She was definitely ahead of her time, as an artist and as a person. This Italian baroque artist was famous for her gory paintings depicting women empowerment and revenge. Her painting Judith and Her Maidservant depicts a scene from the Book of Judith, where Judith murders the general Holofernes after seducing him.
