I've found that incorporating Mando culture into the clones' culture just ends up with the clones being impressively boring as a result. Like somehow every single clone always loves spicy food because apparently that's a genetic thing, despite the fact that the clones were presumably always given really bland things to eat on Kamino and would have next to no context for "spicy" foods before they leave and likely very little to no tolerance for it if they ever get a chance to try it.
As for the jaig eyes, I am basically splitting hairs here in order to make them NOT Mandalorian (somewhat out of spite, I'll admit). The symbol apparently was first given a specific meaning in a couple of articles written in 2005 and 2006 (although the symbol itself had been around since the 1980s but without any real meaning attached to it), so it stands to reason that it was put on Rex's helmet in the 2008 film with that meaning in mind. It is INTENDED to be an Easter egg for fans who are deeper into the lore and there's nothing that ever contradicts it in canon. However, there's nothing that actually CONFIRMS it as a Mandalorian symbol in higher canon, either. At no point does anyone point at the symbol on Rex's helmet and say "hey look, Mandalorian jaig eyes!" No one ever asks Rex what it means so that he can explain that it's a Mandalorian symbol for bravery or whatever. It's JUST a random symbol that happens to be on Rex's helmet, unless you happen to be one of those fans that's deeper into the lore. So since it's never explicitly stated to be a Mandalorian symbol in high canon, it is in fact just as canon to say it ISN'T a Mandalorian symbol as it is to say that it IS a Mandalorian symbol.
For me, the relationship that is most meaningful to the clones is the one they have with the JEDI. And yet that relationship often gets sidelined in favor of associating the clones most with Mandalorians. If there IS a relationship emphasized between the Jedi and the clones, it's either supremely negative (like the idea that the Jedi are basically just slave owners or the idea that the clones have to somehow save the Jedi from their own repressive culture) or it's explicitly romantic (and likely sexual). But the Jedi are the ones who canonically help the CLONES discover who they are, who encouraged the clones to embrace their individuality, this is both shown to us and said out loud by other characters. So the clones SHOULD be getting more cultural associations with the Jedi, theoretically, because there's precious few other people they could emulate or learn from, but it's so difficult to find anyone that really wants to explore that complex dynamic when instead they could just make the clones into Mandos 2.0.
And that's why my focus on Rex gifting the symbol to Kanan when he's feeling low and doesn't really know who he is or who he CAN be after he loses his sight is more about the relationship between clone and Jedi than Mando and Jedi. If it WERE explicitly a Mando symbol being treated as a Mando symbol, it feels like it would be more significant to have Rex sharing it with SABINE, the canon Mandalorian, who also hits a low point in season 3 and has to face her fears in order to reconnect to her family and her home.
The reason Rex sharing his symbol with Kanan hits for me isn't because it's a Mando symbol, but because it's REX'S symbol, the thing that made him unique as a clone among millions, that he is sharing with the Jedi he CHOSE (because as much as he cared about Anakin and Ahsoka, he was ASSIGNED to them as far as we know and he didn't CHOOSE them). This is the man he chose to follow, and by sharing that symbol, he's telling Kanan that his lack of sight doesn't change anything for him. Kanan's still his Jedi, no matter what, because it wasn't his eyes or his fighting skills that mattered to Rex, it was Kanan's HEART. And given Kanan and Rex's rocky relationship up until that point, it's a signal of Kanan's acceptance of that dynamic between them, as Jedi and clone. Rex chose Kanan, and now Kanan is finally choosing Rex back.
Now, all of the sudden, you can take this gesture from just being "oh Rex shared a piece of Mando culture with Kanan to say that he's brave, how sweet" to something infinitely more nuanced that digs deep into who Rex is as a person, Rex's relationship to the Jedi in general, and Rex's relationship to Kanan specifically. You said you prefer to look at the clones' culture from the perspective of what it's like to BE A CLONE and that it's more interesting that way. You can do that here, too! Even if something is TECHNICALLY Mandalorian (ish) in canon, you can literally just pretend it's not to make it more interesting.
I'd love to hear some of your headcanons about clone culture that's separate from the usual Mando stuff! More people should have non-Mandoclone headcanons!
I've decided that Rex is the one who paints Kanan's eye mask with his bird of prey design.
Kanan's feeling pretty low still just after Malachor, he's still distancing himself from everybody, and Rex decides to go try to talk to him at one point and the first thing he comes up with to say is to point out that his new mask is pretty plain. It's awkward, he regrets it immediately, but then Kanan says that it gets the job done and Rex is abruptly reminded of himself so so long ago back at the beginning of the war.
He sits Kanan down and tells him a story about how, at the beginning of the war, only a few of the clones had paint on their armor, to designate things like rank and battalion in order to make it easier for officers to find them in the middle of a busy battlefield. The paint was practical and it was limited to a very select few. But the Jedi almost immediately started trying to encourage the clones to utilize the paint less sparingly, suggesting that maybe everybody could wear at least a LITTLE paint and use more individualized designs so that it was still easy to tell the commanders and captains apart from the others when needed.
Some of the clones had taken to it with gusto, but others had been more hesitant, and Rex remembers having been one of them. He remembers telling Obi-Wan that there was no real REASON to paint everyone's armor and especially not to come up with personal designs. The armor was practical and it served its purpose with or without the paint and special designs. But the Jedi had insisted on at least TRYING to come up with his own design and if he didn't like it, he could always take it off, so Rex had given in and chosen something to paint on the armor. And, somehow, it felt a little lighter the next time he put it on. It didn't erase the horrors of war or the pain of loss or anything like that, but it helped.
He tells Kanan that the mask right now is just a reminder of the pain of the injury and whatever other feelings he's still got all caught up in the Malachor mission (guilt over what happened with Ezra, grief over Ahsoka's loss). But if he puts his own design on it, it might turn the mask into something other than a constant reminder of something bad. Instead, it's a reminder of who he is, the combination of the person he once was and who he's become. He is more than just his injury or this mission and he can use the mask to declare that if he wants to.
Kanan says he never realized Rex and the other clones had cared so deeply about their armor and Rex says that the armor itself was meaningless. It's better than what's being handed out to stormtroopers, but not but a LOT. It was the design on it that had meant something and, more than that, it was what the design REPRESENTED: having a choice about how you were perceived by others.
Kanan asks why Rex had chosen his particular designs, the bird of prey eyes on his helmet in particular. Rex explains that he chose it because he liked birds and thought it looked cool, but he's kept the helmet for as long as he has because it's come to mean something ELSE now. It's not just a cool-looking design, it's a reminder of a better time in his life. It's a reminder of when he'd been a part of something greater than himself, with the other clones and the Jedi. It's a reminder of a time when he'd had hope that he and his people could one day come out the other side of this war towards a brighter future.
Kanan looks at the mask he'd grabbed from storage somewhere or something just to keep light from hurting his eyes as they recovered and to cover up the injury from other people's stares (even if he couldn't see them staring), then hands it to Rex and asks if Rex minds sharing that symbol because he'd like a reminder of that, too. Rex remembers the 332nd and their helmets that they'd painted to look like their chosen Jedi, almost blindly giving away their individuality in favor of that loyalty that had been stripped from them anyway. And then he looks at Kanan, choosing to make himself look LIKE REX, someone who had shared his face with millions once, because he wants to honor both the connections he'd lost as well as this new connection the two of them have built together now. And Rex says he'd be happy to share.

Osha's backstory episode of The Acolyte fits perfectly with a headcanon I've had forever about Force-sensitive children in the galaxy--that some children feel called to the Jedi and some do not, and that the Jedi look out for this. We see that destiny exists in the Star Wars universe, the Force calls to people to walk certain paths, but that it's still up to them to decide, you still have to make your own choices. (See: Everything about Anakin Skywalker and how the Jedi never brought that up around him, it was always about personal choice and agency. Yes, he was the Chosen One, but he had to choose his path.) From the moment we first meet her, child Osha didn't want to be a witch, she wanted to see more of the galaxy beyond Brendok, she was immediately entranced by the Jedi when they showed up during the ceremony, like a magnet pulling her to them, that she was drawing the Jedi Order symbol long before they ever got there. It wasn't just a sudden way to get out of there, she was feeling this pull towards them long before she ever even met a Jedi. She's the one who first slips out to meet Sol during the ceremony despite being told to hide, she's the one who goes over to talk to Kelnacca before the test, she's the one who fights against her entire family to say she wants this. She's the one who wants this even before she knows there will be other children like her with the Jedi. We don't see the Jedi giving Mae that same nudge, because the Jedi path wasn't meant for her, she didn't want it, and I love that both here and in The Phantom Menace, the Jedi make sure that this is what the child wants, too, that both prequels and High Republic Jedi are shown to take such care, that it's done with the parents' permission, but also getting a sense of what the Force is or isn't calling this person to do and whether they accept it. But Sol gently pushes Osha, not to tell them what they want to hear, but to tell the truth, do you want this? Do you feel like this is right for you? Just as Qui-Gon made sure Anakin knew being a Jedi was a hard choice, the Jedi want you to be sure, want you to feel called to this, because the Force exists, a mysterious destiny exists in this galaxy. It's still your choice, you have to have agency over your choices, it's not just, "What does the Force want?" but instead Sol asking, "What do you want, Osha?" The narrative is careful to point out Sol telling her about his own testing, that he knew he was different from his family, that he was scared at first, but it was clearly his choice. "But you must have the courage to say what you want." The Force called her here, the Force is something that exists within Star Wars and has a will of its own, and some people are not called to this particular path, I don't think Mae was ever meant to be a Jedi, she never wanted it, she never felt that pull. But Osha, like so many other Force-sensitive children tapping into this giant mystical energy field that has a destiny for you if you want it, they are pulled to it and the Jedi take such care with that. Some are meant to walk the Jedi path and some are not, that's something only each individual can figure out for themselves, and the Jedi do their best to honor both the Force's calling and the person's own choices. And if a child resists and pulls away, they let them go, it wasn't right, it wasn't meant for them. But when a young Force-sensitive is practically vibrating in place with how badly they clearly feel this is meant for them, that's something that exists as a thing that really does happen with the Force.

some ppl very kindly loredumped abt the organa-solo kids for me so gonna put that + responses below the cut!! ↓
@erkhyan asked:
Don’t mind me, just dropping some Organa Solo kids lore, hopefully summarized enough. Anakin: both motivated and intimidated by the fact that his name was supposed to redeem that of his grandpa. Had his grandpa’s qualities (excellent pilot, great warrior, very strong in the Force) but none of his negative trait. Traumatized by being unable to save Chewie. Died a hero at age 16 during a successful mission to destroy a Jedi-killing weapon. Jacen: a big, empathetic goof as a teen, but was traumatized by the war that killed Anakin. The war and the trauma of Anakin’s death turned him into an introspective monk who went to learn weird non-Jedi Force powers. Returned, fathered a secret daughter, fell to the Dark Side because the Force told him that every timeline in which he’s not a Sith ends badly for his daughter. Became a Sith Lord by killing mara jade Skywalker. Eventually died when he found himself having to choose between saving his daughter from an Imperial plot, and dodging his sister’s lightsaber. Jaina: best pilot, best lightsaber user, best warrior, earned the nickname of Sword of the Jedi. Unfortunately, people mostly remember the fact that she was stuck in the world’s most annoying love triangle for two decades in-universe. And that time she processed the trauma of Anakin’s death by trying to seduce her Jedi Master. And that time she was in a bug hivemind that tried to solve her love triangle with a sexy threesome. And that time she went to train under Boba Fett so that she could kill Jacen in Luke’s stead. And also because the Jedi Order finally recognizing that she should have been a made a Master years ago, was almost the LAST thing that happened in the Legends continuity. Heavily implied that her husband would have eventually become Emperor (but a good one) if the continuity had been allowed to go on.
CHEWIE DIED??????????? also christ thats a lot to put on poor lil anakin jr-- ALSO AGAIN. POOR LEIA. HASNT SHE BEEN THRU ENOUGH (poor han too but LEIA)
WHY ARE THERE MORE STAR WARSES!!! LEAVE THEM ALONE!! a secret daughter hi i love those but AGAIN. POOR LEIA. A SITH. FR HE KILLED MARA JADE WHAT???????????? oh my god.
i support jaina's turboslaggery she's been thru so much also WHAT potential emperor husband????????? wow ok legends gets wilder n wilder
--------------
@novastargalaxydesigns asked:
I saw your Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin from Legends! And as someone who freaking adores that trio, I'd love to help point out a few things! In Legends of the Force, Jacen starts to affiliate himself with the Dark Side with his cousin, Ben, as his apprentice. Anakin was killed before the book, The Joiner King, and I didn't get the book that he was killed off in, but if I remember correctly, it was told in The Joiner King that he was killed during a mission as a fighter pilot. Jaina, in Legends of the Force I believe if I remember correctly, she gave up being a Jedi to be a pilot. I don't have all of the Legends of the Force books so I may be a bit spiffy on a few things. But we cannot forget Chewbacca's nephew, Lowbacca aka Lowie, and Jacen's childhood and teen hood crush, Tenel Ka whom is a princess and he accidentally cut her hand off with his new lightsaber during the book Young Jedi Knights Lightsabers. And Zekke who went to the dark side in the series Young Jedi Knights (I only got the first 3), but was redeemed. Anyone please correct my nerdiness if I'm wrong. But anygays, you has been educated by a fluffy bean. Had a lovely day!
JACEN CORRUPTS LUKE'S KID??????? HUH?????? CAN THE SKYWALKERS NOT CATCH LIKE. ONE SINGLE BREAK FROM THE DARKSIDE EVER???????? PLEASE
sorry all i can think w the tenel ka thing is:

-----------------------
@m0th-person asked:
To follow up on the solo kids ask, Jaina had a weird love life. Her love interest that she eventually married was Jagged Fel. He is the son of the former baron of the empire , Sootir Fel, and Syal Antilles-Fel (Wedge Antilles sister) . (a picture I found on Wookieepedia when he was imperial head of state, the white streak in the hair seems to be genetic) Jag grew up in Thrawn’s empire of the hand (and was grown up with the chiss expectations, that’s literally the second quote on his wookieepedia page)
Tumblr media
he had 3 out of his 5 other siblings die. He eventually became the imperial head of state (he first lost to his rival political candidate for the role because abeloth messed with it) and flash forward to the legacy comics, his descendants have revamped the imperial remnant into the Fel Empire. It’s mostly believed that his descendants are also Jaina’s because both Roan fel and his daughter empress Marasiah Fel are both force sensitive. And Jacen Solo’s descendant , Ania Solo, says she’s a distant cousin of Marasiah. (Roan)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Marasiah and her love interest) ( the imperial knights were grey Jedi that served the Fel empire) — and in legends Han actually had a family tree (ancestors, specifically, Jonash e solo (who was Corellian royalty and the admiral-prince during the old republic time period)) , and him and Jagged fel’s father used to rivals in the imperial academy. Darth Vader attended his class graduation and I only find this funny because Han became his son-in-law.
jaina was rlly living that booktok enemies to lovers life back in the 90s huh. go girl i love her and support her weird love life decisions so much
omg go han having fancy royalty ties <3 see hanleia IS politically advantageous

One thing I do like about TOTJ's take on Dooku's fall is that it really highlights that the Dark Side makes you absolutely masochistic. (Mega long post ahead).
One thing TOTJ establishes is that Qui-Gon's death is absolutely on Dooku (no matter if the show itself doesn't seem to be aware of it).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
His tone is concerned and his attitude sympathetic and supportive, but he knows. He knows it's a Sith Lord (he even knows Maul's name). He knows Qui-Gon almost died and is marching right into another trap, but he asks questions anyway and affects ignorance.
"I've been warning them about the coming darkness for years," he says, "never to be taken seriously." Using the Council's skepticism as an occasion to complain about how they didn't believe him while lying by omission is a great case of that hypocrisy Dooku loves denouncing in others. Dooku would rather Qui-Gon share his disillusionment with the Jedi than actually do anything to help Qui-Gon. The Council don't believe him? Okay, Dooku, but YOU DO. You can just tell him what's going on.
But he doesn't.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On some level, Dooku has to be aware of what's about to happen. Qui-Gon is walking into grave danger, and Dooku's response to that - before it happens, when there is still time to stop it - is to put the blame on the people who don't know shit while not doing shit himself. (Why can't Dooku be there to protect Qui-Gon, other than because he's already slavishly loyal to Sidious' plans?)
And this moment puts every subsequent action of Dooku's throughout the Prequels in perspective - particularly his relationships with Obi-Wan, Ventress and Yoda.
Dooku is a glutton for punishment.
I've written here about why I think the 'Box' from TCW 4x17 is meant to parallel Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon's mission on Naboo. The dioxis, ventilation shafts, the catwalks and lightsabers, the ray shields, the fire pit... Dooku's idea of a test to find the best mercenaries around is to have them survive what killed Qui-Gon (what he allowed to happen).
During the challenge, it's pretty obvious he starts to suspect Hardeen is Obi-Wan.
Tumblr media
Or at the very least, he's taking an interest in the man who supposedly killed Qui-Gon's own apprentice - Dooku's spiritual grandson (see RotS novelization), whom he's been trying very hard to either recruit or kill himself. And what does he do with that interest? Tries to push "Hardeen" to kill Eval in anger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dooku, who still mourns the Padawan he knowingly let walk away to his death, watches a pantomime of his Padawan's death, while putting in mortal danger all he has left of said apprentice. If he knows Hardeen is Obi-Wan (and it's pretty obvious that he does), he tries to get Obi-Wan to Fall (or potentially die) in a scenario reenacting Qui-Gon's death. If he doesn't know for sure, then he's encouraging his all but grandson's killer to win the tournament because he admires him (for killing someone Dooku wanted by his side).
Whatever the outcome, Dooku chooses to relive his guilt and chooses to make the same choice to kill his loved one all over again, even though we know he hates that he made this choice:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He misses Qui-Gon and needs him but tries to kill or destroy Obi-Wan, whom he needs and wants by his side. (I haven't counted just how many time he does try killing Obi-Wan in TCW while still expressing his indefectible admiration for him - it's frequent, the Box just stands out to me as one of the most noteworthy occasions.)
And he keeps doing stuff like that!! He keeps choosing the path that causes him the most pain. He does it with Sifo-Dyas, he does it with Yaddle, he does it with Yoda and he does it with Ventress.
Just look at him confronting Sidious about Qui-Gon's death:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He KNOWS following Sidious got Qui-Gon murdered and he KNOWS Sidious will continue to kill or order him to kill people close to him. And yet he's quick to reassure Sidious that this doesn't change anything. Securing his position with Sidious matters more than his rage and grief. The ONLY WAY this behavior makes sense is if Dooku is fully aware that he had a choice about Qui-Gon's fate, and decides that this is the path he's on now: Sidious might make him kill everyone he cares about, but he's going to do it. Every time, things will play out the same.
Sidious tells him to kill Ventress, his new apprentice? Sure, why not!
Tumblr media
(And it's not even out of true loyalty for Sidious, because he constantly tries to double-cross him later on. It's pure self-destruction:)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He hates it, Sidious promises him more of it, and he goes along with it!
This is why Yaddle's attempts at bringing him back don't work, in my opinion:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Whatever lies he's told you, whatever you have done, you can make up for it now by bringing him to justice." This might convince a man who is looking for atonement, except Dooku isn't. He is looking for punishment.
Killing or harming those close to him leaves him broken, furious or in pain? He'll just keep doing it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sidious offers him nothing more than agonizing slavery? He'll keep on kneeling.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's when Yaddle literally offers him the Light - the light that is so much more powerful than the Dark that it has Sidious cowering, the light that can save him if he wants - Dooku just strikes her down, even though he was heartbroken over thinking he had killed her just a moment ago.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He chooses to kill her, regrets it and hates himself for it, and chooses to kill her again. HE KEEPS MAKING THE CHOICE THAT HE KNOWS WILL HURT.
His remedy to guilt is to pick a shovel, because by God if he hasn't hit rock bottom yet he's going to dig!

Kind. This was her favorite memory of her childhood. Surrounded by Jedi, knowing how to wield a saber since the beginning of her memories. “Why is it purple?” she remembered asking his mother, she didn't understand in the past, but now she knew how hesitant she was to answer. “It’s your favorite color, isn’t it? That's why." It wasn't because it was her favorite color.
When she saw blood spilled, she knew why it was purple. She had no salvation.
The smell of the sea and the noise of the waves hitting the rocks. Her eyes were opening with the strange feeling of déjà-vu. She's been here before, in her vision, he. She stood up from the bed she was placed in, looking around. A home made in the stones. It felt comfortable and warm. So many years she hadn't felt this. She stopped for a few seconds, feeling a pang in her stomach, lifting her shirt and seeing some bands around her belly. He took care of you.
Taking a few steps, she found the exit of the cave, leaving her breathless as she looked. It was incredible. The immensity of the ocean just a step away from her, like in her dreams. Where was he? She knew he had brought her here, but why? Wasn't killing her enough pain? This torture to find out her fate was too much.
Walking along the sea marches, she saw him. He seemed calm, and that was strange. Flashes appeared in his mind, making him put his hands on his head. A familiar couple, as they walked on the sea marches, hands clasped with smiles on their faces. They looked like they did in the past. Stop, get out of my head, I know. When she managed to stop the visions, she looked ahead and he was there watching her. The man began to walk forward, leaving her alone again. She wasted no time and walked forward to her appointment.
Her steps slowly stopped as she watched him begin to undress. Beautiful, he was beautiful. If he hadn't been fighting all the way on the forest planet with his helmet, she didn't know if she would have had the courage to attack him. She didn't know why she thought that.
The man began to enter the water, swimming and swimming until he was away from the margin. She moved, looking at his belongings, a saber was lying on top of her clothes. Looking at him and knowing he wasn't looking, she walked over and took the saber in her hands. He reminded her of her father's saber. “You are truly a surprise.” Her voice echoed throughout the place, leaving her on alert and putting her saber in attack position. “A surprise in the best sense if you have any doubts.” He turned to look at her, letting a smile grace her face. “Why haven't you killed me yet? Torture? I do not need this." She took a few steps back.
He swam out of the water, still wearing that damn smile. “Kill her? You’re the one with the gun.” Coming out of the water, he collected his clothes and got dressed. The drops running down his body. Not for a moment did you leave each other's eyes. She seemed to be in hypnosis, the torture was to look away from those playful eyes that knew exactly how to play with her. Her eyes were like two large obsidian stones.
"Do not move. Until you don’t tell me why all this shit.” She prepared to ignite her saber, but stopped. Her memory betrayed her, so she let him fall to the sandy ground. Every step felt like she was burning inside. Feeling his presence, without any kind of excuse for fighting, felt dangerous. She looked ahead, noticing his bizarre approach. Just one more step and he would melt into her. “I thought having an acolyte was enough, but your mind is a treasure.” He murmured, looking at every part of her face. “And no acolyte could bring me that pleasure.”
His breathing was irregular, every word out of this man's mouth was fire. An indomitable fire. “I am nothing, and that’s all you need to know.” She didn't deserve anyone's interest. That man could sink her into worse memories of her, and she would rather die than look another second into those dead eyes. He brought her face a little closer, ending up touching his nose to hers. “It’s so angry.”
“You will regret it.” She muttered. Her skin was burning, she wanted him to stop talking. She felt her barriers breaking down every second she let herself look at him. She took a step back, but before she could finish the action, she felt a hand above her hand pulling her close again. Noses touching. “I accept the risk.”
"Are you hungry?"
Tumblr media
"What is your name?"
They walked side by side back to the cave, the heat could still be felt between the two. He let her keep the saber, even though she knew she wouldn't use it against him. She would not be able to do such an action. “Qimir. Can I ask yours?” She thought for a few seconds before saying her name. He nodded as if absorbing the information.
“Can you access my mind?”
"Not exactly. Your anger says something about you.” She knew exactly what he was saying, remembered his dark thoughts.
“Why did you kill those Jedi?”
Qimir stopped walking, looking at her. “You tell me, you were the one trying to stop me.”
His gaze dropped to the stones in the sand, she didn't know how to respond to that without creating more curiosity in him. Her desire was still to remain like salt in the sea, a nothing mixed with so many others. “I saw it happen.” She whispered.
She continued walking, not wanting to answer any more questions, even though she was curious about him. Arriving at the entrance to the cave, she turned to continue watching the ocean. Holding the saber tightly in her hand. “Let’s continue what we didn’t finish on that planet.” Her voice in her ear left her destabilized. She turned her body towards him, facing each other. He approached her, holding the arm that had the saber and pressing it against her belly.
"Do. Finish what you started.”
Her eyes left the ocean to be held by his. Eyes were beautiful. How could a person seem so unreachable? Qimir was standing still, ready to be killed. For her to avenge all the deaths she let slip through his hands. Bloody hands. “Jedi do not attack the unarmed.”
“You said you weren’t a Jedi.” And she wasn't. She never was and never would be.
"Stop this." She tried to pull her arm away, but he grabbed it tighter, not allowing her to pull. “So tell me why you don’t just finish it. Let's go." Qimir looked deep into her eyes, allowing her to continue. But his eyes started to water, not knowing why to continue. “Your parents were Jedi, weren’t they?” Qimir turned his head to the side, asking in a whisper.
“Don’t talk about them.” Tears ran down her face.
“Tell me why you left them.”
“Because I chose it that way.” More tears flowed, she was lost in her thoughts. "Let me go!" She tried to pull her arm again.
“All this pain, this anger. That's what you were hiding. So this is who you are.”
“I'm not like that anymore. I left everything behind.”
“Why have you been hiding all this time? Did Jedi know about you?”
“I left them for protection.” It was a joke how she was a terrible liar in front of a person who could read all her thoughts.
Qimir thought for a while until she realized something happened. “Ah, they were afraid of you. The Jedi saw something in you and that's why they threw you away.”
“They didn’t throw me away.”
“Then why are you still aimless? Why were you never a Jedi?” He, he, he. He is the cause of this. Of your fall. "Why?"
“I have blood on my hands!” With her voice breaking, she moved her hand, pushing him towards the entrance wall, turning on the saber and placing it in front of him. “They would never forgive me. They knew and were afraid of me. Blood of my parents. I was never meant to be a Jedi because I killed one.”
His eyes piercing, trembling and dead.
“Get out, get out, get out.” She dropped the saber, lowering herself to the ground and placing her hands on her head. Hitting one hand on the head. She just asked for a breath of life. So much death and pain.
The heat returned to her body. A body crouched down beside her, placing a hand on her back and stroking it. She took a deep breath, then managed to remove her hands from her head. Her gaze then went up to the man. Qimir looked at her with an affection she hadn't seen in years. She remembered the dead eyes, his mother's eyes. He turned his head to the side a little, barely blinking at you. His hand went up to her arm, exploring it and little by little she found herself intertwining her fingers with his. Her heart was racing and she could hear the ocean far away. But there is an ocean of silence between the two and they were drowning in it.
"Anger. Fear. Loss." Every word said was as if her heart was going to explode, it was so fast. "Desire." Her gaze dropped to his lips, it was a new sensation. Totally different from any other experience. Qimir followed and let his gaze also fall to her lips. “Below the surface of consciousness there are these powerful emotions.” He helped her stand up again, not letting his fingers leave hers. "I lost everything. But when you lose everything. Finally becomes free.”
Her mind was a total mess. She just wanted to stop thinking about her mother. How those eyes hurt you. “I don't care about any of that, I just want them out of my head. Stop torturing me. I feel so, so angry.” Her free hand goes up over Qimir's arm and is left hugging her neck.
Qimir brings his face closer, saying close to his ear. “That anger will disappear when you allow yourself to feel it.” He pulls away from her ear to look at her. Each feeling a force pulling them towards each other. The pink of his lips startled her, making her eyes widen. “Allow yourself to feel.” The exchange of looks. His hand was left on her waist, feeling a slight squeeze of courage.
She pulled his neck, touching her lips to his. She felt his grip on her waist again, being taken to the wall that just moments before he was pushed against. Qimir held her neck with both hands, deepening the kiss. Letting go of all the desire he had been feeling since he saw her taking him down in the fight against him. It was impossible for him not to feel any kind of desire, he had finally found the perfect person. So broken that only he could stick each piece together.
There were no dead eyes, no dead parents, no fear or anger. Everything disappeared and only Qimir's lips moving over hers with so much affection and desire that his heart needed to leave his body stuck in his thoughts.

I am better
Poe Dameron x fem!Reader
A/N: I kinda roasted Rey at the end. I can't help it, I hate her. The only reason I tortured myself with the sequels was literally only because Oscar Isaac as Poe lol.
Quick summary: At a conversation between you, Finn and Poe about the old Clone Wars, you spoke faster than thinking, saying Anakin Skywalker is the best pilot in the Galaxy. Poe did not like that.
Dead dove do not eat - you'll get exactly what's in the tags!
Tags: nsfw, PinV, dom Poe, punishment, cockwarming, kind of dark Poe, jealous Poe.
A/N 2: Just realized the pic looks perfect. Finn is like: "Girl, you better run..." and Poe looks like: "Excuse me? What did you just say?!"
Tumblr media
Sometimes it's better to think before speaking. It all started harmless, Finn, Poe and you were talking about the Clone Wars. Poe was worshipping the Clones, wishing they would be still around, Finn was drooling over Ahsoka Tano...and you? You were all over Anakin Skywalker, admiring everything about him.
"Anakin Skywalker? Come on, that's overkill!" Finn snorted, looking down at the Dejarik round they were playing.
"Why? Just because you're worshipping Ahsoka?" You chuckled, watching Finns dejarik player getting slamdunked.
"Ugh, you and your crushes..." Poe scoffed and leaned forward, preparing his round.
"Atleast we have one individual we love and not millions." you backfired at him, grinning cheekily.
"I think Poe chooses the Clones because all the other ladies are ugly and Ahsoka is the only sexy looking one." Finn nudged Poe, making him give a confused expression.
"Poe, how about Obi Wan?" you asked.
"Nah. He's way too noble, way too jedi-like..." he retorted with an disgusted expression.
"Wait! What about Bo Katan? Isn't she someone you'd be into, mate?" Finn suggested.
"I would even arrange the date between you two." You chuckled.
Poe just looked at you two, surprised but uncaring "You two are absolutely unfair, you know that?"
You three kept playing dejarik for a bit before Finn spoke up again.
"Hey, but what about you? Why Anakin Skywalker? Is it because he turned bad and you're kinda into bad boys?" Finn grinned at you.
"No!" you smiled, turning your head to hide the slight red on your cheeks.
"Don't be shy! Come on, spill it." Poe teased, giving you a cocky grin.
"Alright, alright, you won. I like him because he was the best in everything. Best at fighting, strong in the force." you leaned back in your seat.
"Wait, nothing else? Really?" Poe asked curiously.
"He invented the spinning." Finn joked.
You laughed hard. "And he's the best pilot in the Galaxy." you retorted but gulped as realization hit you.
You looked back up at Finn and Poe, Finn had his hand on his chin, trying to suppress the laughter threatening to come out of him. At this point you were glad at sitting opposite from them as you saw Poe's jaw tensing.
"Pheww, okay guys, I gotta go to Chewie and talk with him about something." Finn broke the silence, preparing to stand up.
"Wait, Finn! We didn't even finish our dejarik round!" You gave him an almost pleading look.
"I- uhh, I'm sure you and Poe can finish it just fine, right mate?" Finn chuckled nervously, giving Poe a pat on the shoulder.
"Yeah, we will get this over with and see who's the better one." Poe gave you a scowl.
"See? That's why I chose Ahsoka!" Finn grinned, finding the situation amusing.
"Anaking was Ahsoka's master!" you retorted, seeing Poe giving you a warning glance.
"See you guys later!" Finn waved and stood up, walking off, leaving only Poe and you alone.
"Poe...listen, I didn't mean to--" You got cut off by Poe, who stood up and made his way to you.
"I'll teach you better." he grabbed your arm and lead you out of the Millennium Falcon, leading you towards a small freighter nearby. Once inside and ensurring they were alone, he lead you to the cargohold and locked the entrance of the ship.
-----
Now you were on Poe's lap, his cock buried deep inside you, he held you firmly in place, not moving a little bit.
"Repeat what you said." Poe demanded lowly.
You squirmed, desperately trying to get atleast some friction "I-I'm sorry..."
"No, no, no, tell me. I wanna hear it coming out of your mouth again."
"Anakin-... is the b-best pilot in the Galaxy-..." you tried to move again but Poe had an iron grip that made it impossible.
"But is he really? Or is there someone better, hm?" Poe asked, holding you in place.
"Yes, you." you replied, making Poe's hips move a little bit before stopping once more. The little friction he gave felt so good, causing you to whimper after he stopped.
"So you admit I am the best and Skywalker is nothing compared to me?" he asked again.
"Poeee, please move. It's killing me..." you begged, feeling how slippy everything down there is.
"Answer." he tutted.
"Anakin is nothing compared to you. You're the best, Poe. Only you." you whimpered needily.
Poe chuckled, "See? It wasn't that hard now, was it?" he started moving slowly, only enough to make you crave for more.
Your eyes lulled back, you wanted Poe to move faster "Please faster."
"Is there something else you might tell me about Skywalker?" Poe asked, his pace increased slightly.
You knew exactly why he asked you that, he knew your mind was clouded with pleasure and thinking wasn't your speciality rightnow.
"He's handsome.." you slipped out.
"Handsome, huh?" Poe repeated, his hips stopped again.
"No- I mean- you-you're handsome. Anakin's not." You stuttered, trying to correct yourself.
"Damn right I am." he started moving again.
"If you ever say someone is better than me again, I will make sure to fuck you so hard you will forget all their names and only remember mine. Now enjoy the ride, honey."
Poe's thrusts increased even more, moving you up and down simutaniously.
Your orgasm approached so fast, it was only mere minutes before it ripped through your body. Poe's orgasm came right after yours. He grabbed a rag and cleaned both of you up while you put your clothes back on.
Poe and you left the freighter, walking back to the Millennium Falcon as Finn approached
"Heyy, did you two finally got an agreement?" Finn asked, looking at you two.
"Yep. We uh- we came to an agreement that Anakin is better at..." you trailed off, looking at Poe who was looking back at you expectantly.
"He is better with his lightsaber than Rey. I mean- come on, Anakin got training and Rey didn't, right? Having powers without getting trained is no right to call themselves a Jedi, right?" You chuckled nervously, your eyes flicking towards Poe for a split second.
"Damn, girl, you're really into the mood to fight anyone today, eh?" Finn laughed.
You glanced back to Poe, seeing him inhale heavily and closing his eyes briefly.
Noticing this, you quickly nudged Finn's shoulder, "Hey Finn, wanna finish our Dejarik round? I beat Poe, but the others are still in it." you urged him.
"Alright. Let's do this." Finn agreed casually and started walking.
You walked closely beside him, looking over your shoulder to see Poe shooting you another warning and his expression turning dark.
Oh no...

[StarWars AU] [Din/Jedi Master(Luke)]
Padawan Din Djarin (1)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here’s the (2): NSFW
I think it’s a “FUCK or DIE” scene? Oh, don't worry, Padawan Din is no longer a minor, so he's up to be f…🤭(well, you know what I mean)
This piece was inspired by an artwork featuring a Padawan Din posted on Tumblr. I was like: "Aww, this is an excellent idea! I want to draw a Padawan Din too! The Padawan braid is the cutest thing, and I bet many people haven't seen photos of a young Pedro Pascal before, so I need to let you see it." So I combined these two photos and drew this Padawan Din.
In this AU, Din was still a foundling of the Mandalorians, but instead of taking the creed and becoming a warrior, he was found to be gifted with the Force. So he was taken to the Jedi Temple and trained to be a Jedi. To honor the Mandalorian who took him in when he needed it most, Din wears Mandalorian symbols on his Padawan outfit, and the Council allows it.
I imagine that Din would remain a Padawan longer than average. It's not that he doesn't excel in his training - on the contrary, he's an elite! He's always had the wish to protect the young, the weak, and his Master, so he's very dedicated to his training. But why hasn't he been knighted already? It's because he doesn't want to be separated from his Master!
Din is quite sentimental, just like we've seen him in the TV show. Once he thinks of someone as family, he'll never leave that person. But being knighted means he'll be sent on missions without his Master, and he can't bear that. He's failed his trials on purpose multiple times, and eventually the Council didn't want to push him anymore, either, because they sensed Din's doubts and that he wasn't mentally ready to become a Jedi Knight.
Din will become a Knight, that's for sure. Din knows it, and his Master is also persistently persuading him (although the Master is also getting harder to leave Din, too🤭). But for now, they'll just keep each other's company for a while longer…
I don't mind if anyone wants to use this setting to write fanfics, in fact, I'm totally encouraged! (I prefer Luke to be the Master, I love Obi-Wan too, but feel free to choose other characters.) Just let me know when the story is done, I’d love to read it!

Hot Take: Oshamir is One-Sided
[Spoilers for The Acolyte]
Star Wars fans know that Osha and Qimir’s relationship is doomed to end tragically. The Sith is a culture that eats itself: the apprentice either kills the master and takes their place, or is killed by the master in the attempt. So even if Qimir kills Darth Plagueis (and we know this won’t happen), he’s just going to have to deal with Osha attempting to kill him one day.
(Side note: I have a sneaking suspicion that Qimir is not actually Sith, since he never calls himself one, he just says "a Jedi like you would call me, Sith." But that's a topic for another day...)
Given what I know about The Acolyte fandom, a doomed romance is hardly something we'll shy away from; we’ll revel in the tragedy of it all, and the sadder it is and the harder we hurt, the more we'll love it!
No, I want to discuss something else; something I don't think many Acolyte fans really want to acknowledge... that the “romance” as shown at the end of series is one-sided: Qimir's side. The last shot of the series implies that Qimir and Osha are ready to face the galaxy together, hand-in-hand, but...
Qimir cares for Osha; Osha does not care for Qimir.
Tumblr media
Hey! HEY!
Put your pitchforks down and just hear me out, please!
What Qimir Desires and Fears
Qimir -- his arms muddy, his dark hair slick against his sweaty brow, holding Mae hostage with his lightsaber threatening to ignite through her skull at any moment -- explains his motivation to Sol:
Tumblr media
"[I want] freedom: the freedom to wield my power the way I like, without having to answer to Jedi like you. I want a pupil. An acolyte."
Qimir wants acceptance and connection, to be seen and appreciated by someone else. But he mentions several times that he wants a pupil, which by definition would put him in a position of power and authority over someone else, even if it's to help build them up.
This presents an underlying contradiction in what Qimir says he wants, versus what he really wants:
Does he want an equal who sees and cares for him?
Or does he want a pupil that he can teach from a position of power?
The show leaves the answer ambiguous, but nestled in this contradiction lies Qimir's biggest fear.
Qimir fears opening up and being seen. He wears a mask to conceal his identity, but he also hides his character behind his personas: the buffoon, the nervous helper, the murderer, the teacher, the seducer...
From Qimir's point-of-view, he's been betrayed before, and that betrayal left scars...
Tumblr media
"I was [a Jedi]. A long time ago... [...] It was a really long time ago."
...so he needs to protect himself from getting so close to someone that they harm him again.
Betrayal and Murder on Khofar
So, on Khofar, when Mae reveals that she was only ever using "The Stranger" for her own revenge, Qimir chooses to kill her.
Tumblr media
He could have chosen to run back to his ship and let Mae rot in Jedi jail (or wherever they take murderous Force-users...), rather than risk discovery. Attacking Mae and the Jedi was not a smart move if he feared being seen. But that doesn't matter: he's Sith, and he finds strength in his emotions, including his own fear.
So, he resolved to commit murder against Kelnacca, then slay the whole Jedi posse hunting Mae, and then deal with Mae.
But here's the thing: Qimir likes to frame his actions as self-defence...
Tumblr media
"I killed Jedi. I killed those who threaten my existence."
..but this isn't actually true, is it? He didn't need to kill Kelnacca in his home -- Kelnacca, who knew nothing about Qimir, or Indara's death, or Torbin's death, or any recent event really, and who was absolutely no threat to him -- nor didn't need to face off against the entire Jedi posse.
He chose to commit murder and engage in combat because he couldn't stand the fact that Mae used and betrayed him.
Osha Sees Through Qimir
The conversation between Qimir and Osha seems to be him slowly convincing her that the Jedi are terrible, and that she should find her own path to power.
And, of course, that he can be her guide.
After all, he answers nearly every one of her questions with a question of his own, in a kind of socratic method designed to make her question her own judgment.
All the while, Qimir uses a gentle voice and gentle touch to signal that he yearns for her, that he craves her acceptance, that he can help her if she just accept it, that she can trust him.
To make her feel safe, he even lets her hold his lightsaber...! (😏 ...ladies...!)
Tumblr media
This seems to work since Osha is engaging him in conversation. But Osha has seen Qimir in action, and knows that there is no possible way for her to defeat him directly.
Osha has the lightsaber, but Qimir holds all the power here.
Despite that, Osha calls him out many times on his choices.
"You killed Jecki."
"You killed Yord."
"I'm not my sister. I'm not so easily corrupted."
Osha never takes her eyes off her objective: to escape Qimir, get back to Sol, and confront her sister for her crimes.
Osha's Fatal Flaw
Mae and Osha are binary opposites in their personalities and motivations. Where Mae is community-minded, Osha is independent. Where Mae values tradition, Osha values freedom. And where Mae tries to repair frayed relationships, Osha does not forgive those who cross her.
It is this last trait that proves to be the fatal flaw that leads her down the Dark Side.
Osha. Does. Not. Forgive.
When Osha first saw Mae as an adult, she shot her!
Tumblr media
She didn't try to reason with her. She didn't try to help her escape. She didn't say "how did you survive?" or "I missed you."
She just fired.
But you know what? Maybe emotions were running high, right? The moment was very heated, so spontaneous violence like that could just be a one-off thing, surely?
Except that the second time they meet, Osha tries to arrest Mae without listening to her story.
Tumblr media
And the third time they meet, Osha is downright raging and trying to kill Mae...
Tumblr media
... which is a little confusing to Mae because she's trying to help Osha!
And it is Osha's inability to forgive which leads her to committing her first murder, when she finally learns that Sol had lied to her for years.
Tumblr media
Osha falls to the Dark Side all by herself, of her own volition.
Doomed Romance
After she kills Sol, Qimir continues to use gentle touch with Osha, pursuing his seduction of her.
Tumblr media
But when Mae asked Osha "what do you want, Osha?", she didn't reply with "I want to be with Qimir."
She said:
"Let [Mae] go, and I will train with you."
It was a bargain, for which she offered Qimir what he wanted most: a pupil who accepts him.
Osha is signalling that she cares for him. But she doesn't.
Osha cares for her sister. And Osha does not forgive.
She remembers that Jecki and Yord were her friends, and they had nothing to do with Sol's crimes. They were innocent, and he killed them when he went out of his way to engage the Jedi in combat.
Osha is playing Qimir, just as Mae did. She will learn from him to use the Force, and then take those teachings to fulfil her own goal of rescuing Mae and restoring her memories.
Qimir will learn the truth of their relationship one day, and on that day, like all Sith masters and apprentices, he will kill her, or she will kill him.

summary
you'd find every book there is in search of a world you can get lost in. you thought you weren't really special enough to pursue an adventure for yourself. when one day, you notice a certain jedi spend a lot of time in your quiet library. strange— how he'd choose to sit in solitude when he can be pursuing a more colorful life outside, even stranger, is how he shows you a portrait he drew of you.
tags : fluff, romance, comfort, maybe a bit of angst(?), but it's a happy fic i promise!
warnings : none(!)
notes : hello angels! i REALLY needed to write a lover-boy-anakin for my sanity and this came to me because of this blog and watching 'the portrait of a lady on fire' because i just love how artists love. so if you're in for a tooth-aching soft fluffy ani fic, i gotchu!
likes, comments, and reblogs are highly appreciated!
Tumblr media
There is nothing more magical than the worlds you escape in reading for hours.
You can become an adventurer, seeking a great legend, or a fighter, ready to give your life for a cause, or a witch, enchanting villages to heal, or something useful, like a staple gun, or in love.
It would always take you away from the realities of your world. A galactic war, you grieve at night for; because you're you. And you're only the librarian in the capital city of Coruscant.
Besides, there's the Jedi Order and the Republic to fight the war. All there's left for you is to wait, and cry silently, and try to live despite it all.
You close the book you were holding, it was the last installation of the novel you were following. Towards the end, the female lead finally achieved her life's purpose— a happy ending.
It left you feeling empty, jealous even. Because she got to live a life worth hurting for— a sweet fervor. At least her suffering is met by an ending she deserves.
With a sigh, you got up and placed the book neatly on the bookshelf. The library was quiet, like it usually is. No one seems to take interest in thousands of stories waiting to be unravelled.
Maybe, they're actually living a life worth telling a story for. And you're here, stuck, looking for anything to take you off your own reality.
You heard a chair creak from a distance. You perk your head up, trying to find the source of the sound.
A lone man sat, holding what looked like a book in his hand. He was wearing robes you could recognize were of the Jedi's. Strange, a Jedi reading, even stranger, he was holding something, a pencil or a pen, and he was writing down in his book.
As the librarian, you wanted to come up and ask him if there was anything you could help him with. Half-hoping to hear what type of books he was interested in. But his eyes were focused and intent, like he was really immersed, and you thought it best not to disturb him.
So you left him to his business. It was already late, and your energy is already depleted from finishing your book.
The following days were identical. Arranging books, cleaning shelves, helping a few readers find their books.
The Jedi you once saw that night became ever-more present. You wanted to ask what he was reading, must be something good if he's willing to sit down and go through it rather than pursue colorful adventures as a Jedi.
You were finishing the inventory one night when you curiously peeked over the Jedi. His eyes caught yours and you looked away, embarrassed to have been so shamefully staring.
But then, your curiosity overcomes your embarrassment, so you walk up the Jedi.
"I can't help but notice you come here often" You began, trying your best to conceal your excitement. You wanted to know what he was reading, you needed some place to take your mind off.
"Oh?" He looks up, closing his book.
The cover didn't have a title, and you frowned at the let down.
"Well, I've never seen a Jedi actively want to read before" You commented, earning a chuckle from him.
"May I ask what you're reading?" You blurt out.
You could feel his gaze land on you and you suddenly feel conscious of being subjected to his attention.
He shakes his head with a lighthearted smile, and tucks his book to his robes.
"No, I'm sorry, It's not a book" He answers.
Seeming to read the visible disappointment in your face, he brings the book on the table again.
"Then what is it?"
"I draw, sometimes" He answers, handing you his journal, you turn the page revealing his sketch of the architecture of the library, it was elaborate, sharp lines that capture the symmetry of the columns, darker shades where there is no light.
Your eyes land on another sketch, a mech-droid. He even has a deconstructed version beside it like he had been studying how to operate it.
You turn another page, and you recognize a woman, Madame Jocasta, the librarian for the Jedi Library.
"These are really well done." You commented. "Are you a mechanic?" You asked, finding another elaborate deconstruction of a lightsaber.
"Yeah, you can say" He answers with a smile. "But I'm a Jedi knight, I'm only drawing what interests me"
"Why come to the library then?" You asked, turning to the last few pages, and to your surprise, you saw a sketch of the night you finished a novel you were reading.
Your cheeks were painted scarlet— following the lines he used to capture your visible dismay. You look up, stuck between being flattered and feeling embarassed.
"I meant to give you that" He scratches the back of his head.
You shake your head, deciding it was an innocent act to observe and draw what he sees. "Well, you got my nose wrong" You tease.
He chuckles, as if he's relieved by your positive reaction.
You dared turn another page and find another portrait of you, you recognize that it had been the day when you were explaining the metaphor used in your favorite classical tale of a boy who's got too much in his ego, it ended up being his downfall.
The Jedi didn't fail to capture the Twilek's reaction to your rambling and you laughed at the picture.
"I think she just wasn't ready to hear the tale of a boy who got too close to the sun" You explained the reason for the Twilek's expression on the portrait.
"I don't understand why it'd be a tragedy, Icarus was smiling when he fell" The Jedi speaks, and your heart skips a beat. He knows the story, you fought the excitement to urge him to expand on his thought.
"You know the story?"
"Ah, my mother used to tell me a lot" He answers. "She told me that he knew exactly what it'd mean if he went too far"
"And you think he was happy when he fell?" You inquired, curious by his optimistic view.
"I think he finally achieved his life's purpose" His lips curl to a smile.
For a moment, you held your breath, perplexed by how he interpreted such a tragic end.
You caught him looking, and you stripped your gaze away, closing his journal and handing it back to him.
You hoped that you've not made him feel embarrassed to not want to come again. The way he gave a fresh view on your favorite tale made you want to hear what he has to say.
"Well, if you're interested in drawing, I'm always here" You invited.
His eyebrows flash. "In that case, I swear I'll never bore the way that Twilek did. You can tell me all the stories you can"
Your heart skips and you can't help but smile at the thought.
"My name's Anakin"
"[Name]"
Anakin became more apparent to your life.
With your permission, he finally was able to study you, his eyes would narrow in focus, trying to replicate what he sees and how he sees you using a pencil, and you, reading stories and tales out loud.
In the beginning, you felt squirmish. He was really intent on looking at you, seeing you. No one else has quite looked at you the way he does. and you felt like every insecurity of yours was brought up front.
It felt like undressing; you thought, if he sees too closely, and unmasks you, will there be anything underneath? You felt like you were too mundane for him to look at you the way he does.
"And towards the end, she'd settle for a quiet life. She'd have lain on the ground he'd walk on, and this was a life she could see herself in" You finished the tale.
Anakin's eyebrows furrowed, showing dislike for the ending. "That can't be her end" He states his opinion.
You put down the book, happy that he was thinking the same as you. "Why do you say?" You encouraged him to speak more.
He doesn't stop looking up and down from you to his sketch. "She was an traveller, she wanted to sail" He recalled the synopsis.
"She was in love, it made her have different priorities" You considered the point the author made.
His hand halts, and his eyes land on yours. "If he truly loved her, he would have allowed her to become a fully realized person. He'd not have asked her to extinguish her fire" He looks up, as if in thought. "If he loved her, being near her fire would have been enough"
You smiled, surprised to learn that Anakin had been such a romantic.
"Well, what do I know, I've never been in love" You shrugged.
You look up to find Anakin's expression soften. You wondered what he was thinking of in this very moment.
"It's done" He says after a while.
He shows the portrait, and immediately, you see how unkept your hair looked. Then, how he deliberately emphasizes the creases of your cheeks when you smile and how he erased a portion in your eyes to make them appear as though it twinkled with light.
"You don't like it?" He says after noting your reaction.
"No, no, it's lovely" You answered. Though, you felt like it was too pretty, too idealized. Perhaps, he was seeing you in a manner you can't, for better or for worse, you don't know.
He nods, you can see his reluctance to ask what you thought, then you mentally slapped yourself for forgetting he can sense, and he definitely got what you'd been feeling.
The following afternoons went like that. You freely speaking your mind and him carefully sketching, listening.
For the first time, you don't feel like there is a need to escape your world anymore. You wake up, filled with stories you wanted to tell Anakin. Your heart would skip every time you hear the bells of the library door ring. Or when you'd catch Anakin so deep in focus, as if he was committing you to memory, and over time, his sketches of you became more honest, he'd sketch your insecurities with charming strokes, and you don't feel as though you have to hide them around him. He looks at you and sees art. It felt like the most comforting thing.
"But that was the test, he needed to trust that she'll walk behind him, he has to decide that it would be enough" You challenged his view one time you finished reading a tale of two lovers, Orpheus and Eurydice.
He has finished drawing and put down his journal to engage with your opinions.
"Can you really blame him? The Gods were playing with his doubts" He defends.
"Right, he did walk to hell for her" You considered.
"But isn't that what makes it so tragic— they could have made it out, they were so close" You grieved, because despite knowing the ending, you still hope that somehow, they'd find a way to crawl out of hell. Enduring love like that earns an ending that is deserved.
"Orpheus was only a man. He chose to look at her, one more time. He knew if he did, he'd lose her. And he did. It's a choice not of a lover, but of a poet" He concludes, and you thaw.
You'd still find yourself mesmerized by his mind. The way he sees things, the gentleness that comes, not because of the absence of violence, he knows too much of it in the war, but because despite the abundance, he remains tender.
You don't know when you started falling in love with Anakin. You only know that he'd be the story that'll last for your lifetime.
Anakin hands you the portrait. And you smiled at the expression he chose to immortalize. One of when you're almost brought to tears narrating how Eurydice was always behind Orpheus despite him never hearing her.
"I wish I looked this pretty when I cry" You commented, tracing over the lines of his sketch of you.
You felt Anakin tuck a loose strand of hair to your ear. He was looking at you with the same focus, the same wonder, same fascination.
You've grown so used to his gaze, it felt like you were communicating something that can't be expressed into words.
"If you see yourself the way I do now, you'd never doubt my sketches" He softly speaks.
"You're beautiful"
His words latched to your heart.
Anakin is the most dream-like of all; sometimes he feels like a mere character of a novel incarnated into an etheric being.
Anakin held your face, and in the heat of the moment, you pressed your lips against his.
You thought, if anyone else can feel how he makes you feel, they'd never doubt that true love exists.
The understanding you craved for— he gave you most ardently.
Saying 'I love you' came easy. Sometimes, you feel as though saying it would not suffice for how enormously you felt for him.
Your afternoons became late nights, and early mornings. Anakin would ask you to stop smiling, so he could draw you in honesty, but how could you not? You loved the way he'd be so immersed, so lost by gazing at you.
It was a bliss you've only known with Anakin.
But you watched how slowly, he was becoming more and more tense. You're not fighting the war the way he was, being a General, wielding a weapon at the front lines.
He'd rip away pages in frustration, and though you try to soothe the tension and pressure, you're afraid that this story will end in a tragedy.
All your favorite romances leave you feeling hollow towards the sad ending. And with Anakin, you keep being haunted by the thought that any moment might be the last.
What an odd plot to be involved in; loving and being deathly terrified of losing it.
You wrapped yourself in his robes— wishing the feeling to stop plaguing you. Anakin had been asleep, and you stood by the balcony, deep in thought.
You tuck your hands in your pockets, feeling your fingers grow cold by the crisp midnight air.
A piece of paper crumples, and you unfold the portrait.
It was the night you first shared yourself with Anakin. Your mind is flooded by the memory; how he made sure you felt comfortable, how he took every moment slowly like the world outside didn't matter.
You didn't know he drew you, or that he kept it in his pockets. It was strange— to see the picture he loved most was one where you were sleeping. You tuck the paper back inside and go back to bed.
He's gone most of the days now. But you can tell he's making the effort to stay awake when he'd come to your quarters.
"—Love is not an everlasting performance in which you have to attempt to keep your lover's attention. Rather, it's the release of insecurity to trust them to choose to stay, no matter what they see" You narrated softly, thinking Anakin had fallen asleep.
You planted a kiss on his forehead.
"I don't think I've heard this story before" He speaks up after a while.
"No, you haven't" You managed a wan smile. "I wrote it"
Anakin was looking at you the way he used to before. Your heart ached, but you proceeded. "I love you with what in me is unfinished, with what in me remains changing. By you, I am forever undone."
Anakin holds you tight.
"Do you think it'll have a happy ending?" You spoke nakedly.
"Not all stories end in tragedy, my love" He reassures.
You bit your lip "We'll have to conquer the fates, it's been written so many times, a cruel ending" You can't entirely let your fears go.
"Fate gave you to me"
"If by some twist, we end in tragedy, then I am happy to have loved you" He says.
You let out an exhale. There was the simple truth of it; that all things must go, even Anakin. And like him, you felt as though you were blessed to even share a portion of your life with him. Loving is never a waste, even just for the brief time you're allowed in one lifetime. You decided it would be enough for you.
In his arms, it felt like you're unravelling a story that may have a happy ending after all.

Episode 7
Fox: I know what I want to do...I know what would make me happy... Cody: Hurry! They're starting! Wolffe, shoving past Cody who's moving too slowly for him: Let me in! Bly: Wait! Did they already say something? What did I miss? Rex: Fox said he knows what he wants to do! Cody: Gree, hurry! Thire: You don't look so certain, Fox... Fox: ... Cody: Force, just say it! Gree, jogging in through the door: Hey, Fox! I thought I might find you here! Fox, looking surprised: Gree! Gree, wrapping Fox up in a hug: You look stressed, as always. Wolffe: He was that serious about him? What happened? Fox: I do love him...I would die for Thorn. Kriff, I live for Thorn... Cody: Damn...Why can't Fox love me? Bly: He'd cheat on you, you know... Gree: That...is not the same love, Fox... Fox: No, I mean he's my best friend and I love him. Gree: ...I see... Fox: I think...I'm just going to continue with the affair, you know? Only we'll acknowledge that we love each o-- Gree, sternly: No. Rex: All is forgiven. Gree's character is the only one with any sense! If we are willing to take the parts of previous movies in the trilogy that remain unsaid in following ones into our interpretation of the one we are watching, then the tusken massacre is relevant in RotS. Shmi is not mentioned by name, Anakin's actions are not spoken, but his dreams of Padme's death form a perfect echo of his dreams of Shmi. We can come up with sensible in-universe reasons for the callback, like how maybe Palpatine knew and induced the dreams to trigger Anakin, or perhaps the Force at work, but maybe it's just a fairytale, a parable, a rhyme.
Maybe it's a fun echo because it induces a sense of dread in both the audience and in Anakin. We've seen this before, we know where it leads. But while he's thinking about Padme, we're thinking about what he will do. Well, I am.
Anakin begins RotS as a liar. First, we watch him lie to Obi Wan about why he killed Dooku. The lie comes easily enough, Obi Wan believes it even more easily. Anakin Skywalker, exemplary jedi knight, hero of the hour, follower of the code. He feels uneasy about it though, he says so to Padme. When Obi Wan give his farewell and tells him how proud he is, and how Anakin has grown to be a greater jedi than he, Anakin cannot look him in the eye. It works on it's own, just about, but back to back with AotC it works better.
Of course, a lot of his lies are about Padme. (A lot more sympathetic, but also a far more absurd reason to clam up in a way; we know that the people who love him will still love him if chooses marriage over the Order.) But as he goes to Yoda and begins to tell him about his dreams, he stops himself. He does not tell the whole story. He cannot. We know why, we just watched aotc. Those dreams led to that death which led to that fall. We've seen it all before. He is so afraid.
I don't think it's controversial to say that Anakin's isolation and unwillingness to go to anyone except Palpatine for counsel contributed to his crisis in RotS. Palpatine definitely took advantage of that, and Anakin eschewed several onscreen attempts to get him to just. open up.
His actions in aotc were a foreshadowing of what was to come, but they also began a pattern of behavior of repression and denial and deceit. If he had come forward- if he had faced his actions which genuinely did cause him some horror at the time- he would have faced more immediate consequences. He would have disappointed and horrified Obi Wan (and the other jedi), he would not have been knighted, and he would not have been given positions of authority, at the least. But considering how much damage he did and how much he lost when he committed to the dark side, I would say the consequences of his deceit were far greater in the end.
Something that comes to mind is both the ending of the OT- with the darkside being something he could choose to just… stop doing, and also Yoda saying 'forever will it dominate your destiny'. I can see how they might sound contradictory, but to me they are in harmony- it is a choice, you can walk away, but there are always consequences. If Anakin had been held to account, there would have been immediate consequences, consequences he desperately wanted to avoid, but that wouldn't have been the end of the world for him either, not really. They wouldn't have actually stopped him from ever being okay again. (let's be real, even if Obi Wan were disappointed, he'd still have loved him, and Padme certainly did. ) Anakin didn't commit to the darkside when first he fell, he wanted to go on as he was- he wanted to keep the things he had- and so he could continue to act as a jedi for several years because he chose to act like one for the most part, but he did not fully commit to being a jedi either, and his dishonesty, and his lack of remorse, eventually had consequences for him. And for everyone else.

I love how we're supposed to believe Danny and Steve were just bros in spite of the multitude of evidence to the contrary.
Your honor, the prosecution would like the present the following.
Evidence number 1
Steve looking like his puppy was pupnapped when he saw Rachel with Danny. Unless we're supposed to believe he was harboring intense feelings for a woman he saw twice, it doesn't explain why he'd look so heartbroken and betrayed.
Evidence number 2
Steve is the only one Danny allows to call him Danno besides Grace. We're talking about his child here, the light of his life and his entire universe and the other part of it that happens to be a Navy 🦭 with a complex.
After the third time he stopped bitching about Steve calling him Danno, and when was Danny ever known for shutting up when truly annoyed? That's right, never.
Evidence number 3
Danny gave up his chance ar a normal life for Steve. That man had his entire future offered to him on a silver platter, he spent all of the year complaining about being in Hawaii, being away from his child and about everything really.
But when he finally has the chance to leave he does what? Does he go to the airport and flies back to Jersey like one would assume he would? No! He stays.
He knows Rachel, he knows he might as well be closing that particular door for good, but he doesn't care. He chose Steve over his chance of happiness, over Rachel and hell, he doesn't even blink as he does it.
Evidence number 4
Is canon y'all. Danny doesn't usually threatens people with violence, by the time season 2 rolls around the only person we see him doing that for is Grace. Bare in mind Rachel was in the car when it was stollen, and yet he only threatened douchebag to not get near Grace.
Same can be said about anyone else who has ever been in danger, but Matt I'm pretty sure (don't mind me, I'm rewatching it and I just finished season 1 so it'll be a while before I catch up to that minefield). So he threatens someone because of his daughter which he's said over and over it's his life, over Matt that is his fucking brother and that he loves and sees as the reason he made it through the divorce and... *checks notes* Steve.
Am I sensing a pattern here, Jedi?
And bare in mind he didn't just threatens anyone but a fucking CIA agent. I mean how crazy does one have to be do to that? I'd say very.
Evidence number 5
He follows Steve anywhere. Danny is deeply afraid of leaving Grace without a father, and yet he couldn't not go after Steve in North Korea and then Afghanistan.
Both are very dangerous countries for foreigners, both places he very much was in danger of not coming back from, but he still went.
He didn't have to, he could've left Joe handle it, he could've kept himself safe and not be in any danger but he still went. He went even though he knew he could die, that the odds of that happening were high, but he didn't care.
Evidence number 6
Landing the plane on the beach instead of doing it in the water. Danny knew that doing so could get him killed, would most likely get him killed but at that point he didn't care.
We see Danny once again choosing Steve over anything and anyone else. Choosing to die instead of living without him.
At that point I could argue that he chose him over his own children. Charlie was still a child, Grace still needed a father, but losing Steve would kill him just as much as losing one of his children so he doesn't have a choice.
If he Steve dies there will be only wreckage, so following right behind its the only thing he can do. It's a thousand times better than the alternative.
Evidence number 7
Steve being willing to lie to the FBI for Danny, than to follow Danny and helping with the whole Matt situation.
Evidence number 8
Steve helping Danny with Grace and getting Rachel to drop the visitation bullshit. And then helping in the hearing and even dressing in his blues for it.
Steve showing time and again Danny wasn't alone, that he had him on his corner now for better or for worse.
Evidence number 9
Steve looking like he was sucker punched when he heard Danny begging Rachel to take him back in that freaking voicemail and looking torn when he saw they reuniting later on. Why would anyone look like that to their very platonic, not very love of their life's partner?! I blame Alex for everything
I will continue as I rewatch because I forgot most of everything but for now, I rest my case.

So the Ahsoka show (and a dream I had last night) gave me an idea. Imagine: AU where in Chapter 11 of The Mandalorian, Bo-Katan tells Din to go to Ahsoka... but also says that if Ahsoka won't help, then he should try finding her apprentice, Sabine Wren, on Lothal.
So after Ahsoka refuses to train Grogu, Din goes to Lothal before he tries Tython, which is therefore where everything with the Darktroopers goes down, which means that (a) Sabine is able to give Hera a heads up that the Empire is Doing Something, and (b) Sabine ends up inadvertently roped into the events of the rest of Mando S2. The Grogu rescue mission sort of helps her feel better---at least to feel like she's doing something. Din, meanwhile, sees someone just like him, who needs to keep busy to keep her mind off her trauma, so he decides to call her up for a little "help" whenever he feasibly can claim he needs it, or for some Jedi Training™ with Grogu (who didn't go with Luke, due to no trip to Tython and no seeing stone), or whatever excuse he can make up, which ends with Sabine getting pulled into BoBF and Mando S3, too.
Highlights include:
Din & Sabine: *win the fight with Moff Gideon together* Sabine: *takes the Darksaber from him, just to disarm him* Sabine: WAIT ACTUALLY NOPE NEVER MIND *throws the Darksaber as far as she can & refuses to pick it up again*
Sabine: You want ME to teach your kid? Din: Yes. Sabine: You do realize that I can't use the Force? Din: Yes. Sabine: And that my master stopped training me because I wasn't good enough? Din: Yes. Sabine: And that I have absolutely nothing to teach him? Din: Yes. Sabine: ...nothing I say is going to deter you, is it? Din: No.
Sabine: I just... feel... lost. Boba: Well, you could always work for me on Tatooine. Fennec: Have you ever considered an assassin business partnership? Bo-Katan: It's gonna take me a loooooooong time for me to get over you winning the Darksaber again, but you are my best friend's daughter, so if you choose to, you may come with me. Greef Karga: The Nevarro school could use an art teacher, you know. The Armorer: You are always welcome to take the Creed and join our covert. Din: How do you feel about being adopted? [later] Ahsoka, to Hera: Should we be concerned about the number of questionable figures trying to take in Sabine? Hera, having Maul flashbacks: Trust me. It could be a lot worse.
Sabine: You need to go to the Living Waters? Yeah I know where that is, I can take you. Din: That's a relief. Otherwise I was going to go ask Bo-Katan about them. Sabine: Oh? Let's ask her anyway. I'm totally down to bother Bo-Katan. Any time, any day. Kalevala HERE WE COME-
Din: While I appreciate your modifications to IG-12, Sabine, I'm not so sure about the words you've added. Grogu, delightedly smacking his new button: KRIFF. KRIFF. KRIFF. KRIFF. KRIFF.
Din: You had me at 'battle droids.' Sabine, giggling: yOu HaD mE aT 'BaTtLe DrOiDs'
Sabine, watching Din make his 'your song is not yet written' speech: This is sooo much better than the holodramas. Axe Wolves, side-eyeing her: You don't get out much, do you? Sabine: Nope. Want some popcorn?
.....ANYWAY, my point is, Sabine gets dragged into All The Mandoverse Shenanigans. Which is pretty funny on its own, right? But it gets better.
Because it just so happens that Din is on Lothal with Grogu when Ahsoka shows up with the map. and he kinda just....gets pulled along for the ride. So then HE'S in the AHSOKA show, mostly just trying to make sure Sabine doesn't do anything crazy, following her when she does it anyway, and being confused about Everything. Which lends itself to additional hilarity--
Din: Nightsisters? I heard they were witches. Ahsoka: They are. Din, internally: Oh my manda, I finally KNEW something!
Din: The evil Jedi are chasing us! Sabine: They're not Jedi! Din: They're not? But they have laser swords like you! Ahsoka: There's still a difference! Din: What difference? Ahsoka: Jedi use the Light side! These are Dark side users! Din: There are different sides of your sorcery??
[Sabine and Ezra reunite] Din: I'm so glad you finally found your husband, Sabine. Sabine: Ezra: Din: The crabs: *start gossiping* Sabine: He's... he's not my... husband... Din, confused: But you've clearly been living the Mandalorian marriage vows? One when together, one when apart, sharing all... Sabine: Yeah, no, that's- that's just coincidence. Din: Hold on. You live in his house, and you keep all his things, and you refuse to leave Lothal for more than a week or two at a time because it makes you miss him too much- Sabine: *makes stop talking gesture* Din: -and you gaze lovingly at the enormous mural you've painted of him, and you left everything behind the second you knew you had a chance to save him, and as far as I can tell, you've been utterly devoted to him since the moment he disappeared ten years ago- Sabine: *stop talking gestures intensify* Ezra: Wait, Sabine, is this true? Din: -and you're telling me you two aren't married? Sabine:

First Impressions
The galaxy was in pure chaos. She wasn't one to shy away from a bit of chaos now and then. In fact, some would say she was something of an expert back in her padawan days! This was different, however. Ever since The Battle of Geonosis, everyone from the outer rim to the heart of Coruscant was in a tizzy to say the least. Drawing lines, choosing sides, making plans, and in the middle of it were the Jedi. Once they were the galaxy's humble peacekeepers, now they were expected to fight this war for the citizens they had sworn to protect.
Tumblr media
A/N: I suddenly got in the mood to write a little something about the day Kepler was assigned as Brea's padawan because I don't think I've talked very much about how everything started! No warnings for this one, just a short drabble and some dialogue to sort of establish their relationship dynamic at the beginning to set the stage. Maybe I'll add onto it and include their first mission, maybe not, but for now here it is! (Divider cred. @/cafekitsune)
Brea’s foot tapped anxiously against the spotless floor of the temple as she wrote out the report on her last mission, her boots leaving slight scuffs on the pristine marble in the process. She'd developed the nervous habit over time after suddenly finding herself in the position of Commander, less than a week after becoming a Jedi Knight to begin with.
She had no battalion to command. When she was deployed on missions, it was usually either as backup for a Jedi General who'd gotten in a bit over their heads as they attempted to push back Separatist droids with their clones, or she went out solo. Using her skills to scout out potential threats, in which case she was solely responsible for the outcome of such missions…and for all the paperwork. Her least favorite part of the job.
Getting shot at by droves of nasally-voiced droids was somehow preferable to this. Her eyes strained against the walls of text on the datapad before her, a headache beginning to form from blue light exposure. Her focus started to wane as she wondered how a droid could have a nasally voice anyhow? What kind of person would program them with that particular kind of voice box? Was their intention to annoy the Grand Army of the Republic to death?
“Speak with you, may I, Young Callisto?” An unmistakable voice and speech pattern shook her out of her thoughts.
“Oh, Master Yoda! How can I help you?” She said, lowering her datapad to reveal the short, green Jedi before her.
He was not alone, however. A young boy stood awkwardly just a few inches behind him. His small frame was emphasized by his posture, shoulders slightly hunched as he looked nervously between her and the back of Yoda's head. Though his robes were disheveled and seemed to be just a bit too big for him and his signature braid was done rather sloppily, he was obviously a padawan. Seemed the right age, probably between 12 and 13 years old. He wore thick goggles that obscured most of his face, but behind them his brow was furrowed, and he had slight wrinkles under his eyes that he was definitely too young for.
She didn't have to use the Force to know that this was a kid who didn't want to be here. That begged the question, why was he? She looked back towards Yoda for answers.
His large ears twitched as he leaned against his cane, always taking such a long time to say what he was going to say. She tried to remind herself that she was in the presence of someone much older and wiser than her and to not get impatient.
“Young Callisto, a very important task for you, I have. As you know, spread thin across the galaxy are the Jedi. Yes. Very thin.” He started pacing slowly, his cane tapping against the floor as he did so. “As many hands as possible, we will need to win this war.”
Finally, he gestured to the boy. “Introduce yourself, young one.”
He seemed unprepared, as he suddenly snapped upright and his hands fumbled to clumsily grip at his robes. “O-oh, me do it? Ok, uhm…my name is Kepler Quinn, Master Jedi!” He punctuated this with a quick and shallow bow, more akin to a nod than anything else. His small voice had an extremely distinct squeak to it, as though it couldn't decide whether the pitch wanted to settle up or down.
“Well, it's uh, nice to meet you, Kepler!” She smiled invitingly to try and set him more at ease, “Heh, so polite. Thank you, but I'm not a Master.” wait…
Brea began to piece together just what Yoda was suggesting and was stunned into silence for the briefest of moments. Not long ago, Anakin had told her about how a padawan was suddenly sprung onto him without so much as a warning, and in the middle of a battle no less. Sure, she had thought about perhaps someday in the future taking on a padawan learner herself, but she always thought it would be a long time from now and that it would be her own choice. And with the war going on, she just didn't have the time.
“Master Yoda, I- I- don't know…how good of an idea this is. I mean, I've only been a Knight for how long?” She stammered, not wanting to sound like she was just outright rejecting the kid when he was standing within earshot. “Do you really want me to be a master?”
Yoda hummed thoughtfully, stroking his chin “a strange and unusual time this is for us all, Young Callisto. Do things the way we have in the past, we cannot. Learn to adapt, we must. And learn from you this youngling will!” He pointed at her with his cane for emphasis.
“In need of help, General Skywalker and his men are. You and Young Quinn will go to the front lines and assist them. Yes, that is your task.”
Brea perked up just a bit upon hearing this. Ever since seeing Anakin on Geonosis what seemed like only yesterday, the two were as thick as they had been as younglings, but with how the war was going they hardly had any time to spend together. They usually ended up posted in totally separate star systems and always seemed to be running off to a new mission. This would be a good opportunity to catch up with him, once she was done saving his butt, of course.
She breathed in deeply through her nose, and out through her mouth, resting her free hand on her hip. This was classic Yoda. He wasn't allowing her a lot of time to consider it, if Anakin needed her help, then she would never be the one to keep him waiting. “Well, Kep. What do you say?”
“I guess I don't really have a choice, so…” He replied with a hint of bitterness, his eyes not meeting her gaze. This gave her a bit of pause.
“Hmm, decided then, it is.” Yoda glanced up at her knowingly. She hated when he did that, like he had some sort of trick up his sleeve in order to teach her a lesson. “If unsure you still are when you return, another master we will find for the youngling. There is no time to waste. Leave immediately, you must!”
“Yes, Master Yoda.” Brea said in unison with the boy, as they watched the ancient one shuffle down the temple hall and out of sight. There really was no arguing with him in the end, and at least for now, it seemed Brea had a padawan of her own.
—--------------------------
That was how she found herself where she was now. Her ship was roomy enough to comfortably house two people, but she had been so used to riding alone that she couldn't help but feel a sort of…weight in the Force around them. She sat arms crossed in the pilot's seat and watched the lines of blue and white light streak past through the cockpit window. There were few places as good to strike up conversation in than hyperspace.
She looked over at Kepler, who sat stiffly and silently in the co-pilot's seat, as though he was afraid to move even a muscle for some reason.
“So, this is your first time off-world, isn't it? it's exciting, huh?”
“I dunno. I feel more nauseous than anything.”
“Eh, that's normal! It'll go away after a while.” She said with a wave of her hand, a deceptively blasé gesture to hide the fact that she was actually floundering just a bit. She'd been trying to break the ice between them for a little while now, but had only managed to get similarly dry responses from him thus far. She was normally so good with younglings. When she visited the initiates when they had a break from their studies to play in the courtyards, they had lots of fun. But this one was so different. Most children raised in the Jedi Temple never see anything else until they reach padawanship, the little guy should be ecstatic right now!
But she wasn't sensing any sort of joy from him right now. Not a hint of excitement. He sat disgruntled and the slightest bit on edge like he was waiting for something terrible to happen at any moment.
“I hope you're not worried about it being your first mission, too. I promise, it won't be that ba-”
“You don't have to keep trying to talk to me, you know.” He said suddenly, cutting off her train of thought.
She quirked an eyebrow, eyeing him from the side as she idly flipped a switch here and there on the control panel to keep the hyperspace jump running smoothly. “I want to talk to you. It seems like we're gonna be spending quite some time with each other from now on, right?”
“Sure. If you say so…” He said under his breath, but just loud enough that Brea heard it over the hum of the ship's engines.
If she says so? That was more than a little concerning to say the least.
“Well, did anyone say otherwise? Come on, we're in this together now.”
He stayed quiet, retreating into himself both physically and emotionally. That wasn't good, she needed to get him to elaborate more so she could finally figure this kid out. What would her Master have done if she needed her to open up to her…?
“Well, this reminds me of my first mission as a Padawan. My Master Yora Tos was a very powerful Jedi, and she had such a kind soul. But she was also such a chatterbox. There we were, it's my first time entering hyperspace, I'm trying to focus be amazed by it and she just would not stop yammering on and on and on and on and on-”
She heard him heave a rather large sigh. Bingo.
“Alright, I'm sorry, it's just…I don't have. A very good track record with this sort of thing.”
“What, with hyperspace?”
“No, with my Masters.”
Masters…plural? It wasn't necessarily unheard of for a padawan to be reassigned once in a while. Sometimes the matchup just didn't work out for one reason or another. It seemed like what was bothering him ran a little deeper than that, though.
“How many…Masters have you had?” She pried carefully, not wanting him to clam up again. She was worried she'd made a mistake by asking when he didn't reply right away, but after a few moments and another large sigh, he did.
“Three.”
She blinked. Three previous Masters? Ok, now that actually was a little bit unheard of. Now she was starting to understand him a little bit. She only ever had one, so maybe this wasn't a matter she could relate to personally, but she felt that she could at least try to sympathize with him.
“Jeez, that's rough, buddy. Why did you drop them? You didn't like em?”
He turned away from her, leaning against the arm of the seat and resting his chin on his hand. “I didn't. They dropped me. Because I'm, well… I'm not really cut out to be a Jedi.”
Her head swiveled towards him, “Hey, don't say that! I'm sure it's not true.”
“Well, I mean? I kinda tend to fall behind, someone is always having to wait for me to catch up. My saber technique needs work. I can barely move a pebble with the Force. And on top of that I'm always getting sick.” He emphasized this with a wet-sounding sniffle and wiped his nose with the sleeve of his robe. “I'm not exactly a star pupil.”
Brea exhaled through her nose as she pondered this. All of that stuff had always come so easily to her, she couldn't imagine how frustrating it must be to struggle so much with it.
“Well, everybody has stuff they're not so good with. It just takes time. And the right guidance! Who were your previous Masters anyway?”
“Well, there was Master Tiin, and Master Koth, and I guess most recently Master Windu.”
“Whew! Well I can hardly blame you, kid.” She said raucously, “That one definitely wasn't your fault.”
He tilted his head to the side as he turned towards her, suddenly seemingly interested for the first time since they met. “What do you mean?”
“Listen, Master Windu has always been bit of a hardass.” She began, leaning back in her chair. Surprisingly enough, this got what she thought was actually a snort out of him. It was almost laughter. Not quite, but close enough. “Ha, that's probably why he's on the Council now, so I doubt much has changed since I was a youngling. His standards are so high you couldn't reach them if you were at the highest point of Cloud City.”
“Yeah…” He turned away, his expression starting to fall again.
Shoot. She dared to reach over and tried to put a reassuring hand on his shoulder, causing him to flinch ever so slightly. She retreated a bit, but suddenly it seemed like a new resolve had settled in her mind. Somehow she wasn't convinced that this kid was the problem here.
“Listen…if becoming a Jedi was easy, then everyone would do it, right? If you're here then it means you have every right to be.”
He said nothing, merely humming a noncommittal reply in return before looking ahead through the cockpit window. Her eyes turned in the same direction. The star streaks that had been shooting past them at impossible speeds suddenly slowing until they stopped entirely and returned to their natural shape as points of light in the far distance. The whole ship shook slightly as they were finally dropped out of hyperspace.
Brea sighed and rolled her neck to pop her upper vertebrae before turning her attention to the control panel, switching the ship from autopilot to manual controls again.
“Alright. Let's get down there and save Skywalker's skin!” they began their descent and soon they would be breaking the atmosphere. “In my experience, hands-on learning is way more useful than anything you can learn from silly old books anyway!”
She glanced over at him and saw how his eyes widened as he watched the planet's surface slowly approach them. His lips pulled tightly in a sort of grimace as he was no doubt imagining what sort of scene awaited the both of them there. So, he was a bit nervous about his first mission. In an ideal world, it wouldn't have been under these circumstances, but at least one thing was clear to her. She wasn't gonna let anything happen to him.
“Remember, I got your back out there, kiddo.”
He swallowed harshly and turned, throwing her a thumbs up and some semblance of an awkward smile, revealing that he had a gap between his two front teeth. Something she hadn't noticed before now.
Fear response or not, this was the first smile she'd seen from him this entire time, and as she returned her focus to the ship's steering apparatus and prepared for landing, she smiled back.

Obikin Jindokin Art by Kana7o
Tumblr media
New Jindokin art by the amazing @kana7o!
I shared this idea a few months ago on Twitter. An idea where Anakin is a Jindo shapeshifter rescued by a teenage Obi-Wan in some sort of a modern AU (or something). This idea hit me so hard that I had to get Kana to draw them for me, and she did so beautifully! The art is right after the Battle of the Bath, and little Jindokin is snoozing away in the warmth of Obi-Wan's lap, feeling loved and protected.
Here's the link to the original Twitter thread and I've also copied it here under the cut for those who are interested. Seriously, Jindokin is my new love :D

Puppy Jindokin
My new Obikin idea involves Anakin as a Jindo shapeshifter (look at me embracing my Korean heritage!) who is rescued by a teenage Obi-Wan. Anakin and Shmi are living on the streets of Coruscant in their Jindo forms, and they run into some malicious individuals out to hurt them.
Shmi fights back and protects her son, and they manage to escape, but not without a cost. In a dark alleyway, Shmi dies from her injury, and Anakin, now all alone, cries and refuses to leave her for the next couple of days, not caring that he is cold, hungry, and thirsty.
It is Anakin's sorrowful cries that bring Obi-Wan to the alleyway, who usually wanders around Corsucant after school (he attends the prestigious Jedi Academy) to avoid returning to an empty house because his foster father, Qui-Gon, is always away on business trips.
Obi-Wan takes careful steps towards Anakin, aware that an alleyway is never a safe place. As he gets closer, he sees the puppy's mother, and his heart immediately goes to the little orphaned puppy. Anakin, despite his weakened state, snarls and growls at him to stay away.
That doesn't deter Obi-Wan, for he crouches near Anakin and says, "It's okay, dear one. I'm not going to hurt you. Shhh, it's okay." Anakin doesn't get the message, and he tries to snap at the strange boy, but he falls over and whimpers as he cries for his mother.
Obi-Wan reaches into his pocket and pulls out some apple slices he didn't finish from lunch, and he places one in front of Anakin, who stares at it with hungry eyes. Obi-Wan smiles and gently says, "Eat. You can have it." Anakin tentatively licks it before scarfing it down.
Obi-Wan gives him more apples, but Anakin ignores it and only returns to Shmi's side, and he nudges her with his little nose, whining at her to wake up. Obi-Wan's heart breaks at this scene. "I'm sorry, little one." Anakin cries, while Obi-Wan watches for a bit longer.
Obi-Wan then offers, "If you are okay with it, let's find her a safe place to bury her, and then you can come home with me. Would you like that?" Both the puppy and the boy stare at each other for a few minutes before Anakin whimpers in acquiescence.
Taking off his jacket, Obi-Wan gently wraps it around Shmi and picks her up along with Anakin. He walks them over to a nearby park, and he chooses a quiet spot to bury Shmi. Anakin sits and watches as Obi-Wan does the deed. When Obi-Wan finishes, he picks Anakin up.
Anakin starts to whine and cry, and Obi-Wan knows that Anakin doesn't want to leave his mother. Obi-Wan coos at him and promises him that they can come here together every day, but first Anakin needs care, food, and shelter. Obi-Wan holds Anakin against his chest and heads home.
Once home, Obi-Wan gives Anakin some food and water. Next, he gives Anakin a bath, who hates the entire process. Obi-Wan can't help but chuckle at the never-ending whining. The way Anakin tries his best to escape from the sink, soap, and water is something he will never forget.
After the Battle of the Bath, with Anakin all clean, he lets out a long yawn as he sleepily snuggles into his new master's cosy lap. He is now safe, no longer cold and wet, and his belly is full of good food. He knows that he has found a good place. He has found a new home.
Many years later, Obi-Wan discovers Anakin's secret of being a shapeshifter. He's in for a huge surprise when he wakes up one day and finds human Anakin in his bed, but that's another story for another day. This is all about Obi-Wan and Jindokin and how they find each other.

So I have this mildly amusing concept in my head that follows my Codywan at a bar concept (that I don't think I've shared.) It would be really amusing if a bunch of horrible stuff happened and then the 212th and 501st all head back to coruscant together and Cody is all mopey and upset and distancing himself from obi wan for whatever reason and Rex is like 'dont worry we're gonna go to a bar tonight and make this better' and Cody is like fuck no, because Cody. And then Rex tells Fox and Fox, Mr by the book, is like oh yeah sure let's go and he's the one who picks Cody up and is like you're going. And when they get to the bar Rex is already there but he's got Anakin and obi wan with him and Cody is like...pissed at Rex and Fix because this was a set up. And all the sudden Quinlan appears out of nowhere, turns out fox didn't choose to come Quinlan said 'youre going, we're getting obi wan and Cody together, and we'll have a date night' and fox had like begrudgingly agreed for that reason. Cut to Rex is sitting awkwardly at a table with Cody And Obi wan, making sure they drink, and is also drinking himself and eventually Rex gets tired of them and goes and starts dancing with Anakin who hit the dance floor as soon as they got there. Cut to a little later, Cody is DRUNK. And obi wan is really drunk too, but he had gone off to the bathroom so Cody is still awkwardly sitting at the table people watching. Quinlan and Fox have long since disappeared. Anakin and Rex are like dancing so close they might as well be one person. And Cody's by himself. A club dancer comes up and Cody is drunk enough she convinces him to dance with her. Cody is in a State™️ and this girl just taught him how to dance. He's like out of it, that's how drunk he is, and obi wan comes back, also like super super drunk, downs another drink, and sees this club dancer hanging all over Cody and putting her hands all over him and having Cody do the same to her. So Obi Wan walks up to Cody is like 'mind if I cut in' and this club dancer is just like oh another hot man yeah sure and obi wan cuts in, but he doesn't dance with her, he starts dancing with Cody. Cut to Cody's memory pretty much blacking out and waking up the next morning in Obi Wan's bed at the Jedi Temple. He's confused at first because he's been in this room before but can't place it and then he realizes where he is. Obi Wan is awake and tells him good morning, both have horrid hangovers but the minute Cody hears Obi Wans voice he practically falls out of the bed and hits the floor, scrambling to put his clothes back on because he's just in a t shirt and briefs and he's freaking the fuck out cause he just woke up in the same bed as obi wan. Which it's not the first time he's fallen asleep near Obi Wan, but he also can't remember much of anything. So Cody rushes out the door, Obi-Wan calling after him (spoiler alert they didn't do anything they both just went back to Obi-Wan's place and crashed because they're old and boring even when drunk off their asses, but also they're in the middle of a war so they have every right to be exhausted.) And Cody goes rushing back to the barracks and practically pounds on Rex's door until he opens up. And when he does Cody starts talking real fast and Rex is like half sitting up watching him, not really as hung over cause he didn't drink that much, and has a higher tolerance than Cody cause let's get real he drinks way more often. And Cody is rambling and Rex is just like 'cody calm down it's okay, have a seat.' and Cody sits and puts his pounding head in his hands and is like 'I slept with Obi Wan.' but he doesn't know if they banged or not (they didn't.) And suddenly another person sits up in Rex's bed and suddenly Anakin is there and he's like 'what?! You slept with Obi Wan?!? Obi Wan slept with someone?!' and then chaos, hilarity, and angst ensues.
Like believe me, there's so much more to this idea but this much has me giggling.
