I’ve done a similar response to this before here and mentioned something else about it here but I’ll go over it again since those posts are both from a while ago. also bear in mind I haven’t seen aya recently bc I don’t like it. okay let’s get into it

[also im gonna preface this saying maybe i sound very pessimistic but im ranting and its just gonna sound like im complaining because i am. i mean no real malice by the way. im simply a person with a blog.]

first off. they don’t use the show don’t tell as well as they could. in the what might have been montage, sure, they showed potential scenarios and how phineas felt (very briefly) when isa stopped visiting his backyard but it just feels so rushed. I get that they only had like 11 minutes to show it but idk there has to be another way to write it. or just not have it at all idk its just from a writing point of view the whole episode feels rushed and out of place from everything else continuity-wise. why not use little easter eggs planted in the show beforehand? operation crumbcake? pharmacists? meapless in seattle? god theres so many episodes with evidence that phineas liked her back even if he didnt know. just. continuity!!!!

second. why did their friends not try something sooner. it’s not like they didn’t know. like phineas seems to be okay with saying “i wish! i am so in the friend zone there” in front of his friends (that quote alone makes me lose my shit but that’s a whole other point) so clearly they knew about phineas. and isabella also wasn’t quiet about it (source: pnf s1-4). they had like four years of high school to do something and they planned it the day isa left for college? nah its just the least realistic thing ever for me. also them being 18 is like yeah okay maybe the slow burn was worth it and theyre way more grown up (i love a good slowburn) but ohhhhhh my god SURELY their friends were getting sick of them dancing around each other. just me?

third. and I’m sorry to ash simpson but oh my god I hate the character designs like They Would Not Fucking Look Like That. it almost feels like it completely disregards their arcs during the original summer. like yeah child chub disappears over ur teen years but sometimes it stays a little longer! make phineas less twiggy!! make isa look more like her mother! (am i about to redesign them again? whoops)

four. and i know this is no fault of dan and swampy but the show was about to end anyways and yet the entire friend group was paired off into hetero ships?? get fucking real. none of those kids are straight. realistically, i know it was a different time and gay marriage wasnt even legal in the us yet so it wasnt all that common to have queer romance on screen let alone on disney channel but like i said, the show was about to end. what were the disney channel execs gonna do? cancel it? lmao

five. "I am so in the friend zone there." "we are guys. we do not talk about our feelings." WHAT!!! i cant believe this shit is real. these lines of dialogue are canon. what the hell. what kind of message does that even send to younger, impressionable viewers? if ur a 10 year old boy watching that (ok fine maybe that isnt gonna stick with you forever but listen) and you go 'oh its okay to just bottle everything up and not tell my friends about my feelings about anything ever' that is insane! thats not how things should go!! like i get the whole "im so in the friend zone" and yes, this also has to do with the era but like if they wanted to be a more progressive cartoon that kids look up to and enjoy maybe they just. shouldn't have put that whole conversation in.

i barely have any problems with the b plot. in fact id watch the episode just for the kazoo solo. because that plot lines up with the continuity. i can totally see heinz having bowling night with perry and carl and monogram every week! i can totally see perry and monogram retired! and carl running owca and getting payed for it! that all checks out! that one makes sense and works with the canon! if they got that plot so right how did they get the a plot so wrong?

i can answer this question: fanservice. its an awful word, i know. act your age is a fanservicey episode which is why i think it crashed and burned. mml season 2 is rooted in the same issue: doof is very present and takes away from the original plot of the show. like, the one he wasnt even in until the last episode of s1. slightly getting off topic but it is the crux of the issue. fanservice doesnt make for good storytelling. even if it brings in the big bucks. at its core, telling the story the way it should be told is the best one. even if it pisses people off. a good portion of the viewers will still appreciate whatever ending the creators come up with. and no, im not saying phinbella shouldn't have become canon, in fact i really like the ship and all their dynamics, i just think they went about it the wrong way.

as someone who's written and published fic about them getting together in different universes (granted, they were from when i was younger so its mildly terrible. take them with a grain of salt) there are a lot of other ways to tell that story canonically. honestly, i think the best way of doing it was to keep it ambiguous. dont tell that story. let the viewers pick their own ending for phineas and isabella. maybe they dont get together after all. who knows!

Frost Manor: Floor Plans

Got asked for Frost Manor floor plans and I uh. I went a little crazy...

Apologies for the quality--got too excited to ink em and wanted to share ASAP! I'll add on the inked versions At Some Point. Info and select close ups below the cut!

First/Ground Floor

It's a pretty straightforward floor!

Has LOTS of space because I have no concept of scale lmao

Let's go TOP DOWN, starting with: The Kitchen

It is Blaise's pride and joy. Fave room in the house. That's why it's so BIG i.e., LONG. He is also the primary cook so when they were building the house, Winter was like "ah yes. for all matters on the kitchen please defer to Blaise"

It has a WEIRD WALL that, as you can see, kept giving me HELL. But it is there and exists and makes a fun little nook which is where the kitchen table is and the entrance to the Den

the Den entrance is CLOSER to the table. Plz ignore the one over the blue parlour lol, I had. A STRUGGLE

That weird hallway is just inner wall for the chimney/fireplace shit to hide

Frost Manor has a LOT of fireplaces. I included the ones I know of for SURE but I believe there is also one in: The Den, the dining Room, every single parlour room there, and MAYBE the ballroom.

I did a CLOSE UP with MORE DEETS of the KITCHEN FOR Y'ALL:

Idk what goes on that slashy bit? Could be tall cupboards. Could be a broom closet. May actually be the dishwasher now that I think about it which, yes, they have one, Winter just doesn't pay much mind to it 🤭🤭🤭

The "desk corner" is like, a separate shelf that I believe is called a chef's shelf/pantry? Looks like this. We had one when I was little and it was iron and looked similar to this and I picture the one at Frost Manor to look like the one my parents had! but like longer lol and less full of paper

The Three Parlours: top one is the blue one where winter chats with the other seasons via crystal ball; middle one is ????? lord only knows, but I think it's yellow, and the one at the front is the front room aka, the room where Jacqueline waited. Like in this scrimbly >:)

That about covers it for the Ground floor! I shall end this blurb with a CLOSE UP of the FRONT PORCH and BACK DECK

Second Floor

This floor. Is the goddamn twilight zone. Here is why

Blinter's Room is top right (our left), far back of the house. It does not have windows on the bottom half of the room. And yet. I keep picturing windows down there and perhaps, Balcony Doors. And keep doing that like, unconsciously. Like in this close up of their room:

See how it says balcony there??? Yeah. WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING.

The OTHER twilight zone esque thing is the TWINS'S ROOMS

It also has windows. I have written about those windows. But for some odd reason lately. I have gotten the vibe. That their rooms are NOT right up against the wall, but in the MIDDLE. And that there is a whole ass second hallway with guest rooms that magically come and go as needed.

Oh my god.

And THEN. I also get the vibe that the SPARE ROOMS are NOT behind the twins's rooms, but BESIDE IT?? Which lead me to THREE (3) POTENTIAL LAYOUTS FOR THE SECOND FLOOR:

And looking at this I think I fucked up option B, lol, bc it should be the one with the LONG Fino and Fiera rooms like in the main floor.

Suffice to say, this manor is 5000 years old at LEAST and I feel as though Blaise has shifted rooms a BUNCH and TONS of reno has happened so. Maybe the second floor just IS twilight zone-y, IDK

BUT! I think that Fino and Fiera's rooms are DEFFS windowed, so it's most likely the long one, and Blinter's room is at the back corner of the house so the floor plans with that one are ACCURATE

The very bottom one is how I originally pictured the second floor, lol, but I feel as though the gallery wasn't always the gallery! I think Blinter also had a separate sitting room originally and it was the gallery but like, that's HUGE.

And I need you all to know that the rooms. Are tight and cozy bc they are filled with STUFF and THINGS. Even the GALLERY has seating in it! AHHHHH

but yeah. Second floor is an enigma. Idk.

Fun second floor fact: Were Pyros to get a redemption arc (👀👀) his room would be on that floor >:)

Third Floor

aka, cold front palace/flats!

This one gave me the LEAST amount of problems. Well, almost.

Jack's suite was a PROBLEM bc I kept picturing his bed like. In the middle of the room with no walls like a PSYCHOPATH and based on the convo he has with Jacqueline in Chapter uh. 19? 18? 17? JUST BEFORE MARKET DAY!! The door to his sitting room is on an angle?

AND THEN his convo with Fino in Chapter 23? 22? When he teleports into his room? It sounds like the door is like. In the middle of his room. Into the HALLWAY. And I didn't GIVE THEM hallway doors it's a SUITE LOOKING THING, IDK

SO YEAH

The third floor also has attic access and the attic is v small and mostly storage--probz like an antique market all up in there

They also have space there for a magic guest bedroom, too, which! As a fun fact, is where Bernard's room is in Frostmas! :)

soo YEAH there's a rough idea of what the place looks like. Um. There IS a Pinterest board for Frost Manor! It has not been updated in forever BUT IT IS THERE. WITH INSPO. And I'm fond of it bc I love colours and Frost Manor is colourful as frost lmao 🤭🤭

oh my god so yesterday at work one my coworkers, A, asked us all if we had plans for the three day weekend and my other coworker, B, just said he was planning to do some reading and writing. B has mentioned that he writes to me and our other coworker, C, before, and has said he's been trying to write the same novel for like. literal years of his life (which — Fat Mood lmfao). but anyways, so B said reading and writing and then A started asking follow up questions about his writing, like "what is it about" and B basically was like "i would like to not say" and so NATURALLY that made A, C, and i WAY more curious about it djsksk and so we all started asking a million follow up questions to get B to spill any details (which was okay bc B literally was like "well i WANT to tell you guys but also i don't bc it's not finished yet" so we weren't like. being assholes about it or anything. if he genuinely was bothered by us asking we would've stopped.) but he did kind of give us some details, not a lot, but some.

ANYWAYS THO. all that to say, i am, obviously, ALSO a writer that is actively (well.) writing, and there were SO many times i wanted to be like I FEEL YOU B, WHAT A MOOD, I KNOW HOW THAT IS fjsksk but i knew the SECOND i Revealed™️ that i also write id get the exact same 20(0) questions directed towards me and i REALLY don't want to say LMAO

(actually B and C do know i also write, it came up a few months back once, but it was suuuuper brief and not a lot of details were given and idk if they remember tbh)

but YEAH i was just sitting there vibrating out of my skin bc i so badly wanted to be like Solidarity 😌✊️ but i didn't gjdkdk

She's inspired by medusa in greek mythology, I know she appeared like 5 seconds in the disney movie, but like how can i not put such an iconic character??? also, medusa is quite villainy in the mythos, so i feel like it fits the twst theme yknow.

Bellaire Witcher

So her inspiration is basically a mix of the cheshire cat and mad hatter. she's a tortured artist, so not exactly based on a disney character i just find it fun to make a very wild and artistic character. now i don't know if i should keep her clover design maybe I'll change it because i gave her a clover bcs i thought it looked cute lmao.

Ruth Burn

I just wanted a fox oc lmao. I thought omg twst doesn't have foxes, and then fellow popped up, and I'm like, welp. So personality wise, Ruth is a very responsible person, but she has a cheeky side that is kinda like ruggie in a way. Her motivations are more social rather than self-preservation like ruggie. i didn't really base her on any character from disney i just knew i didn't want her to be text book cheeky fox character, wanted her to be more of like a normal teen with bits of fox like slyness in her.

Mielin Schoerin and Mimi Schoerin

They're kinda inspired by the twin cats in lady and the tramp. The first two that i designed, actually.

Mielin (dark hair) is the oldest between the two, and she's the most developed character in the cast because i just fell in love with her LMAO. Mielin's name came from a part of a cell in the nerve system cmiiw, so its main job is to protect, and i was like, hell yeah, that name sounds cool. So she's the more mellow twin takes things more seriously than her sister. She's usually seen to be very uptight and awkward by the other students but that's mostly because she's just quite dense with her surroundings. funfact but i like to imagine she's the girl crush of campus bcs i want to give her so much love shhshsb

Mimi (blondie) is the younger one, and i like to think she's the more energetic of the two, but she is more analytical than mielin. Mimi has this aura of being more laid back of the two, but she has the sense of being all knowing of things. kinda like floyd but not as wacky as floyd.

Naima / Zahra (can't decide but im leaning towards Naima)

Honestly, she's my fav design, but i have no clue on her background yet. I'm leaning towards her being a passionate dancer whose roots are from traditional dances from her culture, or i could go the other route of her being an ex athlete or ex idol. since the story i want to tell through her is to be her own self and come to terms with her choices because, like, what if our choices are just not right for us? Im trying to make her into a character that isn't similar to the existing cast in twst, idk im finding myself making her into a jamil 2.0 and im putting more thought into her to not be like that. the disney movie doesn't really have a character that i want to adopt to be her so im still thinking about it.

Melissa (Mel)

so diasomnia's book is still ongoing, i dont have any fixed plans for her involvement with the existing cast yet. but my plan is to make her a race of beings opposite to faes in a sense, since her magic doesn't come from her but the magic of others around her. so, like sucking the life out of them and repurposing it to be her own type of thing. Malleus finds her abandoned in the forest as a young kid with all the magic in the surrounding area gone. She gets adopted, but lilia refuses because she can be dangerous with her inate powers that can weaken malleus and endanger silver since in my head, they found her after lilia took in silver. so they came to an agreement to take care of mel with the condition she stays away from silver and malleus before learning to control her powers. Now, what makes mel okay with this treatment in her head is because she remembers everything from her birth and how her mother abandoned her and stuff so she feels like its normal and devotes herself to Malleus as a guard as a sense of gratitude for letting a monster like her in. Her arc is realizing that she's not a monster that she was made to believe. Instead, she was a neglected kid who wasn't taught properly. Honestly, i just feel really sad about her, and initially, i want her to explore lilia's character since he's one of my favorites but after concocting this i just want to give mel a hug.

What’s are your views on “purity culture” among christians

I think it varies between denominations but the idea is still around mainly fundamentalists. It’s definitely important to teach women how important it is to be picky, believe in hypergamy, and ignore probably the 90% of scrotes that aren’t good people but I never really believed in flat out refusing to teach sex ed, what stds and stis are, what Plan B is, and how birth control and condoms work. Which seems like a lot of these more fundamentalists tend to do.

I had this friend who is divorced now. She grew up in that type of environment where they were very strict about her purity but ignored the boys virginity completely. Like she had two brothers who were total opposites. 1 was basically community dick and caught a disease and her parents didn’t care 💀 the other was an incel who was very anti social. And her parents were upset that they couldn’t marry him off because not even the desperate fundie girls wanted his violent outbursts. He’s still single too and approaching 40

She was married young to her ex and had no idea how sex even worked. She was only told to avoid it and it just scared her. So when she got married, she told me how her parents and church counselor were upset that she didnt turn into someone who liked sex immediately. Even kissing was new to her and she didn’t know what to do. She didn’t like it at all/avoided sleeping in the same as her husband and was told by them to suck it up when she expressed she had pain. When she got older she left that church and her husband but was ex communicated by her family for it.

Does that type of stuff happen in France?

Purity isn't much of a thing anywhere else in the world because as I said, most of USAmerican evangelicalism staples are rooted in culture not in Christianism. I've always found fascinating how France & its very liberal "sex culture" was compared to the US (age of consent is 15 years old, birth control & abortion is free, condoms are handed over in highschool, etc.) yet managed to have proportionally lower abortion rate than God fearing United States of America lol

Fundies family don't exist anywhere else in the world beside the USA anon so nope, we don't have this kind of messy affairs here. Catholicism is in a limbo here in France and real Catholic families are very rare. And even when they do, they don't hold such a spiritual grip on their members to guilt trip them into marrying someone. The only stories of people being excommunicated are bishops coming out as gay or being caught dating/having sex with women lol

The story of your divorced friend is very representative of the double standards of women virginity vs male virginity. Although it's quite normal to particularly warn off women about the consequences of sex because, unlike men, they are the ones who'll carry the baby so they have much more responsibility to deal with (as unfair it may sound). But it doesn't mean men virginity is any less relevant.

Many of women will never want a community d*ck, that's why her busted brother is still single at 40 (which is weird bc red pillers always said men got more value as they got older 🤔).

Fornicators are literally filled with demons and should be avoided at all costs.

And yet, I'm sure he's not shamed like his sister was to marry a man she was even attracted to... Her story is so sad.. but she's better off outside of this cult though. She's lucky she if she didn't have any child with him...

I think kids shouldn't be taught sex ed before middle school. I did in elementary school and it lowkey fucked me up. Even when I was 12-13 years old I had a male friend of my age who told me how many times a week he masturbated and it triggered me so bad lmao

Tbh there should be something progressive, like first learning about sexual organs, periods, how babies are made (12~13 years old), than at 15 about birth control(?) IDK the idea of teaching kids sex at school is weird to me but I think I would be even more traumatized if my mom taught me any of this because we NEVER talk about things like that lmaoo I guess it's important to build a trust relationship with your kid from start so that it's not awkward when you actually do? IDK I lowkey hate the sex talk and wish sex wasn't such a big deal in society so I'm probably not the best person to inquire about that lmaooo

hi again!! been a couple days with no update, time got away from me hahah. i've been playing a lot with my brother, playing a bit on my VW playthrough (although i think i'm like. really in it today and will probably play a lot more on my own). i also finally let myself start looking for fic and fanart and stuff a couple of days ago. so happy to say that linhardt finally clicked for me and i really like him now. i liked him before, and he's still somehow my least favorite eagle but. as i've definitely mentioned before i love all of them.

YEAH. idk it really just feels... wrong to pair ingrid with any guy romantically? idk beyond the fact that she is a lesbian To Me (for reasons similar to posts you've rbed and made) even if she weren't it's just like... uniquely nightmarish. especially considering i think the only options i had recruited on that run were. felix and sylvain. and while in spite of myself sylvain really grew on me, and felix is. idk he's fine. like i said her ending up with either of them is kinda.... the worst lol. i didn't even get to the b support with her and felix bc i ended up googling around and seeing general opinions on some potential paired endings i could've gotten on my last run and made the choice to keep ingrid single and intentionally kept her away from both of them lest i got their ending on accident lmao.

hmmm i definitely got the petra and bernie supports as well as the dorothea and bernie supports last playthrough! those two in particular i really wished had an a support. bernie and dorothea especially, their supports were some of my favorites! i only got one with ingrid and dorothea, and i think only one with bernie and ingrid? i know there were a handful with edelgard that i only got to b but that actually had an a support (which i'll def get on my next CF playthrough, if my brother doesn't get them. and probably if he does lol). definitely bernie i only got to b with her, and i think maybe the same with dorothea??? but that might be wrong. i would check but my brother is playing rn LMAO. marianne didn't really have like... any supports with girls who i had on that playthrough which was soooo annoying. i got lysithea after the timeskip but barely used her so i dont think i even got their c support that playthrough?

yeah i would love to recruit hilda but like. the desire to side with edie outweighs my desire to recruit her, especially since i just.... like all the eagles more on average than the lions and like hearing them talk during the story DFSKKF plus you don't have to kill hilda or claude who i also really like. i'll def try that with dedue because i do actually really like him despite like. barely interacting with him so far.

yeah by character perspective i do mean leveling from what like.. makes sense for their character to me! and for battle stuff, before i really knew how supports worked i would like put certain characters together bc i was like "oh this character probably likes being around this one" or "this one feels safer if another character is in front of them, and this one is probably more inclined to pick up on that and get in front of them" so that's how i usually try to play my battles lol. which works out pretty well in terms of supports, i'm just a little more conscious of that now.

update on my brother's playthrough!! he's recruited over half of the lions which is kind of funny to me like. okay dedue and dimitri are unrecruitable but LMFAO im picturing class for the blue lions now that it's just those two and ashe. he's also recruited some of the deer as well (marianne, lysithea and ignatz i think? and he's planning on recruiting leonie too lmao). win for both of us..... he likes bernie now!!!!! we haven't reached the timeskip yet but i think some of her b supports got her to grow on him. i have a feeling he's gonna side with edie, but the biggest thing that might stop him is that he REALLY likes hilda and wants to recruit her. but i think the fact that he likes edie might outweigh that?? here's hoping at least! he also really likes annette a lot. i made him make a tierlist and his favorites right now are annette, petra, edelgard, hilda, lysithea, and caspar, in that order.

this is getting SO long but. as for my playthrough! i finally decided who exactly i wanted to recruit (and recruited them all today!). i decided to get three from each other house, and ended up with caspar, petra and dorothea from the eagles, and sylvain, annette, and ashe from the lions. i was going to get mercedes but after watching my brother get their b support i thought to myself. wouldn't it just be awful if they got that b support and i only recruited one of them. and so that's my plan! i think i'm gonna do the opposite on my next CF playthrough and just get mercedes. i'm really undecided on which paired endings i'm going to get, because i'm enjoying so many of the supports.... almost everyone i have has multiple supports that i'm actually interested in with characters i really like this playthrough! which is great! last playthrough i barely had any interesting ones with marianne. now i've got a team that's basically evenly split by original house, which is really fun (i've been going with my six out of house recruits, hilda, marianne and claude, and byleth, and i've been really enjoying it).

i know i said i really wanted the dorothea and petra paired ending (and i still do), but i'm considering s ranking dorothea myself this playthrough? although i might save that for my next CF run, or if i ever choose to go through with silver snow. i don't really know how all of the paired endings turn out, and i haven't gotten super far into the supports, but i'm liking caspar and ashe's supports so far, and i liked hilda and caspar's first support. if i choose to s support dorothea, i might go with caspar and petra again though? although i've also heard her supports with ashe and claude are good. but if i don't s support dorothea, i'll probably s support claude.... and i might pair him and hilda if i don't?? i'm liking their dynamic so far. although i'm ALSO liking hilda and marianne's supports. i really like annette and lysithea's supports, but sadly those only go to b... once again a loss for a supports between girls everywhere.... sylvain is gonna end up alone this time around for sure because while i do want to get his supports with dorothea again because i enjoyed them, i have like. multiple preferred endings for her lol. and i think the only other person he can get to a with that i have recruited is. byleth. who i also have other options for lol. lorenz is gonna end up alone because i don't like him lol and i don't want a character. raphael and ignatz... idk i like them and so far their most interesting support to me is with each other! so that's probably the route i'm gonna go. although i am enjoying a lot of raphael's supports in general so he's kind of my wildcard rn. as for annette, there are three characters i like who she could potentially get paired endings with? but i haven't seen enough of their supports (or any in some cases) to like. have a solid plan yet. i could probably keep going on but this is already SO long omg!!! basically the point is. i like so many of these characters now and i'm enjoying a lot of the dynamics! hope you're having a good one :)

for the B&W draft: 'myka' 3% - main character name, makes sense, 'xx' 3% - my place holder/marker for when I still need to fix or add something, fic's only half finished, makes sense, 'claudia' 2% - minor character they're on the phone with for like half the fic lmao (I think her name's more often than Helena's bc Helena and HG makes for more variety), 'ghost' 2% (makes sense for the fic even tho there isn't an actual ghost xD) & 'bag' 2% - snag, bag, tag! (along with some other words also at 2% but they're filler words like when, just, etc.)

for a Star Wars fic idea: 'obi-wan' 5%, 'jango', 'cody', 'just', 'some', 'force', 'jedi' - very on point for Jangobi Star Wars fic lmao. But my memory is so bad, it's only been a week since I wrote that 7k draft (in one go right after waking up and before forcing it upon @toboldlynerd lmao) and I already don't remember what Cody is doing in that fic??? 11 a WIP you’d like to finish someday

Well, the Avorah Hacks HBO S4 thing is definitely gonna get finished, because it's already finished, I just gotta keep posting the chapters at this point?

Apart from that, like I answered in 8., there are fics I'd like to continue/finish but that's wishful thinking and not actually gonna happen.

I have a couple Star Wars drafts atm like the one mentioned above, where my only plan is to make a new draft pile on Ao3 (bc I haven't got one for the fandom yet) and post them as chapters there. And I'm alright with that! I don't want to leave them to die in my drafts and I'm realistic enoguh to know I won't ever finish all the fic ideas I have. Too many ideas, too little time!

Oh hell yeah. like I answered here I tend to write in public places, there are always ppl around. And at home I live with my parents again so they're usually around. I just type type type away on my phone and completely forget what's going on around me. If there are annoying noises (weird voices, inconsistent noises, electricity noise, idk), I'll use headphones, but usually I don't even need that.

I know I'm a broken record but it's still in my header gif for a reason: Andromaquynh In Your Stead. I even had that shit printed out in hardcover copies for myself and those friends who had illustrated scenes and painted the cover image :) I made a proper timeline for that fic, it's a longfic with actual plot, you can probably even read it without knowing TOG (though I can only recommend the film if you like action movies) because I follow the whole plot just slightly adapted to my fic verse :)

in general that year and the time in TOG fandom was great for me in terms of fic writing, I'm also still proud of all the lore I created for my vampire-ish fics, and the college AU...

More recently I'm proud I'm finally posting the Avorah longfic xDxD and that I dared to dip my toe into a new fandom and post some Star Wars fics!

Yea, I think that's a fair analysis. He has to work at connecting, often relying on manuals, checklists, and psychoanalysis in lieu of natural instinctive connection. This could be because he's grown up with such a rocky foundation that he's afraid of Doing the Emotions Wrong (TM). To me, he often reads in-canon like a neurodivergent, burnt-out Gifted Kid still reaching for the Life That Passed Him By. ("I'm working on a Ph.D.") //

Oh, yeah. He's definitely oblivious about Dean's dreams and interests, especially in those early seasons.

I do think since combat connections are notoriously and well-researched to be deeply, deeply intense and even Weird (TM) to civilians and onlookers, Sam might not be able to draw clear lines between the different types of bonds because of this.

You remind me too of that one line from the Twigs n' Twine n' Tasha Banes:

This doesn't apply to just Mary but to Dean too! For the longest time, Sam didn't even see him as a person. Throughout the series I feel like Sam goes from making excuses like, "At least we had dad" to realizing that it was Dean who was "parent" all along.

SAM: Dean, you were the one who was always there for me. The only one. I mean, you practically raised me. (14x12)

Not to mention there's the whole competition with him--his misconception that Dean was John's favorite/took it easy on him. He was even weirdly competing with him at times in season 4 -> the whole Dean/weak and Sam/strong dilemma). Anyhoo. Yes!

I think there are lots of attenuating factors in SPN that make the character have complete down-and-out mental breakdowns that showcase their worst "freakout" behaviors, so I think as of right now, I'm embracing the cruelty as a mix of era-style pressures, reciprocal cruelty, psychological-wounds-of-the-moment, and crass low-class teasing, etc etc. Not sure yet!

I do think you raise a good point that despite underestimating their own "people skills," Dean and Cas seem to have superior natural social skills (yes, even Cas)! They connect more easily and have more reciprocal communication styles.

Sam on the other hand, seems like a Type A neurodivergent "checklister" in my eyes. That's why I think it feels like he's a little more "rules-oriented." He talks abstractly so often about psychoanalysis but he's soooo bad at emotions in the moment. (And I kind of love that, lol! He's always struggling!)

I think Sam actually seesaws in his morality quite a bit. But Cas is shown to be just as comfortable with moral relativism, as he himself says to his counterpart in season 13 AU Earth. Dean can actually be too rigid, and I don't know if that's necessarily better all the time.

wait im so glad you want clan beauty standards bc this is something ive been wanting so bad (and i plan on introducing it in my own writing bc it's such an interesting concept). i feel like tortoiseshells would definitely be considered "hot" lmao (spottedleaf and her consequences) while black (brown) mackerel tabbies specifically would be seen as average since it's v common w feral cats. solid white would be "ugly" for practical reasons like hunting camouflage- idk just my personal hc lol

oh yeah i've had beauty standards for ages. they don't often come up because i'm not often talking about what cats find attractive xd but like they do now and then. someone pointed out to me that dove is a really pretty cat in riverclan. she'd b prettier if she was a tabby but that's alright. she's still the cutest kitty <3

this current round of thought was inspired by...

featherpaw having some insecurities, so i've focused more on body types than pelts, but...

i think thunderclan finds torties (specifically torties, bc of brindling) beautiful (something something poetic fall leaves), and riverclan...varies. riverclan values strong contrast, which is true in some torties (esp. calicos), but not others (more brindled). windclan and shadowclan i'm not Quite sure of yet bc i don't have as good a handle on them yet.

as for your standard issue cat (black/"brown" mackerel tabby), that's not anyone's ideal but other than maybe (?) windclan, it's not strictly ugly. riverclan leans hard for silver tabbies, but in thunderclan it's pretty close to the ideal.

thunderclan values like. being functional. so distinctive pelts are not attractive. they mock riverclan for that lmao. this is probably the most sourced-in-canon headcanon here. so that's why they like classic tabbies.

white is...somewhat ugly in thunderclan, but not the other clans. it's a pretty colour in riverclan, and like. white cats don't exactly stay white. plus winter hunting advantage. windclan hunts mostly w speed, so it's a neutral colour (but rare anyway), and shadowclan...eh i'm still not sure. they're tricky bc like. i don't have any cats i've decided are shadowclan-attractive.

like for thunderclan, i've got firestar, tigerclaw, brindleface, spottedleaf, and so on. riverclan, i use silverstream (& feathertail, they look very similar), leopardstar, and oakheart. windclan's got crowfeather (but he's incredibly sexy to every clan so he doesn't Really count), heathertail, and tallstar (blame solacefruit for making me go "like every cat is gay for this scrawny ass motherfucker").

but i don't have ANYONE for shadowclan.

i digress.

ANYWAY don't take this as saying No to your headcanons or anything, we love all headcanons here <3 i just wanted to take any excuse to expand on mine.

i try to think of Clan Values wrt beauty standards. thunderclan is function over form. riverclan is abt...beauty for beauty's sake. windclan is very communal. shadowclan is. ??? pious??? fuck i have to figure out so much for shadowclan gdi.

anyway yeah this is something i've already had but've been trying to develop a bit more lately.

Maybe this is a stupid question, buuuuut:

I just can't imagine a world that Rhaegar comes back from the Trident, wins the war and becomes king. No, I'm not a anti Rhaegar, matter of fact I like him very much, I'm just can imagine how would Lya, little Jon, this whole affair, would settle in the capital. The norm that fics (at least those I read) tend to follow is to make Rhaegar:

1. A douche, paranoid and destiny-obessed king.

2. Completely incompetent, aloof monarch, that deep down has a heart of gold, but can't really be understood.

I mean, isn't he supposed to be a scholar since he was a kid? What's are your thoughts about it?

oh, yeah, i can totally understand this! it's is the whole point in canon actually, "the wrong man came back from the trident". you would expect a hero win against his antagonist and have a happy ending w his lady love but it doesn't happen. instead the subversion happens to them with rhaegar being killed by robert who becomes obviously a shitty king and lyanna dying after him. they were never supposed to have happy ending, they were created as tragic and doomed and dead from the beginning for the whole plot to start, jon to have his parentage mystery and dany to take the passed baton as the last dragon, prophesied savoir and the heir who has to carry entire house on her back now.

as for the realistic rhaegar wins aus that's the difficult question. tbh we just don't know enough abt their situation, plans and wishes. you see, e.g. in agot we can be right in ned's head and see his motivations, what he was thinking abt, what he was planning, what he was hoping to do. but if his story was told the way rhaegar's was i bet he would have his own crowd of haters and ~intellectuals~ jumping out every two seconds w their "hot takes" how actually all hints abt what rlly happened (ned being a good man w his own sense of honour, justice and experiences affecting him and the deal w cersei's children) doesn't matter and he was an ambitious prick, planned to grasp the power by being joffrey's regent and make his daughter sansa queen. (you can actually insert there any bullshit and still don't reach the level of stupidity of such "hot takes" this fandom loves so much lmao). also he would be blamed to the hell and beyond for being too stupid and not foreseeing the future and actions of other ppl bc ofc after everything happened it's so easy to say what was so obvious to notice. also they would say that the deaths of his men and horrible fates of his kids are 100% his fault and even straight up say he killed them lmao. i can rant abt it for hours so yeah. this is a situation w too many unknown variables bc it depends too much on actions of too many characters we don't know enough abt. the only thing it's possible to tell for sure is the fact that there couldn't be any perfect solutions since things got too complicated at this point.

such fics as you've mentioned tho are just a part of this dumb fanon where rhaegar is "too prophecy obsessed"/"incapable of love"/shrodinger's rhaegar both smart and stupid at the same time/whatever/all of this combined lmfao. the man was notably intelligent from the early age as you've absolutely rightly mentioned, his guesses abt himself being tptwp have nothing to do w egocentrism as some parts of the fandom would want us all to believe unless he wouldn't be so reasonable abt it and later on, after so many years, wouldn't have changed his mind and thought his son could be tptwp.

and literally fuck all antis that think you shouldn't consider prophecies that hold real power in this fantasy world lol. you know, aegon the conqueror was said to be motivated (or at least partly) to unify westeros by the prophecy and still got the treatment of perfect/maximum close to perfect figure of a leader everyone should look up to from the narrative and grrm. prophecy obsessed much, huh? i don't even talk abt all these parallels between him and rhaegar grrm put there not for bitches to ignore them completely! and i will never get tired of reminding that dismissing prophecies is UNWISE for targaryens of all people. the house whose story is built on the dream of young daenys and her father aenar that listened to her despite common sense (or what local "anti magic"/"anti prophecies" clowns consider to be common sense). targs would be as dead as the rest of dragonlords if not for daenys the dreamer. who else in the world has as many reasons to take prophecies seriously as them?

yet antis out there act as if rhaegar is one dimensional weirdo whose every character trait is abt mf ~prophecy obsession~. like how can they miss one of the main points so badly?? the game of thrones distracts ppl from the real danger beyond the wall, yk, the one rhaegar was aware of and meant to deal with. there wouldn't be such a problem if he became king and had as many years of head start before ice zombies apocalypse as ignorant bobby b did. rhaegar had to die just for westeros to sink in shit and our main heroes to save everyone to make this story more epic LMAO

so yeah, too many ppl portray rhaegar as this one dimensional robotic creature without any knowledge of what feelings are idk even for what reason. it seems these ppl can't read for real bc rhaegar was not only intelligent af as well as dutiful ("it seems i must be a warrior" but "he loved his harp more than his lance") but also. ugh emotional?? my boy had constant emo sessions w brooding at ruins of summerhall, sleeping out there beneath the stars all alone and writing songs that made all women cry. does it sound as someone who "isn't capable of love" lol? folks act as if he was completely heartless from the day he was born (bc he didnt play w other kids ig??) but in reality their emotional range is less than the one of a spoon in comparison to rhaegar's lol. i'm not even gonna address the horrible attitude of demonizing him for his implied depression, vile clowns never listen to themselves when they talk abt targaryens and their "madness".

tldr; these fics are mostly lame af and suck at characterization if they're making rhaegar like that lol. anyway his character isn't abt being a good or a bad king, it's abt being a would-be-king for characters in books and readers in reality to sigh over his tragic aura and pretty aesthetic abt how it could've been. however, grrm clearly doesn't write rhaegar as evil or incapable as some parts of the fandom would want to try to persuade others. realistically speaking in the scenario where he wins there couldn't be any perfect decisions but it's a territory of speculations on thin air and lit nothing more since canon doesn't provide us with enough information to rlly theorize anything instead of building biased headcanons some ppl call "analysis".

but remember what barristan said about rhaegar while practically watching him all his life, from a literal baby to the man grown:

omg well I have a few (lol what else is new am I right?) but these are the main ones for the nickxziggy little corner of our fandom:

the hades and persephone AU one shot, tentatively titled "you believe god is a woman"

I believe I talked to you about this one but I wanna write a one shot where nick visits ziggy right after killing Ryan and he's just searching for sympathy. (potential titles include did the twin flame bruise paint you blue? or I had a dream that you were mine)

part 3 of my priest nick universe. also the final part in that universe. (stuck between take me to church or I worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies for a title)

off in the very far horizon I do want to take a crack at one of the time loop AU's. preferably Nick in 1978, the one we talked about a while ago but idk (also if that's okay with you) (potential title includes you will find me, time after time - cheesy I know but it fits)

and also - and this is a very random thought I had recently - I was thinking of writing a brief flash forward/one shot/sequel to "this love is treacherous" from Rory's pov. idk about that one though. (tentatively titled (in my brain) on this harvest moon)

(edited) oh and another one shot for my five moments series where ziggy almost cracks and calls/contacts nick in the intervening 16 years. tentatively titled every time I don’t, I almost do

I plan on writing part 3 of priest nick and the hades&persephone au before catching up on my two wips for nick and ziggy bc I haven't updated them in so long and then maybe, maybe, I can work on the other ones. maybe. we shall see. I'm working a lot nowadays.

P: What draws you to a story idea? (Example: themes, a fun character, Aesthetic, etc.)

Good question! usually I'm really drawn to the idea of character arcs. like with 'this love is treacherous" or "and satan said". I just really like starting a character off somewhere and having them end in a really different spot. also themes too. aesthetic for the priest nick one lmao

Q: Do you write ideas down by hand, have computer/phone notes, or just hope you remember ideas?

eh, mostly I just keep them in my brain. sometimes I discuss them with someone and that usually imprints them in my mind. often times I'll open a document and make a title and then write a little bit because usually I think of a scene/piece of dialogue or description first.

T: Have you done/would you do NaNoWriMo?

I haven't done NaNoWriMo. Idk if I could bc November tends to be a busy month for me with school. if it was a summer month, maybe? idk.

BF: What is one question you have always wished someone would ask about your story/writing/character? Answer that.

okay so a question that's been on my mind recently is if I regret any choice I made while writing and ngl, for a while I regretted Ziggy having a kid at the end of "this love is treacherous". Tbh I'm still a bit ambivalent about that decision now mainly because a) I don't want to make it seem like a woman has to have a kid in order to get themselves in line or something (kids shouldn't be used to fix ur problems or prevent addiction/depression) and b) Ziggy was in a really broken place after the end of the story. She's very strong don't get me wrong, but there's a part of me that wasn't entirely convinced she was ready to become a mom after losing Nick and his betrayal. And also I like the symbolism of her deciding to move on for herself/on her own and just kind of learn who she is again?

Lol I'm making it seem like I really hate the choice I made - I don't for the record, I've just dabbled a lot in unexpected pregnancies for nick x ziggy and in every one she's decided to keep it (which is a valid choice of course) but I think thematically for that story either one suited her.

*So John’s asking what it’s about and trying to figure out what’s going on while also thinking of ways to help Blyke out of this

*And then the police say how his charge is vigilantism and John just kinda panics

*Bc yeah, Blyke told him about being a vigilante and John gave him so much shit for doing that just to get strong enough to kick his ass

*But he didn’t think Blyke got caught

*So Blyke gets taken away and put in a holding cell for the night

*John really panics once he hears that Blyke’s going to the readjustment classes

*His brain is firing at a mile a minute and he tries to think of a way for Blyke to get out of it but also thinking of tips to help Blyke get through it worst case scenario

*It ends with John going to the police station to see Blyke before he’s taken to the classes and he runs into Keon, literally

*Keon’s completely shocked bc John’s always been so careful since his classes but now John just bumped into him and now he’s glaring him down

*John doesn’t even have to say anything bc it’s very obvious the he’s letting Keon know that he could ruin him if he needs to

*Blyke ends up only having 1 week of readjustment classes and when he gets out he says he was just left alone for a long time

*John kinda feels really powerful bc while he knows logically his run in with Keon didn’t change anything, he feels like it did at least a little bit
