BNHA 426 raws spoiler. No entry if you don't want that. And don't expand my tags either.
Gosh I love this. Soba being Touya's favorite was a lovely punch in the heart.
Since the siblings were distant with each other, the first thing they wanted to know is what the other's favorite food was. It's their way of trying to connect after so long.
Like how Fuyumi made their family dinner that one time. They use food as common ground.
And like how soba is Shoto's favorite, and Shoto couldn't be understood by his siblings before as someone too far away, it's the same favorite food for Touya—a kid no one in the family could look straight at, or understand.
But after finding out their favorite food, the family has a small ground to start trying to reach out and understand that prodigy that once stood too far. Learning about soba was their way of trying to reconnect.
#i was right about touya being that black panelllll#i thought the todorokis all having scars was cool#THEN TOUYAS FAVORITE FOOD IS SOBA#gosh i love that punch to the heart it was so warm and OOF#the same feelings as watching julius and ferris kill subaru in arc 3. something about it just warms the heart when its also#twisting your guts in a way#spoilers#bnha#boku no hero academia#my hero academia#mha#bnha spoilers#mha spoilers#natsuo todoroki#touya todoroki#dabi#shoto todoroki#bnha 426#WHY DID THIS POST EARLY#i dont mind the first tag being visible bc other versions of 425 showed dabi apparently#which i only found out afterwards#was this just an early version of 425 then?#im on mobile so i dont know how many tags are visible. i just see 1 and a halg

hi! just wanted to say that i was recently looking for lore on the ferru ferri relationship so ur lore post is perfect timing and *chefs kiss* 🤌 i fully support ur unhingedness about them bc i'm getting there too LOL i would love to know more about the facts/lore/thoughts u have on them if u'd like to share ! :D
i actually need to thank you because it was the tags on one of your rbs + talking with another mutual that pushed me to finally finish and post. so thank you!! …and sorry for what's about to happen here. would i like to share more thoughts, YES I WOULD.
(eta: this thing is LONGER than the original and also significantly more unhinged. so like… fair warning.)
first of all here are an assortment of facts/links/quotes that didn't make the final lorepost cut:
about all those times ferru drops by the academy: for example, this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this.
then there is this classic roland garros 2011 "choose a player" questionnaire. ferru picked juanki for THREE separate answers: who would you share a nice bottle of wine with, who would you open a bar with, and—wait for it—who would you hit on girls with.
i mean, i get it. juanki's looks are ideal bait. i see it happen every day on tumblr dot com. but a truly unfortunate number of scenarios do immediately unroll before the mind's eye.
david ferrer's official 2004 atp media biography included "says his most inspirational player is countryman juan carlos ferrero"
juanki's official atp tour dot com bio includes this typically restrained ferru testimonial: "He was and is my best friend on the tour. He's a person that is very close to me... He’s a very humble and noble person." elsewhere: "He's an even better person than he is a player, which is very difficult."
(juanki's bio is a wholeass novella and ferru's is THE most bare bones bullet points. ferru stop being so fucking modest challenge!!)
juanki used to visit javea to play football with ferru and his hometown friends. ferru are you making your girlfriend hang out with your friendsgroup.
select topics from the david ferrer official forums: "stayed with juan carlos before leaving for the davis cup." (juanki himself was not called up.) "went to a nice restaurant with juan carlos and had paella." "spending new year's eve at juan carlos' hotel."
according to juanki's blog they would watch world cup matches together at ferru's house?? cute.
especially cute since juanki is a real madrid fan and ferru is a barcelona fan. (although he's more outspoken about supporting valencia cf.) here is an amazing photo of a clasico watch party in the cincy locker room.
honestly this is just some sponsor promo content but i am dying to know what the inside joke at 1:15 is about. what are you smiling about juan carlos. why is ferru trying not to laugh. answer me.
ok easy stuff out of the way. i'm just going to warn you in advance that there are a cool 3000 words under the cut so uh... brace yourself i guess. don't open on mobile. topics include:
some Narratives
thoughts on the dynamic (past)
101 reasons to love david ferrer
behind the music: juan carlos ferrero
thoughts on the dynamic (present)
i didn't link more than a few quotes but if you want sources for anything in particular just drop me a reply or an ask.
finally, in addition to Facts and Anecdotes this includes what is by definition rampant speculation because i don't know these guys and never will. we cannot fully know public figures, we are making the shadows on the wall of plato's cave kiss, you know the drill.
the Narratives
first of all. the opposite narratives of their careers are soooooooooo compelling to me. like, juanki was a child prodigy—junior world champion, junior roland garros finalist, bursting onto the pro scene age 19 and winning his first title just a month later. then clinching spain's first davis cup, roland garros sf-sf-final-title, us open final, world number one. all by age 23! expectations were through the ROOF.
…and then 2004 hit and he fell off a cliff and never recovered. (injury, mentality, and incredible bad luck, like oh this man is CURSED cursed. he missed multiple tournaments because of chicken pox.) in september 2003 he was world no. 1; 17 months later he was no. 98. he never did make it back into the top ten.
meanwhile, ferru was—i mean obviously he was talented. he won stuff in juniors. but no one was talking about him as the future of spanish tennis, yk? he even quit when he was 17… for a week. (lol.) he was inconsistent, vulnerable to meltdowns. he first appeared on most people's radars when he beat agassi in rome in 2003, but then not again until a brief spike in 2007—made the USO semis, made the master's cup final, world no. 5. and then he, too, slumped.
but he did not give up. ever.
he climbed out of the slump and just kept climbing up, and up, and up. the best year of his career was 2012-2013, age thirty—seven titles, masters title, roland garros final, world no. 3. the second-best was 2015, age thirty-two. top 10 for 292 straight weeks, 2010-2016. ferru is like. the ultimate proof of how dogged persistence pays off if you just. keep. trying. ← wow tumblr user alacants is he your favorite or something.
the arcs intersect in ~2008-2010, when they were especially joined at the hip. they're both struggling—juanki dropped out of the top 100 for the first time, ferru's treading water in the low teens and saying he'll never reach the heights of 2007 again—and both right on the verge of a revival. juanki won his first title in 5+ years in 2009, kickstarting an 18 month last-gasp renaissance that included davis cup hero, more titles, more finals, as high as no. 14. for a few weeks. ferru slowly and surely got his feet back under him. (he calls the dc 09 final a turning point.) around those back-to-back finals in 2010, they were hovering right around the same rank—juanki even jumped ahead a couple places. and then juanki's body finally called it quits, and ferru started to really take off.
so that window is probably the peak of the pre-retirement dynamic. what IS that dynamic, you ask? great question.
the dynamic (past)
first i must note that although i myself led the lore post with the quotes about how they've been friends forever, something i find super cute/funny is that there seems to be an element of historical revisionism at work there? like, ferru didn't come to the academy until he was 17 (1999, the year juanki went pro), and their hometowns aren't THAT close. and ferru spent a couple years in barcelona as well. so although they clearly knew each other from an early age, it's unlikely that they were like. besties. but if you ask them, it's oh yeah we've been friends foreverrrr.
anyway. dynamics, 2002-2012:
mutual security blanket
introvert (situational) 4 introvert (intrinsic)
senpai/kouhai
chronic patient/emotional support rescue dog
fighter/sacrifice
king/lionheart, where the king was overthrown 10 years ago and now they're living in exile and the loyal retainer is earning their keep by the sword—
what do i mean by 90% of this—ok, first, web 1.0 tangent: beginning relatively early in ferru's career there was a fan forum on his official website. ferrru, who in those days was blatantly uncomfortable with the fan/star dynamic, immediately set about trying to like. befriend everyone on it. no fans here, we're all just friends! he would post regular life updates and then hang around in the thread just. chatting. he would remember details like where posters lived and who their other faves were and TEASE them about it. he hosted a christmas dinner in his hometown for anyone who wanted to make the trip. this is obviously unsustainable past a certain point of success but while it lasted it was just. so charming.
so ferru took his self-appointed role as juanki handler very seriously. like, i joke about "xx news and publicity bureau," but ferru really was. he would regularly post updates about juanki's health and recovery progress. he would answer questions. juanki's fans would come to ferru for updates!! couple this with the comments about how they tried to enter the same tournaments and generally traveled together/stayed in the same hotels, along with juanki's incredible run of illness and injury, and it's just like. ferru is juanki's designated spokesperson, his interface with the cold cruel world, his shield arm/support animal.
mutually supportive, but also: ferru clearly gets a lot of validation out of doing things for other people. he is always describing himself in terms such as, "i'm nothing special, i just try to be a really good friend." this is an acts of service guy all the way down.
(you ARE special, ferru, listen to me and juan carlos—)
i do think it was an evolution—ferru especially credits juanki with supporting him in the early days on tour. so i see it as like... friendly face showing the new kid the ropes, giving him advice, and then suddenly they're pulling even, and then even more suddenly ferru is the one equipped to provide the support.
introvert (situational): namely, juanki describes himself as shy, but he loves being the center of attention. he doesn't act out to get it but he very much enjoys it when it comes. (early quote re: what he likes about tennis: "all the people cheering for me in the big stadiums.") (it's also worth noting that he was the youngest child and the much-anticipated only son. lmao.) at the same time the media describe him as reserved, and he visibly dislikes talking about personal stuff. direct quote: "you can see how uncomfortable he is talking about his family…"
so at first the press calls him "the monk of villena", he lives in the middle of nowhere, his lifestyle isn't flashy*, he's so humble, wow. but alllllso he loves fast cars and throwing parties at his hotel. he befriends other famous spanish athletes like sergio garcia and sete gibernau. and there are some wiiiiiiiiiild pictures from players' parties through the years.
(*the contemporary gossip was also that maybe he was out having a little more fun than he let on, lol.)
so maybe it's accurate to say he's doesn't like being out of his depth? doesn't like unfamiliar situations. but like—i have seen the records and they do not lie. juan carlos looooves being—sorry—doted upon.
(this btw is why someone dedicating their tournament victory to him in front of god and the city of valencia and everyone was probably what you could call an effective tactic.)
meanwhile ferru's favorite hobby is READING. he is famous for always having a book in the locker room. "i can get through 3 books in a 2 week tournament and i keep every book i read." (← man who ebooks were invented for.) his idea of a perfect day is going to the beach in his hometown ("the best beach in the world") with his family and his friends and then having paella. he's a cat person. he's perfect? SORRY. I'M TRYING SO HARD TO BE NORMAL. anyway genuinely think this is the person you would find in the corner at a party befriending the host's cat.
—ok fuck normal i need to talk about ferru some more.
some very normal thoughts about david ferrer
as a player ferru had uhhhhh well maybe it was an inferiority complex or maybe it was a self-defense strategy playing in the big four era or maybe he was just unbelievably hard on himself. but for a long time he was out there saying stuff like, i'm the worst player in the top hundred. i'm the worst player in the top ten.
the thing is. it's impossible to talk about ferru without bringing up the closet story. you can read it here. c. 2007 this was reported as like, a humorous character-building anecdote????? because ferru brushed it off ("once in there i didn't think much" <- bad sign!!!) and said things like "i learned everything from him, about tennis and how to be a person." ok ferru, but what if you learned the wrong things.
i mean, what do i know. i don't know any of these people, i'm (mostly) not here to pseudo-psychoanalyze. i just don't think it's UNrelated that ferru explicitly compared their eventual coaching split to a breakup and later implied that he should have cut the cord earlier but couldn't bring himself to do it. or that afterwards he started going to therapy, "personal, not sport," and says he wishes he'd started when he was 20.
he stayed with that coach until he was 31 btw. there is loyal and then there is whatever the hell this is.
how do you reconcile this with today's happy and well-adjusted davis cup captain? many possibilities, such as his very own family (they're so cute, they are so cute) and 20 years of personal growth. also probably the therapy. and tbf by the end of the career he'd already gotten a lot better about the self-deprecation. but he still has a worldview that is uh refreshing verging on eye-watering. he's repeatedly said that being a professional athlete doesn't make you particularly special or interesting. asked whether as a known reader he's thinking about writing a memoir: "I'm not that important and I don’t believe I can contribute that much to the society… there are so many people that can contribute much more." ← ferru STOP.
(speaking of the adorable family: although this post is mainly about silly shipping nonsense and not irl romantic relationships i DO think it's instructive that ferru appears to have dated exactly two (2) women in the entirety of his adult life. one gf age 17-26, one age 27-present. this man's natural mode is Devotion.)
anyway my main point here is that it probably felt real good to have someone on tour in his corner. someone who hadn't ever locked him in a closet.
(there is a lot more to unpack about ferru but if you're sitting here like "but what about uso 2008" or whatever trust me it's solely for the sake of not making this insanely long post EVEN LONGER and i am happy to share my thoughts upon request lol.)
some very normal thoughts about juan carlos ferrero
IN CONTRAST... one of the funniest things about revisiting old press is constantly hearing juan carlos ferrero described as "humble" when my man has a VERY healthy opinion of himself. this isn't a bad thing. it's arguably better than calling yourself the worst player in the top one hundred. it is however a problem when the person you feel threatened by is. rafa nadal.
i initially had an 800 word tangent here that has now been exiled to its own post. the short version of this is juanki got dropped in favor of rafa in the 2004 davis cup final and never forgot it, lol. a number of other perceived sins were committed including 1) rome 2008 media coverage 2) dc 2009 president's speech 3) valencia open 2013, how dare rafa spurn juanki's beloved child tournament. but really it was that rafa became who juanki was supposed to be. :(
juanki's got a lot of pride! another example: madrid master's 2008. yet again juanki is in bad shape. at no. 44 he just missed the main draw. so he asked for a wild card… and didn't get one. that was genuinely an insult considering he was the 2003 champion and that wc #3 went to (consults notes) fabio fognini, ranked 73. the spanish sports media were up in arms. juanki said he was so insulted that even if they offered him a spot he wouldn't take it.
…so when carlos moya pulled out they didn't waste their time. "he said he didn't want it so we gave it to someone else." oh, juanki.
(ferru's measured thoughts on this decision btw: "The absence of Juan Carlos Ferrero is outrageous and insane. This only happens in Spain. It's a huge tragedy and, above all, an injustice for a player like him, who's been number one in the world and previously won this tournament.")
so, juanki: proud, outspoken when he's angry, reserved when he's not. to the extent that when he started saying ferru was his best friend on circuit his fans were like wait. what. this is brand-new information.
you will notice that throughout this post there are a Lot of heart-on-sleeve quotes from ferru, and fewer from juanki. what happens is that when you don't talk about your feelings, they explode without warning in Grand Gestures. juanki LOVES a Grand Gesture. ferrufest 2k19 is the most notable but far from only instance, see also organizing special surprises at their special tournament. (the open letter is somewhere in the middle, i would be fascinated to know if he would have been that forthcoming if asked point blank. i mean, maybe so!!!! personal growth!!!)
sidenote, but imo you can see the exact same dichotomy at work with juanki and carlos, where he goes out of his way to reject the we're-like-family premise and then acts the exact opposite. ("i leave the father thing to his actual father." ok juan carlos.) he used to do the same thing wrt his own coach since childhood, "i wouldn't call him a father figure, that would be weird…" this is how you end up naming things after people and bursting into tears in public! ← the fact that he's a capital-c Crier makes it even more obvious.
you will ALSO notice that despite that 7-2 h2h juanki sure never had any problem with ferru. lol. the appeal presumably goes without saying of a friend who is shouldering his way in among the ~big four and STILL out here in the year of our lord 2009 saying things like, “[Ferrero] is one of the best players in history on clay… I think he can win Roland Garros again. Nadal and Federer will be there but Juan Carlos will be right there behind them. Why not?"
(fwiw i think all of this is very like… normal and human. it's why it's so fun to put him under a microscope.)
and what is also true is that no matter how much you think juanki's life is the academy, it's more than that. he is the academy. like it was founded specifically for him (well, his cohort of young players, of which he was far and away the most promising), and his coach included him in conversations about the Vision and the long-term goals from day one. he lived there with a ROOMMATE for years and years after going pro, despite owning like… a nice house in the city of valencia. (← maybe also a reason he didn't get married until well after retirement lmao.) so when he starts naming parts of the academy after you... it's a Big Deal.
—incidentally it must be comforting to have a ready-made identity on hand when "generational spanish tennis talent" turns out to go. not the way you thought it would.
hm not doing a great job avoiding the pseudo-psychoanalysis, am i. well. i tried.
thoughts on the dynamic (present)
dynamics, 2024:
will-they-won't-they x 20 years
(life) partners
✨✨✨ co-parents ✨✨✨
that one is so overwhelmingly dominant it sort of overshadows everything else. lmao.
king/lionheart STILL only now the one-time king has returned from exile to be an advisor to the new prince—
tbh now that they are both retired and both have their own families they are a little less codependent. normal best friends, i almost said, before remembering the fucking portrait commission. do you think that's hanging up in ferru's house???? i ask myself this every day.
what do i think has changed? ferru is (wonderfully) much less self-effacing. juanki successfully reinvented himself as a top coach. after juanki retired i think they finally started to relate as… i'm not saying they weren't equals before that but maybe to some people (ferru) it didn't feel like they were. and ferru is clearly in his element as dc captain, where his job is literally to be the entire team's emotional support dog. emotional support pack leader? once again: who needs hierarchy, we're all friends here. (he gave coaching a brief shot but it didn't stick—this my personal theory as to why. based on nothing other than intuition lol.)
hm this section is suspiciously resembling "ferru: the postscript." well we all see a lot of juanki, he's doing great lol. if anything i think having ferru around is good for him, keeps him from getting too martyred. every time ferru and carlitos TEAM UP to tease juanki is jfkldajf;l so delightful. (to modestly quote my own tag, "just two dogs yapping at their favorite cat.")
but shipping nonsense aside: i genuinely think it is really lovely and heart-warming to see two people who clearly mean so much to each other and are still such a big part of each other's lives after so long—even/especially despite the changes. some people grow apart. some people grow together. :)
and if you want to throw in twenty years of pining SO MUCH THE BETTER
--
christ that is. so much text. uhhhh hopefully this was informative/entertaining/morbidly fascinating, and everyone who reads it will feel mysteriously compelled to start including ferruero subplots in their sincaraz fic. :D?? :D????
you have SO many options. practically married. one-sided pining for many years. (whooo in this post sounds like they would do that.) MUTUAL pining for many years. practically married but haven't realized it. tour arrangement but they caught feelings. second-chance romance years after a youthful failed fling. the parent trap, starring carlitos alcaraz— [curtain falls as i am forcibly dragged from the stage]
#david ferrer#juan carlos ferrero#if you click on that keep reading cut you know exactly what you're getting into. so don't come crying to me.#made in valencia

Blog Post 4 - Self-Audit
The image above is my low-fidelity home page website sketches and some mobile homepage website sketches. My main navigation bar links on my website will be About Me, Work and Play. The projects to showcase in the portfolio include Dyslexia BC Logo and Branding Collateral Freelance Project, Biggest Trees of BC Infographic, Alcatraz Island Website, BC Ferries Logo & Branding Guidelines, Document Design (if approved by two companies) and Learning Dyslexia Branding and print collateral.
There are some gaps in content I need for my portfolio. For the Dyslexia BC Logo project, I will need to write a Rationale and take photos of physically printed merchandise. For the Alcatraz Island Website, I will need to write a Rationale and make mockups of the website on a computer. The BC Ferries Logo & Branding Guidelines will need to have reformatted images and a logo photoshopped onto a ferry boat and a revised rationale. Document Design from work will need a rationale with a clear description of the role I played in the project and imagery from the document. I will need to update my Linkedin banner to reflect my branding Revision on my portfolio website. I will need to update my work experience with Fairwind Creative and add my green graphic design course that I took in the summer. I am going to use the Twenty Twenty Three template found on Wordpress.
My potential domain names include catearnold.com, CateArnoldDesign.com and CateRainyArnold.com. Catearnold.com will be the easiest way for someone to quickly look up my website URL even if they hear my name through word of mouth and they know I spell my name with a C! However this Url might be taken. CateArnoldDesign.com will give me a direct hint at the type of work I do. However, the longer URL is a bit harder for someone to spell out. CateRainyArnold.com adds my unique and memorable middle name that works well and this likely is a URL that’s available. This URL also connects well with the logo I’ve created. When saying my Url to someone, they may have to rewrite the K for Kate as a C and they might spell Rainy with an E instead of a Y. I think to catearnold.com or catearnold.ca if the first isn’t available is my best option as a straightforward way of finding my portfolio.

hey y'all, i know some of you are in ldr and i was just poking around and noticed lovense's (normally v expensive) bluetooth sex toys are half off today (as of 1:11 am est on july 16 2023) x) fair warning, if you get one to use in public and you're not skinny and/or have a gut the bluetooth signal sucks and if it's a wearable one (attaches to your undies via magnets) it's a pain in the ass that said, i only have experience with the ferri and skinny folks seem to have only rave reviews for it, so i bring up long distance relationships bc they make vibes, plugs and dick massagers and all of them can be controlled from anywhere in the world by an (actually very good) mobile app, plus two toys can be synced to each other so you're experiencing the same thing
#i feel like i'm doing an infomercial and i'm not. just wish we'd had this stuff when jack and i were younger lol#i'm gonna end up buying the nora i can tell

Winter Madness Gulf Island Style!
November ended with a snowstorm on the 30th, followed by a wind storm on December 1st that resulted in our little island having a 24-48 hour power outage, (depending on which part of the island you live on), but even worse…the fibre optic cable snapped that spans a short waterway from another island to ours. This meant that we had: no phone, (landline or mobile), including no 911 emergency service calls, no cable tv, no internet, no data services…so no bank machines, no debit or credit card readers. Because a helicopter is required to put the new cable back in place, we had to wait for weather conditions to be right. In addition, there was work to do at either end of the span prior to the cable being reinstalled. We were without services for 5 days, but in fairness, the crews worked around the clock to get us back on track as quickly as they could. Big thanks to B.C. Hydro and the speciality cable repair companies.
Everyone had to resort to cash. We became a financial circular economy: we all paid cash everywhere we went, the stores returned the cash to the bank at the end of the business day, and it was given out again the next day so we could purchase things again! Meanwhile at the bank, the tellers were sitting by windows at regular desks, so they could get a sight line to a temporary cell tower set up at the nearby fire hall. They used mobile phones to stay online with colleagues at other branches on Vancouver Island to confirm you had the funds in your account before a person sitting behind a very secure, (irony here), office divider dispensed funds. It was quite ingenious really, and thanks to Coastal Community Credit Union for going the extra mile.
All was going well until B.C. Ferries yet again cancelled sailings. For almost 20 years we’ve lived here but the past year has been horrific in terms of reliability, and before you say, “well you chose to live on an island”, I will remind you that perhaps you chose to live across a bridge from where you work: how would you feel if the bridge was intermittently closed on a regular basis with no or little warning? In this case it was particularly bad, as the corporation sent out the usual disruption in service email…but none of us could get it. And for those people who went to Nanaimo to work, they couldn’t reach their ride at the other side, either because they were parked at the ferry parking lot, (and the emergency passenger service docked 1/2 way down the island from there because the emergency dock was damaged in a high tide event in the summer and frankly there seemed no sense of urgency to fix it), or they couldn’t reach anyone to pick them up because…yes we had no phone/wifi/data service. I particularly ‘enjoyed’ the part where BC Ferries said you could “submit your taxi receipt” for reimbursement: we have 2 taxis on our island. Then they put on a bus service, but you had to walk 700metres, (think 700+yds here American readers), up hill on a gravel road, in the dark, to meet the bus. I don’t think B.C. Ferries management has a clue what it all looks like.
Lest you think I’m capping on our ferry workers, or the terminal staff, rest assured I am not. I appreciate them coming to work. I appreciate the extra work they do cleaning the lots after it snows. I appreciate them a lot. However, I do not appreciate the B.C. Ferry Corporation. They have a work culture problem and they need to solve it. Often sailing are cancelled because they cannot get the crew, particularly the ones with tickets/licenses needed to operate. That’s because they’ve been unable to attract and retain staff. That’s a work culture issue: is it not feeling valued, not being fairly compensated, or something else? I don’t know, but it’s past time to solve it. As an educator I go to, if I closed the school with very little notice, and said, “come pick up your children. We may or may not be open tomorrow, or we may just offer every second class”, how long would people accept it?
So just as things were returning to normal, another record snowfall came, and brought with it record breaking cold temperatures. In a rare event, we were able to go snowshoeing on a Gulf Island: go figure! The temperature in the photo below is in Celsius/Centigrade.
And again…B.C. Ferries made a “scheduling error” and at 10:06pm they announced they were cancelling the last sailings of the night starting with the 9:40 pm sailing. Yes…there was no way home. This time they couldn’t get a last minute passenger boat, so people were stranded on Vancouver Island.
This time people were out of pocket for hotel rooms, (if they didn’t have friends or family to stay with, or if they could afford a hotel, and if there was availability). People were out Christmas shopping or socializing, kids were over in town, seniors on fixed incomes. This really was a horrific situation: shame on you B.C. Ferries.
So, that’s been December and the run up to Christmas. Here’s hoping for less extreme weather and more reliable ferry service for 2023.
Now I’ve got all of that off of my chest, I can move on in a more positive fashion. From my home to yours, Merry Christmas.

BC Ferries undermines the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms by its abuse against minorities.
Over the past 12 months authorities in BC have witnessed a surge of complaints against BC Ferries for discrimination and racism by BC Ferries staff. Various communities across the province have voiced their concern over the apparent different way BC Ferries interacts with people based on their look or background. “It is seriously troubling,” said one victim from Nanaimo, “The Trump effect seems to have gotten way over BC Ferries heads and they are violating our rights as citizens with their aggressive behavior towards people of immigrant background.” One man of indigenous background says he was threatened with a K9 dog and aggressively kicked out of the terminal for smoking a vape while a caucasian male was only given a warning not to smoke when he was smoking a vape. “They are treating us differently,” said the woman "and I hope someone does something about it soon, this is just not right and it is not what Canada is all about.” BC Ferries said every case is treated differently and declined to comment on the specific cases mentioned above.

Ah, so Ryoma and Takumi get to be absolute experts in the sword and bow respectively, while Leo will stare longingly at the Excalibur time we just picked up and never get to use it because I’m morally and aesthetically opposed to making anyone a dark mage/sorcerer in Awakening/Fates, just as I never have and never will class anyone as a grappler in 3H.
I wanted to use Morgan as a sorcerer and then I was like “that is my baby son he is not allowed to go into battle dressed like that” and now I look at Leo like “that is my baby brother he is not allowed to go into battle dressed like that” and I guess in Conquest I did make Owain a sorcerer because “that is my clown nephew and I don’t think I could stop him from going into battle dressed like that”.
I love picking up S-class weapons in Fates and just. straight-up not knowing what if any classes can actually reach an S in that weapon type to use it. Like cool, glad we found this amazing S-rank tome, maybe we can use it as a mantle decoration and Leo can stare longingly at it from afar.
#I made Morgan into a dark knight bc he had already inherited ignis from Robin#so I saw ‘still uses swords and tomes but has mobility to ferry his sister around the battlefield’#and then I went for it#now currently Leo is a dark knight who both murders AND ferries Takumi around the battlefield

a3 weekday morning routine headcanons bc i have brain rot
- anyways its chaos. there’s 20 fucking people in this dorm why wouldn’t it be - 7am sharp izumi is walking around the dorms banging pots and pans so the students + itaru can gtf up and get ready for the day
- azuma got his dorm soundproofed
-homare recites his poems very loudly and if that doesn’t get you up and ready then your name is tsuzuru and nothing will
-omi/and or tsuzuru (if he’s not in a writing coma) have been up makin breakfast for everyone. id imagine that those two and izumi cycle through breakfast duties -sakyo is up too being menacing enough to actually get the boys to leave their rooms - sakyo draggin itaru out of his room by the ponytail...
-taichi, without a doubt, always seems to be doing last minute homework on the breakfast table. its like a fucking curse -tsumugi is perched over the desk with him unhelpfully not giving him the answers, much to taichi’s pain - “i want you to figure out how to do this yourself so you can learn!” “yEAH WELL TSUMUGI ,THE BUS IS PULLING UP IN FIVE MINUTES I REALLY DON’T HAVE TIME TO LEARN THIS PLEASE JUST TELL ME WHAT PERPENDICULAR MEANS AGAIN” -juza and tasuku begging and pounding on the door to use the bathroom because banri and azuma are still in there
-sakuya can never find all of his uniform. either it’s his tie, his sweater, or his shoes that are missing, and they’re in new spots everyday
-(it’s kamekichi. kamekichi moves his uniform because hes a bastard)
-misumi always ends up finding the uniform (and other lost things) bc he’s constantly combing over the dorm for triangles. izumi pays him for his service with onigiri
-masumi has to be dragged out of bed by izumi, much to her dismay, because now she has a 16 year old boy with a bad case of morning breath attached to her ankle -kamekechi squawks out the time for everyone - kazunari vidoes the morning chaos and uploads them to his instablam. one of his highest rated videos is him filming kamekichi screeching out the time and someone off camera throwing a cushion at him and absolutely obliterating the bird. it was yuki
-citron is lining up bookbags and lunchbags by the door but they’re organized in such a way citron might as well of just dumped them on the floor and called it a day
-the absolute panic that ensues when kamekechi says the hanasaki bus and the ouka bus are pulling up. sakuya can't find his uniform, taichi is still doing his geometry homework, masumi hasn't eaten breakfast, and banri is still in the fucking bathroom
-all the boys run out of the dormitory one by one, citron and misumi handing them their bags while izumi counts them off - “one, two, three, four, five,- BANRI! GET OUT OF THE BATHROOM YOUR BUS IS HERE!” -if ur ready by certain times u can get different rides. 7:30 is when sakyo pulls out, thats the early ride. the buses come at 7:50, thats like the average time. beyond that is the itaru mobile and god knows when hes pulling out
-the hanasaki high drop off is set up so cars have to go through a big loop before dropping their students off. itaru hates that fucking loop with his entire life. there’s too many fucking cars and traffic is slow as hell. he swears to his PC that if fucking little timmy takes five minutes getting his bookbag out of the goddamn trunk of his mommy’s car again itaru is just going to floor it.
-itaru has had to sign in the late students so many times that the old lady secretaries know him by name. some of them flirt with itaru and he’s never been more uncomfortable in his entire life. -when taichi and banri r late they use the “morning acting practice ran late” like a fucking crutch
-tasuku doesnt drive anyone in because his role is to ferry all the shit the students forgot at home to the schools
-st. flora's starts an hour later so muku and yuki go up into the practice room and wait with hisoka until the morning chaos has subsided
-while the st. flora boys are getting ready winter troupe + misumi and citron are on clean up duty to get the dorms looking back before the morning tornado swept through
-omi has a really bad habit of being oblivious to the chaos around him and doing literally anything else besides dealing with the current problems -omi voice: i made ramen for everyone!! izumi voice: yes you did and im very thankful but we could have REALLY used the extra hand to find sakuya's uniform omi: ah
- one time muku opens what he thinks is his brown bag lunch and finds three bottles of black cherry white claw and nothing else. azuma and izumi have to explain to the st. flora’s principal about the situation while sakyo goes and buys bento boxes and a label maker for everyone. he has sakoda write up a strict policy about labeling your lunches before you put them in the fridge.
-(kind of a tangent but they have a lil team bonding activity where they all go into the lounge and decorate their new bento boxes!! they put their signatures and flower motif on them. yuki's, omi’s, kazunari's, and banri's look amazing, and hisoka used the labelmaker to put his name on his and called it a day. homare put his motif on it and forced him to at least sign his name. misumi got a triangle bento box. kazu used his art school magic begging a friend to borrow their sticker maker to make misumi a waterproof super mr. triangle sticker. misumi carries his bento box around everywhere for a solid two weeks afterwards)

hi! im obsessed with isshushipping, and im so happy i found your blog ☺️ do you have any headcanons about them? it can be long or short, general or specific! <3
hello! thank you for making my morning lol i love thinking about these two so much and i’m happy you like my blog 🥺!! i’m going to keep this short since i’m on mobile, but these are some of my headcanons:
- after their reunion on pasio they start spending a lot of time together and learn little things about each other that they never knew before but cherish now that they have the time to relax and bond
- i like to think n still has plans to leave and continue his journey for his dream & as the time nears touya realizes he wants to be a part of it too, he wants to be part of his life and share his dream so theres a whole scenario in my head where he confesses this and its very sweet bc of course n wants touya to go with him. this is also where i imagine their confessions to happen in general!!!! not gonna go super into detail bc i’m very sappy about it hah
- they decide on visiting unova again for old times sake since its been so long since they were there without stuff going down
- i imagine one of their first stops to be nuvema because touyas mom has had enough heartbreak and misses her son touya call your mother. anyways n would also like to meet her and be familiar with touyas hometown
- they tour castelia together and n tries a casteliacone for the first time bc touyas really excited about it, he doesn’t understand the hype but loves the smile on touyas face so he thinks the line was very much worth it
- nimbasa!!! yes i WILL be the 97568965th person that loves these two that headcanons them going on a real date on the ferris wheel at last
- i’ll end it here because this accidentally got long oops lol but i will also say i share the headcanon that after their travels they settle down somewhere quiet and start a pokemon daycare and rescue center. its one of my favorite widespread isshu headcanons i love it so much
thank you for letting me gush about these two i really had to stop myself from writing a novel lmao so much for keeping it short!!! i really really appreciate this ask and your curiosity :-) have a lovely day!
#ask#isshushipping#this is the most public ive been about hcs...hides#i’m so soft for them can you tell

so in a week's time ill be moving to denmark *
* (if i get tested negative for covid and nothing changes in terms of their border rules)
(This is whare I'd add a read more if I knew how to do that on mobile)
and truthfully, for some odd reason the nerves are finally kicking in and im even just... a bit scared. im scared that somehow, after spending so much time learning the language and reading about the country, itll be a huge disappointment. im scared that ill feel alone as fuck. im scared that ill be terrible at living by myself, even if im a very independent person.
and on top of that the covid situation just makes me nervous because the rules can still change. the border police can send me back into germany if something is wrong. i don't even know yet if my brother is allowed to drop me off with all my stuff or whether i have to spend an entire day taking five different trains with all my luggage. on top of that my grandma is at the hospital rn and her condition keeps going back and forth and im scared she might suddenly get worse without me being able to say goodbye.
anyway: all those things aside i *am* excited. my flatmate looks to be fun. ill be living in the city centre. aarhus is near a lot of other towns and nature areas (heck - its a coastal town so there's beaches!). im excited to develop my photography skills. im looking forward to hopefully finally getting fluent at danish. im happy that ill have access to the local record stores so I can add a lot of danish artists and films to my collection.
and it's also exciting that im just one ferry away from norway, which is a country I really hope to be able to visit at some point in the next months. (partially bc the chances seem really fucking large that ill be able to actually hang out casually with kristoffer??? and im going to be sleeping on the couch of one of my fave directors??)
im just in the stage rn where im realizing that the situation im in right now is a lot more comfortable than I previously thought :~

!!! under the cut - pictures from someone living in washington (a ferry ride from seattle) showing before/after with the fires! i apologize for the mobile 10 picture limit;;
wanted to show this bc 95% of people just know that a gender reveal party caused a fire, not that said fire is record breaking for cali, there's over 120 wildfires in west coast states alone, that 3.1 million acres have burned so far, or that i can't see the sky, so!! even if u aren't comfy looking at the pictures, rb this to spread awareness?
before ^ and after is below!
(third one looks weird but i turned my brightness up in order to show how white it looks irl) the first two are 9/10, and last three are 9/11!!!

hi thinking about the fact that layla’s a disabled, chronically ill single mother and the added pressure that puts on her bc her mobility is limited, her spoons are finite, she has days when she can’t get out of bed, and while her own mother is extremely involved in her life and helps with childcare/ferrying 8 y/o emilie around, she still feels incredibly guilty about the things emilie’s missing out on because layla can’t take her or because emilie feels like she should stay home with layla. and layla’s been extremely clear that emilie’s not going to be a young carer --- she mostly relies on her mum, social services are of limited help bc they’re overstretched and while layla’s known she’s not exactly Raking It In and private home care is extremely expensive, but there are times she needs personal care and she def needs domestic care --- but she still feels like she’s holding her back sometimes, and emilie’s seen more hospitals than any kid should have to see their mother in, and layla’s dealing with a lot of anxiety anyway but sometimes it gets to her, but emilie is her entire life and she definitely does what she can and uses most of her spoons on giving her the life she deserves
