I was actually talking about this exact conversation with my friend yesterday!

And although I have A LOT of HCs about his parents and the intricacies about them as people, (Lacey & Arjun) their relationship with eachother, and to Max, in absolutely no way do I believe everything I HC would be cannon lmao.

It is heavily implied and inferred his parents do not emotionally care about him. Multiple general comments from Max, as well as explicitly saying "they do not care." There's room for a TWIST, yes, because these are characters who have never been showcased. We only have one action known from them directly we can gather n guess things about: his sign up sheet but so many arguments could vaildly be made why they didn't give him one AND many vaild arguments why it's proof they don't care. That's why there's still room for a twist there.

And that's just the absolute soild stuff, next we get into Max as a character and the "it's all a misunderstanding/exaggeration" theory. ((Again differences between HCs and theorys, I'll respect your HC all day but a theory can be debunked imo)) It would honestly be such a mischaracterization of him. Before I get into why I would just like to get meta for a second and I don't believe parents day as an episode would have been written as heavy as it was if the core problem was just a kid's misunderstanding. Cameron went to SUPER GUANTANAMO and swore VENGEANCE on David for not being able to prove his camp was legit, because David left choosing to comfort Max, over covering Cameron's ass.

But onto it being out of character, Max as we've seen can be emotionally immature but he is still MENTALLY mature. When Nikki thinks she's dying Max struggles to see past the /logic/ of it at first to see her /emotions./ So he'd be the MOST understanding /LOGICALLY/ if his parents have to work alot. Especiiiaaaally how we've seen him talk about politics and interact with money. BRO WOULD UNDERSTAND SO WELL THEY HAVE TO WORK 😭..

In abusive or just generally not good households it can be normal for a child to believe what is happening to them is normal bc they lack a different perspective. I'm not even saying this is Max's situation this is just to preference my next point.

It is rare for the opposite assumption to out last age 5. Where a child is in a completely fine household, but believes their parents don't care based on them working so much and them having to go to school/camp. It would be out of character so much for Max specifically because he is written to be incredibly observant compared to his peers.

I believe around the start of season 5 he compares home/school/family to a train wreck? Dumpster fire? I don't remember the exact wording but if I character is telling you to your face he thinks home and school is rough it boils down to:

Do we think this character is a reliable narrator? Have we been given reason to believe they've been confused, or lying? Or can we take what they've said as a reliable source of their experience? And I think in this case Max has only shown confusion on so little things of this caliber if at all, he's a reliable source about his experience.

Like he thought David was going to kill him but that was more a burst of paranoia/David genuinely acting suspicious depending on how you analyze it.

So in short TLDR: It's heavily implied instead of canonically shown from the characters themselves so there's room for a twist, but that said twist would have to be incredibly out of character for Max. That, and the gravity it was originally written in with, is why I don't think they were going to write that route.

1. How do the Paldea kids, Alola kids, Galar kids and the Unova protagonist and the other Unova characters who were with Steven at Reversal Mountain at that time (Plus Cheren and Bianca) think about the body swap? One by one?

2. How does the pokemon league of each region think about the body swap? One by one? This is also includes the gym leaders themselves.

3. How does the signature pokemon of the champions react to the body swap? How do they help their respective trainers?

4. What was the reaction of each Champion when they are in each other's bodies? Their thoughts, feelings and how they cope? Especially Geeta since she is in the body of Hau and Hau is a god damn child. Or Iris since she is in a body of an adult, Geeta? I think Bianca would notice second tho, cause ofc, Iris was usually so clingy to her, and would listen to her ramble on abt her research, but surprisingly, Iris was caught up in her own world, finding some rare rocks and stones

The kids did ask her abt her league tho, and abt Paldea, and what the region was like, they'd want to visit there some day. Geeta told them she has a protege there, close to their age, perhaps they'll meet Nemona one day, she is looking for trainers on par w her

Galar, yeah Dia is actually fooling all of them except ofc, Sonia and Raihan. Idk I don't think those two would tell anyone just yet, I think they did ask Dia what's going on, and Dia finally told them and even she's not sure how this happened, and she's still trying to figure out how to get back to her body bc of all the bodies she could've switched w, it just had to be Leon's

Paldea, Iris also isn't fooling anyone. Well, she's kinda fooling some of them, she and Hau impersonated some of the champions enough, and w Dia's acting lessons, well, she learned a thing or two. Then again, Penny was observant, Larry did notice too, he just, well, he isn't getting paid enough to care. Their champions come and go anyways, when asked abt why Geeta seems a bit off he'd just said "I don't know, do I look like her babysitter? That's one job I didn't applied for."

3] Dragonite, ah what a tough and terrifying dragon, he's so soft w Hau. Like, he knows that Hau is getting nervous, and it reminded him when Lance was also just a boy, when he tries so hard to act tough, so he's there nuzzling close to Hau, calming him down too

Metagross, ofc, it's a smart Mon, it knows it's Lance lmfao, but also, just to mess w Lance bc of how gruff his personality is, a far cry from Steven's, it often won't listen to him, y'know, just to fuck w him a bit lol

Look look listen I know Geeta's ace is Glimmora, but in my hcs, it's Kingambit, bc it fits and it should've been him at the start and I will die on this hill. 4] see, okay, while yeah, the age difference is a bit odd, but in my hcs I did change their ages and such, mainly bc when I write my hcs and aus, it's mostly set in like some timeskip after the events of each game y'know. So Hau is at least 15-17, while Iris is in her early 20s, so technically Iris is an adult

But yeah the gender dysphoria is so real, I think w Cynthia especially, bc for one, girl is trying her hardest to keep her life in check in her own body yeah, but w my hcs she's like, yeah she's not doing well, like, her left eye is scarred, her body was too thin, sometimes she forgets even the most basic of things, but Wallace's body was so different from hers. Sometimes she thinks this is what she could've been if she didn't spiral y'know, and during the time of the body swap, she kept thinking abt it. One of the few moments Milotic would actually be nice to her tho, as if reassuring her that hey, she's making an effort, and that's better than nothing

Geeta will admit tho, she did miss having a younger body, and wow was Hau flexible, Geeta wasn't that flexible when she was younger lmfao

Let‘s start with a bit of history on the Charcter ~

This is my self insert character (so she’s basically me, but fictional and pathetic) and her first conceptions started in 2015 when I was around 12 or 13.

So obviously my girl has a really long and complicated backstory and history, but for the sake of your and my time I‘ll just focus on her in the context of her insertion into „die Schule der kleinen Vampire“ wich is basically just something I‘m doing for fun.

I actually had the idea to revisit the franchise in 2022 for the lol’s, wich is where I drew first concept art of her in a style that’s a mix of the shows artstyle and my own.

Two versions of her haircolour exist in her own cannon and originally I drew her with her natural, dirt–blonde haircolour for this one, but then I started to dye my hair irl again, wich caused me to feel like her purple hair just fits better to me, her and the universe, colourscheme and her depiction and personality in general.

The Sflv comics I‘m drawing play in a future–AU where the main cast has hit their teenage years (around 14–16 vampire years, except Klot, he’s maybe like 11–13) and the whole show turned from a cute children’s show into a coming of age cartoon that contains adult humor and themes and swearing, as well as some minor gore and violence.

Most of it stemming from her presence.

Her name is Ivané aus dem Finstermoor, but she introduces herself as Wyrm to all characters, except friends and people who know her from the past and the Count, who‘s basically the first character she actually encounters and befriends in this. He still calls her Wyrm infront of others out of respecting her wish to not having everyone knowing her name.

She herself is a traveler/Vagabond, who‘s constantly on the run from people who hunt her or have a fuse with her. In terms of species she’s a mix of Tatzelwurm and Harpy (but primarily Tatzelwurm) she also has a symbiotic relationship with an alien parasite that lives in her spine and causes her to sprout tentacles from time to time and has no ovaries, just a hole with a clit. She’s also a semi–shapeshifter. (Wich means she has a limited amount of appearances to shapeshift into) If she’s cut in half at her waste she’ll grow a seven meter long snake tail and if she’s cut in half again, she’ll grow a tail and legs. The Harpy side in her also causes her the ability to turn into an owl by reflex and sport a pair of black feathered wings (but that happens rarely). But most of the time she tries to blend in by drinking a potion that gives her a humanoid appearance.

Also She has three pet Cats

In the AU (wich doesn’t just include classic horror, but now even more modern and lovecraftian cryptits like skincrawlers, mothman, Cthulhu and Lizardpeople) a door just suddenly appears in the forest and whoever enters it, finds themselves in a grotto with a lake and hole to the surface above it, where she resides, as a result of someone having trapped her there through a curse. So every time she tries to leave, a wall of flesh blocks her way. In the beginning she just lounged there on a rock in the middle of the lake, pretending to be an old hag–lamia (bc she knows that people will quickly judge a young, pretty woman) who just wants some essentials like food and drink in return for things like sewing ripped clothing or minerals in the cave.

Later on a few people catch on that there’s a creature living in that grotto and start sacrificing people in worship of her, wich is an opportunity she takes and soon enough she‘s exchanging their bodyparts and blood for food and material to build a little bar/store on that lake.

Except for their heart… those she needs to turn into her humanoid form and escape that spell for roughly a day.

Count Alarich basically stumbled across that door one night and enters it, finding Ivané in her disguise as an old hag, starting to chat and over time become friends. One other day she dared to leave the grotto and enters the village from the show and starts looking around, making acquaintances and joining a gothic metal rave in the evening.

When she walks home at night, the count, not knowing who she actually is, spots her and ofc plans to bite her, so dude uses hypnosis to lure her in. But Muschy (the grey Sphymxcat) notices that and jumps out of her backpack, causing his Werewolf to chase after the kitty, wich results in the count being dragged away, holding the leash. Ivané is conscious again and Muschy gave the Wolf a punch to the snout, she escapes and just keeps her human identity a secret from Alarich, while befriending him more and more as the hag at the bar.

Eventually she slowly drops the disguise with every time he visits her and soon, he catches on on who she is and they become mutual fuckbuddies.

basically lance at that age (like 11-12) is portrayed as a kinda shy and anxious kid who tends to keep to himself but is really nerdy and smart and well aware of his surroundings. he’s still a kid and he can be dumb and impulsive but he’s emotional and clings to people who show him affection. eugene’s the opposite, he’s super charismatic and talks his way out of things easily but he never really thinks before he acts and it gets him into trouble really easily. but together they balance each other out, and eugene is super protective of lance bc he knows he’s the more shy and cautious one.

they’re such a good team bc they balance out each others strengths and weaknesses perfectly. but lance actually has a point where he felt betrayed by eugene and it hit so hard despite the plot being so messy. LIKE HE GENUINELY TOLD HIM OFF AND STOOD UP FOR HIMSELF AND IT WAS SO GOOD?? and then theres the whole alleged scrapped lance and eugene backstory episode which might not even be real but its CANON TO ME EVEN IF ITS NOT BC THATS HOW GOOD IT IS. yk the one where eugene almost got adopted and lance was afraid of being left behind so he broke a window and blamed it on eugene so the couple wouldn’t want him anymore? Yeah. Yeah i think about that a normal amount actually!

AND ITS BC. ITS THE SAME DYNAMIC KIERA AND CATALINA HAVE. WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO IT. Perma-deaths. Most people aren't immortal, and even the ones who claim to be actually just have a slower degradation(?) rate than others. degradation, aka how likely someone’s next death is to be permanent, is represented by a number (percentage? work with numbers first then maybe compare to using percentages instead, supposed to be confusing to people who haven’t trained in the system). when an admin reaches a high enough clearance level they learn about such degradation scores and are taught how to access them to see how at risk a player is in an emergency (ie. suicide, long stays on anarchy servers, kidnapping/experimentation, etc.). it is possible to see the past history of when the number changes however that requires the assistance/one-time permission from one of the highest admins, usually an admin can only see the singular number. In order to view the number an admin has to look  directly at the player’s code, which makes it a giant privacy violation (thus why only for emergencies). The fact that this is even something that can be done is kept on a very need-to-know basis. if a player is in danger up to three friends can be informed of the danger (how likely they are to experience a perma-death, not the manner in which the admin knows), additionally it is very rare for admins to be taught of it in the first place, usually limited to high-up/trusted, typically natural-born admins (X is natural-born) as well as admins running particularly high-risk servers (ie. hermitcraft’s ‘safe space’ category for many creatures and hybrids). anarchy admins are not allowed to know unless under very dire circumstances. there is currently heavy research as to what causes the score to go up (or down, very very rarely), and the general consensus is that it is higher when one is very young and old (specific age varies by species), it typically mellows out around the young child (no longer infant) stage and is typically very close to 0 by teen years (scale is 0-10, goes into specific decimals, highest number currently recorded is an 8.7, most people perma-die before their number reaches 8.5, typical average without unforeseen complications is 7.9.) preexisting health conditions, gained health conditions, traumatic temp-deaths, random chance, and general unidentified factors all raise the score. additionally, anarchy servers (servers in which the world is set to a mix or hard and hardcore, in which deaths are almost always traumatic but don't typically outright ban/delete your code + kick you from the world) are easily the quickest way of a score increase, typically why many anarchy players die easily despite seeming very strong/healthy. If a player has experienced multiple traumatic deaths before their teens, or an excessive amount in their teens, they can face a drastic increase in number or, in the first case, not have their number decrease as they leave the child stage (typical in players who have grown up/lived on anarchy servers from a young age) (also why all players are given multiple chances to leave anarchy players (if they can make it to the exit, many servers try very hard not to let them, which is technically illegal but hard to enforce)). Hardcore servers aren’t quite as bad as anarchy servers, a players number is automatically set a bit higher than usual while on server but experiences a slower incline while/after playing than an anarchy player would (ie. higher chance of on-server perma-death, lower chance of post-server death).

Much research is being done into ways to lower the degradation score but not much has been found. Many suspect a higher entity to be involved (Kristen/death is highly tied to it but it's really just natural, not her doing. Phil perma-died on his hardcore world bug had spoken with Kristen while on-server and they’d fallen in live so Kris used gold-privileges (she’s not entirely sure how and doubts she could (or wants to) do it again) to set his number to 0 after his death so he can technically still die he just has an abnormality long lifespan. Similarly Techno’s voices (remnants of the blood god) absorb some of his added score which gives him a lower degradation rate despite being a common anarchy player, this absorbed score does however transfer over into bloodlust in situations of extreme emotion. Nearly all immortals simply have very slow rates or naturally long lifespans. On the topic of stopping the rate, most don't mess with it as it is clearly divinity-related and they don't want to anger gods (a few have tried and they did not meet good ends). however a small group of once-rogue admins now known as the Watchers had ties to Herobrine, who was a god of destruction and, in his bid to cause such, gave the Watchers the knowledge of how to artificially raise the degradation rate (void rot pog) just before a few other gods teamed up to trap him (gods/deities are the only true-immortals, they have no degradation rate). Eventually the Watchers tired of destroying and, realising that they themselves would one day die (the void rot they used on others also slightly sped up their already slowed rates) sought to find ways to stop it. They began to experiment on anarchy players who would not be missed, avoiding the gaze of deities by hiding deep in the void, close enough to the abyss that their trace was masked and washed away. Eventually theys et their eyes on EVO due to Grian being a natural-born admin (they hadn’t been able to get their hands on one before due to high guarding) as well as an anarchy-raised player. (YHS and ‘terra’ aka earth were anarchy servers, so he essentially stayed in anarchy until he left YHS. Pearl was also there at first (siblings yey. Timmy’s adopted), but after Grian was abandoned in Japan her parents took her off-server). Grian had a skill for code and bendable morals as well as a slightly off view of perma-death due to his upbringing so he’d discovered the degradation rate on his own without contact with the main council. The time-jumping was a Grain-intended feature of EVO but the Watchers offered to help and he (like the basically-child he was), agreed due to them claiming to be ‘invested admins’. the Watchers fiddled with the code throughout the updates to see if anything would change the DRs of the players. Eventually they realised that the continuous traumatic deaths Grian had experienced as a child, while raising his rate with each one, basically slowed the natural progression to 0, they took him after the ender dragon fight and used a sigil to make sure the players couldn't talk about what happened with anyone (even people who already knew).

The listeners were a second group of admins that were also trying to find ways to reduce the DR but did so through more scientific and moral ways, Martin and Jimmy were contacted by them while on EVO and were able to tell them some of what was happening before the Watchers implemented the sigil. Anyways the Watchers took Grian and, having a solid way to perma-kill someone by forcing their number up (highly, highly painful + traumatic void rot), decided to force his number up while ensuring he didn't perma-die by pseudo-setting his DR to 0 (they figured out how to do this by essentially freezing the target in a time loop, however everyone they had previously used it on perma-died immediately after leaving the loop). Grian was essentially stuck in an infinite loop of dying to void rot to the point his already high number reached 10 and overode itself back to a permanent technical 0, actual 10 in which every death is experienced as a perma-death (highly painful, leaves scars and pain lasting months afterwards, almost always results in some form of ptsd), but functions as a temp-death, aka he perma-dies but doesn’t stay dead. The Watchers don’t realise this though and think, after he comes out of the loop with his number at 10 and an immediate perma-death that they failed again. Grian meanwhile gets pseudo-yeeted into Kristen’s domain where she starts to treat him like a dead soul (he is relieved, void rot deaths hurt and he’s always cold now) before he is -painfully- torn back to the living. the Watchers though he was perma-dead so they had burned his body, leaving him to respawn at a glitched respawn point in the Watcher library. He panics in general but even more so when a Watcher comes in and self-preservation skills kick in and he writes over his own code in a panic to match that of the Watcher’s, unknowingly marking himself as an apprentice archivist. He ends up being forced yo go along with the pretend role for a long (but unknown amount of time (void/Watcher time shit is yucky)) before he rises high enough in the ranks to gain access to the research on stopping/slowing the DR. He realises that's what they are trying to do with him (he’d been looking into it beforehand but really only came to the ‘torture’ conclusion.) (Watchers go out of their way to avoid any kind of death so he didn’t experience any more temp-perma-deaths while with them) and ends up -after plans and allies (bigB?)- copying the information just in case before escaping in ::sparkles:: dramatic fiery destruction :::sparkles::, some of the Watchers die and ‘Xelqua’ and their allies are marked as traitors and enemies. The Watchers work to regain their progress but Grian had set up an excessively strong sigil to block any knowledge of it from them so they work to break that first. Grian ends up self-sacrificing to get the others out safely (he’s seen his degradation rate and knows any death will be permanent) as well as partly selfish reasons (suicide oof). He has a breakdown when he and Kristen realise exactly what’s happened and that he won’t be able to stay dead despite experiencing such painful deaths. The most Kristen can do is set his spawn point to one of his old friends (Mumbo’s) singleplayer worlds in hope that Mumbo can at least help Grian get away and stay away from the watchers.

As a watcher (Or HC 23) Grian can’t die, the Hermits get captured ((ex-)watchers? (good watchers + anarchists accidentally broke G’s perma-death %?) anarchists?, ex-admins?) and the capturers decide to torture the Hermits to get to X. Eventually they come back with an experimental (hacked in, very illegal) potion that temporarily forces a player to experience any deaths while under its effects as perma-deaths, but still respawn later as if they were normal deaths. They use it on one hermit for a bit before Grian pisses them off enough (and they realise X is the closest with him (platonic love pog)) that they use it on him. X begs them to stop and eventually they stop and leave him to bleed out after they know the potion has worn out. The hermits are chained up and can’t reach him to help, he dies. And then he doesn’t. They forgot to chain him up and while he is too weak to even really stand up, he does manage to send a distress signal (to who? Watchers? admins?) before passing out. People come back and think he barely survived and decide to use the potion again as a ‘reward’. Most of the hermits just think G got lucky and the potion hadn’t worn off, a couple (who?) realise he actually did die but he came back somehow. Eventually they are rescued (probably by the watchers (make the group that first broke G’s % ex-watchers/a rogue group))

hi there the book of merthur is one of my favorite fics and i have a question about it, i hope this is the right place to ask and you don't have a writing sideblog or anything?

I'm such a fan of The Mums from the book of merthur, but i'm curious what made you decide to keep Igraine alive? was it for any particular reason for a plot? spite against the BBC for fridging her before the story even started? Just bc you wanted to make A Mum and unleash her on the story with a cooking ladle and a lot of anger to get out? Not that I'm complaining, she and Hunith are a terrifying force to reckon with and a point of hilarity across the book. But i haven't read a lot of fics where Igraine lives, and even fewer where she has a major effect on the story as your Igraine does. definitely an underrepresented character with a ton of potential!

As soon as i started reading your fic (many months ago) i could tell you're knowledgeable in the Arthuriana, and as i've been making my own fic and doing research about the Arthuriana, I learned that the more popular spelling of her name is Igraine and not Ygraine (and let me tell you, it's been a bastard trying not to confuse the names Ygraine and Yvaine in my fic), and so i also wondered if you had any deeper Arthurian reason for choosing to spell her name Igraine instead of Ygraine or was it just easier on the writing/reading? (I personally repeatedly mistype BBC's Gwaine as Gawain cause that was the first spelling of his name i became familiar with, also an incredibly annoying mistake of mine.)

This is my only blog, so this is the right place to ask! Also, thank you for asking; I rarely get questions about inspirations/thought processes and I love talking shop about writing. I'm going to put this under a cut because, surprise, someone who wrote a 600k+ fic is long-winded. lmao

It's been four years since I started the fic, and the pandemic has turned that into about 84, so I can't remember exactly what pushed me to keep Igraine alive, but the first chapter was inspired by a version of the folktale St. George and the Dragon (sometimes also called St. George of Merrie England) that I read shortly before deciding I wasn't done trying to purge myself of BBC Merlin. The image of an enchantress carrying babies away to a cave in the woods piqued my interest, and that segued into me deciding to make Arthur one of those babies. While there are loads of versions of Arthurian stories, most of them show Arthur's conception as happening through Igraine becoming pregnant by Uther after he uses magic to trick her into thinking he is her husband, which is real gross and rapey of him, so I think probably what sparked the initial idea to have Igraine live was that I wanted to play that out a bit and show the repercussions of it and how Arthur was an innocent who obviously was not at fault whatsoever for what happened--but he was still the product of rape and a part of Uther, a man Igraine despised. And of course you can't explore a mother/son relationship that complicated if the mother is dead.

Also, BBC Merlin is a total sausage fest and, quite frankly, I think the writing for all the women was TERRIBLE, so part of it was also just me wanting more women in the story who felt like actual complicated humans and not one-note villains or love interests. Hunith and Igraine are both middle-aged, and I liked the idea of giving them a bit of space and a voice in the type of story that's generally about dashing young people running around swinging swords and getting rescued from towers.

As for the spelling, if I remember correctly, in the first canon era fic I wrote, I did actually spell it as Ygraine, so I've used both spellings in my work. But honestly, I chose Igraine this time around because I knew it would come up a lot more and it's just easier for my English-speaking brain to remember. There are multiple, slightly tweaked versions of many of the characters, and spellings and even names change slightly depending upon the source (Morgana is a good example of this), so if a character is going to be a recurring one in any of my stories, I go with whatever is going to be easiest on my brain. (And yes, Gwaine/Gawaine is annoying; I think we've all made that mistake.) I have done a LOT of reading on various Arthurian texts, so usually there is a more specific reason for something and a particular source of inspiration, but in this case it's really just, 'There are eight million variations of spelling for this, I'm going with the one that's easiest to remember in a 600k story where I already have to keep track of a billion things.'

Also, I want you to know that the bookmark note you left on Book of Merthur referring to a 'wet sock of a gay person' made me laugh, and I still think about it randomly and laugh about it. lmao

In a nutshell, the shipp was created by accident while me and my buddy were working on our first Naruto AU in 2019, where Kakuzu and Deidara survived their shitty plotholes end eventually ended up in Konoha

Yeah

so, the shipp’s birth date is july the 1, 2019

anything like classy, aristocracy kind of tension-filled passionate gothic romance with playful, psychological games & hurt/comfort vibes with slight scent of rivalry is KakuAnko

Basically, they are: a very, very old man with absolutely horrendous background who’s trying to finally have his mother*cking 10 or 30 years of peace, and a rather young lady with a rocky youth who’s being good & noble yet has very strong antihero tendencies

You know, I think they do have potential, since, in fact, they seem to be very similar, at the core

They are both very pragmatic realists, the people of logic and reason, yet if Kakuzu’s irritability doesn’t affect him a tiny bit due to his ideal self-control, Anko’s can lead her to quite bad places, sometimes. They put their interests in the first place, and even though she tries to attach them to Konoha’s, she still has ‘personal’ things (I’ll write ‘bout it lower*). Their mindsets are so complicatedly organized that, at some point & way, it prevents them from having many close people, and makes them very hard to see through and predict

Both of them are very flexible & adaptive, independent individuals with similar outlooks on plenty of things and high intellectual level. They clearly can find plenty of traits that they would highly respect and adore in each other

Here I will speak mostly for “why and how” kind of things, bc both of them are terribly tricky to accurately figure out. But there will be some headcanons too

So, there are still some odds about them, due to the strong difference in their occupation, like, in plenty of cases they are really tricky to be brought together, because:

- Of the job

In original, Anko is a Konoha’s special jounin, and she is very dedicated to serving the country. Independently of whether she likes her job or not (depends on the plot), she orienteers at the people, at society’s gain from her work. So, accordingly, in any other AU her job is somehow connected to civil service, whether it’s something police-like, connected to science, or something like CCG in Tokyo Ghoul

Kakuzu, on the other hand, is a hitman and a persona non grata in literally all the five big countries, Konoha too (which makes it barely possible to bring them together in the original universe without hard complications or heavy drama. But still possible). He orienteers on his own gain alone, but, depending on the job, it can include others’ gain, too.

This detail makes him a saint once he holds supervising position in some company or any high position in the government (the better the working conditions of the staff now- the more money in the prospective), and the sheer nightmare once he has it on the opposite side of the law. Him as a mob boss is a complete different topic for discussion, but to get the point, in this case, the trouble isn’t him increasing the level of criminality (its rather vice-versa), but taking hold of too much control in the high and underground structures. Even as an ordinary hitman he’s rather tricky, since everything depends on the case

In most of the stories, they come to some sort of compromise, and how hard it is to reach it depends on how shitty his job is and how attached they are to each other at the moment

Like, in the above mentioned Shippuden AU and Harry Potter AU (which I also wrote with my buddy) everything went like clockwork, because there they are both more or less on this side of the law, in Tokyo Ghoul AU (which I also wrote with my buddy) it is a bit more complicated, with her being in-law and him being very much outlaw, in the Avatar AU (which I also figured out with my buddy, but we never happened to write it) it is also pretty smooth, with both of them being outlaws and then jumping out to the glory after all the shit is done, but in another Shippuden AU of mine, this all would be just a motherfucking bloody disaster

- Kakuzu is actually a hard nut to get attached to anyone

He lived too long to be truly afraid of anything, though. Its mostly because he doesn’t really need to get attached to or become close with someone to satisfy his need for communication. The man can get along with anyone once he wishes to, he can have countless acquaintances and plenty of buddies, but he doesn’t have many comrades and barely can call anyone a friend. Because he is used to lose everything and everyone he ever had or happened to have, because of his inhumanly lengthened lifespan.

It requires time for him to get used to the person, and then, eventually, in some cases, spend plenty of it to get attached

Plus, for him, due to his profession, each close connection is a really great responsibility for him. In most cases, he’d think twice of weather he is ready to take it or not

Though it of course has the personal factor, too

In Anko’s case, she has a grand privilege by being a very intelligent and keen woman, not just in cognitive plane, but in emotional, too. High emotional intellect is actually a rare trait, so she automatically stands out of the crowd for him. Even though it won’t guarantee his alliance, it will grant her his high respect and some sort of sympathy

- Kakuzu is, technically, an asshole

He does have his moral compass, which includes a great amount of common social morality, but he also has that “I am working” state

Even though Kakusu has a set of professional principles, and he still acts accordingly to what he thinks is right, one and the very same situation can be solved diametrically different once the context changes from working to casual and vice versa

This, and him being very independent and quite antisocial, makes the degree of assholeness depend on various factors

This can lead to major conflicts of interests, and if they are possible to have any compromise or not is strongly attached to the circumstances. After all, both are very, very prideful and dignified people

- In other words, the only major issue for them would be morality questions. It’s possible to make the case acceptable for Anko, since both of them ain’t truly squeaky clean, along with Kakuzu being willing enough to watch his borders

- She is provident and doesn’t really need a lot of money on a daily basis, which is much of a joy to him lol

- *they both seek for the stable ground, first of all

Taking in consideration the life conditions Kakuzu had in his youth (despite war state, he still stably had family, friends, grand respect from everyone, home, warmth and food) and how terribly he was torn out of his secured social environment, I believe what he seeks through all his bounty hunt and other money-connected manipulations is stability. Sustainability he had back then. The only way to have it in the conditions of our existent world order is to have money (and a very good mind and luck)

Anko has indeed much more altruistic motives, yet it’s still not that simple. It seems to be, on the first sight, yet considering the “Orochimaru related cases” and her very wayward behavior toward them, it’s clear she keeps her own motives and needs in mind oh so well. The service she has is very well payed, it allows her to do what she likes or believes is right, and to have the living conditions she finds comfortable. And only here, relying on the made sustainable basis, she does what she does

- Thus, they both illustrate the principle “first help yourself, next help the other” just right

- She knows she can keep an eye on him, yet it’s clear for her that her influence isn’t borderless, as well as telling him off some stuff is kind of a not wise thing to do. So in the majority of cases, she never interferes

- This is not common, yet he can actually change some plans if the situation is serious and the compromise can’t be found. He is that kind of person who works on a further prospective, and in this context, this would be the relationship with his loved one

- While Kakuzu is quite conflicted and has very reserved controversial persona, Anko is both controversial, conflicted, and sort of two-faced, on top of that

She is a very sincere, cheerful and humbly honest human being, yet she has some darker natural traits of her character that became rather strong with age and traumatic experience. Cunningness, guile, ways-depend-on-the-case and a bit of ruthlessness, that is. Moreover, she has some unsolved personal issues, which makes her even more twisted.

Like, remember the time when she confronted Orochimaru during the exam? And Kabuto, on the war? Getting rid of them is indeed beneficial for Konoha, but it’s clear that for her it is personal vendetta in the first place. She wouldn’t have tried to do this alone, otherwise, because these two are rather dangerous ones, to say the least.

She uses greater good to cover her real motives (even though it is not truly complete bullshit), and seems to have a terrible habit to keep silence about really important things, which makes her quite prone to lying, in some cases

And sometimes it very badly pisses Kakuzu off, since it makes her prone to doing useless but dangerous shit too

Yet this not any kind of separate hidden side, it is integrated into her personality, and coexists with her bright one. That’s where her violent humour comes from, for example.

But Kakuzu, on the other side, is completely monolith individual, yet sometimes his mindset can create contradictions when it comes to something important to him. but it's another topic

And seeing these layered constructions, and motives, they can pretty finely predict each other’s behavior. Not super-neatly, but they for sure see the basis. This is what helps Kakuzu to prevent Anko from doing some stupid shit, sometimes

- Anko has a role of an indicator for the people who don’t understand and see the changes in Kakuzu’s mood sometimes, since she usually reacts quite openly. Yet, when she has the same unreadable mask of cold, or one of guile, it’s a nightmare for them

- They prefer the non-verbal way to show their feelings, even though Anko is obviously the more chatty one

- They don’t say things such as “I love you”, or other sensual stuff like that really often, believing it to be some sort of cherished words that shall not be spelled mindlessly

- Anko isn’t majorly into PDA, but she fancies it much more than Kakuzu does. She has her whole moments of studying something with her hands, whether it’s a hand, scar or face. He’s more into passive display of affection, like wrapping an arm over her waist or leaning to her or something of this kind; they can allow themselves to (not sexually) kiss in public though

- She knows he doesn’t like to walk hand in hand due to considering it a youthful thing, so there are times when she intentionally walks holding on to his sleeve; generally they walk separately in order not to bother each other, but sometimes they walk arm in arm (like an old Victorian couple lol)

- Being older and wiser, Kakuzu eventually upholds some kind of mentoring position, yet he never considers himself any kind of a teacher or master to Anko, believing her to have a good head of her own. He is just insightful enough to break something through to her or give a word of advise

- This, combined with his highly powerful demeanor, also makes him have the leading position in their relationship

- Anko respects him much enough to fortify this, entrusting with plenty of life questions (like organizing the family budget), even though they make the majority of decisions together. Mostly because he is truly wise and highly experienced individual.

- This makes him one of the very few people Anko would actually listen to and take their opinion in consideration

- So basically they have equal relationship with some tendency to patriarchal order

- And it is, really, mostly economically-based disbalance, with him earning much more than she does

- Yet they never have any financial-based issues, since both of them keep in mind and respect the contributions of each

- There is major power play here, too. He has the absolute might, she has seduction. Anko loves how he makes her want to submit to him, let him have all the power, so she likes provoking him. And she knows he adores it, loves the subtle control she has over him

- They don’t have conflicts in their everyday life. Each knows how to avoid pissing one another off

- He cherishes her playful demeanor, her intellect. Combined with her cunningness, it allows her to rival him, in social sphere. The way she constructs her phrases, the way she speaks, mimics, moves, how bewitchingly it suits her feminine snaky features makes his blood boil and heart melt

- Both of them, actually, have rather specific kind of dry, dark humour. Kakuzu’s is very cynical, satirical, quite often menacing and subtly demeaning; Anko’s is very sarcastic and quite dirty, even gruesome and rather violent

- Sometimes they “fight” verbally as a form of a play. In some circumstances they may sound pretty vile, so some unobservant people mistake this for display of hate

- In general, Anko is the one to heat things up with her playful demeanor, which can include provocation and rivalry, and Kakuzu is the one to keep this energy in borders, accumulating it up to much more intense states

- They both put the comfort in the first place when it comes to household. Everything must be cozy, useful, silent and super clean

- Yet they are both very unpretentious and modest, really

- She absolutely adores when he is showing his serious, severe side, or powerful demeanor. She finds it incredibly suitable for him. She also likes how his real age is sliding out in this or that way. Like, even though he has rather young face (that of 37-40 y.o.), his eyes give away that he’ve seen oh so much more than it seems; the grumpy noises and grunts he makes, the lazy attitude in movements and the way how rapidly he finds a comfy pose once he has a chance to take a seat

- They are both rather patriotic, yet while in the most stories Anko’s feelings mostly lay towards the country she lives in, Kakuzu’s more often lay towards some places, so called small motherland.

- Kakuzu actually could be a source of deep, strong admiration and delight for her, despite all of his bullshit. The unbreakable will he has, mighty burning heart, all the wisdom, talents and mind. Being sent to fight god damn Hashirama, clearly a genius of his times, financial & management genius at the least. And, still, after all the hard times he’ve been through, he maintained the very strong sense of dignity and nobility, even though slightly twisted due to the profession and abnormal lifespan

- And the very same things can serve as the source for her chagrin: with all those traits, he could have been so much more rather than a criminal. With all the gifts he’ve got, he could have been of great use to society. He’s much easier about this, since his prospective is much wider and embraces decades (and in some universes even centuries) instead of months & years, and he knows that he’d be switching sides throughout his life, being on this and that side of the law, yet he still is a bit uncomfortable once it’s brought up

- They are deeply into science, which makes them atheists. He’s into medicine and human biology, she’s into chemistry and reptilian biology; both of them are nuts for physics, history and psychology

- They solve complicated physical and mathematical problems together time to time. She is the first one to have tea-breaks due to losing her temper over it, he tries to figure things out right until you can sense the smoke coming off his head

- Actually, they do have a stumbling stone aside from job & morality complications. And this is Anko’s attitude towards Orochimaru

What she does is basically ruins her life very-very slowly, maintaining the issues she has and planning to make him pay for all he’s done

Kakuzu knows exactly what is really going on with this attitude and why, but he can’t really do anything about it. Like, he knows he can’t make her change her mind or put something into her head

All he can do is really nothing but try to explain how those things are working, and even this option is basically a landmine field for him. At some level she does understand that he could probably be right, yet she just refuses to go back on her mind. And this is actually really dangerous, so at some moments they can fight quite badly about it

- He’s scared shitless to lose her, though; especially like that, even though he knows clearly that he will, anyway, sooner or later

- he knows that losing loved ones ends up with sheer disaster for him, yet he isn’t afraid to pay such a high price for those six, five or four decades of being with her. Because these decades are that of a paradise ones for him. Wife and family, as well as stable job, incomes and life conditions, are some sort of physical definitions of sustainability he craves. Especially family, yet it’s far ahead to plan

- The fact that he will have to bury her one day makes her rather depressed, as well as the knowledge that the only thing she can really do about it is to try to bring him as much happiness and comfort as possible before she dies

Im new to your page but I saw some of your responses to your asks and I was wondering how do I get to the point of not really having to affirm. To me it's exhausting but I continue to do it because coaches keep saying that it's how you manifest or whatever. I don't mind doing it every once in a while but all day everyday is too tiring. so it really intrigued me to see when you said you rarely affirm anymore you just know it done and relax. Whats that process like I'm sorry if you've answered a question like this before. its just that they way you described yours so far has me thinking it's the best process for so I was hoping you could go into more detail about it, especially because I have like a whole list of things that i'd like to manifesting and I was wondering with the way you manifest if I could manifest everything I want to show up exactly how I want, like i want to change my SPs age I heard that some else had done that, altogether.

Like I wanna manifest working in my dream career without having the "proper requirements" but I also want to move into this particular house that's in another state on the other side of the country. I wanna manifest physical changes and my SP and financial freedom and things like that.

Sorry if this was too long. But thank you for any advice you might give.

hi! honestly, you're at the point right now where you don't really have to affirm anymore. there's no preparation for it, you just stop. and it's hard at first i'm not going to lie. especially if you're like me and your brain just kinda autopilots and says them. (which obviously isn't bad, these aren't negatively effecting u at all, it's just annoying sometimes). ++ i was also taught that the more u say ur affirmations the faster your manifestation would come, which is just...not true. so i was scared at first that if i stopped affirming i wouldn’t manifest things. but this also wasn’t true. so the first few days may seem hard, but just keep reassuring yourself that “it is done” whenever you think about it, then shift your focus someplace else. force yourself to think about anything else. anything. just not your manifestation. and trust me, it gets easier. 

i love saying “it is done” bc it implies a lot of things to me. one, creation is done, there’s nothing i can say or do to “mess it up.” i don’t have to put in anymore effort. there’s nothing more i can do to bring it to me. it’s like when you plant a seed and water it. there’s nothing else you can do to make it grow faster. it’ll grow under the soil for a while before you actually see it above ground. this is the same as behind the scenes movement. the second you say it’s done, stuff will start shifting. even if its not what you expect to see right away. like your sp is gonna start thinking about you, or if someone is living in the house you want rn they’re going to start having thoughts about wanting to move out. the people who will hire you are going to fire an old employee, effectively making room for you. etc. 

so basically i guess what im trying to say is that you just have to take that leap and trust yourself. stop affirming 24/7. it gets easier, i promise. and if it helps, just reassure yourself with affirmations like “omg it’s working, this is working, im doing everything right” etc, if you happen to find yourself worrying that you’re not doing it right. you’re doing everything right all the time. you can’t do it wrong.

also just remind yourself that you have been manifesting your whole life. its so fun to look at something you got in the past and reverse engineer it and seeing how you got it. like i would look back at old relationships and i remember right before they made a move on me or “slid into my dms” whenever i thought of them i’d be like omfg they like me..they have the biggest crush on me. like not affirming. i’d just think this naturally and then go on with my day. this is literally how you manifest...the affirm all day everyday is such an over complication. 

sorry for the super long response lmfaoo but to sum everything up you’re ready rn. we don’t affirm “i am a master manifestor” to try to become one, it’s literally us just reassuring ourselves. reminding ourselves. you’ve been manifesting flawlessly and effortlessly your whole life. and you will continue to do so!!

Meanwhile Utsumi is out there like gushing about these two 24/7 bc they’re her faves and says stuff like “originally Tadashi was supposed to say “Woof” after “You’re gonna be my dog for the rest of their lives”, but it didn’t make to the final cut, I thought about his face expression a lot in that moment, but the only thing I was absolutely sure of is how utterly happy he was about what Adam said.” and explains for absolute morons that what Adam said about framing Tadashi was just a bullshit to test him lmao

I once again do not know why people don’t get that this ships thing is that they’re literally what another needs and despite the fact that they both have their own problems, they’re each other’s way out. Because Adam wants Tadashi to learn to stand up for himself, while Tadashi wants Adam to learn that love should bring happiness, not pain. If you don’t want complicated characters, once again, watch smth with a rating 5+ instead. Complicated and problematic characters are not always villains and some adult relationships are definitely not an abuse, if they’re canonically into power play. 

Also I don’t know how a person who so carelessly throws words like “rapey” can be considered “sounding authoritive”, but I highly recommend to try forming your own point of view, based on facts/observations and your own experience. Also in books for example there's always easier to get characters motives, bc they give you to say the whole picture, so depends on how many you’ve read you can learn to detect it without it “being explained to you” pretty easy. If you don’t have such skill or don’t want to develop it, you can wait for the creator’s commentary, you can usually get it to many animes/mangas these days, they will tell you what they meant by some scenes and about their thought process, while creating it, who, why and where. Of course not every creator has that much love and attention to their characters and story, there are some where the creators also know nothing about their character, besides what was shown, but Utsumi is not one of those, so you can always be ready, that if she picked a fave, she thought everything through from the very beginning.

Also this fandom (and pls normal SK8 fans, do not take offense in this, I mean I’m technically also in this fandom, although not really since I had to create just a bubble and don’t go anywhere else, since it’s that bad) is like 90% absolute the most painfully idiotic ppl I’ve ever seen, who can’t even read between the lines and say the dumbest stuff I’ve ever heard, that is so embarrasssing, that they make you embarrassed about even being part of this, and 50% of them are too young to even get stuff, that wasn’t meant for them to get, so just, for real, I’m just suggesting the same thing I did, for your own health, pick ppl for your tl, whose brains are intact and do not even go “out there”, like, you’re only gonna get mad. I mean, if ppl who aren’t even in the fandom get mad about stuff they write, you’re gonna be mad x2 and sadly you can’t do anything about this amount of stupidity, rarely stuff like this do happen to some fandoms. Yes, you can’t enjoy this one, sadly. I tried, but I just felt, like I’m getting more and more mad, until I just sat down and cleaned everything on my tl and was like “that’s it, I’m not in the sk8 fandom, I’m in my own fandom it’s called “his dog by day, his snake by night” lmao

And yes, it did in fact happen after I found out that the girl behind that “concerning adam” absolutely moronically formulated shit that was part of the zine was 23 years old. I think my eyes popped out like in a cartoon, bc everyone who was involved in this drama, wrote stuff like “can i make fun of them or are they 14″, thinking they’re just well, you know, young, but then were shocked too xD. I just wish this person/ppl just wrote “we excluded Adam bc we’re too dumb to get his character we hate him”, at least I’d respect you for your honesty in this case. But no, you had to dig your own grave and become the new official representative of “SK8 fandom is the dumbest”. Congrats really.

I do not know, if ppl lie about their age or not when it comes to those. If not and they’re really adults who think so, it’s fascinating really. Fascinating how this fandom got all the idiots in once. I mean, being a stupid fandom of teens is one thing, being a stupid fandom in general is just sad.

Am I sad that so little ppl got the actual plot and the message creators tried to send? Yes, absolutely. Not the first time tho it happens, with Utsumi’s faves especially, but also in general these days. It is very sad, I agree, but also, I just really started to feel bad, bc I saw some comments and felt like that meme guy, you know: “what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.” lol

So just find someone who posts the good stuff and doesn’t get involved, listen to VAs, read creator’s interviews and live happily ever after, bc they adore both Adam and Tadaai. They literally told in the last interview what I was telling under my YT vid. This is just also hilarious to me, bc to be honest Tadaai situation wasn’t even that hard to analyse in the first place, even without the creators commentaries. Like we’re not on a Cannes Film Festival here.

And once again you can like or dislike Adam, it’s your choice, ppl have different tastes, but writing the most utterly idiotic things about his character that make no sense whatsoever, considering the canon story, is just plain moronic. Just say that you don’t like him, and pls, don’t embarrass yourself.

Kinda late to the party, but besides the gc and the punishment verse, I’ll always associate you with becoming johnny’s boy, bc it reminds me of my teen years before I found out kink was a thing and used to annoy some of my friends until they would lose their patience and forcefully hold my wrists and bite my arm. Not my proudest moment, but it was nice to read something so similar to my own experience.

NONNIE LET ME TELL YOU A STORY ABOUT TEENAGED TILLY (ages 15-18ish)

So I had this friend at school. I'm not going to tell you their real name, but they had two nicknames, one of them is unimportant. The other one was "Sir". No, we didn't think this was weird. Occasionally they would put on the 'Sir' persona, and boss us all around and leer at us as a creepy old man. No, again, we didn't think it was weird. I based a character around that in the fics I used to write for my friends back in school (aahhhhh the good old days when I used to produce a 2000 word chapter for them to read every week)

Nobody understood why the two of us considered each other friends, because everyone thought we hated each other. WE weren't even sure why the two of us considered each other friends because I would annoy the HELL out of her all the damn time, and she would hit me round the head with her schoolbooks, push me off the chairs in the comment room. She would constantly make me sit on the floor and shove me off my seat. There were other seats, I would sit on the floor because obviously, if she'd shoved me off my seat that was where I was meant to be... right? She would taunt me and threaten me, and I would play up to it and try and get her to snap and actually hit me (which very rarely happened and when it did it was always gently, sad times ;) )

BUT when we were really fucking struggling with mental health stuff, it was each other we went to. We got each other in a way we knew that the other friends in our group didn't. And there was a trust there that was never spoken about, but we fucking did trust each other with the big shit.

In retrospect, this was ABSOLUTELY my first D/s 'relationship' although it was entirely platonic. Looking back on it now, I KNOW it was tapping into my sub side, without even knowing about it. I knew NOTHING about the kink community at that age, I hadn't even read kink FIC at that age. (I'd read some other fucked up stuff, but not kink stuff weirdly).

I don't KNOW if she is in the kink scene today. I occasionally instagram stalk her though. (I lost contact with many of my school friends due to a messy breakup), I would love to know though :D

There is another LOVELY bb Dom/sub Jonny/peeks fic called 'a complicated kindness' which is my favourite fic of ALL TIME and honestly, speaks to my kink side more than anything I've ever read. I whole heartedly recommend people go read that one. I'm gonna go re-read it now.

Part 3 of my take on a genshin impact circus AU: Bennett, Fischl, and Razor as a beast-taming trio. Backstory under the cut.

Benny:

Bennett was adopted into a research team of zoologists (what in canon would be the adventurer’s guild). The ones that go out into the world and get their hands dirty in studying animals. He loved interacting with the animals, and though research was interesting, he always spent more time with the animal caretakers and vets than with the researchers so he’s extremely acquainted with their habits, how to feed them, when to keep them in captivity versus the wild, and how to regulate their environment properly when in captivity. He has this knack for interacting with them, even the big ones.

As for how he got into the circus: Well first off he got wind of how poorly these animals are treated in some circuses and got into the circuses for the caretaking purposes. He would hop from circus to circus to take care of the animals and show the performers how to Not Harm Them (like tigers jumping through hoops on fire??? Nuh-uh. Whips, tight collars, and muzzles? We don’t do that here). He certifies himself as a vet after a while of this.

More time passes and he realizes this is a bigger problem than can be solved by himself. He’s been kicked out of a few places and for a while had terrible luck finding work because some of his previous employers didn’t want to spend the extra resources on animal care (lacking funds and lacking planning for it) and spread word of a legal liability of a vet.

Aether and Lumine catch word of this and track him down to a little animal clinic where he works as an intern. They offer him a spot in their circus bc they’ve been wanting to introduce animals into the mix but want to plan correctly (like how many animals they can support properly). Long story short, Bennett gets into the circus and works with Yanfei to actually become a legal liability to the circuses not treating animals correctly, and he himself will take as many of those animals as he can into his corner of the circus and send the rest to his dads (since circus animals tend to be rare breeds and his dads have a branch of research on captive animals). And finally he can take care of his animals and show the world that you don’t have to harm animals for a good show. Mostly big ones like elephants, big cats, and camels.

He’ll do shows more like synchronizing movements between the animals and tricks like they do with marine animals. They do have cages for transport but they’re spacious and they take frequent breaks for physical activity. Benny will only take the animals that have been domesticated their whole lives and will send the ones fit to live in the wild to his dads to set free.

Fischl:

Fischl was born into the circus life and was that kid who would stop people from killing bugs, take them in a glass container, and set them outside. She regularly patches up the birds with broken wings she finds outside.

Def spent more time outside hanging with the birds than with the people in the circus, since birds aren’t technically a circus animal. Oz is an old old vulture (or falcon, I haven’t decided yet. If anyone can pinpoint his species please let me know) that has taken a liking to Fischl and so no matter where her circus goes, she sees Oz there to hang and bring her injured birds.

She once asked if birds could be circus animals and was told that they tried but it didn’t work out. She gets into reading the obscure materials on birds as circus animals and deduces that they just weren’t taking care of them right. She brings up this idea to the circus manager and essentially gets the door slammed in her face. The last time she asks about it, it’s to her parents and is told to find something realistic to do in the circus and forget about the birds.

From then she sees all the other kids her age in the circus training to be in the show in some way or another and hears what they say about her “head in the clouds”. So she starts training with different branches of the circus (gymnastics-based, death-defying stunts, fire, etc.) and she... genuinely considers leaving to pursue another profession.

Then as her circus is about to get on the road, she catches wind of a circus performing in the town they’re just about to leave. One that uses animals, and since her circus never used animals due to lacking funding, she goes for a night out of curiosity and on the off-chance that they use birds. She noticed that this wasn’t anything like she’d heard about or read about circus animals, so she sends them a letter addressed to the person running the animal part of the show asking about birds in the circus.

Benny’s response boils down to “well it’d be a little complicated but what’d you have in mind?” so they start exchanging letters and the next time the two circuses are near each other, she goes on over and brings all her letters after a show and sees how gentle Bennett is with the animals. They get to talking and Benny takes her to meet the animals, telling her about how he does things while she tells him about how she’d go about introducing birds to a circus.

Aether and Lumine hear about this and before she knows it, Fischl’s being told to get her birds ready, she has an audition in a month (spoiler alert: she passes). Her act is made up of all kinds of birds. Very few of them are housed on the circus for very long since she’s never liked the idea of birds in cages. The birds she uses are all the injured ones in the process of rehabilitation brought to her by Oz. She also keeps the ones that won’t fly again or never learned to find food despite her and Oz doing their best to socialize them. Those that don’t perform are excellent at taking care of the newbies and overall helping Fischl out. 

At any given point she’ll be seen with about 3-5 birds of different sizes on her and she’ll always smell a bit like worms and seeds of various kinds. She expands on her first-aid abilities from watching Bennett, and in turn offers knowledge on birds and how to deal with smaller animals with different bone structures, metabolisms, and cardiovascular systems.

Razor:

Razor’s story is a lot simpler. Backstory is essentially the same as in canon, except he doesn’t meet Lisa right away, and spends a little more time with Varka learning to read and write at the most basic level and fight hand-to-hand. Instead of an abyss mage attacking them, it’s a group of hunters. During this fight, a lot of the wolves are gravely injured but he takes one of them and runs into town looking for help.

After a show, Bennett and Fischl are on their way to see Bennett’s dads to take some birds that can’t handle the circus life but also aren’t fit to be free. They happen to be in the town where Bennett trained to be a vet and they stop by the clinic to say hello. Inside they see a boy dressed in rags and covered in dirt cradling an unconscious wolf pup, trying to get the attention of one of the clerks. One of the clerks tries to help him but the communication barrier is not helping them and the boy seems distressed on top of that, pointing and growling with the word “help” thrown in here and there, so Bennett steps in bc he knows some of these people in the clinic.

Bennett comes in and he and Fischl follow him out to where the rest of the pack is. Fischl brings her birds bc they’re her babies in case anyone was wondering. They perform first aid the best they can given the conditions, and manage to save a good chunk of the wolves, but a good chunk of them still die.

The pack splits up into two. On the one hand, the older wolves take whoever’s still alive and resume their activities in the forest. On the other, Razor has this opportunity to go and find out whether he’s a human or a wolf, and the little wolf pup he brought to the clinic goes with him because she’s too injured to go with the others. Same for a few other wolves.

So they go and the only place they have to stay is the circus bc Bennett and Fischl want to monitor the wolves a little more, so they spend the night. Next morning, Razor gives Fischl and Bennett a basket of meat, berries, and seeds to feed their respective animals and they realize Razor has some valuable skills, so he ends up staying upon receiving the OK from Lumine and Aether and telling Lisa and Ningguang for administrative purposes.

Because wolves inherently do not do well with loud noises and circus settings, Razor is very off-put by the idea of performance. Not to mention that he himself probs wouldn’t feel comfortable in the performance setting, so he sticks to the background (even learning the basics of tech) and gets really good at gathering resources from food for the animals to helping Oz bring back injured birds and track other injured animals. He and Oz interact a lot, which helps his friendship with Fischl as he was initially closer to Bennett.

His relationship with Lisa after a while can be summarized as “focus up you little monsters. not you Razor. You’re an angel and we’re thrilled you’re here”

CRACKFIC ENDING, you’ve been warned. Probably poorly written as well, apologies. It’s been a really hot minute. This turned out less funny than I intended it to be, my bad! I was having trouble thinking up silly scenarios, urgh.

All characters including the reader are aged 18+ for obvious reasons.

You weren’t even sure how it first started or why. It’s not like you weren’t happy with your boyfriend or your relationship; you went on plenty of dates, you cared deeply for one another, and fights were rare between the two of you. Izuku always remembered your birthday and anniversaries. He constantly showered you in gifts and listened to you vent on stressful days. You always did the same for him. You and Midoriya had always been two peas in a pod, and that’s the way it had always been. Two thoughts on the same wavelength.

That is, until Tanjiro Kamado drove a wedge between you and the supposed love of your life.

You couldn’t put your finger on it. From the moment you happened to bump into him, you were smitten with each other. Somehow, the giant stain on his shirt from where you spilled your drink all over him just made him even more attractive, as did the way he apologized like it was his fault your drink tumbled out of your hand. As if. Maybe it was the way his hair fell at the side of his face, or his glittering ruby eyes, but you just couldn’t get enough. So of course when he offered to buy you another drink, you found yourself saying yes even though you knew in the back of your mind that this was the start of something you weren’t sure you would be able to get out of.

Things only got more complicated from there. You exchanged phone numbers with each other after your little coffee date so that you could keep in touch- and you did. Often. Way more often than you would have liked to admit. Often enough for Izuku to notice how much time you were spending with your new “friend” and how much time he was missing out on with you. He didn’t miss the way your eyes lit up when you heard the one specific text tone you’d set for the other boy followed by your asking him if you could go out for the night. And he sure as hell didn’t miss the fact that you always put a little extra effort into your appearance before you left to go visit with him. But he held off from his worries, trusted you, and put his faith into your relationship. He knew you would never do anything to betray his trust...right?

While Izuku was at home trying to settle his anxious thoughts about your relationship, you were cuddling up to Tanjiro in his bed, eagerly eating up any and all praise and attention he gave you. You were enamored with him.

Suddenly his eyes lit up. “Hey, have I ever shown you my katana?” he asked.

“You have a fucking katana?”

“Yeah. Do you want to see it?”

“I’m home...” you mumbled out, unsure of the response you would get. You could already hear Izuku’s footsteps heavy on the carpet of your floors by the time your front door was shut.

“Y/N? I called you like twenty times! I had no idea you were going to be out all night-” Izuku stopped dead in his tracks, his nose wrinkling and face scrunching up in disgust. “Is that your perfume? It’s so strong...why-?”

“I just- uh, didn’t have any deodorant, and I didn’t want to smell, so I doused myself in perfume, and...” 

That was a lie. You just didn’t want Izuku to smell Tanjiro on you.

“Is that...?” He quirked a brow and stared at you intensely, giving you a good look over and inhaling another breath of your perfume. “That smells like...cologne. Cologne that doesn’t belong to me.”

His suspicions hung in the air for a moment before the both of you just stared each other in the eyes, a silent understanding forming. After all...you’d always been able to tell what the other was thinking, and this time was no different. He knew.

“Izuku-”

“I left you so many text messages and you just ignored them. Is it because you were sleeping with him?”

“Izu.”

“Don’t call me that. Did you cheat on me? Y/N? Really?” 

The hurt in his voice was evident. He was trembling, eyes watering and breath hitching as you tried to explain yourself.

“I...” You hesitated a bit before deciding to just come clean. “Yeah. I cheated on you with Tanjiro.”

More silence.

“Why? Was it something I did? Something I said? Did I hurt you in any way? Was I not enough for you?” 

He spat out questions faster than you could answer them, and you wracked your brain for the honest reason you’d decided to sleep with Tanjiro last night. It wasn’t that Izuku wasn’t good enough for you. He was a great partner, and you’d definitely taken advantage of that. You shared the same interests, he was practically your best friend, and you couldn’t have asked for a more loving partner. But...there was one thing above all all else that had contributed to your decision to cheat last night, and you knew exactly what it was now.

“No, it wasn’t any of that.”

“Then what!?” he prodded.

“He...”

“He what, Y/N?”

“He had a katana.”

Izuku stared at you as if you’d grown two heads. You couldn’t believe yourself either, to be fair...but it was the truth.

“A sword,” he reiterated. “A sword. Unbelievable. You slept with him because he had a fucking sword!?”

"He has a technique! It even has a name, I think it was water something or another? I don't know, he made it look hot!"

"Y/N!"

"I'm so sorry!"
