how many times after they got together did dean shoot cas after being startled awake because he’s so unused to someone beside him. that he expects to be met with violence first, and not whatever warmth or comfort that is cas scrolling on his phone or reading as dean sleeps. “he’s an angry sleeper. like a bear.” but not so much angry as terrified and quick to react, and if dean didn’t have a panic attack, tossing the gun aside before his hands meet at the inconsequential wound on his best friend’s chest or stomach, cas would respond to the gunshot with a sigh and an eye roll. instead, cas gentles and says, “you can’t harm me.” but it matters to dean. do they talk about it? do they have a no guns under the pillow at home rule?

Thinking about Benny is so funny. Man spent practically a year running after Dean as Dean murdered his way through Purgatory looking for Cas. Then they find Cas, who has been avoiding them and their murder quest to protect them (thereby extending Dean’s time in Purgatory). Benny must have been five minutes from getting them a marriage counsellor because one conversation would've saved them all a year or so.
