Me: Everything I've been reading lately is really meta--books about writers and books and genre conventions--and it's interfering with my writing process. I need to read stories that are just stories and not books about other books.
Me, ten seconds later: Rereads 84, Charing Cross Road and watches a Youtube series about Wishbone.
#in my defense i have none#i just stumbled on youtube videos about both#plus side after i finished 84ccr i immediately wanted to reread last year's inklings challenge story#and it turns out that story is better immediately after reading 84ccr#which i did not expect to happen at all#i was afraid it would pale by comparison and instead the original book elevated it (especially the beginning)#because it was very clear what i was going for#there's a rocky part in the latter part of first act or so but once it gets going i was still invested in the story so i guess it works#but anyway now that *that's* over i am on a strict youtube ban and probably reading ban too#unless it's stuff that will get me in a fantasy mindset#84 charing cross road#wishbone

I haven't been active in the fandom, but I have been commissioning some artists (both for charity and personal interests) and it really made me realize how professional my token 4 artists that I normally commission are compared to other artists, because why tf is one of them charging me extra because I asked for a plain-blue background instead of a plain-white background.....
#I'm usually a very patient and generous person but come on even I have standards#literally just select the paint bucket tool and the color blue and click the background? Its just 3 clicks with zero technique required#if you have been following me for a while then you know those 4 artists#all of them are super nice and would give you EXACTLY what you asked for in a short period of time with near-daily updates#like I'm not used to artists ghosting me for months without any update or replies#with me begging them each week to respond to me#and suddenly sending me a fully-finished piece even though they promised to send me a rough sketch first in case I wanted something changed#and that goes without mentioning how the finished results is quite different from what I described#or how rude they are in the way they talk#and the worst part is that none of them are under charged I probably paid them more then my usual artist#I think its because I used a burner account to talk to them?#Because I noticed that artist put more efforts when you have a lot of followers

So, it looks like someone beat me to getting all the songs remade in Heaven Studio XP, but I still think it's cool to see someone else's take on it~ (The thumbnail art goes so hard~)
And with Heaven Studio sniped off the web, and thus probably putting a halt on updates for the foreseeable future, I probably won't be finishing my mixes anytime soon since they depended on games that weren't implemented yet.
So, if I ever want to finish my own project, I'm probably gonna have to suck it up and swap out more of the games.
*sigh* Vs. 1010 just isn't gonna be the same without Freeze Frame...

A chapter#First of all: I'm ENDLESSLY GRATEFUL to the person who sent me the translation basically as soon as the chapter came out.#I even did like 90% of typesetting but didn't finish it because I had to go out#(aka with my friends were literally knocking out at my room and I couldn't make it any more late lol)#Mixed feelings about it? Mostly because there's so much exposition... I'll need to reread it another three times before it sinks in#The color page is AMAZING 10000000000000/10 I love my sskks so much they're so cute I love them so much they're so cute.#Easily the best part of the chapter.#The color page was? Very very pretty too? Like a lot more than usual if you ask me! I can't wait for the volume cover 🥺🥺#It should come out soon shouldn't it? Usually color spreads / pages open the volume...#Akutagawa fake dying again is funny. Like it isssss but also. Idk it's a little lame how we're changing the pov from ss/kk again :/#I can't even tell if I'm being biased or if it's an actual storytelling critique. I don't care right now I just want to see Akutagawa–#being cool rather than. You know. Dead on the ground.#That said! It's also very funny and touches my sense of humor precisely.#Like yeah Akutagawa being like the second strongest pm member and overall one of the most powerful ability user in the world–#that everyone fears (and I know he is! He is indeed for real!)#And yet he always ends up face to the ground 😂😂😂 Like if we don't count the ss/kk fights he literally only ever won against Hawthorne.#And even then he failed to kill him and Mitchell. OKAY, IT'S FINALLY HITTING
(will you guys hate me if I post this longfic a month later than planned?)
#i'm tired of working on a long project i can't start publishing yet!#i've been working on this thing since mid july i think?#early august at the very latest#so i THINK i'm going to take october off and mainly work on my little oneshots for a bit!#it'll push all the plans back by a month but i think it'll be worth it#bc i can't write good content when i'm not having fun with it#(also i think i'm literally the only person who cares about this thing staying on schedule so as long as /I/ say it's fine to push it)#(then it's fine right?)#the amazing news tho is that this is a HUGE stretch of daily writing progress for me#and i am still actively enamored with writing fic#just need a break from writing fic i can't share because the external validation is an important part of the process!#anyway i also think after this big project#i might have a better handle on longform stuff#so it MAY not be so much an issue next time if i figure out how to outline better#so i don't have to rely on finishing the entire fic's rough draft before posting the first chapter

#sooooo...i kinda got wrapped into playing Ocarina for the first time#didn't think id enjoy it as much as I have#found out (truly a grand surprise ((sorry im putting sarcasm definer in the parenthesises..)) I like side quests#and when i say like em#I mean what's main game plot- i will literally COLLECT EVERYTHING given the oppurtunity before halfway point#im like...nearly to 30 gold sklltullas#and uhm..i like...i like learning the enviroments and RUSHING to get places before it gets too dark#oh boy i just thought i'd play it a little bit yesterday#got “in bed” around 9:30 and picked it up to play- it was 1 something in the morning before i stopped#then was like OH SHIT ive got work!#but theres such a joy and excitement of just scouring through everything out here#i dont know why- but i suppose the reputation of zelda games just made me feel like id have to slog through things?#or just like...take things really seriously and...i dunno...its this grand ONCE in a lifetime thing#maybe thats just the image ive gotten from passing youtube videos#the only other Zelda game I've finished before-played YEARs ago was Spirit Tracks and I very much enjoyed it#maybe because Zelda was actually part of it that time haaah#well ive run my mouth long enough im gonna go run back to the mountains

#im posting this very late because i was sort of weary of how it came out and ended up messing w it until it was like 4am oops.#and i have plans tmrw so... oh well! i did my best and ill put it out while i can!#and i tried to make the scene match barnard's colors lol#finn's ocs#finn's art#i know i said id do more sillay stuff with the simpler screentone only style but i had a couple more of these in me#and this is the first piece im making thats like an actual part of the story too rather than just setting stuff for fun#i wanna write something to go with it too but for now ill just sort of briefly explain the context in the tags here:#barnard has a pretty bad case of OCD and his compulsions have made it difficult to make friends in the past#he was never outright bullied or anything but people just didnt really have the patience to deal with it#he has compulsions that include stuff like walking through doors until it feels right and needing things to be perfectly aligned#which in group settings has lead to people having to wait for him to finish his rituals and join them#they might find it tolerable at first but eventually they grow impatient and hes just... not invited to stuff anymore#but juno is a newer member of the guild who ends up frequenting the same library. hes also kinda a little weird#and they dont become fast friends or anything but just sort of naturally spend time in the same place#though they never plan meetups they eventually fall into a routine. around the same time theyd just both be at the library#and read next to each other. and maybe talk a bit. and eventually they end up walking back to the guildhall together#since theyre going to the same place after all. and juno always waits for barnard outside the door#eventually barnard asks if this bothers him. juno kinda just tells him 'of course it does' without any malice or anything. just a statement#barnard is surprised and apologizes and juno says not to. but the next day juno doesnt show up at the usual time.#barnard assumes hes committed somekinda more by bringing it up. he ends up staying there late reading to get his mind off it & not ruminate#but when he leaves juno is in fact still waiting for him down the hall (see pic) having collected a bunch of books literally abt ocd#he fell asleep bc barnard stayed later than expected. and hes an eepy guy generally. and also one very bad at expressing himself#but now barnard gets that juno's 'of course it [bothers me]' had the implication of 'but its worth it' which no friend has previously done.#and from the interaction juno was also able to understand that this isn't something barnard just does for the hell of it so. he studies.#and checks a bunch of stuff out because he thinks it could help his friend too (theres ocd workbooks and such- i remember working w them)#and thats the point where they became more ''friends'' than ''pleasant library acquaintances''#from there on they also do get into juno's problems. whole other bag of worms. but this specific scene is more about bernard from his pov#sorry about when i said briefly explain. i lied </3#but compared to the whole sequence im picturing its brief so shhh

speaking of fantasy authors, have you ever read any of Robin Hobb's work? Can highly recommend if not!
i have wanted to get into robin hobb for YEARS but have no idea where to begin. also, they're all trilogies, which scares me. i don't normally read books that are in a series because once you've read one you have to go out and buy the rest and i am frightened of commitment
#i will read the first book in a series and say 'i liked that very much' and then i will simply never buy the others. it's a mental block#gideon the ninth? best fantasy novel i've read in years. i have never read the sequels.#howl's moving castle? love it. have never read the sequels.#wheel of time? mistborn? parable of the sower? shades of magic?#yeah.#i think it's something to do with the fact that when i go to a bookshop i want to buy something new and exciting#and buying part two of a series feels like a cop-out?#the only trilogy i've finished in years is the southern reach and that was only because i was getting them from the town library

Mwahahahaha my first real fic and of course it has to be Tsukasa angst and contain mafukasa drama.

I'm clearly overcompensating for the lack of Tsukasa angst in canon but leave me be okay. SEGA neglects Tsukasa like his parents. I can do what I want. And of course, I'm a sucker for happy endings. I won't nake it end on horrible note.
And I'll try to make it good quality I promise. English isn't my first language [cry] but I'm most comfortable with it and people have told me I'm pretty fluent so hopefully it won't be full of shit...
(Hopefully I've also grown past my wattpad fanfic writer tendencies (I love people on wattpad but a lot of fics there that features x reader would just copy and paste the script, add a bit of description, rewrite tiny bits (aka write the characters fall in love at first sight), and leave it like that. #usps#snow#ice#winter weather#i decided to stop on the street to deliver mail for the 3 boxes behind me#and because they were so close to the ditch i said nah. I'll park and shut off the truck and do that shit outside the truck.#and as soon as i pushed the brakes in a tiny bit more that truck said 'no you ain't son!'#and i slid like 3ft off the road#somehow missing both oncoming traffic and the three boxes behind me#and then one of my coworkers (who lives on the street id just finished) drove by and i didn't notice and he talked shit to everyone else#laughed about me ending up in the ditch#i also missed the steeper part of the dropoff by like 3 inches#had i hit that my nose would have been touching the ground instead of me just being unable ti leave the roadside#overall very lucky because i don't get written up for this situation#and i didn't have to wait 3 hours in the snow for a tow truck because some dudes in a dually pulled me out#said they were driving around just looking to help people out#and you know what? rednecks get a bad wrap but those dudes were chill as fuck.#sometimes even the shitass rednecks are good people when it comes down to it. they were just raised wrong and don't let that ish go.#they let me tap out delivering mail at that point too. my boss wanted me to do the whole route.#that was also my first day on that route and i didn't know where i was going and almost got fucked 2 other times#i know how to drive in snow in a front wheel or awd car. but i don't think anyone knows how to snow drive in rwd#guys who have worked there for decades had to get help out of ditches or stuck in driveways#all of us reported that we couldnt reverse or go uphill without sliding#only people who were ok were those who were driving their own cars#if i did that shit in my Subaru I'd probably have been alright#my car did totally fine on the 11 miles it takes for me to get home#but i did lile 1/3 of the mail and i hope the carrier isn't mad at me come monday (bc we'll likely be closed tomorrow)#now I'm home and took a shower just to burn myself with scalding hot water#and my only regret is not going by the store this morning for bread and soup#i managed to get a sprite on my way home but sick me demands soup! and i have no soup!!!
