here's what I think should happen to make this as ridiculously soapy as possible, a kind of love... hexagon? heptagon? some sparks between Ross and Charity causing drama between Mackity, driving Mack closer to Aaron, them "discovering" (I think they already know) feelings for each other, drama between Johnron, have Charity seek comfort with Vanessa to also include her, and then while Aaron is trying to choose between John and Mack, Rob comes back.
🤡🤡

catching up on this week's episodes and
throwing myself into the abyss that vinny tells aaron that he likes being in the village because it keeps him close to liv and the memories of their life together and aaron responds by immediately forcing his way into staying at the mill where he lived with robert (and liv and seb)
#yeah yeah you can make this about being close to liv#but this was the home robert built! this was all theirs! this was their memories!#emmerdale

Something I am curious about
#poll#I don't like Emmerdale whatsoever but know people that do#It's a pretty huge thing here in Britain#but I don't often hear about it outside of like. chatter with old ladies#so i assume that it is not at all on the radar of americans. doubly so my silly little creature corner#but I've been wrong before so I'm curious on that statistic#If you are not from UK or US you can specify your country in the notes if you like

Another long post ahead, because I was thinking about what the audience wants to see vs what Emmerdale wants to show.
Fans: We don't want to see animal abuse on the show.
The show: Piper will be a continued focus in the story, this wouldn't be as much of an issue if we had picked an "uglier dog".
Fans: Please don't drag this Belle story out much longer.
The show: The story will go on for like another 6 months, i.e. it's only halftime really.
Fans: We don't like Vanessa and Suzy together.
The show: Vanessa and Suzy are moving in together.
Fans: But we want Charity and Vanessa back together.
The show: Charity is with her soulmate, Mackenzie.
Fans: Mary and Suzy have chemistry!
The show: Mary might get another love interest soon.
Fans: Please, no more (especially unplanned ones, it's 2024!) pregnancy storylines for a while!
The show: Ella will come back pregnant with Liam's baby.
Fans: But we liked Liam with Chas!
The show: See above answer.
Fans: We are interested to see what's next for Aaron, since you brought him back and built him a new set.
The show: Aaron will only appear in like 7 episodes between April and July. But then we might put him with Robert's brother.
Fans: It would be great if Seb was brought back to the village for Aaron to raise.
The show: Seb? We only mentioned him that one time to make Aaron understand that biological parents hurt more when children are taken away.
Fans: Good on Jai for getting revenge on evil Amit over Rishi's death, we loved Rishi.
The show: Jai will be punished, he's a bad person, he'll lose his wife and family over this.
Fans: Is Angel coming back with a new face after going to prison?
The show: No. Same face.
Fans: We need a bit more lighthearted stories.
The show: Lots of more hard hitting stories coming up still. We can certainly throw in some comical scenes featuring the show's best partnership Marlon and Paddy, or our best comedic performance winner, Mandy!
Fans: The show needs more Sugdens to counter all the Dingles.
The show: Ok, here is a new brother for Victoria (and Robert), but we'll make him gay, and the only other gay character in the village at this time is Aaron. But who will catch John's eye??
Fans: Would be cool if the show brought back some old characters for the 10 000th episode.
The show: We are honoring some past characters by dressing up scarecrows to look like them. You're welcome.

i kinda feel for Ryan though - his first 'big' role since emmerdale and the comments on his insta are all "good, now you can come back to emmerdale." and "please come back to emmerdale"
i mean I agree, but it's probably not what he wanted to read

You know what? I don't think Ryan can even save Emmerdale at this point.
If by some mystical power Ryan does come back then the robron reunion will be hyped up to all levels by the media only for it to probably be a singular, short scene with them sharing a subtle head nod towards one another.
I'm merely judging it off last night's episode. I thought we were finally going to get some emotion out of John and between them both but there was N O T H I N G.

A lovely new interview with Jenna Coleman about her upcoming leading role as Ember Manning in The Jetty!
It talks about some of the topics and themes discussed in The Jetty, and Jenna talks about her character of Ember Manning, who got a daughter in her teens with an older man, is a recent widow, and is reopening a cold case from 17 years earlier.
Jenna talks about how she always seeks out roles that are polar opposites of what she did before, how she was wary of playing a detective, and thought she couldn’t do it, and also didn’t want to fall into the trap of repeating stereotypes.
I love that Jenna always seeks out new roles, rather than being typecast. That she’s shy but always looks forward to a challenge. That she keeps proving her incredible acting ability in all her many vastly different roles, then gets sent similar roles, but instead looks for the polar opposite roles.
The interview also explores many of her past roles. She talks about how she kept to slump while being in Emmerdale to not be recognised, how she loves the aspect of theatre because “you get a rehearsal room where you get to fuck up. And in that space between getting things wrong and finding a way through, you can learn and experiment.”
She said about Doctor Who that her Comic Con days are over, but that she’ll “always be in the club”.
Time and experience have not dimmed her thirst for challenges — or her fear that the work might suddenly dry up. Even after 20 years? “A hundred per cent!” she exclaims.

After that ask yesterday I've been trying to think how I would even attempt to fix Emmerdale.
I really just want to lock all of the producers and storyliners and decision making creatives into one room and ask them a lot questions.
I'd want to go through each and every character and be like "tell me this character's job (cause some don't have any), tell me what this character's hopes and dreams are, career ambitions, tell me what their purpose is in the village, tell me about their family, their romantic relationships/prospects and why they actually like/love those people, tell me about their friendships and the last time they had any meaningful interaction with those friends (cause most don't have any or don't talk to them if they do)" and if they don't have answers to some of those questions, we'd sit there and figure some out. I want everyone to have a prospective friend or at least address why they don't have one and what that says about their character.
I'd want to go through all of the businesses in the village and figure out which ones are actually worthwhile and how many are just blatantly ignored. I'd want them to give me story ideas to incorporate all of those businesses. I'd want them to explain to me why the HOP exists and why the Woolpack no longer feels like the heart of the village.
I'd want to force them to go through every terrible story from the past 5-7 years and tell me what impact they had on the show so they can see how 90% of them were pretty pointless in the end.
I'd want to challenge them to find me one character introduced in the last 5-7 years that didn't have a convoluted backstory that connected them to a current character or two. And ask them why that's their only means of brining in a new character.
I'd want to ask them what they think the public perception of each character is and whether that matches up with what they've theoretically been trying to do with them.
The biggest problem with the show is that they don't care about the characters anymore, or the village as a character. They're just chasing big headlines and things that get people talking for a moment. And yes, part of what goes into that is the way the world has shifted and our attention spans are garbage and part of the reason people respond to the older episodes is due to nostalgia, but it's also because there was a level of care with the characters that's not present on the show now. The reason those big hyped up events of the past worked better than they do now is because there weren't as many, but also because we cared about the characters affected by them. And they had longer lasting impact on village life. Now everything feels meaningless because you don't care about the characters or whether they live or die and these events happen every other week and there's zero lasting impact moving forward.
So I'd want to lock them all in a room and make them care about and understand their characters again and if there's any that are falling by the wayside, maybe they're not needed anymore.
And then from that basic level of care and understanding, I'd want to challenge people to build stories out of that. Stories that matter to the characters and therefor to the viewers. Maybe if they cared about the characters they were writing for, they'd want them to succeed every now and then and they could find the occasional positive story to tell.
I don't know. It just feels like without that level of caring about the characters, there's no hope for the show and that's why it just makes me sad these days.
Sure maybe a lot of robron things I loved happened kind of on accident but they just had so much more depth than anything happening in the last five years and I miss that. I miss caring about it and if the creators don't care, I'm sure not going to.
(and...end rant)
(wow I haven't done one of these long winded rants in a while. you should be thankful I'm not actually watching anymore or they'd still be happening frequently I'm sure)

I haven't been watching current Emmerdale because I hate what they've done with the show. If they bring Rob back of course I'll start watching again though because he's my favorite character of all time. Still can't believe they brought Ross back of all people before Rob. 😒 Don't forget that Mike Parr hates Robron so you know don't forget to mention them on all of the social media talking about him. I'm sure he'd love that. 😝
Mostly the point of this post is to say
REBECCA WHITE IS FINALLY GONE
From the time Rebecca arrived in Emmerdale she haunted Robron's storyline including even when she left the village because she was still causing them to fight about Seb. Hopefully now when Rob comes back (because I do believe he will) they can have a life and storylines that aren't connected to her.
Oh and just a reminder so people don't forget she totally took advantage of Rob when he was drunk and vulnerable and the show never took it seriously because he's a queer man and she's a woman. The amount of crap I got back in the day for speaking out against this character was nuts yet if Rob had taken advantage of Rebecca people would have lost their minds over it. I'll forever hate her because of how she treated both Robert and Aaron.

Do you think Ryan Hawley would ever return to Emmerdale?
I hope he does at some point but right now, I’d rather he stay as far away from the show as possible (don’t hate me for that). I don’t keep up with the goings on that much but from the few things I have seen just through notifications and whatnot, it is still in a dire state especially with killing off kids of late (instead of getting rid of unnecessary/long overdue to have exited other characters) and they still haven’t handled Zak’s death yet.
The show DESPERATELY needs to get rid of last of the trio and bring in a fresh single producer that would wipe out the cursed PLOT-focused direction the show took on since post-SSW2016 (courtesy of IM). The show needs to go back to ORGANIC/CHARACTER-based STORIES that have a beginning, middle and end. Shock plots do nothing but lead to characters going out of character (and a lot of times making you dislike them for their OOC ways) and returning then back to character after said plot is completed with little long-term effects.
At that point, I do hope Ryan does return (give him anything he wants and all the downtime as well) and Robert’s story can be handled properly with integrating him back into the village of the damned as well as the gradual progression of getting him and Aaron back together as well as the reintroduction of Sebastian.

Okay, so... I haven't been able to find an interview from 1995 with them wearing the bracelets, but in 1996 there's LOTS. There's also some interviews from 1997 but only with Dec wearing it sometimes and Ant wearing it other times, in 1998 they started wearing it more regularly. This is from The Bigger Breakfast
that´s Ant's
and that's Dec's. You can see that the chains are slightly different, but that's also the reason you can spot them easily.
When they started SMTV they wore them all the time, like literally there's a ton of pics and videos.
and that's just to show some.
When they started doing pop idol in 2001 they still wore frequently.
and Dec even wore it when they won their first NTA and Ant wore it for the first episode of I'm a celeb.
and also on 2003 talking about their undercover on Emmerdale
aaaaand that's actually the last year I could find them wearing the bracelets. So let's say from 1995 or 1996 to 2003, almost eight years. Woah, I don't think it's a coincidence like "I just bought this and my mate bought a similar once" Nah, I'm pretty sure they have a meaning and not wearing them also has a meaning. I'd like to know how the conversation went.

Casualty Predictions/Desperate hopes for Saturday
Okay so we now know that Ryan Hawley is on the board in casualty and he's an acquaintance from Cam's past. What we don't know is if he is a negative or positive influence (but it seems very positive due to him being a mentor type figure in Cam's life).
BBC I am begging you. Pleading even. Please give Cam some love. We've had some absolutely phenomenonal performances recently and you know what we need?
We need Cam breaking down, tears running down his face and all hope lost. But who can save the day? Who can be that glimmer of hope to hold Cam and tell him it's all alright?
Ryan Hawley. The epitome of my emmerdale Robron dreams.
(Kissing a bonus but you know, that might actually break my simulation because my heart would explode)
BBC, consider this a plea from myself and @redacted-thething, a fellow Cam kinnie.

I thought yesterday that maybe people were exaggerating when they said how bad it was as we are Robron fans and obviously it's harder to be objective but I've just seen it and people were actually downplaying how bad it was! Truly embarrassing.
It's beyond parody. I had worked myself up over it to the point where I just decided I wasn't going to watch it at all, but then I saw the reaction to it, and spoke to a couple of people, and decided to give it a try. It enraged me because it was their spot, but everything else about it was too embarrassing to be taken seriously. It's insulting how stupid they think their audience is. It's further insulting that they have absolutely no idea how any of this works. Yes, for lots of viewers Emmerdale, and soaps in general, are just background noise so they are not paying enough attention to really care too much one way or the other. But those aren't the viewers you're making the show for. You're making the show for the viewers who will take the time out of their day to vote for your show when awards season rolls around. You're making the show for the viewers who will take the time to go and leave comments on your socials. Those viewers care and are paying attention. And this storyline has no chance of ever being successful.
They clearly know nothing about how shipping or fandom works. They obviously know it can be a good thing ratings wise but have absolutely no idea how any of it actually works. They thought they could copy and paste the story and just change the font and shipping would magically occur. It requires the right characters. The right actors/actresses. The right storyline at the right time. They don't have any of that. It cannot be manufactured. It didn't work just because of the story. It was the right two characters and the two perfect actors for that pairing. They got lucky. And that's how it works. You can't recreate it by telling a redo and swapping one of the actors. You're missing a vital piece. They have absolutely zero understanding about the very basic functions of their job. They cannot create and tell a story. They don't understand any of it and it's insulting.

The main reason I'm desperately clawing on to my Emmerdale interest with spoilers/news and the hope that Robert will come back is that nothing ever beats a soap ship in terms of just how much content and episode numbers you get, does it? The longevity, the growth, the constant flow of spoilers throughout a year...
No ship can ever replace or even rival Robron to me anyway, but the truth is I just can't be equally excited about a couple that has a very limited run, it's like my toxic trait...
And Emmerdale is the UK soap I've always watched, so I'm not about to go elsewhere either.
So I guess I'll just be here hoping against hope that Ryan will eventually come back, reading and posting all the spoilers and clues, even if it seriously drives me crazy sometimes.
