Where did Nanami go?

a small collection of events where the people around nanami wonder if he's been abducted by aliens where they switched his brain after seeing how different he is with you (but they love it and keep hoping to see more) fluff, nanami being the best boyfriend, fluff literally just typed this all in one go and did not edit. lol enjoy!

nanami is the 'i'm not reading all that, im happy for you or im sorry that happened' person to gojo. but you send one long long message to nanami and gojo glaces to nanami's phone and just sees his whole screen covered in one long blue bubble. he asks if you're ok or if he needs to step away to call you but all nanami says is no and starts reading the message. gojo sees nanami read a bit, then types a small reply, presses enter for the next line, reads some more, then another small reply, and repeat. is he replying to every single sentence in your message?!

gojo gets curious so he leans a bit closer to actually see the message. it was not an emergency... but your review and interpretation of the 2009 movie Mother?!

gojo leans back shocked. nanami would never reply to such long messages he'd send. if the message was longer than 4 lines, then nanami might never even reply to it. but he's carefully reading your message as if it was the latest report that would be the difference between life and death in the next fight. he's replying to every single point you're making and are those emojis?!

gojo is floored, truly baffled and entirely speechless.

gojo wonders, what movie can i watch that might interest nanami and get him to reply to me in a message longer than a sentence?

gojo and itadori walk out of the school with nanami. it's time for nanami to clock out but gojo and itadori are heading out to try a new restaurant that evening. nanami gets a call at 6:01pm while he's still walking with them and stays back a few steps to answer your call. nosy gojo perks up his ear to listen if nanami's voice changes when he answers your call. it's not too different but gojo swears it did change a bit as if there was a little smile on his face. there was.

you ask nanami if he'd like to join you for dinner at a restaurant after work and nanami just asks for the address and says he's on his way. he excuses himself from the guys and gojo wiggles his eyebrows as nanami says he's got somewhere to be. yuji continues to talk about the last movie he saw that he loved but megumi kept rolling his eyes at.

gojo and yuji get to the restaurant after their leisurely walk and see nanami - wait! nanami setting the table?! they're both shocked bc even though their steps were unhurried, it's not like they took a long time to get to the place. you walk into the restaurant and spot nanami wiping what would be your side of the table with his hand, wiping anything that might have been missed by the cleaning cloth.

"kento!" you smile and jog to the table. he looks up and smiles when he sees you, but the smile drops when he spots the open mouthed gojo and yuji you just passed by. you stop walking and turn to see who or what he's looking at.

gojo snaps out of it and goes to introduce himself to you before leading the group of three to the table that nanami is now standing next to. he had heard about you because he pestered nanami enough to tell him about your existence and your name, and that's really all gojo knew. he asks nanami how he got to the restaurant so quick and nanami blandly replies that you work nearby and he wanted to get there first aka he lightly jogged but gojo didn't need to know that.

nanami was kind of expecting it but it still surprised him a bit when you extend a courteous invitation to gojo and yuji if they'd like to join you both for dinner. what was not a surprise was that gojo immediately sat down. yuji hesitates a bit but you tell the young man to sit and assure it's ok. nanami sighs but decides to just roll with it and goes to slide out your chair so you can sit. gojo and yuji give a quiet 'ooooohh' to the action and nanami just shushes them and sits next to you.

nanami is stiff at first and you notice so you slide your hand to hold his under the table. gojo notices the action though and feels like giggling and kicking his feet for his friend. it still takes a while for nanami to relax a bit but he eventually slumps a bit in his seat and smiles a lot easier after a few drinks w you. gojo and yuji stick to their sodas and nanami is happy to order wine for you both.

gojo and yuji make easy conversation and everyone genuinely has a nice dinner. nanami is ready to say bye to the guys as you finish a conversation with yuji about a show. gojo and yuji excitedly watch you both walk away as nanami keeps a hand on your lower back to lead you down the street then moves to hold your hand. they start giggling out loud, a little too loud, when you step even closer to hold his arm with your other hand and lean your head on his shoulder as you walk back home.

yuji excitedly goes to nanami to ask if he can join you guys after work. nanami is confused but yuji tells him to check his phone. you had asked if he wanted to visit an ice cream parlor and bakery with you and that you had asked yuji for the name since he brought up the place at dinner.

“we were talking about the show hannibal and she recommended a movie if i liked that show so i did the same and recommended something. she said she'd let me know what she thought the next time she saw me but i didn't know when that'd be and i think she read my mind so we exchanged emails,” yuji rambles nonchalantly about exchanging information with his girlfriend.

"nanamin, i thought you didn't like sweets?" nanami confirms that he does not care for them but you like them and he always finds another bread or alternative to eat as you eat your sugar-filled dessert.

yuji gives a thumbs up and that the man has his respect. nanami tries to ignore the comment… but the compliment feels nice. what didn’t feel so nice was two other kids attaching themselves to yuji and nanami for the ice cream.

he gets in the car and looks back at nobara, yuji, and megumi through the rearview mirror and hopes you don’t mind these kids attaching themselves like leeches on your date. and you don’t mind, it was nice to finally meet some of the people he’s talk so much about and you liked hearing new stories about him.

you’re getting a couple samples and pass them to nanami once you’ve tasted a bit. he wouldn’t get a full ice cream for himself but he could do samples... and indirect kisses. you read his mind (bc you were thinking the same) and try to flirt and raise your eyebrows at nanami seductively but shy away and start to laugh instead. nanami know what you were trying to do yet again and he finds it endearing every time you do it. he pulls you in from your waist and leans down to kiss your bare shoulder thinking the kids are too busy looking for their own desserts to notice. they were not busy, they were looking and saw it all.

the kids are shocked, nobara is taking notes bc she wants that romantic gesture, yuji wants to cheer him on, and megumi's eyes widen but he wonders just how long nanami's been hiding this side of himiself. all in all, all three kids want to see this side more and start planning ways to go out with you both again.

nobara and maki go shopping for some spring clothes and as nobara is talking about a store she saw while maki got an iced coffee she stops in her tracks. nanami is inside the store they were about to pass and he's standing as still as a statue... holding a couple shopping bags in one hand and a purse on his shoulder. maki follows nobara's gaze and chuckles but prepares to walk away. nobara grabs her arm and pulls her into the store but hides behind a rack to keep watching nanami.

you come out of the dressing room in the perfect little black dress and nobara and maki can't help but stare in appreciation and awe. they were impressed by how you looked but even more impressed when nanami took out his phone and took a picture. even from afar, they could tell it was a damn good picture and that that man knew your angles.

gojo wants to go to a club. he knows nanami will say no straight up so he starts the conversation with, "hey you know what y/n might like?" gojo tries to sell the club the best he can but nanami just says ok and walks away.

gojo texts nanami later that night to ask (plead) him if he'd want to go and all nanami says is that you both will meet him there. gojo hums as he gets ready and arrives to the club. he sees you and nanami walk into the dark and loud room but immediately notices nanami's black button-up that has the top few buttons opened and no tie, and your little black dress. it's shorter (and honestly sexier) than what gojo imagined you'd wear in an outing with nanami but he has to admit that his pair of friends were a damn wonder to look at. he discreetly takes a photo of you two and sends it to nanami. it becomes nanami's favorite photo.

gojo compliments both of you and you thank him saying you had told nanami he'd look great with that simple button-up and gojo agrees. nanami blushes a bit at your compliment. gojo asks about your dress and you laugh recalling when you were getting ready. you had asked nanami if you could wear the dress since you weren't sure if it was too short and he just nodded and basically said 'dress slutty, i can fight' (not in those exact words but that's how you registered it and you fell even more in love with the man). nanami really did not care about what you wore, he would definitely voice if something was not appropriate but he has not said anything about any of your clothes since you've met. gojo couldn't even laugh at nanami's response to your question, he was impressed and turns to nanami to give a thumbs up (and writes that down to use later).

all the students sit with nanami and gojo in the cafeteria. they're sitting around waiting for their meal after their mission when nanami remembers that he promised to call you after he was done. he had accidentally let it slip that the mission seemed dangerous and you asked if he could spare a moment after the mission to call or text you to make sure he was fine.

he excuses himself and gojo faintly hears your voice before his friend fully walks out of the cafeteria for his call. immediately after nanami leaves, the students huddle closer to the table and start talking about you. gojo is kind of shocked by the student's reactions but they all look at him and in their own way talk about how much they like you for nanami. a cold and serious man has the embodiment of bubblegum on his arm and they loved it. gojo joins his giggling students and nanami waits a moment outside the cafeteria door to listen to his team rave about you before walking back in with a light blush on his cheeks.

AUUUUUUUUGH IM LOSING MY MIND OVER THE WATCHER I LOVE THIS DLC SO MUCH

HUGE SPOILERS BELOW FOR THE WHOLE DLC im rambling somewhat incoherently. Have fun reading it I guess lol

I love being able to explore the fringes of reality and time!!!! I loooove cosmic stuff like this and im collecting new lore like it's all trinkets

Watcher DLC is basically POV: youre a slugcat who gets grabbed by an echo and the echo is like "Look!! I figured out how to do cool stuff! Im gonna show it to you!!" And eventually you help them move on! (Bro could have already escaped their echo cycle, but just bc they have attained enlightenment doesn't mean they are ready to move on)

And THE ROT.... The risks of warping without karma flowers... making the world more unstable as you go. Normal rot being the product of unstable genetics while this nastier stuff is the product of unstable reality

And even if you aren't warping around, you're still leaving behind tears if you have high enough ripple karma. Instead of simply changing color, when you go invisible you are actually moving in and out of the "shadow realm" (probably a layer between normal reality and the void) and with enough power, exiting it creates rips in the fabric, so to speak

AND THE VOIDPRAWN!!! Idk why they are blue (might be how Watcher perceives them). Apparently they also eat each other, and probably the reason why the bigger ones try to kill you is they think you are another voidprawn to eat. As for why the voidprawn eat each other in the first place... maybe that's how they grow? They eat each other and merge their consciousnesses into something bigger, and eventually they grow up into a void worm? And it's quite rare for voidspawn to start cannibalizing one another, but once they start it is hard to stop because they Need To Grow.

And Watcher's state is so weird and unnatural (they can go into the shadow realm where voidprawn often dwell) that of course the other voidspawn think they are one of them. Poor watcher...

And Outer Rim!!! I don't think it is an Actual Place and more like a Metaphorical one. It's the edge of a ripple where the water is still. (Attempting to warp without reinforced karma brings up an alert that says that this "fringe" is already too unstable.) But it is still affected by the ripples you leave, and bad warping repeatedly makes the rot side of the region grow and eventually sprout A Guy. And the Guy is so funky......

The Prince (as they are called) is courteous but the rot still tries to eat you. And likewise, the void intrudes upon his kingdom, primarily in the form of the Watcher and karma flowers. Void and rot best friends but they would literally eat each other if given the chance. Except Void is ultimately the bigger fish here.

Change of topic! The Ancients... Im not a huge fan of the idea of Ancients being really big (or, not *that* big - I still imagine them being quite a bit taller than humans). It doesn't make much sense to me in terms of world and creature scaling. Then again I should probably draw size comparison stuff to figure out how tall they really are in my eyes

As for Ancient Urban! Definitely pre-iterators but post-void revolution due to the presence of void baths. I LOVE having a look into the culture of Ancients, and more importantly, the creatures. The only flora/fauna that you can interact with in Ancient Urban are: rats, small moths, batflies, and bubble fruit. Considering how far in the past this region probably is, there's a good chance that all four of these species are primal fauna (meaning that my headcanon abt batflies being primal fauna is quite possibly canon!)

And the other beasts! The moths (Aka big moths, mothbirds, moth dragons, mothmen, angels, etc; all nicknames from me and my friends) are probably relatives of batflies but they grew really big. Not sure if that is due to a natural process (growing larger to deal with cold weather?) or due to bio-engineering. The smaller counterparts seem to be similar to pigeons or songbirds in how they exist in Ancient Urban, and some of them appear to have colored bands on their legs. Interesting....

I dont have much else to say at the moment ahrhdjdbdkddbdndj so have fun with me loring!

I know you’ve talked about other characters who act and their relationships with Diantha. Do you have any headcanons for Diantha’s potential relationships with any other characters in the entertainment/art world that aren’t actors? Characters like Elesa, Nessa, Roxie, etc. (These are just examples you don’t have to share thoughts for these specific characters if you don’t have any.)

Firstly, I am so so so sorry for making you wait so damn long. Thank you VERY much for the ask, and additionally thank you VERY much for your patience.

I'll go through a few that I can think of. Im gonna skip the ones ive already spoken about to some extent in the past, such as Brycen, Viola and Alexa, and Malva. everything going under the cut bc it got Long

Fantina: I would love to see this interaction. Fantina would be SUCH a big fan. again, i see this being some diva worship on fantina's part. diantha is used to it and is courteous, and fantina is overjoyed that diantha can handle her enthusiasm and eccentricity and not get overwhelmed. there is so much they can bond over. dancing. contest performance. queerness. their respective ghost types. nevertheless, i dont see diantha really going much deeper than "interacting with a fan." she does however immediately clock that that french accent is fake and. its like nails on a chalkboard to her. fantina artfully sidesteps any questions about her true origins.

Argenta: argenta is a fashion designer right. i dont really see them having interacted much in person. i wonder if frontier brains would go to league conferences despite not being formally a part of a league. i do think perhaps diantha would have commissioned her on one or two occasions. and there are some stellar photoshoots shes done showcasing some of argenta's work. i havent mulled argenta around in my head enough to have a feel for her character so im not sure how they would interact.

Elesa: i can see them getting along great. in my head, i have this entirely self indulgent scenario that i enjoy where i feel that elesa, diantha, marley, and cheryl would get along SO well and tbh i just want them to all have a fun lil Girls Night together. apart from me being entirely biased about each of these characters, i just think theyd all vibe together really well. ghhh tbh i wanna expand more on these four characters spending time togehter at some point. again, elesa probably is a big fan of diantha's and sees her as a role model, and i can see a hypothetical situation where diantha would be able to tell elesa in person that she finds elesa to be extremely inspiring and LOVES the way she sparkles (why tf are both of these characters so weird about shining and sparkling. whatever. gay shit) and i think that would take elesa right the fuck out.

Roxie: twerp. diantha tries to exercise patience bc they are technically coworkers and also roxie is beloved by a couple of people that diantha cares very much for. but roxie pushes her buttons. in fact, roxie jabs at her buttons. roxie is irritating as all hell. i think i mentioned it once before that i think roxie would push diantha to a breaking point and diantha would snap at her. roxie would get to learn first hand just how scathing diantha can be, i think. roxie's music isnt diantha's first choice to listen to but i think she would recognize skill for what it is.

Burgh: let me be biased. this is so self indulgent for me. they would get along sooooooooooo well. so so so well. they would never get to see each other but they would be the kind of people where when they do get to see each other like at conferences and stuff, they immediately make plans for lunch and yuck it up together like they get to see each other all the time. oh id love to expand on this more sometime. this makes my heart so happy.

Shauntal: diantha has probably read some of shauntal's stuff and not even realized it was her's. shauntal probably thinks diantha is intimidating to some degree, id think. very nice, but intimidating. loves diantha's gourgeist probably

Siebold: ok, maybe this feels like a bit of a shoehorn, but for whatever reason i see siebold being like. an anthony bourdaine-adjascent celebrity chef. i dont super see him being terribly fixated with being on camera, but enjoying traveling all over to enjoy what other places have to offer and trying to educate and expand people's understanding of food from around the world and also being very outspoken on his thoughts on humanity in general. he and diantha vibe so well. im definitely ganking this from fics ive read but they may as well be besties.

im gonna have to cut it here bc my brain has reached its limit for now, im so sorry, but there are other characters i want to talk about too and i will make a separate post for them later

hotd and magnificent century and their character parallels

hatice:helaena—both got married to a man they didn't love(hatice's first marriage was to a much older man, against her wish), both got cheated on by their husbands, both are treated as the nice innocent members by their families while the others also dismiss their opinions more often than not, helaena's prophecies and hatice's fear of ibrahim's statues and if u want to be insane her nightmare abt nigar even if both were her being paranoid she still turned out to be right and their tragic fates could also be compared to one another in a way. them both losing children in tragic ways as well.

ibrahim:daemon—so this one's pretty obvious to me. both are warriors and want(ed) to die in battle serving their rulers, both have ambitions(daemon wanting to be the king and ibrahim's im the tamer and lion is the sultan speech), both have their own insecurities, want a place to belong, both are ruthless, both had mistresses(daemon with mysaria and ibrahim with nigar) etc. its not a 100% correct comparison bc daemon is of the royal family and ibrahim came as a slave but still.

aemond:bayezid—men children playing war experts, short tempers, brother complex, overlooked, anger issues etc.

aegon:selim—so while aegon was portrayed so badly selim somehow came out looking like an amazing man in comparison they are both alcoholics who didn't want their duty but ended up accepting it after being pushed into it and even fighting to prove themselves capable for the challenge.

sah:rhaenys—both these women stand on business!! both married to powerful men(even if lutfi is the grossest nastiest man in the show and im forever his biggest hater). just how sah knew mihrimah was to blame for esmahan falling rhaenys blamed rhaenyra and daemon for their children dying and uhm that scene of sah killing hurrem's servant for writing a fake letter and rhaenys burning smallfolk who were rooting for aegon always comes to mind. both have that brilliant i see through your bullshit look and cunning energy also

rhaena:cihangir—both are overlooked by their families, one for a lack of a dragon and the other for his disability. it's not the perfect comparison obviously but just like rhaena might feel inadequate to her sister who actively participates in supporting rhaenyra's claim while she can't do much to help, cihangir feels inadequate to his brothers despite loving them greatly.

mehmed: daeron the daring—courteous and gentlest among all of their brothers and daeron was described as someone more likely to follow the orders than give them. and just like hotd forgot his existence 2 seasons in the show mc writers gave mehmed minimum character development and complex traits because why not.

baela: aybige hatun— baela was wild, willing and fearless and considered herself more boyish than lady like. just like aybige she loved riding AND they both got engaged/married to their relatives who happen to be brunettes.

alicent: mihrimah. okay but hear me out!! both are women of noble birth who got manipulated into marrying older nasty men, both rock that power walk, both are sort of binded to the tradition and serving the releam/empire, both tend to go to weird disgusting men when in need of an aid(alicent with larys i think and mihrimah with rustem. ugh). and they both prioritize their family above everything and there's alicents affair with criston and mihrimahs attraction to bali bey and pedro also.

at the same time, alicent has parallels with both hurrem(the knife scene, slaying in green sjjejdj, explaining to their children that they're the challenge for the throne etc) mahidevran(following the patriarchal system and getting shocked when it doesnt serve them tho for alicent i blame this more on the terrible writing and that sense of self righteousness) as well so it could be whichever.

hurrem: rhaenyra? again, im conflicted on this one. just like rhaenyra was named the first female ruler hurrem became the sultan's lawful wife, hurrem was called a witch and rhaenyra cruel, just like how hurrem is mistreated by valide rhaenyra IS mistreated by alicent, in a way both fight to change the system etc. i could also totally see hurrem and nyra bonding just over talking about their favorite foods.

that being said there's also one glaring similarity between her and mustafa and it's them both being heirs and therefore threats to their brothers lives/those brothers being threats to their own lives as well

i have no idea for nigar and nurbanu which is funny bc they are one of my faves from the show and idk abt sully either bc i wanna say viserys but somehow viserys is so lame he makes sully look amazing in comparison. well that and @desmoonl would probably find where i live and ensure my permanent disappearance off planet earth bc she doesn't play abt bearded rulers w a loyalty kink

#also if you're going to engage please at least be respectful about it this IS just my opinion #a lot of it changed after my recent mc rewatch though.#magnificent century

to @bulletcreep , never change your honest morals. never change your perspective on real life and it's mishaps. never change your personality for anyone. never apologize to us for even assuming you can't talk to us, bc you can. if we don't like or don't want to be told smth, we will communicate, but never ever Ever feel bad for seeking solace in a new friend. we may not be someone you've known forever but it feels like you're a real one, chief. you are so unique. you love what you love and stand up for it. you appreciate things others don't, and what they take for granted, you hold dear. you are loved, and you are appreciated, at least by us. you are never a burden. you are funny and humble, you are perceptive and know your limits. I am glad to call you my friend. stay strong, not because you're expected to, but because you just are.

to @cat-collections-agency , we don't talk a whole lot sometimes and today we got busy with irl stuff going on but please know we see you and hear you. your values will never be challenged with us and we want to create and curate a good friendship for us. you are sensitive but admirable, and a lovely person to spend time with. I enjoy us playing that silly stupid letter league scrabble game on discord with you or showing off our gaming experience of genshin to you, you make us feel seen and we appreciate that heavily of you. you are observant and sincere, and we couldn't ask for a better friend. sure you get busy with irl stuff but we don't care or mind because you always come back around to spend time with us, and that's what is important. thank you.

and to @plushiecemetery , you darling creature you. it's been a delight getting to know you and blossom even after a rough patch you've been in while we've been on the sidelines, rioting with our own issues. but I wanted to take the time now to at least share our thoughts and care. you are so sweet and so considerate, you're always watchful and always want to see the good In people. you guys are so wonderful to talk to and be around, and we heavily value our bond. im glad to have met you, even if under less than par.or poor standards of the server we come from, but I want you to know we really like you, both in a platonic and extra way of sharing and showing our affection. you are personal and understanding, courteous and amazing. you are a beautiful bunch of critters. never change.

(insert funny dramatic crying emoji) as I said a bit embarrassing bc i think from context we knew each other better in the dream but i felt obligated to tell u bc it was so meta and involved u

This sounds mean but is coming from a well-meaning place: why are you upset about that moid coworker. So he was nice to you, until you come to work with hickeys (kinda trashy but we’ll let it slide) and now he’s a dick. So he’s nice until he is shown evidence you had a romantic encounter with someone else. This moid is the equivalent of “add nice tokens until sex comes out.” The fact he switched up so fast the second he thought you fucked someone else ⁉️ He was never a nice guy, he never liked you, he wanted to smash and that’s it. He doesn’t see you as a person, he sees you as something to be used and discarded- once he saw someone “used” it first, he moved directly to discarding. Use your head babe, he showed his true colors. xx luv ya

no no youre right but 😭 well it just sucks to have someone show their colors like this. part of what hurts is that it really was night and day, like a complete 180, and nobody notices but me and insists its just bc he got dumped when this started happening well before that…

ive been keeping my eye on him too. hes friendly with everyone. it feels like hes going out of his way to chat everyone up - and then when im talking to someone nearby he does his best to look away. yesterday i did something bad mannered without thinking about it (tore open a packet of aspirin, spat out a piece of it😭) and he came over and was like “why would you do that, that was disgusting and inappropriate.” he has never lectured me like that. and it was the first time he spoke to me in like days. i thought he was joking!

but that was not the worst. today it came to a head, i saw him smirking and i snapped. i asked to speak to him privately (after him initially ignoring me, with an “i guess… 🙄”) and we went to the back. he kept working while i was trying to speak to him, and when i moved in front of him, he could barely even look me in the eye and he had this big dumb nervous grin on his face, and kept laughing like “haha whats the problem? 😅” granted i kept him off guard and i honestly hadnt meant to, but still. i couldnt believe how rude he was being, even if he was nervous. he used to be so courteous!

i was angry and fighting back tears bc i would literally rather die than cry in front of a man like that, so i kept my voice as calm as i could be and was like “whats going on? i understand youre going through something hard rn, but it feels like somethings wrong between us and idk why.” he brushed it off again, still laughing and smiling, and i said “well youve been acting differently for weeks, and you only speak to me now just to lecture me.” he rambled some more bullshit, like “idk sometimes i just dont have anything to say.”

yeah, right. if theres not a problem, then who just has nothing to say to someone in a matter of a DAY?

i couldnt do anything with that and i was pretty upset, so i just told him id be here when he was ready to talk and made sure to stay away from him. then after weeping in the group chat, i was a huge mess, and then my other (male) but honestly sweet coworker saw and figured out what happened and comforted me..

okay so yeah. this is whats so upsetting. its not so much i miss our flirty dynamic - its that a coworker is pulling psychological petty high school bullshit over seemingly nothing - or worse, you and i are right, and hes icing me out for having a sex life! i feel like im going nuts!!!!
