I realized I'm not really having fun here anymore, and I haven't been having fun here in a long time. It's ironic that this is supposed to be cringe central "get off my blog if you don't like it" town, but I feel like I've been trying to present myself as more intellectual and thoughtful than I actually am.
At the heart of it, I'm a digital artist who specializes in making pretty pictures and uses references from Pinterest, where I have curated OC aesthetic boards. I listen to top 40 pop. I'm not a fun little internet freak. Or even an interesting little internet freak.
Had a good run with this blog, but I think the BG3 hangover hit in ways I hadn't expected. It's like looking at this thing that used to make me happy and just feeling a void. Like every good memory has a bitterness now. Since "Sunflowerwizard" was meant to be a Baldur's Gate blog, I think that means I'm logging off and just leaving stuff up for posterity. Maybe this feeling will pass and I'll change my mind.
I might move back to my old blog, probably under a new name. If people find me, they find me I guess. I don't think I'm going to bother sharing the name here.

I liked fanart of Soren FireEmblem and because that's a very fictional character name Tumblr is recommending me posts about at least 4 distinct Sorens
#twilitalks#this is why we tag the character name plus the fandom i think#he's not even my favorite FE9/10 character too so-

Bread bread bread bread-
My little personal project from the last few weeks has been trying to make my own sourdough starter from scratch. I named it. Meet Senshi.
Day 1 vs today, Day 16! Fermented, bubbly, and ready to make bread!
#twilitalks#i feel like a wizard creating horrible little dough homunculi which are baked into delicious bread

content warning: residential schools //
as Orange Shirt Day / The National Day of Truth and Reconciliation nears [September 30] I want to give a bit of context to those internationally who might not know that this day is.
Orange Shirt Day was started by Phyllis Webstad and others in 2013. This is a day to reflect and promote reconciliation, as well as uplift and support the victims and communities impacted by the Canadian residential school system. This is also the origin of the Every Child Matters movement.
The National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, as it's known by the Canadian government, was only formed as an official national day in 2021 after 200 unmarked graves were discovered on the property of the former Kamloops indian residential school that same year. Currently there are estimated thousands of graves on residential school properties; many of which have not been properly addressed.
Kivalliq Hall was the last residential school in Canada and closed in 1997. This is not some far-off distant history thing, many people alive today were sent to residential schools as children.
If you want to give support, consider donating to the Indian Residential Schools Survivor Society, or Orange Shirt Day. The IRSSS does fantastic work, offering counselling and numerous support lines - including one for 24/7 crisis support. I'd also like to mention Reconciliation Canada, as they also do good work.
This is a small personal anecdote here, but I'd like to recommend checking out Indian Horse; a novel by the late Richard Wagamese that follows the life of a boy going through the residential school system. There is also a film adaptation by the same name. This book [and its film] offers valuable education on the dark history that is residential schools.
I'm always happy to have additional links and educational material added to my posts, so please do not hesitate to add onto this. thank you.

"terminally ill people should be allowed to choose to die if they feel it is the best decision for them" and "euthanasia can easily become eugenics" and "we should provide support for depressed and suicidal people" are statements that can come into conflict but should all be respected

Can't make this shit up but Israel really just detonated walkie talkies across Lebanon today killing 9 so far and injuring 300. This comes only a day after Israel had detonated pager devices simultaneously across multiple areas in Lebanon, injuring almost 3,000 and killing 8.
This is some cartoon villain shit and the only reason Israel was able to execute an almost replica of the same attack 24 hours prior is exactly because not a single international body had condemned Israel for its terrorist attack, let alone held it accountable.
In the same timeframe, Israel had also bombed countless areas in Gaza including a school filled with displaced Palestinians, killing 8 mostly women and children, while also committing two massacres against families, killing 20 and injuring over 50.
Israel is a terrorist state.

got into a catboy traffic jam this shit rules
My Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance playthrough might be healing my brain because the game's from 2005 and there's no ginormous loud fanbase to contend with
I either yap into the void or at a handful of chill people and I think I need that after BG3

this is a zero judgement zone. its a fuckin $60 game that requires nice gaming hardware and took me 165.5 hours to finish on my first run. its ridiculous to think that everyone in the fandom has played it, much less the whole way through. im not judging anyone, just data-hungry
#381 hours according to Steam been playing since November 2020 in Early Access etc etc#Act 3 fatigue is real. dig the environment but the story stuff just wasn't really exciting me anymore

me, circa 2014: It's so annoying to hear people yell "go play the old games now!" to fans who started with Fire Emblem Awakening. now, having played Path of Radiance and starting Radiant Dawn:
#twilitalks#Fire Emblem Path of Radiance#FE9#FE9/10#like 90% of what I liked about Awakening had its roots in those two games especially the beast units#but I will concede that being locked into permadeath DOES make some fights more tedious even if it forces you to be more thoughtful#as an aside I am tempted to brave the depths of AO3 to see if Jill/Lethe is a rarepair or not

#twilitalks#like i know FE as a whole has a big fanbase but I'm just interested in the Radiance series#moral of the story is that if a Big Loud Fandom has you down get really into shit from almost 20 years ago
