Supergirl Radio is discussing some of the recent episodes of My Adventures with Superman, and they're kind of musing about the implications of Brainiac being able to wipe/alter Kara's memories.

Which means I am 100% besotted with the idea of this Kara meeting a version of Lena. Not sure which version, but one who'd be able to commiserate with the manipulation and unraveling of their familial reality and having to recondition themselves to the real world, in all its painful glory.

So clearly a world where Lena is a Luthor. Lex is pretty young in My Adventures with Superman, which would imply that Lena would be younger, but I want her to be of an age with Kara, so maybe Lena and Lex are twins in this universe? Equally brilliant but polar opposite personalities.

Lex wants more and more of the spotlight, which ultimately makes him unreliable, to the point that Lena kind of becomes the dependable one by default? Who seemingly gets all of their father's approval, which pisses Lex off to no end, but she's still left walking a razor's edge?

All Lena wants is to do good and belong. Which, funnily, is what Kara aches for too. Maybe they meet in the park one day, choosing the same bench to be miserable and dour on as they watch the rest of the world be happy and playful.

Maybe Kara asks Lena a question about the meaning of life on Earth, which startles Lena but it shakes them both out of their misery long enough to notice-- oh no, she's hot.

And then they become friends, and Kara introduces Lena to Clark, who's thrilled Kara has found a new friend on Earth, but no one knows she's Lex's sister. When she's eventually outed (how, idk), they're automatically suspicious, despite the fact that Lena has given no indication she shares her brother's beliefs.

It breaks her heart, and Kara can't stand to see her sad, so she seeks Lena out so Lena can explain how all her life she's been compared to and associated with Lex. As though the minute she refuses to be part of the Lena and Lex duo, she just ceases to exist. How maybe early on she adored her brother and took his word as gospel, until she started to think for herself-- and completely lost her brother as a result.

And in losing her brother she lost herself, and ever since she's been trying to put herself back together, into a complete person who can exist without Lex. But for all her hard work, the moment her identity as his twin is revealed it all unravels again. But she doesn't blame them, not really. She'd probably think the same, in their shoes--

Until Kara wraps her up in a big hug and simply clings to her, until a surprised Lena finally relaxes into the embrace and returns it. Kara trusts her, no matter what Clark or his friends say. For the first time, she has the choice to believe in who and what she wants.

She chooses Lena.

Pre-Season 6 Thoughts - In Conclusion, Fuck the CW

okay yet another supergirl post bc I want to say some things before s6 starts airing

I started watching this show in middle school. I was just starting to become confident about the fact that I liked girls and as a girl I was really excited to watch a show about a female superhero whose most important relationship was with her sister. I thought Cat was hilarious, and I about lost my mind of happiness when Alex came out.

Season two rolled around and I absolutely fell in love with Lena. Again, I was really excited at the prospect of this super complex, female character. Pretty soon I hopped onto the supercorp train and never looked back.

Genuinely, I really, really loved this show. I loved Maggie and Sam and Ruby and Lucy Lane and Cat Grant, I adored Winn, thought J'honn was an absolute bop of a character. I thought there were really interesting and intriguing storylines, like Lena's short and emotional stint experimenting with humans. In hindsight, I even think that the idea of Mon-El could have been really compelling, even if it wasn't executed extremely well.

All this to say, I have had a lot of love for Supergirl. It's sentimentally valuable to me, and I feel so nostalgic when interacting with supergirl art on Tumblr or reading supergirl fanfiction or just watching it in general.

it's also incredibly, fundamentally, flawed.

please note that I don't blame actors for anything at all. there's obviously things that have happened behind the scenes, but I want to talk specifically about the show runners/writers/directors.

as a middle schooler, when I was 12, 13, even 14, I watched supergirl for the pretty people and focus on women and the aliens and (to middle school me) compelling plot lines.

however, this show has shown time and time again that they are incapable of focusing on platonic relationships between characters for extended periods of time. we got a few episodes of kara and nia working together and then an entire subplot focused on nia and brainy's relationship. as the show continued into its third and fourth and fifth season, danvers sisters moments became few and far between, which was especially distressing considering the show was originally built upon the strength of Kara and Alex's relationship.

James? became primarily a love interest for whoever the nearest woman was. and also a disastrous vigilante. sort of.

They brought Lex Luthor back, in a show that was supposed to be focused on the women of the superhero world, especially Lena, Lex's sister. For her to be pushed out of the Luthor spotlight in supergirl of all shows is discouraging, and it only builds upon the shitty rep the CW has given us in one of their only shows with a female lead.

Kara, of course, was inconsistently written, to the point where it's transparently obvious that the writers have her make decisions that are the most compelling for the sake of the plot rather than decisions that were the most in character for her to make.

Kara and Lena were established to be best friends. then, they were constantly pitted against each other, again, mostly for the sake of plot. supercorp aside, we can still talk about how Kara never told Lena about her identity until the fifth season, about how despite being "best friends" their relationship was hardly focused on. we instead saw the James and lena elements or lena and her science plot lines, but the gals themselves? hardly any scenes. this specific argument is strictly from a platonic kara/lena point of view, although I do ship them so I admit I'm biased.

Supercorp as an actual romantic ship is something I definitely have Opinions about, but I think that's for a separate post. HOWEVER, I do want to address the queerbaiting we've seen for years.

While I don't want to go too in depth (since this really is mostly for the supercorp post I'm also drafting 💀) but complicated story short, the very obvious queerbaiting regarding supercorp, as well as blatant encouragement of fans shipping the two together - liking comments regarding supercorp on their instagram, for example - is not only disrespectful and, to be frank, manipulative of their fanbase, but it also borders on (in my humble, seventeen-year-old opinion) unprofessionalism.

the supergirl social media accounts encourage behavior from their fans that they have proved time and time again they have no intention of actually rewarding in the show. maybe if this was the first or second year of supergirl airing, this wouldn't be a huge deal, but at this point, they know exactly what they're doing, and it genuinely makes me so angry.

I don't have high hopes for this last season. I'm looking forward to the more fan service-y episodes. Really, I'm only going to be watching it for the nostalgia factor, desire to see it through and get closure, and, if I'm being honest, clown-like hope that maybe, just maybe, they'll be able to fix the show that has grown more and more unstable over the past five years.

TL;DR: I loved supergirl as a kid, it holds a special place in my heart, but over the past few years, the writing and management of the show has made it one of the biggest disappointments I've witnessed amongst all the media I've been able to consume in live time (as opposed to things like ouat, which I only got into just as it was ending). While I'm going to watch the sixth season out of fragile hope and the desire for something akin to closure, it is going to take A LOT for supergirl to redeem itself.

So I'm watching Supergirl 6x18 and I'll be writing the reactions I'm having.

Umm nothing really good or bad yet. Although William was right to get mad at Andrea, I don't blame him this time.

Okay Nyxly sexy voice, of course I would believe her as well... Sooo this is the way William will die:s

Nooo their Bachelorette party being ruined, damn these people can't be happy for a second.

Oh no, I have to say it kind of made me sad watching William die, I mean, I've never liked his character and many times he was just there doing nothing but hinder, and yes he should've called a superfriend now they are also his friends instead of recording a video, but killing him makes no sense, and he was kind of tender this episode with Esme (I appreciate it), and it's gonna be another trauma for them, specially my girl Kara who always blames herself for the bad things that happens in that city or the world.

Oh God, what was this episode?! This season?! I can't take this anymore, I've never been happier this show is ending as much as I am rn.

I'm gonna be really objective here. I really hope they find a way to make Brainy stay in this time, I would love if Kara finds her perfect partner and no, I don't think that should be Mon bc I don't think they could ever have a healthy relationship, I know Mon has wroth (if Crisis didn't change that bc we really don't know yet), however he did it in the future and that's his place, he has a mission there as well as Kara has its own in the present, and her family that means everything to her, and tbh I don't think they are that compatible, it wouldn't make any sense now after everything Kara's been through and her personal growth, but do I think the writers would care about it? NO, at this point I feel they are capable of doing anything, (not in the good way).

Talking about Supercorp, I think any possibility is already dead. Let's be honest, for much that I want it to happen, the writers/show runners have shown 0 interest in it, so I have no faith (hope they prove me wrong but I don't think so).

Andrea Rojas aka Acrata aka a waste of a powerful character. I know it's not a big dc character but that doesn't mean she isn't powerful.

And Dansen, probably the only good thing lately. I hope there won't be any trouble or interruptions during their wedding, that'd be incredibly unfair.

After all, I really don't wanna to watch the finale, I'll wait to see ppl reactions and look for Dansen wedding, Idk, I guess I will see how I feel next week but ugh. I wouldn't be surprised if the make Lena and James a thing again bc as I said, I expect nothing good for this finale.

Okay, so hear me out. One of my dream ideal au fic would be a Supercorp Pretty Woman au. Sounds great, right!? But what iffff we took it one step further and combined it with a lap dance au. Instead of being a sex worker, Kara’s a dancer at an elite private club for the filthy rich folks...like Lex Luthor, obviously.

Lena’s forced to meet her brother there. (Michael Rosenbaums Lex bc he just did it so damn well!) She’s super annoyed with him. Not amused about the situation at all. He keeps insisting she lightens up but also notices she can’t manage to stop glancing at a specific woman. (Kara) So of course, Lex being Lex, sends one of his men off with some information and eventually Lena’s caught off guard when the woman approaches her and takes her by the hand and leads her to a private booth. (The lap dance booth.) Awkwardness ensues. Lena keeps insisting that this was her brothers doing and she just needs to leave and of course Kara’s like ‘no talking, just relax.’ Eventually Lena gets so ‘uncomfortable’ (and by uncomfortable, I mean uncomfortably turned on) she’s like peace out. Gotta go. And just runs off.

She has choice words with her brother before stealing his keys and leaving. (But she doesn’t take the car. She walks because she’s so flustered she just forgets she has her own driver and her brothers keys). Cut to her walking alone in a questionable neighborhood when a rather beat up vehicle pulls up and the driver throws out a cheesy line about her needing a lift. (Spoiler alert, its Kara) Editing to add that Lena *doesn’t* get in the vehicle.

At first I was down with William bcs of the entitlement of Supercorps, but... I just can't stand him. (not Staz of course) The show has blown up literally every possible ship that its honestly impossible to course correct now. They dumped James unceremoniously, made Mon-el so insufferable they had to send him back to future, screwed up her relationship with Lena, and inexplicably put Brainy, her comic canon love interest with Nia. it's unfair, but her staying single is the only real option left

Allow me to be overly honest with you for a moment. This isn’t directed at you so much as the fandom in general.

I want Kara to have fun. I want her to live an actual life. I want her to be with someone who actually cares about her. I want Kara to be an actual character outside of Supergirl.

But I also want Kara to get laid.

I’m sorry, I know some people aren’t going to like me saying that, but it’s been YEARS since her relationship with Mon-El ended, and she’s gone through sooooo much shit since then. She deserves to go out and have a great time with a guy and be all excited and happy and have deeply satisfying sex.

If anyone deserves to have her physical needs met, it’s Kara freaking Danvers.

And what’s with all the William hate? Because he was mean to her a little bit at the beginning of the season? Boo-freaking-hoo! Lena literally manipulated Kara into committing crimes, taking advantage of her desire to reconnect in order to push forward her plans to mind control the entire human race, and then encased her with kryptonite in order to steal from the Fortress and keep her out of the way while she enacted her evil plan. And those people excused her actions every chance they got.

William says some unkind things in order to keep her at a distance because what he does has caused him to lose people closest to him is somehow worse than Lena torturing Kara with kryptonite? In what reasonable universe does that make sense?

So I want Kara to do something for herself. I want her to focus on what she wants out of life. Will that result in a long-lasting relationship with William? Who knows! I’m not thinking that far ahead because what’s the point? It either does or it doesn’t, I’m thinking about the right here and now.

At this point, if Kara has a good time and decides to climb William like a tree, then I will encourage her to do that. Although he’s only like four inches taller than her. Whatever my point is the same.

With William, my focus is on Kara having a good time and finding a life outside of Supergirl that isn’t just her job, and if he gives her that then I’m cool with their relationship.

And if anyone has a problem with how I worded Kara getting a sex-life, I’ve seen too much of your fanfiction for you to have ANY right to judge me. Some of the things you people write about Supercorp or Karamel could make the lewdest person on the planet blush, so you got no ground to stand on in that regard.

Seriously though, don’t stop writing.

Now, moving onto calling Kara/Supergirl a coward. To call someone a coward, for keeping THEIR OWN secret, is also plain stupid. Especially, if said secret is there not only to protect themselves, but other around them. I’m pretty sure I’m not only one that saw Colonel Hayley threaten Kara that. To hear her basically scream at Kara that she will out her and put her family and friends in danger just to keep her under her control. How can anyone say Kara is being a coward for that? 7/13

Now, others can tell me that, if Lena knows, then she can warn Supergirl of things and also that Supergirl can easily protect her and save her, but why risk it? Lena is simply a human being. Yes, she has her tech, and yes, there’s Alex, but Alex has an actual legit reason to know. Also, Alex has actual experience of fighting hand to hand with aliens, while Lena only fought humans. Plus, alien tech is like light years ahead of human tech, and Lena can’t always rely on that to protect her. 8/13 I know not every Supergirl fan watches The Flash, but those who do, why aren’t they saying that Barry should say who he really is? Double standards much? He has powers, he can protect his friends and family. I’m not seeing anyone saying to tell his secret to the entire world. So, you see how ridiculous is it to yell at Kara for doing the exact same thing? So yeah, I’m done with Lena stans, calling Kara all those things, and excusing Lena for treating her like shit. I’m also done with them 9/13 blatantly saying that people like me are simply “anti-supercorp” and homophobic, cause we call Lena out. I’m queer af (bi, pan, whatever idc), and been sure of that since I was 7. I love the shit out of women. I’m so fucking gay for women, that astronauts can see it in space from their ship. I do ship supercorp. I can see that they can be and can possibly have the potential to be, more than friends. I’m just willing to see past Lena’s horrible behavior towards Kara. supercorp "i can’t sleep”

Once again, Lena thinks with an internal sigh, her personal office is a smoking ruin. And the caped crusader for truth and justice and don’t trust Luthors is standing in the center of the crater, having the audacity to look sheepish. “Lena–” she starts, and Lena cuts her a look sharper than kryptonite.

“I trust you’ll see yourself out,” Lena says, gathering up her shoulderbag like she isn’t barefoot and the fringe of her skirt isn’t scorched, weaving around the DEO agents dragging the bad guy of the week away in glowing cuffs.

Supergirl catches her by the elevator, electing to go straight through the wall like Wile E. Coyote instead of making her way through the crowd as Lena had. Lena adds it to the mental tally of restoration costs. “You shouldn’t be,” Supergirl starts, and the ding of the elevator interrupts her. At least that’s still working. “Alone?” Her voice half-rises, awkward, she shifts on her feet.

There are at least fifteen highly trained agents waiting in the lobby for her, one of whom will drive her to the finest home security old money can buy, in a bulletproof SUV. “I’ll survive,” is what she chooses to disclose, stepping into the elevator and pressing the close door button. She meets Supergirl’s eyes, the streak of alien blood in her dark honey curl, the smudge of soot above one grey-blue eye. “It’s what Luthors do best.”

Lena lasts nearly three hours at her house, long enough to take a shower and change her clothes, text James and grab something to eat. Long enough to do all those things, but all she manages is to leave her phone lying on the kitchen counter and sit on her balcony; drink two glasses worth of wine straight from the bottle, watching the clouds roll across the moon and the stars twinkle dully in the sky, never completely dark with all the lights of National City blazing underneath it.

“I’d pour you a glass,” she says, to the seemingly empty air, “but I’m not convinced you could appreciate it.”

She hears the flutter of a cape against stone, and sees a blur of red and blue out of the corner of eye. “And you don’t seem to have any glasses.”

“No need,” Lena says, “if you’re drinking alone. Was there something you needed?”

Supergirl says nothing.

“I trust you’ve verified there’s no present threat here.”

“Yes,” Supergirl says.

Lena takes another slow draw from the wine bottle. “Then what else is there to say.”

She hears Supergirl exhale, and the soft scrape of her boot. She turns her head to look and there’s no one there.

The she picks up her smartphone and arranges for a car.

She raps on Kara’s door at nearly three in the morning. There’s a thump from within, a muttered grunt, and then the door opens. “I’m sorry to wake you,” Lena starts, and then stops short. Kara is in sweats and a worn t-shirt, but her hair is wet, pulled back into a messy ponytail, there’s smudges of makeup still around her eyes. “Or… not.”

“I was… working.” Kara coughs slightly, then smiles. “Everything okay? It’s late. Or early, depending on who you ask.”

“There was an incident,” Lena says. “I’m sure you’ll hear about it tomorrow.”

Kara opens the door wider. “What happened?” she asks, ushering Lena inside. “Are you okay? Do you want to shower?”

“I can’t sleep,” Lena admits, sidestepping the questions. “I know it’s quite a big ask, but–”

“You can sleep here,” Kara says immediately, before Lena can even ask. She gently nudges Lena across the room, and before Lena can formulate another sentence she finds herself sitting on the couch while Kara deposits a small bundle of clothing in her lap. “Here, change while I whip something up in the kitchen.”

“I’m not hungry,” Lena says automatically, her fingers clenched too tight in the fabric.

Kara is already in the kitchen; Lena can hear cupboards opening and closing, the clink of pots and pans as she rummages, the clatter of silverware. The sounds are homey, warm. Some of the tension bleeds out of Lena’s shoulders and she crosses to the bathroom.

She changes, leaving her expensive blouse and skirt crumpled to ruin on the tile, splashing water on her face and using one of the hairbands on the counter to pile her hair into a bun. She looks at herself in the mirror. Kara’s sweats are too long on her and she pulls the string as tight as she can, knotting it before she cuffs the legs, rolls the waistband. The t-shirt hangs off one shoulder, too broad for her, but it’s soft and it smells like Kara, whatever soft spring floral thing she uses for laundry detergent. She shivers, goosebumps rising on her skin, and finds a National City University sweatshirt hanging on the back of the door–it smells even softer, soap detergent and the lingering fade of a gentle perfume. She indulges, dipping her nose under the collar before taking a fortifying breath and emerging from the bathroom.

Kara is still in the kitchen, and Lena shuffles in, feeling inexplicably dwarfed by Kara’s clothes–she’s not that much bigger than Lena. Kara looks up and there’s a flash of something on her face, a freezing followed by an emotion Lena can’t categorize. Then she smiles. “Not food,” she promises, turning back to the stove and stirring something. “Hot chocolate. Cure for all that ails you.”

“Oh?” Lena steps up to peer into the simmering pot. “I don’t think I’ve ever had it homemade.” Or possibly at all, but she declines to state that particular fact.

“It’s my mother’s recipe,” Kara says. “Eliza, I mean. She used to make it for me when I–had a bad day.”

It’s too personal, too sharp. Lena turns away to open cupboards, finding the mugs quickly. She sets them on the counter at Kara’s elbow. “Anything else I can do to help?”

“There’s whipped cream in the fridge,” Kara says, starting to pour. “The door.”

They sit on the couch and sip, the mugs warm in their hands. Lena exhales at the first taste of it, almost too rich and too sweet on her tongue, but it warms her all the way down, from her mouth to her belly, and she slumps into the couch cushions, foregoing perfect posture. “A bad day,” she says quietly.

Kara looks out the window, where the sun has just started to rise, the sky lightening from black to grey. “A new one now, though.”

Lena feels herself go listless, slumped, her eyelids unbearably heavy.I have to go back to work soon, is what she means to say, but Kara’s fingers against hers makes the words fade into smoke on her tongue. Kara eases the mug away, setting it down gently on the coffee table with a clink. “Thank you,” Lena mumbles, forcing it out, her head tipping back.

A blanket settles over her, warm hands tuck it around her body. “Of course,” is the last thing she hears Kara say before she drifts off to sleep. “You’re my friend.”

The thing about so many people (usually k*ramels) calling the supercorp fandom toxic and ugly is that thesw same people would never dare call the Star Wars fandom toxic, despite the fact that sw fans have harassed multiple actors off of social media, no no of course Star Wars fans are just a little too 'enthusiastic'.. and I love Star Wars and have nothing against it but its a clear metaphor to the double standards society holds lesbians to like we truly can never be on the same level as straights or gay men due to both lesbophobia and misogyny dictating that we must always be better and work harder just to be seen. everyone THINKS that Cat’s starter is a Ninetails, except plot twist her family has raised Onixes for years and Cat was a journalist--shes’ seen some shit and people think that they just gotta deal with the Ninetails--that is, until they battle Cat and find out their water type pokemon is now useless because it is now a Steelix basically the outcome is “get rekt” (of course, Carter has his own baby Vulpix who is v cuddly and its favorite spot is hanging out in Carter’s backpack. Cat had to order a special fireproof one after the first time Vulpix burned his homework--it fits better for him than just what’s tradition

alex who’s family raises ralts–of course she’d have a gallade. fighting and psychic type–when kara came to live with them it was a simple kirlia but after Alex became the Most Fight Me they both decided a gallade would be a better path–they’d need it.

lena would have one of the beldum evolutions, raised by the luthors for generations it’s tradition to have one. they’re super strong, smart, and exceedingly rare–what else would a luthor have as a starter? (and so Lex would also have a beldum as a starter. Lillian started with an abra and now has a very dangerous megavolved Alakazam. It’s always 4 steps ahead, just like Lillian)

superman has a charizard and its megavolved clark’s normal charizard isnt so it’s easier for him to hide

predictably, J’onn has a Ditto. he found the little guy in his travels, and as a shapeshifter it’s so much easier to also have someone who can change into other’s pokemon

James maybe with a Milotic–I can see him as a kid finding this butt ugly feebas that no one wants and other kids even make fun of him for but he Loves it his dad was fishing the day before he was deployed and gave it to him and James cares so much for it and then it turns into a beautiful Milotic

Maggie with a Houndoom–of course she would. Most police have Arcanines and growlithes but Maggie would totally get the fire/dark type because she Hates stereo types and maybe no one wanted the houndour bc they were scared and a bit prejudiced and so ofc Maggie went “My dog now.”

Winn has a Rotom–the only good thing his father has ever done for him.

Sam who was originally found with a Trapinch near her pod and Sam’s adoptive parents kept him for her, there wasnt much info on it bc it wasnt native to their region and now it’s a ginormous cuddly flygon who loves ruby v much

Speaking of Ruby she has an eevee bc Sam is making absolute bank rn and eevee is considered such a good starter by everyone and sam gets it for ruby not because of the status but because it’s her way of telling ruby she can be anything she wants

(Astra, who definitely explored the entirety of the earth, with advanced senses, lightning fast travel, and the ability to be in the arctic without so much as a sweater with a damn articuno–she didnt capture it. It had never seen a human before, and was curious and so was astra. they established a rapport, and eventually astra offered it a choice and it went with her)

Kara Prince AU Pt 7

With their biggest secrets out of the way, Lena and Kara grow closer than ever. Soon, Kara shares more about her family, her upbringing, her trauma. She learns that this Lena, her Lena, was raised with love, and that she only lost her mother to cancer a few years ago.

Though its clear that Lena misses her mom, its less anguished than in the other universe. There are no thoughts to what could have been, but what has already been, and cherishing the time they had together. In a way, it brings Kara and Lena closer together, having family to miss.

Lena's a little nervous when, a few months into Kara's stay, Diana comes to visit. In town, she's Kara's cousin, but in the cottage she's the woman who raised Kara, her support and her family. But despite Lena's apprehension and desire to make a good impression, the moment Diana locks eyes on her, the woman kisses both of Lena's cheeks and wraps her in a warm embrace.

"Kara has told me much about you," Diana says, making Kara blush. "You are as beautiful as she said."

Lena smiles, shooting Kara a look. "Thank you. I'm just lucky Kara came to my shop when she did."

"Yes... the girl with the flowers," Diana echoes with a grin.

Kara's blush deepens, but she smiles when Lena leans over to kiss her cheek.

Kara takes Lena's hand. "I'm the lucky one," she murmurs.

"Some thing I have learned since joining man's world," Diana comments, "is that sometimes, is that luck is merely a facade for fate."

She looks at the two of them, content in their happiness.

"The gods smile upon you."

let's talk about supercorp - fuck the CW pt 2

I want to preface this whole thing by saying explicitly that I do ship supercorp. Like, a lot. I try to stay level-headed about my enthusiasm on Tumblr bc I have tragically realistic expectations for this pairing, but anyone who has talked to me privately about kara and lena has witnessed me literally start crying over them. I ship it guys. Really, I do.

maybe this post is redundant. I'm going to say a lot of things that everyone else has also said. but in light of the final season premiering today, and the CW being a little bitch and doubling down on encouraging fans to talk about supercorp, I think it needs to be said again.

the CW has fucked us over before. they're not really known for their hard-hitting television shows, to parallel the words of my favorite Luthor (it's more like, can we get views without queerbaiting, yes or no?) I've seen Apple+ feature TV with better plots than anything the CW has ever come up with.

no one from the writing and directorial section of supergirl has ever made any indication that they play on pursuing anything more than a platonic relationship for Kara and Lena, and this is my expectation for season six. maybe something crazy will happen. who knows. but I think it's really unlikely at this point, based on past actions of the CW.

despite this, there has been intense queerbaiting. like,,, seriously. maybe in season two they didn't really realize what they were doing. okay. sure. they still managed to create parallels to superman and Lois, and I think it's really easy to say that some of the things that happened were definitely,, intense,, for a platonic relationship.

maybe lena's whole gift giving thing can be chalked up to her not being used to having someone to show affection to in any capacity. maybe it's just the whole extra rich people love language behavior. maybe the writers thought because kara had a love interest at the time, there could be some slack in how they portrayed lena and her behavior, even if it was a little over the top. it's television, a little excess rich gratitude never hurt anyone.

but after season two? after fans rose by the hundreds and thousands to ship supercorp? after season three?? they feel no shame in fucking with us.

again, I know there are already posts about this, but please, please, watch this season cautiously. we have art and fanfiction and a whole community of people here - the show isn't the end all be all for us.

whatever happens is already set. I'm inclined to believe that they aren't going to do more than rebuild lena and kara's friendship, but of course the interaction with supercorp-related comments in the past week is definitely creating a lot of excitement (albeit a confused, concerned excitement).

these are just my thoughts on the ship and its promotion over the last few years. idk, feel free to talk to me about them. I know it's a little disjointed but there is,,, a lot. more than I can write in an organized manner five hours before the first episode airs.

And it’s like Lena said -- she grew up in a house with the most deceptive people in the world -- and her heart is so big and her spirit is so kind -- somehow, somehow -- and it’s because of that that Kara refuses to break her.

Refuses to tell her that her best friend -- her only friend -- has built their entire relationship, fundamentally, on a lie.

And she’s been pushing Lena away -- she’s been pushing everyone away -- but Lena still says she misses her. Over and over. Lena still... wants her.

No, not like... not like that.

That would be too much to hope for.

But Lena still seems to care about her, and if she doesn’t keep... hiding from her... she’ll tear all that away from Lena. From them both. 

And if she seems broken now... losing Lena will just...

She can’t imagine it.

She refuses to.

So Lena tells her she doesn’t have to hide from her, but Rao, yes she does.

So she snaps. She tosses her pen down and she stands and she snaps, because snapping once is better than breaking Lena -- breaking them -- entirely.

And she hates herself for it.

For the way Lena’s eyes shutter closed. For the way her throat constricts and her voice hardens. 

The way she stops leaning on her desk and the oh-so-composed way she holds herself, given away only by the tears in her eyes, her arms crossed across her chest.

With her mask firmly in place.

And it’s only fair, Kara supposes; her mask may be glasses-thin, but it’s light-years deep. It’s only fair, isn’t it, that Lena gets to put her guard up, her CEO, friendless, spectacular mode firmly in place.

Kara deserves it, and Lena deserves to be protected.

She still hates herself for it, for every curt word that comes out of Lena’s mouth, for every soft but efficient syllable and every breath she takes that her lips aren’t...

Kara forces herself to stop thinking about it. About Lena.

To stop thinking, period.

She doesn’t realize she’s wrong -- to push Lena away, to think she’s better off without Kara, to think she herself is better off without the people she cares about, the people she... -- until Alex.

Until she lets Alex hold her and soothe her and remind her that maybe, just maybe, she’s worthy of being loved.

So she lets her heart race wildly, and she fidgets. She fidgets because this is a conversation about Lena’s source at the bank, but it’s also a conversation about so much more.

So she fidgets, but not with her glasses -- because her glasses, right now, might just give her another panic attack -- and she stumbles over her words, and she looks away, because she can’t bear to see any pain in Lena’s eyes for one more moment.

She has to tell her. To explain. 

Because Lena deserves her truth. Lena deserves her trust. 

She doesn’t deserve to continue to be surrounded by people who claim to care for her, claim to... to love her... but who, really, are the most deceptive people on the planet.

Kara won’t deceive her anymore.

Lena doesn’t deserve it.

So she fidgets and she tries to breathe and she reminds herself that Lena, like Alex, has called her -- Kara, not Supergirl -- her favorite.

She lets the thought buoy her, and she tries to speak.

“Um... I need to apologize about my behavior... earlier. You’re right.” Her voice cracks and Lena’s arms are still folded across her chest and every moment Kara isn’t holding her is killing her, but she doesn’t deserve to hold her.

Not yet, not yet.

Possibly not ever.

“I... have a lot more baggage with... everything that’s been going on... than I previously... thought.”

She hears Lena’s heart racing and she wishes she couldn’t.

But her own heart races when Lena starts to smile, when she tells her that she was a good friend and a great boss. 

“But Lena, the reason... the reason all this baggage has been weighing on me so heavily... you don’t deserve to be deceived, not anymore. And I’m sorry I haven’t told you for this long, but I... Lena, I...”

She looks up at her, finally, and she hears Lena’s heart skip a beat. Several beats. She gulps.

She looks around at the mostly empty office and she holds her breath and she takes off her glasses.

“Being a reporter... isn’t my only job,” she says so softly she’s worried Lena won’t hear it, that she’ll have to say it again.

But Lena hears every word.

And to Kara’s surprise, she laughs.

“Oh, Kara, you... you think I didn’t know? How could I not? I’m on the phone with you, and suddenly I’m falling off my balcony, and suddenly you’re there to catch me? Darling, as fast as you can fly, a phone call from Kara Danvers to a completely different person couldn’t possibly have gone through that quickly.”

Kara stammers and she stumbles and she can’t think of any words, in either English or Kryptonian. 

Except one.

“D...darling?” she asks, and she hopes Lena doesn’t hear how her voice squeaks.

But the way she bites her lip and steps slightly closer tells her that she did hear it. And that she liked it.

Her eyes are shining with tears again, but they’re hopeful, not hurt, this time.

“Honestly I’d like to kiss you right now, but I’m afraid it would show... favoritism,” she tells her conspiratorially, nervously. Adorably.

Kara gulps and still can’t remember how to speak.

So she lets her body do the talking for her.

She takes Lena’s face between her hands, and gently, gently, gently, she brings their lips together.

They inhale each other’s breath and Lena’s body swoons into Kara’s.

Lena parts her lips and Kara brushes her tongue against Lena’s bottom lip.

“Ms. Luthor?” 

“Ms. Teschmacher!” Lena startles away from kissing Kara, but stays in her arms.

“I’m... I’m sorry to... interrupt,” Eve stammers, eyes wide like she just won the latest office pool.

Because she did.

“It’s just... Samantha Arias is here for you.”

“Of course,” Lena pulls away from Kara reluctantly, pushing Kara’s glasses tenderly back onto her face before she turns around, regarding her with raw adoration in her eyes. “Sam, I’m so glad you made it. Kara, I’ve wanted to introduce you two.”

Sam grins somewhat dazedly at the bright red tinge of Kara’s face, at the irrepressible smile on Lena’s face.

“Oh, and Ms. Teschmacher, Ms. Danvers and I will be needing an appointment with Jim in HR in the morning,” Lena calls before Eve even finishes her text to the entire office that it’s finally happened, and she saw it with her own eyes.

They don’t speak on their way out of the building, because their hands do the talking for them, their fingers interlaced as Kara starts to float.
