oh i LOVE RoyTim on it's own! likely bc i'm just a Tim multishipper and if it fits i ship, but Roy is especially fun via the Dick connection. and i 1000% agree, *especially* pre-Flashpoint, would even argue it's outright canon that Dick is far more protective of Tim and Damian than he ever was with Jason (not out of dislike, but simply bc Dick and Jason were never all that close and the tragedy of losing Jason was losing what could've been, not what he already had) and especially with Jason as Red Hood, Dick holds no particular protective brotherly feelings toward him. it's all Tim and Damian. so you're so right, the drama of RoyTim is just a smidge more upped than of JayRoy and i'd love to share headcanons-

i think it makes for a fun "crush on your older brother's friend" situation. where like. Tim knows it's unrealistic and he has no *actual* intentions to chase it when he's just 15/16 and Roy and Dick are in their twenties, often hanging out around Tim. and Roy is handsome, he's funny, he's similar in personality to ppl Tim has dated (Steph, Kon) so, it's a crush. one that he hides *well* and never makes it Dick or Roy's problem, and one Tim never expects to pan out. he just fantasizes about Roy a little bit and mostly grows out of it by the time he's an adult.

i think more fics need Lian, so i like the idea of them co-parenting Lian. especially if they're both. sort of bad at it. like Roy loves her and he's trying, but he's doing this basically alone and it's not like he has experience. Tim also has no experience. neither of them know what on earth to do. it's a very cute idea that just relies on the two of them being terrible at parenting and Roy getting so mad that the first time Lian says "dada" she says it to Tim that he considers breaking up for a good five minutes.

how they get together can happen in a lot of ways, but i'm interested in the idea of Dick asking Roy to talk to Tim during Tim's Red Robin arc. Roy has experience helping kids through his work helping young addicts and nothing else has worked, so he offers to at least try with Tim. and Roy, who also doesn't handle grief well, understands at least some of what Tim is going through. especially since Roy dealt with Oliver dying and then suddenly coming back, he's at least open to the idea Bruce could be alive. he's just around to try and help Tim keep some emotional stability, but it ends up with Roy helping with the search and somehow, falling for Tim along the way

they go to sitcom levels of chaos trying to keep the relationship hidden from Dick. they *both* know Dick is far too protective of Tim to react well to it. but also, i think Roy would get *just* a bit of an ego about sleeping with Tim under Dick's nose. he makes a point of strutting around when Dick invites him over, finding reasons to be shirtless just to make Tim squirm a little bit. it's that sort of kink where you're excited about the risk of being caught. that fits these two so well and i can't explain it.

because Roy is used to mentoring younger heroes, i think he would have a bigger than normal moral panic about dating Tim. he fights his feelings for a *while*, to the point Tim can tell Roy is fighting his feelings and he's trying to convince Roy he's fine with this. Tim telling Roy about his childhood crush does not help. it makes Roy feel *worse*. it makes them take things very slowly, and i could see Roy being the type to never fully touch Tim until Tim is 18, no matter how much Tim insists it's okay.

i do think they have unhinged sex when they actually get into it though. no matter how sure Roy is that he'll be gentle the first time, the minute he gets his hands on Tim, it is feral. there is blood and foul dirty talk and Tim cannot walk the next day. i think Roy makes for a very mean dom, the type who will make fun of you for being a mess in bed. he just has those vibes, and it works great for getting Tim to just. turn his brain off.

i think Roy, who's struggled with picking hero names before, would be someone to try to force Tim to let go of Red Robin once the whole Bruce thing is over. it's not Tim's name and Tim doesn't need to keep punishing himself with it. Roy is nice about it at first, but then i do think he threatens to set that damn suit on fire if Tim keeps wearing it and doesn't come up with a new hero name. and the worst part is, Tim does know he's serious.

when Dick does find out, chaos. an absolute shitshow. when Roy tells him, Dick punches Roy in the face before he even finishes explaining himself. it's a pure gut reaction. even Bruce isn't as protective over Tim as Dick is. it takes a *lot* of convincing from Tim that it's okay and he wanted this before Dick calms down, and he still doesn't talk to Roy for like a month until the rest of the Titans are forced to hold an intervention reminding Dick of his own dating history with age gaps, like Babs. Dick does cool down, but he is not afraid to stoop to "you're fucking my brother" in an argument bc he wins everytime when he brings it up.

i think Tim is the protective partner. everyone *expects* it to be Roy, he's older and more experienced, but it's Tim who will absolutely lose it if someone threatens Roy's or Lian's life. like not fanonish "committing murder" Tim, but more so canonish "i have a contingency plan for everything" Tim. Roy has had to hold him back a couple times. honestly i think the moral conversations Roy and Tim have are so interesting. because Roy will cross the line for those he loves, so bc of that, Tim is careful to make sure Roy is never in a position where he has to protect Tim bc he knows it would turn lethal quickly. it's a very "i know what you're capable of and you don't scare me but i won't let you become a worse version of yourself bc of me" sort of self preservation vibe. i think it'd be very neat. Tim fights like hell when he's close to death bc his thought is always "i refuse to let Roy feel like he has to avenge me" which i find very crunchy.

Yesss we love purly in this household here we go:

• they’ve been friends since they were pretty little just because they’re the same age, both greasers, etc. Even if they weren’t always super close, they kinda had each other’s backs like if Curly saw someone messing w Pony he’d give him a “fuck off or see what happens” kind of look or if Curly’s getting into some trouble Pony would try to distract him because school is no fun if Curly is suspended

• as they get older though, they become more friends, like proper friends who hang out and get up to stupid shit. Darry and Soda don’t love that Curly is who Pony chooses to hang out with, but at the end of the day, they’ve all done stupid shit too, and as long as Pony doesn’t get arrested or break his curfew, there’s not much they can really say

• how they got together was a very slow, unofficial progression. One day Curly asks if they should practice kissing on each other so they can be ready and Pony’s like yeah that sounds smart. So they’re each other’s first kisses and they continue to practice on each other so they can get better and better 😭

• one day Pony’s like “so have you kissed anyone else yet” and Curly’s like “nah you?” “Me neither” and it’s quiet for a few minutes before Pony goes “I like when we do tho” and Curly’s just like “yeah same” so they just keep doing it then

• I feel like they don’t really call each other boyfriends, but everyone that’s important to them knows they’re together. If we’re being realistic, they wouldn’t be able to act like more than friends in public so that plays a big role in it, but they don’t really mind because they’re not pda people at all and if they know they’re together, that’s what matters

• Curly uses anything but Pony’s real name. Baby Curtis and Ponybabe are probably the most frequently used

• when they’re not in public, they’re not super like affectionate, more just handsy. Always arms around the waist or on the hips when they’re sitting together or walking somewhere. They don’t hold hands that often but Pony likes linking pinkies. They like to lay in each other’s laps and argue over whose turn it is to do so 😭 Pony likes to do it while they watch tv bc Curly will rub his back or head and he looooves that. Curly likes to wrap his arms around Pony’s waist and bury his face in his stomach and take a nap like that

• making out all the time. Every single one of the gang, Tim, and Angela have walked in on them making out. It’s a canon event in their lives, could not be avoided. Curly and Pony have the audacity to not even be embarrassed they just go somewhere else to continue 😭

• Angela and Pony actually get along super well and whenever Pony is over Curly will yell at her for trying to steal him 💀💀💀 Angela is like bruh I do NOT want him

• then as soon as Pony leaves Angela has to listen to Curly just talk and talk about this kid like she cannot catch a break

• Tim likes Pony because Curly tends to stay out of trouble more now and also he just thinks Pony is a good kid

• overall Purly might not have the most conventional relationship but they love each other and at the end of the day that’s all that matters

I feel like as Pony gets older (especially if we're talking after canon) he'd really try to fill up his schedule as much as possible doing literally everything he can so he 1. is too busy to think about everything that happened and 2. so he can try and make up for the lives Dally and Johnny never got to live. Cass cain and kon for hcs (separately or together go wild)

Headcanon A:  realistic

they are both nonbinary. cass grew up without language to even begin to describe gender - what the hell is a "boy" or a "girl"? she uses she/her because it's what she's used to, but if everyone had used he/him for her at first, she'd have been fine with that too. it's all just words and none of it makes sense to her. she is just... herself. none of the words and little boxes they delineate make sense to her. it's lonely and frustrating. kon meanwhile is so, so conscious of how he's perceived and what little boxes he's supposed to fit within. he represses any feelings that are out of line with those boxes, but he gets really in his head about it sometimes. which is also lonely, and frustrating.

they both kind of end up exploring that together. it's a slow process, but kon is very easy for cass to open up to, because he always waits so patiently and is happy to fill silences for her. (he makes her laugh. he's one of the first people she ever knew who just wanted to make her laugh.) and he doesn't mind if it takes her a while to figure out the right words to describe things. in turn, she's good at reading him and hearing all the words he doesn't say. they stargaze together a lot.

Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious

they're both affection-starved and they both understand each other on a really profound level, which means they're both aware the other is affection-starved. what this means: they're completely platonic friends who cuddle and occasionally kiss. what this means: there's a whole romcom plot in which tim and steph witness cass smacking kon's ass and going "thanks babygirl <3" when he gives her a slice of fresh pie a la mode, and (not unreasonably) think hey what the fuck. when did they become a thing??? shenanigans ensue.

Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends

finding out she lost brenda and all her friends in bludhaven was already hard enough. when tim (in tears) told her that they'd also lost kon, barely any time at all later, she shut down and was entirely nonverbal for three full days. how many loved ones is she supposed to outlive? how many? and why must they die when she lives? she's already taken a life - surely if anyone deserves to die, it's her. not him. he was made to be a weapon just like her, but he rose above it. she didn't, not until she'd already done the unforgivable. why did he have to die? why does she have to live? why? why?

Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.

Is it okay to ask; I found a post today that listed the batfam's ethnicities and wanted to check if they were right? I am new to comics so I haven't gotten through enough yet to know the difference. It said Dick is Romani, Jason is of mixed heritage but didn't say which, that Tim was supposed to be of asian heritage, that Damian is Arabic and Chinese, Cass is half asian, and Helena is mixed Italian and African. Are those accurate? I don't want to get it wrong in future references bc I know DC would rather make the batboys blue eyed black haired white boys you can't tell the difference between ;-;

dick is romani! this was written into canon by devin grayson in the 90s and made official in gotham knights #20 in 2001. devin grayson wrote dick as being half-romani on his father's side, but more recently tom taylor has changed that to dick's mother being rom; i'll be honest that i don't actually know if his father is now non-rom or if both of dick's parents are now romani. dick was initially created as 100% generic white (it was 1939), but he has been explicitly (half-)romani for the last 25 years. (fun fact: according to pre-2011 comics, the grayson family are roma who have been in england for several generations.)

jason and tim are white, as in generic american unspecified white. tim explicitly calls himself white on panel, and jason has never been called anything other than white. (there's a case to be made that jason is part-chinese — in batman: a death in the family, lady shiva is considered as one of the women who may be jason's mother. however, i think that's just jim starlin thinking for some reason that shiva is white, not him thinking jason is chinese. jason has blue eyes and originally had red hair (which morrison brought back but we ignore that forever okay?).) of course everyone is welcome to come up with their own headcanons and personal views of the characters, but in canon specifically they're white and always have been. as far as i'm aware they were never intended to be anything other than white either.

damian is half-asian, half-white; his mother is arab and chinese like you said. talia's father is ra's al ghul, who is like. technically older than arab identity if we want to get pedantic. her mother was chinese. bruce is obviously white. (i'm 99% sure the waynes are old stock scottish american. since the new 52, bruce's mother has also been explicitly jewish.)

cass is also half-asian, half-white. her father, david cain, is afaik some brand of generic american white, and her mother is lady shiva, who, despite jim starlin's apparent best wishes, is in fact chinese-american.

helena's racial background was changed during the new 52; before 2011, she was explicitly 100% sicilian-american, but since the new 52, she's been black and italian. so it depends on the continuity.

tldr; the post was mostly right but jason and tim are canonically the ethnic equivalent of wonder bread so idk where that bit came from

ur gonna wanna kill me for this but in most of my imaginings before n52, a biological daughter is not in the cards for dick. one of my fav headcanons for dick is long-term consequences of being at ground zero during chemo (briefly talk about this here). so, a possible consequence for that is sterility. i need him to have crazy feelings about being the last flying grayson.

but to answer your question properly, i think dick adopting a girl could be soooo interesting if done by someone other than taylor (olivia desmond who). just look at how hard his dynamic goes with sophia tevis.

if we veer into headcanon territory for this:

one of my fav ideas would be dick keeping in touch with sophia after blüdhaven got nuked (briefly talk about this here). possibly during the one year later arc... maybe he takes sophia to new york with him (instead of his no stakes arc of being on yachts with tim & bruce lol). he doesn't send her to boarding school immediately and instead, they spend time trying to recover from the shit-show their lives have been recently.

oooh, maybe a rlly fun arc where sophia gets past her hero worship/crush and properly considers dick's role in what happened to her family... which wars with how much she knows he cares about her (how he visited her at the halfway house, how he saved her from chemo, how he made sure she healed from the radiation). shared grief over how their fathers loved them but often failed them.

you can have some great rose stuff here too. instead of joining the teen titans, she follows dick to new york and ends up becoming a regular presence in his shitty little apartment where she bullies dick about how he lives. she gets to know sophia and comes to care for her. maybe a kidnapping plot where she's the one who saves sophia from some mobsters who didn't get the tevis family memo.

a lot of bullying from the og titans (esp donna and roy who are also in new york) about dick essentially parenting two teenage girls. at dick's insistence, rose hesitantly reaches out to people she sort of let down during her evil era but only after she pulls an uno reverse on dick saying she'll only do it if he does it. she mocks him a lot by calling him 'renegade'. it never fails to make sophia laugh who calls him 'crutches' occasionally too.

sophia eventually joins a public high school in new york. dick and rose make rlly embarrassing banners for her graduation only for sophia to mock them saying wow look at how much you care... aren't you embarrassed?

also, i love the desert baby arc soooo much but i think the weight of dick saving this little girl + all the costs he bore to make that happen... is much more impactful if he never meets her again. maybe he does occasionally check up on how she's doing (is she loved? is she safe?) but only from a distance. the people who adopt her often get random tidbits of information about raising a meta-human and the family collectively refers to dick as their guardian angel.

i would be remiss if i didn't mention mar'i grayson bc she had me hooked with just that cameo in titans '99.

and abt their teaching methods/personalities being kinda swapped, I think both of them took things abt the other to heart and internalized them. so it now reflects on their teaching. Bernard taking everything more serious after the shooting at Louis Grieves and the cult while Tim indulged (even) more in his goofy/casual side (though you can always wonder if his base silly requires him being even sillier)

this was rly hard. a few months ago I hit 71 fics on ao3, which is a wildly high number! and all of them are my personal children whom I love. also I know there's a fair amount of recency bias (and frankly also I think I have gotten much better at writing than I was when I first started posting fic more than a decade ago!) that being said. five fics that I rly loved writing:

whetstone - fe3h, Edelgard/Byleth, major character death

this is 4k about sacrifice and empire and being in love! I wrote it mostly on the train because the idea seized me by the throat and did not let me go. for a while there was a group of friends on Twitter who were passing snippets around to make each other sad, which is really all I can ask for in a work.

breath hot, blood red - batman, gen, graphic violence

while we're thinking about love and violence! I love in comics when Batman is a Creature and a monster and a horror. and I also love a devil's bargain. this was so fun to write bc I got to use a different register than I usually do, almost a fairy-tale style, while still having everyone's dialogue be really grounded. and I think the combo worked really well!

underfoot, a threshold - FatT, samothes/samot, no warnings

speaking of fairy tale styles. I still think this is among the best things I've ever written which is funny because I think about fifteen people have read it. but they all really liked it, and so did I, which is all that matters in the end! writing samot and samothes pre-canon is so much fun because I get to drop in all of the foreshadowing about how doomed they are while still writing two people who very much love each other. doomesticity!

there when the light comes in - DC, timkon, no warnings

I posted this really fast bc I was having so much fun writing it and as a result I didn't get to really sit in the writing process but it was a blast. I liked doing research for this so much that we actually ended up going to a few of the spots Tim and Kon do on our actual honeymoon road trip (Elmer's bottle tree ranch is as fantastic in person as it was to read about.) also I got to write so much banter!

I learned so much about plot and structure and character development while writing this! it is only my second actual longfic and it was very much a Learning and Growing experience for me. I got to do world building! I got to make OCs! also because I posted a chapter a week I got to see everyone's responses coming in every week, which remains one of my favorite fandom experiences. I had a lot of lovely friends cheering me on but i cannot say enough nice things about @suedeuxnim who beta'd this and made it about ten thousand times better than it would have otherwise been. literally helped me fix the entire emotional arc!!

so one of my fahc headcanons is that rimmy has a pet python named gummy banana so i'm transferring that to this au as well. since they all live in an abandoned mineshaft she usually is just hanging out coiled wherever its warmest, or sitting outside sunning.

everyone but matt and joe has their own horse. matt and joe dont have horses because for some reason animals hate them.

i'm imagining their hideout to be very much like slim's secret hideout from home on the range.

trevor knew matt and jeremy before starting his life of crime. jeremy was already an established outlaw that trevor had had run ins with when he was still a regular cowpoke, and matt was a friend from town who was always kind of bookish and smart but funny.

alfredo and trevor constantly get confused for each other by lawmen. this is sometimes really helpful, and sometimes a detriment to plans.

rimmy tim is just jeremy's like, outlaw name. not many people actually know he's named jeremy outside of the crew.

jeremy is selectively mute! he uses sign language to speak and everyone in the crew can understand him just fine! though the newbies sometimes misinterpret what he's saying which causes for some funny situations i'm sure.

jeremy comes from a troubled past that only matt (his closest friend) and trevor (his leader) know. i think its fun to make rimmy tim like, really mysterious and dangerous but silly and weird at the same time.

clay made a joke to me that alfredo gets branded on his ass when he eventually gets caught and i decided to make it canon bc its funny. he moons a sheriff one day and the guy keeps a grudge about it for months until they finally catch him and brand him on the ass cheek for revenge.

It is about RAGE and REGRET. FEAR and FORGIVENESS. It is BEING THE MONSTER AND ASKING FOR LOVE ANYWAY

Ok but. But but. Are there any other parallels? You could go the Lynch brothers route (Dick as Declan, Tim or Damian as Matthew, Bruce as a complicated and dead Niall whose obsessions killed him without considering what it would leave behind for his sons). But I think this really only considers the characters relationships with Jason, not who they are as a person. IF we are looking at who they are instead of their relationships (so yes this does not consider romantic/platonic/blahblah):

It would be easy to say Dick is Gansey. They have the same name, are ~leaders~, and are canonically the prettiest princess in any room. I get it and maybe in the Titans you'd be right, but here, Bruce is Gansey. He is the one with the quest! He is the one driving things forwards and bringing the others along. He's the one with the family name and the family wealth and the family home. He went through something traumatic as a child that irrevocably changed him, fueled his intense guilt and obsession. He brought the group together, and yet feels left behind by them. Someone who cares deeply about the people immediately around him, and yet will not stop pursuing his other goals even if it's hurting them or himself. Obsessed, I think, with proving that he deserves to be here.

Which means that Dick...is Adam Parrish. Like. The constant search for independence. The perfectionism. The bad relationship with his father that forced him to need to be his own man. (Sorry real Bruce but you sucked in batman #416) Loving someone so much and yet always thinking the worst of them. Refusing to be a burden and yet accepting any yoke that comes his way. The intensity of the performance, of pretending to be who you wish you were for the people you care about. Taking on responsibilities because there is literally no other choice, nothing else you could do. Picking the best of your options and knowing that none for them are to rest easy. Valuing freedom so much and giving up your literal body for the quest.

PLUS (less perfect but): Cass as Henry Cheng (and not just bc they are both asian do not look at me like that) Narrative outsider who was watching from afar and put themselves in the narrative. Was molded by shady parent's shady business practices. Was put in a situation as a child they should not have had to endure, which challenged their beliefs and shaped them anew. And maybe like, later Tim as Noah, a bright, fun, young kid on a skateboard who gets himself involved in something too big for him and is undeniably damaged by it. Tim isn't betrayed by someone the way Noah is, but he's kind of...betrayed by the narrative, in a way? Betrayed by the adventure that he thought he was getting. Too clever for his own good, but sometimes naive about people. Lowkey a mirror that lets people see whatever they want to see lol

(I don't see super clear parallels for anyone else lol but I did have a fun time with the thought of Damian as Blue (short/down to fight/has another family/environmentalist/kind of feels fundamentally alienated as someone who is not like everyone else/wears green))

i've always had big feelings about Jason and Steph's feelings about each other and how i always wish we got a bigger canon reaction out of Jason toward Steph's death instead of it being basically glossed over. especially because of how recently Steph died compared to Jason's return. i think it's fun if Jason actually doesn't know Steph existed for a while until he's fighting Tim and he says the wrong thing about dead Robins and Tim, who's struggling to mourn Steph says something very feral and mean about Jason disrespecting Steph's memory.

like, Black Mask is often associated as a Red Hood rogue and he "killed" Steph, so why isn't Jason mad about that? why isn't he going after Mask bc of that? it'd be so good. especially if Roman, not knowing Jason was Robin, tries to brag to jason about having killed a Robin and it makes Jason's blood turn cold bc how did he miss that fact.

and adding BruJay and BruSteph is. so good i wish there was more BruSteph in this fandom. when Jason confronts Bruce and he *demands* to know if Bruce had a *thing* with her too. honestly? sort of fun if by a cruel twist of fate, Bruce only slept with Jason and Steph, not Tim or Dick. like maybe he had feelings for Dick that never got actualized and maybe Tim avoided it, but Steph wanted to prove herself to Bruce and had her own weird feelings about Batman and Jason was just so full of hero worship. so Bruce lives with the guilt the two Robins he slept with are the dead ones, and maybe that's a curse on it's own. and now Jason is old enough to know what he had with Bruce was sort of fucked up (even if he still craves it) and it's fucked up even more than Bruce *did it again*. another kid's life ended just to be Bruce's other half.

and when Steph comes back to Gotham and becomes Batgirl (something Bruce disapproves of) i think it's fun if Jason goes to check her out. bc now he has *more* in common with her. two Robins who defied death. maybe he's just curious about her, maybe he wants to get back at Bruce, maybe it's both. but Steph is back and just as angry as Jason that she has no memorial and somehow, Jason is the only one who gets her anger. sure Tim understands her anger and is angry on her behalf, but Jason *gets* it. somehow Steph is sitting on rooftops, venting to him when she knows she shouldn't trust him. she knows she shouldn't *be like* him. but she sort of wants to get back at Bruce too and well. Jason is handsome and funny and has tortured Black Mask just to avenge her and so just once. Steph lets herself have this selfish thing.

Steph does send Bruce a picture of herself in bed with Jason just to fuck with him. Bruce predictably loses it. it's a win-win for Steph and Jason, to have each other and get back at Bruce. and eventually, they both cave to Bruce and there's BruJaySteph as god intended <3

3. i was SOOOO STUMPED ON MELANIE for a WHILE before i remembered she was a youtuber and then i exploded on the spot. her video is titled "the long overdue absolution of gerard keay" and she works for six months to make it perfect and it gets a lot of bad attention and skeptics but mostly condolences and maybe even a few people who had their own experiences but didn't recognize who he was until they saw a picture of him smiling. she'd include selfies they'd taken together as proof of her knowing him. i'm crying a little.

4. sasha losing a sister is a phrase i had a hard time with because there are so many ways to read it, like. that was her best friend's wife, and so kind of her sister that way, but also just. a sister. no more estrogen. no more joy.

4b. divshah is a sweet and thoughtful little bee girl and i am so sorry to her forever because people definitely make fun of her but GERRY NEVER DID! GERRY NEVER DID!

danny crying is extremely important to me for that reason too yes g-d. like. all the other men cried in this, too (especially tim YIKES, MAN) but something about letting danny just weep openly and in such a human way felt like. g-d he's needed this for such a long time. so much longer than anybody is able to count. he needed to let that out and be held through it and he needed to accept that comfort and it's not the first time, really! i try not to be too restrained with letting characters cry because there are a thousand reasons that somebody might like, feel good about seeing it just play out naturally and without shame.

for tim... hmmm. hard to say exactly because i DO like a lot of tim's relationships with other characters, romantic and otherwise. i guess i might go with tim and ari's relationship just in that it felt very flat to me? dixon has this issue where he knows how to write two kinds of girls: the one he likes (steph) and everyone else. and ari and tim's relationship was so... like do yall even LIKE each other? dixon's perception of "girl and boy" is so like teenage version of "ha ha the ol ball and chain" boomer jokes that i was just so deeply uninterested in them as a pair. with a writer who wasnt dixon tho im sure they couldve been better and ari could have had an actual personality

man whatever it was, it was like probably close to 10 years ago and i sure dont remember. @loisinherlane got me interested in kon i blame her for everything about where i am today. she's been into comics far longer than me, and i guess... hmmm. i watched the first two(?) seasons of yja in like 2016 and mentioned that to her and i think she was like no rimi this is the cooler conner kent look at him and i was like oh he DOES look funky fresh and fun! but then i only actually started reading comics myself in 2022, so until then all the comics guys were blorbo-in-laws.

i DO actually remember the very first time anyone mentioned tim drake to me. i was around like, 13 or 14, at a sleepover with a childhood friend who was into comics bc her dad was into comics, and we were settling down in bed for the night and i happened to pick up a batman comic from her shelf while she was in the bathroom and when she came out she started telling me about the comics, and how dc recently did something stupid called the "new 52", and how there are actually five robins, and i remember vividly that i was trying so hard to keep up but i was just staring at the ceiling with the blankets up to my chin because the air conditioning at her place was always way too cold for me, and i was just like. who on earth can possibly keep track of all of these guys???? gosh okay i'll just try to remember dick grayson i think he's the most important one. (note: at this point i had pretty much every family tree in the silmarillion memorized.) little did i even know...
