I'm going to be so real I do not understand tim & steph shippers who feel that Steph dating Tim again would save her character. You can make an argument that giving Tim a more compelling love interest would be beneficial for him! And you can at least make an argument that the fujo mischaracterization of Steph would stop. However she'd still, inevitably, be treated as a prop character/extension for someone more popular 😭 it also wouldn't make her appear in more books! Tim doesn't have many frequent appearances at the moment either! You can just say you like the couple and want them back together without acting like you have some kind of moral stance

small rant about his card (the beginning half, i took a break out of irritation) and just the dynamic between him and his MC

I was so excited about getting Hidden Waves eventually (the way i got it pissed me off tho, i want rafayel’s myths not caleb’s card 😭 i feel like it should be a crime to get other 5*s on specific banners sigh)

Anyway!! The animation looked so good so I was always looking forward to HW but now that I’m playing it, I’m already pissed off.

I love Caleb but the thing that made me love the other four so much was how they’d let your MC be… a grown ass woman. Obviously some have different levels like Sylus and Zayne are the best at letting MC do her thing with Rafayel next and Shen/Xavier after but they still respect the fact that, hey, you’re grown, you’re a hunter, we care and want to care for you but we understand you can protect yourself when necessary.

Caleb just… doesn’t. And MC tries to argue she’s an adult, she’s a hunter, but immediately goes crying apologies to Caleb 10 seconds later. I hate it soso much 😭 like girl, at this point, don’t even make that argument anymore if you’re going to let yourself be cradled by him. I get it, it’s their dynamic but it’s what really pulls me out of enjoying Caleb’s character because I just HATE MCs in Caleb’s MCs position.

If Caleb wanted to get your attention so badly, he’s a grown man and can walk inside the café to come hang out - I’m sure the MC and her friends wouldn’t have minded. If Caleb wanted to show his care for the MC so badly and not have her get angry with him, why couldn’t he just simply say, “Hey, someone got killed last night and I was really worried about you. I know you can take care of yourself but that doesn’t stop me from caring about your safety.” It’s not like he’s admitting his romantic feelings or anything by saying that, any family member could say something like that w/o it being weird like don’t piss me off 😭

I seriously love Caleb but again, shit like this just rubs me the wrong way. I hated when Shen would do that shit too so it’s not like this is just a Caleb hating thing, pfft. DGMW i’m not saying the MC is the unbreakable force but I was so excited that she was this badass character only to… not be one?? She can be but why is this badass woman who’s a HUNTER, being babied 😭 and why is she letting herself be walked over like that… Should have just made her a regular office worker if we weren’t going to see our girl in proper action and showing who and what is boss </3 (not saying office workers cant be girlbosses hehe they can be very much, i think i’m just expecting too much from l&ds mc physically yk…?)

How can she put her foot down with Sylus (and i mean, he loves it) but not with Caleb 😭😭😭😭 I be so excited when she talks her shit to Caleb ONLY to to apologize right after be so serious !!! and she doesn’t even need to apologize like 😭 (then i rmbr the MCs are different with each boy so then i lock in and go take a break from the game)

I know a lot of fic writers have their own interpretations of different character dynamics (for example Mori and Dazai) I KNOW THERES POINTS OF CONTENTION OR WHAT NOT but like I wish ppl would leave others alone for having a dif take bc I got a comment on A Horse Named Cold Air (my comments were moderated at the time so I just deleted it on the spot) saying that basically my interpretation of Dazai and Mori wasn’t correct and that Dazai wasn’t abused. And now. I could go into detail on why contextually I think that that is factually incorrect in regards to canon but I won’t bc it’s not abt that.

However. What it is about is letting fic writers mind their own business bc hey yeah maybe some of the stuff is canonically inaccurate! (And again I could argue about how that’s largely because there are so many gaps w Dazais backstory anyway that it’s kinda up to interpretation anyways bc we simply don’t have all the knowledge) BUT! That’s none of ur fucking business how I intend to write MY fic. U don’t like it? Write your own. That’s the beauty of fandom baby.

And especially like bc. You never know what the author is basing those dynamics on or how much of it is projection. I sure as hell know I project a fuck ton onto Dazai and Mori’s dynamic and it’s actually rlly upsetting when ppl comment like “oh this is inaccurate he wasn’t abused” bc like cool??? U can read it that way??? However me. Being someone to relates to him thru the lens of my own abuse. I’m gonna take a certain interpretation and I’d like to have that in peace.

AAAAA the day people learn ao3 etiquette and general human decency is the day I will rest.
