I think it's a bit silly that a lot of people have to specify that mcshep is better, before talking about another pair like:

"Obviously mcshep is better BUT-"

Come on guys, the ship wars are over, our fandom is old now, so let's not walk on eggshells about our ships. It's just popular ships and unpopular ships, popular does not mean better. So, let's not hurt or judge others for not being mcshep shippers.

I have literally had people send me msgs about how they feel comfortable with me because I don't judge their ships, or that they had to anon because they can't deal with the potential backlash, that they are scared to post non-mcshep posts/fics/whatever. (I've been there before as well.)

So, if you don't add in that little note about mcshep being better, or if you just don't ship them in general. Then listen:

It's okay to like other ships. Do your thing!

And if people send you hate for it, then they can just go fuck themselves. 💛🦊💚✌️

I live in South West Florida which was devastated by Hurricane Ian two years ago and killed about 150 people.

Nobody evacuated because it was suposed to hit 2 hours north of us.

We were told Not to evacuate to keep the roads clear for the people in the danger zone north of us.

There's only so many roads out of Florida.

In 2018 Huricane Irma hit and my grandparents who lived in Ft Myers evacuated.

It took 14 hours and every ounce of strength they had to get to the georiga border.

There were no hotels, no shelters open for them. No where to rest or recover and they swore they would never evacuate again.

Irma barely touch their neighborhood and they felt they were completely physically and emotionally exhausted for no reason.

Hurricane Ian saw over 5ft of water sweep through their neighborhood.

They were 5mins from the bridge to Sanibel island in a neighborhood of age 65+ (more like 80+) it was all tiny manufactured homes and trailers and rvs.

Most of those homes are gone now. A handful of people died there in the aftermath from heart attacks and infections to wounds (the clean up process was heart breaking and dangerous) the surge waters took a while to receed.

The stories I could tell about Hurricane Ian.

Please have a heart and don't talk shit about anyone effected by natural disasters.

This week it is Florida, but the same applies.

It didn’t hit me until recently that people genuinely think Kamala Harris was a police officer because of all the people who call her a cop online.

Like I think maybe it’s important people should know she was a prosecutor. She was once a district attorney and later an attorney general for the state of California. And we can discuss how related that is to police work and how tied she is to the carceral system etc etc (but for fairness would have to include her record of pushing for lowering incarceration rates through programs helping former prisoners + her office refusing to jail folks for low level weed offense). But she was never a police officer. Like people should get that clear. Kamala Harris was never a police officer. She was a district attorney. She was never a police officer.

not to sound like a boomer, but I need some people to learn how to write emails in a semi-professional (at the very least) format so you're not cold emailing a business/potential employer/any other stranger about formal matters in the exact same way you'd DM a close friend on instagram

the formality/language can loosen up in the email chain once you've established a rapport and you match the other person if they're being less formal, but please don't have the very first email you send a stranger be written in all lowercase ultra-casual sms slang with no greeting or signature and a billion emojis

However, it’s not like we aren’t going to have any kids join this site. I’ve already seen some join before the ban was imminent and most of them are children fandom artists. I stand by what I said, be nice to them.

If they don’t understand the culture here, teach them in a way that isn’t outright rude! Tell them about the lack of an algorithm and the fact they have to follow people for content! Tell them reblogs are more important than likes! Tell them they can leave notes for the OP or for the person they reblogged it from in the tags; that you can treat it like a little diary if you want!

And most of all, tell them that it’s okay, they don’t have to censor themselves here. After years of being on that app they’ve grown used to it, but you have to get it through their head that censoring words like ‘Kill’ ‘Murder’ ‘Rape’ ‘Pedophile’ isn’t helping ANYONE, they’re just making it harder for folks who have those tags blocked to be able to filter them out. Help them kill the cop in their brain and make sure they don’t fall into purity culture. Help them be cringe and free.

one of the most frustrating things about the neil gaiman situation (and others like it) is people who were fans immediately moving to a different person to idolise ('well, at least we still have x author' or 'please tell me y author is still a good person') and in this situation specifically, 'terry pratchett would be furious'. no!!! you do not know!!!you have no idea whether terry pratchett or any author you like was/is a predator! you cannot take a situation in which a man's public persona as a feminist and supporter of women allowed him to prey on vulnerable women without suspicion and then look at all the other men who portray themselves as good people and say 'well, these ones are still okay though.' just stop idolising celebrities!!!!!!!
