I think it's important to set realistic goals for yourself during holidays. because of the nature of how my family celebrates I can't just say 'im not gonna èat or I'm gonna rèstr1çt heavily' because I know it won't work and then I'll feel bad and disappointed and like I'm good for nothing so here's a list of my realistic goals/rules for holidays that I know I can realistically stick to - maybe some of you could get inspired!
I also urge you to not get too ambitious! if you know you won't be able to stick to it then save yourself the disappointment, aiming too high when you don't have the means to achieve it will only do you more harm than good I promise. not progressing/regressing during this time is a norm for more people than you think, it's not the end of the world, you're not alone in it and we know you have tried your best
a list of realistic goals for the holidays break:
- do not accept any seconds, stick to èating only one portion
- try walking as much as you can - go on a walk around your neighbourhood if possible, if you have a dog volunteer to take them out/play with them to move around
- if you're craving sweets go for fruits instead of baked goods like cakes or cookies
- hydrate hydrate hydrate
- be mindful of your alçohoĺ consumption
- be mindful of your attitude towards others - when you're frustrated because of your èď it's so easy to turn nasty towards others please do not turn nasty or hateful towards others just because you're hurting
if you have any goals/rules for yourself please share them!
here we always say that how you end the old year is how the rest of your new one will look like - let's not end the old one being miserable about fòod so we won't curse ourselves to be miserable about it for the whole next year!
sending you all the best wishes, i hope you will be able to rest during the holidays and i hope everyone will remain healthy
with love bea <3

MASTERLIST.
Tumblr media
Having an idol fiance was not easy, it was tiring even. But in the end it was worth it all for him. You both have been together for four years now, engaged since this year and you have never been happier. Even though the relationship had some ups and downs, you're grateful it went as it is. A year into the relationship, you both did a good job hiding the relationship until some paparazzi had to ruin a date and next thing you knew, dating news.
Jungkook stayed with you for days, not leaving your apartment while both of your phones went crazy. You were so scared that he will leave you and that you ruined a poor man's life, crying and shaking. But your boyfriend just clinged onto you while whispering softly "baby, everything will be fine, hm?". Everything did get better. It didn't take long before BigHit announced that Jungkook indeed was in a relationship and that the idol hoped that the fans will be happy for him.
There were mixed opinions, of course. It didn't take long before stalkers had found your address and phone number so Jungkook took you to live with him, moving out from his band dormitory for you. The new home was very secured and even the windows were tinted so no one could see or take pictures of the celebrity. Other fans though decided to do what Jungkook asked them to and tried to take you into the family, it didn't take long before you had fanpages and people called you the 8th member of bts. That all was kind of new to you but you tried to accept it and go with the flow until Jungkook seated you down and basically begged you to drop your current job because it was too dangerous. You weren't fine with it at the start, but when you thought of it more, he was right. So you dropped your work and stayed home for some time.
It didn't take long until you got interest in writing and started to write some books out of boredom. You also got requests for modelling which you said yes to. Your boyfriend at that time didn't mind as long as you were safe. You both were happy and so in love that it seemed to good to be true, so Jungkook seated you down under the pretty moon and stars before he gazed you, eyes soft and full of adoration as he got on one knee and soon you were a crying mess in his arms while repeating "yes" from your lips.
Articles floating around with the engagement rumours as army saw a diamond ring on your finger. You weren't sure if you could be open about it since BigHit and your soon to be husband were both quiet about it so you just shook it away for a bit, until your heart dropped.
"BTS, Jeon Jungkook spotted with another female idol" Your eyes went through the title again as you scrolled down reading some comments.
"Finally Jungkook got someone who is actually worth him"
"I knew he was a player but weren't he and his girlfriend engaged or something?"
"poor y/n"
You bit your bottom lip maybe too harshly, quickly scrolling back up to the picture. Jungkook grabbing onto some girls shoulders while mouth open but that pretty much was it. You groan as you place your phone away, onto the bed table. Sometimes you were a bit insecure, being a boring normal person dating an perfect idol to ever exist, really can do something to a person.  You just stare down on your lap, looking at the beautiful ring your love gave you weeks ago.
You sigh and move your head up, gaze falling on the window as you watch the dark but busy city. It didn't take long before you felt warm tears on your cheeks, now sobbing onto your pillow while your ears ringed. Jungkook won't be home today since he was in Hong-Kong for a awards ceremony so you continued to cry your heart out onto the bed, pouring all your insecurities into it. Probably about half a hour later, you were still crying but not that hard as before, soft hiccups leaving from your throat. As you were about wipe your tears again, your hand froze, hearing the door opening beeping sounds. You quickly turn around, looking for your phone for the clock as you curse under your breath, shit.
It was already two am, which means you have definitely cried for more than just 30 minutes. as you were about to quickly wipe your teary cheek, a soft voice stopped your tracks. "Y/N? Baby, why are you still up?" You quickly turn your head, eyes widening softly at the sight of your fiance. He still had his makeup on and hair done from the ceremony, hair a bit messy from the sides. White big shirt hanging on his torso while wearing some plain comfy black pants. You shake your head quickly from the 'daydream' as you wipe your face clean, hoping that he didn't notice since the light wasn't the best due to the moon. Your heart drops quickly when you see his already confused and a bit worried stare turn into a plain worry and panicked one. He quickly walks over to you and sits beside you on the bed, taking your hands.
You move your eyes away from the male, as you try to hold your tears back, bottom lip slightly shivering. "Baby, what happened? Are you okay?" And that question is enough to make you into a sobbing mess again, trying to move away from him as you don't want him to see you like that because of dumb insecurities. That doesn't go as planned as he quickly takes your waist and hugs you, pressing soft kisses on your cheeks and on your temple. You relax to his touch as you cling onto him tightly, hiding your face onto his neck.
He gently starts to stroke your back, quietly singing a song onto your ear that he wrote for you a while ago, which you loved. Your sobs turn into quiet hiccups as he moves you away from his neck, taking your chin as he moves it up to make you meet his gaze. His eyes soften, as he moves his hand slowly to your cheek, caressing it with his thumb. "i hate seeing you like this" he says quietly but calm as he slides his other hand to your other cheek, now cupping your face softly.
"Princess, please tell me what's wrong" his eyes never leaving yours as you sigh, biting your bottom lip before saying "are… are you with someone else?". You whisper the last part as you try to move your gaze away from his, before you could,  he pulls you closer and cups your face harder than before.  His eyebrows jump up from confusion as he tilts his head "What do you mean?". You then hesitantly grab your phone as you give it to him, his hands leaving your cheeks as he takes the device from your soft hands. He then dials the code as his eyes are met with the bright light of the screen.
His eyes widen a bit as he moves his eyes from the title to the picture, a soft smirk appearing on his lips. "Damn they are fast" He says as he places your phone back to where it was, quickly taking your waist to pull you closer. You furrow your eyebrows as you just stare at him, mouth dry. He then looks at you as he leans closer to you, the playful smirk never leaving his lips. "That girl asked me out" he just says as your mouth opens slightly, ready to say something. "But i rejected her, and she was being a bitch about it so i told her that i have a beautiful fiancee home and kind of moved her away with her shoulders". You just blink your eyes repeatedly as you close your mouth before opening again "moved?" "pushed…" Jungkook looks away like a little boy as you chuckle.
You've had a talk about not fighting and pushing anyone for so many times in the past years so you just shook it off since there won't be a use for that again. You roll your eyes as you pout a bit. You, here, cried for hours like a baby for nothing. You should have known that he would never do something like that, you knew it but the insecurities got the best of you. As you were lost in your thought, you gasp as you feel a warm hand on your bare thigh, remembering that you only had wore his shirt and some panties since you were too lazy to put on some "fancy" pj's.
"Did you really thought i would cheat on you?" He asks you, voice suddenly a bit husky as you keep your eyes away from him, nervousness filling your veins. Your throat makes a quiet whimper as he grabs your neck, pulling your face towards his. Your eyes widen as your heart starts to pound, his lips inches away from yours as he has that dumb little smirk on his lips again. His veiny hand moves up your thigh, as your mouth opens slightly. "I would never think of another woman, touch another woman and glance at another woman if it's not you, doll" You breath now heavy as your eyes never leave his dark ones, lust all over them.
You gasp when he suddenly pushes you into the mattress, quickly hovering over you as he pins your hands on the bed with one hand. He then moves his other hand from your neck to your chest, to your stomach and to your dripping warmness, cupping your pussy. A low laugh leaves his lips as he moves his hand slightly, making you close your legs. "already this wet when I haven't even done anything?" Warmness moves to your cheeks as you try to hide your face, which is no use as he quickly brushes his nose against yours, his eyes on your lips. You lick your lips as you groan from frustration, trying to connect your lips with his as he moves his face away, making a tsk tsk tsk sound with his tongue.
"hm, doll, I don't think you deserve my kiss just yet, after you betrayed my trust like that" he says lowly as he chuckles after, rubbing your clothed cunt.
"Jungkook- it's not like that" You moan out as you close your eyes. He then slaps your inner thigh, his grip on your hands tightening. "Keep your eyes on me doll, you want to make me more pissed don't you?" You quickly open your eyes as you nod at him, biting your bottom lip. He just smiles slightly as he moves your underwear on the side and rubs his index finger up and down your folds. A moan slips from your lips as you try your hardest to keep still, holding his gaze. He then slides his middle finger in as he circles on your clit painfully slowly. "Jungkook, please.." You whine out as you hold yourself back from not closing your eyes.  "Please what?" He tilts his head as he moves a third finger in, his speed increasing. You just moan as you squeeze you eyes quickly gasping when you feel him slapping your cunt. "words doll." he says slowly as he suddenly slides two fingers in your hole, a loud cry leaving your mouth.
"please fuck me, I'm all yours" he groans at that as he quickly presses his lips on yours, his hand starting to move faster into you as you moan loudly against his lips. He then slides his wet tongue in, you suck on it as you start to grind against his fingers,  soft moans leaving your mouth. He pulls away from the kiss as he pecks your lips before moving his head to your neck, placing wet kisses on it. "Fuck" You groan out as you feel yourself getting closer, your lips leaving a whimper as he sucks on your neck. "Jungkook I'm-" Before you could finish, an annoyed groan leaves your lips as the male pulls his finger out of your hole, a playful smile on his face. You pout at the male as he only chuckles, connecting your lips with his for a quick kiss.
He then pulls away as he unbuttons his shirt, straddling you while keeping his gaze on you. You suck in a breath as your eyes move from his eyes to his abs, he chuckles as he quickly pecks your cheek, pulling your shirt off. His eyes widen a bit as he bites his lip, his gaze meeting with your boobs as he quickly leans towards them and kisses around your nipples. You whine out as you move your hand to his hair, looking down at him as he focuses on your chest. He then slides his other hand to play with your nipples, pinching them while sucking on them. Your breathing heavy as you moan, his hand sliding to your panties, pulling them off. He then places kisses on your stomach as you caress his cheek "Baby?". He hums at you as he keeps placing kisses on your stomach. "Wanna suck your cock."
He stops at that as he looks at you, squeezing your thigh before rolling beside you on the bed. You quickly kiss his temple as you pull his pants down, quickly meeting with a pre cum dripping massive cock as you move between his legs. He keeps his lust heavy eyes on you as you lean down on him, pressing a kitty lip on the tip. He groans quietly as you rub his tip, looking at him with a soft smirk. "You look so pretty like that" You say before moving down again, wrapping your lips around his pink tip. He groans at that as he slides his hand to your hair, playing with it softly. "Fuck y/n" he groans while throwing his head back, you sliding the whole member into your mouth. You then start to move your head faster, glancing up at him through your lashes.
Shit, the whole sight is enough to make you cum yourself. His head moved up, as his gaze was on you, his eyes sharp while he licked his lips. At that you start to move your head at a faster pace, rolling your tongue on his cock. He suddenly grabs your hair as he groans, starting to thrust into your mouth. You moan around his member as tears start to form in your eyes, looking up at him. "I wish i could fuck your little throat everyday like that" he groans out as his grip on your hair gets stronger. Tears are going down your face but you don't stop, loving this too much. You hear a loud groan as his thrusts get weak, closing his eyes while mouth open. "doll, can i cum in your mouth?" you just nod against his dick as he moans loudly, feeling the salty liquid in your throat.
At that, he lets go of your hair slowly as you fall beside him, some cum still on your lips as you breathe heavily. He turns towards you as he hums deeply, moving on top of you. His eyes soften a bit as he caresses your cheeks, his gaze moving to your lips. He then presses them against yours as he slides his hand to your neck, squeezing it softly. You moan into the kiss as you move your hands to his hair. "You have been such a good girl, baby" he whispers against your lips, as he moves his hand to your breasts, squeezing them. You moan as he chuckles again, moving his face to your neck. He licks on it as you bite your lip, closing your eyes. "But i think i still have to fuck you, thinking i would cheat on you gorgeous" he scoffs quietly as he grabs his cock, bumping it a few times as he rubs it against your clit. You whine as you grab his shoulders,  him quickly stopping you as he pins your arms back on the bed. He leans closer to your face as he scans it, pressing his cock harder against your cunt.
You groan as he only smirks at you, slapping your pussy with his member as you moan loudly. "Jungkook please…" You whine out while looking up at him. He then suddenly slides his cock in, a loud moan leaving your lips as he groans. "So fucking tight" he breathes out as he starts to move his hips slowly, keeping his eyes on yours. You pout softly as you groan "Faster, please". At that Jungkook starts to move slower which makes you whine, he chuckles as he presses a kiss on your nose before he starts to move his hips faster.
You're a moaning mess, mouth slightly open as you keep your eyes on the man. He curses as he kisses you hungrily, the kiss being full of lust and love. He slides his hand to your thigh, stroking it as he squeezes it. He breaks the kiss to look at you, pressing kisses all over your face "so gorgeous…" he whispers between the kisses as you hum. Feeling like you're floating from the pleasure as stars form in front of your eyes, his thrusts getting deeper. You moan out his name  as you throw your head back, closing your eyes. Jungkook breathes heavily as he sucks on your neck and collarbone, leaving marks all over you. "Can i come inside, love?" He asks softly against your neck as you nod quickly, groaning. He then whimpers as he slides his hand to your chin, moving your face towards his. You look into his eyes as you forget everything around you both, his other hand leaving your arms as you pull him closer. Kissing his lips sloppily as he cups your face, groaning as you cum around his cock.
His thrusts get weak as he moans against your lips, filling your hole up. He does some last slow thrusts before carefully pulling his member out, pressing a soft kiss on your cheek as he quickly walks into the bathroom. Your chest moving up and down while you look up at the ceiling, smiling tiredly. Jungkook quickly comes back into the room with a towel as he climbs on the bed, cleaning you up he pecks your lips with a soft giggle. You keep your gaze at him as you chuckle at him, opening your arms so he could come back. He smiles as he throws the towel somewhere into the room as he slides into your hug. Pulling the sheets up while holding you close. He then pulls you against him as you rest your head against his chest, listening to his fast heartbeat as you smile to yourself.
"Did i tease you too much?" he asks quietly while stroking your bare back, hiding his face into your hair. "Maybe a little" you hum out as you snuggle closer to him, giggling softly. He smiles against your hair as he presses a kiss on your head, hugging you tightly. "I love you Jungkook" You say before pressing a few kisses on his chest and neck, breathing in his scent. "I love you too, y/n".
The first thing you saw in the morning, was BigHit's statement notification about the engagement.

Joey B Imagines: Touchdown Celebrations
Tumblr media
————————————————————————-
Summary: The gender reveal of your second pregnancy, and third baby, has to top the first reveal. You and Joe decide you want to incorporate the team again just like you did with the twins’ and even go on to decide to do it during a game… but still keep it secretive to the outside world.
Warnings: fluff, pregnancy
Pairing: Joe Burrow x reader
Imagine universe: Into The Mystic
————————————————————————-
*18 weeks pregnant*
Another day at Paycor Stadium, except today wasn't just any day… today Joe and I would be finding out the gender of our third baby.
The twins’ gender reveal had been a hot topic on the internet after the story was told, and Joe and I both knew we'd have to step it up even more.
I can honestly say that I planned pretty much everything by myself last time, but this time around Joe had been bouncing ideas off of me constantly.
The team was going to be the stars of the show once again. It made sense because of how present they were in Joe and me’s lives, the boy's lives, and the pregnancy of the unborn baby still inside my womb.
I sat in the box with Robin on my right, Miles on her lap, and Tyson on my left.
Both of us were waiting patiently for the guys to run out and the outcome of the coin toss since it would be telling us how much longer we would have to wait for Joe and his offense to be on the field.
We would be on offense when the reveal of our baby's gender would happen.
This was how it was going to go down.
On our offense’s opening drive, Joe would ideally try to get the ball to one of his guys, ending in a touchdown.
The entire offense would go to the end zone, minus Joe of course, and either flex their arms for a boy or do a ballerina spin for a girl.
At first, Joe loved the idea but hated the flexing vs spinning because he found it subjective and kinda sexist.
He couldn't come up with any alternatives so Joe reluctantly agreed to the original idea.
Before the game, Coach Taylor kicked Joe out of the locker room and told the offense the gender of the baby.
Now that the guys knew what they were doing, all we needed was a touchdown.
Both Robin and I had spent the last 10 minutes trying to explain everything to Tyson and Miles in the best possible way you can to two two-year-olds.
Even though they still couldn't understand, their attention was immediately lost when “Dada” ran out onto the field.
I will never get tired of seeing them getting so excited watching their father do what he loves.
Miles had squirmed off of his grandma’s lap and was standing at the railing by his twin as they jumped up and down, cheering for their favorite person.
The moment was so blissful and sweet that I almost couldn't hear Robin talking to me.
“So, have you gotten sick yet? I know you had really bad morning sickness with the twins so I wanted to see if there was a difference.” - Robin
My hand dropped to the small bump that was just now starting to show through my shirt.
“No sickness which is insane. Joe thinks it's a girl because of that.” - you smiled
“I think it is too.” - Robin grinned
I stood up and walked down to the railing to coral the boys back to their seats, thankfully they chose not to fight back.
——
When Joe and his guys took the field, both Robin and I were high on excitement. She took one of my hands and squeezed it tight.
I could tell that Joe was trying to get down to the end zone quicker than normal.
Because of that, it wasn't long till they were within the 25-yard line.
Robin and I were practically bubbling with a mix of nerves and pure ecstasy.
Jimmy stood up at the top of the box talking to a few other people while still paying attention to the field in hopes of finding out what his next grandbaby would be.
The offense didn't keep us waiting too long for a touchdown. My heart was beating so fast as Tee caught the pass and waved the rest of the guys into the end zone.
Joe stood a few feet away, his heart beating just as fast, and he looked up at you and his boys waiting patiently for the results.
He so wished he was with you, but he knew he'd try to get you down to him during halftime to celebrate.
The O-line, receivers, and the rest of the guys started doing a ballerina spin.
“It’s a girl!” - Robin yelled and hugged you
My eyes welled up with tears as I watched Joe jump up in down out of pure excitement. He was finally going to be the girl dad he's always wanted to be.
“Joe looks so happy.” - Jimmy
“He wanted a girl so bad.” - you cried
“Congratulations sweetie, I'm so happy for you guys.” - Robin
Jimmy handed me a tissue knowing I would be mad AF if my makeup ran.
Tyson and Miles both stared at me confused, before looking at each other to confirm they were seeing the same thing.
“Mama?” - Miles
“You wokay?” - Tyson
“I’m perfect, guys. I'm really happy actually because Mommy has a baby girl in her belly. That's why Daddy’s friends did that little dance after Uncle Tee got the touchdown.” - you
“Baby Girl?” - Tyson
“Yup. You guys are going to have a baby sister in a few months.” - you
Miles and Tyson smiled widely and moved forward to my bump. They laid their little heads on it to be closer to their sister.
“Is it Daddy’s bwaby… too?” - Miles
Robin and I busted out laughing before I composed myself enough to answer him.
“Yes, it's your daddy’s baby too.” - you
My eyes shifted down to the sidelines where Joe was still celebrating with a wide smile on his face. Everyone was hugging him and patting him on the back.
I didn't think my heart could warm any more than it already had, but when I realized Joe was crying and continuously wiping his eyes I thought my heart was going to explode.
“Dada’s cryin’!” - Tyson
“It’s because he's happy, baby.” - you
Ty scooted closer to me and laid his head on my shoulder.
“Are you happy for a baby sister?” - you
“Mhm. We can match!” - Tyson
“You wanna match with sissy? Like you do with Miles?” - you
“Yes!” - Tyson
——
As soon as it hit halftime, a security guard escorted me and the boys down to the locker room after Joe texted me saying Zac gave him the okay to talk to me for a second.
Both of my hands were occupied with holding a twin’s hand in mine as we walked down the hallway.
We rounded the corner and my pase quickened when I saw that familiar tall frame leaning up against the wall.
Once we were within a foot of him I let go of the twin’s hands and ran up to Joe, who had his arms wide open for me.
“Baby, I can't believe we're having a girl.” - Joe wrapped his arms around you
“Me either. I'm so excited.” - you
“I am too. I get to be a girl dad.” - Joe
“Yes, you do, baby. I can't wait to pick out a name for her and start brainstorming nursery ideas with you.” - you
“I’m going to spoil the living daylights out of her… and you too, mama.” - Joe
I laughed as I pulled away, thinking of a response in the meantime.
“I’m sure you will, babe.” - you laughed
Tyson and Miles walked out from behind me and Joe squatted down to hug his boys, though Tyson complained that Joe’s shoulder pads made the hug “uncwumfy”.
Once they were done hugging their dad, Joe stood back up and placed a kiss on my cheek. He placed a big hand on the center of my small bump and grinned at me.
“I don't want to keep you from the team too long, I'll see you later.” - you
“One, my family is way more important than football, and two you better be seeing me later because I'm your ride home.” - Joe
“You're a dork, Joe. I love you though.” - you
Joe leaned down to kiss me, faint sounds of the team inside the locker room getting hyped, and the twins gagging watching their parents kiss could be heard, but the only thing that I could pay attention to was my husband's soft lips.
“I love you too.” - Joe pecked your forehead when he pulled away
I watched him turn in the direction of the door and I took this as an opportunity to smack him on the butt since the twins were occupied looking at the artwork on the walls.
“Go win this game, Tiger.” - you winked
Joe chuckled loudly and rolled his eyes before stepping into the locker room. My smile never left my face as I watched him walk over to Zac, who is a proud girl dad himself, patted him on the back.
——
Walking back to the box with my boys had my heart flourishing like never before. They continuously asked questions about their baby sister and for once it felt like nothing could ruin my mood, not even the fact I was going to have smile lines by 40.

Hi!!! Do you have any fics where aziraphale is famous and crowley's just a "nobody"? preferably without explicit scenes, please :)) thank you so so much <3<3
Hello! We have a #famous aziraphale tag. Here are some fics in which Aziraphale is famous and Crowley is not. I could only find a couple of non-explicit fics, I'm afraid, but I'm pretty sure the smut is minimal/skippable in most of these...
First Thing In The Morning by FeralTuxedo (E)
Aziraphale Fell, erstwhile nerd, now successful fantasy author, is signing books at this year’s Heaven and Earth convention when he spots a red-headed man in the crowd. Someone he hasn’t quite been able to forget since his school days. And as luck would have it, Anthony Crowley, former troublemaker, now responsible adult, seems keen to reconnect.
Pride Month and Prejudice by TawnyOwl95 (E)
They say that you should never meet your celebrity crush. Especially when you know what an absolute bastard he is. So, of course, Anthony J. Crowley's participation in a queer adaptation of Pride and Prejudice for Pride Month has nothing to do with the involvement of A-lister A.Z. Fell. Crowley is only doing it so he has some gossip for his column. He didn't mean to get cast as Lizzy Bennet, he certainly didn't mean to be acting opposite Fell's Mr Darcy. And to make matters worse, Fell keeps staring at him...
Veni Vino Vegas (I Came, I Got Drunk, I Got Married) by A_N_D (T)
After a whirlwind drunken evening, author Az Fell came home from Rom-Con without his heirloom pinkie ring – but with a wedding license from a 24-hour Las Vegas chapel. Elsewhere, book fan Tony Crowley woke up with a hangover, vague memories, and a brand new ring he’s only seen in author photos. Mutually attracted, mutually terrified the other one thinks it was all a regrettable mistake, they turn to their dear but anonymous online friend to vent and ask for advice. …Maybe they should tell each other their screennames someday.
and now all of my garden is grown in lavender by ilikeblue (E)
Popular queer romance author, A.Z. Fell, has been lying about having a husband and a happy marriage for years. Longing to escape a string of failed relationships and looking for a fresh start, Aziraphale moves into the cottage left to him by his Great Aunt Agnes. When a TV adaptation of one of his books leads to sudden popularity and throws him into the limelight, his fans (and the press) are eager to catch a glimpse of Aziraphale's own mysterious leading man. Unfortunately, he still has to cast someone for that role. Enter the handsome gardener… Under Crowley's meticulous care the cottage's neglected garden slowly comes back to life, and Aziraphale finds himself writing the most important love story he'll ever write: his own
Once upon a time by elf_on_the_shelf (E)
‘Hello, my dear.’ Crowley bit his lip for a couple of seconds before he took a deep breath and just went with it. ‘Would you like to go for a coffee sometime?’ There was silence at the other end. Oh shit. ‘That was my friend messing around with my phone…?’ ‘You do realise that only works over text.’ ‘Myeah.’ Why was he like this? He had wanted to kill Bea for doing the same thing and yet here he was, doing the thing. At Bea’s behest, mind you. ‘I would love to go for coffee. Oh, and cake!’ Aziraphale is a very rich and successful writer. Crowley is at the worst possible moment of his life - living off Bee's couch and posting his mum's fairy tales on some random sites only to be ignored by everyone except one random person simply called A. This is a story about how both of our main protagonists get over the ghosts of their pasts, learn to work together and maybe - just maybe - fall in love in the process. Not to mention that all of the characters that we love (hate - looking at you, Gabe) make an appearance.
The Infernal Bodyguard by Santillatron (M)
Alistair Zira Fell is a popular author. Loved by everyone he meets. Well, almost everyone. Someone is trying to hurt him, and right now, he needs a bodyguard. Anthony J. Crowley is the best, although he doesn't work with celebrities. He has three rules. He never gets too close, never stays once the job is done, and Never Gets Involved. But this isn't a thriller. This, is a love story.

I'm not altogether knowledgeable on how to bea mod but I want to help in some way. Is there anything I can do?
Tumblr media
Hello! First off, thank you so much for your interest and for reaching out to us! Both our mod and contributor applications are currently closed, but there are still other ways you can help, both with this charity and with the situation in general!
The first is by submitting fanart and fic requests (once those forms are open) here with us (@twst-charity) by sending a screenshot/receipt of a donation made to one of three charities (Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, Medical Aid for Palestine, or Anera).
A very quick, easy, and free way to help is also by visiting this site and clicking the big, red, help button. If you’ve ever wanted to hit a big red button, now is the time to do so. This generates a donation to UNRWA to help Palestine.
Unfortunately, as many have heard by now, even these charities have been struggling to deliver resources to the people of Palestine due to blockades and frozen accounts, etc. Anera seems to continue to be successful in still getting resources where they are most needed, but the situation is constantly changing. We will be continuing to help raise donations in hopes that, as soon as there is an opportunity to do so, those charities will have the means and funds to make a difference.
However! There are still other ways to help Palestine and show your support. The first – and most important - is spreading awareness. Learn what is going on now and has been for the past 75 years. Be aware of propaganda and misinformation, whether purposeful or accidental. Archive tweets and posts and videos so that they cannot be scrubbed from the internet by those hoping to erase evidence of the genocide in Gaza. The importance of spreading the truth cannot be underestimated, especially with Netanyahu and the IOF increasing propaganda. Popular tags to do this include: #CeaseFireInGaza #CeasefireNOW and #FreePalestine!
Signing petitions and contacting representatives is also a good way to show your stance. Unfortunately, this does have some risk, due to organizations like c4n4ry mlssl@n (censored for safety) doxxing people who support Palestine.
Boycotting is another method that has been showing signs of success! The boycotting effort is being directed by the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC), which is the Palestinian leaderships of the global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) Movement. Frankly, far too many brands and celebrities have shown support for Palestine for the average person to avoid all of them. So, a certain few have been picked to have the most impact.
Boycott: Starbucks, McDonalds, Disney+ (which means no TWST microtransactions, y’all!), Domino’s Pizza, Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, Burger King, AXA, Puma, Carrefour, hp, Siemens, Ahava, sodastream, and Israeli businesses. (Note from Mod Ryuu: This does NOT mean a general boycott on all Jewish businesses! Don’t be that person. You’re not helping.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you want to proudly show your support of Palestine IRL – and are safe to do so – a popular method is by wearing a Kufiya, the iconic scarf of Palestine. You can order an authentic Kufiya from Hirbawi at kufiya.org or from Kufiyas Australia at kufiyas.org.au If you’re not in a position where that’s possible, there are two other popular methods. The first is simply by wearing the colors of Palestine: Red, Green, White, and Black. The second ties into those colors and the history of colonialism in Palestine, where once it was illegal to fly the Palestine flag. Instead, people used the watermelon as a symbol to represent the flag. If you need a subtle means of showing support, the watermelon is the way to go.

THINGS NOT TO DO:
-Break the boycott, including doing things like ordering a bunch of food and then ditching without paying. You are only making life harder for the minimum wage employees doing their best, not the billionaires behind them.
-Do not spam the tags with posts not related to Palestine, etc. Keep your fandoms in their fandom spaces and so on. Unless, of course, you are doing a charity drive or something similar through your fandom.
-Be antisemitic. DO NOT harass or accuse Jewish people of being responsible for this genocide. Jewish people across the world have been protesting in defense of the Palestinian people even before this latest war began. More than 2/3 of people in Israel disagree with Netanyahu and the IOF based on recent polling.

Hi! What would the main 10 skeletons favorite Thanksgiving activities be?
Undertale Sans - Sans likes Toriel's cooking too much and Toriel doesn't know how to tell his friend is full so uh, Sans eats until he literally passes out on the table, so happy. He can't say no to another plate because he doesn't want to hurt her feelings so... Yeah. He's pretty much in a coma for three days after that.
Undertale Papyrus - He goes to see a football game with Undyne. None of them really understand what's going on but everyone is screaming and they're screaming too! Also, they discovered that apparently, only certain people could run after the ball after Undyne got kicked out for scoring because the players were taking too much time. Human culture is confusing.
Underswap Sans - He participates in a turkey trot and does his best to win because there's no way he's losing. He doesn't mind if it is supposed to be a playful event, he's tryharding until he collapses behind the finish line. He's proud of him!
Underswap Papyrus - He goes to see some parades in big cities. He doesn't like the crowd, but that's fine, he somehow convinced Asgore to come with him and Asgore is so impressive people stay at least ten meters away from him. He's having fun!
Underfell Sans - His brother wanted him to do something with the random turkey he brought into the garden, but Edge was talking too much so Red didn't listen and now he's not sure what he's supposed to do with the bird. So, uh, he freed the turkey hoping his brother won't notice. That's only after the turkey left that a random spot of publicity reminds him he was supposed to cook the turkey. Well, shit. He runs to the nearest shop to buy another lmao.
Underfell Papyrus - Toriel insisted Undyne and him sit down and tell each other nice things because apparently, Thanksgiving is about being kind to others? Obviously, Edge doesn't like that, but Toriel makes sure that Frisk stays in the room so, if Undyne and him starts insulting each other, she will roast them alive instead of the turkey in the oven. Ew. He's disgusted and after a long two minutes of just staring, he tells Undyne she has nice fingers. Pfew. He did it. That was even more painful than fighting against Asgore. He feels sick actually.
Horrortale Sans & Papyrus - They organized a big Thanksgiving meal with all the monsters of the Underground on his farm. They do that each year, and it makes them feel a little better to see they are each year a little more than the precedent year. Monsterkind is slowly rebuilding and moving on. They also celebrate Gyftmas that day so they can all have more gifts at Christmas a month later. What, they're clever, don't be jealous.
Swapfell Sans - He prevents his brother from dying and that actually takes a lot of time. They are invited to share a meal with the Queen, but Rus... Rus thinks it's a good opportunity to tell the old bitch what he thinks of her, and alcohol definitely doesn't help. Toriel neither by the way, especially when she broke one of his brother's ribs because apparently, you have to break a wishbone or something on that day. Nox just wants to go home and sleep for three days, please.
Swapfell Papyrus - After Toriel breaks one of his ribs, Rus says that's ok because Thanksgiving is also about giving back. Then he punches her in the face. After that, he has to run the fastest turkey trot of his life because the Queen wants his head on a spit.
Fellswap Gold Sans - He's before all a business man so he goes shopping on Black Friday. Except he is merciless. Women, men, children, no one will stand between him and whatever he wants to buy. He's biting people's legs, throwing bones, and fistfighting everyone getting in the way. He doesn't need six televisions but he's still going to buy them just because he can!
Fellswap Gold Papyrus - He's all cozy in his room with the pumpkin pie he stole from the fridge, a big plaid and watching cliche Christmas movies in his bed and crying because that's so beautiful how Karen realized Jack-Sexy-Muscles was actually Santa Claus all along. He doesn't need more, really.

Okay so this is a bit rambly but bear with me.
One of my favourite things about the rwrb movie (the book too, but does it to a lesser extent) is that, in defiance of all romcom conventions, every time there is a misunderstanding/conflict, instead of stewing in it and letting it create more problems, within minutes of screen time, one of them forces a confrontation, they communicate and the problem goes away. (Almost like communication works or something.)
This happens multiple times throughout the film: Alex hates Henry. Henry makes him explain why, the hash it out, Henry apologises, problem solved.
Henry ghosts Alex after New Years. Alex makes him meet with him. Okay, to say they talk it out is probably too generous, but communication happens. They establish that they both want this (repeatedly), they create some mutual understanding, Henry lays out the boundaries of what this relationship can be for him and they find a way to make that work.
The same when Henry runs away from the Lake House. Alex comes after him and forces him to talk to him and while they obviously can’t solve the root problem, they settle on a compromise and a promise of ‘we’ll figure it out together and we’re not giving up’. They're back together and reasonably optmistic about the future.
To a lesser degree this even applies to other relationships in the film: Alex and his mom’s fight after the Texas memo leak ends when Ellen starts actually listening to him and reads his memo.
The e-mail leak can only be handled once Alex breaks the communication embargo, goes to Henry and they talk to the king. (Who tries to hide the true reaction of the public from them and the situation can only be resolved once someone (Bea) tells them about the crowds outside.)
Ellen wins the election, because of Alex, after she listened to him and after she lets him give his speech/communicate his truth about the leak (unlike the king who tries to hide Henry away and deny the truth).
Characters get rewarded for talking to one another and punished for not communicating.
The memo wouldn’t have been a problem if Zarah and Ellen had actually listened to Alex’s ideas about Texas before. Alex and Henry end up in the wedding cake & their forced public friendship they hate, because they refuse to talk to each other like normal people and it only stops being a punishment when they start doing that.
Philipp is shown the entire film talking at Henry without any interest in listening to his brother even once. The same goes for King James. He doesn’t communicate, he merely declares his intentions and actively shuts down anybody else’s contribution to the ‘conversation’. Both of them end up not only looking utterly ridiculous but they also loose in the end. The loose face, the loose control over Henry and they’re the ones who have to pick up the pieces of their failure to handle this situation while Henry gets to celebrate and be with the man he loves. (You could even make an argument that the way he is in the election celebration and then at Alex family house symbolises he gets a whole new family and home.)
In so many comedies the humour relies entirely on people not having the simplest conversation and making the characters behave utterly absurd in order to avoid conversations, and here is this movie telling us over and over “Communication is important!” Blame my deep hatred for the avoidable miscommunication trope but I just love that.

Time seemed to move differently in the face of eternity. A year passed by in a flash and (Y/N) would not have noticed had it not been for the absence of Beatrice.
She had been preparing for a morning class when the mailman slid a letter through her door’s mail slot. She knew it was something that would arrive anytime soon, but she still wasn’t ready for when it did. In her hands rested a forest green envelope with gold lettering and her name staring back at her. Of course (Y/N) knew what it was. But the witch didn’t want to believe it had arrived.
“You are cordially invited to the soulbinding ceremony between Beatrice Cabot and Russell Morgan,” (Y/N) said with a scoff. “Guess I should have seen this one coming.”
As the spiteful words left her mouth, the witch found herself regretting them. She had said it in solitude, yet she still felt they had reached her raven-haired friend. The wedding was inevitable. After she had left them behind, it was the normal trajectory of their life. Bea would live, she would marry, she’d have children, she would live. They were all things (Y/N) could not give her, could have never given her.
The wedding was only a day away when the envelope arrived, and it made her think maybe they didn’t truly want her there. She had probably been invited mostly out of a formality, but by sending it so close to the date, she believed they were hoping she would show up at all. And maybe she wouldn’t. (Y/N) believed that until she turned the paper over. Behind the thick cardboard, in the same perfectly crafted calligraphy, the words ‘Come home’ were written. It was a beacon back, a desperate cry for a last solace. Bea hadn’t pushed her away; she never had. They had merely become victims of time and space, of busy schedules and raying lifestyles.
But the love? Oh, the love burned bright and hot, lying patiently waiting for the moment it could blaze through everything in its path. Beatrice was (Y/N)’s eternal love. She didn’t know there would be another far greater and far grander. But for the time being, Beatrice was love incarnate for the witch. She was the girl’s first taste of a love so intense it surpassed societal boundaries and predetermined limitations. A love so pure it wasn’t jealous or selfish, greedy or impatient—just love in its most pristine form.
Before she could think twice, (Y/N) was running through her apartment, searching for that one piece she needed for the celebration. She had been saving it for a special occasion; not that many came around. And this was the most special event of them all. The love of her life had found a version of happy ever after, and that was all she could ever hope for. Bea was going to be happy, and that was enough.
There, in the very back of her bedroom closet, is where she found it, still enclosed in the box her mother had stored it in. It was the most expensive piece her mother had owned, and it wasn’t even designer. She pulled the sapphire blue gown out from the tissue paper layer, coughing slightly at the smell of it being stored away. Yet, even after so many years, it was as beautiful as the day her mother had made it.
In those times, the coven had not been doing well financially—no one was—and her mother’s younger sister had caught the eye of a particular rich bachelor in the city. Her wedding was set to be grand. It would even appear in the papers. Her mother was happy for her sister, of course, but she would never be able to afford the dress she had picked for her matron of honor.
(Y/N) had been twelve then, and she’d witnessed her mother have a discussion with Margaret regarding the matter. The rehearsal dinner alone would put a dent in their finances they didn’t want to spare. Her mother had thought she would either have to ask her sister’s new family for help or not go to the girl’s wedding at all.
But the older woman had done something neither (Y/L/N) had thought. “I don’t have the money for a new dress,” she had said. “But I do have enough for fabric. Go ahead, get yourself however much you need, and make yourself the most gorgeous gown this coven has ever seen, Nellie. Make those rich people weep with how beautiful you are.”
“It’s my sister’s wedding, Margaret,” she had smiled with small tears in her eyes. “I can’t upstage her.”
“She’ll have her entire life to upstage at a party?” Margaret had teased. “She can have a taste for one night.”
That very afternoon, they went into town and bought yards and yards of sapphire blue satin fabric that looked like real satin. Her mother had set to work the next day, spending hours upon hours working with old and cheap fabric until she had the perfect pattern to follow. Even with the mismatched cotton pieces, (Y/N) had thought the dress was beautiful, a gown fit for a queen.
“This is just so I don’t mess up the real thing,” her mother had told her as she hemmed the bottom of the practice piece. “This fabric is too beautiful to mess up.”
“Then, can I keep this one, mommy?” young (Y/N) had asked. “If you’re gonna make yourself another, that is.”
“Tell you what, little one. The dress will be yours as soon as you grow into it. And I can’t wait to see how beautiful you will be in it.”
“But where am I going to wear it to?”
“Wherever you like to, my dear,” she had smiled brightly. “You’re gonna do great things, my dear jewel. This will just become one gown amongst many.”
Nellie had been right about one thing. (Y/N) did grow into the dress but her mother had not been able to see her in it. Only two years later, her mother passed, and the dress remained in the white box her mother had neatly folded it into for over a decade.
Finally, (Y/N) had a place to wear the gown, yet her mother still wouldn’t be able to see it. But the most important person in her life would, and that’s what truly mattered to her. The dress would serve a purpose, and, just like her mother had said, she would look beautiful in it.
After packing any other essentials, the witch left her apartment and did not look back. She took a taxi down to Rice Field, earning herself a weird look from the driver. It wasn’t usual for a single lady to be dropped off in the middle of the woods with a suitcase at midnight. But the man took the money and left—couldn’t have been too worried. (Y/N) needed a big enough body of water and a secluded place, and at that time of night, Rice Field was perfect.
She made it to the river bank in a couple of minutes, breathing in the fresh air that surrounded her. She allowed the water to call to her, the earth to sing, and the wind to whisper. They called her home, called on her magic, and begged for her abilities.
Home, they told her. Come home.
(Y/N) knelt by the edge of the river, sinking her hands into the mud as she muttered her incantation. Just like the water implored, she thought of home. She painted the image of Bea in her mind and the Bound Souls’ Bank right behind her. The witch felt the pull toward her home through her limbs, saw the reflection of her river in the water, heard the singing of her birds and trees.
Home, they told her. Come home.
The bottom of the river opened up, revealing the portal toward her land. She slung her suitcase over her shoulder and took one step forward, allowing herself to sink into the water. Her body was enveloped in air, surrounded by water, but not a single drop touched her skin.
Home, she felt. She was going home.
She walked in darkness for a few seconds, her mind clear about where to go. Water travel wasn’t something she frequented. Given the amount of magical energy it required, she couldn’t do it more than just a few times without depleting her magic for a long time. But this moment required travel faster than any human could create.
Home. She needed to come home.
Complete darkness soon turned into sparkling lights in the night sky, into rustling leaves, into a babbling river with a waterfall a hundred feet away. She recognized the smells, the sounds, the sights. From every ripple in the water to every rock on the edge, she knew this place like the back of her hand. Including the girl who had fallen asleep a few feet away.
On a patch of grass, Bea rested her head on her crossed arms, her eyes fluttering under the weight of sleep. She always looked younger when she slept, but (Y/N) could tell just how much a single year had already transformed her. There were more than just three white hairs on her raven mane, she had new dark circles under her eyes, and the lines on her face had deepened ever so slightly. Yet, her beauty remained. In the witch’s eyes, she was the perfect woman she had fallen for in her teenage years.
“Darling,” (Y/N) whispered as she shook the girl softly. “Darling, wake up.”
The younger woman opened her eyes softly, a smile spreading across her mouth as her sights were set on the witch above her. “You’re here,” Beatrice beamed, wrapping her arms tightly around (Y/N)’s neck. “You’re finally home. I thought you weren’t coming.”
“As if I’d ever miss this for the world,” she chuckled softly. “I just got the letter today. I would have been sooner if I could have.”
“I waited here every day for two months since we sent the letters,” Bea said. “Something told me I should wait longer today, but I fell asleep while waiting.”
“That’s alright, darling,” (Y/N) smiled as she caressed her soft cheek. “I’m here now. That’s all that matters.”
Bea remained quiet as she stared at the woman before her. Tears had formed in the corners of her eyes, glimmering under the light of the moon. They fell promptly down her cheeks, faster and faster, before either could stop them from coming. It seemed as though everything she had been holding inside was making its way out to the surface and wouldn’t stop until it was done.
“I’m getting married, (Y/N),” the younger witch whimpered. “Tomorrow, I’ll be Mrs. Russell Morgan. Beatrice Morgan.”
“I know, my darling,” she sighed defeatedly. “But what’s the matter? Is he not treating you right? Are you okay?”
“Oh, no. He treats me wonderfully. Russell is honestly a man designed by the very gods,” Bea chuckled softly. “But he’s not you. I do love him and care for him immensely, but he’s simply not you.”
“Beatrice…”
“I know. I know I was the one that pushed you away, and we both know it was the right decision,” she sighed. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t miss you with every fiber of my being. You are embedded into my heart and my soul. You are and always will be the one keeper of my love.”
“Bea…”
“Just be mine,” the witch whispered, leaving a kiss on the skin of (Y/N)’s neck. “For one last night, tell me I’m yours and that you are mine. Possess me, own me, claim me. Just this one last time.”
“Bea, you belong to somebody else now,” (Y/N) muttered. She was trying her best to remain strong for them both. When it came to Beatrice, she was weak, and it wouldn’t take much convincing to fall back in her arms. “Russell is a good man, and I will not allow you to ruin that for yourself.”
“He knows, (Y/N),” Bea stated. “He knows my heart has long been taken from my body. He understands the love I have for you is different than the love I have for him. Russell knows about this proposition—I would never keep this from him.”
“How can I be sure that he truly is okay with this?”
“May the Great Goddess strike me down right now if I am lying to you,” Beatrice exclaimed. There was no lightning, no thunder, no earth-breaking moment that would say otherwise. “Russell and I have great communication, (Y/N). He knows that my heart aches because you are away. He knows you are the greatest love I have known in this lifetime and the next. He knows that if I don’t do this, there is no way our marriage could ever go on. “Tell me I have you, (Y/N),” she cried. “Tell me I still have you, or I fear I may never breathe again.”
(Y/N) remained silent for a moment. The woman she loved was on her knees, begging for the same love she had pushed away only a year before. Beatrice had told her to go, to leave her behind and start her new life—she would do the same. She had understood it was the right thing to do because it was what Bea had asked of her. Bea had told her to let go, to forget, to renew. She had told her to live.
And yet, there she was, pleading for the love she had pushed away. How could (Y/N) refuse?
“I don’t know how you could ever think that you lost me,” (Y/N) smiled, trapping her worried face between her hands in a gentle caress. “For as long as we both live, you will have me, Beatrice Cabot. My heart belongs to you. My lips belong to you. My soul belongs to you. You are my sun, my moon, and all of my stars. And you, my dear Beatrice, you belong to me too.”
Bea was too overwhelmed to speak. Instead, she pressed her lips onto (Y/N)’s, whimpering slightly at the touch. A year had felt like an eternity without her—a cruel reminder of what the rest of her life would be. She didn’t delude herself. She knew one day the other witch would come to forget her, at least the love they shared. Forever was far too long, and (Y/N) would one day meet the soul bound to hers. Even if she didn’t forget her, it was inevitable that she would no longer be the love of her life. Moments such as these would be fleeting for the now immortal witch, but they would mean the whole world to Beatrice.
“Take me home,” Bea whimpered as she clung to the woman’s coat. “Take me home, (Y/N).”
The older witch took the young woman’s hand, helping her up from the ground while grabbing her suitcase with the other. They ran through the woods, down the same path they had taken since they had been little girls. Branches smacked against their skin, leaves tickling their limbs as they passed, luring laughter from their throats.
Soon enough, they reached (Y/N)’s old cabin, the very place it had all begun—the place where she’d had all of her firsts. From her birth down to her first kiss, even where she had first taken Bea to bed. It was the place where, no matter how much time passed, she could always call home. No matter how much society advanced, she knew the village would withstand the changes of time, and her home would always stand tall and strong, waiting for her return.
(Y/N) was sure she’d find a layer of dust covering everything she owned and was surprised to see it all in pristine condition. “You’ve been cleaning,” she smiled. “You even removed the sheets.”
“If I’m honest, I removed them the very day you left,” Bea said sheepishly. “I couldn’t stand seeing the house abandoned.”
“I love it,” she beamed. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” the girl smiled. “I love you more than there are words to describe.”
(Y/N) couldn’t bear being apart from Beatrice any longer. Closing the door behind her, she dropped her suitcase to the ground and crashed her lips back onto hers. Unlike their kiss at the river, this one was desperate. It was the kiss of a woman starved—starved of connection, of affection, of love and passion. It was the answer to a silent prayer. More than a kiss, it was a covenant. An agreement between two souls that yearned for each other. The moment would come to pass, opportunity would cease to appear before them, but the love would burn brightly for as long as they fed it.
After tasting her mouth and rediscovering every corner she had claimed once, (Y/N) moved to Bea’s jaw, followed by her neck. She knew her body like her own. There was not a spot she had forgotten about. The raven-haired girl moaned as the witch kissed her right below the ear, just as she had done for years. (Y/N) nipped at the skin, smiling as she drew out the melodious tunes from the girl’s throat. Bea snaked her hands into her hair, pulling at it as the other gave her a particular sharp bite. It took everything inside her not to look at Bea’s surprised face, choosing instead to relish in the sweet taste of her skin before traveling further south.
(Y/N) kissed her way down Bea’s chest, stopping just above the hem of her nightgown where the top of her breast was exposed. That was the moment she noticed the other woman’s attire. Bea had forgone outside clothing and had been waiting in the cold of fall in nothing but a nightgown and a robe. Until then, she hadn’t even noticed just how cold her skin had felt, finding the temperature comfortable enough. “You could have frozen out there,” she worried. “You should have at least worn a coat.”
“I drank a warming tincture before I left,” Bea assured. “Russell insisted I did.”
“He really does care for you,” (Y/N) muttered, her tone coming out sadder than she intended.
“He cares for your happiness as well, my darling,” she smiled, placing her hand under (Y/N)y’s chin so their eyes could meet. “I promise you, he is in accordance with this arrangement. We spent a very long time talking about it. All he wants is for me to be happy, and he knows you make me happy. I’m telling you, he is a man written by the very gods.”
“I just feel like I’m betraying his friendship. Even betraying you in a way,” the witch admitted. “You’re supposed to marry him tomorrow. You’re going to be bound to him for the rest of your life, and yet, here we are, already breaking the easiest of vows.”
“We are not breaking anything, (Y/N),” she reassured. “Do you need to hear it come from his mouth? He does not mind this, darling. I would never lie to you.”
“But…”
“Just give me tonight,” Beatrice implored. “If you do not feel comfortable after the wedding, then I understand. But I have not stood before him and the Great Goddess yet to make my vows. Tonight, I am as free as the day is young. Tonight, I am allowed to change my mind about marriage if that is what I choose to do.” The girl took hold of (Y/N)’s hand, giving her a comforting squeeze before laying a chaste kiss on her lips. “Stop worrying, my darling. Just give me tonight.”

"IF" deserves better than what it's been getting
IF is not your typical summer movie. Previews led us to believe this was just a kids movie with Ryan Reynolds wisecracking with a bunch of celebrity-voiced imaginary friends. What we get is something is something surprisingly more emotional.
Bea (Cailey Fleming) is spending the summer with her grandmother (Fiona Shaw) while her dad (John Krasinski) is getting heart surgery. It's a very emotional time for Bea, who has already had to grow up fast after her mother's passing years before. However, her forgotten inner child comes knocking when she discovers that Calvin (Ryan Reynolds), her upstairs neighbor is sheltering a bunch of imaginary friends, or IFs for short.
The imaginary friends are all sorts of zany: awkward and sweet Grimace lookalike Blue (Steve Carrell), kindly butterfly Blossom (Phoebe Waller-Bridge), elderly teddy bear Lewis (Louis Gosset Jr in his final role), and nutty private eye Cosmo, just to name a few. All of their children have grown up and forgotten them. Since Bea can see them despite her age, she and Calvin attempt to find them new children that they look out for.
Yes, this sounds a lot like Foster's Home for Imaginary Kids, at least in the beginning. And yet halfway through the story, the film changes its tone quite drastically. It switches from the easy laughs and sight gags from the celebrity voice cameos to the heavy poignancy achieved in Pixar films.
It's obvious that director and writer Krasinski was inspired by Inside Out and how imaginary friend Bing Bong ripped our hearts out. Instead of the IFs being forgotten, they get one last chance to reconnect with their adult children in a way that gives them closure. Maybe it isn't realistic, but it sure is beautiful to watch.
IF doesn't feel like a summer movie because it was supposed to be released last November. Its whimsy poignancy would have fit in better in the holiday movie season, but that doesn't mean it still doesn't deserve a chance. If anyone is to blame for the so-called summer slump, it's the studios for not ending the strikes sooner. But that doesn't let audiences off the hook for not giving good (if not perfect) movies a chance while they're still in theaters.
Give IF a chance. You'll be glad you did.

angsty part two hmm. well maybe it can have something to do with whatever the heck was going on at electric umbrella studios. maybe girly is there helping out bea (we can pretend maybe she’s doing stuff with jack and not matty for ease of everyone’s heart lmao) then there is that little listening party or whatever where taylor and matty are seen together but maybe girly’s heart couldnt stand to stick around for very long so she leaves early. maybe in this dream matty pulls his head out of his ass and decides he will do anything and be anything that girly wants him to be because this thing with taylor is not doing it for him either
ok! edited the request slightly. and it doesn't have a happy ending because actually i'm a messy bitch who lives for drama. please note: THIS ISN'T ACTUALLY CANON IN THE D WORD UNIVERSE IT'S JUST A COLLECTIVE NIGHTMARE. ok. lol. happy new year. enjoy <3
gone four weeks, part 2 (d word matty x reader angst)
“oh my god, hi! you came! oh, thank you so much!” taylor pulls you into a hug, which you reciprocate warmly; you've no problem with her, after all. “and you look amazing! your hair! those shoes! it's a new look for you. i like it.”
you smile. “thank you, i just fancied a bit of a change. and thank you for inviting me! i was so touched when i got your message.”
“matty said it was your favourite of my albums - i couldn't not have you here.”
what the fuck?
“oh, he did?” you try to keep your face and voice steady. “that was nice of him.”
taylor nods. “it was the first thing he said when i first wondered if anyone would even come to a 1989 listening party - you would, if you were around. thank god margaret ran into you last week and told me you were!”
you murmur a “yeah”, in response, too busy reeling from the sudden emotional pain in your heart to reply properly. blinking a couple of times, you look back towards the front door of the studio to see more people coming in. “taylor, i'll catch up with you later, yeah? let you speak to… oh my god, i'm at the same party as kendrick lamar? fucking hell.”
she laughs, squeezing your arm. “no worries, babe. i'll see you later! matty’s… somewhere, if you want to catch up with him”.
not bloody likely. “cool. see you!”
you smile politely at kendrick, who returns it (!!), before heading off into the busy room. there are people you recognise absolutely everywhere you turn, but nobody you really know, more just celebrities you'd be worried about embarrassing yourself in front of. no sign of jack, or margaret, or even matty - not that you particularly want to see him, to be honest, but a familiar face (one not from your tv screen, that is) would definitely calm you down.
of course, so would a cigarette.
pulling your cigs and lighter from your bag, you nudge the side door open with your hip and step out into the alleyway and still-warm evening air. and then, almost immediately, you wish you hadn't. because, standing with his back to you - although that makes no difference, you'd know those back muscles and that head of hair anywhere - is matty, talking to jack and margaret, all three of them smoking.
fuck. this was an awful idea. but you can't turn back to go inside now, because jack's clocked you; he’s beaming, waving at you, shouting “sprout! get over here and smoke with us!”
despite yourself, you smile, wandering over and allowing yourself to be enveloped in a hug from the man and his fiancée. “wish you'd stop bloody calling me that, jack.”
“never,” jack replies, kissing your head as he releases you into margaret's arms. “you're sprout, and he's cabbage.”
“whatever - hi, mags,” you kiss your friend's cheek as she breaks apart and settles her arm around your waist, before reluctantly meeting your ex's gaze. you're irritated to see that he looks good. like, really good, something-twinging-between-your-legs good. get a grip! “matthew.”
“alright?” matty smiles at you, but it doesn't reach his eyes. “almost didn't recognise you. hair's shorter.”
you shrug. “wanted something different.”
“sounds like you.”
the snide comment slices through you. unlike last time, though, you don't tear up; you fire right back at him. “well, i'm at an age where i can afford to experiment.”
matty frowns, while jack and margaret burst into giggles. the latter kisses the side of your head. “god, you’re funny. i can't believe you were in the city all this time and you didn't tell us! i miss hanging out with you.”
“i was busy,” you place a cigarette between your lips, shaking hands trying and failing to successfully operate the lighter. matty wordlessly steps forward and does it for you - your cheeks burn as much as the cig does. “thank you.”
“don't,” matty waves it off, taking a long drag of his own cig before looking at you again. “so. you haven't been back home?”
“not since the last time you saw me,” you ash the cig, pointedly looking down at the ground. “there hasn't been any work for me to do, so there's nothing keeping me there, really.”
matty scoffs. “typical, you prioritising your job.”
“well, it's what you pay me for. you should be happy i care so much about my career, really, matty,” you smile, saccharine as summer peaches, before turning to jack and margaret. “anyway, how's wedding planning going?”
jack breaks into an excited soliloquy that you can only half focus on, hoping you're timing the oohing and aahing and awwing at his fiancée’s enthusiastic interjections right; most of your attention, you hate to say, is focused on the man opposite you, clearly - to you, at least - upset. the familiar guilt begins to gnaw at your ribcage, and you're thankful when margaret checks her watch and begins to usher you back inside.
matty, though, has other ideas. he touches your elbow, so lightly you barely feel it, and yet your body reacts as if he's punched you. “can i talk to you alone for a minute?”
panicked, you turn towards jack, who nods. “you still have a few minutes. i just need to go in to set up. see you in there!”
shit.
once you're alone with your ex, you move to brace yourself against the wall, folding your arms. “what?”
“why didn't you tell me you were in new york?”
“why would i?”
“well,” matty's voice falters; when he speaks again, it's almost a whisper. “i don't know. maybe we could've, like, gone for a drink. or you could've come down here to hang out.”
“again, why would i?” you tilt your head. “no offence, mate, but hanging out with my ex and his new girlfriend isn't exactly my idea of a fun time. or just hanging out with my ex full stop.”
“thanks for that,” matty grimaces.
you sigh. “look, i know you well enough to be able to read your cryptic fucking subtext. i've been alright, matty, i really have. i've been with friends.”
“you don't have any friends in new york.”
“and how the fuck would you know that? honest to fucking god,” you snap. “i didn't tell you everything about me…”
“i know that well enough.”
“...but, if you must know, one of my friends from home opened an exhibition in tribeca. orla.”
matty nods. “we went to her london opening together before… us, didn't we?”
the memory feels distant, as if from another life, but it hurts all the same. “yeah.”
“i would've liked to have gone to her show here, too. she's good.”
you smile genuinely for the first time, pride for your friend stronger than the fucked up pot of feelings you have towards matty. “it was really something. i helped set it up, actually. was fun.”
“really?” matty laughs; something cracks inside you when he does. “yeah, i can see you being good at that, actually.”
you look at the ground, still smiling, but less now. “been thinking about switching to it full-time. curation and stuff.”
“oh,” matty sounds crestfallen. you peek up at him to find that he looks it, too. “well… if that's what you want to do, i s'pose you should look into it,” he checks the time on his phone, while your heart sinks impossibly deeper. “it's starting soon. i'll head in now, and then if you-”
“wait thirty seconds before i follow you? yeah, i know the drill,” you smile lifelessly. “least you won't have to worry about that if i get a new job, yeah? you'll likely never have to see me again, let alone risk being seen with me.”
“i- anyway,” matty clears his throat, turning quickly away from you. “i should go.”
“okay,” the door closes behind him before you can even get the second syllable out, and there you are, alone again, in the suddenly-cold night air. you shakily exhale your cigarette for the last time, stubbing it out on the wall and stamping the butt with your high heel for good measure; once no trace of the flame remains, you go back inside.
for the rest of the night, part of you wishes you hadn't bothered. while hearing your favourite album is truly, genuinely brilliant, the experience is marred somewhat by your ex sitting in the seat opposite yours with taylor's head on his shoulder: you can't quite lipsync along to this love or clean or you are in love without your lips beginning to tremble, the new song now that we don't talk genuinely makes you nauseous when you figure out the lyrics, and actually hearing matty's voice on a vault track is painful beyond words.
but still, you clap, you fake smiles, you cheer for taylor and jack and the work they've put into the production. it's not easy, though, and you're thankful for the distraction when your phone buzzes with an invitation while you're alone at the drinks table grabbing another champagne.
“now i know you're not about to entertain a man who sent you an i miss you, come over text,” taylor’s voice sounds scandalised from behind you.
you turn, grinning, smile dropping slightly when you see she isn’t alone. “don't worry, i'm taking the piss out of him for it as we speak…”
“good.”
“...but i am gonna go and see him, in a minute,” you finish, looking down at your phone and giggling when you see a reply. “if that's alright, that is.”
matty raises his eyebrows the way he does before he opens his mouth, but taylor beats him to it. “look at you giggling at him! of course! go! but first,” she gently drags you to a nearby sofa and settles onto it, patting the seat beside her; you take it, while matty awkwardly settles himself on a footstool in front of you both. “tell me about him.”
“you really want to know?” you aren't quite sure which of them the question is directed at. taylor nods, and judging by matty's expression he's also curious, so you sigh and keep talking. “well, his name is michael. he's a playwright. we met through friends. he's lived in new york his whole life. he seems slightly obsessed with me, but in a good way - so far, at least. he's very sweet.”
“a playwright? that's cool,” taylor grins. “what does he look like?”
“a bit like andrew garfield, actually,” you laugh, looking down at your phone again. “and he's offering to meet me at a bar, so it's probably time for me to be on my way.”
“sure. have fun, stay safe,” she pulls you into a hug; you see matty wince, out of the corner of your eye. “thank you so much for coming. when do you go back home?”
“not until the end of the month. i don't know if i'm actually going on the festival run, yet,” you shrug. “but i'll go home before it, just in case.”
“it's a lot, isn't it?”
taylor, babe, you don't even know the half of it. “yeah. it won't be easy.”
she hums. “we should hang out before you go. nothing crazy, just dinner or drinks or something. like, something fun, before you have to go back to keeping a record label running,” she nudges matty, who smiles quickly but continues looking at the floor. “i'll call you, okay?”
“that sounds good,” you stretch. “right, i really should go - the bar is a twenty-minute walk from here and i said i'd meet michael in fifteen.”
matty tuts. “he's knowingly letting you walk alone to meet him at half ten at night? no. absolutely not.”
you roll your eyes. “for god's sake, i'll be fine. i'm an adult!”
“yeah, babe, but still,” taylor’s eyes are wide. “take a car! for our peace of mind, at least.”
our. you do your best not to shudder, and smile instead. “if you're sure…”
“she's sure,” matty nods. “get it to take you back to your… whatever it is you're staying in after your drink, too.”
“i mean, i'm going back to his,” you look matty dead in the eye when you say it, and the sadness that fills his is impossible to miss. christ, what is his deal? “but thanks. anyway,” you hug taylor before you stand. “thanks again for tonight. i'll see you soon,” you nod at matty. “and i'll… see you at finsbury, definitely. maybe sooner. i don't know. there'll be an email soon confirming what's happening. bye.”
much to your chagrin, matty stands too. “i'll walk you out. make sure you actually get in the car - i know what you're like.”
for fuck's sake. “alright. bye, taylor!” you wave as you move towards the door.
“bye, babe!”
you walk quickly through the corridors, trying to keep some distance between you and matty. annoyingly, though, he matches your pace, and speaks. “so… michael.”
the vitriol practically drips from his tongue. you scoff. “what about him?”
“tell me more about him. what’s he like?”
“he's my age,” you pointedly don’t look at matty when you say that, but you hear the way his breath catches in his throat. the guilt begins gnawing again; you keep talking to distract yourself from it. “he's ridiculously american, which means he doesn't get my sense of humour sometimes, but as soon as he found out i lived in london he took the piss and started calling me ‘princess’.”
the word leaves your mouth before you can stop it; as soon as it does, you bite the insides of your lips together, guilt spreading to every bone in your body. tentatively, you look round at matty, who's stopped walking in favour of looking at the ground and clasping his hands behind his neck. everything about him radiates hurt, and it only worsens when he quietly speaks. “he calls you what?”
you can't bring yourself to say it again. “you heard me, matty.”
“wish i fucking hadn't,” your ex looks up at you again, and you know he's about to verbally lash out; he looks exactly the same as he did before you split. “you really let him call you that? my name for you?”
“think you lost all rights to that the day you dumped me, to be honest, mate.”
“fucking hate it when you call me that. stop it.”
“well, i'm sure as shit not going to resort to what i used to call you, am i?”
matty laughs mirthlessly. it's the worst sound you've ever heard. “no, you've got michael for that now.”
“no, i haven't,” you're loathe to admit what you're about to say, but you really want him to feel bad. “haven't slept with him yet - or anyone, for that matter, since you broke up with me,” you glance at matty, who looks rightfully sheepish, and decide to just fuck with him even further. “but maybe i will tonight. s'about time i felt good about myself.”
“you know, you've been really fucking snide today. i don't know what i've done to deserve it.”
you stop dead in your tracks, turning to face him in total bewilderment. “well, aside from the whole, y'know, dumping me at the first sign of disagreement, you fucking started it with the arsey comments today, matty. sounds like you? fuck off.”
he shrugs. “but it does. you don't want what i want, so… why bother keeping this going?”
you huff, pushing the door to the staircase open. “i never said i didn't want to get married and have kids, by the way.”
“what? yes you-”
“no, i didn't,” you smile sadly. “all i said was that i was unsure, and because it wasn't me immediately saying yes to something for the first time in our relationship, you took it as a no.”
matty's shaking his head. “no, that-that's not-”
“yes it is, sweetheart,” the tears are beginning to prick at your eyes; matty's too, you can see. “that's what happened.”
“but you freaked out so much…”
“because you sprung it on me, out of the blue! come on, matty,” you can feel your jaw trembling. “you would've done the same, if a partner had asked you that question when you were my age.”
matty sniffles. “please stop bringing up the age gap, darling.”
the pet name enrages you; it's agonising how natural it sounds coming from his lips, and even more painful how automatically your body reacts to it. “well, i can't not, given that it's what fucked us up, in the end,” you take a deep breath, and walk out the side door onto the street. it's fairly quiet, you're relieved to see. “besides - i thought you liked it? that was my appeal, wasn't it? being young, and pretty, and naive, so fucking naive. a meek little toy, something you could play with however you wanted without fear of it rebelling against what you wanted. because that's really all that matters, isn't it, what you want? course it is, because when that was threatened, you stopped wanting me.”
hot tears are hitting your cheeks with increasing speed, but your voice somehow stays strong, unwavering, controlled; the same can't be said for matty, who's crying just as much as you. “no, no, that's not true, not at all, please don't say that.”
“but that's what it feels like,” your voice cracks into a sob. “you didn't even want to talk to me about it. you were just... fine with letting me go. i didn't think you could ever be so cruel to someone you claim to have loved, once, matty. especially not someone who loves you as much as i do,” sniffling, you wipe your eyes and open a car door, quickly telling the driver the address of the bar before turning back to matty. “i appreciate you getting taylor to invite me tonight, but i think it was a mistake; we can't be friends, you and i, we really can't. i'm sorry, it just… hurts,” you check the time. “i need to go. take care.”
it's too warm in the car. you roll the window down slightly. you can hear matty crying from halfway down the street.

A wild Beas emerges from her hibernation bleary eyed and blinking as the winter turns to early spring the trees whisper, “where you been loca,” and all is well.
TIS BEEN A MONTH BUT I AM BACK ~ in the world of Beas, did a big thing at work, learned to ski, celebrated another year around the sun, hit a big ao3 milestone, had the worst writers block the first quarter of the year, got stressy and depressy with the winter, and now … and now SPRING HAS ARRIVED AND I AM LIKE A PLANT EMERGING FROM THE SOIL, here and hopefully ready to be perceived again.
Sharing not one snippet but TWO to come back in style ;)))
Little Drummerboy
The language is crude, but his filter is decimated by the truth universally acknowledged that he is a man in want of being wanted one fucking time in his life without everyone leaving him. He doesn’t think that is too much to ask, but the universe has never been so kind as to give him human connection that wasn’t fraught with disaster every step of the way. To be known by the masses but to never be known wholly. To have those screaming his praises in the hundreds of thousands, but nobody to hold him at night when the shivers wrack his body and the demons come out to play.
The Kiss List
It is an undisputed fact of life on the Georgetown campus that Alex Claremont Diaz has a pair of lips and he knows exactly how to use them. Henry Fox, the ex-facto roommate extraordinaire of the “most kissable lips on campus” is entirely aware of just how good of a kisser Alex is. Not through any experience of his own as much as he hates to say it. No. Alex, his dear, sweet, delusional roommate of three years, has a kiss list. A color coded rank and file excel sheet with coding more complex than what it took to get the first mission to mars up and running. Henry can’t pretend to understand it when Alex comes back into the room giddy as all get out and pulls up the file. He has had a shotgun seat to the rollercoaster that has been Alex’s kissing conundrum over the last few semesters on campus.
Thank you to all of the insanely talented people who have tagged me this past month while I’ve not been around … your tags and enthusiasm for writing has fueled me through my hibernation, I will be catching up and back-reading just you wait ;)))

Diahann Carroll Vs. Rue McClanahan
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda
Diahann Carroll - (Dynasty, Julia) - God every clip of her on Dynasty is just so iconic, her entrance, the bit where she shades Joan Collins' Alexis for her taste in caviar... "I wanted to be the first black bitch on television" she said, and she did it beautifully!
Rue McClanahan - (Golden Girls, Maude, Mama's Family) - Listen to me. I have never understood celebrity crushes until I first witnessed Rue McClanahan. She's the most beautiful woman I've ever seen - just look at her!! Gorgeous eyes, the cutest nose, a SPECTACULAR smile - she has this adorable, princess-like quality about her AND she's also a complete hottie AND she's aware of it: she HAS THE RANGE, people!! Her two most famous roles are polar opposites, in fact: she starred in the role of naive, gentle Vivian Cavender-Harmon in Maude (and I mean. Just look her up and tell me that's not an angel!), and then went on to gain even more well-deserved fame and success as the seductive, extroverted Blanche Devereaux in The Golden Girls (a role for which she won an Emmy in 1987 - her amazing, hilarious acceptance speech can be found here: . I should also point out that both of these are comedy characters and she is HILARIOUS as them both - the comedic timing, the delivery, the expressions, she was a comedy queen!!! As for her personal life, she was just a darling - and also very funny in person, not just in her acting roles! She was a staunch supporter of gay rights and a big advocate for same-sex marriage in the US, as well as a vegetarian and a big defender of animal rights. She suffered from illness in her later years which greatly impacted her health, but she was still very active up until her death in 2010, and she even released a wonderful autobiography in 2007 titled "My First Five Husbands... and the Ones Who Got Away". In her interviews she's always gentle, soft-spoken (her voice. dear god. sweet mother Aphrodite I cannot weave I am overcome with gay thoughts), and kind, but also sharp, witty, and just a delight to watch. I could go on forever talking about her honestly. I am actually in love with her and you should be too. She's just the best! Here, have some additional pics: (pics below the cut)

Rue McClanahan:
The Hottie™ of the Golden Girls, she was definitely a GILF. And her character's shenanigans were Emmy-winning but no less fun and her outfits were always on point and gorgeous, befitting her perfectly.
Tumblr media
she!!!

as Vivian, with her fellow hottie Bea Arthur as Maude
Tumblr media
as Blanche - look at those eyes!!!
Tumblr media
come on, tell me you wouldn't do anything for that smile, I dare you
Tumblr media
in her contract she specifically requested to be given all of Blanche's clothes and SHE WAS RIGHT
Tumblr media
Okay so first of all. Rue has this way of moving around and looking at you that just-- I mean, I'm ace, but I *get* the allos. She's hot and she knows it (and she plays a character in The Golden Girls who's in her 50s, hot, and knows it as well. Which, talk about perfect casting??) But I'm mostly here to talk about the fact that she said this in her Emmy acceptance speech (paraphrased because I'm sharing the video with the right timestamp, and you should absolutely watch up until 3:40, because her delivery is UNMATCHED): "My mother said to me once [...] 'Oh, Eddi-Rue, for heaven's sake. Don't you know every kick's a boost?' There've been a lot of kicks, and there've been a lot of boosts. I'm not going to mention the people who gave me kicks... but you know who you are. And you'll be in the book." (Seriously though, do yourself a favour and watch that video. She's amazing!!) She said this, and proceeded to WRITE THE BOOK, titled "My first five husbands, and the ones who got away", which is *incredibly* funny, and such an earnest look into her life. She opens the acknowledgements with "This book is about my life and experiences as I lived them, and anyone who doesn't like it can jolly well lump it." And I mean... she's awesome. I could go on.

9 Queer Reads We Love for the Holidays!
Tumblr media
The holiday season is upon us! No matter what you celebrate at this time (if anything at all), what better way is there to spend those long, cold evenings—or hot, summer afternoons—than curled up with a great book? How to Excavate a Heart by Jake Maia Arlow

It could be going better.
But when a dog-walking gig puts her back in May’s path, the fossils she’s meant to be diligently studying are pushed to the side—along with the breakup.
Then they’re snowed in together on Christmas Eve. As things start to feel more serious, though, Shani’s hurt over her ex-girlfriend’s rejection comes rushing back. Is she ready to try a committed relationship again, or is she okay with this just being a passing winter fling?
-

Written in the Stars by Alexandria Bellefleur
After a disastrous blind date, Darcy Lowell is desperate to stop her well-meaning brother from playing matchmaker ever again. Love — and the inevitable heartbreak — is the last thing she wants. Elle Jones, one of the astrologers behind the popular Twitter account Oh My Stars, dreams of finding her soul mate. When Darcy’s brother — and Elle’s new business partner — expresses how happy he is that they hit it off, Elle is baffled. Was Darcy on the same date? Because… awkward.
Darcy begs Elle to play along and she reluctantly agrees to pretend they’re dating. The last thing they expect is to develop real feelings during a faux relationship. But maybe opposites can attract when true love is written in the stars?

Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo
That book. It was about two women, and they fell in love with each other. And then Lily asked the question that had taken root in her, that was even now unfurling its leaves and demanding to be shown the sun: Have you ever heard of such a thing?
Seventeen-year-old Lily Hu can’t remember exactly when the question took root, but the answer was in full bloom the moment she and Kathleen Miller walked under the flashing neon sign of a lesbian bar called the Telegraph Club.
America in 1954 is not a safe place for two girls to fall in love, especially not in Chinatown. Red-Scare paranoia threatens everyone, including Chinese Americans like Lily. With deportation looming over her father–despite his hard-won citizenship–Lily and Kath risk everything to let their love see the light of day.

‘dr. silva is still in the tumor resection?’
it’s only, like, your fifth week being a doctor, so there are so many things you don’t know all the time; you add dr. villaumbrosia asking this question to the list. still, she’s kind of the scariest person you’ve ever met in your life — unflappable and a little mean to everyone but her patients and their families, talented and whip-smart beyond belief, willing to take on the hardest cases — and so you answer anyway with a nod. you only know this because zaire promised he would come find you just after he’d finished with dr. silva — to celebrate at the bar down the street and hopefully more than that too — but you don’t add that; you don’t think dr. villaumbrosia would appreciate it all that much.
‘okay,’ she says, more shaken than you’ve ever seen her.
‘is something… did something go wrong, or?’
‘with ava’s surgery, no, i don’t think so.’
ava is new; you’re not embarrassed to admit that you and basically your whole intern class has been keeping track of who’s with whom amongst the attendings, so you know they’re all either dating or friends or some kind of family. still, dr. villaumbrosia never uses first names at work.
‘there’s a trauma being flown in,’ she continues. ‘there was an avalanche, and dr. choi was skiing in the backcountry today. i don’t — i don’t know more details.’ she worries her hands for a moment. ‘she hasn’t answered her sat phone.’
‘oh,’ is the best you’ve got, disarmed by the obvious fear that lingers around every inch of her.
‘dr. silva can’t know, if she does come in. not until after he’s finished the hardest part of the procedure and can pass it off.’
not that you were going to be the one to randomly decide to go to dr. silva’s OR and say any of this, but you nod. ‘of course.’
‘i need you to go check on tai; she’s in daycare.’
‘uh, i don’t — i’ve never —‘
dr. villaumbrosia waves you off. ‘she’s cute. looks like choi, acts like silva.’
when you don’t respond immediately, dr. villaumbrosia just glares. ‘yeah, of course,’ you hurry to say.
‘and then i need you to go to the ER for the trauma. dr. masters already knows you’re coming; you’re going to see what’s going on and tell me and no one else. got it?’
‘yes, dr. villaumbrosia. will do.’
‘great.’
to be honest, you have no idea where the daycare even is, and this certainly isn’t what you went to a bazillion years of school for, but whatever. maybe this will get you on dr. villaumbrosia’s good side.
‘and dr. al-najjar?’
you nod.
‘i know this seems ridiculous. but dr. choi is — she’s my favorite person. it’s important.’
you understand in your own way: you facetime your little brother every day, no matter how tired you are, no matter how late or early it is for you. ‘i’ll tell you everything as soon as i can.’
‘good.’
/
tai is, apparently, a fourteen month old, very cute toddler, who really does look like dr. choi. when you explain, very briefly, to one of the daycare teacher that dr. villaumbrosia sent you to see how she’s doing, make sure she’s okay, she nods and shows you over to an area of the room with soft mats and some wooden blocks. tai smiles at you, all baby teeth and big cheeks, and says mostly nonsense but a few words — blocks, doctor, mama — and then promptly knocks over her block tower with definite glee.
you snap a nice, cute picture of tai smiling in her little giraffe hoodie and send it off to dr. villaumbrosia. you’ve never been a baby guy, and you’re certain she isn’t either, because there’s no way you could ever possibly choose her specialty if you were, but she loves the photo anyway — the first and only time she’ll ever respond to a text from you like that, you’re absolutely certain — and it makes you smile, just for a moment. when you wave goodbye to tai she laughs, and you hope, very concretely, that she goes home with both of her parents tonight, or soon, at least, that her family stays as full and happy and warm as it had been this morning.
/
you feel genuinely nervous and way too invested: you’ve met dr. choi in passing a handful of times, and she’d assisted on one of dr. villaumbrosia’s surgeries once that you’d gotten to hold a retractor for, but according to emma — the best gossip and also dr. choi’s favorite intern, allegedly — says that dr. choi is kind and quiet and a wonderful teacher, patient and skilled and efficient. you’d been looking forward to being on her service soon, honestly, and, even in the past few weeks, you’re starting to understand that the people here, that you spend so much time with, are starting to feel like family.
dr. masters nods at you, her braids already tucked away beneath a cap, trauma gown on. you’re on peds, so you don’t know if you’re really here to help with anything — dr. villaumbrosia wasn’t called down for any consults, still set for the routine bowel repair she’d been scheduled for this afternoon, so you’re fairly certain there weren’t any children coming in — but she gestures toward the gown and gloves anyway.
‘just in case we need more hands on deck,’ she says as way of explanation. ‘there’s four people, and we don’t really know the extent of their injuries.’
you nod — what else is there to say — and things are very, very still until dr. masters gets a page and then everything is moving — loudly, organized, seamless — and you’re in awe, for a moment, of dr. masters’ ER. you love trauma surgery and she’s, like, kind of the biggest badass in the country, and it’s pretty fucking cool to watch her very quickly get everyone exactly where they need to be in the amount of time it takes for her to walk to the elevator that leads up to the helipad.
the wind whips from the blades when the doors open, rainy and miserable, and your heart is caught in your throat when the door opens. you see dr. masters’ hands shake, although you’d never, ever mention it, locked behind her back in tight fists, until dr. choi’s face — a bruise along her jaw, a scrape that runs underneath her eye, all the way into her hair, the tip of her nose and the tips of her ears a painful red, probably from frostbite — comes into view.
dr. choi, strapped into a stretcher, covered in a blanket and hooked up to an IV, immediately starts talking, before the stretcher is even fully out of the helicopter. ‘the three coming out,’ she starts, ‘i dug them out as much as i could. i did an emergency thoracostomy on david, you need to push a ton of antibiotics. anna needs to go to the OR immediately for her pelvis, make sure cam —‘
‘—beatrice,’ dr. masters says, rushing to her side and, if you were to bet, wanting to sink to her knees in relief. ‘oh my god.’
‘i’m fine,’ dr. choi says, annoyed at being made to stay on the stretcher. ‘i properly deployed my avalanche airbag. but mary, listen —‘
dr. masters holds dr. choi’s face in her hands and then kisses the top of dr. choi’s head. it’s tender, and you wonder how long they’ve known each other to afford that level of intimacy, that level of care. ‘i got them, bea. i promise. we gotta take care of you too or ava will kill me.’
dr. choi relaxes, just minutely, but you can tell — maybe because you would trust dr. masters with your life or anyone else’s, maybe at the mention of dr. silva, maybe some combination of both — and she nods.
dr. masters rolls her eyes and kisses the top of dr. choi’s head once more. ‘stupid hero. let me go make all your hard work worthwhile.’
dr. choi smiles, definitely reassured now. ‘you better.’
/
you’re not surprised, exactly, that chief superion is waiting to take over dr. choi’s care, but you are a little surprised when dr. superion squeezes her shoulder gently and smiles, a little sad.
‘ava is still in surgery, so let’s get the worst of it taken care of before she’s done, yes?’
dr. choi nods, growing more exhausted by the minute. which is fair, you think, as she tells dr. superion — and you, because you’re stuck in this room until you have a real report for dr. villaumbrosia beyond the text you’d sent that just said Dr. Choi is talking and moving, no head or neck injuries — about how the avalanche airbag had worked, even if it was frightening; about how her transceiver, according to SAR, had helped them get there faster than they would have otherwise.
‘ava always teased me about how expensive the gear was, but look who’s laughing now.’
‘well, to be fair,’ dr. superion says, looking at dr. choi’s x-rays, ‘i don’t think either of you are laughing.’
‘oh, yikes,’ dr. choi says, looking at the films too. she’s on a fair amount of pain medicine at this point, but she’s right: there’s a few nasty fractures along the bones in her left wrist. but, other than those and a few cracked ribs and some mild frostbite on her nose, ears, and the tips of her fingers, it seems like it’s just cuts and bruises: nothing she won’t heal from, and far better off than the others who came in with her.
‘i, uh — sorry,’ you say, feeling like you’re interrupting, but they both just shake their heads, waving off your apology. ‘dr. villaumbrosia sent me to see if you’re okay, and i’m supposed to go talk to her once i know. which, i guess i know now.’ not your best work, and in front of the chief, but oh well.
dr. choi smiles fondly. ‘thank you for telling me. i’ll never let lilith forget it.’
dr. superion doesn’t smile, but it seems like she wants to. ‘go ahead, dr. al-najjar. you can tell her that we’re admitting dr. choi to ortho; dr. alvarez will operate tomorrow, once the swelling has gone down.’
‘and tell lilith i love her too.’
‘i — uh—‘
dr. superion laughs. ‘go, dr. al-najjar.’
/
you’ve just finished your report to dr. villaumbrosia — in the middle of a surgery, but it’s clear her shoulders relax immediately, continuing to operate smoothly — when dr. silva flings open the door of the OR.
‘hello ava,’ dr. villaumbrosia says, not even looking up from the stitch she’s putting in. ‘she’s okay.’
dr. silva, breathing so hard her mask is getting sucked into her mouth and nose, doubles over, her hands on her knees. ‘i gotta do more cardio, oh my god,’ he mumbles, then takes a deep breath and stands. ‘you’re sure?’
‘yes,’ dr. villaumbrosia, ‘i had dr. al-najjar make sure personally. he also checked on tai; she’s doing great.’
‘very cute,’ you say and then debate just quitting residency here altogether, but dr. silva smiles at you.
‘thanks man,’ she says. ‘sorry you missed this surgery.’
‘the bowel was perforated,’ dr. villaumbrosia says. ‘it was quite disgusting, to be honest.’
‘well then,’ dr. silva says, ‘hey, you’re welcome! you got to see my adorable kid and my sexy wife. who, as lovely as your company always is, lil, i’m gonna go see now.’
‘she deployed that avalanche airbag, dug three other people out, and did a field chest tube by the time SAR got there.’
‘hot.’
‘insane, actually,’ dr. villaumbrosia says. ‘but give her my love.’
/
two days later you’re back on shift — after drinks and truly, genuinely great sex with zaire that still ended up happening despite everything, god bless — and you swing by ortho before you go up to peds. you’re not friends with dr. choi or dr. silva, but you do want to see how things are going anyway. your mom always says it’s better to be kinder than necessary, and you’re starting to believe it.
they’re an adorable family, you think, tai showing dr. choi her lion stuffy and babbling excitedly, sitting on the hospital bed between her legs, turning every now and then toward dr. silva in a chair by her bedside. dr. choi, her arm in a brace and a sling, looks pretty good overall: her eyes seem clear, the bruises along her jaw are already starting to turn green and yellow, a great sign of healing, and the redness on her nose and ears has lessened considerably.
also, she’s sitting up and talking animatedly, clearly happy with her daughter and her wife there. from her chart — you looked it up in the system before you came, whatever — you’re pretty sure she’s going to get to go home today, which you suspect is what the small duffle bag by dr. silva’s feet is for.
‘all i’m saying,’ you hear from dr. silva, ’is that your nose could’ve fallen off.’
‘ava,’ dr. choi says, exasperated and laughing.
dr. silva sits back and pouts, exaggerating with crossed arms.
‘i will be more careful,’ dr. choi concedes, but it doesn’t feel much like a concession the way she smiles at tai and then runs a gentle hand over her wispy hair. emma — who is an incredible gossip but you’re starting to think she also just has a giant crush — had told you and zaire that dr. choi is, like, an experienced outdoors person with certifications in all kinds of different safety courses and activities; you know she and dr. villaumbrosia have done stints with MSF together too.
‘good,’ dr. silva says. ‘because lord knows i cannot raise tai by myself.’
dr. choi frowns, then offers her good hand to dr. silva, who scoots closer and takes it with a kiss to her scraped knuckles.
‘plus, while i would deal, obviously, you’d probably be less hot if your nose fell off.’
‘“probably”?’
dr. silva shrugs. ‘i love you.’
‘i love you too.’
‘would you still love me if my nose fell off?’
‘ava.’
/
‘good morning, dr. al-najjar,’ dr. choi says when you knock lightly on the open door of her office. it’s impeccably neat, a few pictures of dr. silva and tai on her desk. she’s wearing the brace on her wrist still but no sling; her bruises and frostbite have faded. in her scrubs and white coat and clogs, a fresh buzzcut and a cup of coffee in her good hand, she looks exactly the surgeon you’ve looked forward to working with.
‘good morning, dr. choi. welcome back.’
she smiles and closes her office door, starts leading you down the hall. ‘thank you. and, apologizes in advance that you won’t have any surgeries with me for the next two weeks until i’m officially cleared.’ she rolls her eyes.
‘that’s okay,’ you say. ‘more sleep, honestly.’
‘true. and,’ she says, opening a door to the most incredible, brand new lab you’ve ever seen, ‘i can promise that the research we’ll get to work on will be worth it.’
‘i always thought i would go into trauma,’ you tell her, ‘but i think i just fell in love.’
she grins. ‘the heart wants what it wants.’
you pause a moment but then you can’t help yourself: you laugh.
‘in that case,’ she says, ‘let me show you around, and let’s get to work.’

Dearest Lamp,
Spooky season is upon us, do you have any Strange Husbands thoughts to share to commemorate the occasion?
*hands you a muffin*
-nibbling on the muffin-
Ah, yes, the nerds who decided to get married on Halloween; Special and Cowbell!
I've got a couple thoughts, so let's go.
-They decided to renew their vows this year on Mischief Night, so not on Halloween proper, but the day before, mostly because they want to enjoy the festivities without cutting into them too much.
It's a smaller ceremony than their wedding was, and it's a bit more of an intimate/friends only sort of deal.
-The actual celebration takes place in the ruined chapel in the forest, which they had decorated with Halloween themed floral arrangements and candles, all of which was set up by the earth ghouls, plus one tiny human gardener who convinced them to use electric candles since, well... the chapel did burn down that one time.
-Although their guest list was pretty small, there was a few spectral visitors hanging around during the party; The forest near the abbey is haunted beyond all belief, and sometimes all the ghosts want is a bit of entertainment.
Nobody really noticed, and Special and Cowbell certainly weren't bothered by it, but reports say say of the human guests felt a touch uneasy due to a "cold draft", but, ehn, it is fall after all.
-Fashion wise, neither of them went for anything super flashy, but they do compliment each other's outfit; Special wore black and purple with web motifs, and Cowbell wore green and black with bat motifs, which turned out a lot more tame/tasteful than that sounds in theory.
The guests were asked to dress semi-formal/in something comfortable for being outside, because the chapel kind of doesn't have a roof... or windows... or much of a wall over there...
-On the topic of the venue; Mountain and Bea installed trellises to support some hanging plants/to replace the missing wall sections and to make the space more cozy, and added in little statutes to hide the tiny heaters they brought to keep the guests from absolutely freezing.
Special wanted hanging lights, but didn't want a bunch of wires strung up everywhere/hiding the view of the stars, so they both had to brainstorm how to make that magic happen; The answer was plants.
Lots and lots of plants.
-Back to the couple themselves; The actual vow renewal doesn't take super long all told, but the after party? The after party was several hours long, and Cowbell and Special spent the majority of it dancing and generally just being obsessed with each other in their own weird way...
Let the records show, also, in the "lost party footage" that they both cried from laughing too hard when they got surprised with a cake that had their original wedding date on it, except the bakery fucked up and wrote, "Congratulations Colin and Stephen" and Cowbell asked, "Surely I'm Stephen, right?" to which Special mused allowed how they fucked up the name Phil so bad...
And lastly;
-Cowbell and Special both left before the party officially ended, because they were like, "It'd be soooo funny." and snuck off to... get ready for bed together and go to sleep.
Yeah, no fooling around on Mischief Night ironically, the pair are off to bed, tucked into each other's arms, blissfully sleeping while their guests create future hangovers.
Some of the guests got wise and left once they saw them sneaking off (Bea, Bea left, but mostly because she will take any opportunity to leave a party), but the majority of them shambled out of the woods at daybreak looking like they'd been lost in the woods for days.
...Then again, they never did find that one sister of sin... Hm.
