Following on from previous Leon Eras, how do you think all the different Leon Eras would react to a best friend or S/O that's been there when he's seen Ada and knows how he feels about her, so they're always feeling a little bit inadequate? Like there's always that little voice in the back of their mind telling them that they're not good enough for Leon and that they'll never be as good as her? Especially for the best friend who's secretly in love with him, they probably never said anything earlier because of their insecurities, I imagine that RE4R Leon would almost pretend not to see it because he's torn between how he feels but DI Leon would be the kind to keep you locked in a cuddle until you feel a little bit better about yourself

We don't actually see Leon and Ada interact in this Era of him

So if there is any discourse about it, I would say it's because he keeps mentioning her

Maybe he doesn't mean to or he doesn't understand what he is doing but he's constantly talking to you about her

I doubt it's all praise, nor would it be about her looks but the constant mention of her name would eventually get to you

If you mention it he would probably be upset because she is a large part of her life but he would get over it I'm sure

Okay this is where things begin to complicate with their relationship and you

There is that one line in the film where it suggests that they did have a night together

I don't think he would hold that over your head in anyway. He's not comparing you to her at all

Let's say you are his partner and joined him on this mission, you are a witness to the banter and cant help but feel a bit jealous

Like she's everything you aren't in your own eyes

I think he would get a bit frustrated with how you are taking it and the fact you never seem to understand that he only cares about you

You can't blame him, it's silly to be jealous he wouldn't be with you if he wants her

But seeing how he reacts to her and their history does make you sad

This is the main game we see their relationship almost end but also left open

So we will replace you with Helena because it's more interesting.

It turns the situations into he prioritized her safety over yours even though he is in a relationship with you.

He doesn't actually realize what he's done until after the events of the game and he has a lot to make up for

I think it would take him a while to realize as well like he's not going to understand why you are upset straight away

Not because he's dumb but because in his head she needed more help

He would get frustrated with your reaction and not really understand where you are coming from because nothing happened. There was no kiss or anything

It ended with a goodbye and a promise to maybe see each other again soon.

And that's what angers you, until he figures that out it would be rocky whenever she gets mentioned

Again we don't see Ada interact with Leon in this so if there is an issue it's because he's bringing her up

And of course he will...he's drunk and hates the world

So I don't think he would bring her up in a negative way so when you do get touchy about her- he's confused

I think he would dismiss your concerns because he's literally not said a good thing

It's not until you explain it to him that he understands it sounds like he's still hung up on her

So he would make an effort to show you that's not the case, whenever that's literally saying it during sex

I'm talking like major praise towards you..he would never say her name during that time but imply that you are better

It does work sort of because he is worshipping you but is also doing it on the base of hating her

Eventually he would get distracted by something else to hate on and it wouldn't be a problem

Death Island:

He's not bringing her up as she's part of his past at all

But let's say you are both out n about and he catches the eye of someone that looks similar to her

He then has to explain it to you because he freezes and double takes

The explanation of the complicated history would make it difficult for you because what do you mean this woman has been through almost every important event of his life

Very quick to reassure you he's not seen her in years nor does he want to

He's very content with how his life has turned out and doesn't want you to think otherwise

He would understand if you need constant reassurance over the topic he's more mature so he understands how the situation can be seen

AUTISM KATE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Okay, I'm calm and collected.

Like it is for a lot of women, Kate's autism goes unnoticed by anyone who doesn't know her closely. She prefers it that way. hell, Shepherd doesn't know and she works far too closely with him.

But some of the others know.

John had never really considered it until the porridge incident years back, Kate had stayed at his and he made them both porridge for breakfast [at 11am, they'd been drinking the night before]. Kate had taken one spoonful of it and looked positively revolted but she'd swallowed it down without complaint. John asked her at the time what the issue was and if she preferred it sweeter or had a specific taste. She had insisted it was fine. He'd watched her force down two more spoonfuls before thieving it back from her until she fessed up that it was a texture issue.

John stared at her blankly for a solid forty seconds and she mentally prepared for some lecture about how she was too old to be complaining about things like that. The Englishman simply responded with "Toast?"

He didn't care, he was more offended that she didn't feel like she could tell him. He'll never judge and he has thrown a punch at a man once while drunk in a pub because the guy had been casually throwing around an ableist slur while talking about autism and other things.

Will get her started talking about birds when they're drunk and will leave remembering none of it, they have the same conversation every time and it's great fun for both of them.

When Simon learns she's autistic he says nothing, and then when John lets it slip that Kate's birthday is coming up he perks up but says nothing. That year she gets a weighted blanket in a nice blue with no note. Eventually, Simon lets it slip to John that it was him. Joseph had been autistic and he's always liked the soft texture with the weight to keep him calm and comfortable. He thought Kate might like the same but he wasn't sure if they were close enough to give it to her so he sent it anonymously.

John tells Kate and a while later Simon receives a thank-you note with no name and a picture of several cats lying on top of a blue weighted blanket. He keeps them both.

Soap learns Kate has autism and it's a very short interaction.

"Is this why you know so much about The Muppets?"

"Maybe."

"Who was the first every guest st-"

"Juliet Prowse."

"Cool."

Gaz doesn't care, working with an autistic lesbian is just casual to him given that he works with a man in a skull mask, a man with the gayest haircut of all time and a man with the gayest facial hair of all time. Kate is the most competent of all of them, nothing changes that.

Motorbike Rudy, I'm so glad you asked.

He buys an old one second-hand from someone he knew growing up, the man is getting older and can't go out on his bike anymore. He tries to give it to Rudy for free, but Rudy pays him the asking price only doubled. He replaces a few parts just because they're older and he can, he likes the work. It gives him something to do when he isn't working and he likes manual labour. If he sits around aimlessly for too long it makes his skin crawl.

When he finishes fixing the bike, he decides he'll take her for a spin. He'll only be gone for maybe twenty minutes and it's just to get used to her so he doesn't need to tell anyone he's leaving.

Five hours later when he comes home, Alejandro smacks him over the back of the head.

He loves going out in the morning when the sun has just risen and the sky is a picture of oranges and yellows. It's his favourite thing to do outside of the job.

Whenever he gets on the bike [Salma, her name is Salma] Alejandro glares at him until he puts on his helmet. he'd never ride without it, he likes his skull intact, thank you very much. But until the helmet is actually on his head, Alejandro is standing with his arms crossed, glowering at him.

At one point the 141 are back in Las Almas, for casual reasons this time and they see him on the bike. John asks him about the make and model, any work he's done to it and how he takes care of it. Gaz asks him if two people can ride or only one, he isn't jumping for the chance to but he's curious. Soap checks out the bike but he's more curious about Rudy's opinion of it, how he got into bikes as a whole and how he learned to ride.

Ghost turns towards Alejandro but his eyes are glued to Rudy as he stands next to the motorbike.

"Your man looks good on the bike."

"Watch your tongue, hermano."

"Wouldn't dream of it."

Ghost likes men on bikes, sue him. It helps that it's Rudy and there's no denying that Rudy is hot.

okay sorry i took so long i decided to shower after you sent me this because i knew that if i started then i would never end up showering today. and then it was an unfinished routine so i had to lotion and brush my teeth and floss and do hair stuff too.

so, obviously, it's lancelot du lac and gawaine of orkney. both knights of the round table, etc etc. you know who they are. i hope. they're not exactly similar to their bbc merlin counterparts---lancelot is of noble birth in classic arthuriana, gawaine is arthur's nephew (though bbc merlin doesn't exactly...keep the familial relations that canon does), things like that---but i'd honestly say that their character personalities are similar enough that it's verging on acceptable! just as a reference point for you, i suppose.

gawaine has lost a fair fight only to six knights in his time, launcelot being one of them (Le Morte d'Arthur, Sir Thomas Mallory. book IV, chapter XVIII) (the other five being sir tristram, sir bors, sir percevel, sir pelleas, and sir marhaus). he is mentioned to throw fights against lancelot because he loves losing to him (cannot remember the source for the life of me) and, of course, lancelot always notices when he does.

then there's this famous quote:

(vulgate II, p140) where launcelot tells galehaut (another man that he arguably has...something...going on with) that he would share with gawaine everything he loves, save guinevere, in order to have gawaine forever. gawaine then goes on to say that, essentially, he would wish to be the most beautiful woman so that lancelot would love him as a wife.

also, in Morte, which i don't have photos of because my copy is a physical book rather than a pdf like how i'm reading vulgate and i don't want to take photos with my laptop camera. there is this quote "and Launcelot with this sword shall slay the man that in the world he loves best, that shall be Sir Gawaine." which is engraved in the hilt of the red hilted sword, balin's sword that merlin encases in stone and which galahad, lancelot's son, eventually wields.

^this, also. from vulgate IV, p140. after launcelot accidentally kills gawaine's brother gareth (named here as gaheriet; all the orkneys have...many ways of spelling their names. look up a list of all of gawaine's names over history, i dare you) who was guarding guinevere's cell...he begs gawaine to forgive him and even promises to swear himself and all his men into subservience to gawaine if gawaine would only forgive him. "I want to be your companion just as I used to be." mhm...

and "I'll swear to you on 'relics that I didn't kill your brother Gaheriet intentionally" is a huge promise. swearing on a holy relic in such a deeply, fundamentally christian society was the vow that you could make. the reason why honour was so important in that time was because the grand majority of people were illiterate, so one's word was the most one could give, in the majority of situations! and here is lancelot, saying that he'll swear on a holy relic that he did not mean to kill gareth if it means gawaine will forgive him and love him again.

there is also, right before gawaine eventually dies (from a sword wound to the head from lancelot) he writes a letter to launcelot begging forgiveness for having been so horrible to lancelot before his death, and wishing he could see him before he dies, for he knows he won't live long.

And then when paper and ink was brought, then Gawaine was set up weakly by King Arthur, for he was shriven a little to-fore; and then he wrote thus, as the French book maketh mention: Unto Sir Launcelot, flower of all noble knights that ever I heard of or saw by my days, I, Sir Gawaine, King Lot's son of Orkney, sister's son unto the noble King Arthur, send thee greeting, and let thee have knowledge that the tenth day of May I was smitten upon the old wound that thou gavest me afore the city of Benwick, and through the same wound that thou gavest me I am come to my death-day. So firstly I think Aemond would absolutely love to have something that felt like ownership? He wants to be yours, and he wants a physical reminder of it.

I think maybe you first saw a glimpse of this desire the morning after your first rougher night with him? He got up before you and you awoke to the site of him standing before a mirror and tracing the outline of the scratches on his hips and the bruises on his collar bones. At first you think he doesn't like it and offer to call the maesters to see what will heal it quicker, but he shuts that down immediately.

He gets all squirmy and blushy, not quite being willing to meet your eyes and eventually you manage to get out of him that he really likes the marks. For a few weeks it goes on like that, with you ensuring to leave marks on him because he seems to love it.

Eventually you start to realise he loves the physical reminder, not only of what happened when he got those marks but also as a reminder that you love him, that he's yours. You really only put that together when you realise how protective he seems of any evidence of you? He tells off the servants who move your brush back to your private quarters, he keeps your favourite book on his nightstand even though he never reads it.

The first thing you offer him to try and meet this need is maybe just a piece of a clothing item? It happens while the two of you are walking together, far away from Kings Landing. Aemond often asks you to come out on Vhagar with him, simply to fly somewhere quiet where no one can hear you.

You're walking along a rocky terrain and you put your foot wrong and nearly fall. You catch yourself, but your shirt or dress gets caught on the branch of a small bush. You don't mind the tear of course, it's of no real consequence, you have plenty of other clothes back at the red keep anyway. But Aemond seems distraught about this? He asked you to come with him and now you're ruined your clothes because of him.

You end up taking your knife/dagger and cutting the torn piece of fabric off so it's not just hanging. That action seems to upset Aemond even more, since now the tear can't ever be sown back together. That is, until you take his hand and tie the fabric around his wrist, telling him that there, now the fabric isn't going to waste.

You do it mostly as a silly thing, not something you expected him to seriously cherish. But the following day he still hasn't taken it off, and he doesn't take it off the next day nor the day after that.

When you ask him about it, he actually panics a little, mumbling about how you gave it to him and please don't take it back. Repeating that you said it was his, he wants to keep it.

Which... sometimes Aemond truly is one of the most sensitive, sweet souls in all of the seven kingdoms. You promise him you will never take it from him, and tell him you're glad he likes it.

A few weeks later you present him with a bracelet inspired by the piece of fabric. Except the bracelet is made of dyed leather, iron and jewels, not fabric. It's in the same colours as the fabric, but this is made to last must longer. Aemond cries for a solid twenty minutes when you give it to him. It takes him nearly a week to stop tearing up every time he looks at his wrist. And yes he knows you're already married and you already wear rings and whatnot, but that was an arranged marriage. He didnt love you back then, he didnt want to be yours back then. To him the wedding rings show the world he is married, but the bracelet is just for him, just to show him that he belongs to you.

Needless to say, he'd be absolutely distraught if he lost it.

It would definitely have to be lost in battle, because that's the only time he wouldn't automatically notice if the bracelet isn't around his wrist. When he does notice, his stomach drops. He feels so... exposed? He gets back to kings landing as quickly as possible. When he walks to your chambers he has his other hand around his wrist, like he's trying to hide not having the bracelet on.

Of course you're not at all upset with him. He returned from battle unharmed, that is all you care about. But despite that, he can't settle without it and you can't let him go back to flying the largest dragon in the world when he can't even think straight. You end up cutting another piece of fabric out of one of your clothes for him, this time cutting it long enough that you can wrap it around his wrist three times before tying the ends together.

You can see the way he relaxes once it's done. He leans against you, mumbling his thanks against your neck.

When he leaves again, you arrange for a new bracelet to be made, but this time you decide to get more than just that. You also get two necklaces, one short and one long and then another bracelet made as well.

You present the replacement bracket together with the longer necklace to Aemond when he returns. He had been hoping and praying you'd give him another bracelet (part of him feared you'd be so disappointed that he lost the first one that you wouldnt get him another and that would just break him).

He's entirely shocked when you give him the necklace, and even more shocked when you show him that you had another one made for yourself. When he looks closer at the necklace then he gets confused at first, because it doesn't match the bracelet and necklace you got him? It's made of the same metal, but yours have sapphires.

When he asks about, you simply run cup his face, stroking his cheek under his eyepatch. You watch as his other eye tears up at the realisation of why you chose what you did. He adores it, and he's so so gentle when he puts the necklace and bracelet on you, his hands shaking so much that he has to stop and try again.

You always wear the necklace, and Aemond adores seeing it on you, especially in public? In private he'll often run his fingers over the sapphire, even lean down and kiss it. But in public, just glancing at you and seeing it is more than enough to make him smile.

We have seen how nonchalant everyone in the firefam was about the break up, no? Like it's something that always happens (which, to be fair, buck always breaks up with his partners after a period that goes to 6-10 months). I'm not even thinking it's the wrong attitude. I mean, for them, they must think "we are gonna treat this break up just like his other ones, just cause Tommy is a dude there should be no difference".

(this without counting on the fact that Tommy was friends with everyone. But apparently the writers didn't so. I'm not gonna talk about that stupidity here rn)

Only. They don't get that it is different this time. And Buck, bless him, won't realize until someone spells it out to him without knowing.

What I'm thinking over is the whole Josh speech. Taking aside the glee of it all, when Josh asks Buck if he thinks he loves Tommy, Buck's reply is immediately like "whoa let's not go that far" but with every question Josh asks he's like "well...". Problem is, I don't think Buck realised he loves Tommy. What he takes from the convo is what goes down in his terrible speech to Tommy in the break up scene, and the way he was wording things is probably one of the reasons why Tommy felt the need to bolt like he did.

So Buck did know he wanted more from Tommy, but he's still nebulous on the why. He says he's comfortable with him, that he wants him to move in together, mentions marriage yes, but he still doesn't tell Tommy he loves him. If he knew he loved him, wouldn't it be logical for him to precede the speech with that? But he doesn't. So we must take from that is Buck hasn't realised the depth of his feelings for Tommy.

And this brings me to another point I want to make. Maddie is present for the entirety of Buck's conversation with Josh. So she knows how Buck dodged the "you love him" question and she knows he needed to be coached into seeing the situation from Tommy's perspective. And what does she take from it, after the break up? Buck probably wasn't in love with Tommy, so he's going to bounce back easily. And she probably shared this with Chim, who probably also told the 118 fam cause... He's Chim come on lmao

So we are at the situation where everyone thinks Buck isn't actually in love with Tommy so this is just temporary! Except Buck goes crazy into baking. Still tho everyone this is just one of Buck's quirks that will eventually die out.

Buck is also not clear on his feelings for Tommy! Because baking takes the need to call Tommy off his mind, which probably also means he's not doing any type of meaningful introspection about why this break up is leaving him so off.

This could be all a beautiful set up for Buck to actually realise he's in love already and needs to fight for the relationship, but at this point I'm not exactly confident the writers will handle this well so...

What I would love so much is someone, maybe Maddie since she's the one who was present at the Josh scene, to question Buck on why he's still hung up on Tommy months after the break up saying something on the lines of "you didn't even love him, I don't understand why you are still so hung up on him!" And Buck snapping right at that moment, fed up with all the meddling of his family about not contacting Tommy, without even thinking twice says "But I do love him, Maddie! I fucking love him and you all told me for months to let it go!"

And that's how Buck realises he's in love with Tommy and he goes to fight to get his man back 😌 in a perfect world we'd get this on our screen am I right

Can't re-watch without overthinking, there are parallels with Xu Shanshan 's story?

this is ep 8, season 1 where Xu Shanshan comes as a customer in the time photo studio. Lu Guang asks her why didn't she ask Dong Yi herself afterwards if she cared so much?

Xu Shanshan answers : It's because I care so much, that's why I couldn't bring myself to ask. I'm so afraid that the answer is not going to be what I think it is.

Lu Guang stares for a while, our gaze is focused on Lu Guang and then he declares that they are gonna 'help'. Xu Shanshan came as a customer, Lu Guang after some consideration decided to 'help' without taking any money for exchange. After re-thinking a lot of other parallel stories, I can say this is one of those moments where Lu Guang feels the personal tug to help. It resonates with him.

Later Cheng Xiaoshi while diving in Xu Shanshan 's body converses with Dong Yi and when Dong Yi says

Dong Yi : I still have to choose to leave eventually.

Now we hear Cheng Xiaoshi saying, 'Leave?'

While watching this section, I could feel one thing, the original emotion may belong to Xu Shanshan but Cheng Xiaoshi really mixes it with his own subjectivity, it's not really Dong Yi directed anymore (actually it was never Dong Yi directed anyway, Cheng Xiaoshi was reluctant to dive because they were not getting paid for this). I don't think either Xu Shanshan or Dong Yi have anything to do with that scene. It's Cheng Xiaoshi's memories getting triggered by the word 'leave' and it also echoes the themes of the song 'Mao Buyi'. Now, after watching Yingdu episode 1, we know what basketball symbolism is in the context of Shiguang.

Lu Guang is really really moved. Look at his face, his expression screams that he very much understands that melancholy. And it is Cheng Xiaoshi singing so...I can't fathom (😭) what Lu Guang might be feeling at this moment.

I think an animatic of the start of the song would be very logical plot wise, but in order to do the entire song you'd probably have to auificate it a bit, so i may have roughly outlined something that's not an odyssey au (i have not read it in years it would not be accurate even if that was my goal) but not not an odyssey au:

Tango, a well renowned engineer and architect is hired by king Ren to design and build a dungeon. Construction is going great when Tango feels a tugging in his mind, a soulbond (i have not decided if this is a normal thing or some sort of curse, but that doesn't matter because a WYFILWMA animatic would not include it). The pull continues to strengthen until it's all Tango can think of. He begs Ren to let him find his soulmate, construction can continue for a while without his oversight.

Following the tugging on his heart leads Tango to a small ranch and the prettiest man he's ever seen, Jimmy.

Jimmy welcomes him graciously. He doesn't have much but he can cook a fine meal and even for Tango to sleep in his bed (Tango infatuation status: doubled) (yes there was only one bed. i have zero regrets). Tango learns how to help Jimmy with the animals, and he already has the skills to help with repairs. When bandits come and steal their livestock and burn down their ranch, Tango does most of the rebuilding (I'm not sure how to do something different but as impactful as carving a bed out of a living olive tree so this is the stand in for now) (unsure if there is Tango rage moment or not).

Tango falls in love with the ranch just as much as he falls in love with Jimmy. He was known for falling asleep watching the ravagers at the dungeon and that softness has not left him, but their time is limited. Eventually a message from the king demands Tango's return. He slips Jimmy a ring as he kisses him goodbye. The dungeon should be finished in at most a few years. Tango will be back.

The construction goes remarkably smoothly. Tango's delighted to find they're ahead of schedule and sends Jimmy a letter telling him he'll be coming home soon. Tango will wear the clothes king Ren requested he wear for the unveiling ceremony (why does a Dungeon have a dramatic unveiling ceremony? unclear) and then he'll be free to return to his lover. Maybe he'll be called back occasionally to help with maintenance, but Tango's excited to live out a quiet domestic life with his rancher.

As it turns out, the magic used in the creation of the Dungeon granted it sentience. The ceremony finishes; Ren hands Tango his final payment, but the Dungeon refuses to let its creator go so easily. The floor opens up beneath Tango, sending him to the deepest level.

Suddenly the Dungeon Tango created is against him. It's not trying to kill him, but it's not going to let him go easily. The wardens and ravagers he raised and loved now block Tango's exit

The intense magic present in the Dungeon changes Tango. His hair and eyes turned a vibrant blue. The skulk grows on his clothes and covers the cape Ren gifted him. Finding the way out is not easy. Tango should know the labyrinthine construction like the back of his hand, but in the dark it seems to twist and turn on him, leaving him lost in his own creation. He's forced to kill many of his wardens and ravagers when they refuse to let him through, but eventually, Tango makes it out alive.

He is noticeably thinner under his robes, sustained only by the rare berry bushes and (Tango is horrified to admit) ravager meat. His body is covered in scars. Tango doesn't know how Ren reacted to his disappearance and he doesn't particularly care. He needs to go home.

Tango was not the only person who changed during their separation. When the town near their ranch needed a sheriff, Jimmy stepped up to the task. It was not easy maintaining the ranch and protecting the town, but the townspeople helped out where they could, and Tango would be coming home soon! The work would be manageable once he had his rancher back.

Months wore on without any further sign of Tango, but Jimmy refused to give up hope. The letter from the king was difficult to read, but they hadn't found a body. Tango is strong, it is his dungeon. If anyone could make it out it would be him.

The comments from his friends did not help Jimmy's confidence, but he wouldn't remove the ring around his finger. Not yet.

Jimmy stares into his soup, spoon still and eyes drifting shut after a long day of ranching and sheriffing, when he is startled into wakefulness by a knock on the door of the ranch.

He jumps up and opens the door to a familiar man with vibrant blue eyes.

"Jimmy."

"Is it you? Is it really you standing there?"

I already kind-of have an idea of how I want Dooku's "redemption" to go---and, when I say "redemption" I'm using it in a very loose term, he essentially turns on Palpatine at the end of TCW for selfish reasons and then it's very heavily implied at the end that in the future Dooku chooses to be a better person and try to be a Jedi again- (or as close as he can get) -because he's beginning to realize that maybe he was wrong. There's no actual redemption, it's more like the beginnings of what could eventually be one---but by the end of TCW Dooku isn't quite there yet, so the actual redemption part might be either written in another fic down the line or left ambiguous and to the audience's imagination.

I guess it'd theoretically be more of a "realization arc" than a redemption one.

It's a very long one, since I plan on writing over the entirety of TCW, and it mainly focuses on him doubting Palpatine and his plans- (even if he still helps further them), having fleeting moments of doubting himself when it comes to certain decisions- (especially when they involve someone he is/was close to) -before doubling down, and eventually Obi-Wan leveraging the fondness he knows Dooku feels for him and his connection to Qui-Gon to get through to him.

Dooku, in canon, is shown to feel some kind of fondness for people like Obi-Wan, Yoda, Ventress, etc. even when he's actively making the decisions to hurt/kill them, so I'm mostly just taking that a bit further to push more doubt and therefore make it more believable that Dooku starts questioning things in the end. Obi-Wan essentially uses this fondness and his connection to Qui-Gon to convince Dooku to help the Order take out "Darth Sideous," and since Dooku was already planning on betraying Palpatine- (having realized that he was going to replace him with Anakin, which means...yknow, death) -it's an easy choice that he justifies to himself as "self-preservation" even though the decision is also partially made because he still cares about his family.

From there there's a shit ton of political jargon that gets everything settled with the war, I won't bother you with that, but in the end Mace basically tells Dooku- "it's never too late to change, to make better decisions and be a better person" -and then leaves it up to him on what he decides to do in the future which, as I said, is heavily implied to be the right thing.

What I'm struggling with right now is basically just his mentality in that limbo area wayyyyy before TCW between the time when he's already left the Order but before he's fully radicalized and goes full Sith lord---when Palpatine is influencing him and grooming him as his apprentice, but he's not quite there yet.

I'm trying to balance his values before they're corrupted, his disillusionment, and the more "Sith" ideas and Palpatine's corruption of him all together. A lot of it comes across as hypocritical, which I'm going for, but that has the downside of me basically having to figure out how far gone Dooku theoretically is by this point since there's a very thin line between believable hypocrisy and unbelievable cognitive dissonance.

That's more of the part I'm struggling with, since I don't really have any clear reference for what he's like during this period of his life. The best I have is TotJ, but I don't really trust Felony's depiction of Dooku in that since it's clear that he's deep in the anti-Jedi kool-aid and trying to make Dooku's actions seem justified---whereas I'm trying to make the point of "yeah, some of his grievances are understandable, but the point of the story is he's WRONG," which goes against that.

Writing Dooku pre-Sith Lord but after he already left the Order is so hard because like...he's got the right idea on some things but he's also very juvenile in how he wants to fix them, he still thinks of the Jedi as his family but he also thinks they're doing things wrong and that he "knows better" than them, he's fond of his master but he also kinda hates him because he views him as representative of "everything wrong with the Order" like...

I love his character and I want to try and give him a "good" ending- (one where his plans all fail, he faces consequences, and then Mace drop kicks him into being a better person) -but HOLY SHIT IS IT HARD SETTING THIS ALL UP

Writing for him is like constantly being like- "...okay, so I know he's a hypocrite, but is this so hypocritical that he'd probably notice he's being a hypocrite??? and see that he's in the wrong???" -while also knowing that hypocrites usually just ignore the obvious signs of their hypocrisy, but also IS HE AT THAT POINT YET??? IDK??? I DONT HAVE A LOT OF MATERIAL TO WORK WITH FOR MY BASE, I DONT READ THE SW BOOKS AND I MOSTLY IGNORE LEGENDS OR CONSUME IT THROUGH FANDOM OSMOSIS

Mm.... I'm used to having dreams where I'm the audience and sometimes stuff will talk directly to me, I'm used to having dreams where people walk into my room and then it feels like they're still there when i wake up, I'm used to telling myself something is a dream and i have to just redo the bad thing that happened until it's not bad anymore. Tonight, though, i think it was the first time I realized it was a dream, told myself it was a dream, actively tried to fix it in the dream the way I always have and thought I was doing it, only to realize that I hadn't and I was trapped there.

It was short, and I was just having trouble breathing through my blanket because it fell on my face but... At first I imagined someone snuck into our room, then a hand clamped over my mouth and started pushing my head into the bed until I pulled it off, and then I started taking off a mask that I was mysteriously wearing over and over again because it kept on phasing back onto my face. I knew I was dreaming then, but instead of making myself wake up from the nightmare like I always have, I just sat up in my bed in the dream knowing that something was making it hard for me to breathe in the real world, but I was stuck there for and couldn't see what it was to get rid of it. It was only a few moments, but there was a DEFINITE spike of panic when the full realization of what was going on set in.

Not great. Not ideal >< It was super mundane--my nose got really stuffy out of nowhere and my mouth was totally covered by my blankets, so I WAS having trouble breathing--but I don't remember the last time I was fully conscious in my dreams as myself, IN myself, and incapable of waking up the exact second I wanted to. I've had nightmares and anxiety dreams as far back as I can remember, and it's a skill I taught myself when I was really little..... I don't know why I got stuck this time •____•
