Unpopular opinion maybe?
If people can make half a dozen stories changing and romanticising the tale of Hades and Persephone, people should be able to do the same for Zeus and Ganymede.

I've been reading Dungeon Meshi. I'm almost caught up to where the are in the show, and I haven't been able to get this quote out of my head in regards to Laios and Marcille:
Tumblr media
This is about the lengths Marcille using black magic and a dragon corpse to resurrect Falin. This is about the party eating monsters. This is about them hanging that man in chapter 2 so that his body could be found by corpse retrievers.
This is about how others react to this knowledge. Especially, this is about how people react to Laios. Maybe he's just an easy target - he doesn't hide what his party is doing, he isn't ashamed, he doesn't know how to mask - maybe it's that hes the leader, the one who's ordering all this to happen.
We the readers know Laios' true motivations - love and passion - so its funny when people like Kabru assume hes some kind of villain. Laios? That guy?? Of course he isn't a villain, how silly it is to even suggest that he might be!
But like, taking a step back, forgetting that his motivations are sympathetic, it's easy to understand why others might think that he's dangerous. He is dangerous. Not because he's the strong, not because he's smart, but because when he sets his eyes on a goal, he gets it done. No matter what stands in his way.

Gonna go 911 negative for a minute, so look away if you're not into that.
But I am bothered by the focus on Buck with Gerrard in the new description. I mean, I generally understand why Buck would struggle with Gerrard when Bobby's gone and Buck has recently realized he's bisexual. But it bothers me so SO much that they have brought back Gerrard (and Tommy, though it's obviously a little different from the Gerrard bullshit—but still TWO characters from that same era) and don't seem to be doing anything at all with the fact that Gerrard totured Hen and Chimney because he's a racist, homophobic, misogynistic piece of shit. Like HOW have Hen and Chimney not been incorporated into this story in any significant way yet??
And maybe they will be. It's just concerning to me that Buck is the only one with the mention in regards to Gerrard. Which could well mean nothing—they do often provide episode and season descriptions that separate each character and give them a line that doesn't fully reflect the extent to which other characters are involved in their storylines.
But it is making me uncomfortable nonetheless. :/

me thinking it’s good that claudia is not played by a child since child actors is a very tricky area vs me thinking about how the storyline won’t be as impactful when claudia is portrayed by an actress who is 18; fight

jfkfkdkddk i just realised it's gonna take me a couple months to release my video essay so maybe i'll just blurt out some of my tanz der vampire hot takes now
- ALFRED IS THE MAIN CHARACTER come on you guys,,, you can like and be interested in other characters but it's a problem when the show itself doesn't remember how it was written. The very structure of the show (music, dialogue, plot, scenes) rebels against trying to change this and productions that push him aside just end up jumbled and messy. It's literally a main reason Kunze hated Broadway Tanz
- tied to this, so many people view carpe noctem as this "haha weird random nightmare dance number, guess it was added to pad the runtime" like no... that is literally a way for the show to metaphorically recap and further develop the central themes of the show to the audience at the beginning of act 2... open your eyes...
- I'll take Kunze's "tdv is a musical symbolizing the fall of the berlin wall" (true take of his) over "a longterm relationship with krolock is the ultimate way for sarah to liberate herself" any day. 😭

cannot relate to people who want a remaster of Dragon Age Origins when the aesthtics of DA2 was peak design to me (minus the repetitiveness that’s understandable with the time crunch)

It’s kind of hard make analysis with comic backstory seeing as how we don’t know what elements spiderverse will adapt/change for their conception of the character, but having read a couple issues so far only makes me more curious about what Miguel’s injection in the character intro is about.
I don’t think it’s Rapture or something designed to mitigate the effects of Rapture because of the spider dna visual and man. That would just be kicking the guy when he’s down. Not to mention he doesn’t show anything similar to battling it’s side effects.
Probably something to stabilise the genetic rewrite then???

Today I was reminded of the movie Baby's Day Out (AKA Home Alone but it's a baby), which I loved as a kid and haven't thought about in years.
And I had the thought, "if I watch this movie with the presupposition that this baby is a divine entity of chaos, will that make this movie more enjoyable to rewatch?
The answer to this question is obviously yes without even having to test it out, so I decided to make it a little more interesting and update my very scientific hypothesis:
If I watch this movie with the aforementioned assumption, then will that in fact make Baby's Day Out into the best version of The Omen??
I'm testing my hypothesis now. I don't think I've seen this movie in like 20 years. Man. It's hard being a scientist doing important science work sometimes.
