The list goes on. However, idk for sure if Quackity is gonna talk abt this, all he tweeted was "going live later" basically.

(and aaaa, I'm flattered to hear you are binging my channel, thank you!! its funny (but nice!) hearing a compliment on my audio bc I am self-concious about it and think it is not the best, hahaha)

I use OBS Studio for recording, which I think is pretty standard. But I do my video editing in Vegas Pro which idk if its common (I think people usually use adobe these days?) but I used a pirated version of Vegas to make AMVs back when I was a teenager so that was what I went with XD

I do have a decent PC but also play with low cc when I am recording for Youtube, as the game runs a little smoother and doesn't lag too much, which I think looks nicer on video! I also delete all my raw footage after I have finished editing/rendering as the files can get pretty big

edit: forgot to include this (idk if useful) but my OBS settings are set to recrod at 60FPS at a resolution of 1920x1018

I do use a mic! My first few videos were just recorded on a cheap bluetooth headset I used for work but the sound quality was pretty bad, haha. TBH I don't know much about mics, my partner is a musician and has a bunch of mics & equipment so I just borrowed his stuff lol! The mic is an Audio Technica AT2020 condenser microphone and its plugged into a M-Audio M-Track Solo USB audio interface (as the mic wouldnt plug into the PC otherwise, the interface also lets you adjust the gain which is nice) but idk if you really need something that fancy. I usually see people reccommend the Yeti mic for YouTube, which doesn't need an audio interface, idk if it is actually good or not but it seems like a popular choice?

Although if you are just starting out, I would not invest in any expensive mics or anything right off the bat - since you want to see if you actually enjoy the process of making videos first before spending any money on it! (For me at least I spend a LOT more time editing footage than recording it, it's very time consuming, although I think some creators do a lot less editing so its a style preference maybe). IMO Just start out with whatever you have and you can always upgrade later.

Also, the main thing I learned quickly which I think helped me about as much as using a better mic was having good "mic discipline". That's like, making sure your head/mouth is always the right sort of distance away from the microphone, making sure its positioned properly, trying to keep the volume you speak consistant, etc. I am still not always the best at this tbh! but am getting better :D

Oh boy, yeah I daydream a lot haha - usually I get an idea and write down the bare info for it (like the ship and maybe one or two scene ideas) and then I just let it marinate for a bit, usually listening to music or reading! Then ideas usually pop in from there XD I'm a daydreamer all the way

Usually it's just whichever one I feel needs attention at the moment? Or whatever my brain latches onto haha

16. talk about your writing and editing process

okay so usually i tend to edit in 5k stints (unless it's a short fic, in which case i'll just write the whole thing first) so every 5k or so i'll stop and reread/edit what i have so far. i pretty much always reread 3 times: once to see the general vibe of what i have/catch obvious mistakes, once to make proper changes, and then once to double check spelling/grammar errors etc after making said changes. and then i'll reread the whole thing in full once (but maybe twice) before posting.

i also always write in chronological order but i don't like making outlines/plans so i'm very much a 'follow the vibe' writer in that sense askdjfh

17. if you keep them, share a deleted sentence or paragraph from a published fic

okay so i don't think i actually have any deleted scenes from a published fic??? it's rare i'd change/remove a scene entirely so i don't tend to keep them but i did start writing a fic after 7x01 that basically immediately became irrelevant with the bi buck arc and i apparently still have that on my laptop, so here have that instead lmao:

Breaking up with Natalia feels…anticlimactic.

When he’d wanted to break up with Taylor he’d drawn it out for weeks. Months, if he’s being honest. Because he was afraid to be alone. Because a silent, selfish part of him was hoping she’d do the hard part for him. Because she was supposed to be it.

Even though it was glaringly obvious that she wasn’t.

When they ended he told himself he wasn’t going to rush again. He didn’t want to make the same mistakes. Didn’t want to pick the wrong couch again.

But then Natalia had looked at him with so much fascination. She took on all his shit, all his trauma, and she didn’t flinch. If anything, it seemed to make her like him more.

The problem is that it seemed to be the only thing she liked.

And it’s probably not a fair assessment of her because she really is nice and beautiful and smart but the more time they spend together, the more he feels like she doesn’t really like him. She likes the version of him she’s put together in her head. The version he’d let her create in all those early conversations.

I feel like she sees me.

He told Eddie that after his first date with her.

It’s embarrassing to think about that now, with the slightly awkward but still civil breakup conversation replaying in his head.

He thinks it’s that, that might be throwing him for a loop so much – that she hadn’t seemed to mind when he explained he didn’t think things were working out. She was a little disappointed but she didn’t try to fight him on it; he supposes she’s used to dealing with endings in her line of work.

And now he’s wondering how he could’ve let himself get sucked in again, how he could’ve convinced himself all over again that he’d found the one by falling too hard, too fast.

Eddie says, “What’s the point in dating if you don’t think that you might end up together in the long run?” when Buck brings it up over dinner at his place after the Chris dating intervention.

Buck throws his balled up napkin at him and says, “Sorry, I forgot I was asking the nester.”

Eddie rolls his eyes but doesn’t bite back, reaching for another slice of pizza. “I’m just saying. Isn’t the whole idea that you date someone in the hopes that they’ll be the person you spend the rest of your life with?”

“Is that what you think about Marisol?”

Eddie immediately makes a face and Buck feels privately vindicated.

He shouldn’t; it’s not fair. Marisol is nice and Buck has no reason to dislike her but the ghost of Ana Flores still lingers in the back of his mind.

“It’s a little early for me to know that,” Eddie says.

Buck scoffs. “But you just said-“

“I’m not saying I don’t see a future with her,” Eddie cuts in. “Just that I don’t know what that future is yet.”

The words make something sour twist in Buck’s chest and he takes a swig of his beer to dispel it. He’s happy for Eddie, happy that he’s putting himself back out there because he deserves to fall in love again. There’s just…a part of him that doesn’t like it when Eddie’s in a relationship.

Which is incredibly fucking stupid and possessive and something Buck would go to his grave with before he’d ever admit it out loud.

He just feels like they drift apart when they’re not single – not even because they don’t see each other all the time. It’s more like they don’t know how to interact with each other. He doesn’t know why or, well, it’s not exactly a thread he likes to pull on all that often.

It hasn’t happened much yet with Marisol but she and Eddie seem to be taking things slow.

Buck counts it as a small miracle and redirects the conversation to the point he’d first been trying to make.

“I just don’t know how I got it so wrong again,” he says. “With Natalia, I mean.”

Eddie’s expression immediately softens and he leans forward, propping his forearm on the dining table and pulling himself closer to Buck.

“You didn’t do anything wrong,” Eddie tells him, as gentle as every other reprieve he’s ever offered Buck.

Yeah, I know you did.

I knew you wouldn’t.

You’re the guy who likes to fix things.

He thinks at the time it felt good because she was the only one not treating him with kid gloves. He can recognise now his family probably had a pretty good reason for treating him that way.

Eddie doesn’t respond right away but Buck can tell he’s thinking of an answer, choosing his words carefully

agajjddhkfksjdksl thank you sm!!!! next chapter is almost done, and i think ppl will like it! but i'm also suspicious bc it seems ready to post with minimal editing, which makes me think i've missed something. so i'm combing it for any issues before i commit to uploading the next chapter😅

generally i start all my fics with a scene i really want to write, and then i build a story around it! i usually have an idea of the plot as a whole including the beginning and ending before i start writing. i make brief notes of scenes or plot ideas during this time, and decide on the crucial moments.

if i'm writing and posting the fic as i go, i'll keep a separate document of story ideas and gradually work them into main document. this includes small fluff details like Y/N getting their hair ties stolen by Moon - it's not essential to the story but it's fun :3 this is what i'm doing for my mer fic!

i used to write fics all in one go before posting! i'd write a notes version of the entire plot first, each plot point no longer than a single line. then when i'd finish, i'd start again from the top writing the notes into a story, deleting the notes as i go down. now i actually prefer writing and posting together, bc i get to see everyone's reactions as the fic unfolds in real time!

sending this on anon bc i don’t need the drama rn but the person who called buck a bad friend on your post earlier once called me a wiki-vandal bc i posted the screenshots of buck’s wiki page calling t*mmy a plot device (this can probably very easily traced back to my blog but whatever 🤷)…. i don’t usually like to call out other blogs because it often causes more issues than actually solving them but they are one blog that notoriously worship t*mmy over everything else on the show and i honestly don’t mind saying that at this point. i thought they had blocked me because the reply disappeared before i could laugh and delete it myself but apparently they deleted it on their own.

they’re also notorious for calling buddie shippers biphobic for not shipping buckt*mmy too so they just have a complete disregard for media literacy and critical thinking.

I'm sorry you've had to deal with them sending you hate. A friend of mine in fandom got sent hate too just for reblogging that wiki post. The ridiculous thing with that wiki article joke is if one of them did it and edited it to say T*mmy was Buck's husband or whatever and we got upset over it they would have told us it was just a joke and to get over it. Yet they were getting pissed at people just for sharing screenshots.

I'm so happy that Buck has come out (especially since I'm also bi and we desperately need more bi characters) but I swear fandom has been more toxic and more negative since it splintered off into that group of T*mmy worshipers. I've seen the posts calling anyone who doesn't support B/T biphobic I can't help but laugh though because they tell us we make everything about Buddie and they've made every thing about T*mmy. They've even made Buck's coming out all about T*mmy way more than any of us who've said we want to see Buck with Eddie ever did.

100% agree on them having no media literacy and a lack of critical thinking. I'm convinced whatever show they're watching is entirely different than the actual show. Some of the takes they have after an episode and the way they talk about B/T you'd think it was Buck and T*mmy who had the six years of history between them instead of Buddie.

hi! do you happen to have any tips/advice for creating pixel art? i'm a huge fan of your work and have always wanted to do pixel art myself but i've found it pretty difficult to understand x_x

Hihi!!! Giving advice is hard because I kind of live by the "fuck it, we ball" way of life but I'll try my best!!!

Not necessary in all cases but I think page sizing is important!! I used to draw on like 3000x3000 canvases now I think I only reach that with refs... I think in general it's easier on smaller canvases, and if you need to size up for posting sake, Photoshop can do it [or I think there's sites that can as well?]. If you're wanting to do certain things [icons/icos, rpgm assets, whatever], they do tend to fit into certain constraints so thats important!! Similarly, there's nothing wrong with drawing something on a 1000x1000 canvas and then scaling down the image to 100x100 and lining over it!!

I tend to sketch with non-pixel brushes first unless I'm lazy, just because I feel it makes it easier!!

A small thing that I'm trying to take heed of too is going back over artwork and deleting some pixels to make the lines less "clumpy" (ofc, it depends on style too! I like thin lines usually though, especially on things that are 48x48 to maximize space!!)

I draw (mainly) in Sai and MediBang (for mobile). Things like MediBang and CSP also have downloadable brushes, which for things like screentoning I find important!! [Usually, I'll draw in MediBang or Sai, edit further in CSP]. For Sai, I just use the standard Binary brush and an edited version as an eraser:

For MediBang, I just go into settings and check "Turn off anti-aliasing" and use the normal pen brush and eraser; Only word of advice though it it does create some not fully solid pixels, but you can either go over them or duplicate the image a whole bunch and then combine the layers.

As for further stuff I think it's also just important to look at things you like!! What started me into pixel art was playing a lot of rpgmaker games [Ib, Yume Nikki, Mad Father, The Witch's House, ectect] Now I also like things like the art of older systems and games, like TokiMeki Memorial 1994 has some beautiful artwork:

And the pixel sprites in all the BlazBlue games has been really inspirational in the last couple of years for me as well!!!

the free version of the CapCut App (which i use when my phone's Gallery App just won't work, bc the editing needs to be too precise or something)

ezgif.com (is especially great for converting videos to gifs, examining and messing with frames of your project, converting the "gif files" creators' attach to their youtube Community Tabs post called "webpage files" to gifs, and a few editing needs that Capcut or my phone's Gallery App just won't work with. like ezgif can get REALLY PRECISE and gritty about exactly where you want the beginning and ending of a video/gif to be, down to the hundredth and thousandth+ Decimal Place. which is soooo useful lol just make sure you have the item you want to edit downloaded; some of the "insert the image/video's URL" options havent been updated to recognize the changed URLs of sites like youtube and whatnot)

KnowYourMeme.com (very helpful for both finding niche memes if youre like "i really want some more Scooby Doo memes. let me look up the show on this website to go through its 'related meme entries' tabs". it's like TV Tropes for memes. it's also helpful for finding meme templates, finding out if someone did a variation of a meme already so you can reap the benefits while not having to make it yourself (eg. looking for a Doctor Who variation of the "Is that a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure reference?" meme), and more)

remove.bg (it deletes backgrounds for you. and you can download your image either as a transparent png or you can tell the website to download the image with a background, to which i typically use a solid black or white the rare time i don't want a transparent png. my favorite thing about it though is, if the auto-generator is wrong in any way, you can manually guide it on what you want erased and what you dont; and you can use their "magic brush" (AI trying to understand what you want to erase/store) or you can "turn off their magic brush" for something that follows your exact "erase/restore this pls" scribbling and does add intelligence to what you mean. i switch between turning on/off magic brush often, it's so helpful lol) (the sister-website this has for videos isn't good though, i do not recommend that one at all. at least how it is as of writing this in August 2024)

imgonline's specific "combine two images into one by putting them side-by-side" tab (it lets you put them side-by-side, what can i say. it does it by either connecting them landscape-style or connecting them vertically, depending on what you choose. the only setting i change, beyond the obvious "do i want landscape or vertical?", is i make the images the png-option. highly recommend you "Open The Image" to check it is what you want before you "Download The Image" bc sometimes i click the wrong toggle. i know i could just use Canva instead, but ive been using imgonline before Canva was around, personally, so it's a habit)

pinetools' specific "combine two images into one by overlapping the smaller one to be ontop of the larger one" tab (this is so helpful for my phone's Gallery App. bc it has a size limit on how small a "sticker from my photo albums" can me. so what i do is i go to pinetools with my ever faithful companion, WikiCommon's HD Transparent Large Image. i have the transparent image be the biggie, insert the file of my "too small image" to be anywhere on top, and wham-bam-yes-m'am, now my Gallery App will allow the the combo to be a sticker. love this for me specifically)

imagecolorpicker (helps me pick a color from an image to use as a hexcode, helps me find a photo-color scheme i can steal, etc. it's a great tool to use for anything that will accept a hex-code (but may/may not allow a tear-drop, or maybe you want a color from x-image to put into y-project and so the teardrop tool may be ineffective across tabs), such a great website)

9: Would you say your style has changed a lot since you first started creating? oh for SURE. regardless of what i consider my start bc i used to gif from like 2015-2017 and then i didn't start up again until april of 2023. this time around, i have learned SO much, and i'm sure part of that is just bc of how much gif styles have changed in the last 6-8 years, but also bc i joined a couple gifmaking networks and have gotten so much help through them, found so many resources, and learned tons! to compare, here's one of the sets i was proudest of from Back In The Day. now, it's definitely not horrible, but the coloring and the slow framerate make me borderline homicidal. this one is marginally better, and i remember thinking i was really Doing Something with that typography 😂 here are some of the sets i made early on in my Return to Gifmaking this past April/May. this was one of the first times i'd ever combined multiple gifs into one and girl. what the fuck happened. why are the framerates Like That? what is this typography? i had no business making early l&o gifs 540px wide bc the quality is bad enough at 268px 💀and i think this one is a good example of i got the spirit! the execution just wasn't quite there. i like the main gif with the overlay of the sky, but i'd do the typography very differently and idk if i'd do it in b&w? i could try and remake it tbh, it's been 9 months since i made and posted it.

action 2: sharpening (two smart sharpen layers) + vivid sharpening (i used this tutorial and i usually keep that folder at 30% but sometimes drop it down to 10-15%)

coloring! it depends on what i'm giffing, but i color everything from scratch at least the first time. i save a LOT of my psds, like there's one psd that i use for almost all my tfothou gifs, a couple for hill house depending on the tint of the scene i'm giffing, one for law & order that sometimes needs to be adjusted just a little, one for the good wife, one or two for satc, etc. but they're all psds that i created myself.

typography (if applicable) which almost always involves scrolling through the entire list of fonts just to use one of my go-tos

as for general organization, i'm organized on my computer to a near-ridiculous standard, but it works for me lmao. my psds, templates, and project psds (where i save an entire finished gif if it's for a larger, complex set and then never get rid of them lmao), and all overlays, textures, icons, graphics, transitions, etc. are meticulously organized. my finished gifs are also organized into their own folders.

27: What’s your favourite font to use? in general, monsterrat. i use it for everything in google docs, and it's my fave sans serif to go with serif or script fonts. when i'm using it for giffing, i usually use semibold.

Steve stomps away from the counter, little white paper bag in hand. 

The pharmacist’s ‘Have a nice day!’ ringing in his ears like the most annoying alarm set to disturb him in the middle of a heavy sleep. 

He pushes the clinic doors open with too much force, already clicking on Robin’s contact. It only rings once. 

“Its fucking gonorrhea.” he rushes out as soon as she answered. 

He props his phone up with his shoulder so he can fish around the bag for the pill bottle so he can discard his shame that is in the form of the telling pharmacy paper bag in his hand. 

“Shucks, I was rooting for an unplanned pregnancy.” Steve whines as she snorts on the other end and if Steve wasn’t on the verge of tears, he’d have something snarky to say back. 

“No shit it’s gonorrhea! That’s what happens when you go around throwing your hole at anybody who even shows a vague interest in you.” Slander, Steve thinks. This is just slander.

“I only showed my hole to one guy! One hook-up! The celebratory ‘I’m single so let’s see some new peen’ hook-up.” About two weeks ago, Steve finally ended the weird situationship with the guy he’d been hooking up with on the regular. Regular being used loosely in this case, considering he kept ghosting, only coming out to haunt Steve’s call log any time between 11pm and 3am. But Steve was hung up and didn’t want to keep being a booty call, not for someone he started to have actual feelings for. 

“And then I go and pick the one who has the fucking clap!” he whisper-screams into the receiver. Robin’s hollering like a fucking hyena on the other end. He pulls the pamphlet on safe sex out of the bag, along with the orange pill bottle as he walks directly into someone, sending both of the objects flying out of his hands and onto the ground.

All of his athletic ability proving to be pointless as the stranger beats him to the pill bottle, rolling away.

Robin's laugh is the backdrop to the most embarrassing moment of his life, as the stranger (who is stupidly hot) picks up both the bottle and the pamphlet, his face screwing up into a knowing smirk.

Of course he has the most gorgeous set of brown eyes, shaggy hair not being able to cover up the notch in his brow, which is suggestively quirked up at Steve as he checks him out. Right there, no shame, in front of the damn clinic. Holding his STI meds.

"I think you're gonna need these."

Steve wishes whatever is in control of the universe would strike down and kill him, here and now.

"Thanks." He snatches his things, eyes on the ground in an attempt to hide how red he knows his face is.

Steve shoves the bottle into the pocket of his jeans, crumpling the pamphlet up in his hand as he speed-walks the hell away from the guy.

I'm a smaller blog so this might not go far, but I figured I could add in some more info that's more in depth. (mainly bc i have adhd and cannot be succinct no matter how hard i try)

when changing your icon, please don't make it a real person unless it is some fun image of a very recognizable celebrity. most people see the default icon or an icon of an irl person and block and report on sight

you may see this elsewhere, but please turn off/snooze tumblr live and don't use it. you can do that in settings>dashboard>preferences>snooze tumblr live. it only lasts for 7 days and you have to go back in every week and turn it off and on again.

While you're technically fine to use it, it steals a lot of data to the point that isn't present in certain countries due to their privacy laws

@.Staff is of course the staff's tumblr blog where they will mention big things to tumblr. From what I've seen, it's mainly for show and getting upset and mentioning them in a post won't do much.

they also have @.support as well as @.changes as other blogs. I recommend at the very least following the latter as they post every tuesday and friday with what changes and bugfixes have been made as well as what they are aware of and are trying to fix or stuff that may be upcoming.

people are most likely to reblog and put stuff in their tags as their comments on the post, but reblogging and actually adding a piece to the post is fine too. Usually that's done when you want to add content to the post that will hopefully be used going forward as tags only exist on your reblog and disappear when someone reblogs from you.

As said, Likes are similar to saving a post. Think of them as bookmarks in a way. One way I've found they work best is for people's compilation posts as likes will change along with any edits made to the post (or the specific reblog you're looking at) while reblogging saves the specific version you see and will not change even if the OP changes it or even deletes it.

I believe while there's technically no karma limits for reblogging as you can reblog anything you see, whether from being posted a minute ago or from years and years ago, there is a post/reblog limit. But I think it's like, 250 a day and I've never personally managed to reach that.

You don't *need* to make a second account or anything as you can make sideblogs. sideblogs are connected to your account but are otherwise just like every other blog. You can make one to reblog all the fun stuff you see with no regard for theme while having another that's a fandom specific blog, and another where you just post original content.

The only big difference between main and sideblogs is that if you like, reply, or send an ask, it will always show up as your main blog. You can reblog to any of your sideblogs, and you have messaging for each individual blog, but those first three are always linked to your main blog

along with your account and dashboard settings, you also have settings for each individual blog. Your main blog will have options to show off the posts you have liked and the blogs you follow

all the blogs will have options for people to send asks, submit posts, messaging, visibility, etc etc. these are unique to each blog so you can allow asks in one, but none for another. Asks and submissions also have extra options for allowing people to send things anonymously so they could hide their account or send without having an account.

Also, please enable the custom theme for your blogs. If you want to actually customize your theme, you are free to, but there is a default 'custom' theme in place when you turn it on. There's still a few things that are sort of broken with the non-custom themes so it's helpful to have the custom theme. Plus, people can look at the default or the custom theme based on their preferences and aren't just limited to the dashboard styled default.

Because I see someone asking in the post's replies, to turn off the algorithm, the options are in settings>dashboard>preferences along with the tumblr live switch. the toggle itself is labeled 'Best Stuff First' and turning it off makes your dashboard appear in reverse chronological order (most recent stuff first, getting older as you scroll down)

Just because It might not be clear to new people (i've been on here for years, so don't know what tumblr tells you when you make you account) the icons you'll see in the top right on desktop are as follows:

- House icon is the dashboard. this is where you see all the posts of people you follow. If you have 'stuff in your orbit' 'based on your likes' and 'included followed tag posts' turned on, you will intermittently see some of those woven into your dashboard. these will be labeled as such and also won't be in chronological order like the rest

-Compass icon is the explore page. this is where you can see stuff from today (reblogged from @.todayontumblr), stuff the site thinks is for you, what is trending (which lists the top few trending tags, which i can only ever see 8 of), staff picks, and then 'more' is to see top posts based on type of post (ie: text post, photo post, videos, music/sounds, etc)

-the other house looking icon with the decorative roof is the tumblr shop 'tumblrmart', which is a drop down menu to buy things for your tumblr blog (mainly badges) or real life merch like tshirts, water bottles, stickers, etc

-Envelope is your ask box. this is where you will receive the asks people send you, and also responses to your own asks as long as you didn't enable asking anonymously. these can be divided based on your blog.

-Chat Bubble icon with the smiley face is your messages. You can see your messages with other users, and clicking on your own blog name will let you swap between your blogs.

-Lightning Bolt icon is your notification feed. this will tell you when someone reblogs or likes a post from you. you will get this if they are reblogging or liking a post you reblogged, but you will also get notifications for posts you make and when they are liked/reblogged from other people's blogs. This will also tell you when someone follows you, posts a reply on on of your posts, or mentions you by putting an @ before your blog name. (note the @ can appear in a post or in replies, but shouldn't work in tags). Click on the little spike graph to see more in detail

-The Person icon is a drop down menu for your account. this is where you can get to your likes, who you're following, your settings and your blogs. your blogs have their own sections to see their posts, followers, etc. The main drop down also has the logout button (if for some reason you want to use that (/joke)) but it also has dashboard themes(change palette) and keyboard shortcuts. if you see someone take a screenshot of a post and it is colored differently from what you see, that's probably because they use a different theme.

Theme 1 is the default, 2 is dark mode, 3 is low contrast blue. Those are the most basic ones and then the others are more fancy. 4 is Cement which is white background with light gray for everything else (essentially light mode). 5 Cybernetic is black with neon green text and accents. 6 Canary is essentially Cement, but in light yellows instead of bright whites and very light grays. 7 Ghost is even brighter than cement, going for a pure white other than black text, and any colored things being red. 8 Vampire is similar to dark, but with red accents and also a serif font. 9 Pumpkin also has a serif font that gives you dark oranges and purple accents on a black background as well as orange text. 10 Snow Bright is ghost without the red accents instead making those a light gray. 11 Goth Rave is dark purple on a black background with purple and blue accents with most text being purple but some as blue. and finally 12 Pride a bright neon pink background, white backed posts with purple text, other text being a bright yellow for a pink lemonade vibe on the pink background, and 0 0 255 blue for buttons. All of 12 is super super saturated.

With all the shortcuts, the ones to use most are J and K to scroll down and up 1 post at a time. Very helpful with long posts, but these only really work on desktop. Sorry to users on the app or on mobile browser.

A tumblr users suggest switching to Firefox. You don't have to, but just be aware you might see that here and there, like for certain extensions. They can be found on other browsers, but tend to work best on Firefox for Tumblr. Mainly since most other browsers actually still track you when you're incognito and are breaking ad blocker. Either way, check out the aforementioned XKit Rewritten.

No one cares about follower count. No one can see your follower count unless you take a screenshot and post it. And Honestly, sometimes less followers is better. You could make 1 post that gets thousands of notes, but still get few followers from it while your other posts are getting at most ten notes.

And also I'm going to say it again, treat Likes like they are saves or bookmarks. People can hide their likes so the only person who knows you liked it is the people who made the post and whose specific reblog you liked. It is you taking a thing you like and putting it in a chest of things you like for only you to see. It gets the post notes, but not much else. Reblogs are what you should do. If you have a blog theme and it doesn't fit, make a side blog for all your reblogs.

While Likes get notes on a post, it only goes so far. A person can make a post and then 3 of their followers like it, and then that's it. But if one of their followers reblog, then their followers see it, and then theirs see it. so on and so forth. You are most likely to see reblogs and most content people follow you for is going to be reblogs. Reblogs are the lifeblood of Tumblr and it is how the site functions, so it won't work as well without them.

Also, while you can post just pure original content, Tumblr leans into fandoms and also sort of absurdist humor. A lot of posts will reference other posts that got reblogged so much that it's a site wide inside joke (color of the sky, spiders georg, color theory, shoelaces, jpegs like dolls, etc etc.

Also I know it's unfortunately become recent tumblr culture, but please please please do not tag a reblog as 'prev tags' unless you are adding a screenshot of the tags to the post in your reblog or quote the tags in your own tags. When you reblog a post, your reblog can keep existing even if the one you reblogged gets deleted, so if that happens, people can go to look at prev tags and find tumblr saying 'there's nothing here. the post they reblogged or the tumblr they reblogged from no longer exists, so those prev tags also no longer exist'

That's all I can think of, but others can add on as well. Some people may not like new users, but that's only because new users don't know how tumblr works and it becomes obvious if you try to treat it like other sites (mainly like twitter, so you guys have a leg up coming from not there).

"reposting"(reblogging) old content doesn't matter. people can and will reblog the same post multiple times, including in a row

Alright, introduction post time!

So, first things first, hi! I'm 💜MidnightDawn💜 and I usually go by Midnight online. I use She/Her.

Now that that's out of the way let's talk about the fun stuff!

I run a Gacha Life/Club/Life 2/whichever is newest when you're reading this, Youtube channel where I mostly post music videos. (Link at the bottom of the post) Doing gacha is what got me into art in the first place because I needed to be able to draw to edit thumbnails and add things that weren't available in the app.

I'm also big into a lot of fandoms. (Cult of the Lamb, IWTV, The Life Series, Supernatural, The Magnus Archives, etc.) I tend to be more of an appreciator than a creator but I'm trying to draw more from things I like bc it's a good source of motivation and practice.

My goal is for this to mostly be a blog for my art but there's probably also gonna be other stuff bc I'm a person. I'm turning over in my mind starting some sort of Etsy or KoFi store but if that did happen it wouldn't be until next year at the earliest. If I end up going through with it I would probs also talk about that and like vending at cons/other events but that whole plan is still up in the air so we'll see.

I'll try to at least some what regularly post but I am both somewhat busy in my real life and also chronically ill (POTS is a bitch) so we'll see what happens!

I will not be answering any asks requesting money/donations if I don't know you personally.
