life update: we found an apartment and managed to get our hands on it, yippee :D
#i try not to babble on this blog but i am desperate for connection and also want people who buy from me to know they do Good Things#as in everyone who has commissioned me is helping my family through one of the hardest things we have been through#i no longer need to have nightmares about being homeless by the end of the summer :')#sister is pissed at the moment because ... i dont even know and in the grand scheme im just happy to have found a home#she will hopefully come around#anyway i might delete this later cause it feels vulnerable but i also want to share my joy#especially with people who have actively helped us put food on the table in the midst of this chaos

I absolutely LOVE the Squirtle/Wartortle illustrations by kantaro in Pokemon 151!
The Squirtle jumping so joyfully from the rock into the ocean, the colors are STUNNING! I love the contrast of the Squirtle's aqua blue framed in the vivid orange sky, the soft bit of blue reflecting in its shell and its tail just catching the sun, how little and squishy its body looks as it launches itself towards the water with such tremendous excitement!
The lineless style of the background gives me the feel of a travel poster and I sense the tropical environment around it from the rocks and trees framing the corners, the waterfall splashing with as much energy as the Squirtle!
The layered blues on the surface of the water and the bubbles rising at the corner make me FEEL the liquid rising to meet the Squirtle--I can just feel how the next moment it's going to break through and be immersed in a cool island swim!
And the Wartortle running along the sunset beach, this is somehow everything I always imagined for Wartortle! I adore the way the rich purple melts into the warm red/orange sky, the matching purple clouds and shadows in the foreground, and how the dimming sunlight glows red on Wartortle's deep blues!
I love how the yellow and orange of the sky illuminate the lapping waves, I can just feel the gentle motion of the sea at dusk. The aqua color of the ocean matches Wartortle's ears and tail and sets off the red-orange sand, I just love how the colors are here!
Wartortle looks so round and squishy, I love its happiness as it goes frolicking through the shallows, chasing the bubbles caught in the setting sun! The shine and deep shadow on its shell give it an almost jewel texture like real tortoise shell; I love the silhouetted splash Wartortle leaves as it goes running across the shore. It's so full of energy and delight at the end of a gorgeous day! The colors in these are SO vivid and harmonized and the style is so cute and bursting with energy and joy. I just LOVE it (also Squirtle is my starter)
#pokemon#pokemon tcg#long post#i have deep affection for bulbasaur as well though and i also love the bulbasaur/ivysaur cards in this set#i SO wish we'd gotten art of the final evolutions in the same style as the pre-evos' standard cards!!#(yes i do love the full art ones but i also love the illustrations on the standard cards!)#from the way the settings in these two were going; i would have imagined blastoise to be set at night (??)#i LOVE pokemon cards. i can't keep up with every set but i started collecting again now and then a few years ago#and 151 has really got me wanting the full set the way i haven't since childhood. SO many beautiful illustrations (but there always are)#it's like having little pieces of art of my favorite characters and it's only.. slightly... less expensive than actually commissioning ....#i KNOW it's less expensive to buy the individuals online but it's so much less fun#part of the fun is having YOUR own pokemon journey ((going to the store)) and seeing what YOU encounter ((when you open the pack))#i do buy them online sometimes but i usually dont form as strong associations with them as when i open a pack in a certain setting or place#i tend to try to save them to open right before a significant event like starting something new or a holiday. so that i form associations#and it's like 'oh that's the galarian obstagoon from when my mom came home for christmas'#and 'that's the snorlax who reassured me when i was hurt'#i don't buy them too often so i've got to make it count#anyway i know i should wait for the prices on this one to come down because it's absolutely ridiculous#i didn't buy anything at release because i was like $6 for one booster pack??? but i couldn't take just sitting and watching them sell out#i really like the poster because i can look at so many beautiful pictures all together#i could say stuff like this about literally every pokemon illustration (if i had time to write it out) and sometimes i've wanted to#i just chose these two because these are a couple of my original favorite pokemon and i just couldn't keep it to myself. i LOVE these

at first i was thinking about oscars work with madam springs being in a secondary location from her bookstore but i think a cute idea would be putting the springs storefront in the same building as the bookshops...side by side store neighbors or something...

(shaking lime)#mochi: (sobbing) were gonna be homeless...#lime: will you relax for like 2 seconds please#little known mochi fact: shes always loaded with cash (normal human currency) but is constantly strapped for qoms (magic currency)#she cant help buying the cute little magic trinkets and potions every time she sees them#mochi wanting to cry every time she cant buy herself a cute little magic treat and instead has to put it toward rent#this is why lime doing m-34th jobs is such a benefit#because they pay him generously in money and any qoms he gets from commissions he gets to keep#not lime hoarding qoms the entire timeskip period so he could buy mochi things she actually wants when he sees her agian

maybe my concept of someone "working slowly" on a commission is just messed up 😂 for both artists and buyers, what would you mean by, or expect from, a vague "I will probably work slowly on this"?
#i feel like. 6-8 weeks is a slow and leisurely pace. surely?#most commissions i buy have a turnaround of 3-6 weeks and feature some updates and approval stages#it has been. 3.5 months and one update because i asked djdhfhr#i want the comm!! but ough i can't say i'm not regretting it#the wait i will endure to see estinio smooching.... 😔 pray 4 me#azia stuff

Hey guys so my family have been in a rough spot for a bit now (my dad needing to work three jobs just to try and be able to buy us dinner) and while me and my parents don’t have the best relationship I still want to help out where I can, which is why I’m asking for you guys to please buy a commission I currently have three options up with a pay what you want with the cheapest option available being three dollars. i need to commission more artists. i ONLY have ever bought from my friends and my max I've bought for myself in one year is like. three. because I worry so much about what to ask for and I don't feel like I deserve to treat myself and I heavily debate who to buy from and like oh god what if they hate me or (insert a thousand anxiety thoughts)

#asks#unfortunately the coveted job of “professional kittycat” is out of my reach :(#in an alternate timeline i got popular by writing cute cuddly kink stories and got rich off of patreon#alas. the kitty must work#but my mom bought donuts and is letting me have 1 for each job i apply to as motivation#it's working#definitely needed the motivation because i graduated in june and have spent 2 full months just chilling#not exactly eager to work#but my life will be better when i can buy a fursuit and magic cards and art commissions and skirts and donuts and a chastity cage and#okay but that list was actually kinda hard to make because i kinda already have everything i want#i have a computer an internet connection and a fuckload of games and that's like 90% of what i want#i would like to live in my own little house but that's a long ways away#i mainly just want to keep my free time but i can't mooch off of my parents forever#i need to either take the reins on my life or find someone who wants to adopt a nerdy kitty cat#and as fun as it sounds in fantasy the second option is far too risky irl without a fallback plan#risky both in terms of 'what if they're mean?' and 'what if i don't actually like it?'#so taking the reins it is#if i get lucky then i can make a lot of money and retire early and then just chill forever

#idk if ive rambled on about his art here yet#but its fucking gorgeous and i buy his artbooks so i can look at it forever#its exactly what i want to paint like#even when his stuff was only okay during early TG his colors were still gorgeous#its only gotten better as he has refined his skills#just comparing the fronts of the first TG artbook with :re is a giant step#i want a model that looks like that#if theres anybody in the world i would throw money at itd be him id commission him to make me a model#and then id never mess with it because its already perfect#i have a file with six different heads for me to try different painting styles on to see what i like#so im just gonna flip to different pages in the artbook and try to mimic each style until i get something im happy with
