i did it… i finally finished the english->arabic course
only took me three years give or take 😅
#well. until the next update hopefully#bc imo this course is very limited#it only teaches two tenses and it doesn’t even touch on the dual pronouns or any of that#and it’s quranic/classical so you learn all the short vowels which doesn’t help you learn colloquial arabic#which makes sense as an msa course but still#and all of the helpful grammar charts and vocab lists are hidden or only found on the pc format which is super inconvenient#they also need to make changes on the last few units or so bc those were just dozens of the same few lessons each time#and it was very annoying to not be learning anything new for a large chunk of this course#ever since the last update removing the tree it all got messed up and claimed i made further progress than i actually did#so. next step i should probably get proper grammar books and avtually practice with my colleagues#duolingo#languages#arabic#my posts

ive had many Thoughts about tmagp but i feel reluctant to share any of them since i feel silly trying to speculate about a show that barely even has any episodes and tbh i think im justified in this bc last week i was gonna post like "i wonder if the fears only started manifesting in the protocol universe around/after 2018 since all the incidents so far happened in 2022 👀" and then this week we immediately got an incident from 2009 -_-
#kinda had a feeling that was the case anyway (which is why i Didnt post it) since only having a span of like 5ish yrs#that incidents could possibly take place could be super limiting but like....i still am wondering when manifestations started#my bet is that is was probably when/around the time the magnus institute burned down (why the fears went into The Past of this universe#also has me 🤔) which tbh im hoping for bc i feel like if its much earlier than that then its just sort of. stupid#like i think whats really interesting about the fears being in a new universe is that theres no real history attached to them yet#the oldest avatars have only been around for like a couple of decades at this point. what few cults/groups there might be are very new#nobody knows shit about fuck yet and theres so much potential for how things go. and thats just so much more#compelling imo than 'oops! all established groups and people and frameworks!' again#blathering#got on a bit of a ramble sorry. like i said i have a Lot of thoughts. none coherent of course lol

Strange Magic sequel idea/concept that will never happen (bc the original movie didn’t do so hot and also i do not work in hollywood)
small warning, this is like the entire summary written out
The Bog King and Marianne marry and combine their two kingdoms. Goblins and Fairies now live together, but there’s still a lot of tension between them. The only thing preventing them from clashing is their loyalty to their respected ruler.
This conflict mostly gets resolved with the birth of Bog and Marianne’s first child. Lets call the kid, Onyx (bc he needs a name). Onyx is beloved by both goblins and fairies alike, who see him as their true uniter and a bridge between their two very different worlds. He helps them to see themselves as equals and learn to coexist as one kingdom.
Meanwhile, Roland looks into a mirror and is freed from the love potion spell (his one true love is himself). After coming out of the daze and learning what’s become of the fairy kingdom, he quickly devises a plan to break up the now combined kingdoms.
This, of course, involves kidnapping the beloved prince who unites them. He plans it at the little prince’s first birthday party. Chaos ensues. Something goes awry and the “failed” kidnap results in the kingdom all thinking the prince is now dead. This assumption is amplified with the small wings of the prince being found at the scene of the crime (a protagonist with some type of disability is interesting imo, plus it’s important to the plot). The thought is that some larger creature ate him (and maybe that is how both he and Roland get their injuries).
Roland doesn’t get caught and isn’t the presumed kidnapper. In fact, he’s hurt badly in the confrontation, leading him to flee now heavily scarred, turned “ugly,” not knowing and not caring about what happened to the prince.
The kingdom turns on each other: the goblins think the fairies did it, claiming they can’t stand having a half-goblin heir; the fairies say the goblins did it, thinking they might have gone back to their “savage” ways.
Soon after, it is shown that their son is not in fact dead but rather “lost.”
His disappearance is easily explained with him falling through the cracks between the two kingdoms, literally. Somewhere along the border there is a deep crack that is off limits/folklore to goblins and fairies. This is where the gnome creatures live.
Neither of the kingdoms know this, because the creatures remain hidden, anonymous. Like with the goblins and fairies, everything beyond the darkness is off limits/folklore to them. But they provide offerings” to goblins and fairies, which is something like coal for fuel and diamond for currency (things that affect their livelihood/economy, but the gnomes do it as a way to appease the “gods” who are really just goblins and fairies). They view Onyx’s abrupt arrival as a task from the gods to raise him as one of their own and learn the ways of the gnome people.
Flash forward to present day:
The kingdoms are more divided than ever. Marianne closes off on everyone and everything, leaving an equally grief-stricken Bog to rule basically both kingdoms alone (with the fairy kingdom not really liking him/disobeying his orders because, in their eyes, he’s not their leader).
Roland remains hidden in the shadows, too fearful of the way he looks to enjoy the kingdoms being divided again. His self-hatred turns to hatred toward others and he vows revenge, but doesn’t know where to start.
Meanwhile,
Onyx is a rambunctious kid with a skill for climbing steep things, such as the walls leading up to the outside world. He works with the gnomes to help mine coal and things, but is often bored of the work mentality. The constant “go! go! go!” is too much and goblins and fairies unintentionally pressure them to keep moving (again, without them knowing the gnomes are down there).
But he’s seen as the gnomes’ protector. And when one gnome nearly falls to his death after lurking too close to the edge, it’s Onyx who takes the lead and rallies all of the other gnomes to work together and save him.
He’s not allowed to climb too far up the wall (both because of the risk of falling and because the outside people are presumed dangerous), but his curiosity gets the better of him one day and he climbs to the very top, only to witness creatures who look just like him. He sees creatures flying and understands the scars on his back were once wings.
Curiosity gets the better of him and he wanders into a nearby village where he sees the things the gnomes work hard to mine being used for their pleasure. A rage fuels him at the very sight. It is in every way an injustice.
Roland spots the lost prince during his trip to the village and plans out his revenge on him, coming to the conclusion everything bad that’s happened to him started with his unsuccessful plot to kidnap him. He follows him. (He’s a drastically different, more evil guy than he was in the original movie here: the point of no return kind of different.)
Onyx returns to the gnome creatures quickly to express his anger: how it’s all a lie and how the creatures above live leisurely while they’re stuck down under working for them in the mines.
The gnomes begin an uprise with the encouragement from the lost prince. They take control of the elf village he visited simply by luck (catching everyone off guard at a party), but understand anything beyond that they will be easily defeated. Onyx, a warrior at heart but with little battle experience, is still encouraging them to try.
The Bog King hears word of this mysterious uprising and quickly flies out there to handle it. A fight ensues with Bog (and his army) easily outnumbering the gnomes. But he freezes at the sight of the one gnome out of place—his son, instantly recognizing the face. Onyx, recognizing Bog only as the leader of the tyrants enslaving the gnomes, throws a sharp object at his wings while he’s halted. And Bog comes tumbling down, his wings severely damaged. The gnomes capture him and drag him down into the crack to hold him hostage.
While down there, Bog is shown the hardships that the gnome people face and agrees something must be done about it.
Later, he and Onyx have a moment where he reveals that he is his father (after he’s absolutely certain this boy is in fact his lost, presumed dead son). His son is resistant to accept the news, and even more resistant of the fact that Bog wants to now take him away from the gnomes and live with the creatures above. He pulls away from his father’s touch, claiming he belongs down here with the gnomes.
Marianne, after learning of her husband’s capture, awakens from her fog and flies up with a fury to rescue him.
By then, Bog is no longer a prisoner and climbing (due to his wings being damaged) with some gnomes up the wall to return to the outside and settle this dispute once and for all. Onyx, despite Bog’s encouragement, does not go up with him.
Later, Onyx has a change of heart (probably after a gnome elder talks with him about it) and he begins his climb to catch up with them. But Roland gets to him first and kidnaps him (again).
Bog hears his panicked call and quickly moves into action to rescue him. Marianne, who hears it too in the middle of kicking gnome butt in the village, moves toward the chaos. They all find themselves near the edge of the crack with Roland threatening to drop the wingless prince. Finally, it’s revealed he is the one who did it all those years ago.
And Roland gives some long speech about never meaning any true harm, that it just all got out of hand, and that he just wanted true love but can’t now because of the way he looks. He holds Onyx’s arm as he speaks, his grip slowly loosening with the threat of dropping him in. Bog, in a panic, is trying to convince him to move away from the edge, that Onyx is innocent in all this. But Roland refuses to listen.
Marianne, witnessing all of this somewhere nearby, moves into action. She hits Roland, who loses his grip on Onyx. Bog flies with damaged wings to catch him before he falls into the darkness.
A fight ensues between Roland and the king and queen. Fairies and goblins alike witness this, their leaders’ first fight together in years. Somehow Roland’s wings get damaged, leading him to hang off the edge with no way of getting himself up. His hands are slipping and he’s pleading for the king and queen to show him mercy. Both Bog and Marianne are unwilling to help, wanting him to fall to his death; he was the cause of all their pain, after all.
Onyx quickly moves into action, rallying the gnomes to work together and save him (just like at the start), much to everyone’s surprise. They’re able to lift him to safety. Roland is crying out his gratitude as Stuff and Thang apprehend him with some fairytale version of handcuffs. Everyone looks to Bog for his sentencing, thinking execution is what he’ll go for. He approaches the fairy with gritted teeth. He wants to attack him, but holds back: “My son deems ya worthy of livin’, so you’ll rot in my dungeon fer the rest of yer days.” Or something like that, idk.
The story concludes at yet another birthday party where the gnomes coexist now with the fairies and goblins, learning how to stop worshipping them as these otherworldly beings. Maybe Griselda takes advantage of their innocence and puts them to work, making them be her chair and hold her drink for her while she sips it. And Dawn has to interfere by scolding her, releasing the gnomes from duty. Bog and Marianne have a heartfelt moment alone and then with their son. And also maybe it’s shown that in the dungeon Roland finds love/friendship somehow with the imp (who, of course, is in prison too), again idk.
The kingdom is once again at peace. The story ends.

Anyway, that’s my idea. It’s very different from the enemies to lovers plot in the first movie, but i still think it’s a cool/interesting idea to explore. Too busy with real life to write this fanfic out fully, so you get this instead.

hiya zen ! i'm sorry if this has been asked before but it just seemed like such a fun concept to explore.
on to the question, which of the seven deadly sins do you think fits nagito best ? honestly, he's so complex and putting him into a small box is already difficult enough as it is, but combined with the fact that... pretty much none of them are accurate to his character, it's pretty difficult to tell.
i've seen people (on r/danganronpa, so not too surprising) say he's wrath, which feels ,,, iffy to me. that doesn't feel like it fits him at all. his desire of wanting the very best for others seems to contrast with wrath. honestly, willing to bet those people just went "oh evil person who does bad things bc it's fun ok must be wrath then".
one i have mixed feelings about is envy, which... fits hajime better than nagito imo. sure, his entire worldview is kind of based around talent, but it doesn't feel like jealousy to me. the core of his character is that: due to trauma and the talent-obsessed society around him, he starts to hate himself... and instead of trying to desperately give everything away to change that like hajime , he just... accepts it. he accepts it as a part of himself, or hell, as the entirety of himself, as if that was all there was to him. hell, he even states *twice* that he doesn't envy the ultimates. once in the beginning of chapter 2 during his monologue, where he states that:
"Ah, just so you know, what I feel is different from admiration."
"Admiration is... wishing you could be like the object of your admiration."
"But, what I feel is more... pure. More like a selfless love that wants nothing in return."
And, once at... the beginning of the OVA i think ??? it's been a long time since i rewatched it so I don't really remember but he says something about how... the star of the show is such a demanding role, and how he'd rather remain as he is or something ???
pride is crossed off for obvious reasons LMFAO.
greed isn't accurate to him either. his only motivations are for others, not for himself. and even then, he wishes for an " absolute hope that can overcome any despair " . he doesn't even wish for an material possessions, if that makes sense. can hope be found through those material possessions ? i mean , probably. but like... what he wishes for is.. not only selfless , but also... so abstract ? i don't think he'd be a big fan of the idea that you could achieve pure hope through something material. he views it as absolute good, an absolute good like that would usually be found in other things than just something so limiting as material possessions. I'm pretty unsure about this part though.
lust is... eh. lust is almost always interpreted in a sexual sense, but it can also work in other contexts, though i'm not sure what definition would be in that case. i guess he's lustful for wanting the best for people LOL ??? that sounds so weird.
the people who say nagito is horny all the time would argue nagito is lustful in the sexual sense, and i mean , maybe but not really ? we know he compares hope to sex in one of the songs written by megumi ogata (which i'll consider canon), but he we also know that he absolutely isn't a sex freak by any means and in the games and anime, is actually pretty chaste. he also views sex as something intimate to share with a person he loves. something to share with a person who loves him enough to be intimate with him as well, and pretty much just... mutual expression of trust and intimacy ? i'd interpret lust to be like.. sex obsessed, pretty much. which, of course, kind of contradicts nagito.
anyway, i briefly considered sloth for him, in the sense that he doesn't want to put in effort to achieve something great for himself. it's all for others. he's never going to put in effort for something if it is self-serving, and... even though he ends up significantly influencing other people's lives, he plays a much more passive role in his own life if that makes any sense ????? oh, and it could also be telling of his luck in a way, in the sense that he's kind of... bound to it and can't escape it ? i have no idea 😭 to be honest, this one is atleast slightly understandable, unlike all the others which are just blatantly inaccurate to his character LMFAO.
i don't know, those are just my thoughts. what do you think ?
I just need you to know what I was giggling and kicking my feet over how much of a Nagito understander you are,,, this is such an interesting question it absolutely has not been asked before!!!
That being said, I’m honestly on the same page as you are. I’m a little stumped since none of them really describe Nagito properly? Sloth is the closest one that you could twist into a way of it fitting him, but otherwise most of the others are blatantly inaccurate to important aspects of his character??? I know that isn’t really helpful, but man is it hard to assign him one when he’s so unique. Nagito and Hajime are different sides of the same coin, and I don’t think Nagito’s selfless love, “envy,” or “admiration,” fits into any of the boxes that are provided. The end result feels like he doesn’t fit any of them, but the goal here is to assign him at least one of them right? So I guess Sloth in this situation is the best option, supposedly reflecting specific aspects of him and how he basically never does anything self serving. I mean, at the end of the day I’d like to have slightly understandable over blatant mischaracterization LMAO. So yeah, I think I would agree with Sloth over the others.
Thank you for your ask, this was so interesting to think about!! It made me so happy to read how thoroughly you thought about this, and how much you understand his character <3

Also reading the lore, Anubis was created to be in charge of ecological balance. With ALL the crap ow's humanity was doing, it can be inferred Anubis was forced to sacrifice entire species for humanity's survival. When humanity kept squandering healthy change, Anubis did what it was programmed to do: keep earth's ecological systems in balance. The biggest threat WAS humanity. Declassified stated after yet another round of global conservation talks that went no where, Anubis' monitoring team was taken out by limiting the air vents. (<We don't know what caused the ventilation shut down to occur. Could have been Anubis, could have been an outside actor aiming to sabotage Anubis.)
Then Anubis went 'rogue'
^ But I don't think Anubis went "rogue" -- Anubis was doing exactly what it was programmed to do. Balance the ecological systems of earth. And if there was any non human species causing a mass extinction event like humanity was doing, anubis would prune it. Logically, it HAD to have pruned species before.
Bc of what Anubis did, it implies ow humanity was statistically likely to end up killing earth, so Anubis determined it was worth the risk of causing some eco damage vs complete eco destruction if humanity kept it's course.
But Anubis lost, and now earth is severely damaged PLUS it doesn't have a god ai to oversee the entire systems PLUS the ecopoints have become more and more disjointed, with unsettling new weather anomalies and seemingly energy spikes out if no where (it's confirmed anubis had created secret omniums like in the east China sea, so I guess that there are more secret omniums, one could be in antarctica to match the unsual readings Mei discussed in the PVE codex.)
All this to say, by technicalities... #AnubisWasRight lmafo. Yet ow portrays Anubis as 'rogue' but like. Humanity made a stupidly designed tool, and was punished for hubris.
But then we look at how Ramattra disagrees with Anubis. And I find that really fascinating. We know it's in part of Ramattra disagreeing with how Anubis sent omnics to thier demise, but that's hindsight for the Awakening. So what could it be? ...I genuinely think Ramattra disagrees with the purposeful extinction of humanity. Ramattra is fighting humanity, yes, but only for omnic liberation from humanity's oppression.
I think his view is that trusting humanity as a species is dangerous bc humanity is not a hivemind like omnics can be. Humans cannot unilaterally organize, which causes violence and no assured generational safety. And omnics NEED assured safety throughout the generations bc if one human generation grants omnics liberation, only for the 3rd human generation to deny it again? Omnics are FINITE. They can't afford humanity's wishy washy organization when it comes to omnic's right to exist. Ramattra admires ant colonies: an ant colony is a super organism. He admires the things they build together, and how they cooperate when threatened.
I think this is why Ramattra is fine with individual "helpful humans" but not humanity as a whole bc humanity isn't a superorganism. I'm not sure where OW is going with Ramattra, but having Ramattra default like Bastion did with Anubis coding, and become the very thing Ram was terrified of becoming is a really wild take, doomed by the narrative fr. Narratively it's nature vs nurture question but uh... omnics are not organic? Omnics are so ingrained to 'nature'(omnic coding and anubis coding) it can be hard to seperate thier nature even with Aurora's gift of free will. So imo it becomes awkward to portray a "nature vs nurture" question with omnics, bc it implies nature(omnic: coding. organic: genetics) is the true influence. Bastion only became "safe" after Torb removed Bastion's anubis coding. So. Erm.
All this to say, well. Depending on what subjugator helmets do (we know removing a helmet incorrectly causes the subjugated omnic to die :( but what does it do exactly? It's SO ODD that Null Sector targets omnics, but then leaves the subjugated bodies lying around? I really hope it's not actually memory wiping or making omnics brain dead...) Ramattra might ALSO be technically a #RamattraWasRight.
If Ramattra is aiming to preserve as many conciousness of omnics as possible with the helmets, or possibly trying to create a new awakening to solve the finite generation issue. Well. Can you blame him? He will fight for omnic's right to exist, and doesn't aim to cause the extinction of humanity, but IF humanity does go extinct, well. Anubis technically deemed ow humanity on track with destroying all of earth. I think that's Ramattra's logic?
Sorry for rambles, and NO I DO NOT THINK HUMANITY SHOULD GO EXTINCT IN OVERWATCH LOL. But if u could save all life on earth if u prune one species, I think it's logical for robots in ow to choose to sacrifice one species to save earth's future LOL. And I think Ramattra is fully in his rights to defend omnics from extinction with violence because omnics cannot reproduce and ARE facing violence. Ramattra can either sit back and watch omnics go extinct, or step up and fight for survival (ow writes Ram as hasty and unprepared which.... imo is too human/ooc but ig that creates conflict but also like. Wtf he is litterally a commander robot why would he be incompetently hasty).

Random HC:
The first years (+Ortho) playing DnD in Ramshackle Dorm
Yuu/MC is DMing of course
Player characters (I won't go too deep into their character details tho)
I feel like Ace'd be a Human Rogue, it kinda fits his personality imo. I personally don't see him as someone who uses brute force or blast magic, so Rogue it is. Specifically, I feel like he'd be an arcane trickster.
Deuce's character would be a Monk 100%. As for the race I can sorta see him being a Tiefling. Now you might be asking, "why a Monk and not a Barbarian?", While I do acknowledge his tendency to go apeshit at times, he actively tries to grow and change from his past habits. Perhaps his character could be an ex-barbarian who is training hard to be a Monk (multiclass)?
Jack's character'd be a Goliath Fighter, the only justification I have for this is that I feel like the competitive nature of a Goliath and their desire to push beyond new limits fits him like a glove, also the fighter class suits him just fine imo.
Given his background, I feel like Epel would be a Druid (they're basically magic farmers/gardeners). However, he'd give his character cantrips like Poison Spray, various spells but no healing spells (yea this party is pretty much fucked). You can fight me on this but post-character arc Epel would be a Halfling, he'd use his size as an advantage in combat.
As for Sebek, I can't see him being anything other than a Paladin. He'd most likely be an Aasimar... or maybe a half-elf? No? Too on the nose? Anyways, he'd give his character enchantment spells, and maybe some healing spells like Cure Wounds.
Ortho is the party's main support, with him being a tiny fairy bard (now you see why I had to bring Ortho in this otherwise the party won't even survive the winter). He's just a little lad who loves berries and cream :). He also provides bgm and sfx for the campaign.
I'm sorry but I have very little to no faith for this party. But I'm sure they'll somehow survive.
Together, the fate of the world somehow lies in the hands of these murder hobos.
Random shenanigans
Ace attempting to steal a treasure/sacred item from a monster's lair, only to miserably fail a stealth roll. Everyone had to haul ass out of there.
Deuce getting emotionally attached to an Npc with tragic backstories and/or noble goal, and then stubbornly tried to save that npc and getting upset at the DM for killing them.
something tragic happens and someone just says "this is so sad, Ortho play the acoustic rendition of Piece of My World"
Ace, to every barmaid bc he's broke: "hey (with rizz)" *rolls a Nat 1 Charisma*
With how hotheaded the NRC kids are it's only a matter of time until an npc taunted or look at them the wrong way and they'd be like "oh that's it, now you're gonna get it! I ROLL FOR INITIATIVE!" completely unprompted (like in the second half of the Halloween event bc I still find it insane how everyone immediately resorts to violence, even some of the more levelheaded students).
The one time Ortho and/or Sebek can't make it to a session, Jack gets knocked out by an enemy and the gang tried to heal him. Ace: "ok but can we try slapping him awake?" Deuce:"oh that's a good idea! Can we, Yuu/MC?" Yuu/MC:"...roll me a strength check" (they forgot that they have a healing potion)
The DM sitting there horrified while watching the party using the "power of friendship" on an NPC
I feel like half of them would brute force puzzles in a dungeon and it works like one out of three times or something.
"why do I hear boss music?"
Yuu, the DM, puts their hands together in front of them, a strange smile plastered on their face as they calmly said; "everyone, I want you to roll for initiative 🙂"

2024 Media Thread: 157. Dokidoki! PreCure (2013) - 10/10★ You KNOW the yap is going to be long for this one (under the cut as per <3)
It's hard not to write something that will literally reach the character limit but I'll try! This season had such a strong plot all the way through, pretty much every episode was relevant to the overarching plot and felt like it was reaching towards the goal of the resolution. Don't get me wrong I LOVE precure seasons that have a lot of episodic shenanigans going on but this felt so fleshed out and realised and I really appreciated it. I do think it stumbled a little in the middle but it all paid off in the end. Also, it kept me guessing all the way through I couldn't help but be invested, it was genuinely so engaging to watch imo. The villain concept being selfishness was really interesting. Of course many times the "selfish thoughts" people had were very minor but once again this is aimed at children so I can forgive it. I think the villain trio were fun enough but Regina definitely stole the show. All in all, despite my issues here and there with the season it felt so strong to me I couldn't bring myself to give it any less than full marks! Speaking of, it's time to talk about characters and more that include spoilers so stop reading now if you don't want to see them!! I thought the characters were fairly strong but I do have some problems. For one I think Alice wasn't fleshed out enough. I feel like, at least imo, yellow cures have this issue because they share some common traits with the pink cures that tend to be the leads. I liked her but I feel like my opinion on her didn't really shift through the majority of the season which is really sad. Secondly, I feel like Aguri had a really strong arc and was an interesting character and I did enjoy what they did with her and Regina but because I thought Regina would be the red cure and I was excited about it (Regina is my fave of the season) I couldn't really connect to Aguri at all ): Third of all I really don't love Aguri aging up as Cure Ace?? The explanation felt so flimsy and it just felt strange to me? One thing I will say though is I really enjoyed that Ida had positive traits by the end but didn't change from being a villain, idk it just felt really refreshing to me bc we all know precure LOVES a redeemable villain. Also, Regina's relationship with her dad is such a good rep of abusive parental relationships even if that wasn't the goal? idk I love her so much though. Fave eps: 14, 16, 17, 19-22, 25-27, 30, 31, 39, 40, 42-49 Fave character: Regina (Cure Diamond for the actual cures though!)

What do you think is the cut off age for immortal children? Bc Jane and Alec are like, 12, and theyre under control, but you can argue they get some leeway bc they're Aro's favorites... I just think a vampire child that's old enough to control themselves would probably be the closest Rosalie could get to adopting a child without fear of it dying, even if they also would never grow up. Someone out there could probably write something interesting about it. Bree was 15, wasnt she? I wonder what wouldve happened if the Volturi had let her live.
I'd say that 12/13 has to be the lower limit? I can't imagine anyone getting away with an immortal child much younger than that. Sure, you can teach 10-year-olds, 8-year-olds, etc, but they are still young enough that higher reasoning doesn't always work. Most people wouldn't leave them by themselves at that age. When I was 12/13 that's when I was able to enroll in a babysitting course and people would let me watch their kids; that seems like a decent litmus test for a kid that is 'old enough' to not be an immortal child.
But there's probably some wiggle room. I'm sure there are very responsible and mature 11-year-olds out there, and 14-year-olds you wouldn't let water your plants over a weekend let alone watch your children.
Jane and Alec are right on that line, IMO. And if someone other than Aro had created them, he very well might have used "oh no, immortal children" as an excuse to go after their creator and then 'mercifully' adopted the immortal children and 'trained' them, or whatever.
Bree is 15/16 and Benjamin is also 15; I think they are the youngest vampires after Jane and Alec. I don't know that Rosalie would be satisfied adopting a child that old, though, even if it's her only option, being that she's only 18 herself. My pet theory is that after the vampire world finds out about Renesmee there might be hybrid baby boom. But without the support Bella had, the human mothers probably aren't all going to make it and some of the vampire dads have second thoughts and Rosalie might get to adopt and raise a hybrid someday.
#asks#honestly the whole hybrid thing gets REALLY dark REALLY fast#like look at Joham and the way he uses and discards the mothers#the idea that they are going to be happy vampire families seems really farfetched to me#they conceive of humans as cattle as food#they're not going to be super fussed about informed consent and prenatal care

so I've been rewatching grey's anatomy (had to pause 3.19 to write up this rant lol) and omggggggggg I hate izzie so much. so much!!!! she literally is the reason denny died bc she cut his lvad wire when he was stable - yes, he had limited time bc his heart condition, but he was stable - and cutting the lvad wire very nearly killed him. like if the surgery didn't happen when it did, he'd have died. she would have undeniably, directly killed him. and her "falling in love" with him in the first place was so fucking stupid bc she knew him for like, what, 6 months at the longest? and he's like... sexually harrassing her, but she finds it cute ig???? like their flirtation really is so fucking stupid and uncomfortable and - the same as practically every other relationship on this show - it moves so fucking fast that it's just not believable that they're in love. but whatever izzie should have been sued and kicked out for this but of course she isn't bc the writers wanted the core 5. and then when callie enters the picture, izzie is so fucking rude to her for literally no fucking reason. like callie can just be standing there and izzie will unprompted make a snide comment. george tells izzie to cut it out and she still fucking continues being an asshole. bc callie was right. izzie does want george - maybe not romantically or sexually given I rmbr their attempts at dating falling apart really fast and imo the writing (so far anyway) makes it clear that an alex/izzie endgame was the intention, but she clearly wants all of george's attention. and it pisses me off how good of a friend george has always been to izzie, like he really is so loyal, and he's always there for her when she needs him and then izzie never fucking reciprocates bc - like george even said when he was venting to callie - izzie is just so damn self-absorbed. and then he starts avoiding izzie for being such a dick to callie bc he's trying to prioritize callie over his friends now and izzie STILL won't stop!!!! and then george and callie have their fight about izzie and he goes to izzie to vent and tell her that she needs to be nice to callie and they get drunk and have sex and george doesn't remember because he got super drunk and izzie is like fucking offended that he doesn't remember????? he got blackout drunk, he's still emotionally vulnerable bc his dad died, and now izzie is trying to convince him that their drunk sex meant something???? and probably bc alex is trying to move on when she said she wasn't ready for anything. this bitch should've died in the s5 finale. truly one of the worst characters of all time. I hate her so viscerally.

Top 10 Favorite Final Seasons of a TV Show
For @loisfreakinglane's enjoyment.
...This was actually so hard. I'm limiting myself to TV shows with multiple seasons that have officially for-real ended, as well as to final seasons that I've watched in full (so there are some seasons of shows I watch that maybe should make the cut that won't because I haven't gotten around to them yet). In the order that I thought of them:
Breaking Bad Season 5: A really strong & exciting final season with some great new characters (Lydia Rodarte-Quayle I love you Lydia Rodarte-Quayle!!!) and some of the show's best episodes.
Once Upon a Time Season 7: My favorite season of the show, and one that weirdly addressed a lot of the problems I had with the first six seasons. The new characters were great and they did some cool & unexpected things with the old characters. Hardly perfect, and it somehow made the show's already-convoluted timeline worse, but it was a very strong note to end the show on & it helped me look on the show as a whole in a much fonder light, which was no small feat after some of the bullshit the show had previously pulled.
Amphibia Season 3: A great final season. I loved seeing the Boonchuys on Earth in 3A, and I loved the story arc of Anne & Sasha co-commanding the resistance in 3B. IMO a lot of the complaints about this season come from people who didn't really understand what the show was about. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Steven Universe Future/Steven Universe Season 5: I kind of consider Future to be the proper 'final season' of Steven Universe and not its own show, but I know some people disagree and consider it a separate limited series and would say that Season 5 is the real final season of the show. Either way, both seasons are quite good. I think Future is consistently stronger -- Season 5 has a stretch of 6 or so episodes that are kind of weak -- but Season 5 has higher highs. But again, both are very good final seasons, whichever one you consider to be the 'true' final season.
Person of Interest Season 5: Honestly, this is not the best final season -- I think being limited to 13 episodes really hamstrung the writers, and not all the episodes are good -- but it does end on a really strong note, and also I ran out of final seasons I consider legitimately great, so, uh, good for you PoI, you arguably don't deserve to be here but you're here anyway!
Better Call Saul Season 6: I'm not gonna lie, I had problems with the way 6B unfolded -- I thought the pacing wasn't the best and some of the character/plot beats didn't quite land -- but both 6A and the finale were very strong, and I'm not opposed to most of the events of 6B in theory. Plus, BCS is just well-made TV in general, so even when I didn't love it, I was still appreciative of the artistry that went into the show.
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 9: I remember really liking the first half of this season and thinking it was some of the best stuff the show had put out in years. The second half was more par for the course but not bad. The actual season-long plot was pretty whatever but it produced some good episodes, and Daniel Ingram, as always, delivered with the music.
Battlestar Galactica Season 4: Look, anyone who's taken a cursory glance at my BSG tag knows how I feel about what BSG S3 & 4 did to Boomer, and S4 additionally committed the sin of killing off Anastasia Dualla, but I don't actually think S4 is overall a bad season. I think it could've been better, sure, but I honestly was fine with it aside from the stuff I hated. Lol. Also, Kara Thrace turns into a pigeon, and that's hilarious.
Infinity Train Season 4: Technically this is a better season of television than some of the seasons listed above, but it was not intended as a final season and you can tell; nothing about it makes for a particularly effective ending to the show. I will forever mourn the remaining 4 planned seasons of this show that we never got. But, hey, it's still a good season, even though it's probably the show's weakest outing.
...Revolutionary Girl Utena's Apocalypse Arc: LOOK I KNOW IT'S NOT A "SEASON" I RAN OUT OF FINAL SEASONS I LIKE OKAY. It's better than pretty much everything else on this list though because it's RGU, how could it not be.
Tagging @jioinfocommlimited, @02511213942, @occidentaltourist, @cassphos, @nocticola, and anyone else who wants to tackle this challenge. Be warned, it's harder than it looks!!!
#i think only the first 4 on this list actually deserve to be on here but i wanted to push myself to reach 10 so here we are!#with only minimal cheating!

re: chirlies rejoicing that pgasly said c2 aren't friends, the chirlies are rejoicing bc, well a fair amount hate carlos for various reasons but it's a combination of (1) bc the ferrari civil war is ongoing (2) the way ferrari has pushed c2 content to paper over their own shortcomings (3) chirlies being accused of being fake tifosi bc they don't like carlos and they should support both drivers, (4) adding to the prev point, c2 fans will often point to how c2 are friends and like each other as to why they should both stay at ferrari and chirlies should stop hating on carlos (vs how the chirlies want carlos out after 2024)
imo, i think chirlies are just on edge bc charles' contract hasn't been renewed yet and carlos is allegedly pushing for a 2 yr deal. personally, i don't hate carlos, he's just kinda there but 2022 & 2023 has kinda shown the limits of the partnership bc they just want different things from the car so i think it's better for everyone to turn the page come the end of 2024 for c2
fascinating ok before i give u my understanding of what was said here and which wud prolly turn a 1950's lancia engineer to dust like the sentence 'chirlies are just on edge bc charles contract hasnt been renewed yet' alone has been radiating thru my skull like a concussion for like 20 mins
I'm starting to c that a lot of sharl fans are very threatened by carlos and his influence on the team and again, from what ur telling me, the fact that he wants different things from the car than sharl is a problem and so .. basically .. for sharl to win a championship, which as a fan thats what u wanna c happen, carlos needs to go. Like thats where the animosity comes from, right, that Carlos is an obstacle to sharl's success or whatvr. If that is it, in my opinion not only ur overestimating Carlos, ur underestimating sharl and by a gross amount, btw. IF bald man is telling the truth and the car is gonna be sharper, better suited to oversteer, ((faster)) and they're working on their strategy, and the pit wall and stuff and actually becoming a title contending team, dont u think this hierarchy of 1st and 2nd driver will be forced on carlos whether he likes it or not? Because its kind of inevitable, and it'll be up to him and his management to fit into that role, not the other way around. Sergio Perez and his dad earlier this year were floating prost and senna conversations. And we know what happened, and of course it happened. We know there was never a point where Max was slower than Checo, just like sharl has never been slower than Carlos. So if theres gonna be a car, in these current regulations, capable of winning the title, sharl will be the one who has better pace wid it. Because hes just faster, his setups are faster, he knows how to extract more from the same car. Carlos winning in Silverstone, Singapore, is literally him doing his job, scraping the success he can out of a messy, unfocused, somehow well positioned Ferrari team, wid the tools he's given at the time, just like any other ((self respecting)) driver wud btw. Bro if Carlos ever thought he cud be a 'first driver' is because Ferrari let him, and I refuse to blame him for that. Not even 'blame' like hes doing his fucking job hes a competitor. When teams are strong the roles drivers play become better defined and they either put up or shut up. I cant even envision a Ferrari where sharl has some type of dominant machinery to work wid and Carlos is still a threat in any way lmfao
'the way ferrari has pushed c2 content to paper over their own shortcomings' totally get that, like thats been their literal marketing strategy for years and personally I dont like it either I think its unserious especially for a brand like ferrari to appeal to ((mostly female)) new audiences just thru the like parasocial angle of hey do u wanna fuck our drivers cool heres them doing charades and almost kissing like ur literally one of the most established most recognizable brands in the world moving like HYBE. ok.
'chirlies being accused of being fake tifosi bc they don't like carlos and they should support both drivers' bro I find carlos whole dynamic wid ferrari and tifosi and like that whole establishment so interesting and kinda brutal when u think about how hes paired up wid il predestinato whose like suffering and unfairness in this world is literally part of his brand and puts him and his fans on the defensive against everybody else. Like Sainz fans just gotta learn to pick their battles bro. Carlos is doing a job at Ferrari, the other guy is fulfilling a prophecy lmfao.
'c2 fans will often point to how c2 are friends and like each other as to why they should both stay at ferrari and chirlies should stop hating on carlos' I .. are c2 fans all 12 years old idk what else to say about this. Its gullible and seems like those people dont know exactly what they're engaging wid but thats not their fault again its how the sports being marketed
In conclusion sharl definitely gonna re/sign and prolly for a fucking insane amount of money because like carlos is not even top 5 of shit Ferrari needs to address so they can win a championship and they know first order of business is to make sharl happy and keep him extremely employed. Its looking like sharl will get a 3+2 and tbh like I said before, its up to carlos and his management to try and make the best out of a situation where the car is moving away from his comfort zone. A bottas like contract wud be an insult to the Sainz family but idk if they got much of a choice and it'll be interesting to c what happens. Im also thinking like if carlos does leave who wud replace him and why wud they for sure be a better fit than he is
#ask#long post#ty for taking the time to explain this#also other asks who said similar things#'chirlies are on edge' idk why is the funniest thing I've ever read in my entire#life#CHIRLIES ARE ON EDGE ‼️#defcon level chirlie

All of your Mitch rants and raves are spot on, and it's very comforting to see another person who is just SO tired of all these narratives. Please indulge my two-cents for a moment:
Mitch has said he wants to stay in Toronto. The deal for him to waive his NMC at this point would have to be like...the best deal in all NHL history. He isn't some single, 19-year-old kid anymore who is just starting out; he's firmly established in his career in Toronto, and has his entire family/wife/friends there.
While I do think his next contract ask will be in the ballpark of what Auston and Willy are making (as it should be, he's worth the same amount, imo), I also don't think Mitch is super unreasonable. If the Leafs came back to him and said "we really want you to stay, but we can only give you $10m, I really feel like Mitch would take it, as long as it's a decent length and all the details are reasonable, etc.
All the discourse about his last contract was very much his father's influence, which he won't be dealing with this time around. He was also dealing with Babcock as a coach, so of course he wanted to get his money's worth!
I don't think he would settle for a super lowball offer if he knew he could make substantially more on another team, but he's also not a diva who won't get out of bed for less than $10000 a day, y'know?
Sorry for ranting in your inbox, lol.
no, i'm happy to have people to talk with about it!! feels like no matter how much i say, i never get tired bc i'm just soooo tired of the fanbase's narratives getting in the way of actual facts and of fans inability to sort through what media personalities are pitching as an OPTION and what's like. actually happening behind the scenes right at this moment. like no legitimate insiders are giving actual information, and if anything, i think this go around might be more tight lipped BECAUSE of what happened last time. auston and willy extensions were kept pretty under wraps tbh, the leafs know discretion.
i mean. i'm gonna be real, but 10 million would be lowballing him and he SHOULD get between willy and auston and that's not even a real problem imo. if 2 million makes or breaks a team with the cap space free from the jt deal, they're being very unserious and brad's bad at his job. they're the ones who set the precedent this time around with willy by giving into everything. it's legit not my job or any of our jobs to cap manage despite how much we all love to pretend we could build a perfect team, but he's probably not going to take a considerable discount and i don't see why people think he should, lol. HE'S had career years too over the course of this last contract, ones that surpassed someone who is now getting paid more than him. i'm obviously not mitch, so idk what he'd do in that scenario, but i can say it's HIGHLY unlikely he's taking any pay cut in his prime (literally no hockey players do). i really don't think he should be expected to despite this insane fanbase's reaction to his salary and i'm sure the leafs aren't going to approach him like that tbh. it'd be weird business. they might try to get him for a willy number which would honestly be a discount for him, so lol. i think it's less to do with being a diva and more knowing how much you're worth and your comparables in the league (and on your team) and the team you're with knowing what's fair. and that's why i think people are wrong about the leafs mindset in general. i don't think they WANT to get rid of him, lol. i think they're going to look at the market (as they do every year and have done every year since the core was assembled bc it's their JOB to do that) and see what's there, but the options are even more limited now with the nmc. i don't see it a given that the team will be like. oop we can't afford you now. i think they'll pay him and he'll get a raise, lol.
my best guess is EITHER mitch signs a longterm deal with full nmc at 12-12.5 OR he takes slightly closer to willy's deal for a shorter term to try to maximize his earnings and match what auston's doing in that way. i don't know his mindset about it all and wanting security in toronto over all or wanting to maximize the money, but we will SEE. i just hope everything is more lowkey this time around for my own sanity 😭😭😭😭 bc it's already out of control WITHOUT the team and mitch even talking yet.
#easks#truly.....#ik everyone wants him to take some discount or paycut bc they consider him overpaid but. like.#his numbers in 22-23 were better than willys in 23-24 and u want him to ? not only not make 11.5 but.#take a CUT from what he makes now? thats just not how businesses operate lol esp w a rising cap#mitch isnt in some desperate position. (tho EYE am). teams will want him and he has a lot to consider#the team should be desperate to keep HIM lol. just bc the fanbases viewpoint is the opposite way bc theyve made him the scapegoat#doesnt make it fact#idk. makes no sense to me.#the team wants talent and they dont want to lose a trade and thats THAT HONESTLYYY.....

(I have returned, with some dom!Nami headcanons. She's the definition of a switch imo, so I'm working on some sub ones, too. Sharing bc I hope you'll appreciate the smutty brainrot lmao)
As a dom, she loves teasing you to within an inch of your life and ruining your orgasms.
She’ll keep you on edge for hours or even days. If you beg her to fuck you, you’ll have to wait longer. She loves watching you fight to keep your composure even when you’re just one touch way from cumming your brains out.
When she’s ready to fuck you, she’ll make you crawl across the room to her and stay on your knees until she gives you permission to stand up. The head rush/power trip she gets from it is unreal.
Will tie you to the bed, blindfold you, and tease you with light kisses, touches, and licks. She’ll even leave for a while sometimes, so you just have to wait and ache and hope no one comes looking for you. You never know when she’s there when you’re blindfolded because of how silently she moves (being a cat burglar has its perks).
Rides your face. Obviously.
She also loves to test your limits when it comes to the size of toys you can fit inside of you. Brushing your sweaty hair back from your forehead, not breaking eye contact as she works a thick dildo inside of you. Telling you to be good for your mistress, to let her use you, and maybe she’ll let you cum.
VERY possessive. She’ll punish you for looking at other members of the crew, making you repeat over and over that you belong to her. That she’s your mistress and she owns you.
One of her favorite things to do after she’s gone down on you is to make you stick out your tongue so she can spit saliva and cum into your mouth. You have to thank her after, of course. That’s the polite thing to do.
I ate this up like Sunday dinner oml
I fucking love Nami sm 😫

on my knees gripping my head hnngggg i thought abt bellumbeck too hard
tag ramblings are fun and on brand but i have too many disorganized thoughts and tags are limiting.
anyways thinking too hard abt him is an extremely good and fun thing but i cannot draw the way i wish and can't really put my thoughts into fic form so this is very much going to be a fun ramble.
bellumbeck drives me insane we all know this. he showed up in my dream last night as of writing this sentence so he is on my mind, which is surprising bc fictional stuff doesn't usually show up coherently in my dreams but there it was.
it's so incredibly fun to think about bellumbeck. he's such a black sheep of a loz final boss, there really isnt another loz final boss like him in concept or even in 1:1 tone imo. it's so fun to take bellumbeck incredibly darkly seriously.
to be fair bellumbeck is kind of objectively a fairly dark and disturbing final boss on a conceptual level, and it's not really out of nowhere since phantom hourglass has at least a little darkness running through it even if the general tone of the game doesn't really acknowledge or take advantage of it. but if you think about it hard enough even without getting into post-game speculation in regards to what happens with linebeck, bellumbeck is kind of a dark boss and it's great. full on screen demonic possession of a major character with most of the cast incapacitated and link isolated with no escape on the ruins of the ghost ship that started everything and facing a boss that is constantly facing him and both someone he's been with the whole adventure and also the creature that's captured his friends and killed who knows how many people.
it's so oooouuuugghhhh it's so much fun to think about bellumbeck even though it's such a short encounter. it's so... the mystery around bellum, the way linebeck is built up throughout the game and saves link directly before getting possessed, the fucking on-screen vaguely violent possession (i am forever obsessed with the way bellum grabs and tugs on his arms), the way ciela is captured early into the fight, too, the first companion character you meet and, if you had her equipped, it leaves you without a fairy that follows your cursor around for the first time all game, it's very... congrats you and your friends are at rock bottom! good luck getting everyone out of there alive!!!!
of course it's not quite that because this game is geared a bit more towards younger players, but still keeps those streaks of darkness and complexity just simply because they're inevitable parts of this story and it's characters. bellumbeck. i'm talking about bellumbeck. what a soulsborne-ass final boss, huh?
there's only so much a ds game can do in terms of boss animations, but i think a lot about more complicated movements and animations for bellumbeck, so, so much character can be communicated through a boss's animations. in my mind, i enjoy bellumbeck movements with an emphasis on puppet-like flourishes and mannerisms, and an emphasis on weight with how he fights. these two go very well together, and its something i love imagining.
with the latter, an emphasis on weight, would ideally focus on the sword (and im a fan of it being this huge greatsword, reading berserk got me around to liking it because you can do that really well) and how it has to be used one-handed, with bellumbeck leveraging his own weight against it and taking advantage of momentum to use it especially effectively to turn link into a little green and red smear on the wood. attacks blending into each other as he builds up momentum, and using that weight primarily against link, who is a small opponent who relies on rolling around and can’t really stack up at all in terms of brute force.
i imagine this kind of physicality and movement would lend itself very well to bellumbeck also having more puppet-like movements, being a little too tugged-along by his attacks but still retaining his footing, his free arm being just a little too limp a little too often, and his leaning away from his sword side, likely with the intention to properly balance himself out, looks off with how his head lolls unnaturally to that side. the puppetry effect lessens as the fight wears on and bellum gets the hang of the body he’s using, but never actually goes away since he’s not looking to act properly human anyways.
just like... movement flourishes and details that could add a whole lot to the overall experience of bellumbeck that i think about often.
#bellumbeck#loz#legend of zelda#phantom hourglass#salty talks#do you see my vision. do you understand what im getting at here. i need bellumbeck to be a bit scarier#this is. EXTREMELY inspired by my recent elden ring kick. bellumbeck would fit in really well as a soulsborne boss#removing the fact that he only takes damage from one spot. i think you could really easily translate the bellumbeck boss into soulsborne#a few zelda bosses would work really well with soulsborne combat and another one is ww ganondorf#i dont think abt it often but i do love what game animations can convey and i think its like. the way elden ring works has me more#carefully watching game animations bc if i dont learn to recognize them then i die yknow#idk if ill tag linebeck or bellum but maybe not bc this is mostly just a bellumbeck post#technically in a sense theyre both tagged. whatever#‘bellumbeck’s design is a little off/silly’ cool heres how you lean into it. also read berserk. dont read berserk actually#find something else about a guy with a huge sword being taken seriously

🥝🍐🍈 for the ask game! <33
HIII JACKS SORRY FOR THE LATENESS, I WROTE MY ANSWERS OUT, LOST THEM TO A TUMBLR GLITCH, WROTE THEM ALL OUT AGAIN, AND THEN MY WIFI WENT DOWN FOR MULTIPLE DAYS SO I COULDN'T ACTUALLY PUBLISH THIS ASK UNTIL I HAD A DAY OFF TO GET MY HOTSPOT WORKING... THIS ANSWER HAS JUST BEEN OPEN IN FIREFOX STARING ME DOWN UNABLE TO BE PUBLISHED BC IT WAS ON MY LAPTOP AND NOT MY PHONE HSLJSDFHLFDKSHJ.... THANKS FOR THE ASK EVEN THOUGH GOD CONSPIRED AGAINST ME ANSWERING IT, ENJOY
🥝 What’s your favorite trope/AO3 tag to write?
Last time I did this ask game, I went with a cop-out answer and said angst, but that's really more a genre than a trope imo, and as an AO3 tag it's verrrry broad. The funny thing is that, since I'm not letting myself say angst, I think I'm instead going to have to say Time Travel, which is very funny because I haven't posted very much time travel, lmao. The reason for that, though, is that every time I start a fic which involves time travel, it spirals massively out of control and ends up becoming such a large project that I never finish enough of it to post... 😭 But god I just love time travel so much, it's so juicy, there's such wide potential for both angst and comfort, fixing things and making them worse. Someday one of the many time travel fics rotting away on my computer will come to fruition... I swear it...
🍐 Is there anything in canon that you absolutely hate and love to fix in fics? A wrong choice made, a fuck-up in characterization, a misunderstanding never cleared up, a conversation never shown onscreen, etc…
Oof. Uh. Yeah... 😅 There's usually at least one of these in every fandom I get really into, and depending on what it is, I go back and forth on whether I subscribe to the "canon isn't real it can't hurt me" philosophy, where I just pretend it never happened, or the "canon is real but I came with a hammer" philosophy, where I acknowledge the event as canon but then explore whatever the problems are with it in my writing. Sometimes it just depends on the tone of the fic, too, haha. As a good example of this, I love Kanji from Persona 4, and depending on the fic, I'll either choose to explore the way he continues to reject his sexuality and the homophobia he suffers from the rest of the cast..... orrrr I'll just quietly sweep canon under the rug and write both him and the rest of the cast the way I think they should've been written to begin with. (I do the same with Naoto, lmao, he's my special little trans man)
🍈 Who’s your blorbo and what are some of your favorite headcanons/ideas about them that repeatedly show up in your fics? Free pass to rant about blorbo opinions.
I've ranted at GREAT length about my Minato headcanons before, so I'll just pick one I haven't really focused as much on which I've been thinking about more while playing Reload. My god Minato is so autistic and I love him so much. I basically always write him as having an extremely limited understanding of social cues, and, in an effort to make up for this, he kind of just defaults to being a passive yes-man since that's what's gotten him the least negative results in the past. This is how I understand him through the lens of his most criticized social links (such as Kenji, Kazushi, and Hidetoshi) where the "correct" answers tend to be just agreeing with people and letting them do as they please. The way I see it, he's just... so tired of trying to interact with people earnestly only to be misunderstood and accused of being an asshole just because he can't pick up on the silly little social dance that everyone expects him to know instinctively. It's only as he experiences his character development over the course of the year that he begins to hit his stride as a leader and therefore learns to step outside of his comfort zone a little and speak up for himself with the understanding that he might still be misunderstood sometimes and that's something he's willing to risk.

i've been thinking abt the gang's ages as of frontiers and especially sonic and how he kind of feels older in frontiers. i think that's been the general course since like colors or something when we got new VAs and writers but imo it kind of culminates in how he acts in frontiers y'know?
like sure part of it is bc sega removed roger from his limiters but also there's this contrast between how sonic acts now and how he acted especially in the adventure era. like adventure/heroes/shth sonic felt much more sincerely carefree and reckless, like a kid freshly turned 15 who didn't really have a scope of what the world could be like and the magnitude of the kind of stuff he was up against. he had had fantastical adventures in the genesis era sure but i think his approach to them bordered on not taking them as the serious occasions they were bc he was so young at the time, and it was just eggman and his robots. then we moved on to ancient deities and eldritch horrors and the tone is permanently altered.
and there's death now, and it personally affects him. maybe he didn't get to know shadow as deeply as rouge and even eggman, but they had an association forced upon them and they wound up fighting against each other and then together as one. maybe it's subtle but i think it does change sonic at the very end of last story, like some of that carefree attitude died that day. maybe his enthusiasm in heroes and shth is compensating for a part of him that he lost on the ARK.
06 has him experience another loss with elise, even if it could be fixed with time travel, but he had grown to really care about her. im not gonna go into the specifics of their relationship bc i have my own interpretations on it that aren't relevant but like that shit has to hurt, even if just a moment. it hammers in that there ARE stakes and they haven't gone anywhere, and just because one person had a miracle survival it doesn't mean sonic is guaranteed a happy ending. it's not that he loses hope or anything, but i'd imagine there is a voice at the back of his head that remembers it and forces him to keep up an appearance harder than before. and it's exactly what he does for the better half of unleashed. because he's a monster now! and maybe that monster thrives with the weight of the past. dark gaia is all about negative energy, and while it's a necessary part of life it can't be an easy burden to bear on the nightly. would sonic have to fight back those feelings harder than before? i doubt he would feel like he deserves to be that way, when he's supposed to keep his friends safe and save the world, because he's the only one who can.
i can't say i remember enough about satbk to fully take it into count here, but by then i think sonic would've been able to rediscover some of the hope that may have eroded. he would be in a better place post-unleashed, having faced parts of him that he had ignored before, and built himself more into the kind of person he'd like to be; free, maybe a little impulsive, but who ultimately follows their own sense of justice. i don't think he would've ever been considered "lawful good" or anything like that, but maybe he was somewhere close to that when he was younger, subscribing to the idea of a cosmic and righteous good and inherent evil. but that had to change when he learned the world wasn't that simple.
im brushing over colors/gens/lost world/forces here a bit, the first three didn't feel of substance to me and if anything forces was a showcase of keeping up the appearances for the others. but frontiers feels like this culmination of everything so far, and we get to observe sonic in isolation for the first time in a while. most other serious events in the past have had him work together with his friends, but they're only sort of present now, and it makes parts of the curtain drop especially as the game goes on. sonic hides and downplays the corruption because he has to be the carefree and courageous guy he's always been, even if it's been a few years and he's growing up and changing as he does. and he's experienced despair time and time again, and it's hurt, so he forces himself to cling to hope with everything he has now, even when his whole body is overcome by corruption and eating him like a ravenous organic beast. he's grown to care for the people around him much more than he maybe used to, to cherish life as long as it lasts, but it's hard to be the same bright-eyed hero everyone knows you as when you've seen what death looks like. he wants it to go away but it'll always remain, and colors the curtains he puts up so his brother and sister and rival don't have to worry about him.
i keep thinking about the opening lines of sonic adventure and ryan drummond's voice saying goofy 90s flavored lines, and i keep thinking about roger craig smith delivering sonic's lines in frontiers in a tone subtly deeper and different from his previous performances
#soda offers you a can#lore drabbles#listen. maybe frontiers isn't the pinnacle of sonic gaming sure i wouldn't know bc i only like bad games#but i think this game is growing very important to me in multiple ways#sonic#long post#dear god i did not expect this to be such a lengthy drabble
