Is it rude to say that you hadn’t expected Dabi to have had his own car? Not because of money issues, but because of a few reasons being: 1) he walks everywhere he goes, and 2) he’s quite literally never mentioned having a car nor a license before.

But you sit with him, in his old beat up bucket that jerks every time he hits a bump in the road, fighting for dear life. Your window doesn’t roll all the way up and bugs keep flying in, and it doesn’t help that Dabi is going 80 in a 55. You would hold onto the little life support grip thing above the window, but it looks like there hasn’t been one on the passengers side since he received the car.

You know he’s going this fast because, not only does it scare you, but it makes him hit the potholes a little harder. Which in turn makes your thighs and stomach and boobs jiggle more than usual. You should’ve known he had another motive when he insisted you ride with him to the convenience store, especially the one across town when there was 7 others he’d passed in the meantime.

But you’re too busy trying to keep your head from hitting the roof of the car, and your tits from falling out of your low cut shirt. Oh, this fucker must’ve had everything planned out the moment you walked through the door.

“Can you slow down a little?” You yell over the bass of his too loud rock music, one hand gripping his that rests on your thigh, the other holding your chest tightly. “My boobs are gonna fall outta my goddamn bra by the next pothole!”

But that only encourages Dabi, makes him throw a grin your way as he glances to how your chest jiggles again with another bump in the road. He laughs at your screech for him to look at the road, turning his eyes to comply with your request, his chin still turned in your direction.

“Well, sounds to me like I’m not going fast enough.” He teases, softly steering his wheel to the nearest pothole, a deep one. He snaps his eyes over to you the moment he hits it, smirking at your squeak when he sees your chest bounce out of your grip before you regain it again quickly.

He glances up to you, grinning even wider when you’re already glaring at him. He can’t help the squeeze of your thigh, blue eyes already zoning in on the next dip in the road for him to hit. He’s not stopping until your complaint becomes reality, and only then, he’ll find a convenience store.

Idk much about the actual figure skating world or anything so if anything is inaccurate to the real thing, I apologized T v T

spinner was a former hockey player and was bullied for being weak

tomura is a figure skater where the bastard afo is his coach and pressured him to win against all might (a fellow coach)

izuku, bakugo, and all might have a pretty similar plotline with yoi but that's another story

spinner was going to practice late at night when he witness tomura, already on the rink, skating like a fairy and that's when spinner decided to quit the team

this made spinner confuse bc it angered his team and he's like "but u call me weak and i'm kinda doing u a favor????"

if i were writing this as a fanfic, this would mostly be in spinner's pov bc tomura is suppose to be a mystrious but beautiful figure skater

when really, tomura is going thru a lot behind the scenes bc of afo pressuring him

eventually tomura notices spinner decided to help him and the first thing he does was to find a coach

giran recommanded mr. compress who was a former figure skater but due to some injuries, he was forced to step down but is a really good coach

he only got together with dabi bc he was despatre to love someone and dabi was the only other person before he met spinner to relate? understand? he doesn't know

spinner comforted tomura and said that they will work things out

before i forget, yes kurogiri is in the au, but he's kinda the acting coach for tomura but unlike afo, he watches over tomura's physically and mental well-being

so when he saw how spinner helped tomura, kurogiri sugguested to do a compietiion together

tomura was hesiated but kurogiri said he got sutff under control

afo will be get rid of (idk how but dw, he's gonna be gone by the end) and kurogiri becomes tomura's permitted coach or gets to be coached under compress

their first compeition together was the first time they truly had fun and felt free

tomura's outfit is my fav to think of bc i imagine he's always wore black in his costume but during his first competition without afo, he wore white instead to symbolize tomura's new beginning and the start of his healing jounry with spinner

Hi guys lemme rant about my hero academia for a bit here

As an avid sns (naruto) shipper that's been here since the dawn of time i am so so surprised by the shift in popularity in favour of bkdk (bnha).

You see, back when i STARTED bnha i was still under the influence of naruto shippuden ending. And i couldn't help myself drawing paralels between bnha and naruto. Sns has some similar aspects to bkdk so it became my fav bnha ship right away. Deku has a secret power/quirk and a saviour complex, bakugo is a natural prodigy who bullies him, they're rivals, ect... but people hated it! They did not get it, but since sns used to get the same treatment way back when, i ignored the hate, trusting.

i fell off the wagon round s4. But recently i hopped back on and caught up with it. At first i picked up bkdk fanfiction and called it a day.

But then i remembered... Dabi existed.

And I SWEAR TO GOD

i always knew. It was the same thing as Naruto-Minato all over again, and i can't be fooled twice. Like!!!!! They have the same eyes, and the super rare almost exact same quirk? Lol, not that big of a reveal.

But! ...Dabi. I'm really glad i watched s6 for him. i love him and his story so much, and i'll NEVER get over it. If Endeavor has no haters, i'm dead. Ik it's bc of my own raging daddy issues, but idc.

What i wanted to rant about is that back then it was weird to ship bkdk. Also, it was considered weird to like any of the LOV, with Dabi being pretty high up there. He used to be considered a true 'hear me out' if i remember right. And for this reason i don't think i have any evidence of my undying loyalty for this young man from back in the day. But it's still burning just as bright as he is 💙 no pun intended.

I really hope my ask won't be seen as mean, hope to word correctly....bc your last post about how Eri and Shig do share some common ground. I agree but it irks me how LoV stans use this to make shig sound not so bad.

Many fics and arts where "shig saved Eri" exists as Eri is an accessory for Shig and nothing else.

I do see the paralels here. I do wonder about the mother....did overhaul killed her?

It's very convenient for the heroes to label Eri's quirk as good ...bc if she had just decay...she would be label as having a bad quirk. Maybe the heroes wouldn't care much. (Makes me wonder where are the healing quirks or medical advancement in this world)

But while they have a similar backstory...how Izu would possible know? I sincerely ask here bc AM went radio silence regards Shig to Izu, same with Gran and the police did a really lousy investigation (I'm assuming is lousy bc we don't see what they did and whatever they did it was one time thing) and didn't share the infos with Izu.

Does Izu knows about the nomus?

Im even surprised he knows shig is TENKO...but of course, such reveal is underwealming as fuck and him and Nana don't take at all.

Izu is mistreated by the narrative and no one talks to him ever.

Not to harpy on your post bc I agree this could have been useful....but like how Izu would know anything about Shig? Unless Shig tells or Izu becames the best hacker ever...or reads mind...he can't know. Ever.

I've said this before, but the reason Izuku doesn't understand Shigaraki is because they haven't interacted enough prior to the Final War.

Their conversation at the mall was a good moment. It shows that a) Izuku has the capacity to resonate with a villain's intent AND disagree with their actions (Stain), b) Shigaraki at this point didn't have a goal or direction, and c) it IS possible for Izuku to understand why hero society is corrupt. It also highlights the differences between them, attempting to show them as complete opposites.

The mall scene was a great way to explain the dynamic between them. And it's something that should have been expanded on throughout the story.

Admittedly, I don't know how Shigaraki's backstory would come up. But I'm sure it wouldn't be a hard thing to do. Didn't All Might pull up Tenko Shimura's disappearance? Maybe Izuku figures it out on his own somehow. Idk.

But to me, it doesn't even specifically have to be Tenko's actual past. It could be an implied thing that Izuku learns from watching how people treat Eri. Hell, part of him already has a clue from his fight with Shinsou.

(One thing I actually hate about Izuku's character is his inability to acknowledge the corruption of society despite being a victim of it. He started off being able to do this with Stain, but for some reason that just went away. He studies under Endeavor, even defends him to Dabi and tells Todoroki he's ready to forgive him. Lady Nagant spelled it out for him and he just... Doesn't react. Doesn't even think about what she said. This is on Horikoshi's awful writing decisions, but it's the one criticism of Izuku that's 100% valid)

Eri shouldn't be used for Shigaraki's redemption. I honestly wouldn't want her around any of the LOV, that's putting her in danger to make another character look better. It's the same issue that I have with Aizawa making Bakugou watch her.

But I do think that Izuku's experiences with the people around him- which includes Eri- should give him a broader worldview. That's typically how development and growth work. If Izuku was going to reach out and try to save Shigaraki, it should have been with an understanding of how society failed Shigaraki.

Saving him also could have meant a lot of different things. Saving Shigaraki from AFO's influence/brainwashing wasn't a bad goal. Saving him from himself, though, is different. People have to want to change, you can't make them. You can give them support, but Izuku wasn't in a position to do so because he's, y'know, a sixteen year old who isn't even an official pro hero. Of course he wasn't equipped for this. Most actual pros wouldn't have been

He thought Stain had a team or a way of knowing those heroes are fake and deserved death ...only to find out Stain killed all of them bc none of them live up to be am.

It is very plausible to have dabi be disillusioned by stains ideology in the beginning. We already know that dabi did look up to Stain (whether that was true or just dabi manipulating shigaraki as @nyc3 suggested can be up to debate) and considering dabi's experiences with Hero society and enjis love/validation becoming intertwined dabi would come to quickly resent heroes and hero society.

However, only a 18 year old (or younger) dabi would fall for such a naive hope that Stain has concrete evidence of who is a bad hero that deserves their culling from society and the world. A naive dabi who had only been on the street for 2 years with a burning desire for revenge seems like a perfect type victim to fall into the idea that Stain innately knows and is helping make the world a better place.

Ultimately, I think that this idea would be shattered when dabi realises how chizome decides who to cull and when he realises that chizome's ideal hero is all Might.

As a victim who was exposed to the darkness and coruptenss of hero society dabi would have some very complicated feelings about all might especially after you realise that all might is the man that dabi was set up against and was produced so he could beat all Might and restore enjis honour. Dabi would probably develop mixed feelings more leaning to hatred and anger towards all Might to various reasons such as:

Believing that all might would be there to save everyone and fulfil his message of "iam here" just for him not to be there

Dabi blames all Might and his behaviour for enji's actions and abuse. This makes sense as we see the questionable ideologies that dabi had adopted at the todoroki household

Him theorising that all might is also a questionable parent would make him hate all Might more as he draws similarities between him and enji

Choso- has baked home made sweets and definitely has been planning for a good week because he wants to be there for you in every way

Nanami - made a reservation at his and your fave restaurant like a month ago. He’s also got champagne at the house for later but didn’t go overboard. Had roses delivered to your work though. He’s busy and needed some help

Gojo - most likely threw something together last minute.. definitely paid a grand for the last minute flowers and delivery person. The card that came with them def just says I love you 💕

Geto - he probably did something like but you new lingerie but didn’t wrap it. And probably a heart felt card.

Levi - thinks this is a scam for companies to make more money (he’s not wrong) but he still got a card or something small. Did plan a dinner though because he’s sentimental.

Eren - this man literally bought the last bouquet at the grocery store. I see him probably getting diamond earrings or something though. He’s been sitting on a good time to give them to you.

Tengen - he has a whole day planned out for you and his wives. You all planned something for him too. He’s the picnic type so maybe a little adventure date? Probably got a bunch of different flowers and put them through the whole house. Will be rocking your world (all four of you) tonight.

Sanemi - I think he’s super sentimental when he gets a partner. He’s lost everything so he goes all out. Your favorite flowers, chocolates, dinner at the house cooked by him, an insane time in the bedroom. He’s gotten you new shoes too, the ones you were eyeing online a few weeks ago.

Dazai - has forgotten but when he remembers expect a heart felt letter.

Chuuya - He’s a roses guy, not because they’re your favorite but because they symbolize true love. He’s probably similar to Nanami and booked a restaurant date bc let’s face it he is a busy guy.

Giyu - he’s written out a whole admission to you about how he would’ve never been this happy in life without you. He’s probably not gone overboard with gifts or flowers but will make sure to cook your favorite meal, even if it’s incredibly difficult, he’s looking up recipes 2 weeks ahead of time.

Aizawa - seems like a card and chocolate type of guy. Nothing too sentimental but he’s planned a movie date and picked up your favorite take out. Is very comfortable in the relationship (I think it would take him so long to get into one that he falls into comfy living immediately)

Dabi - literally doesn’t care until he sees how sad you are and that you actually care about this stuff. Once you explain that it’s nice feeling appreciated he not only appreciates your body this year but makes an effort in years to come.

Toji - he’s a flowers only guy. He’s also rocking your world for sure but it’s probably going to be the patient kind of love. Also he def got a lil present for each of the kids.

How cinder enters the world of crime? I know this feels a simplistic question but it also can adds layers to world building. Like, say he was kicked out of the Himura household at 15...what he would do? Join a crime organization right away?

Assuming someone took him in. Did he wanted do crimes or was his only option?

I ask this bc...many Himuras we see are either in shitty situations or in crimes. Rei did endure a crime against her. Geten is an attack dog and Mizumi is the leader of a gang(benevolent as they all may be...it's still a gang)

And my final question (s)

How Cinder reacts to possum? See, possum wants destruction for the sake of destruction and anyone sane would say "fuck you" to that. Even if Cinder was a malicious and evil person...there was nothing to gain with Shig. (I HC many capable villains scoff and turn down working with LoV even if they are fans of Stain. Dabi is the best one and to this day I don't get why he joins LoV.)

Would Cinder and Nine be on good terms or enemies?

I mean, when you're kicked out of your house to survive in the streets isn't like you get many options.

My guess is that Mizunami started from the bottom working for some low tier gang before leave and form his own group, aka the Cider House gang.

For the moment I can't give a more fleshed out answer to that specific question, but considering Mizunami aptitude after the prison break we can assume he at least enjoys being free comit crimes as robbery as much he wants, despite having a more noble side by avoid harm civilians. Perhaps he got the habit with the years, don't know really.

No villain with an IQ of more than 2 digits would find Shigaraki a worthy option to work with, and we know Cider is way to smart for that.

If you think about it, not even the MLA soldiers actually liked Shigaraki as their new leader. They were pretty much against it but stayed loyal only because Re-Destro (a bigger idiot) suddlenly became Shigaraki number 1 bootlicker.

Why Dabi joined lov? Because Horikoshi wanted his dumb villain group but didn’t even bother to write a believable reason for that.

I would say Mizunami and Nine would be in neutral terms all things considered.

Cider would find Nine to be way more dangerous than Shigaraki, because unlike crusty boy Nine is man with strong convictions and capable to do way more damage. And also his ideology remind Mizunami to his brother Geten, which isn't q good signal.

But from Nine side I don't think he would mind Cider that much. As unlike Re-Destro who has a similar mindset and will kill you for not join his cause, Nine doesn't seem to mind of people following him or no, after all his ideal world is one in which the strongest rule but he doesn't harm the weaks just because he can (as he didn't kill the heroes he stealed quirks or Katsuma dad for example).h

I once said Tomura vaguely had she/they vibes to me on tiktok, back when I had one, and people ate me alive bc I listed his hair as a reason (and also bc I continued forward with using he/him pronouns throughout the video and I'm like...but that's the canon and I'm talking about something theoretical that I don't necessarily have a hard hc of, they/them Dabi is a different story lol) and people were like "thinking femininity is tied to long hair is transphobic and misogynist and blah blah" and it's like no you completely missed my point.

Firstly, I know that, because back when I was a girl and embracing my femininity in ways that I won't now that I identify as more masculine, I had short hair. I always had short hair. Androgynous girls with short hair lead me to the conclusion of being nonbinary.

Secondly it's not about the hair length, it's about the hair STYLE. Every transfem I've ever met started with that style or similar when it grew out. It's cute, it's fun, they're playing with long hair for the first time or even just in a new context.

It's also just about the general vibe. I listed elegance as a reason too, just the way he moves, but nobody considered how he's also so NOT elegant sometimes. It's the type of elegance he has, because there are so many different types. It's also int he way his so expressive. He shows so much on his face, which men tend to do in manga but it just feels different with Shigaraki. Again, I'm going on vibes.

Also being a nonbinary girl suits him because he'd be a total girlfailure, a loser girl, and I love that. Every transfem I knew was also a massive nerd. Most importantly I don't see him performing femininity in a traditional way. He is performing femininity by identifying as feminine and performing. He wouldn't change how he dresses or talks, he would simply realize that his identity isn't quite what he thought and run with it, because that's the kind of person he is. All those masculine codes brash actions like putting his feet up on overhaul's table to show dominance, and using ore, none of those things NEED to change because gender is so complex and that's FUN.

Again. This is mostly off vibes. I know a lot of people that think it/it's or other neopronouns suit him, and I can see that, especially with the way he dehumanizes himself (and with his stinky rat behavior, something a lot of nonbinary people, myself included, identify with), but that element actually makes me personally stray from that hc. Shigaraki dehumanizes himself in a negative way, and I think that's not good for him. Of course an argument can be made for that being the call all trans people have to be vaguely inhuman and monstrous in ways that only we really understand, so I don't think it's a bad hc at all.

I mean honestly he reads trans masc just as much. A lot of the league reads kind of trans because we tend to see ourselves in weird little outcasts. It's just a vibe a get from him. A lot of the she/theys I've met just also kind of have this "fuck gender and expectations, I'm doing my own thing over here".

Also there is of course the constant of Shigaraki chosing how he identifies himself and defying the expectations other people have placed on those identities. He's Shigaraki because he is, not because of AFO. That's his villain name because he connects to it. Despite all that he constantly gets deadnamed too. It's just...the vibes, the ability for anyone to read into anything what they want because their own experiences and it will fit because fiction is flexible (and even when it doesn't, does it matter?).

Anyway, his vibes, his masculine features and mannerisms along with the feminine ones and the feeling of being feminine even without having to conform to it (much like Magne did, and lots of people read her design as transphobic but tiger was literally there performing as a full transitioned man still comfortable with his feminine side, and it's like...all the trans women I know don't bother to shave and wear masculine clothes either occasionally or always even after starting hrt). It's finding a home within yourself as you slot the missing pieces into place and realize you find joy in different pronouns because they better describe you. Every trans person has their own wild ass journey and uses different ways to describe themselves with different things that bother them or don't and I think trans hc are fun for that very reason.

i’ve been reading godmaker for the first time and i’m not super far into it (i’m on the third chapter) but it’s reminding me a lot of sharing beds like little kids insofar as the readers have similar abilities and the tragedy hovers in the atmosphere similarly. i’m not sure how to articulate it but it’s that foreboding feeling that all of this has been decided already and we’re all hurtling toward inevitable heartbreak. and i think that’s u grappling with the existing tragedies present in the source material of the manga/anime but i wanted to let u know that it’s a really great atmosphere for the fic. it hurts a lot to know that the hope within these fics is very small and proportional to how powerful and how deeply constrained the main characters are by their situations in life. whether it’s hawks with being a hero or dabi becoming a villain or gojo becoming a god i think it’s really interesting that u grapple with these themes. it’s really interesting to draw a through line across these two fics. it also makes me think about coin toss a bit and how you’ve talked about how that’s like The Story u wanted to tell about tomura. it’s really resonated with me since u published it bc it really encapsulates the tragedy of tomura and hero society. and i just wanna say thank u that u approach these topics in ur fics bc they’re not easy but they’re really rewarding as a reader trying to engage in the source material in a way that isn’t really done by the creators of the mangas themselves

there are several things to know about me: i love tragedies. i love stories dealing with time. i think there is a great deal of room for tragedy within plots centering time. and like you said, i just really wanted to tease out those elements of tragedy that i saw within the original works.

in general with heroes (or gods)—there’s this fate tied to them. you know? when we deal with such titan figures, there is a myth and fate tied to them. gojo especially to me is like…so macbeth-ian (perhaps getou is moreso but. they both are) in the sense that….was he always going to be a god? or did he make himself that way because that what was expected and told to him? does it matter—if he by his own violation or not would still become one?

and i like inserting a reader that further emphasizes or complicates that. i also just like my very powerful, all-knowing, cassandra readers.

oh ouch 😭🥺 this hurts, but I do love me some angst and honestly my self ship with Touya includes something similar bc I love to torment him, so I wanna explore this a little. but no he really does deserve the world and I hate that all he ever gets is pain :( so let's fix that while we’re at it sdjasd

You and Touya fell in love when you were very young. You were his best friend and the only solace that he had in the world, aside from his younger brother. You were the only one who knew what really went on in that house and you wanted to scream it from the rooftops after Touya's accident, but it wouldn't have done you any good. No one would believe you.

They still wouldn't, even now that you were married to the Number 2 hero. He reminds you a lot of Touya, in a way. He'll never be him, but you can't spend your whole life mourning a boy you loved as a child. You're happy, especially now that you have your son, who looks similar to his father in that he has his wings and the markings around his eyes, but those eyes are yours. He has your face too. Touya wants to hate the child, but he can't. Not when he makes you so happy. Not when he looks just like you. He's only a child after all. Children shouldn't bear the burden of an adult's regrets.

He wants to tell you that he survived. He's always wanted to tell you, but he knew it was for the best if he stayed away. He tried to ignore you. Tried and tried to convince himself not to check up on you, but of course he failed. In a world full of social media, it wasn't hard to keep tabs on you. He's always cheered you on from a distance. Shared in your pain from afar. He's been the every step of the way, wishing that he could truly experience life side by side with you, the way that he was supposed to, but he can't. He knows.

Still, he checks in on you. It's even easier now that you're basically famous. Being married to the most popular hero around will do that. He can't open his phone without seeing a picture of you and your happy little family. He should be happy for you, but he isn't. He's too miserable. He's too enraged. It makes him sick.

It hurts.

He's thinking of you when he makes his big reveal and exposes his father for what he truly is. He wonders if you'll see him. He wonders if you'll remember. If you'll even care.

You're sitting at home, playing with your son. It's a normal day until it isn't. Word has only just gotten back to you about how Keigo was horribly wounded by the villain Dabi. You put the tv on to keep your son occupied while you anxiously pace about the house, desperate for more word on your husband.

Then you see Touya's broadcast and your heart stops. It has to be a cruel joke. It can't be real. He's been gone for so long. How did he even survive? Is this actually happening? Is it wrong that you know deep down that you still love him, even now? Even after everything he's done? To innocents? To your husband?

You don't know what it says about you that you seek him out after the smoke has cleared. Maybe you don't want to. Hawks is back at home and you're grateful that he's safe, but you can't believe that he still idolizes Endeavor the way that he does. Even after everything that he's learned and especially considering what he went through as a child. Your head is in turmoil and your heart isn't fairing any better, so you do what you can to track Touya down.

You think that maybe if you can just find him, you can start to make sense of things, but when you finally come face to face with him, it only makes things harder.

He's standing right there. He'd still been watching you and he'd caught on to you trying to track him down, so he let you. Like a fool.

Now the both of you are standing here, staring into the eyes of the one person you never thought that you could live without for the first time in over a decade and everything feels the same, but you're both painfully aware of just how different things are now. You're terrified to speak and petrified by thr thought of letting him slip through your fingers again. You don't know what to say and neither does he, so you don't speak.

You close the distance, slowly at first, but when he takes his first hesitant step forward, you run into his arms and you embrace for what feels like forever, though you know it'll never last long enough.

You finally work up the nerve to say something, so you pull away before you lose it, only to have your breath stolen away when he kisses you.

And to both of your surprise, you kiss him back.

See i love how touya-nii is similar to his father cause i picture enji a little twisted, cause it makes the story that much more interesting. Like tnii doesn’t wanna be like his dad cause his dads a piece of shit but then again he would do (did) terrible things to reader bc he’s also just so so twisted IDK thats how i picture this set up in my mind

no that’s totally fair!!! and you’re totally right, too!! touya has a lot of his father in him, both in my AU and in canon, and you hit the nail on the head. he is just as twisted—if not even more-so—as his father is, despite hating his father for what he’s done (cycle of abuse!). but i have always kind of headcanoned (canon) dabi to have a lot of his mother in him, too. he has her hair, he has her body, he has her predisposition to mental illness, he has her coldness, he has her perseverance, etc etc etc, but that’s just a personal interpretation!! <3

this ask reminds me a lot of the rei pulling the ‘you’re just like your father’ card ask from like 2020 and how such a realization would send touya into an absolute meltdown

quick bullet point of 394 thoughts again:

-at face value, the chapter holds up! it's pulls together ochako's changing thoughts throughout the 2nd half of the series and brings them to a conclusion as she's faced with someone else's pain who isn't the ~victim of a villain~ but an actual villain herself.

-himiko is in turn affirmed by someone who is "normal," who has never been abnormal and never been in her shoes the way the league has, who actually adjusts her (ochako's) perspective and admits her perspective was wrong in order to accept himiko.

-i do find this to be a much better turn than the todofam or (jfc) the mutant storyline. yes, todofam is forced to confront the skeletons in their closet and "own" their mistakes (not gonna get into whether or not that's correct given how it's mostly endeavor's fault <3) but i think there's a notable lack of acceptance of the way dabi is now. the focus was on the mistakes of the past and how they failed touya, not about what dabi might want to hear and do now. dabi was fought all the way to the end whereas ochako actually did reach out.

-and this might be bcs of where himiko and dabi's problems diverge (himiko's problem is one that is inherent to her, an instinctually-ingrained drive that doesn't necessarily entail harming people, whereas dabi's is explicitly taking out a bunch of uninvolved people to stick it to a shitty father) but positioning dabi as an issue to be solved by the family, rather than as somebody deeply wronged by multiple people who has a right to his hatred and rage (disclaimer: ~but not to hurt other people~) was weak and unsatisfactory. especially when contrasted with the fact that he has been more harshly judged, scolded, and physically beaten down in comparison to an actual abuser.

-the mutant storyline is just blatant libshit that horikoshi couldn't even hide under the guise of being about interpersonal relationships lmfao.

-in short, himiko's story actually gets a nod about how people were wrong about her and how that led to her mistreatment in a way that todofam and mutant storylines don't acknowledge. there is actually a focus on her feelings and how she was wronged, instead of being preoccupied with listing reason #872 why dabi/spinner are bad people.

-thematically though, does the chapter hold up? i'm still never going to be a fan of a story where the answer is assimilation into a society that scorned them. while this chapter is better than the mutant storyline, it still feels like it'll take a similar path: bnha teases "the attitudes of society has to change," but it also pins the responsibility of incremental/respectable change on marginalized people. idk ig this will either be addressed way into the future or not at all so we'll see.

-himiko's (and the league's) fate is still a huge elephant in the room. you can call her cute but can you be in her (and her friends') corners if the state wants to imprison or execute her?😳 how much is the acknowledgement of the league's importance to himiko worth if we're comfortable putting them all in jail? if i wasn't already a prison abolitionist bnha could make me one.

-being a qwoc myself i can say that a nice girl can call me beautiful all she wants but if she's in favor of putting me in jail her words would mean jack shit <3

-the other huge elephant in the room is twice. like genuinely no one acknowledged that he is dead, he was killed by a hero, and that fact is responsible for 99% of himiko's current rage😭 and then he just dissipates like he's a metaphor for himiko's hate-fueled rampage😭 come the fuck on stop treating this like it's a metaphor with no answer, we know there is a specific person who is responsible for this. hawks🤝endeavor, characters the story can't accept are directly responsible for this bullshit.

Kinda like how blatant Endeavor having that Bakugo flashback was? (Especially since it was a frame where he literally has the OFA stars?)

As of right now, I think the reason behind that "sleeping power" line was to refer to how thick the Himura blood runs, not just any quirk in general. Piling the same sorts of quirks on top of each other over the generations may lead to some huge singularity for the quirk.

But then again, the singularity problem applies to the whole population, not just the Himuras.

Honestly, it sounds like Toga may be heading down a similar path with her quirk as Dabi just did.

And yeah. I did...make note of the potential application to Katsuki. Or Tomura. Or Izuku. Or All Might.

No idea if any of that will actually play out, but the possibility is very much there.

Hey, since we all agree AM, in canon, never gave any indication Izu is his heir and any "special treatment" (if we can even say am gave anything to Izu) is more bc people think am is Izu's dad (well shoto did and that makes sense) the scene of am saying you are next....lose a bit of its impact. On besties, people are shocked bc the idea of am being Izu's father and a abusive one( for those who don't know my au. Am never abused Izu! But to the public...the story of a girl who breaks bones and has going to the hospital a lot is Sus) gives a reaction out of people.

And is this what is missing in their dynamic. No one reacts, hell, Shoto thought Izu is a love child but...never does anything. No one seems to care.

In Besties, people do react to that and his popularity takes a toll even when is proved he never hurt Izumi...he is a bad mentor and missed many red flags. Now, am will react to the obvious.

I know people like to defend am saying he is a novice teacher and I get, I do. But am is still an idiot in my eyes, he shouldn't really waste time with the others students and focus on his heir WHO IS STRUGGLING WITH THIS QUIRK.

In canon, bk had no reason to think Izu is the chosen one of anything yet...still goes out of his way to hurt him...and we are supposed to be on his side! (Hori please!)

Btw in besties, dabi is repulsed by the idea am is a bad teacher and father. Yes, am never hurt Izumi but he, as a powerful man, never tried to help....how angry and dissapointed would dabi be?

That's the point, even in the narrative it was pointed out that only izuku midoriya understood the implications and the true meaning of that message whereas society just interpreted it as all might fulfilling his role as the symbol of peace and decaring that any villain who act out of line will face a fate of AFO's harsh beating.

Personally, I disagree bakugo never necessarily jumped to the conclusion that all might was talking about izuku but he did connect the dots and wildly jump to the conclusion that Izuku got his quirk from all might. Those are two different things and izuku in the beginning of the story dropped a hint that he got his quirk from someone, then bakugo saw all might and izuku interacting (which isn't weird but like I said it is a bit strange from Japan's social norms and the issue of nepotism), bakugo then saw all mights last fight, he also asked all might Personally what that was all about and all might refused to answer. All of these factors as well as bakugo losing it over what happend to him made him go and make a wild conclusion which resulted in a huge fight and all might and izuku telling him the truth.

I think rereading the chapter where bakugo confronts izuku would help show how he came to the conclusion.

Now while you have characters like shoto who don't know izuku since childhood think that all might is izukus dad you have bakugo who already knows that it isn't possible and simply resorts to another theory.

Personally, my main question is how and where the idea of all might being izukus dad came to play. Sure you can argue that it's because they have very similar quirks but at the same time I just don't really see it and I wish we got more of izuku and all might since yes all might is a bad mentor and their relationship is incredibly shallow with izuku and all might never developing since the moment they meet.

I think it's interesting and a good thing that you're going to deleve into both fan culture within mha, how infuelntial of a person all might is and the public relations of all of this. Having theories around all might the top hero in Japan but also a very secretive person whom people don't understand the nature of his quirk or know his full name it would be hella interesting to have a freshly retired all might get all of this bar reputation and how that particularly would effect the hero society.

Would this theory of all might being an abuser have people come up and show their solidarity for izuku whom they think is an abuse victim, would the endeavour agency try and use this to their advantage and prop up their number one hero? Or what would happen to the market? The all might products, merchandise and maybe all might having to deal with future lawsuits?

Japan is a country that takes honour, pride and reputation as a big deal so all might going through a huge public scandal like this would definitely effect him and I hope you explore that way more in depth.
