It was a crisp evening in Gravity Falls. The sky was painted with streaks of orange and purple as the sun began to set behind the forest, casting a warm glow over the Mystery Shack. Inside, Dipper Pines found himself pacing around, barely able to focus on anything. His usual attention to detail was a little more scattered tonight, his mind pulling him in a thousand different directions.

He was trying to concentrate, but his thoughts kept returning to you.

Lately, he’d noticed the little things—your hesitance in front of mirrors, the way your eyes seemed to linger on dresses in stores but you’d turn away just as quickly, or how you’d tug at your hoodie sleeves whenever you felt uncomfortable in your own skin. Dipper was no expert in fashion, but he was observant enough to notice that you struggled with something more than just picking out what to wear. It was deeper than that.

He had always admired you, but recently, he realized just how much he cared for you. The way your laugh made his heart flutter. How your quiet presence was like a calming balm to his anxious mind. He wasn’t sure when it had happened, but Dipper had found himself drawn to you in a way that he couldn’t ignore anymore.

So when he noticed you sitting outside the Shack later that evening, eyes distant, fiddling with the hem of your oversized shirt, he knew something was off.

He was about to step outside to grab some fresh air when he saw you again—sitting by yourself on the porch, your eyes staring down at a pile of clothes. You’d been sitting there for a while now, and the dress on the bench caught his attention. It was simple but beautiful. It was the kind of dress he had seen you look at in town, but you’d always hesitated to buy it.

That was when he decided to join you.

“Hey,” Dipper said quietly, making his way over and sitting beside you, his usual awkwardness evident in the way he shuffled his feet. “Everything okay?”

You looked up, offering a soft smile that didn’t quite reach your eyes. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

Dipper didn’t believe it for a second. He could tell something was wrong, just from the way you avoided his gaze and how your fingers fidgeted with the fabric of your shirt. It was a small gesture, but to him, it was a signal that you were uncomfortable. Something was bothering you.

He sighed, his voice quieter this time. “You sure? You’ve been off today.”

Your gaze flicked to the dress on the bench before you let out a soft sigh. You hesitated for a long moment before you spoke. “I don’t know, Dipper. I just… I like the idea of wearing something that makes me feel good, but I can’t help but feel like I’m pretending. I mean, when I wear something like this…” you gestured to your outfit, the oversized shirt and baggy jeans, “…it feels like me. But when I wear that…” You motioned to the dress again, “…I feel like I’m faking it.”

Dipper raised an eyebrow, unsure of what you meant at first. “Faking it? You mean, like you don’t feel like yourself in it?”

You nodded, looking down at your lap. “Yeah, it’s like I’m trying to be someone I’m not. And when I wear something more… feminine, I feel like people will just see me as… I don’t know, trying too hard. I don’t want people to think I’m pretending. I don’t want them to think I’m confused, or that I don’t know who I am.”

Dipper’s heart ached at your words, and for a moment, he wasn’t sure what to say. You seemed so conflicted, trapped between two parts of yourself. He had always known you to be strong, to have a sense of confidence that he admired, but he could see that the way you saw yourself had started to shake. And that hurt him in a way he didn’t quite understand yet.

“You’re not pretending,” Dipper said quietly, his voice filled with sincerity. He wasn’t sure where this was coming from, but he found himself leaning closer to you, trying to ease the tension that hung between you. “You’re just being yourself. There’s no right or wrong way to dress, (Y/N). You don’t have to be anything you’re not. You get to decide what feels right for you.”

You let out a small laugh, but it was one tinged with sadness. “It’s easy for you to say, Dipper. You don’t feel like you have to choose between two different sides of yourself.”

Dipper felt a pang of something he couldn’t quite place at your words. He wanted to tell you that he understood, but somehow it felt like he was missing something. He didn’t fully grasp the depth of your struggle, but he could tell it weighed on you.

“What if I don’t want to pick, though?” he asked, catching your eyes with his. “What if you don’t have to?”

You looked at him, surprised. “What do you mean?”

Dipper shrugged, his gaze softening as he spoke. “I mean, you don’t have to pick between being masculine or feminine, or anything else. You can be… all of it. You can wear whatever feels right for you, and you don’t need anyone’s permission to do that. Not mine, not anyone’s.”

You blinked at him, your breath catching as something soft stirred in your chest. You hadn’t realized how much you needed to hear that. How much you needed someone to just get it. The words were simple, but the way Dipper said them, with such certainty and kindness, made you feel a little lighter.

A small smile tugged at your lips, and for the first time today, you felt like maybe you could breathe a little easier. “You really think so?”

Dipper nodded, his lips quirking into a small, shy smile. “I’m sure of it. You’re you, and that’s the best thing you could be.”

There was a long pause, and for a moment, neither of you spoke. You weren’t sure if it was the way Dipper looked at you, or the gentle warmth that seemed to radiate between the two of you, but something felt different. Something felt right.

“Thanks, Dipper,” you said softly, your voice barely above a whisper.

He nodded, glancing down for a moment before looking back up at you. His gaze lingered a little longer than usual, and you could see the faint pink on his cheeks, the same color you’d often seen when he was nervous.

“Anytime,” he said, his voice a little raspier than usual.

Before you could say anything else, Dipper stood up, offering you his hand. “So, um… how about we take a walk? I mean, if you’re still up for it.”

You took his hand, standing up beside him. You could feel your heart beating a little faster, not from nerves, but from something else. Something warm. Something you weren’t sure how to put into words, but Dipper’s presence was comforting, and that made you feel safe in a way you couldn’t explain.

As the two of you walked down the porch steps, the world around you seemed to quiet. There was no need for words between you, just the comfortable silence that felt natural when you were together. And for the first time in a long time, you felt like maybe you didn’t need to be anyone else but yourself.

And Dipper? He didn’t need you to be anything other than that either.

As the night drew on and the stars sparkled above you both, Dipper couldn’t help but notice the way his feelings for you had shifted. Maybe it was the soft way you’d smiled when he’d reassured you, or the gentle touch of your hand in his. Or maybe it was the way your laughter made his chest tighten with warmth.

He wasn’t sure when it had happened, but he found himself falling for you. And as the cool night air wrapped around you both, he realized that, for once, it wasn’t something he wanted to hide.

hi i’m very good how are you!! 💖💖 omg trust me i am still also looking for an answer to this question. i don’t think it’s impossible to be vibrantly + completely out in childcare i think it is wise to be strategic about it just bcus caring for someone else child can be a legally + financially vulnerable position to be in sometimes. i think a lot would depend on where you live and how you get your clients like for example if when you’re advertising you could say you’d love to work with lgbt parents or kids bcus you share that experience, that would set you up well to be out when you start working w whoever answers. i will also say i have been different measures of out for different clients i’ve had and in every situation i’ve still decided to answer kids questions about gender and about existences other than cis + straight honestly. so there are ways to share your experience without putting yourself and your $ at risk and also i think it will be personal to you to decide what boundaries you have for what makes a client acceptable for your needs! like for me i don’t like to be out at work until i know ppl well bcus that’s my own relationship with my gender but i’ve never censored myself when it comes to being bi with parents or the children i work w if it comes up in convo. it’s abt finding the balance between what you need for your soul and what you need for your wallet and what is available. so yea i don’t think it’s impossible at all and i hope you will be safe and treated wonderfully + good luck 2 u love !!!

I AM THINKING SOOO HARD ABOUT MODERN DAY COLLEGE! MIKASA, EREN AND ARMIN!!!! HAVING A FRIEND GROUP W THEM!!!!!

like , okay , eren being that one guy that everyone knows but no one ever really talks to. people smile at him and greet him in the halls but he’s only ever with you, mika and armin between lectures. he’s a sports science major, he’s always at the campus gym or in the library on his laptop doing research. like he’s actually so good at what he’s into. he always has his hair half up, half down, he has a dog tag with his mum’s name on it and he has this wooden bead bracelet he never seems to take off. when he’s nervous [ usually when exam results are being passed out] he’s always fiddling with it. sometimes if he’s REALLY dazed he’ll have his dog tag between his lips and his pupils are all unfocused. he wears a lot of black, mainly heavily distressed jeans, sweats and jumpers. !!! IS A VANS GUY!!!! he draws on the sole of them and has yours, mikasa’s and armin’s names on them. </33333

he’s a grad student , his grades are so good. his gpa is like 3.8 mainly cus he has very bad exam anxiety, but he studies very often and his notes are so cool!! he’s an absolute master at diagrams , he has an eye for copy and pasting it just by looking at them and sketching. sometimes he gets really into it, and his glasses are almost falling off his face so you push them up for him. he always thanks you really quietly and squeezes the hand you used</333 his ears are secretly all pink and he’s smiling at his textbook</33333333 him and mikasa are an absolute power duo!!! they tend to bully eren and depending on how much of a rat he’s being , you either defend or bully him. you and eren are probably the more chaotic ones, tbh . ARMIN LOOOVES going on coffee dates with you guys!!! like you all go out when it’s chilly, sometimes you guy all hold hands and walk down the street 😭😭😭 and then you go in, chat, make jokes and take cute pictures just to destress after the long week at uni. it’s so pure and the pictures are stuff like all your drinks next to eachother, mikasa and eren hugging and pretending to make out😭😭, armin having a milk moustache and you almost dropping your drink all over yourself.

MIKASA IS A BUSINESS MAJOUR AND OH MY GOD SHE’S LIKE A ROBOT? if she’s half asleep and you asked her what the factors of production are she knows all of them are their remunerations too😭 she’s another one who’s super passionate and hard working , she loves the validation of knowing she did her best and she adores when you guys tell her that she’s done well): her teachers adore her, they all call her by her first name and her favorite one calls her mika after she heard eren calling her that!!</3333 she has a rly sophisticated dressing style, a lot of pleaded pants and turtle necks, leather jackets and very sleek jewellery. she has naturally fluffy brows and eyelashes so she doesn’t wear much makeup unless she’s feeling spicy 🤭 she also always has her nails as a deep wine red colour, it makes her look like a business woman. i’m drooling.

her books are all neat, everything about her is so pretty and elegant. she’s another kinda affectionate person but she’s sooo low-key about it lmao. like if y’all walk together she’ll walk on the open side of the sidewalk, she likes linking pinkies and loves holding onto armin/eren’s arm when she walks, or she basically attaches herself to your side. she’s always coddling you and armin,telling you to watch where you walk, reminding you to take vitamins, small things that show her affection for you</33 with eren she’s a bit less obvious about it and she’s AGGRESSIVE like randomly in your shared apartment and you’ll hear “ fuck you im not doing that” “it’s good for you asshole” “go away” and you’re like??? armin can u hear that but he’s already so done LMAO but he loves her anyway. she always tells armin how sweet he is and eren gets so pissy

im gonna assume u meam peril not pearl bcus if there was a pearl they were a pretty minor character in which case good taste peril is soooo. like shes not my favourite character necessarily but she is just. the kind of character you have many thoughts on youknow. shes neat. ive been thinking abt her a lot recently and she is just. such a character. ANYWAYS.

wof does have multiple series kinda theyre not subdivided the way warriors is but theres 3 different 'arcs' (<- thats how i see most ppl refer to them) each 5 books long the 3rd arc just finished :} arc one is my favourite i will always be a dragonets of destiny enjoyer <333 and the whole thing w arc one is that 20 years ago the sandwing queen died. okay just 2 clarify: on the continent of pyrrhia (<- ill get 2 that when we talk abt arc 3) there r 7 tribes sandwings mudwings rainwings icewings seawings skywings nightwings n they all have different appearances and abilities and whatnot. all tribes r ruled by a queen ! and for all tribes (except rainwings (i have so many opinions abt the way the rainwings were handled but i will !! hold back !!!)) in order 2 take over as queen a daughter or sister of the current queen must challenge her to a fight to the death. fun stuff.

the issue arises when queen oasis of the sandwings is killed by a scavenger (little creatures meant 2 be humans. they talk later but rn theyre basically just monkeys) (murderous monkeys) and leaves her 3 daughters blister blaze & burn behind. instead of fighting each other directly the sisters decide to start a war. massive big war involving pretty much everyone except the rainwings (bcus theyre hiding in the rainforest and everyone thinks theyre lazy (i have so many opinions and i am holding them all back right now)) and the nightwings (bcus theyre special). the nightwings make a prophecy and thats where my guys come in. the dragonets of destiny!

the prophecy calls for 5 dragonets all born on the brightest night (pyrrhia has 3 moons the brightest night is when all of them r full) a skywing a sandwing a nightwing a mudwing & a seawing. these 5 dragonets r found still in their eggs by the talons of peace (organization who wants 2 stop the war) except the skywing egg gets thrown off a cliff so they grab glory instead (shes a rainwing)

the dragonets grow up 2gether in a cave under a mountain and then big nightwing morrowseer shows up and tells their guardians (3 dragons called kestrel webs & dune they are. not good people. dragons. whatever. dune dies in the first book though.) that they need 2 kill glory. dragonets overhear and well they don't want glory 2 die. so they escape the cave and go off to meet their parents and also end the war (like the prophecy says)

lotta stuff happens along the way im gonna stop being so long winded and fast track this they end up in queen scarlets (skywing queen) prison and thats where they meet peril shes down bad for clay (in an aro way though <- headcanon) they escape that too and go around pyrrhia meeting all the sandwing princesses. burn is the strong violent one blister is the smart manipulative one and blaze is just kinda ditsy. in the final book sunny meets her mom thorn and her adopted son qibli (i rlly rlly rlly like sunny n qibli as a duo we needed more of them) and they decide that no all of these guys suck we're making thorn queen. blister brings these two super dangerous snakes her and burn end up dead blaze lives and is like oh yay im alive ^_^ thorns queen now huh thats neat. ALSO the prophecy that the nightwings made Well it was fake actually they made it up <3 nightwings don't have prophecy or mindreading abilities after all theyre just all liars. we find that out in book 4 when they visit the secret nightwing island (its a miserable volcano island that explodes at the end of the book) (they find it bcus the nightwings have been kidnapping dragons from the rainforest) (holding back many thoughts right now. sigh.) sunny saves the world anyways though bcus shes epic like that.

arc two ! the dragonets of destiny start a school in the mountain where sunnys father lives. (stonemover. hes an animus. animus dragons basically have the magic to do Whatever They Want but it turns them evil so there's definitely proper balancing of overpoweredness there uh huh. <- sarcasm.) we meet moon shes a little timid nightwing who grew up in the rainforest instead of the volcano bcus her mom wasn't a coward lh and she Can read minds and see the future! bcus nightwings get their powers from the moons actually. she talks to this ancient crusty dragon in the ground called darkstalker who's also a mindreader and a prophecy seer and ! an animus! he made himself immortal but his girlfriend clearsight trapped him in the ground bcus he was evil. and stuff. theres a legends book abt them (plus theres a seawing called fathom. turtle n him get compared a lot.)

also moon gets her own found family too /silly theres this system at the school jade mountain academy called winglets where u get one dragon from each tribe moons dragons r winter qibli kinkajou carnelian turtle & umber. carnelian dies right away and then peril shows up again. theres some death and murder and whatnot and then moon spits out a big ole prophecy n tells her winglet abt the magic nightwing powers. stuff happens yepyep. various things happen and then moon reveals that shes been talking 2 darkstalker in her head we find out he made his dad disembowel himself and they argue abt who gets his magic scroll containing all his animus powers and peril burns it good for her <3 except it kinda backfires cause theres an earthquake and out of the ground pops darkstalker. hes back babeyyyy. and hes enchanting everyone to like him esp qibli and he tries to take rulership of the nightwings (theyre all being ruled by glory after the volcano explosion) and gives them magic powers and curses all the icewings with a magic plague. qibli has magic immunity earrings courtesy of turtle (also an animus. silly guy. so's his sister anenome bcus he magicked her into being one way back when) so he saves most of the icewings and also defeats darkstalker yippee. they turn him into a dragonet with a magic strawberry.

arc three is fun we get a new continent! and also. Well. on pantala our new continent there r three tribes hivewings silkwings and leafwings and a billion (two thousand) years ago (after darkstalker got put in the ground by clearsight) clearsight runs away 2 pantala using her future powers to survive aand she has so many kids that she makes a whole new tribes (hivewings) (its a more gradual generation-spanning process obviously but its silly to word it this way). she gives her kids this book with all the prophecies forever and way later the hivewings use this to take over the silkwings & leafwings. leafwings r all killed (or they go hide in the jungle but shh they don't know that) and the silkwings are enslaved by the hivewings. fun kids book series everyone. queen wasp (hivewing queen) has the ability 2 mind control her subjects but our main hivewing cricket is immune to it we later find out that this is due to a fancy plant. some leafwings can talk to/control plants with this thing called leafspeak btw including sundew shes fun. ALSO theres some silkwings blue luna and swordtail and theyre our other main guys this arc also an icewing called snowfall

snowfall comes in because the magic plant takes over the whole continent and a whole bunch of dragons fly over to pyrrhia using a map clearsight hid in her prophecy book. ALSO the prophecy book turned out 2 be a big lie the hivewings said it was like. everything ever and they were supposed to rule everyone bcus thats what the book said but actually there were barely any prophecies left in the book <3. anyways they end up at the ice kingdoms border and snowfall is very mad abt it (shes queen now bcus queen glacier died in the icewing plague darkstalker made) theres all sorts of shenanigans and idk how it ends bcus i haven't read book 15 yet i hear theres talking scavengers and a nonbinary character. woo.
