This is petty of me but there is something darkly satisfying about finally seeing everyone turn on a guy you always thought was a whiny asshole

Like I never followed him but when I got into MCC I very quickly noticed how there'd be arguments about things being "unfair" and how Scott Smajor would get called slurs after every MCC that Dream and his buddies were in and how that notably didn't happen if they weren't in the MCC.

#dream situation #idk it's just nice to see ppl turn from being too scared to say anything bad about him bc of his stans #to just speaking the truth #he's even worse than just a whiny asshole turns out but like. I'm not hugely surprised #it's a bigger scale with more serious allegations sure #but at the core of everything he says it's still the same ''look at me I'm the victim here they're all so mean to me'' mentality #anyway being a hater isn't healthy but sometimes it's quite. my neutral dragon age trait is that 50% of the time i'm like "the more i critique the games, the more i love them. i can appreciate each game for what they are but my criticism and frustration over what they could be are a sign of love" and the other 50% is like "this is the writing of the dragon age series. sure. why not. this may as well happen."

#post inspired by seeing a post where someone was asking a blog like 'hey ive only played veilguard what is a mage circle'#50% biting the bars of my cage over the way lore/plot/priorities have shifted and changed over time #50% along for the ride #but on that first point: looking at the plot of veilguard (stopping solas/elgar'nan and ghilan'nain)#im not surprised the mage/templar shit wasn't a big deal #and honestly any frustration i have with that is more so aimed at dai #bc dai was what first reduced the mage/templar war to 'here are some assholes fighting in the woods'#however.#objectively WILD that someone could play ur whole ass game and not know what mage circles/templars are #and then the confusion over an elven rook's backstory is honestly just laughable to me like akjdsjkdf #theyre dalish but they also lived in a town and if they're a mage they also studied somewhere #like. honestly imo not a big issue but like. a simple dialogue choice could've solved this.#it's so funny to me bc it's ridiculous but also. bring back ambient dialogue choices.#like tldr though #i super enjoyed veilguard and i appreciated it for what it did #and while not perfect. i'm a sucker for a story about friends and bonds.#and i think as an interpersonal story it works really well #and i can at the very least respect the writers/devs making the game not as open world #even though i do miss that a lot (as well as talking to ur companions mechanics)#however. the detachment from previous lore is definitely jarring.#not that i think veilguard needed to be about (for instance) the mages and templars #and honestly im happy we got companions that felt unique #bc i was getting real tired of 'here are the elves who hate each other. here is the one who doesnt trust mages'#etc etc etc #and getting to see all these factions was really nice too (though in a perfect world we'd have a legit origin quest imo)#but even just. some kind of way to bring in prev lore #tldr 2 i have my frustrations with the narrative arc as a whole and find them fun to talk abt #but sometimes im just like. it already happened. it's already written.#i will think abt what could've been while also just having fun w/ what i got #final tldr 3 i think dragon age is just the one series that im not always itching to meta essay on LMAOOO

#My personal blorbo Asherah began as a knockoff Marika but boy she's a lot more now #orphan raised as a sacrificial priestess to the Sun/Heaven's Firstborn #finagled her way into being high priestess and kept the Sun at bay by making herself invaluable and sacrificing the other priestesses #which she never forgave herself for #she also sacrificed giant Kingdom Death style white lions which she would eventually kind of take up as her personal symbol/totem #uses a plucky barbarian hero who somehow managed to do the impossible and downed the leader of the invading faeries #which earned him an audience with the Sun #(who was going to eat him)#instead Asherah and the priestesses (along with the Stars who are cousins of the gods who got the short end of the stick) set a trap #and she and Ansu (the hero guy) trap/weaken the Sun in its own chariot/ship and slaughtered it (with the ghosts of the priestesses/lions)#then drove the chariot to heaven to threaten God itself into actually respecting humanity (instead of viewing them as prayer cattle)#bathing in the ichor of the Sun made them both Immortal immortal #as in can't die ever bc they're barred from the afterlife and infused with incorruptible divine light #They had a brief romance and a political marriage but neither actually want it #but they're undying and keep running back into each other #They both dealt with immortality poorly #Asherah became obsessed with legacy and control so that she would *never* be victimized like that again #nor would her children (so long as they do what she says)#and Ansu wants nothing more than to escape the destiny as hero king but due to being a basically normal guy/“guy” who killed two gods #fate has it out for Ansu #This was like ten thousand years before the modern day #basically all of the settings history has been these two assholes and their immediate family causing problems

i like how barton went from being like... a hippie in terms of how he viewed sex in his early twenties, then kind of abstained from it for a few years / became sexually repressed, which... definitely isn't such a good thing. people with outdoor cats be like: yes my cat came back home half dead, caught hiv, is full of parasites and sometimes has gone missing for weeks but i don't care bc at least the cat is free and not locked inside like selfish people do!!!

#like without drifting apart gradually bc tbh i dont wanna be close friends anymore #i feel constantly misunderstood and perpetually weighed down in this person's presence #we're close friends but i dont even like her anymore #and i feel BAD about it but i just cant stand their ass! everything feels like a competition with them. everything feels miserable.#it's definitely partially my own fault bc i do a lot of comparing due to our laundry list of similarities #but it's partially their fault bc shes always adding fuel to the fire #like we can never just agree on things #and whenever i try to balance myself and stop being so competitive here she comes with her damn #need to make even more comparisons between us #also like. they cannot just shut up about how hard life is #Trust me i know! i take 3 pills daily for psychological issues. i have been since i was 18 #like they always have to talk about how haaaaard having ADHD is how difficult their life is like #it's one thing to open up to your friends and vent every so often and another to make your illness your entire personality #i rant about all my issues in depth on tumblr BECAUSE i know better than to dump all that onto my friends who are already struggling #im not saying it's Trauma Dumping to talk abt ur problems but holy shit in moderation #like i dont have the mental or emotional capacity for this!!!!#that might sound really mean and god forbid extremely individualistic but it's truly because #im trying to HEAL im trying to RECOVER #and with someone constantly messaging me about their ailments and symptoms and struggles! well it makes me feel like we're both bound to be #stuck foreverrrr #also apart from that i dont enjoy their company. they used to be interesting and now they're just negative half the time if not more and #constantly playing the devils advocate for seemingly no real reason #im not perfect either in fact i can be a real asshole in friendship im aware. but this one particular friend has been pissing me off for #over a year and that has to mean something #like why now and why for this long?#if it really is a Me Problem then okay! like i fucking suck im horrible or whatever lets not be friends so that she can be happier!#idgaf anymore maybe im the bad guy but either way we're better off apart #z.post
