The way some of ya'll talk about the money that pro athletes make betrays a fundamental misunderstanding of how any of this works. Absolutely they're not living in poverty or paycheck to paycheck. But they are still people who exchange labour for capital, the vast majority of them are closer to being just like us than they are to being like the billionaires who pay them.

They spend their entire lives being very good at one thing at the sacrifice of education or a backup plan. They exchange their health and physical well-being for that paycheck. If their careers ended tomorrow, most of them would NOT "be fine". The ones on short term (comparatively to their peers) lower paying contracts do NOT have financial or job security.

This is a labour rights issue!! If you watch sports and are entertained by the labour these people provide it's actually insane to dismiss people who point out the relative lack of security that some of these people have! You're not being smart and you're not being progressive

I was midway thru answering one of the asks about if ray lives in apocalypse au and I was saying No and shit when we changed our minds and decided it’d be way funnier if he was the only normal pickup truck left alive (via comedy and pure luck) so all the racecars can fight over who gets to imprint on him and I think that’s beautiful

I’m really proud of the work that Little Bro does on his cars. It’s a good outlet for him. I’m not so stoked about his driving, that shit’s dangerous. I mean, I drive faster than I should sometimes, but he drives faster than he should at all times on city streets because racecar. I just hope I never “see him at work.” (see that a car registered to him has been horrifically wrecked, since PD puts the license and registration info of all cars involved in the same call notes we use)

Callums now on private (with his almost 100k followers) and JHR have some of their comments turned off but its ridiculous that any small mistake Callum makes that affects Canapino (even if Canapino is also to blame) results in death threats and insults is a fucking joke and they seriously need to get a grip. He's a human being, not a robot, sometimes he'll fuck up, sometimes it'll affect your guy, be mad all you want but dont lose your humanity and compassion over it please

insane that the narrative has always been that lando is SO young and SO promising and just waiting until his senior teammate(s) retire so he can inherit the #1 driver position and be rewarded for his loyalty with a car fast enough to win a championship! and then as soon as he finally gets that car a young promising rookie driver comes in and reminds everyone that the #1 driver position isn't something you inherit, it's something you take, and you don't earn it through loyalty, you earn it because you're the best and you're willing to fight for it regardless of your age or experience or who says you should step aside and wait your turn
