This would be around Act 6, but anyway...
Tumblr media
@tiny-chrys thank you so much for the ask! This is giving me more motivation to draw this love arrow(?) <3
Also, yes, ever since Jinx got Arcane talents, she received a physical boost, too. Zeri has the same physical boosts, btw; it's a detail I added for "humans with Arcane talents" in this AU.

The Sonic Experience Renaissance™ is hard to explain because it's stylized anthros made for kids with ADHD and Autism and no one understands how good it is. The experience is every game is a little disappointing and imo the characterization of western sonic is wild but the relationship between the developer and the fandom is "Wow you guys really feel a lot of things so we want you to be happy."
I have questionable feeling about the story scale back era even though that's when this all started but at some point in the late 2010s they leaned into all the quirks of the dark age fandom; The sonic mini series by Tyson Hesse (the fucking dude who turned have Knuckles fist nipples), then hired him again to animate an opening for Sonic Mania: the game made by the fans, they tried with making a game for the Sonic OC people (me), lucked out with a pretty funny tv series for their worst game, put Sonic in a Disney movie then made a bad design for his own movie which they had Tyson fix and then put the bad scrapped design in another Disney movie, put fandon memes into their games, continued to release animated trailers for their game releases that like, holy shit are their own enjoyable experiences rather than just a product, even have a sanrio esque side series on Tiktok where it's half just trending dances, released a game with a soundtrack tailored for every AMV maker in 2007's taste, host a concert that half just a straight up metal concert because of it (AND THE FUCKING LIGHT STICK DOESNT COST $50, $20 IS BARELY ABOVE THE COST OF A GENERIC ONE) and let their Twitter team write a free visual novel with the most accurate character rep in years.
Fandom can be a real make or break for a series and Sega's liberalness at letting the fans have fun not only makes the fandom fun but basically gives them free advertisement and a willing talent pool.
It's my very subjective opinion that despite having worse quality games, Sonic has become a happier fandom than Mario's. Both Sega and Nintendo have been making huge media leaps and I'm not ignoring that Nintendo released a $100 alarm lock and a whole theme park land with a museum theme park on the way but Sega made a more accessible franchise; the games are cheaper, they have a release on Apple arcade, they embraced the app market enough that their mobile games aren't dog shit (unoriginal/ports but I mean definitely better than Mario Run), they do smart collabs for the iPad generation (Cookie run, hololive, angry birds, sanrio, etc), again a whole free steam game that for real could have been a $15 game if they wanted to, they release their own vtuber content that fans love to make fan content for, release like actually quality online content not just the animated shorts and the sonic friends series but they make Tiktoks with the mascot suit and a whole hand puppet and even ones with a plush that reminds me of the ones people would make on YouTube, they are a part of free comic book day, and they have two whole fan run conventions. Like they keep you locked in and there's plenty of options how to express your love for Sonic (street fashion, kawaii, retro, hype beast) in ways I don't find Mario/Nintendo doing (also a lot to be said the way Splatoon probably has been outshining other series in terms of Nintendo series fandom).

In the matters of crossover...
Soul Society does not understand diplomacy. They are 'supreme', absolute, greedy control freaks, and 'holders of balance' or that crap. They lack rivals and others group to keep them in line.
Many group/organizations/goverments in other shows/animes/series/movies like the Wizard World (both other coutries and families), Vongola, Amestris or even Konoha and Asoiaf has 'other factions' that aren't enemies. They cannot simply do whatever thay please. Soul Society would never let another Spiritual Faction exist outside their control (even if are peaceful doing nothing bad), they would refuse to be 'allies', would demand the other faction to bow or betray them. If they ever 'ally' with an group of another anime/show, they would demand them to be subordinades to Seireitei, obey everything they say and be killed once their usefulness run out. Arrogant at the point of foolishness.
Many 'crossovers' would end up with Soul Society getting in so much trouble because they refuse to talk to solve problem and follow laws and respect the local rulers and leaders, wrongly believing they have authority and jurisdiction over everything and everyone.
The Moral Myopia also. No loyality, no trust, no partnership, nothing. No one would ever want to help them or ally with them, they would try to 'arrest/execute' someone they think is 'different', Ichigo should have noped out of here fast.
Fix-Its with most fandons has politics and talking involved, Bleach ones are about destroying Seireitei cuz Soul Society are a Butch of Motherfuckers.
See Game of Throne for exemple, you have to be careful with no only your enemies, but your allies and subordinades too. Two of Robb Stark's greatest fuck ups are Rickard Karstark (subordinade Lord) and Freys (allies), the Lannisters too (Selmy, the Faith and Tyrion), also which decisions you make and how they affect the other groups (Ned Stark's execution was a reckless foolish action and even Tywin knows it), its so fucking easy to switch sides, your enemies may be more sensible and willing to listen to ours wishes, don't you think so?
This whole 'we have an common enemy' and 'you will help us or else' would never work on many characters like it did on Ichigo and his friends.
No one is going to obey/ally with you if they get nothing in turn/are treated badly/you attempt to make them subordinades instead of allies or something similar. Their attitude towards the Vizards, Bounts, Humans in general or anyone powerful and outside their control tell us an lot. In an crossover, they would attempt to kidnap, interrogate, steal, experiment and murder innocent people with no reason whatsover or commit fucking genocide against societies they consider threats. They did nothing to deserve loyality, refusing to help those who sacrificed so much for them, declaring they own people traitors out of blue (Rukia, Hitsugaya in Diamond Rebellion, fucking Orihime when she got kidnapped) and threatening Ichigo and his friends's often. (Poor Uryu)
I also kinda love the idea where the Hero (an minor, a fucking kid) that has his whole life planned for him to involve himself in an secret world and fight wars that are not his, to put his friend and family in danger for an butch of ungratefull assholes and there is an crossover where said Hero meets people from another Fandom and when the plot starts, he looks the group that wants him to fight for them (and he knows them for like...an hour) dead in the eyes and is like 'lol, nope fuckers, #notmywar, I have better shit to do'.
Its also easier to deal with them. A centralized power that have charisma of lettuce juice (Rukongai would turn against them if given chance), the 'smallfolk' of Soul Society hate then and the Shinigami didn't even try to make some propaganda (like nobles in medieval era giving the rest of the food from feasts so when a rebellion hist, the people would be more willing to hid/help them). Horizontal leadership is more difficult to deal with, independant factions even more.
So yeah, villains like Konoha or Amestris would be far more diffucult to deal with

Positive hetalia POV: the fandom has taken up discourse topics about racism that I haven’t seen anywhere else like the antisemitism in anti-Spanish propaganda among other things. I feel like we are able to open up heavy conversations and learn more about history because we’re confronted with situations where we actively have to put thought into what we write, draw and engage with.
Absolutely agree. I can't say I have much time of experience with the fandom, but after +/-3 years of "survival" here, I can say that changes have been happening since then... At least, from my point of view, we have changed.
We have changed, but I still see space to make a lot of improvements 😁 and I won't go easy on easy on anyone 😉 that's how I show love 😋
Even when we were a less active fandom, we talked about serious topics... But more on a Drama topic, like a TV show drama.
Nowadays, the most recent thing that happen was the "Block list" and I'm Hell proud that the fandom gave almost 0 sh*ts to that. Some may say that the Block List owner was harassed/bullied after because we were mocking the person. Then I will say that "mocking" as taking the Block List as a joke, isn't something to be concerned about... Because it was a (bad) joke. It wasn't harrament/bullying, look at the "definition" if you have doubts.
"Many approached the Block List Owner and he/she is a minor"... Well, how to say this without sounding heartless? "you sow what you reap"? Being a minor won't change anything and isn't a "excuse" for what happened... Because saying that, on the same logic... "if it was" an adult, there was no problem being harrassed/bullied.
The person tagged multiple fandons, multiple persons, and looked like a j*rk... Aren't that the ingredients for disaster? If a "minor" (a person) doesn't know how to behave on a online platform, then that person shouldn't even be on an online platform. (of course, I'm saying this without excusing harassment/bullying... It was just not the case as some claimed it was)
UPS! Sorry, I ended up changing topics Anon 😅 but it's just like you said, and I hope that we get to improve even more "despite" the fear on the Anime/Manga' return.
