limitless is such a good fucking show i will be angry forever that it was canceled and no one picked it up for season 2, it deserved better!!
It's the show I just enjoy the most, I have the best time watching it it's so fun and and smart and good! It's hands down my favorite show just from a production stand point everything from the writing to the set design to the costumes to the acting and directing!!!
Brian Finch is the best character I've ever encountered he's everything I want out of a character who just cares so much and wants to do so much and finally gets a chance to fucking do anything about it.
My favorite character moment in any piece of media ever is when Brian holds up the bank in the pilot, he steals a gun from the security guard and just fucking holds it wrong while he asks everyone so politely to stay calm (Excuse me, everyone, I'm robbing the place) and then tells the bank teller to contact the FBI and Rebecca Harris specifically, and then he just waits around for her to arrive!
And they put him next to two normies who just have completely different attitudes towards him, Rebecca who trusts him and sees his potential and desire to do good, and Boyle who fucking hates his guts and thinks he's an annoying loser (and they're both correct!!!)
just thinking about Brian tearing himself apart, manifesting the distinction between NZT Brian and Normal Brian and just not valuing himself (Normal Brian) but even when he's in the think of it he chooses to be Normal Brian because Normal Brian is good and he cares and he can't live without caring but he's both and there's only one Brian
thinking about Rebecca hiding her relationship with Casey, keeping her distance even though you'd think as the SWAT guy Casey would be the tough guy who doesn't care but HE'S more invested in the relationship and he wants more from her and when she breaks up with him over text in the middle of a meeting and how it directly leads to his death (which is a great PSA for why you don't break up over text lmao)
thinking about Eddie Morra and his lofty goals and how he manipulates Brian by asking him "are you ready to become someone who matters" but Brian Finch does fucking matter, he always did, because Brian's the one who cares, Brian's the one who acts, Brian's the one who helps people, and all NZT did was put him in a spot where he could actually do that

Whumptober #24
xxx you’re not making any sense
It’s not the first time Brian has been tied up and blindfolded. It’s not even the first time he’s been tied up and blindfolded against his will. It is, however, the first time that he’s been in this position without the benefit of NZT. Whoever had snatched him had clearly done their research, because they’d waited until the pill wore off before they drugged him and dragged him into the back of a van.
And now he’s...well he’s somewhere. He has no idea where. Even with the immunity shot, the first few hours after the NZT wears off are the hardest as his brain readjusts to the lack of chemical boosters. It makes it hard to focus, hard to think critically and, maybe worst of all, hard not to panic.
“Breathe, Brian,” he mutters to himself. “Just breathe.” He’s sitting on the ground against a pole, his arms tied behind him, and it’s cold, and he doesn’t know what to do. He--regular Brian, not Pill Brian--had recently learned meditation (Naz had made them all go on a mandatory mental wellness retreat after the infamous Break Room Incident), so he decides now might be a good time to practice.
“You are the sky,” he says. “Everything else is just the weather.” He repeats it a few times, hoping it’ll stick despite the fact that he doesn’t actually have any idea what it means. “You, Brian Finch, are the whole fucking sky. And everything else--”
He’s interrupted by the sound of the door opening and a man with a thick Brooklyn accent says, “Is just the weather. Yeah, we got it. Look, uh, Doc’s almost here. I’m gonna move you over to the hospital bed. I told the boss I didn’t think you’d put up a fight but he still wanted me to tell you that if you do, I’ll bust up both your kneecaps.”
Brian doesn’t know who Doc is, but he doesn’t like the sound of it and he can feel his heart starting to race as the man’s footsteps get closer. “What-” The word doesn’t come out and he clears his throat. “What makes you think I’m not gonna put up a fight?”
“Well for one, I’ve been listening to you in here meditating for the last fifteen minutes. For two, that fancy pill of yours is all worn off. And for three, you’d hafta be stupid to try it, and you don’t seem stupid to me.”
“Wow. Thanks,” Brian says as the man undoes the knots around his wrists. Pill Brian would know exactly what to do right now--the right words, the right moves. Regular Brian is just scared shitless. “Any, uh...Any chance I could talk you into letting me go?”
The man lets out a short bark of laughter. “Not unless you’re secretly a genie. Now, on your feet.”
Brian lets himself be pulled off the ground and onto his feet.
“You know I work for the FBI, right?” he says as the man leads him forward.
“Yeah, yeah. You’re not gonna change my mind buddy, alright? Bed’s right here, sit down. There ya go.” Brian sits, and the man ties one of his wrists again, this time to the bed (it’s a proper hospital bed, partially sitting up and everything). “Cooperate with Doc. I really don’t wanna come back in here. And you don’t want that either. He’ll be in in a minute.”
“Okay, but what-”
“Bye, Brian. And don’t touch that blindfold or I’ll cut off a finger.”
And then Brian is alone again, sitting on a hospital bed trying not to think about what could be in store for him. He has one hand free, and he could easily remove the blindfold. He could probably undo the knot, too. But he believes the man, and he doesn’t want to end up fingerless and crippled. So he sits and he waits and he hopes to god that Rebecca and Boyle find him soon.
And then the door opens again, and he hears the sound of heels clicking on the concrete floor, and a second later there’s a cold hand on his wrist.
“Okay, Finch,” Doc says, and it’s a woman which shouldn’t surprise him so much. Her voice is colder and more distant than the man had been. “I’m going to take your vitals first. Pulse is high, which is to be expected.”
Then he hears the velcro of the blood pressure cuff, and a second later it’s around his arm. He’s done this a hundred times, mostly in the last year as the FBI has been keeping strict tabs on his health, but somehow it’s a lot scarier when he can’t see what’s happening.
“BP’s high, too. Which I told him would happen.” She’s talking to herself, now, and Brian can hear her bustling around. “It’s definitely not optimal but the boss is the boss. Alright, lie back for me.”
Brian doesn’t move. He’s trying to think of something, anything, he can do.
“Look, I’ve got about a dozen different drugs and sharp implements here I can use to help me get what I want. Not to mention what the guys out there’ll do to you. So I suggest you make it easier for both of us and do what I ask you to do when I ask you to do it.” He’s doing as she says when it finally clicks, the slow, grinding realization that isn’t as clean as the streamlined process of the mind on NZT, and he speaks before he can tell his mouth not to.
“This is about my immunity.” Which is a stupid thing to say, he realizes immediately, and he follows lamely with, “...Alleged immunity.”
He jumps at the sensation of a cold, wet cotton ball on the inside of his elbow. And that’s when he really starts to panic.
“What are you doing?”
“You need to try and calm down for me, Mr. Finch,” Doc says, and wraps what feels like a giant rubber band around his bicep, tying it off tightly. “There’s going to be a little pinch.”
He lets out a cry as the needle goes into his arm, immediately breaking into a cold sweat, and then she undoes the tourniquet and he has another realization, but this once scares him more. Because the team at the FBI has taken blood, too, but they only ever took a few vials at a time. This feels more like the one time he tried to donate blood. When they were gonna take a whole pint of the stuff, but he’d passed out before they even got the needle in.
What the hell do they need this much blood for?
His heart is hammering, and the world starts to spin dangerously.
“Hey, Doc?” I, uh...I don’t feel so good…”
And then he slips into oblivion.

◊ ♫ ◊— look what the cat dragged in! that’s GIOVANNI DE LUCA and HE is an around 27-year-old NEWCOMER to the store, but they’ve been in the neighborhood for 8 MONTHS. I think he is a PAINTER and I overheard them listening to FLAGPOLE SITTA by MAGNIFICENT TRACERS, and, I dunno man, it seemed pretty fitting. Like, call me shallow but I look at them and think of LUKE PASQUALINO and A PAINT SPLATTERED ROOM, FRESHLY MADE PASTA, and A MIDDLE FINGER TO THE WORLD. (ooc info: essy, she/her, nzt, 23)
hello everyone!! i am essy!! nice to MEET U!! giovanni.. is such an old muse. deserves zero rights. with that in mind LET’S LEARN MORE.
nicknames: gio! i guess u could call him van. no one ever has and i don’t know why they’d start but
sexuality: hettie. u hate to see it
traits: callous, dismissive, loyal, creative
likes: (some) art, cooking, his wife, maybe three other people
dislikes: fast food, most people, long walks on the beach
family: eden graves (wife), andrea de luca (sister), aldo de luca (npc, brother), beckett liao (npc, son) bart and samantha de luca (npcs, parents)
now? for some BACKGROUND (TW: mention of suicide, drug use)
i’m tempted to say gio has been a bitch since birth. and that’s because he’s a scorpio. i’M JUST KIDDING SCORPIO RIGHTS but? i can say that giovanni was always the black sheep of the family.
born into a prestigious bloodline, with no branch of the de luca tree sprouting anything less than doctors, politicians, lawyers, or otherwise names in high places, gio was... an anomaly. though his father was a senator, and his brother was looking to follow in those footsteps, this middle child never particularly felt any drive to do something “important”, as his father would say.
luckily, the black sheep of this generation could bond with the black sheep of the earlier generation! uncle ricky and little gio were pretty much inseparable. only ten years older, gio thought of his uncle as more of a cool cousin you look forward to seeing at the family reunions than an authority figure.
a chef, ricky taught gio how to cook! it’s how they bonded. big part of why gio is such a #KitchenKing to this day.
but gio always knew ricky wasn’t super happy. the concept to little gio’s mind was always an elusive one. because, sure, gio didn’t feel like he fit in with his family, and he felt misunderstood, but he didn’t feel sad-sad, not in the way uncle ricky did, where he wouldn’t get out of bed for days at a time. so, in the very least, when giovanni was sixteen and ricky left, he wasn’t angry with him. he knew how hard it was. it didn’t make it any easier to be without his favourite person, though. maybe the only person who understood him.
giovanni definitely went off the rails after that. soon enough, he came to new york for college, studying classical and fine arts, which provided him with enough freedom to do whatever the fuck he wanted, which tended to be! bad things! being the son of a rich senator meant the funds to access coke and hookers and, wow, the way gio was hitting two birds with one stone by having fun and publicly embarrassing his father!
it was only when he got a girl pregnant that with the help of his best friend briar he got his shit together a little. IT WAS DEFINITELY A LONG ROAD, and giovanni’s definitely still a shit! but now gio’s a shit who has some self respect. some.
soon enough, gio met the love of his life, eden graves! boy does he simp for her. witness it and shake your heads with me.
now, gio’s at a stage in his life where he’s like, vaguely aware that he should be letting his four year old son get to know gio’s family. don’t get him wrong, giovanni still hates them, but now that he knows his sister andy’s in town... some reconciliation rights? look, he’ll try, but no promises.
WANTED CONNECTIONS
so you’ve made it this far. brave of u. be rewarded with possible plots:
COUSINS: must i? explain? if u come from a successful family.. maybe so...
CHILDHOOD/LONG TERM FRIENDS: giovanni is... hard to befriend. but don’t we all have those people we knew when we were three whose posts we still like on facebook? do we all still use facebook? anyway. whether they still get along, barely talk to each other, or have come to dislike each other... i’m about it
PARTY BUDDIES/COLLEGE FRIENDS: from the days past!! they could still be a bad influence,, or have cleaned up too,, or just look at gio like :/ wtf bro u went square :/ because he sure did
RIVALS: gio’s a painter! he holds gallery opens etc frequently. if ur in the same line of work...
ANYTHING ELSE!!! whatever you can think of, or organic rights! either way... i look forward to rp’ing with u... love u

❧ he is a boy made of smoke — a soldier, a weapon, a wound in motion ❧
❝ He’s the same on the field as he is everywhere else. Strong. Graceful. Fucking ruthless. ❞ JORDAN BOLGER? No, that’s actually RONAN NOTT. A SIXTH YEAR student, this GRYFFINDOR student is sided with the DEATH EATERS. HE identifies as a CIS MAN and is a PUREBLOOD who is known to be STUBBORN, UNTRUSTING, and WRATHFUL but also DRIVEN, RESOURCEFUL, and COURAGEOUS. { JANE, 22, NZT, SHE/HER }
aloha this is ronan (and jane again, which is just embarrassing) and he is... Something™
he has a pinterest here
ronan is the eldest of two children of theodore nott and isolde montague; he was born three years before his sister, but their current age gap is... a little more complicated
[ emotional abuse tw ] // theodore nott was always a hard man. rigid and cold, with expectations. he was never as good a teacher as he believed, always expecting more from his children than he was capable of teaching them, and yet never letting up. their inability to reach his expectations was not the fault of his teaching —- it was always, always on them. ronan pushed himself to be better, to fulfil under his father’s tutelage, and when it became evident that his father’s expectations exceeded his father’s capabilities, ronan pursued things privately —- upon arriving at hogwarts, seeking out thalia rookwood for personal training, but even prior to that, conducting his own study, spending his own time seeking to please his father. it was never quite enough, but sometimes theodore looked like it almost was, and ronan lived for those moments of reprieve.
[ experimentation tw, kidnapping tw, just generally despicable actions warning ] // theodore nott had always hated vampires. all part-humans, really, but vampires were a special abomination in his eyes —- that which was human, was alive, and then turned into something other. a corpse walking. death made flesh. a monster pretending to be a person. theo had always been one for experimentation, someone who enjoyed exploring old magical texts and following their alchemical recipes, but it was when his children were younger that he finally got his hands on certain dark texts (ones which would make aleister crowley’s beliefs look saint-like) and took the next step: no longer would he experiment on materials, but finally, on vampirism itself. of course, you can’t attack a concept without knowing what it’s made of. you can’t destroy a disease without curing the sick. and for that... you need the sick.
[ emotional abuse tw ] it took him a while to graduate to it, beyond his theoretical writings, but eventually, he began capturing and experimenting on vampires. the cellar was his domain, and his children dared not challenge that authority. besides, they had their own studies to do —- memorising military strategy from historical battles for ronan, reciting the properties of magical plants for eithne, and every distraction that kept theo down there was one more thing standing between them and his punishing gaze roving over and over them, finding faults in areas they already believed picked bone-dry. [ end experimentation/kidnapping tw ]
this was the way things were. their mother, isolde, was present and loving but not strong —- something about her had always seemed fragile, delicate, but that was okay. their father was strong. it was okay if their mother was soft, because their father was strong enough to keep her safe. and if their father was getting more distracted, spending more time downstairs, well, that was okay too, because he’d trained ronan and eithne, hadn’t he? they could protect her. and he was still there, of course; his presence was permanent, constant, and it was a relief for him to be downstairs, because as much as his children loved him, they were suffocated by him too. [ end emotional abuse tw ]
[ torture tw, experimentation tw, murder tw, death tw, parental death tw, violence tw, attack tw, kidnapping tw, just generally despicable actions warning ] one night, it all changed. it was the winter of ronan’s fifth year, and he was sixteen. eithne was a second year, and still twelve. she was the one in the library that night, nearest the door to the cellar. in every other respect, the night was the same as any other. only this time —- one of theodore’s subjects escaped. it’s a blur for ronan. he remembers his father hoarsely shouting his name — and running running running — and the door to the cellar open — his father’s throat ripped out — someone—-something—-crouched over eithne, drinking hungrily, greedily, desperately, and then looking up — mournful eyes, furious and desperate and guilty and a thousand other things ronan didn’t know how to decipher — and then they hurled themselves out the window and ran into the night.
ronan doesn’t remember much of that night after those flashes. he knows he went down to the cellar, to his father’s sanctuary, and found devices that made him feel nauseous in ways he wasn’t sure he’d ever be rid of. he found cauldrons and flasks, labels and meticulous notes in his father’s precise handwriting. ink is stark on parchment, standing bright against the page, and the words burned through his mind. he could barely process it, but he processed enough to understand what it was that had attacked eithne, what it was that had killed his father——what it was that his father had done. [ end tws ]
there was blood in some of the flasks, and grabbing the only ones labelled as ‘clean’, he rushed back up the stairs to give them to his sister. there was blood, so much blood, and his mother was there — when did she get there? — and she was crying, wailing, something cracked as she saw her husband’s body and screamed. and ronan? he went into soldier mode. evaluate the risks. save those who can be saved. use any resources at your disposal. he used essence of dittany to staunch the flow of eithne’s blood, refusing to think about how deathly pale she looked, and moved her to her bedroom, before floo-calling his uncle arthur, who worked with the department of law enforcement. arthur, his mother’s brother, surveyed the scene, and then sent ronan to take care of his mother and calm her down, saying that he would ‘handle everything’.
and handle it he did. he never asked about eithne, and ronan didn’t tell him anything, fearing subconsciously what arthur might expect him to do, but when ronan came down later, it was to a few kindly looking officials asking him about the attack, if he’d seen the vampire at all, how very very sorry they were about this attack, if he had any idea how the vampire had gotten past the wards, if there was any reason why the vampires might have targeted his home— .... if it wasn’t so overwhelming, ronan might have corrected them without thinking, but as it was, his training kicked in, in combination with the effects of the events of the night, and he stayed quiet — numb — answering minutely, in shock, with all the uncertainty of a teenage boy who has no idea how to fathom everything he’s experienced the last few hours.
the upshot is this: his father is dead, at the hands of a vampire whom he tortured, by the looks of what ronan finds in his notebook; his sister is a vampire, and there’s nobody they can ask for help, nobody who they trust to keep their secret, and so they must try hazard it out on their own; his mother loses some of herself that night too, dying in the attack alongside his father’s whole self & his sister’s ability to breathe, and ronan doesn’t know how to keep her together by himself.
so he asks theodore’s brother, edward, to move in. edward nott is an experimenter like his brother, fascinated by history and magic and the intersection of both, in old alchemical texts and the applications he can find, but he is interested in the nature of magic, and he has no use for his brother’s cellar of horrors. he’s scatter-brained, absolutely, and has no pragmatic tendencies, but he’s the nott patriarch now, and his presence keeps prying questions away.
the public story is: theodore nott was attacked by a vampire for his anti-vampire rhetoric, and the trauma of viewing the attack has left eithne nott reluctant to return to hogwarts, and has instead opted to be home-schooled. the rumours are: eithne nott had a breakdown about her father’s attack, and is now practically a squib, the poor thing, no wonder the notts keep her home, imagine the shame— the truth is neither of these things, but they are both much better to be believed, as far as the notts—ronan, really, because ronan is the one in charge now, even though he’s a teenager, even though he’s lost his father and practically his mother too, because he’s the only one left, and someone has to hold everyone else up, right?—are concerned. and so ronan does not speak against the rumours, simply trains with thalia, even harder than ever, and dedicates himself more to becoming what his father wanted, because he knows, deep in his heart, that saving eithne was a weakness his father would never forgive.
[ emotional abuse tw ] ( he has a complicated thought process about it, and it’s all due to his father’s teaching. he cannot help but think of it as a weakness, as him not being strong enough to do what his father taught, and to kill the monster before she became a monster, not when she wore his sister’s face —- but the flipside of that is that in his weakness, he gave her a chance, and that chance showed him that, for all the differences between the eithne she is now and the eithne she was before, there are all the more things that have stayed the same. and so he has this warring sense inside himself, of thinking himself weak for sparing his sister because he knows his father would not have, and—treasonously, perhaps, which explains for the guilt which accompanies the stubborn defiance of this thought, contrary as the two emotions may be—thinking he was right to do so. there’s a lot to unpack there, because his father’s teachings are so drummed into his and eithne’s heads, and there is guilt at the defiance even as the defiance exists, there is believing it was a weakness as well as believing in its rightness, and i think one day he’ll unravel that. for her part, eithne has very complicated thoughts on her father too. she resents him for what happened to her, for what he did which allowed this to happen to her, but she feels guilty for that too, because he died in that attack, and she loves him, just like ronan did, and she doesn’t know if it’s disloyal to resent him for what happened. she’s forever twelve, visually, and that’s something she doesn’t have words to explain her grief and fury over, but emotionally speaking, she’d only just be turning fourteen in july, and she is in no way equipped to handle the tangled emotions she has wrt her father and her vampirism. ronan throws himself into becoming what his father wanted (or has, for now) as a way to process his grief and his guilt, especially because he cannot regret saving his sister, and eithne tries to dispel her emotions by wrecking things in the manor. eventually, i think, they’ll both come to terms with it, or at least confront the truth of what their father was and what that means to them, but for now: they are young, and grieving a man they do not know how to believe in anymore, and also the people they could have been. ) [ end tw ]
it’s kinda funny, in a way that isn’t comedic at all, how theodore would have never given eithne the chance ronan did, because as far as ronan can tell, she’s much more like him than ronan ever was. ronan was moulded by him, but he learned military strategy; eithne’s the inquisitive one, who’s always had the desire to see how things fall apart and fit together, though ronan is sure in every bone of his being that she’d never experiment the way theodore did. sometimes when eithne’s angry, she gets that exact same stormy look in her eyes that theodore did, and it’s all ronan can do not to flinch. he’s learning to see it as eithne’s expression, though, and not a ghost of his father. it’s slow-going, but he’s learning, because the last thing he wants is for eithne to look at herself and see her father, because love always came with something hard with their father, and for the first time, the two of them are really discovering what love looks like without conditions. his father is in the way he thinks—-the way he’s been trained to think, with years of studying strategies—-and fights and duels, and he feels his echoes in everything he does, but it’s in eithne he sees his father, and he loves and hates those moments in equal measure. the one thing that the vampirism and his father’s passing did for the siblings that ronan does not regret is that it showed them how much they mattered to each other —- ronan had always loved his sister, but it wasn’t until her turning and the fact that he did ( and still does ) all he can to save and protect her that really showed them how much they mean to each other. his father was his hero, but he loved his sister just as much as he loved him, and he couldn’t hurt her, not even with all their father’s words in his head, and he wouldn’t let anyone else hurt her either, and that meant everything to her. whatever else, the nott siblings would do anything for each other, and now they know it.
the past summer was especially integral for figuring out how they were moving forward. it had been some six months since eithne’s turning, but it was the first time since the winter solstice when his father died that ronan had been present for a long stretch of time ( given the shortness of easter break ). three months together, to figure things out, and ronan spent most of his time with his mother and sister, or trying to read up on things about vampirism, even delving into his father’s notebooks for any information which could help eithne. when he wasn’t doing that, he was training harder than ever before, or sorting out practical matters, like finances.
when it was time to return to hogwarts, he was incredibly reluctant to leave his sister and mother, but there was something undeniably relieving about it —- he’d been going stir-crazy, and it was what set him to try out for gryffindor beater. he’d played quidditch before, in his youth and in the summers, but he’d never felt any need to try out for the team —- nor is he sure he’d have been accepted to it, given the amount of talent the team had always possessed, and it was only this year with openings in beater position that he considered it —- until now; with all his focus going into his sister and his trainings with thalia, and the classes he’d always valued with his father, he needed some other outlet, something to call his own. he was a natural fit for beating —- not only in the physicality, but the inherent protectiveness of the role. not that he’d ever considered his other teammates people he’d generally protect, but he’d been in the role of protector for eithne for so long that it felt surprisingly natural to fit into it in other spheres, even for irritating people such as lily potter. on a broom, politics and personality didn’t matter, not really.
until, well. the war hit. ronan’s montague cousins had largely been involved earlier —- aurelia, tbd* and tristan, particularly —- but ronan himself had been left mostly alone, given everything with his family. it was known to some of the death eaters that he trained with thalia, and given his father’s death at the hands of a vampire and the effect it had on his sister, it was widely assumed he’d want revenge against part-humans, especially with some of his cousins vouching for it, and so he was left alone until the deaths on halloween. and then — expectations were expectations, and ronan knew what his father would want. moreover, he knew being the perfect soldier would help keep attention on him, and not thinking so much about his sister, and how nobody had seen her for a long time. it wasn’t that he didn’t believe, exactly —- it was what he was taught, after all, and it was only within the last year that he’d had a reason to have a crisis of faith wrt his father’s teachings on the vampire front, let alone everything else that had been in the world... though, his father had always been more concerned with creature status than blood status, though he did tend to be slightly more patient with purebloods than others, in part because he tended to know them or their families —- it was more that his decision-making process was focused primarily with his sister and the family reputation, and had not managed to detach itself from the weight of his father’s expectations.
ronan mostly spends his time at death eater meetings with thalia, who’s been a mentor for him for a long time --- there’s a sort of reputation there, about rookwood and nott, that they’re two who can get something done. he’s not as vicious as odilia travers, but he’s no less physical, and he’s a soldier first and foremost.
[ kidnapping tw ] his opinion on the taking of lily potter is... complicated. it’s not so much about who it happened to as how it happened. he's a soldier, and that was a covert act, a sneaky one, an unfair fight? and he knows deception, he practices in... not deception so much as i guess trying to hide things, with his sister, and his mother and uncle and even some elements of his father's legacy, like trying to keep the notts afloat (i suppose pragmatically rather than any other way —- money's fine, he's not got to worry about that — though i do think theo's experiments were costly, but they can manage — but it's more that his uncle is not practical, and not particularly interested in being helpful, he's scattered and too focused on his experiments (thankfully less sharp, less inhumane than theo's, more about the nature of magic), and isolde was never especially a strong personality but has certainly deteriorated since the attack, so ronan's just been the only one focusing on it all), but those are a very different thing from... the sheer sneakiness and unfairness of a kidnapping, i guess. like he is a gryffindor, and there are some things —- sometimes you do what you have to, in war, but kidnapping a teenage girl (especially one like —- as frustrating as she can be, she's also still a face he knew every day? he remembers what she looked like at eleven?) is, idk, it's a factor, i guess. there’s a skewed sense of honour at play there, similar to how he made the choice to keep protecting eithne, to do anything to keep her alive, even if she’s technically dead —- ( i think for most of his life --- and probably at sorting, then --- he thought he was loyal to causes and groups first, because nothing made him doubt it? but now he knows he's loyal to people more than a cause, but even with that, he's loyal to the right person over the wrong one when it comes to the people he loves, like loyalty to eithne wins out over loyalty to theo, and i don't think it's that he loves her more than he loved his father, i think it's about... when it's between the people he loves, he can't choose there so then he goes to the next process, which in his head was maybe what his father would have called weakness but i think came down to... which was the right one to go with? even if he doesn't realise/wouldn't frame it that way? ) i also don’t think ronan realises the kidnapping not sitting right is due to that skewed version of honour (or i guess it's a straightforward honour type that's been skewed by the framing he was taught) or if he thinks it's another like... element of weakness? but i think he recognises it's different to the eithne situation, i just don't know if he's cognisant that it's like... idk, why it mattered that it was unfair? or if he recognises that it reminds him of what his father was doing, or if he's consciously not realising that/subconsciously avoiding it (even as he subconsciously is aware of it on some level, because it contributes to the feeling)? because a big aspect of how her taking sits with him is absolutely how it reminds him of what his father did, because that’s an awful thing to do to people, especially now that he’s more sure that vampires really are more like people, no matter what his father said, because he can see it in eithne, and then he thinks about it happening to eithne, and his mind sort of --- shuts it all down, in order to compartmentalise it, but it bleeds over, and it’s honestly a bit triggering for him, but i really don’t think he’s cognisant of that
he’s big on physical and duelling training, and has been seeking out a lot of stuff about that himself, and with thalia’s help. dada is probably his best subject, followed by transfiguration. fire & smoke, these are his areas, especially smoke —- the aftermath of a fire, the thing that fills a house burned to its bones, something deadlier than fire, even if it’s never shining as bright. he’s a hard worker, but it’s a learned behaviour more than it is inherent. a product of his childhood, really. he’s always loved history, but he’s not sure if he would if he’d discovered it by himself? as it was, his father taught him history, made him study it, and it’s part of the foundation of his life, but he doesn’t know what his relationship to history would look like if you took his father out. his fury is like his father’s too, odd as it may seem —- his father has always been cold, and there’s an inherent warmth to ronan, and fire does not burn in ice, but there’s something there, in how consuming it can be. theodore’s fury and hatred was all-consuming. i’m really hopeful that ronan’s won’t consume him —- that he won’t lose himself to it. he’s dedicated and determined, and absolutely resourceful. when he was sixteen and grieving and traumatised, he swallowed his bile and bucked up his courage and rooted around his father’s cellar, using everything at his disposal to try figure out what could be used to help eithne. he has a lot of secrets, a lot of things he keeps to himself out of necessity, and i think there’s something lonely in that sometimes. there are parts of himself he can’t share with anyone, not even his sister, so he has to swallow them down and hope they never escape. before it all, he was focused, but he always had a tendency towards quick retorts when his temper was stung and withering looks in classrooms. nowadays, he’s slightly more reticent, a bit more careful with his words, but there’s grief and rage that wasn’t there before, things from the last year and a half only, and they are a bleeding edge in his mouth, and sometimes they come out. he isn’t cruel for sport, and he isn’t one to go after people for entertainment, but he has never been much good at backing down when incited to a fight ( he’s learning—-or trying—-but it’s a hard habit to break ) and when he’s furious, he doesn’t much care about the destruction his words or actions could wreak. as long as it doesn’t hurt his sister.
character parallels: diego hargreeves, the umbrella academy — this bears explaining, probably. wrt theodore’s parenting style, there’s a general sense of parallel to the hargreeves, i think, in that theodore is cold and expectant, and isolde is nurturing, if not a particularly strong personality. diego comes into play in a few ways: at his core, diego adores his mother and is immensely protective of his siblings, even if sometimes he’s an asshole —- that’s pretty solidly ronan wrt isolde & especially eithne; there’s the physicality, the fighting ability, which ronan and diego both share; and, although he’s not there yet, eventually ronan’s mindset regarding his father will shift to something closer to diego’s. right now it’s closer to luther’s, as a product of emotional abuse and desperately craving his father’s love, approval & pride, but it’s something he’s been grappling with since the night eithne turned, and eventually resentment will win out over guilt, and recognition over that blind love. i just hope he doesn’t lose himself in it. i think ronan will always love his father—-even if he shouldn’t, i think it’s too entrenched in part of him to ever shake out completely—-but i think he’s certainly coming to a time where, while he might eventually forgive him (he also might not—-i’m genuinely unsure here), he’ll never be able to buy into him or endorse him again. it’s a pretty shattering realisation he’s coming to, because theodore was his hero, undeserving of the title as he may be, but it is one that is coming nonetheless. ; bellamy blake (the 100) — his love for octavia is the big thing, but i think there’s also something to be said for how emotionally ruled he can be, and how he makes bad decision after bad decision (in season one) but his motivations are always understandable and his heart is in the right place --- and when he chooses to lead, he leads. [ murder tw ]there’s also a line in the novel when bellamy catches his mother, aurora, trying to suffocate octavia, and he stops her, but aurora says like... ‘you can have a sister or a mother. you can’t have both.’ and that’s also pretty fitting with this dichotomy of theodore and eithne --- he can live up to his father’s expectations, or he can believe in his sister’s humanity, but the two are mutually exclusive [ end tw ] ; rhys (seven black diamonds) — again, rhys is notable for his protection of his sister, but he’s also a supreme soldier. he’s the best fighter other than maybe his mother (whom he is also v protective of), and family and duty mean everything to him, and it’s an interesting conflict when those two things begin to contradict each other.

❧ you’re absolutely fucking GOLDEN and i cannot wait to see who you BECOME ❧
❝ I met a girl like sunshine and lightning. Now suddenly, I’m an optimist. ❞ SOFIA CARSON? No, that’s actually LUCY WEASLEY. A SEVENTH YEAR student, this HUFFLEPUFF student is sided with MCGONAGALL’S ARMY. SHE identifies as a CIS-WOMAN and is a HALF-BLOOD who is known to be UNAMBITIOUS, BLASÉ, and IMPRACTICAL but also COMPASSIONATE, CONFIDENT, and LOYAL. { JANE, 22, NZT, SHE/HER }
make way for the chaotic horny!
resident unambitious, impractical sunshine girl, but compassionate, loyal, and always up for shenanigans!
her pinterest can be found here !!
there are so many exclamation marks so far but honestly that’s on brand for lucy’s energy
she’s adopted! same age as molly (she’s a sag, so she’s already eighteen, merlin almighty) and same dorm too —- even though they’re not actually, just bc of the adopted thing, lucy absolutely considers them twins in spirit and she loves molly more than anything in the world
they’re the same age but like.... honestly lucy always thought of molly as who she’d want to be when she grew up lmao? it’s just, well, they both want to help people, but frankly, molly is much better at it. she’s just..... much more practical and skilled asdfghjkl
that said, lucy’s pretty confident in who she is. sure, she absolutely admires the hell out of her friends and relatives — thinks all their skills are ah-maz-ing and wishes she had some of their practicality and competence — but she knows who she is and she’s happy in that. she’ll always love & think the world of her family and friends but she really is secure in who she is too. it makes sense to her that people like lily and james are better at this new world than her. it’s not thinking less of herself, it’s just —- practically, she’s utterly useless for practicality, and that’s. not ideal in war but overall, it’s okay, like, she’s Okay, that’s just how it is, she’ll just blithely stomp on someone in heels, you know? i think it’s good, though, like even though she’s useless at so many things, she’s so sure in who she is —- i think it’s something her friends and family can anchor to and rely on, even if she doesn’t realise it. like, whatever else, lucy is absolutely ridiculous but she’s unwavering in that and herself and her love for all of them
lucy absolutely loves a good wind up & takes great pleasure in teasing her father and uncles. she loves her dad though until the absolute end —- looooooves him. her dad can be pompous, and he’s a stickler for rules and he can be boring and uppity and sometimes he’s too snooty and she wants to whack him up the head, and she teases him for being silly all the time, but he’s good, underneath it all. she’s absolutely nothing like him and she puts very little stock in bravery ( like, it’s cool, but — whatever? she’s grown up with brave people all her life, and she loves them, but not bc they’re brave? ) but she thinks sometimes people forget there are lots of different kinds of bravery and ok sure her dad didn’t face voldemort like uncle harry did nor face those giant spiders when he was small like uncle ron did ( someone else in her family would probably know what they’re called and all the other unnecessary information about them but lucy’s never been especially interested in magical creatures, frankly ) but for someone ambitious, someone who needs to be right, someone who has pride in himself, one of the bravest things he can do—one of the best testaments to his character—is being able to swallow that pride and admit to being wrong. and he does that sometimes, she’s seen him do that, and she loves him fiercely for it. lucy knows her dad is considered the boring one, of the assorted uncles, but she doesn’t care—she loves him fiercely and she takes a lot of her importance of family from him.
still, even though she loves him, she’s absolutely nothing like him except for the family importance situation. like, she’s so unambitious that it quite possibly physically hurts him. she handles it by just blithely ignoring it and kissing him on the cheek and just teasing him until he gets worked up and she ends up laughing and her mother yells something about cholesterol from the living room. she loves him to death but she’s not going to change just bc… she’s not like him? she wouldn’t have the slightest idea where to start. she knows he loves her, and she loves him, and that’s enough for her. lucy is lucky to have the cheerful irreverence and blithe willpower to just sort of ignore her dad and laugh everything off when necessary.
that said, he’s so pompous and it’s so funny. lucy 100% takes more after her mother, who’s more creative (kimberly and i are still discussing what she does for a job but we know it’s going to be creative or social justice oriented and v much non ministry), but she’s always gotten along great with her uncles bc they’re so down for a wind up, just like she is
she’s… not practical. like, she’s so impractical. she loves loves loves helping people because she loves people in general but, frankly, she’s not always very effective about it bc she’s just not a practical person. she tries though, she really does. it doesn’t always go her way, but her heart is always in the right place
i mean she’s genuinely nice?? she never really tries to be good and she’s not particularly polite, but she just really likes people and it manifests in genuine compassion and infectious laughter. she’ll also talk to and flirt with anyone. wish i was joking. but yeah like re: niceness, she’s not always, like, polite and she teases and stuff, but she has a good heart and honestly probably doesn’t have a mean bone in her body
she’s going to be incredibly stoked and also startled if she passes her n.e.w.t.s and is probably 35% of the way to albus having a stroke
she takes charms, herbology and divination because she’s actually pretty decent at those and has fun, and someone talked her into sticking with dada so she had a back up so she didn’t end up with only two n.e.w.t.s if she didn’t pass, and it has worked out somewhat in that she has slightly more defensive skill than she would have if not, but she really needs to refocus in that class (or just when people are teaching skills in the m.a.) because at this point, her best plan for attack/defense/fighting is to stomp on people in her scary heels
sofia carson isn’t particularly tall but lucy’s like 5′10″
has the most mad ideas and just. goes with it. absolute blithe confidence and good humour, decides to try turn the black lake into a beach or something. a fair knack for getting people to come along with her, especially because even some of the more exasperated and reasonable people she knows often end up coming along just to try stop it from reaching the absolute heights of madness, bc they know she’s quite hard to deter
she never means to cause trouble, not really, but it’s the obvious consequence of her ideas that she doesn’t think through
loves matchmaking and loves love
not so much for herself though —- she’s absolutely not opposed, but she’s a chaotic horny and while generally likeable and she likes people, very much so, she’s never been in a long-term relationship, though she’s been on bunches of dates
would absolutely play fmk in her dorm and give only professors as options
nsfw tw // would rather fuck shrek than kylo ren // end tw
lucy’s just... honestly, all heart. she’s far from the most practical, knowledgeable or pragmatic, and she’ll drive you up the wall even as she has you laughing fondly, but she loves with all she has and she’s generous and gives freely, and she’s loyal and will always have your back, even if her skills aren’t helpful... she’ll always be there with you
death, grief, loss, war tw // war is hard. it is. no matter who you are. but with something like this, where it’s touched her loved ones, it’s inescapable. honestly, lucy feels kind of helpless. she adores her entire family, and uncle harry was always someone who never made her feel silly for who she was. not that it would have been an easy thing to do with her blasé approach to life, or that any of her relatives would intentionally try that anyway, but uncle harry has always felt like warmth, quiet love, and making space for others without them having to fight for it. and him being gone is something lucy doesn’t know how to deal with. for the most part, she’s excellent at separating things from her personal life, which is sort of how she’s approaching the fact that their school administration is taking away personal freedoms, and showing their bias, with a fairly blithe attitude for the most part, but harry and minerva and kingsley are too close to home. she can’t separate those, and honestly, she’s not sure she’d want to. it might feel like a disservice, and feeling things is the one thing she knows she can do for them, capably. it makes her blood boil, as much as her blood can, because how dare they take away such good from the world? how dare they take them away from their families, the people who love them? and she’s scared, when she stops to think about it, but truthfully, she doesn’t think about that too much. not for herself, exactly, but the people she loves. being scared is a new experience for her, but it’s not something that stops her —- she’d still step out into a fight, which is frankly just an awful idea, she’d be no help whatsoever, but she just can’t bear the idea of someone she loves stepping out alone, so she’ll always be with them. silly, scattered, flighty and blithe as she may be, impractical to a fault, but her heart’s in the right place. the biggest impact of harry’s death is that she’s just sad about it. her grief isn’t a fiery rage, as much as the injustice of it rankles her. it’s just a loss that isn’t sure how to build something back up in a world without such a huge part present. but lucy’s always been someone with more mad ideas than sense, and a heart full of love and light, and a knack for making others laugh because she herself is so often laughing, and maybe that’s all she can do now. just be herself, and hope that alleviates things for some people. // end tw
her music taste is weird
or like
not weird, just there’s no real theme or specifications to it except that it’s got a beat that makes her feel alive
the easiest way to encapsulate it is to probably say her ideal playlist is one that you can sing along to at the top of your lungs while driving down a highway with the windows down and wind streaming through your hair & dance in your seat to
THIS SONG is a example of what i mean (i think she’d be down with the message too, like, a song abt loving a city? fuck yeah, nothing’s soulless! but the real draw of it is that it’s something she’d enjoy singing along to on a road trip. something PUMPY. you know what else is on this playlist? fuckin’ all star by smashmouth. hips don’t lie by shakira. 4ever by the veronicas. money by 5sos. life is a highway by rascal flatts. the fuckin’ jo bros. we’re living large here people)
character parallels: janet van dyne / the wasp ( bubbly, chatty, loyal, friendly socialite turned fashion designer turned superhero — marvel 616. ) ; cleo sertori ( sunshine ditz extraordinaire — h2o just add water. ) ; simone ( flaky, irresponsible, bright hearted, confident, i think she’s a model & will sleep with anyone (see caption) — the wrong girl. ) ; evie grimhilde ( fashion designer who loves making people over, true love, has chemistry with everybody & stomps on someone’s foot as a legitimate tactic when swordfighting — the descendants. ) ; thor odinson ( confident, good-hearted, unambitious, sometimes thoughtless or careless, doesn’t know who kevin bacon is & would hug the hulk — mcu. ) ; chelsea parker ( flirty, ditzy, outrageous, silly, usually says whatever she’s thinking & would make out with someone/flirt as a distraction for shenanigans and escapades — st trinians. )

❧ you say wicked like it’s something bad, but you still can’t help but watch me do it ❧
❝ I dream nights and girls like tigers, claws and teeth on both. ❞ LULU ANTARIKSA? No, that’s actually IPHIGENIA ‘GENIE’ ROWLE. A SEVENTH YEAR student, this SLYTHERIN student is sided with THE DEATH EATERS. SHE identifies as CIS WOMAN and is a PURE BLOOD who is known to be PETTY, VINDICTIVE, and UNSCRUPULOUS but also VIVACIOUS, CREATIVE, and PERCEPTIVE. { JANE, TWENTY TWO, NZT, SHE/HER }
here comes the demon
meet genie rowle, daughter of cadfael rowle and deianeira urquhart
in greek mythology, iphigenia is the daughter agamemnon offers in sacrifice —- this iphigenia has no intention of being anyone’s sacrifice, but she’s not opposed to the idea of anyone sacrificing themselves for her
the urquharts have like... this thing of naming themselves after greek mythological figures, but like, exclusively ones with a tragic ending
which.... ya they don’t unpack that fdshjksahj
an actual conversation cadfael & deianeira probably had abt naming genie: cadfael: how about ariadne— deianeira: too happy of an ending cadfael: she got left behind on an island by the man she betrayed her family for deianeira: what’s your point
anyway the rowles go for Welsh™ names usually but cadfael’s whole generation sorta just went fuck that and took other naming traditions, resulting in lo and wes having largely normal names, and then genie’s branch deciding to take her mother’s naming traditions (weird as they may be) & also there’s another branch that married a cornish pureblood and went exclusively w hectic cornish names
probably an only child, though it’s possible genie’s mother is her father’s second wife, and there could be an older half brother (would probably need to be younger than lo, though, who’s 24, and definitely younger than wes, 26) running around, but he’d need to be #Committed to the DE life —- we already have one rowle risking it all as a double agent, and this family (esp genie’s branch) is Too Extra™ to have multiple
genie is spoilt, petty, vindictive and has... pretty much no moral qualms. she’s generous, though, with her friends, and fiercely loyal to her family.
when she was younger, she had a... rebellious streak might be too generous a term, because no part of her ever felt any inclination to contend with her privileged position, but there was a certain freedom to her position in the family, the youngest of the cousins and a girl —- whereas all eyes were on wes, the heir, the truth, genie was allowed to run a little more wild. nothing not befitting a rowle, of course, for that would not do, but she had more freedom to act as she pleased, to say whatever she liked, to keep her running muttered commentary going during the galas, to suggest wicked plots for her own amusement. genie rowle was always unconcerned with what was fair or right, but she was fun and clever and wicked funny, and was willing to put all her devilish tactics to the good use of entertaining a friend when the fancy took her. children are often vaguely terrible, and these privileged purebloods more than most —- genie was far from an exception, and when she was your friend, she was easy to love for it
hogwarts, though, that’s where the naughtiness thrives
slytherin through and through —- not necessarily a bad thing, but on genie, this looks like the worst thing
most frequently can be found alongside gemma gamp ( g&g! ), her partner in crime, and the rest of the mean girl gang: odilia travers, sarah’s-tbd, maddison bulstrode & leonie-tbd. also often fucking around w people
bullying tw // luvs psychological warfare and the ‘hot & cold’ method, which is what she uses against ppl like isa weasley: flusters her w her presence and prettiness & then calls her by the wrong name and says undermining things to first turn her on and then remind her how meaningless she is! ( viv vc: fuck OFF leave isa ALONE // james vc: ??? constantly amazed by how wrong some ppl are // katya vc: ah, bullying. something new and exciting from my dormmates ) // end tw
but also just. is mean. hot n cold is one fun way 4 her to garner entertainment from ppl but rly, whatever takes her fancy is how she’ll go for it
usually it’s just for fun bc she gets a kick out of it but! she’s coming 4 u annie delacour-bardon for thinking u can move in on gemma’s territory! who cares if gemma didn’t want scor anymore, obvs nobody else could have him either
also she’s part of the DEs, so her various talents are available for their use —- while she is not a leader, she’s part of the same crew as all the current leaders, which suits her perfectly, tbh? she doesn’t want to be a leader... but she does love the clout that comes with being close to them & also using her position to push people to do things to ‘prove themselves’ without them rly having a chance to push her back (ofc, they’re welcome to —- it’s just a) easy for her to prove herself bc like... she doesn’t care abt the well-being of some mudbloods lol and b) given that she’s so tight with the leaders, pushing her to ‘prove herself’ in response to her suggesting you ought to is more likely to cast aspersions on your trustworthiness than hers)
just like wes, prefers getting other people to do her dirty work for her... she’ll do all the psychological stuff and bullying for sure, but she’s less inclined towards physical violence or anything or the like —- that’s more odilia’s or sarah-tbd’s domain? also even just minor things, she likes getting other people to do things for her, it’s a power thing (not her girls — well, maybe maddison — but like... weaker people DFJHSJH)
anyway she’s the fucking worst
the mean girls r demons!
death tw // the rowles are pretty hardcore —- wes and lo are (currently unbeknownst to wes) locked in a war that. well wes is a DE and lo is doublecrossing the DEs so! anyway either lo survives the war w/o being found out or wes is gonna organise her murder when he finds out and he’ll do it by playing the long game, pretending to her face that they’re still fine, all the while plotting her death. SO. that’s one half of genie’s fam! // end tw
the other half are the urquharts, who’re known for obtaining objects for the underground market, particularly historical wixen artefacts. traditionally, the eldest male has been the ‘face’ of the family, being respectable in public and also being the one who handles transactions and makes deals and sells off their findings or obtains requests for them. either a secondary branch or a younger sibling has traditionally been the head of expeditions, sent all around the world to uncover these things for this illegal trade. crime & curse breaking, therefore, have always run in the family.
her uncle, orpheus urquhart, was recently violently attacked (he’s a DE supporter/benefactor in terms of bankrolling things so like.... he’s gross!) & catch her in the lockdown being both outraged ppl would have the audacity to attack him and have room in her naughty self to be absolutely awful to poor yuri
she’s pan w/ a pref for girls, but rly anything goes. uses sex and associated affections for two main purposes, enjoyment & manipulation
nsfw // genie vc: my pussy is a power move // end nsfw
i imagine she primarily considers the mean girls her friends now, but certainly when she was younger, going back to that paragraph i wrote above, there’s like... more room for camaraderie? like w charles, they were friends when they were younger and now... both slythersevenths but she’s a demon! so there’s room for that kind of thing, and also ya sexual situations, and genie is always down to have fucked w someone, which could absolutely be emotionally —- she’s definitely the type to use sympathy/affection/gestures associated w humanity to like... manipulate people
just. the worst
no wonder violet wants to punch her
tragically is the safest / has best chance of survvial & well-being of all my characters, which is so cursed
calls al potter “daddy” bc obvs she doesn’t consider him a viable sexual prospect ( genie vc: he acts like a 90yo man and isn’t even as rich as one??? pass, so boring ) but it makes him way more uncomfortable than it bothers her to think of him as a sexual prospect, so! prime time 4 her
she’s basically awful to everyone the rest of my characters love w their whole hearts, and then she only cares abt the ones they don’t like
she does have this like... not caring exactly but for people like charles, who was her friend once, and the other slythersevenths she considers part of their crowd (esp seeing as the girls hung out w the slytherin sports boys before gemma/scor broke up), there’s a sense of almost. possessiveness? like, she’s not nice to them, but they’re largely hers to fuck with... so watch her be a total demon to vi when varlie happens
anyway i have to be up in 6 hrs so! this will have 2 be enough, sorry abt her, she’s a demon, but i hope she can be helpful 4 plots alongside her other demon besties

❧ that girl’s got whiskey kisses in her bloodstream and she wields them like a knife ❧
❝ She was a wild, wicked slip of a girl. She burned too brightly for this world. ❞ MARÍA GABRIELA DE FARÍA? No, that’s actually AURORA BLACK. Only NINETEEN years old, this GRYFFINDOR alumni works as a MAGIZOOLOGIST (XXXXX FOCUS) and is sided with THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. SHE identifies as A CIS-WOMAN and is a HALFBLOOD who is known to be TEMPESTUOUS, BRAZEN, and RECKLESS but also PASSIONATE, EMPATHETIC, and UNFLINCHING. { JANE, TWENTY-TWO, NZT, SHE/HER }
hello this is rory and she is,,, a gryffindor™
her pinterest is HERE
first things first, she’s a twin. that’s the absolute first thing rory wants you to know about her. she’s an individual too, sure, but she came to this earth with leo and she cannot fathom the idea of ever having to be without. he’s her best friend, her brother, her other half, and she wants nothing but the best for him
incest tw (to do with the blacks, not rory) // sirius is not, biologically, a black. walburga and orion, likely due to their family’s inbreeding and their being related, struggled to conceive but were under immense pressure to provide an heir. they ended up passing off the baby of another pureblood family (a good one, of course —- not that they would ever deign to sully their name with the spawn of some blood traitor filth, merlin forbid) as their own: sirius orion black. it was a two-fold sort of situation for sirius —- when he began rebelling and finally ran away, walburga privately blamed his lack of biological connection on why he went astray, and possibly even in the last few years before it, shouting the truth at him at some point because she can’t imagine a worse insult than not being a black / is so furious that she wants him to know he is Not a Black, Not Good Enough to be like them anymore. if he did know, in some ways, it was a blessing, because he was able to say “i’m Nothing like them, literally” but also a space for Insecurity (given that he has a very complicated relationship in ootp with black family stuff, like he Hates it but he gets self-deprecating at points --- and ootp isn’t canon here, but his attitude and emotions still exist). ------ anyway, that’s just spitballing, saz and i haven’t settled yet on whether he knows (honestly, as much as i can imagine walburga shouting that at him as an insult, it’s also something that i’m not sure how much sirius would believe / if she’d ever actually shout it, bc it’s her private shame that would reveal --- but the point is, he’s not biologically related and she privately would have blamed that for his estrangement & it’s a complicated situation) // end tw
rory and leo were born out of a one-night stand between sirius & mary macdonald, someone he used to know --- reconnection and shared grief and alcohol led to a one-night thing. neither of them were prepared to be parents --- neither of them wanted to be parents. as it was, mary didn’t even want to be in the wizarding world at all. all it had ever done was take from her, and she needed space to grieve and to find out who she was outside of all that loss. and so after the twins were born, they stayed with sirius, and mary left. sirius wasn’t equipped to be a parent either, but at least he had a support system in place --- harry, the weasleys, andromeda, the order --- everyone invested in him & trying to help raise the twins
they grew up with the potters. with all the order & cohorts who used to know harry and co., really, but the potters are the main crowd. sirius black is her father, always, even if he is not necessarily the best one ( maybe in another life, but this man spent twelve years in azkaban and lost so many people he loved —- he loves his children, that is never in doubt, but sometimes he is more friend than father ), and she would never think of anyone else as her father --- but it cannot be denied that harry and ginny are parental figures, are better at discipline and responsibility and instilling values into them than sirius. she is sirius black’s daughter to her bones, but the hands of all those who helped raise her can be seen too
parental death tw // sirius passes in their fifth year. rory Does Not Take It Well // end tw
alcohol, violence tw // there’s more fights than usual. she’s always been impulsive, running on soul and spirit and sheer emotion, but now there’s a sharper edge to it, a more desperate streak in the seeking of a distraction. she drinks. she fucks. she’s always been tactile, always been flirty, never afraid of promiscuity —- and that doesn’t change in light of this, it just has a new motivation. she’s not looking for a distraction, exactly. she’s just desperately looking for any way to hold onto the feelings she had before, of fun and frivolity and being young, being free. she makes some choices she wouldn’t have under other circumstances, but they are her choices. she holds onto that. even if some days she cannot believe that’s what she did, she doesn’t regret them, exactly —- she wouldn’t repeat them again, she thinks, a year on and handling it a bit better, but they’re hers. // end tw
hogwarts... she loves her friends, but she’s not always great at classes. absolutely abysmal at potions and herbology, dropped them as quickly as she could. care of magical creatures is her only true passion, though she’s excellent at charms and pretty decent at dada & transfiguration, though she has to work harder at the last one. the rest of her subjects go less well, with some fairly atrocious grades in all her OWLs except those subjects and astronomy, which she has a complicated relationship with in her head, given her father’s family’s situation with stars. that’s always how she thinks of them. as her father’s family. it’s separate to what she knows of the blacks now —- herself & leo & teddy, her father & andromeda, even the malfoys. the blacks of old are a cold, unforgiving bunch, and they would hate her. that’s fine, rory thinks. she would hate them too —- and the blacks she knows, her family, built as it is of the last remnants of the estranged blacks, featuring friends and war-time comrades? they love her. and that is something to hold onto always.
she becomes a magizoologist when she leaves hogwarts. begins training, anyway. luna lovegood-scamander is her mentor, and rory loves her. they have different focuses, different fascinations—-rory’s got a dangerous streak a mile wide, courtesy of her father, and she loves the things that feel like freedom. xxxxx creatures —- dragons, manticores, any of them, all of them, they are what she fights for especially, but she loves all creatures. there’s a special space in her heart for them. and she’s happy. she misses her father desperately, and it’s bizarre not seeing her twin every day anymore, but he’s at the flat with so many of their friends, and when she’s around, she’s pretty much always there, and it feels like coming home.
death tw // then harry dies. kingsley dies, minerva dies, harry dies, and rory’s world is quaking again. she’s in this weird space of hope and bitterness right now. she’s had a tendency to... not exactly believe the best in people, she’s still sirius’ daughter, but she believes everyone is worth saving, and everyone has good in them. and now with everything that’s happened, she’s got anger in her too because it kind of feels like a slap in the face. like she believes this world is worth saving but it has the audacity to throw blows like that? she lost her father, and now she’s lost harry too. and she’s not even entirely sure to what extent she’s allowed to feel that grief somedays —- it’s not like they’re his kids, after all —- but that’s when her thoughts are getting too much for her. usually, all she knows are her feelings, and she knows that’s enough. she loves her father but... lbr sirius has some issues with his emotional maturity/how to process emotions (which like... his family and then Azkaban, it’s no wonder) and then the potters are so good at it and she’s ended up with this immense capacity like her father but it’s a lot of empathy, much more like harry, and she feels and acts on her emotions primarily (like potters in general) but she’s, uh, not great at understanding them/processing. she needs to talk things through to really get things straight in her head when it comes to her own emotions. but she’s good at instinctive and instinctual handling of emotions, she just gets caught out a bit when she tries to think about them. so it’s a lot, it always it is, but when she doesn’t get too in her own head, she can sit in it. and it hurts, it hurts, it hurts. but there’s resolve there too. she’s always been built of fire and laughter and empathy streaming from her in droves, even sharp as she can be from her father, and now it’s building itself into a dagger, a weapon, a danger. // end tw
tidbits bc this just got fuckin long and also kinda weird
aurora’s always been someone who prefers... not the background exactly bc that makes her sound like a wallflower but she’s happy not to be the brightest star. i think she’s warm and confident in a different way to her brother —- like if leo and james were doing something shenanigan-y in the centre of the common room during a party or something, she’s always ready to get involved and play her part but she doesn’t feel like she’s missing out if she’s sitting on the arm of the couch and drinking and watching and keeping a running commentary going
h8s all the lads. god. has totally pushed cas into a fountain before
would absolutely risk her life to save someone, even someone she hates and would totally not thank her for it and might even take advantage of it (like... those pesky lads!), and it’s a Terrible Thing in some ways (self-preservation ways) (also just... tactically speaking in war time) (leo is right to be like ?!?! at her for it)
maybe positive development for her looks like killing someone, we don’t know
her middle name marlena is after marlene, who was friends with both her parents, and leo’s is harry —- sirius wanted to save harry’s parents’ names for his use for his kids and, honestly, wanted to remember others who were in the fight too
quips when duelling smh
technically lives in a shitty bedsit but honestly spends most of her time when she’s in london at fulham flat
u know harry and ron to draco during the end of dh? when harry saves draco and then ron punches him in the face for being a lil asshole? rory is Both. she’ll save u but also break ur nose. duality of (wo)man
character tropes: undying loyalty ; action girl ; the heart ; the determinator ; chaotic good ; ethical slut // character parallels: brienne of tarth (asoiaf) ; daisy johnson (aos) ; sandrilene fa toren (the circle of magic) ; according to charactour, korra (tlok), leia (sw) & rey (sw), though honestly she’s a lot messier than any of them. verging on hawkguy!hawkeye levels of being a mess of a person, except unlike him, she’d never cheat on somebody lmao

❧ he was like the sun, burning with courage and light ❧
❝ Your body told me in a dream it’s never been afraid of anything. ❞ TOM MADEN? No, that’s actually JAMES SIRIUS POTTER. Only NINETEEN years old, this GRYFFINDOR alumni works as a CHASER FOR THE MONTROSE MAGPIES and is sided with THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. HE identifies as a CIS MAN and is a HALF-BLOOD who is known to be IMPULSIVE, EMOTIONAL, and QUIXOTIC but also COURAGEOUS, STEADFAST, and COMPASSIONATE. { JANE, TWENTY-TWO, NZT, SHE/HER } [ james is a donor-conceived child ]
james is, without a doubt, the most thoroughly decent of my lot
eldest of the three potters!! fuck yeah!! sibs 4 life!! potter kids against the world!!
lily is the fire, the inferno, blazing and burning and raging ; al is the guiding light, the lighthouse, looking out for all the ships in the night ; and james is the sun, golden and warm, trying to be steady in his light
(sort of telling, i suppose, about gryffindors that the two lions are the types of light that can burn you — one in a scorching moment, one from being too close for too long)
(or maybe that’s just james thinking — three people he loved, all gone in one night)
grief tw, parental death tw, death tw // harry died. minerva died. kingsley died. in one fell swoop. his father is dead, and all james can think is — he let him down. his father has always survived, has always fought for what mattered, has always taken care of james—had, he reminds himself, had—and when it came to it, james couldn’t protect him. maybe if james had been something better and braver and more important, like an auror, or something, anything, anything but what he is, maybe he could have saved him. ( and sometimes james wishes desperately that he was better—not to be the best or anything, but just to be good enough to save them for once. ) the world has always wanted pieces of them, these children of war heroes, even if the war wasn’t really a war, even if his father stopped it before it could be — his father was still a hero, and it mattered, being the chosen one’s children, even if it shouldn’t have. and james has always walked that line, not naturally responsible, but something steady in his chest, with light in his laugh and teasing smirks and cheeky quips and a playful disposition, but that sense — in the quiet moments between breaths, or when the night is cold and they’re the last few people awake under the light of the moon and stars — of looking out for his siblings, his family. it’s like: there is a difference between being responsible for and looking out for someone, and james has always felt the latter, but never has it been a heavy weight to bear until now. it is not responsibility burning at him, not really, because he trusts his loved ones to take care of themselves, he trusts them with everything, but that sense he should be doing more pulls at him. looking out for them has always come naturally, easy as breathing, and part of that was always in the assurance of his parents’ presence, of everyone’s presence — what couldn’t they do, as a family? what could possibly make the world spin fast enough that he couldn’t keep his balance? but the world is different now. it is missing its pillars. and for the first time, james isn’t sure how to look out for them. it’s not that he doesn’t trust them, because that hasn’t changed. it’s just that the world is an unfamiliar place now, one that took away three of the pillars that held up his sky, and he’s scared he won’t be able to bear the weight without their help. end grief tw, parental death tw, death tw //
oof that was a bunch
james used to be a gryffindor, captain & chaser / member of the art club, herbology club and comc club, but he was chronic for missing some meetings of all of them on occasion bc of quidditch duties and some detentions (he mostly made it, though, especially art club)
current resident of the fulham flat, along with fred weasley, arabella mcgonagall, quinn lacey, sage brown-patil and maddie macmillan-bones (?)
he is... too trusting
lmao
or like
he’s always trusted easily, and he’s not breaking the habit as quickly as he ought to in war time (plot op to fuck him up, ig // especially if you wanna make ezekiel gamp and kill two birds w one stone and be part of the ICONIQUE™ sibling duo w gemma gamp, pls @ ariull for more)
a lowkey chaotic, but good-natured
dog person extraordinaire (lily gave him a puppy for getting signed to a pro tam and he loves him w his whole heart. name is tbd but options in the flat have included: james 3, fred 3, pup, florida man, sir scooby doo the smartest, and james 2 until it was pointed out that james is actually already the second so it would be the third)
the flat has two goldfish named frozzle and grozzle
very big on fair play w quidditch
has flown over to charles in the middle of a match to angrily call him out on his players endangering people before
he’s signed with the montrose magpies and plays chaser — he did have interest from the appleby arrows and the caerphilly catapults, but the magpies are based in scotland and make it easier for him to just drop in on hogsmeade weekends
he visits hogwarts sometimes solely to see hagrid, and remembers to catch up with his family too
his favourite quidditch players are his mother, viktor krum and lucinda talkalot
the only potter kid you could reasonably accuse of being a romantic smh
also he and al are tall (esp al) and lily is tiny lmao
james is the friend who will thwart your drunken attempts at running across the road screaming FREEDOMMMMM
however, also the anti-mom friend who just says whatever the fuck he’s thinking when drunk, which can lead to impulsive ideas and unexpected directions and a lot of headaches for ara, who is trying her best to keep the flat alive, goddammit james, fred come back here, quinn oh my gOD, sage, please don’t teach any of them to pick locks—
needs to get better at believing or expecting the worst in people lmao
if you could mix his trustingness with lily’s lack of trust/suspicious nature, you might get a person well-equipped for life
things roll off him pretty easily in general, and he takes life with a lot of ease, but when something hurts his feelings, you can see it
just not great at hiding his emotions in general, tbh
me @ him always: u dumb fuck
actually rly good at transfiguration, could have one day been a prof in another life
v likely to eventually be a healer, either following a quidditch injury or something else
thank god quinn made him study well for his NEWTs huh
we stan a ravenclaw who breaks into gryffindor common room during study season
kinda feels like he should quit quidditch, like what is he doing still playing, he feels like it’s selfish and wrong of him, but roxanne has been yelling @ him to keep on track!!
ok i’mma stop here bc he’s a disaster sag and things will just keep rambling on if i don’t
4:23 am jane strikes again!!

❧ you’re like a wound in motion, running the risk over and over ❧
❝ Look me in the bullseye, in the laws I broke and the promises I didn’t. ❞ ZOEY DEUTCH? No, that’s actually KATERINA ‘KATYA’ WOOD-KRUM. A SEVENTH YEAR student, this SLYTHERIN student is sided with MCGONAGALL’S ARMY. SHE identifies as CIS WOMAN and is a HALF BLOOD who is known to be MOUTHY, STUBBORN, and REACTIVE but also DETERMINED, STRATEGIC, and ASSURED. { JANE, TWENTY TWO, NZT, SHE/HER }
hello this is katya
ma leader (strategy), slytherin, seventh year
has three siblings: alex, a ravenclaw alum / vera, gryffindor sixth / max, hufflepuff second
seeker at heart, but currently playing as slytherin beater
she plans to play professionally like both her fathers, and is the only one of her siblings to continue playing quidditch this long — throughout her playing career, she’s spent several years training in every position. part of it is to improve her versatility as a player, but a lot of it is for strategy as well — the best way to understand the scope and capacities for all of the positions when sorting out team plays and the like, in her opinion, is to know it yourself, to know what one can reasonably expect, and to try approach the game from all positions’ perspective, which is easier to fall into if you’ve had significant experience in each position. one could certainly do it in theory without playing in each position, but katya has never been anything less than committed
one day, she’ll play as a seeker for either the magpies or the catapults (she considers puddlemere, because her father played for them, but she’s more inclined towards the magpies, because of scotland and their solid reputation, or the catapults, because players she grew up respecting played for them and, well, they’re certainly less esteemed than some of the other teams and she’s always had a bit of a soft spot for the underdog) and end up as their captain. her current goal is to one day play for bulgaria in the world cup, just like her papa.
she has a pinterest board, it is HERE
big believer in team dynamics
even if she disagrees w captain charles abt something, the important thing is to share that concern privately, not to try undermine him in front of the team — undermining the captain’s authority, in her opinion, is detrimental to the team dynamic. the best way to succeed is to be able to be a team — which is something she’s aware is going to become harder these days, with the war making the lines more stark. but you could be the best player in the world and if you can’t be a team player — if you can’t focus on making the team better rather than just yourself — you shouldn’t be on the team
takes after her papa, viktor, more than her dad, oliver
loves them both so much
but like her papa, she is fast, focused, strategic and determined, but she has her dad’s mouthiness and willingness to go toe-to-toe with anybody
slytherin has tempered her over the last six and a bit years
not that she’s like... changed her stances, or whatever, she’s always been steady in that
but living with this gang of slytherins, particularly the mean girl gang that makes up the majority of her dorm? she got better at dealing with them, because it was learn how to take some things and let them roll off you or to crack completely by fourth year, and katya does not crack
(that said, they can absolutely still get under her skin (especially w barbs against her family) — they just have to try harder to make them stick. she’s built up a bit of a tolerance/resistance to their bullshit after all of these years, but she’s not a saint, and they can absolutely push her if they try)
once broke her arm from a bludger when she was nine and still kept flying to catch the makeshift snitch, much to her papa’s annoyance (he called it, with exasperation, “stubborn”, but oliver was like “tenacious” smh i love oliver wood sm)
family friends w the changs via viktor and the gryffindor quidditch team families via oliver
played quidditch since she was a small but was never pressured to do so, nor expected —- she just really, truly loves the game sm
could probably do more to stop vera from trying to fly indoors
or into trees
she’ll support her family in all of their endeavours until the absolute end
which, when it comes to vera, often looks like trying to keep her alive but mostly being on board with any shenanigans that come about in order to practice broom racing, including going to bat for her against authority
doesn’t take well to suggestions of nepotism
not great with dealing with the press in general, actually not the sort of thing she has the most patience for. she doesn’t enjoy people beating around the bush or trying to bait her in their interview techniques
believes in her parents’ love story more than anything else
vera can absolutely not try match-make her though
awful
who has the energy for that
would pursue linguistics professionally if she wasn’t so dedicated to quidditch
one day, after she has to retire, will probably become a coach
always had a good eye for dynamics and team interplay, and she extends that to the m.a. and one day will to professional captaincy
doesn’t doubt herself: she knows calculated risks, and she knows herself, and she trusts herself to run the risk
big on fair play
not like... james, ig, who stops in the middle of a game to call out players endangering others, but. it’s like taking after viktor, she mostly plays nice (pushes hard and doesn’t pull punches, but. lmao lbr oliver is the more likely one of the two to encourage cheating or doing anything to win lmfao)
probably an aquarius or taurus?? i’mma hit up jinx and try sort it, i had like... three options in my head for her —- edit: can confirm she’s an aquarius!
it’s four am fuck ok i’mma just hop to bed but !! here we go. might edit more later but this is the gist ig
that gif up there btw is her losing patience w the press / quietly pulling some of her teammates back into order when charles is busy handling other things / reacting to classmates who are being Ridic™

hi hi everyone!! i’m jane & i’m rly excited to meet y’all! i’m twenty-two as of mid-december eeeee, living in nzt ( currently gmt + 13 ) & i really like colourful make up lmao
lucinda talkalot is NEUTRAL in the war, even though her official job is as CAERPHILLY CATAPULTS’ KEEPER. the TWENTY YEAR OLD HALFBLOOD is known to beDRIVEN and ASTUTE but also SELF-INTERESTED and RETICENT. some might label her as THE STRATEGIST.
domestic abuse, child abuse tw //
hi friends!!! okay so lucinda has a full bio here ( which i would defs read if you want to know about her history and stuff ) but i’ll do some quick points about her here now anyway!!
born jan 4, 1959 — a year above the marauders
succeeded steve laughalot for slytherin captaincy in 1975 ( her sixth year ) and was captain for two years, the second of which slytherin won the quidditch cup ( sixth year probably went to gryffindor?? idk — edit: i just changed these dates to reflect the change i made to her age; it’s a year off from canon, bc jinx and i basically decided to fuck around w canon lmao )
steve was a nightmare and she thought he was terrible and incompetent and wrote to emma vanity, steve’s predecessor, to vent and occasionally consider staging a coup. emma showed lucinda what a captain should be far more than steve ever did
a slytherin prefect but honestly that was probably because she was competent and showed leadership skill in her quidditch life, and didn’t break rules ( mostly bc she felt no need to ), not because she was especially keen to be responsible for anybody else
scouted by several teams, she went to caerphilly catapults, initially as a reserve but now as starting keeper
she’s quite strategic and observant so keeper suited her well; not only was she a last line of defence, but it kept her removed from the chaos of the pitch and able to observe and analyse what was going on around her ( and sometimes calling out plays and advice to her players )
welsh-puerto rican; fluent in english, spanish, welsh and is pretty good at german ( and good at latin though it’s not something she’d say she… speaks… )
very patient when it comes to long-term planning and dedicated enough to see something through; absolutely not patient when it comes to people she thinks are wasting her time
genuinely liable to just not have people on her radar, like — she takes note of people she thinks are relevant, and she probably knows who more than that are, she just doesn’t care
[ domestic abuse tw, child abuse tw, implied infidelity tw ] her uncle ( possible father; her familial situation’s a fucking mess ) is an absolute dick and rich but he’s a squib and Did Not Take Well to magic, even when it’s accidental, and he was older, and larger, and angrier, and she never forgot the way anger could feel when it coursed through something so much larger on its way to making its impact on you. It wasn’t frequent, exactly, but it was varied, and took several forms, but even the threat of it could overwhelm once you knew it was a possibility
she hated fear, and that drove her anger
she learned composure and control from a young age — not young enough to be able to tamp down on accidental magic immediately, but young enough to have control a fair bit before hogwarts. she also learned to control her reactions
( it’s only happened once since she was a kid, when she was “in the way” of him punching a wall, but she’s never learned to swallow the taste of hate in her mouth. she thinks he regrets the last time — when she was a kid, she couldn’t fight back in any way. last time, she was a teenager, and she spewed vitriol at him and she thinks that made it real. she thinks that made him ashamed. she does not care for his shame. it does not change the fury affixed in her veins. ) [ end abuse tw ]
that’s part of why she loves quidditch so much ??? it’s something she’s good at and it was her ticket out of relying on her uncle like her parents did ( her dad was a wizard, which gave the two brothers a bit of a rivalry, but it meant he never worked for anything particularly ?? he lacked common sense and he knew how great his life was compared to his brother’s, but then his brother actually worked and was successful so when lucinda’s ostensible father showed back up in wales with a new wife, it wasn’t long until he had lost all his money and they had to move in with her uncle, who gave her father a job. meanwhile, lucinda’s mother has always been more attracted to drive, so… lucinda is very unsure which is her father, but she thinks they’re both terrible in different ways, so neither is a particularly good option ) [ end infidelity tw ]
and also, on a base level, the very first time she flew on a broom, it was the first time she felt a sense of power. no matter how much bigger or stronger you were, how much angrier or the size of your fists, you couldn’t catch her on the broom. no matter how old she gets, or if her limbs fail, quidditch will never be anything less than it is: graceful and beautiful and analytical, where you can feel the wind rushing through your hair as you move faster on a broom, so fast that nobody can catch you.
but yeah!! she’s not very patient with people and she will always look out for herself bc her whole childhood was learning that nobody else would do that for you and she hates dependence ( and also subjugation — she hates the idea of house elf ownership, because living creatures deserve agency ), but there is a small circle of people she is dedicated to, and she’d go to bat for them any day
she’s very blunt and doesn’t pull punches and honestly like ??? can absolutely be awful but she has a lot of reasons for the way she is and she doesn’t actively try to hurt people — she just simply doesn’t care enough to pull punches for most of them
she’s also neutral bc she’s a halfblood — if not, she’d probably support death eaters but, having been at a physical disadvantage her entire life against her main opponent, she’s never been one to settle for anything that puts her at an inherent disadvantage, let alone support something that does
she has no interest in fighting for the order, though, bc she doesn’t feel any need to stick herself out on the line for the fight, let alone total strangers. she fights for herself and her very small circle. there aren’t ideals, in her opinion, worth laying down her life for
anyway my girl’s a bit Much sometimes but !! if anyone wants to plot or thread w her plssss lmk <333 i’d especially love to talk to anyone who played quidditch at school when she did, especially those in her year or in the slytherin team, mostly bc i loooove quidditch dynamics + if anyone still plays quidditch or is a commentator, reporter or fan, i’d love to plot with you!! also people who were prefects with her… and i’d love to plat with everyone anyway haha bc all of these characters are great and i’m living for them tbh ( i am so unhelpful but i loooove them all ok )
#maraudrs:intro#i... reused an intro and just added a line abt emma in there fdskjfdshjfsh#and changed my age bc it's been a year since LOL

I don't know if anyone cares about Limitless anymore (the TV show, not the movie) with Brian but the brain rot of letting Brian really get a chance to be an adult in the situation with two morally questionable (as kids/teenagers often are) young adults who kind of just bite off more than they can chew—
Just these three people who communicate their ideas in ways that aren't normal and sort begrudgingly becoming a family??
Coupled with that normal teenager cockiness with just disappointment when you're proven right because Gifted Geniuses on NZT getting gassed up while getting no support from teachers, then just getting curious and caught up in the game until they accidentally open Pandora's box???
Rebecca instead of dealing with Brian's good-natured sort of projects/chaotic good apologize later approach now having to deal with these two chaotic neutral malicious compliance monsters (affectionate) who will figure out what's going on and after getting interrupted by Boyle or Naz not say a damn thing to anyone but Brian (eventually her after they warm up) and getting so frustrated by it?
The effects of addiction on younger minds that are already reeling from what brought them into requesting to be labrats for the FBI??
Oh, them being codependent on each other because they're the only ones that get it, the only other person who understands? Just fucking—
The elysium of rats as a title. Or unlimited.
We've seen Brian's brain start to have brief flashes of that clarity—is it Clarity in the meta cognitive sense where thoughts flow and you get into a flow state or is it your brain getting rewired to the point of no return?
What would happen if you combined that with a young brain's plasticity?
I just have a lot of feelings about it and the things to explore.

I can't think of any woman that looked so sexy giving a wink. But Hikaru pulls it off. She also looks hot as fuck in black.
-
I hate that every season I have to have my medicine adjusted because the seasons effect my condition. I wish there was something like NZT. It could just be a perfect anti-depressant and anxiotic. Without the intellect boosting abilities and I would be happy.
Wishes of course never get answered.
All I can do is roll with the punches like I've always had.
Still find the fact that Hikaru almost burned tofu funny as hell. I can only imagine what a disaster it would be having her cook all the time. But who am I to talk, I've made home made biscuits that can bounce off the floor. Burnt eggs. Set fire to a toaster oven trying to cook something. She can at least make an edible meal.
-
I still have feelings for her but I'm working on it. Cause it does me no good having such feelings. I think I will work on the sequel to Echoes of The West. Distract myself from thoughts of her.

❧ quip fast — ( try NOT to ) die young ❧
VIVIENNE CHANG really is the spitting image of CHLOE BENNET, right? For someone only TWENTY-ONE years old, VIVI has been forced to endure so much. Yeah, that HALFBLOOD has been scraping by at the sanctuary for ONE MONTH now, working as a WEAPONS RUNNER in the DIVISION OF FORAGE. SHE identifies as CIS-FEMALE and is known to be RECKLESS and IMPATIENT but also DARING and UNSTOPPABLE. Best of luck surviving through this. ⊰ JANE, TWENTY-ONE, NZT, SHE/HER ⊱

ABOUT A STORM.
before the outbreak !
okay so this is vivienne! mostly goes by vivi or viv-—her name is entirely the fault of her mother, who always liked pretty things
her father, weisheng, was cho’s elder brother, and her mother, ella, was a muggle—-lighthearted, but a bit flighty
her mother wanted fun, and adventure, and to see the lights of the world, and the stars, and while she loved her daughter, she didn’t want her lifestyle to change
weisheng was better at it than ella, mostly in that he was cognisant of the divide between taking care of their daughter and the lifestyle they had led together up until that point, but he loved discovering new places and new things too
this wasn’t inherently a problem: many families bring up their children in travelling homes, full of new locations and experiences, and it works perfectly well
it was just, their world was made up of exciting exploring of historical finds during the day, and champagne and roaming the city at night, and both of those were difficult with a three year old tagging along ( at least, when you didn’t want to inconvenience yourself to accommodate her )
and so, they started leaving her behind with her aunt and uncle and cousin TBD, because, her parents figured, they have roots down, they’re already taking care of a child—-what’s one more?
she’d still get to go with them sometimes, but they started leaving her behind on their smaller, jauntier ones, and as she got a bit older ( but not quite old enough ), they started leaving her behind on the bigger ones too. she’s had entire years where she hasn’t seen them once, and when she does see them, it’s never for very long, and it’s never very meaningful. it’s sort of that feeling you get when an aunt you haven’t seen in a couple of years comes to visit for a week and brings you presents and marvels at how big you’ve gotten—-except her father was always better at that sort of observation than her mother, and anyway, you weren’t meant to have that feeling about your parents, right?
part of it was just about how attentive cho was to TBD. not that she wasn’t attentive to vivienne—-she was, definitely, but it was different. for one, vivienne didn’t really give her that much to be attentive about. she didn’t want things as readily as TBD, and wouldn’t really have felt comfortable asking, anyway—-cho was more of a mother to her than ella was, but that didn’t mean vivienne was her daughter, and she’d already been raising vivienne for most of her life; that was asking enough, surely.
she’d inherited her parents’ love of adventure, which made it all the more frustrating to receive their postcards and occasional letters from all of these fun things they did with their life, and no invitations to join them
there was one year, the year before she turned eleven, where they took her around with them. it’s the one year she felt really close to her parents—-but then, they deposited her back with cho for her eleventh birthday ( except they were off, by three days, which vivienne thinks is a silly thing to feel stung about, but she’s never quite forgotten it ), and vivienne didn’t really think about why, not until she saw the hogwarts letter on the table that had been waiting for her for three days. she thought her parents might stick around, see their only daughter off to school, or at least help her get her stuff, but nah. she heard cho having a row about it with them, but honestly, she didn’t think it was worth it. like, if cho was mad about having to have dealt with her for all those years, then sure, be her guest, definitely call them out. but if it was about their bad parenting of vivi, well. she just didn’t think it was worth the argument. she’d known for a long time how her parents’ priorities shook out: fun, adventure, each other, new experiences, and then her. she’d accepted it. she loved her parents, and she always would, but that didn’t mean she always liked them very much, and it definitely didn’t mean she respected them. she was okay with that.
growing up, having not really wanted to ask for much, she’d spent most of her time trying to get her pent up energy out by running wild and playing with gracie when she wanted to, but otherwise, causing trouble by herself. the day she found cho’s old broom was the best. who cared if her mother was jetting across the world without her? vivienne could fly. she liked playing both beater and chaser, really enjoying the outlet which hitting things—predominantly a ball that cho had enchanted to chase her around—provided, but also loving the speed and intensity of the chasers’ job. the first time she watched a quidditch match, she was hooked on the chasers, not only with how fast they moved, but how in tandem they were. while she still appreciates the outlet which a beater’s bat can provide, she found herself a chaser on the gryffindor team during her hogwarts years, and she loved it, and the team.
she respected her aunt and uncle a lot, but she didn’t have much patience for authority figures in general, and she got in trouble a bunch, both growing up and in hogwarts. when she was younger. she’s pretty upfront, and she’s gotten a bit better with the recalcitrance issues (marginally), but she will still absolutely fight you if you insult cho chang or muggles to her. her aunt and uncle are the best fucking people in the world, aight
you know that pin/image that’s like “bye gotta study so i can be better than everybody i hate”?? very viv. she’s never been intrinsically motivated, but like? competition? that she can do. never cared about her grades until some time in first year when this kid was being a knob and she was like “i have to beat him at everything he cares about” and then the older she got, the more the list of people she wanted to show up grew LMAO her life was a mix of quidditch, detention, and working for academic success ( and parties lmao, just not really any clubs except the duelling club )
the outbreak !
viv, in her last year of hogwarts, was pretty torn about what she wanted to do. she considered working with dragons, or magizoology in general, or even working within the ministry in departments involving creatures ( she rejected that pretty quickly though; she didn’t have the temperament ) and, eventually, decided on curse breaking, which she has been training with and doing for the last few years
she had been in brighton with a few colleagues when the wards broke, sent by gringotts on her way back from rotterdam ( where there had been an actual discovery, and she had gone in to assess the situation and was meant to return to gringotts to give a preliminary report ) because a wix who hadn’t paid back her loan claimed it was because the gold was cursed and she couldn’t touch it. part of her wasn’t surprised: the ministry had fallen, after all, so it stood that eventually their world would too, but it was still like a punch to the gut.
the only one who’d gone to deal with the wix, viv spent several days trying to track down her colleagues, but only found one, soon to become prey to an inferius. she killed it with a broken chair and a well-judged thrust. soon after, she and pádraig went on the run. they didn’t really know where they were going—-they just knew they had to get out of there. they kept trying to find their families: pádraig, his wife and little girl; viv, her cousin grace.
viv took to picking up weapons, cycling through them and stealing a backpack from an abandoned store to keep some of the useful ones in. her wand was always there, and she was very skilled with it—she had to be, for her job—but she wasn’t always sure what magic would work on these ( she knew that some things did, but she wasn’t about to go through all of her repertoire to eliminate her options ), and there was something much more reassuring about having a beater’s bat—nicked from an abandoned home in a wizarding neighbourhood in Wiltshire—in her hand or spiked gloves on her fists
about four and a half months in, pádraig started acting strange. they were sort of travelling with a few others, but had been primarily sticking together. he’d been off on a weapons run, and he was just… not right when he came back. she didn’t get it, though, not until one of the girls screamed it at her: THEY GOT HIM. she didn’t want to believe it, not when he was there, looking at her, not when he was her friend, but it wasn’t the sort of thing anyone would lie about, and so she grabbed her bat and went for him.
parental death tw // she is so, so angry about this whole situation. augustus rookwood is a piece of shit, and because of him and his fucking cronies and their shitty beliefs, there is a kid out there without a dad, if rory’s even still alive. there are thousands of kids in that situation, and parents, and siblings, and innocent people who are stuck in hell because of that colossal bastard // end parental death tw
she heard about hogwarts somewhere along the way, and eventually figured—-that’s where her family would have gone, if they were around. cho had always gone back when called, and she knew cho’d take tristan there too. she hoped TBD was there.
she finally made it about a month ago, and it’s still sort of jarring. hogwarts was always a good home, but it wasn’t meant to have to be a permanent sort of sanctuary. she has absolutely no idea where her parents are, but she’s trying not to think about it. weisheng’s at least competent at magic, and could probably take care of ella, but—-survival was never their strengths, just living the luxurious and flighty life, and vivienne can’t think about them too much because she doesn’t want to reach one of the likelier conclusions
she’s always been fast, and she has a good eye for weapons—and a very adept method for breaking into Ridiculous Paranoid Wealthy Purebloods’ former houses, because of course some of them would leave their curses up in a zombie outbreak—which is why she’s useful as a weapons runner, but the other divisions she spends a lot of time in are protection, because of her previous profession and her experience with the such, and research, because a lot of her work had to do with the nature of spells and she’s seen historical and ancient magical locations from all around the world, which might be able to provide some insight, she’s not sure

When it comes to limitless? HOLY!! It was so good. I thought the series was gonna be an adaptation of the movie, and just stretch it out, Hva eit be about Eddie Morra again just for 22 episodes. Instead they say the series after the movie and even included Eddie Morra as a central part of the story! The concept is so cool, but that's not the best part. First of all, Brian Finch. My complain about the movie was that Eddie didn't seem like a convincing low life. They could drag Bradley Cooper through horse shit and he'd still look like a red carpet star, sorry. Brian however, looked just like a normal guy. He's got as fuck too, it's not that. But he definitely can pull off te loser look as well. And then him as a character. I disliked the 'I'll do anything but kill' concept of him cause it's such an old and boring trope but besides that he's such a likeable and funny character. No matter if he's on or off NZT you'll love him. He's not cocky, but he's confident when high, he has emotions and feelings. I didn't like the relationship with Piper simply because it wasn't believable and just seemed like a last minute solution to have a plot towards the ending. Rebecca Harris was never my favourite character, but I liked her most of the time, except when she was on NZT, then she was a real bitch. I liked that she and Brian had a platonic relationship. I liked Sands' development as a character and that we got to see him as a real person. Same with Mike and Ike (Darryl and Jason) though I was sure Ike was gay it was really good to see him be as human as he was around Rachel. I got real 'Suits' vibes from the series overall. Naz was just like Jessica, Brian obviously like Mike. Rebecca was nothing like Harvey though, I think that limitless would've been good had Boyle taken Rebecca's place too... or someone who had a shorter stick up their asses. Anyway, I'm bummed the series got cancelled, though atleast it didn't end with s cliffhanger or something. Almost too good an ending.
