
“I can’t wait until they hatch, little one.”
And with that, he nuzzled against your face. And you vibrated in your happiness, more than willing to take on the world as Kirishima continued forward in the world. There was no looking back now.

Neo CreaTures
Hello and welcome to my first ever collab call to celebrate me hitting a huge follower milestone! This is dedicated to everyone who loves the supernatural – like me – and enjoys writing a little more interesting creatures than just vampires and werewolves – which of course are still lovely. Under the cut you’ll find a list of awesome creatures to turn our favorite boys into – or even the reader if that’s the route you want to go. Our main theme is it to have some fun and post a variety of different spooky or not so spooky fics throughout October to spread our love for the supernatural. To claim a spot, simply dm me @raibebe your member and creature of choice and I’ll add you to this post as long as the spot is still up for claim.
Reblogs are appreciated even if you chose to not enter the collab to reach a wider audience!
rules
As always: First come, first serve
The fic has to be about the chosen member, meaning he is supposed to be the main character, you’re of course allowed to add in as many of the others as you want
You can bend the lore/appearance of your creature of choice how you may seem fit. Just don’t start telling me dwarfs turn into wolves every full moon.
Deadline is October 31st 2021
Minimum word count is 2k. This should be doable, it’s a lot of time until October. If you choose to write it in multiple parts, just send me the part you want to have linked on the masterlist.
No timestamps/drabbles, bullet points, social media AUs or reactions. Fics. That’s it.
Open to all genres, it doesn’t have to be horror or gory but I would love to read some darker pieces that are perfect for the season
If you want to include smut in your work, you have to be of age. No exceptions.
Even though all NCT members are of age, please refrain from writing smut for Jisung, Chenle and Sungchang, since otherwise Jisung will call the police on us.
Tag your work accordingly if you have potentially triggering stuff in it. When in doubt – you should probably tag it. But you can always ask which brings me to the next point:
Joining the discord is not mandatory but I’d encourage you to because it’s a great way to get to know your fellow writers and maybe ask for advice or just to chat about our boys.
That’s also where I’ll post announcements and stuff
Please tell me if you’re changing URLs or want to step out of the collab or can’t meet the deadline, which is both fine and can be negotiated
Please reblog this post after getting accepted so we can reach a wider audience.
For further questions just dm me!

What are your top five fantasy series that you’d recommend to someone who’s pretty new to that genre?
srry this took a while but i gave it a lot of thought! this is a tough question cause it's pretty subjective, like what id rec to someone depends on their interests or what they'd read outside of fantasy or even their age, but here's an imperfect list:
Way of Kings (separate from the stormlight archive), Brandon Sanderson: wok is still imo THEE fantasy book for people who dont like fantasy. i can no longer in good conscience recommend the entire series cause ob onwards cosmere knowledge becomes almost necessary and that's too big a commitment to spring on someone new, but I have seen this work in practice. I know three separate people who loved this book despite not reading fantasy before. It's to give a reader something epic but also clear their mind of the idea that fantasy world building is solely reliant on a tolkien model.
Tamora Pierce's Tortall books: I would be remiss if I didn't mention the absolute power fantasy series of my preteen years so if the person u are reccing to is younger and wants a comforting arthurian aesthetic you cannot do better than literally any of these. My personal fave is protector of the small but song of the lioness by rights should be first. they are dated but like.....i do think people should read 90s fantasy just to know what's up
The Broken Earth trilogy, N.K. Jemisin: the whole time i was reading this i was like......ok this is my new fantasy for not fans rec, but imo this is the ideal stepping stone for people who read lots of sci fi but don't read fantasy. the series exists in the midpoint of left hand of darkness and earthsea. I think it could be good for new fantasy fans still just because 1) the prose style and the pov is interesting enough to be a drawing factor in itself 2) the magic system tricks you, you get a decent primer in hard and soft varieties just by figuring out what's going on 3) it does the best job of having not only modern english but also a full lexicon of planet specific jargon that never feels confusing
The Lies of Locke Lamora, Scott Lynch: i don't think this book/series is perfect and it's very literally a bit of a boy's club of a book but let's just say if you really really really really like heist media and thief crew dynamics, this is a good starter that'll lead you into the genre....personally its definitely a book i reread for Fun often
Wyrd Sisters/Going Postal/Monstrous Regiment, Terry Pratchett: i want to make it clear i am NOT reccing all of discworld. i would never be like 'oh you don't like fantasy? here's 40ish books making fun of tropes you don't know' like clearly I'm a huge fan but i picked these three specifically as the ideal books to give to someone as a starter. this is easily consumable, non confusing fantasy. As for which one, it gets subjective and yes i know everyone says to start with guards guards but the dragon book is NOT one you're going to want to give to someone who doesn't have a history of liking dragons
English majors/Shakespeare fans/gay people who love Hamlet....go for wyrd sisters. it's very funny but it works the book around both hamlet and macbeth so it's very sinister at the same time.
For people who genuinely don't want to read fantasy cause the magic/mythic elements feel too silly, go postal. i don't know a single person who dislikes this book. it will make u think about public services, you know, like the post offices under capitalism.
monstrous regiment is my personal favorite. it is a war tragedy. so yeah give this one to your lesbian friend but also give it to the one person in your life that's read the things they carried more than once.
But I believe that it's way better to recommend fantasy based on the person you want to read it too....like i recommended Pratchett's Soul Music to my bestie because of their encyclopaedic music history knowledge. Someone gave me Priory of the Orange Tree because i had just finished a ten week seminar on spensers the faerie queen (the ideal way to consume that book by the way). if somehow you have a friend who plays dnd but somehow doesn't do the required reading give em Mistborn and a magic system to chew on. read lotr in general. fantasy is so full of sub genres literally any book can be a good starter if a potential reader can engage and relate to plot they already know that they like💕
(feel free to add ur own recs to the tags/notes there really aren't any wrong answers here)
#this is very long not sure if i should use a cut......#i almost put sword of shannara instead of locke lamora btw........almost but it's not a good starter its lotr for 100 pgs

The theory about ‘Sukuna’s going to eat (or try to eat) Megumi’ has a high probability to come true
This theory is cross-posted on posted on reddit. Contains spoilers for non-manga readers.
I know that (some) people are sick of this, but I’d like to point out something I’ve noticed from u/bushwarblerssong's post about the urban legend that inspired Gege to create Sukuna, which I think supports the ‘Sukuna will (try to) eat Megumi’ theory.
Gege said he created Sukuna based on an urban legend thread that was posted on 2chan.
The summary of this urban legend thread;
> A construction worker found a 2 meter wooden box with ‘Ryoman Sukuna ??? is sealed’ written on it at the old temple his company was demolishing. Fyi he was the one who posted the thread, so I’ll refer to him as 2chan guy just like bushwarblerssong did on their post.
> 2chan guy called the former priest of the temple & told him about the box.
> The priest told 2chan guy to not open the box.
> Two of 2chan guy’s coworkers opened the box for fun, then they became sick (mute + dazed) & hospitalized (few days later one of them died due to heart attack while the other became mentally unstable).
> That box contained a mummy of two conjoined twins.
> 2chan guy called the priest again. The priest came with his son and took the box. 2chan guy asked the priest’s son about the mummy.
> Priest’s son confirmed the mummy was indeed a pair of conjoined twins. The twins were purchased by Mononobe who was a leader of a religious sect & then the twins got locked inside a secret chamber with other prisoners who also had deformities. They all cannibalized each other there.
> Mononobe was interested in the twins & wanted the twins to become the sole survivor, so he stabbed other prisoners before he threw the twins there.
> The twins survived & Mononobe turned them into a mummy while they were still alive (by starving them). Then he named them Ryomen (Two Faces) Sukuna.
And here’s the interesting part, quoting bushwarblerssong;
To increase the mummy’s power, Mononobe filled Ryomen Sukuna’s stomach with a fine powder made from the crushed bones of ancient “traitorous clans” (like the Emishi or Tsuchigumo) eradicated by the Imperial Court.
Doesn’t the Zen’in kinda fit this label? Since they are in the process of getting removed from the three great families.
ch 152
Maki and Megumi are also deemed as traitors by the Zen’in clan, and perhaps by the Jujutsu Society/higher ups as well. Because they’re currently trying to free Gojo. Plus Megumi is on Yuji’s side and the higher ups clearly see Yuji as evil/dangerous and they want Yuji (Sukuna) dead.
ch 148
Anyway, Sukuna has a mouth on his stomach so it matches the urban legend. I’m guessing Mononobe cut open the stomach of the Urband Legend Sukuna so he could stuff it with the bone powder, thus creating the second mouth.
cover for ch 117
A huge mouth also exists in Sukuna’s domain expansion.
ch 8
ch 119
His domain expansion is called Fukumamizushi (伏魔御廚子) in Japanese. Fukuma (伏魔) means a place where demons hide while Mizushi (御廚子) means the place inside the palace where the emperor eats or the kitchen.
The name of Sukuna’s DE can be taken as “Sukuna’s kitchen” or “Emperor Sukuna’s dining place.”
“The kitchen of all deaths is here!!”
His innate domain also looks like the inside of a stomach.
So far Sukuna’s innate techniques are all related to cooking (Knives; dismantle and cleaves/filleting*, and Fire; flames |*the kanji hachi 捌 also means filleting fish) and we’ve seen him talking about his enemies in cooking term. He even 'employs' Uraume because of Uraume’s cooking skill.
Q: How long has Uraume known Sukuna?
A: Uraume has known Sukuna for 1000 years. Uraume is a human who’s allowed to stand next to Sukuna because Uraume could make delicious food. Uraume is also a sorcerer.
Q: Is Uraume a chef?
A: Sukuna likes to eat people, but it’s difficult to cook them, or rather only few people have the experience, but Uraume is excellent at this.
This character introduction implies that the reason why Sukuna allows Uraume to become his (only) follower is because of Uraume’s cooking skill. Weren't Uraume a good cook, Sukuna most likely wouldn't keep Uraume around.
Also, let’s not forget that it’s also mentioned in the official fanbook that Sukuna finds the most pleasure in eating.
三枚おろし is a culinary term for filleting a fish (into three slices).
味見 means tasting. The fight is a literal taste test for him.
“A delicious death begins with a careful preparation.”
The motif of eating and cooking is heavily emphasized on Sukuna. Even the way he gains control of Yuji’s body began with eating (Yuji ate Sukuna’s finger). Moreover Yuji is also a good cook, he taught Megumi to make meatballs.
(FYI in Gifu prefecture, there’s a giant dish called "Sukuna nabe" or Sukuna stew. Apparently this dish can serve approximately 2500 people. Gifu prefecture was the Hida province back then. It’s said that people of Hida liked Sukuna & considered him as a hero because he defeated a poisonous dragon and a demon called Shichina)
These are the reasons why I believe Sukuna will eat someone later, or at least try to. I’m willing to bet a huge amount of money on this. That mouth on his stomach isn’t there just for decorating, it’s for eating.
And since his interest is solely on Megumi, it’s logical to assume Megumi will become his prey in the future.
I mean, who else fits this position beside Megumi? The other person Sukuna acknowledges is Gojo (so far only Gojo and Megumi are referred to with their full names by Sukuna) but that acknowledgement doesn’t seem to go beyond killing—revenge against Gojo for humiliating him in ch 2/ep 3.
IMO if Sukuna does end up eating humans again later, the very first person he eats would be someone whom he considers special, like a fine grade-A ingredient. Basically the human version of wagyu beef or bluefin tuna.
He wouldn't eat just anybody, at least not at first, because it's stated in the fanbook that "it's difficult to cook them (humans)." So I don't think he would reserve such meticulous preparation for random nobodies. Besides it'd be his first meal after a thousand years of being sealed, so it's gotta be special.
And for what reason? Why would he want to eat Megumi? And why not now? Why wait?
Like many others I believe he wants to absorb Megumi’s power or ability once Megumi reaches his full potential, similar to what Getwo/Kenjaku did with Mahito to cast Maximum Uzumaki in order to create his ideal world, and also similar to the Urband Legend Sukuna ("to increase power").
u/Astral_M explained this in their post about the body is equal to the soul, thus consuming the body is equal to consuming the soul. Quoting them;
Because Sukuna's fingers (part of his body == soul) were preserved, his core of cursed energy is preserved. And Yuji is evidence of a very important concept: Consuming someone's body counts as consuming their cursed core, inheriting their technique!
source: WAYA - Anime Explanation (min 5:01)
I’ve seen multiple versions of translation/interpretations of this, the most common one is “Sukuna wants to create his ideal world with Megumi” I’m not trying to be nitpicking here but this version contains a different meaning from the one I screenshot, because it implies Sukuna wants Megumi to work together with him...... and I doubt that's exactly what Sukuna has in mind. I'm assuming the one I screenshot is the correct (more accurate) version because WAYA is a native Japanese speaker.
Also I think it's worth to note that it's not Gege who said this, it’s the interviewer. Gege’s answer/respond to it was fully censored, so we don’t know whether he actually agreed with this notion or not.
The interviewer then said this (in response to Gege's bleeped out answer);
Another translation;
source: _zanzou_
I don’t think Megumi is going to die (or get eaten) early. It’d happen in or near the final arc.
Megumi either dies in Sukuna/Yuji’s hands (depends if they manage to separate, I'm betting Sukuna's going to merge with Yuji though, because it fits the theme; conjoined twins + two faces), or he lives, because clearly Sukuna wouldn’t allow others to kill him.
Thanks for reading!
TL;DR Sukuna will definitely (try to) eat someone later and that someone is most likely going to be Megumi.

Demigod Dossier: Velstrac Demagogues, part 1
Pictured: Aroggus, the Abbey-Maker
Lawful Evil Mad Artists of the Shadow Plane
The Complete Book of the Damned, pg. 120~121 Additional information is also present in Adventure Path: Return of the Runelords: The City Outside of Time, pg. 74~79
Our second-ever Demigod Dossier, now fully in-swing! The Velstrac Demagogues are the rulers of the Shadow Plane and all the lives within, though many of said lives within aren’t really fans of them. Natives to the Netherworld find the presence of the Velstrac an annoyance at best and a threat to their lives at worst, and would much prefer if they went back to Hell where they came from, but unfortunately for everyone everywhere they don’t appear too eager to throw themselves into the jaws of the inferno just yet. Instead, they’re busy throwing themselves into the jaws of one another.
The Demagogues represent the pinnacle of a specific subset of the Velstrac’s twisted senses of ‘art’ and ‘perfection,’ either because they’ve mutilated themselves into something wholly unlike anything else that can, did, or could exist, or they’ve pioneered a form of artistry that other Velstrac couldn’t even conceptualize in the first place and gathered a fandom. It takes some very twisted, alien forms of thinking to become a Demagogue and get others rallied behind you, even moreso because the Velstrac themselves are, putting it kindly, completely out of their gourd. When your audience already expects the insane and outlandish, you have to go even further, and many of the fiends you’ll soon see have.
We’ll only be covering four in this initial post, with the rest to be saved for later...
Demagogues view mortals as little more than primal clay to be shaped, and thus see little worth in investing true divine power into them, worshipers receive Boons that are are relatively simple: a trio of spell-like abilities, each of which may be used 1/day. Boons are normally gained slowly, at levels 12, 16, and 20, however entering the Evangelist, Exalted, or Sentinel Prestige Classes can see the Boons gained as early as levels 10, 13, and 16. Note that while they are Lawful Evil fiends originally from Hell, they are not devils, thus you cannot enter the Diabolist Prestige Class to obtain their Boons without DM fiat.
Aroggus, the Abbey-Maker
Demagogue of Possibility, Revenge, and Sanctuary Domains: Evil, Law, Protection, Trickery Subdomains: Deception, Defense, Fear, Tyranny
Obedience: List the names of those who have wronged you until the writing covers a page, then consume the parchment. Benefit: Gain a +4 profane bonus on saving throws to resist compulsion effects.
What a completely normal, sane, and healthy thing to do! As the first of the Demagogues to flee from Hell, Aroggus is EXTREMELY angry at the devils for locking them up in the first place. Angry enough to want revenge on the whole of the diabolic race, as well as the Asura... Angry enough that he hasn’t yet even started getting around to enacting his revenge, instead just constantly thinking about and refining it as if no iteration of suffering is perfect enough to match his fury.
True to form, he wants you to ruminate in your anger rather than doing anything to enact your vengeance, blacking out a page with the names (or just one name) of all who’ve wronged you no matter how petty or insignificant the inconvenience they may have caused. Unfortunately, no two ways about it, you’re going to look insane (in the literal definition of the term) doing this every day, especially if you only have one or two people who’ve wronged you enough to get onto your list. Scrawling their name, front AND back, until the page is filled and then eating it is behavior that will raise eyebrows no matter who you’re adventuring with. Best to keep this one behind closed doors. Make sure you have a glass of activated charcoal after, because all of that ink day after day (unless you write with, I don’t know, berry juice or blood) is going to do amazingly terrible things to your constitution.
The benefit is good. Compulsions are typically Save-Or-Suck effects, so having more Save means less Suck for you later on. It’s useful at any point in your adventure, so I can’t say anything bad about it! My only wish is that it was a little stronger, since some other gods give +4 vs compulsion and charm effects.
Boon 1: Nondetection Boon 2: Forcecage Boon 3: Imprisonment
Nondectection is a good spell for those times when you need to sneak by diviners, hide magic items from scrutiny, avoid the gaze of a Paladin who’s a little too judicious with Detect Evil, or to add another layer of shroud over Invisibility and the like. It’s a spell that’s a pain to prepare every single day, but useful to have when you need it... but you only have one casting of it per day, so using it wisely is paramount. Ironically, it combines well with your own Divination to find out if you’ll even need it later. More often than not you won’t be using it at all except to idly ward yourself when going into town or diving into a dungeon.
Forcecage is a completely different animal, the offensive and defensive applications of the spell simply mind-blowing, to the point that keeping this to just one paragraph to save space is going to take some herculean effort on my part! So, the basics: Forcecage has two versions, both of which halt all movement through them: A 20ft square of force bars that allow spells, projectiles, and line-of-effect through, and a 10ft cube that blocks line-of-effect and all forms of magic and supernatural abilities. A Forcecage is effectively invincible (having Hardness 30 and 20hp/level) and impossible to move, so anyone trapped inside without the ability to teleport is likely to stay there for the spell’s duration. Also, to put it simply, shoving enemies in the cage is the main point, but if you cannot, a 10ft/20ft square is an enormous roadblock to stop up narrow passages with.
Which leaves Imprisonment, a portable hole you can shove all sorts of problems into, which will likely create new problems down the line if the target had anything you needed on them. I recommend knocking out a foe, stripping them of their valuables, and then shoving them into their baby jail for all eternity! With the Freedom spell being the only means to undo Imprisonment (even Wish and Miracle fail), you’ll have no actual way to undo the spell against any target you cast it on for one or two more levels, if at all (depending on the party composition). Make sure to use it only when the villain has no MacGuffins, or is a powerful recurring threat. Imprisonment works on anything and everything capable of failing the Will save (take note, anyone wanting to fight Kaiju, Great Old Ones, or Spawn of Rovagug), which gets a -4 penalty if you know the target’s name and some facts about its life, so famous villains are even more vulnerable to being thrown into the Eternity Marble!
------
Barravoclair, Lady of the Final Gasp
Demagogue of the Elderly, Fatalistic Insights, Resurrection Domains: Death, Evil, Healing, Law Subdomains: Murder, Restoration, Resurrection, Undead
Obedience: Practice breath control, holding your breath until you nearly pass out. Benefit: Gain a +4 profane bonus on checks to resist drowning and on saves against inhaled poisons.
A hell of a step down in terms of unhealthiness in terms of Aroggus, and significantly less suspicious, too. Breath control is practiced by people of all stripes, from athletes to explorers to simple monks attempting more profound meditation. While ‘nearly passing out’ is skirting an edge most people won’t approach, it’s not exactly as dangerous for you as, say, inhaling water or eating poison every day. Without any materials needed, the Lady of the Final Gasp is one of the simplest and probably the single cheapest Obedience ritual one could ask for! There is a minor caveat in that races who can’t breathe can’t technically do this Obedience at all, but those aren’t the audience Barravoclair wants anyway.
Unfortunately, the benefit is as weak as the Obedience is easy to do. Drowning is unlikely to come up as a danger unless you’re physically dragged into the water by a monster (which means holding your breath likely isn’t an option anyway), and inhaled poisons are the least common poison type in the game. Against the odd Catoblepas or Green Dragon it will come in handy, but it’s protection from injury poison you really need, which the Lady of the Final Gasp doesn’t provide.
Boon 1: Speak With Dead Boon 2: Resurrection Boon 3: Soul Bind
Alright, let’s face it. Some days, you need Speak With Dead to keep the plot running smoothly. Whether your overzealous DPS kills everyone in the room, your Fireball-lobbing Sorcerer kills everyone in the room, or your summoner’s unchained beasts kill everyone in the room, chances are at some point in your career you’re going to save the party a lot of headaches by being able to pull answers from a corpse. Having Speak With Dead available every day will likely not matter 80% of the time (meaning you can typically use it at your leisure just before going to bed), but much like with Water Breathing and spells like Remove Curse and Neutralize Poison, having it for those 20% of times you need it can keep the wheels spinning and stop unneeded side quests.
... And speaking of side quests and things you’ll need once in a blue moon, Resurrection? For free? Even 1/day? With the hefty cost of 10,000gp for the normal spell, even a well-off party will feel the impact every single time they have to use Rez, but the removal of the cost ups the power level of the spell by a margin so enormous that it doesn’t really matter what Boon you get before or after this one; THIS boon rewards worship of Barravoclair enough to justify putting up with her empty benefit. Even without factoring in the ability to raise party members, you can now curry favor with people of all stripes and demand all forms of insane payments for your ability to raise centuries-old dead at no cost but time... or do your work for free and call in favors at a later date. Do note, however, that you’ll also need someone else on standby to remove the negative levels/stat drain caused by the resurrection process.
I said it didn’t matter what the third Boon was and I stand by it. Unlike with the free Rez above, Soul Bind’s enormous cost still makes its use as anything but a once-per-campaign finisher of an annoying enemy irritating and unfeasible. Spell-likes normally require no components, but Soul Bind operates in a gray area of the rules in that its focus component becomes the subject for the spell, meaning that a DM can very easily and very rightly say you DO require the gemstone whose value must equal or exceed the target’s HD x 1,000. Binding even a simple 5 CR creature requires the tall order of a 5,000gp gemstone, and if you want to use it on a target that’s worthwhile, it gets expensive fast. It’s way cheaper and easier to just hire a Cacodaemon.
------
Fharaas, the Seer in Skin
Demagogue of Experience, Murder, and Patterns Domains: Evil, Knowledge, Law, Repose Subdomains: Ancestors, Fear, Memory, Souls
Obedience: Study the interior of a freshly severed limb. Benefit: You are immune to bleed effects that deal 6 damage or less.
This Obedience is deceptively simple for what its implication is. You’d best get yourself a Sack Of Rats or have access to a lot of disposable prisoners (or the Regenerate spell)! But thankfully, there’s some wiggle room in the wording: ‘freshly severed’ means no cheating and using Gentle Repose on the same arm over and over, but it ALSO means you can carry around a single corpse and slowly slice it apart, as the limbs themselves don’t have to be fresh, just freshly cut off for the purpose of the ritual. Also, you can use the bodies of Undead, Constructs, and any other creature that technically has severable limbs! Though Fharaas, the Seer In Skin, will likely punish you if your ritual doesn’t involve the examination of actual flesh.
You’re going to look really weird, is what I’m saying. At least if someone barges in on you, you can claim you’re inspecting them for something or other. Infection, signs of magic, etc, whatever you can come up with to blunt the blow. You can cover yourself moderately well by being a butcher or a hunter in your day job, as the severed limb doesn’t have to be human, or even sapient (hence why I suggest a Sack Of Rats), letting you freely slice up and examine your kills.
Bleed effects are fairly uncommon in the grand scheme of things but are also a pain in the neck to deal with in the middle of battle, so this giving a +4 bonus aga--wait, sorry, hold on no, this isn’t a bonus to saving throws? Or skill checks to heal bleed? It just... Stops them if they deal 6 or less damage? You don’t even have to make a save?
Okay. Okay, alright. So you’re just immune to bleed, then?
More or less, really. There are very few monsters that deal more than d6 bleed damage with their attacks (be warned that higher-level ones can sometimes stack their bleed!), and this ability also works on the rare but dreaded stat bleed, and off the top of my head there are NO monsters that deal more than a d4 dice in stat bleed damage. My main problem is that it doesn’t reduce the bleed damage you take by 6, so taking even 1 more point of bleed damage makes this ability useless. Still, though it’s fairly narrow, being effectively immune to a dangerous and irritating status ailment at level 3 or so (when bleed is at its most threatening) is well worth taking up butchery.
Boon 1: Keen Edge Boon 2: Vision Boon 3: Foresight
Keen Edge is a spell you absolutely want to slap onto any vaguely pirate-y or hoity-toity party member you may have, as cutlasses, rapiers, and scimitars all leap from a dangerous 18~20 critical range to a terrifying 15~20, meaning they threaten to critically strike 1 out of every 4 attacks instead of just once every other fight or so. With a duration of 10 min/level, the enchantment will likely last multiple fights even if you only have it 1/day, but unfortunately it refuses to stack with any crit-boosting enchantments or feats the wielder may already possess, lessening its usefulness as your adventure goes on and your martial party members pick up increasingly fancy gear and pad out their collection of feats. Still, it’s useful for when you get it, and will remain useful for several levels after.
Vision is a whole different beast, and a dangerous one at that. It operates as the Legend Lore spell but vastly accelerated, allowing you to scrape the public consciousness for any information it may have on a specific person, place, or thing. I’ve complained about the general niche uses of Legend Lore before, but Vision grants the information in a much shorter time (a single standard action) at the cost of a potential for failure and a slap of fatigue whether you succeed or not. I don’t like 1/days that do nothing on a failure, but since Vision is purely a downtime spell (unless you need to know the boss’ weakness or info on the Evil Doom Artifact right now immediately), it’s not as much of an impediment to lose out on whatever information it could give you. That being said, the DM will likely have ways for you to do whatever plot-relevant research you need anyway, so Vision is more of a way to speed up the process than anything.
Which leaves Foresight, a spell whose main benefit relies intensely on DM cooperation, as I’ve ranted about here. Mechanically it’s fairly unimpressive, but if the DM reads the spell carefully, they should realize it gives whoever you cast it on a 6-second glance into the future at all times. Whatever horrors befall the victim 6 seconds from now should spring into your mind before they happen, making you the best trap radar on the planet, and the spell’s warnings for the best ways to protect yourself will urge the DM to grant you information about the enemy’s capabilities you may never otherwise know... but what do you expect from 9th level magic? It SHOULD be filling you in with details you’d never figure out!
------
Inkariax, the White Death
Demagogue of Preservation, Absolute Cold, and Solitude Domains: Evil, Law, Void, Water Subdomains: Fear, Ice, Isolation, Slavery
Obedience: Inventory your collection of hoarded knickknacks, reciting your unique name for each item as you do Benefit: Gain a +4 profane bonus on saving throws to resist effects that would petrify or paralyze you.
God, finally, someone normal. At worst you’ll look like someone with a few obsessive issues, but at least you won’t look like a menace to society as you lay out your, I dunno, marbles or bone dice or dolls or what have you and make note that they’re still there, cooing to them with names only you know. It’s fitting for Inkariax, of all the Demagogues, to have an Obedience that requires no self-harm, physically or psychologically; unlike all the rest, he was born perfect and doesn’t need to chase after it. Instead, he pursues finding perfection in others, freezing and collecting people and items he believes represent perfection in whatever unusual way he desires that day (having perfect posture, or a perfect scream, or a perfect pair of eyes, etc). Much like him, you’re encouraged to expand a collection of whatever you deem perfect and desirable, which you’re often going to do just over the course of normally adventuring. I’ve yet to see a player character that doesn’t start amassing all sorts of junk in their pockets the moment they get a Bag of Holding or similar.
Indeed, you can just pick up whatever catches your fancy, be it stones, sticks, or severed bits of an enemy, though I’m sure Inkariax will ever-so-slowly raise a disapproving eyebrow if you just pick up any old junk. Make sure to curate your collection now and then! Being able to perform this Obedience with anything you happen to gather is especially helpful if you’re ever separated from your collection (always a danger) and need to start again, but note that each item you gain in your collection must have a completely unique name. That’s only really a danger for especially RP-heavy campaigns, but in such campaigns Worship of the White Death isn’t for everyone who just names all their collected bird feathers Jeffery. Start getting in the habit of stretching out your inventory sheet with names for all your items!
The benefit you get from lovingly counting up all your stolen statuettes and dusty books is resistance to two of the worst status effects in the game. While petrification is relatively rare it typically appears in Save-Or-Suck form, which makes protection against it far more valuable than, say, protection against something like the far more common fatigue or exhaustion. Paralysis is an ailment just short of a death sentence by itself, costing the victim their turn at best and their life at worst, so even a +4 between you and that is something you need to cling to with your entire being.
Boon 1: Sleet Storm Boon 2: Sequester Boon 3: Microcosm
Sleet Storm is a very simple spell with a decent number of functions. Its Long range means that any enemy in your line of sight can potentially be a target, letting you lash out easily at ranged enemies or dangerous casters by creating a 40ft-wide and 20ft-tall area of concealing sleet that’s impossible for any vision to pierce (except the rare and niche Snowsight or Fogcutter Lenses). Anyone inside will have to rely on Tremorsense or Blindsense (though the jury’s out on if the splashing of the sleet would confound those, as well) to navigate it, and 40ft of difficult terrain can feel impossible to clamber through when you start right in the middle of it with no idea which way is the way you need to go. It’s one of the strongest vision-blockers in the game due to its immunity to common tactics that thwart lesser spells (Gust of Wind, True Seeing, etc), forcing enemies to either blow their valuable uses of Dispel Magic or suffer for its entire duration. My only complaint is that you only get it 1/day and that it screws over your party just as hard if you use it incorrectly.
Sequester is as niche a use spell as there ever was for players, requiring a bit of forethought about what or who you’d want to hide with it. The target must be willing or inanimate to be affected, so tricking an enemy via Charm or Dominate into accepting the spell can keep them fresh as a daisy for weeks at a time if you ever have a reason to do such a thing. More often than not you’ll use it to conceal items you seriously don’t want seen or detected, such as a Bag of Holding or similar loaded with your collection of knickknacks or emergency supplies, a particular hostage, an NPC you need to keep alive, or your phylactery if you’re a Lich. If you’re especially sadistic, using it on an item someone else needs and throwing it into a well or a hoard of other objects will keep them occupied for a while. If you’re a more martial character, using it to hide your armor is viable, making it seem as though you’re invincible when enemy blows bounce straight off, or even your weapon to confound your enemies who seem to be taking wounds from an unseen item. Your mime routine will be killer, literally! Just... Just don’t drop the thing, because in the heat of battle you’re never going to find it.
Microcosm is one of the best spells you can hurl into a crowd of commoners or a swarm of foes meant to gum you up instead of actually threaten you. Its 30 HD limit will mean it likely will only strike one or two creatures capable of actually threatening you, but it’s brutal even then. The spell is permanent, trapping your victims in an illusory world in which everything goes right for them even as their bodies starve to death in the waking world. Anything with less than 10 HD is automatically affected with no saving throw, the spell easily mopping up mobs, while anything with 11~15 HD escapes automatically after 10 min... per level you have. On a successful save. There’s Save-Or-Suck, and then there’s the immensely rare Save-And-Suck! No wonder Microcosm is ONLY on the Psychic’s list! Anything with more than 16 HD is unaffected if they succeed their save, but all their allies are likely in an everlasting dreamland now. The big issue is that the HD restriction is way tighter than you may think; creatures, especially at higher levels, usually do NOT have HD matching their CR, but if you’re mainly battling level-appropriate Humanoid or Monstrous Humanoid creatures, Microcosm is fairly reliable in such battles, as those foes typically have HD that roughly matches their CR. But if you’re up against, say, Dragons or Outsiders, good luck bud.
Side note: Microcosm and Sequester used in combination make for excellent ways to start your own morbid collection of living creatures, just like your icy master! Just make sure you have some non-Divination means of seeing them, as Sequester blocks even True Sight.

Odelloyd (Yodel shipping)
Since @minecraftninjerkid expressed interest I wrote a particularly long post about Odette and Lloyd Garmadon's relationship. It's basically set in my AU of the while Ninjago canon. It's pretty angsty in some parts, and honestly I love this couple because it's a story of two individuals who learn to trust and like TALK with each other and work out their issues together! Plus I feel like if Lloyd needed another love interest within canon it should be someone who can match his energy, a strong young lady who works side by side with him!
Harumi is still the princess but now she has a LADY IN WAITING!! YAYAY
Mostly because she needed a morality pet in some way but also a foil to show if Harumi hadn't been so consumed by personal demons
Odette was a homeless orphan living on the streets with her sister; often stealing from food carts to feed themselves
One night Odette made the mistake of stealing from one of the SOG and they catch her and bring her to their base
Instead of being mad Harumi was impressed by her thieving skills and decided to recruit her. Odette didn't want to at first but then she had second thoughts thinking the extra money could help her and baby sis
So Harumi brings her back and manages to convince the Emperor and Empress to hire Odette as a lady in waiting & decoy if Harumi needed to sneak out to do her business Odette is So instead of it being Harumi it's Odette who stays and befriends the ninja
Odette had NO IDEA her friend plotted to blow up the palace - with her still inside - not great thinking there o' Quiet One
She also had no idea how AWESOME Lloyd is on a motorcycle: "Sweet moves grasshopper!"
They stop at several places gathering clues on the location on the final mask leaving a lot of time for Lloyd and odette to bond; for the first time in forever Odette starts to enjoy life again
The Ninja take Odette in and decide to search for the final mask. Odette does what she can to help out (and find info) getting close to them and my OCs
Lloyd even buys her a gift: a lotus shaped hairpin to replace the one she lost in the palace fight
The jungle incident happens; Lloyd and Odette separates for a while and she comes across the real princess who had stalked the group the whole time undercover
But she's afraid that her big secret might come out everywhere she goes she's often looking over her shoulder
Odette starts to really enjoy the Ninja's company and all her perceived notions about them fade; but she still had to find Harumi to try to talk her out of her plot
Odette meets up with Lloyd inside the caves and they look for the final mask. Finally they see it and Lloyd grabs it, happy that they found the masks before the gang did but notices Odette isn't feeling the same
She's tells Harumi that they're all making a HUGE mistake with the Masks; Harumi of course refuses and orders her to stick to the plan or else
He asks her what's wrong and that's when Odette becomes hysterical and begs Lloyd to destroy the mask or run
Lloyd doesn't know whay she's talking about and tries to calm her down suddenly they hear some sarcastic clapping and in steps in Harumi. Dressed in full Royal Garb
Lloyd is confused and doesn't understand looking back and forth between the newly revealed Princess and the one next to him
Harumi reveals that she is - was - the real princess and that Odette was acting as her decoy to spy on the ninja. She hadn't count on Lloyd catching feelings for Odette which made it all the more sweeter
Odette pleas with Lloyd claiming that while she was ordered to spy, her feelings for him and his friends were genuine. Lloyd coldly brushes he brushes her off and calls her a liar and demands Harumi why she planned all this. The Princess explains that the Ninja failed to save her family from the Great Devourer & that it was Lloyd himself who unleashed such monster on the city killing her parents and several civilians
Harumi also revealed that she had the Emperor and Empress assassinated as punishment for their inaction during that event, and subsequent failure in treating her like a person. "They didn't want a daughter they wanted a Princess."
Harumi takes out her knife and begins attacking Lloyd; Odette watches helplessly as they fight and in the ensuing chaos Harumi knicks Lloyd and orders Odette to return to their group
The Ninja wait by the docks and discovers Odette and the real princess together. They're shocked to see two Princesses; the real Harumi admits her plan knowing they wouldn't last for long to do anything to stop her. An Angry Kai yells at Odette for selling them out
Then the monster attack happens because it is drawn to the mask's essence; Lloyd saves Odette from being crushed, she tries to use the brief chance to explain but he still brush her off
The SOG board their ship and leaves; Odette wallows in guilt Harumi snarky asks her if she really thinks the Ninja are her friends. Odette shakes her head no and looks out the window praying for them to be alright
Back at the city the SOG takes Misako (and Cole's gf Rhenée) hostage to draw Lloyd out. Odette is no longer in her casual clothes but in SOG attire; at the ritual she pretends to be clumsy hoping to stall the ritual long enough
Rhenée asks Odette if she's willing to risk her soul for the terrible actions of other, hoping that Odette can make the right choice. This makes her think about her placement in the SOG
Suddenly the ninja crashes the party just in time and battles the gang. Odette frees Rhenee and Misako and allows herself to be apprehended
Outside she's sitting in the police van when Lloyd walks by and she begs him to hear her out. He wants to listen but is furious with her for betraying them and cuts her off
The ninja head to a bar to celebrate their victory; Lloyd has an honest talk with his mother about Harumi and vows to never trust again. Rhenée says that while Odette lied to them she notices that she's very different from the rest of the SOG
At the jailhouse Odette is sobbing at having lost everything - her friends, her life, and maybe even her sister. She takes out the lotus pin and is about to throw it way when she hears some commotion outside. Apparently the ritual brought back a monster. Fearing for her sister's safety she uses the pin to unlock her cell and sneaks out
Lloyd is too occupied with protecting Baby Wu to fight off Harumi; before she knocks him off Odette arrives & saves him and the baby
In the chaos the Monster arrives and tries to crush them all, Odette gives Lloyd enough time to escape but she falls to her supposed death in the process
Once the battle is over the four original ninjas are nowhere to be seen and are presumed dead
They find out Odette disappeared also, and believe her to he dead too
Harumi and her gang express joy at their enemies demise; and the gang no longer recognize Odette as their own seeing her as a traitor. Deep down Harumi feels a tiny bit pain over the loss of her only real friend but quickly sets that aside to prepare one last scheme
Lloyd grieves Odette's loss regretting they never had the chance to really TALK about what happened between them.
Unknown to everyone, the ninja and Odette were transported to the First Realm
Seasons 9&10 ramps up the angst
Cole is the first one who demands to hear her explanation. Odette explains her backstory and says whole none of it justifies her lies she has now become aware of her actions and is willing to help the ninja FOR REAL FOR REAL
The ninja do NOT want Odette anywhere near them after her betrayal and for a while shuns her.
Zane is the second one; his relationship with former merc Jetta he understands a bit what it's like to choose bad things for survive
Jay and Kai takes the longest: Jay because he's paranoid that Odette may just be evil and insane as Harumi; Kai because he is very protective of Lloyd (who he sees as a younger brother, and even had begun to saw Odette as another sister) and furious that she'd hurt him and their whole team like that
This leads to a series of trials for Odette to prove that she's willing to atone; she actually finds the last dragon's nest and vows to protect it
Meanwhile in Ninjago the city started an underground resistance led by Lloyd and Nya; Lloyd took in Odette's sister to take care of her now that she is gone
Odette and the Ninja finds a way out of the first realm and arrives with their new dragons. Odette splits off to confront Harumi and sees her on top of a building...which is about to fall much to her horror
Lloyd witnesses the scene and shouts Odette's name; the building collapses and he sinks to his knees in fear
Everyone watches with baited breath and cheers as they see both girls and the dragon coming out of the smoke alive
Lloyd and Odette apologize to each other then go off with their friends to fight off the Oni invasion
Once everything is over & Harumi decides to turn a new leaf and surrenders, everyone gathers at the monastery to celebrate. Wu invites Odette and her sister a permanent home with them
After s10 they don't get back together that quickly. Lloyd still has trust issues as in canon and Odette feels like shit believing herself to tbe the cause. Lloyd says it's not her fault, he's simply fed up with random villains coming at him for the crime of being the Chosen One.™
Odette isn't exactly let off easy by the public; there's multiple conspiracies about her and stuff and some aren't exatly forgiving her for working with a group that killed the royal family and destroyed the city. In order to redeem herself in the eyes of the public Odette starts training to become a real Ninja, doing little side missions to help people even something as simple as helping little old ladies use an escalator. Lloyd supports her every step of the way, using his popularity "and natural charisma" to dispel any rumors about her.

(gudrun avenges her brother in 'atlakviða', a poem in the old norse poetic and elder eddas)
"you aren't a flower, you're every blossom in the wood blooming at once. you are a tidal wave. you're a stampede. you are overwhelming." ('crooked kingdom' by leigh bardugo)
"from the passenger seat, ronan began to swear at adam. it was a long, involved swear, using every forbidden word possible, often in compound-word form. as adam stared at his lap, penitent, he mused that there was something musical about the ronan when he swore, a careful and loving precision to the way he fit the words together, a black-painted poetry. it was far less hateful sounding than when he didn't swear." ('the raven cycle' by maggie stiefvater)
"but where was god now, with heaven full of astronauts, and the lord overthrown? i miss god. i miss the company of someone utterly loyal. i still don't think of god as my betrayer. the servants of god, yes, but servants by their very nature betray. i miss god who was my friend. i don't even know if god exists, but i do know that if god is your emotional role model, very few human relationships will match up to it. i have an idea that one day it might be possible, i thought once it had become possible, and that glimpse has set me wandering, trying to find the balance between earth and sky. if the servants hadn't rushed in and parted us, i might have been disappointed, might have snatched off the white samite to find a bowl of soup." C.M. Top 10: Characters who have suffered a fate worse than death
Warning: The following top ten may contain disturbing &/or gore images. Along with possible spoilers so for your safety & others read at your own risk or don't read it. You've been warned...
1. RWBY - the Hound's true face
In Vol.8 of RWBY, Ruby & friends struggled for life facing the dangerous Hound Grimm. After hurting it, Ruby then horrifically discovers that this particular Grimm was in fact once a person who also has silver eyes like Ruby. But he was warped & deranged by Salem's dark control. Who was this silver eyed Faunus? & why would such an evil being gain by turning him into a Grimm abomination besides hunting victims down?
Better question is are there others like him...?
2. League of Legends - the tale of Fiddlesticks
The story of Fiddlesticks is one of horrors told to children to scare them. Many were told but this one was the most feared.
Long ago he was once a lonely farm man who kept to himself & stayed to his crop fields paying no mind to anyone in the village town. But during a time of drought, famine & poor cropping, the villagers of his hometown blamed him because of his appearance & left him bound to a post to starve to death.
He was then attacked & eaten by a murder of crows, pecking his insides till there was nothing left of him. But one horrid night he revived as a terrorizing living scarecrow of sorts that hunted down anyone at night who has terror in their hearts.
& thus he became known as Fiddlesticks the Ancient Fear or better known as the Terror...
3. Transformers Prime - Cliffjumper returns as a Terrorcon
After his return from deep space, Megatron finds a dark shard from the Blood of Unicron. For the legend told that it holds the power to revive the dead, but at a horrible cost. When Megatron used it on Cliff's corpse, he was reborn a Terrorcon Zombie, a mindless creature who's only instinct is to destroy anything in it's path...
He was then finally put to rest by Arcee & their team. Hopefully now he's finally at peace.
4. Digimon Frontier - Koichi becomes Duskmon
In the old series of Digimon Frontier a young man named Koichi Kimura is chosen by the Digital Spirit of Darkness to be the next Digi Destined. However an evil digimon named Cherubimon had bigger plans for him by turning him into the Digital World's most dangerous Hybrid Digimon, becoming the infamous Duskmon. A being born from the pure form of Darkness, warped into a corrupted warrior of evil.
& was brainwashed to hunt down the other Digi Destined. Thankfully he managed to break free from Cherubimon's control & his Digital Spirit becomes pure again.
5. Diablo - Diablo's possessions
Diablo Lord of Terror had possessed humans before for centuries. But he can only possess those who are compatible to his control. & only two were the most useful to his whims.
During Diablo 2 he took hold of King Leoric's son Albrecht after instilling much fear into his soul. But he was then slain & imprisoned into the Black Soulstone for decades. But decades later after his death he broke free again to possess his own daughter Leah becoming the perfect vessel for his power to literally break the Heavens.
However his plans for domination came to an end when the Nephilim stopped him to avenge Leah. Wherever her spirit is I truly hope it's at peace...
6. Star Wars Rebels - The Inquisitor's force spirit enslaved by Darth Vader
After the Grand Inquisitor fell to his death during his battle with Kanan, his dark spirit was imprisoned in an old High Republic Jedi Temple by Darth Vader to serve as a reminder to those who fail him. & to be used as a tool to trap any possible Jedi seeking knowledge of the Force.
For even in his last words "there are things worse than death..."
7. Kaijudo - Ray's father mutated into a kaiju human hybrid
In the Kaijudo series Ray's father discovered the truth about his missing memories & learned that the Choten was lying & using him the whole time. However he was too late to stop him & was mutated by his Forced Evolution Serum. Over time his poor creature Humonculon mutated allover his body becoming Humonguru. Luckily Ray found a way to cure both his father & creature, turning them back to normal.
Hopefully nothing like this ever happens to others again.
8. Wakfu - Nox's Mindless Puppets
While Grougaloragran was battling Noximilian. Nox summons his mindless puppets Marama, Frisco & Tartufo. They were powerful warriors who managed to help take the mighty dragon down in the end. Question is who were these warriors in their past life before Nox turned them into mummified Xelor Puppets?
They must've been good men once, probably legendary warriors of their time.
Sadly we may never know their stories, but hopefully these poor bastards are finally at peace not being controlled by Nox anymore.
9. DC Universe - the Soultaker
The ancient katana blade the Soultaker or ソウルテイカー (Souruteikā) was forged by a legendary swordsman Muramasa. The blade is said to possess the power of claiming the souls of it's evil victims it cuts through & kills. It is also known to trap them inside it's enchanted blade never to be freed.
However rather they deserve it or not it's still a fate worse than death...
10. Seven Deadly Sins - Meliodas' curse
After Meliodas & Elizabeth battled their parents the Goddess Queen & the Demon King. They both cursed their own children for ever falling in love with each other & betraying their clans. Elizabeth cursed by the Demon King made her to die & reincarnate over & over, losing her memories of Meliodas. However Meliodas suffered a curse just as worse than hers, for whenever he dies & returns from death, his emotions become consumed & turns back into the bloodthirsty warrior he used to be.
Will he be able to be the new king of the Demon Race & break both their curse? We will soon wait & see...

Claudia—Just what’s so bad about Dark Magic anyway?
Ah, Claudia. Everyone’s favorite dorky Dark Mage. Even as she continues her journey to villainy, we can’t help but find her at least a little adorable.
She’s undoubtedly likable, which makes a lot of what she does even more unsettling. We’re used to villains like Viren, who are so obviously villains even if they have somewhat good intentions.
But Claudia? She seems to have a good heart and cares about people outside of simply what they can do for her. Even if she may not reciprocate Callum’s feelings, she’s still clearly fond of him.
In S2, she’s genuinely supportive of her brother, telling him that them being alive matters more than succeeding in their missions. She also comforts Ezran and even helps mend his relationship with Callum, reminding him just how lucky they are to have each other.
As I lay out here, Claudia very much resembles Callum in the earlier chapters; both are bookish nerds, adorably awkward, and with an affinity towards magic. And while Callum starts to move away from this resemblance, we can see why Claudia is so likable.
Claudia can be caring and sweet. That’s why it’s so tragic and painful to watch her continue to cross moral lines, to the point that she is now thoroughly antagonistic to Team Zym, with any hope of total redemption being slim at best.
Now, I can’t talk about Claudia without first talking about Dark Magic. You see, while Dark Magic is terrible, the show doesn’t explicitly lay out exactly why it’s terrible. It merely illustrates how it works, portrays people using it for a variety of reasons, and then lets the audience decide how it feels about it. This is all intentional—Aaron and Justin have expressly stated they didn’t want to push too hard on the point that Dark Magic is wrong, instead leaving it for fans to make up their own minds. As a result, some fans sincerely believe there’s nothing wrong with it.
And that’s why we have Claudia. Someone who is sweet and sincere, relatable enough that you picture being friends with.
Someone who also sees nothing wrong with Dark Magic, defends using it, and even tries to use it for supposedly good reasons.
Because there’s no explicit reason given for why Dark Magic is so uniquely evil, the onus is on us, the viewers, to figure this out on our own.
There have been several fan attempts at explaining why Dark Magic is so bad, but for me, at least, I always felt we were missing something.
It might be wrong because it requires Dark Mages to sacrifice innocent creatures. But then again, humans in the real world consume animals all the time.
The logical response to this is that unlike, for instance, eating, Dark Magic is not natural nor necessary. However, we do all sorts of unnatural things with animals as well. For instance, we’ve created animal glue, whale oil for lamps, and leather from cattle. We’ve used creatures as working animals as well as for their cells to develop cures and vaccines. Without arguing that Dark Magic is defensible, this just helps illustrate the larger point that there must be something else that makes Dark Magic worse than any of this.
Another argument I’ve heard is that it permanently destroys magical habitats. The reason why the Human Kingdoms are much less magical than Xadia is that Dark Mages have poached and pillaged all the creatures they could. This could all very well be true, but it’s also what human beings do on the regular in the real world; as a rule, wherever industrial civilization lays down its roots, animal extinctions follow, intentionally or not. If Dark Magic is supposed to be an indictment of the way our society works today and the ecological problems we’ve caused, then we deserve it.
But many of us (hopefully) are working to change that, even if it means making life harder for us. The solution to climate change ultimately comes in the form of learning to live sustainably and in harmony with the world around us. One day, we’ll find a balance to our way of life, but if we can, why can’t Dark Mages? Why can’t Dark Magic users learn to moderate and regulate their behavior the way we could, and sustainably find ways to use the same magic that elves and dragons take for granted?
It also doesn’t help that characters who hate Dark Magic the most are also hypocritical about it. Sol Regem argues that Dark Magic causes the death of innocent creatures…while threatening to burn down a city filled with innocent people. Perhaps he opposes Dark Magic, not for ethical or benevolent reasons, but because it shifts the balance of power too much in favor of these so-called “lesser beings.” So, we can’t take his assessment of Dark Magic with anything more than a grain of salt.
But, at the end of the day, Dark Magic is a bad thing. Even if we can’t place our finger on exactly why, we know there’s just something wrong with it.
And that’s where Claudia comes in.
She too doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with Dark Magic— Why should she? It’s no different than anything else humans do, it helps keep people alive, and keeps us from starving and being helpless. Whether you eat them or take their magic, they’re just a resource.
But over time, as she relies more on Dark Magic as her universal problem-solver, we see her cross more and more ethical boundaries.
In most of the first two seasons, Claudia’s uses of Dark Magic come entirely from whatever she happens to carry in her bag or little critters she finds here or there.
And, for the most part, she tries to do the right thing. Claudia understands how powerful Zym could one day become, and from her perspective, there is a risk that he could, in her words, reign “death and destruction down on all of us.”
Claudia honestly believes that finding the Dragon Prince and bringing the princes home is what’s best for Katolis. Initially, she believes that Rayla had kidnapped the boys, and later she still insists her actions are for the greater good.
She’s willing to cross certain lines, such as manipulating and betraying Callum and Ezran, but shows signs that she regrets doing so.
But she starts off at crossing these relatively smaller moral lines, before working her way to more reprehensible behaviors. By the end of S2, she crosses a line when she uses a living creature to cure Soren’s paralysis.
After this moment, we see that she’s willing to justify an ever-growing list of horrible actions without any regrets. Whether it’s overthrowing and imprisoning Ezran, wiping out Lux Aurea, or turning the entire army into mindless rage-fueled minions, and even possibly letting Viren’s illusion strike down Ezran.
By the time she resurrects Viren, most likely by using a poor unfortunate elf who stumbled upon her, she’s past the point of feeling remorse for what she feels she has to do.
And why?
She places all of her faith in Viren because he’s family. She values her family above all else, and finds that Dark Magic is an easy, reliable way to keep it all together.
As a result, her character’s arc helps show what’s fundamentally wrong with Dark Magic—because it’s such an easy fix to all her problems, Claudia is tempted to lean on Dark Magic in more unethical ways.
In Lord Acton’s famous maxim, power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
And Dark Magic is power incarnate.
Dark Magic is far more versatile than Primal Magic. Whereas Primal Magic lets a mage use spells by harmonizing with nature, Dark Magic is simply about harnessing power in its raw form.
It’s not merely a shortcut that lets you bypass having an Arcanum or a Primal Stone. Certain practices within Dark Magic are not possible elsewhere.
If Callum had mastered Sky Magic by the time Rayla goes to save Pyrrah, he could have made short work of Soren and his forces with his winged form, but actually freeing the dragon from its chains would have still been no easy task.
But with Dark Magic, all Callum needed was a spell. A single spell and the chains are turned into snakes. The soldiers are driven away, and the dragon is free.
You can’t do that with Primal Magic.
We haven’t seen a limit to what Dark Magic can do for you, provided you have the materials. It can swap souls.
Or take them.
It can provide safe passage across the Breach.
It could taint or even destroy sources of Primal Magic.
Dark Magic isn’t bad just because it relies on sacrificing creatures. It’s bad because it tempts users with the power to redesign and reorganize the fabric of the world around them, potentially at the expense of Primal Sources themselves.
Dark!Callum sums up this temptation perfectly:
“You can have unlimited power. And you can choose what to do with that power. You can make a real difference in the world!”
And sadly, it’s a temptation that Claudia falls for time and time again. Once Claudia wields this power, she’s tempted to abuse it, even if it just begins as an attempt to protect her loved ones. And the more she abuses it, the harder it is to stop.
She shows that the temptation to use Dark Magic and how it distorts the world is what makes the practice so terrible and so terrifying that it shouldn’t be used in any circumstance.
@batfamfan1(who gave me permission to bring up our conversation here) had argued that Claudia’s use of Dark Magic was different from Viren and Aaravos, because she at least uses Dark Magic for good (or what she sees as good). That is, she cures or protects her family.
However, I’d argue that it’s not as simple as that. Claudia indeed sacrifices a deer because she wanted to cure Soren, but had she ever considered what Soren wanted? There’s a reason why, for instance, doctors disclose all relevant facts and treatments to a patient and let them make an informed decision, even if the doctor believes only one of those treatments is the best option. It’s not just about a cure, it’s about the agency of the patient. This becomes even more important when it’s not a professional responsibility to a patient, but a duty to respect the free will of someone you love.
Claudia never respects Soren’s agency. Even when he’s come to terms with his condition, she has not. She wants to keep trying to find a cure even while he’s beginning to move on. And, when she does find a cure, she never tells him about it beforehand, never tells him what it would cost, and never tries to get his approval.
This is different from Rayla in 2x08 who, in spite of knowing it’s a bad idea to let Ezran leave on his own, lets him go. Or Callum, who, in spite of thinking that Rayla staying on the Spire is a bad idea, simply lays out all the relevant information to Rayla and lets her make the decision for herself.
This is because, when you love or care about someone, that has to include letting them make their own choices, even if you don’t agree.
Claudia never does this with Soren because, again, it’s not about him, but about her. She has a personal need, however tragic, to keep her family together and healthy.
She’ll do what she can to fill that need, even if she has to play goddess to do so.
For that reason, she isn’t using Dark Magic for someone else’s benefit but her own. Much like Viren, whose stated goal to defend humanity was really just a cover for his desire to be powerful, Claudia’s goal to protect her family is really about protecting her state of mind. To do that, she needs to become powerful as well.
Her inability to see just what’s wrong with Dark Magic, combined with her need to maintain this portrait of a healthy family alive, means she will always be tempted to try another Dark Magic spell that will simply cure everything and will never look back once she tries it.
This is different than, for instance, Callum. As I describe here, he’s seen the world that Rayla shows him and begins to see magic the way she does. It’s not a tool; it’s a phenomenon, a vibrance or a spirit to things.
He understands, at least in an unstated way, that there’s something fundamentally wrong about Dark Magic, because it threatens that vibrancy.
Interestingly, unlike Claudia, who sees it as an easy solution to everything, Callum is suspicious because it’s too easy:
“But that’s just it! Too easy! Even though I know it’s wrong.”
Because of this, Claudia’s character arc helps illuminate what’s wrong with Dark Magic, even if the show doesn’t go out of its way to tell us. It’s a temptation for people who want to be powerful, and it makes them just powerful enough to abuse it.
And before you know it, you’ve lost your way.
