Just thinking about how Quinn would help recreate one of your favorite scenes from your books

so my brain went straight to a *spicy* scene when i read this but then it derailed a bit bc i truly believe he’d try so hard to make it perfect but something would go comically wrong

bc he would try to be so romantic with it. like, having a whole lil set up when you get home and re-reading the scene over and over again until you walk in the door to make sure he gets it just right

but in the moment, once you’re in the bedroom and the festivities begin, he’d be second guessing himself the whole time, worrying he’s doing something wrong or it’s not the right time for a certain move.

quinn would be hovered above you, trailing his lips down your body while running through the text in his mind after committing it to memory. you’d be so lost in the feeling of his lips you wouldn’t even realize he’s reaching over towards the small bed side table.

when you feel his lips leave your skin, you’d open your eyes and whine at the lost contact, propping yourself up on your elbows to see why he stopped.

“quinn…what are you doing?” you’d ask him skeptically, being met with the sight of him holding himself above you with one arm while holding the book in his other hand, reading over a paragraph while mumbling to himself.

“i can’t remember what position they’re in after this. had to check, just give me a second,” he doesn’t even look at you as he speaks, too caught up in visualizing the words.

you bring your hands up to your face to muffle your laughter, not wanting to make him feel bad since he’s trying so hard, but of course he would be double checking the source in the middle of foreplay.

“okay, i think i got it, but i need you to sit up a little bit more and turn on your side,” he finally decides, putting the book facedown on the mattress next to you and guiding your body with his now free hands.

you follow his instructions, falling back under his spell when he continues his exploration of your skin.

after he removes what little clothing you had on, he buries his head between your legs, repeating every movement that he remembers being described. every flick of his tongue, curl of his fingers, growl, moan, and whine is exactly as described in the book. the only difference is that he spells his name on your clit with his tongue. he can’t deny the idea was one that even he was eager to partake in, loving the idea of his name being etched in-between your folds.

you’re almost at your limit, your limbs jelly-like and pit in your stomach ready to explode when he slips his finger out of you and the heat of his mouth on your core is gone.

panting, you let out a frustrated groan.

“q, need more, almost there, please” you plead with a whine, squirming around, trying to find his body.

“just a second, need to know if i’m leaving anything out, i feel like i missed something,” he mumbles, licking your juices off of his lips, carefully picking the book back up so he doesn’t damage any of the pages with your arousal.

“quinn, you have three seconds to put the fucking book down and finish what you started before i’m finishing it myself,” you bark at him, fantasy be damned.

“but, i’m just trying to make sure-“

“i don’t care! i don’t care if it’s right, i just need your tongue inside of me, now,” you growl out at him, reaching over and ripping the book from his hands, throwing it across the room.

quinn feels his dick twitch at your anger, suddenly forgetting all about the plan and the check list in his head.

“noted,” he gulps in anticipation, licking his lips while staring at your open legs, deciding the only scene he needs to worry about is the one right in front of him.

Would you mind telling us about more disabled Cybertronians?

Oh boy would I

For this list let’s focus on physical disabilities, both because they’re the most commonly dismissed by the fandom and bc if we try to cover everything we’d be here all day (that can be another list, maybe, if y’all want)

This isn’t going to be comprehensive bc I’m tired but!! I will aim for a broad variety of examples nonetheless

Bumblebee - You all know him, you all love him. He’s the most obvious and most well known example of a disabled Cybertronian character.

In many iterations he is mute

Not by choice but because he lacks a voice box. Bee physically isn’t capable of speech and depending on the version has different tools to work around that. Sometimes he uses his radio to repurpose song and radio dialogue into speech, in cyberverse he also makes use of the internet for clips. In the aligned continuity (tfp and connected media) he speaks in binary, a very simplified form of language using beeps and buzzes, but still lacks a real voice and can’t form words.

In IDW he has a cane

At one point in the comics Bumblebee was shot by a human protester and as a result used a cane for a good bit of time. I haven’t had the chance to read that far into IDW yet so I’m not sure how long he had the cane for but it was enough time that it’s a solidified part of the charcaters history. I’ve seen little models of the cane for sale, to be paired with bee figures.

TFP Ultra Magnus - everyone’s favorite awkward commander, despite his popularity he’s surprisingly overlooked when it comes to this discussion

An amputee, he lost his hand

During an energon raid with wheeljack, magnus’ hand was crushed. Ratchet couldn’t save it and had to amputate, replacing it with a hooked prosthetic. I call it a prosthetic rather than replacement part because despite him being able to move it, it’s not a hand. Not in the way he had previously, and he has to relearn how to use it at all.

I think that’s an important distinction to make when discussing disability and transformers. Some bots might have only ever had one hand, or no legs, or etc but that’s always been their level of ability and since they Are robotic. Yeah they might not have the same capabilities as another bot but that’s a hard metric to go by. Seekers can fly but a grounder isn’t disabled because they can’t fly too, it’s a different standard.

WFC Shamble - far lesser known than Magnus, and reasonably so, this background character is Also missing a limb

Amputee, leg edition

His prosthetic is a lot less fancy than magnus’s, it’s a simple peg leg. Put em together and you get a pirate. Not much to say about him since i don’t know how he lost the leg, just that he did.

Shadow Striker - Most awesome lady in cyberverse. Unlike the above two, she Was able to get actual replacement parts rather than prosthetics. Despite this, she is both shown throughout the show and implied to have

Impaired mobility

Chronic pain

She was able to get replacement parts yes but they were needed because she was blown up. The limbs she was given were kinda just what the others could Find and as such are mismatched and don’t fit her very well. Her motor skills took a blow especially when it comes to combat, something she used to excel in. Her new limbs are described as unstable and prone to malfunction. The loss of mobility and implied chronic pain that come along with her situation are rough, but she makes do.

SG Soundwave - my favorite little guy, he’s in a bit of a different situation than the previous.

Bad Joints ™

His body was entirely overhauled multiple times, successfully, but the latest frame change was done with conflicting metals. Earth and Cybertronian materials clash in his joints, making them prone to getting stopped up. The most affected hinge being the one on the door to his tape deck. It is so prone to getting stuck that his cassettes refuse to dock with him at risk of getting trapped. To work around this, Soundwave has the aid of a personalized case he carries around that they dock in instead.

IDW Sunstreaker - speaking of assistive devices, this guy was (for a time) a wheelchair user! Or,, hoverchair.

Temporary,,, paraplegic? Correct me if another term fits better

Taking this moment for an aside to say hey!! Lookit that, both canes and hoverchairs are things that canonically and casually exist on cybertron!! It’s not too wild to assume there are bots out there who use them long term!! Yes both characters on this list were repaired eventually but they’re also both very popular old characters from an action based franchise and hasbro doesn’t have the balls to make something like that permanent yet. We the fandom are not hasbro. We can do whatever we damn want with our OCs. It’s canon that ur little guy can use mobility aids.

Ok, PSA over, anyway yeah Sunny’s body was basically wrecked and alpha trion was able to repair all of him except his legs. This put him in a hoverchair for a good amount of time.

Finback - he’s a con, a pirate, who developed a “metal wasting disease”

He’s on permanent life support

The disease is going to kill him eventually, and it’s explicitly stated that he’s come to terms with the idea of his death. In the meantime he’s using pretender tech, kinda like fancy armor, to reinforce himself and boost his immune system

Perceptor - for a microscope, the fact he’s got vision issues in multiple continuities is kinda ironic

He’s fully blind in cyberverse

He lost an eye in IDW

Between the two we get to see both routes taken to work with this. Adaption and technological aid. In cyberverse he uses his scope to compensate for the loss of vision Toph-style. In IDW he built himself a monocle that basically replaces the pieces that are missing.

Now we get into the uniquely Cybertronian disabilities, one’s that don’t quite translate to human conditions

Transmutate - is a beloved bot from beast wars

They can’t transform, they don’t have an alt mode

I’m hazy on the details of their character but afaik they came from a damaged stasis pod. Described as deformed and handicapped for their both their lack of an alt mode and general appearance, they are probably the oldest explicitly disabled Cybertronian character

Xaaron - from G1 is in a similar situation

He can’t transform, it would kill him

Unlike transmutate he does have an alt mode, a tank, but after thousands of years without transforming he is no longer able to. The new stress it would cause on his body would kill him.

Broadside - continuing with the subject of alt modes, this clumsy boy is a boat! That’s not a good thing.

He’s very prone to motion sickness

As you can imagine, chronic sea sickness isn’t the most helpful thing when you are the boat. This brings in the entirely new element of mobility issues that are inherent to alt modes. A bot that functions fine in root form might not in alt mode and vice versa.

Trailbreaker - is another instance of this. He’s not a fast car by any means but that doesn’t stop the fact

His frame has a very high energon cost

Possibly the least fuel efficient autobot, he’s got an outlier ability on top of it all that only further increases his required energon intake. He needs to pay more attention to his energon levels and refuel more often overall.

G1 Knockout - yes that’s right the shiny medic himself is on this list, though not for the same reason as his tfp version, g1 knockout still lives up to his name

He’s prone to fainting

A knockout in the more literal sense, he faints when he gets too excited. Fully collapses and everything. Since he’s a fall risk, his teammates take care to keep an eye on him.

Annnnd Yknow he probably should’ve been earlier in the list along with the “human-ish” issues but I’m tired, it’s late, and I’m bringing this list to a close

What are your thoughts on some of the more popular ships? Fanon and canon. For example superbat, bruce x harvey dent, tim x kon, dick x babs, dick x kory, jay x roy, steph x cass, damian x jon, pennywaynes,...

I’ll list them out

Superbat (Clark/Bruce): I find this ok, but personally, I like it when the trinity acts more like siblings, so it’s not my favorite. 5/10

BruHarvey: lovers to enemies? The angst? Amazing. 8/10

Dickbabs: idk. It feels kinda boring to me. Mainly because DC ruined both of their characters in order for them to be together. 4/10

DicKori: they’re soulmates. Idk what to tell you. And maybe you can tell how biased I am. Right now, they are the opitome of right person wrong time. 10/10

Jayroy: I don’t like this ship. It reduces Roy’s character down to a prop, the age gap feels kinda icky and I personally believe in Aro/Ace Jason Todd. 1/10

Superbat (Kon/Tim): the only version of superbat I truly ship. Reluctant friends, to besties, to flirty friendship, to a game of cat and mouse on if that taunt was real or if they were just fooling around? 10/10

DamiJon: I think their age gap never works in their favor. Either Damian’s too old or Jon’s too old, and it makes me feel wrong. And in more recent comics, they’ve been acting much more like siblings than friends who maybe possibly have chemistry with each other. But I do think if you wanted to go the romance route, it could be double unrequited love that was never expressed. Like a 10yr old Jon had a crush on a 13 yr old Damian. Jon left for almost a decade and comes back, looses feelings for Damian, but a 14yr old Damian has feelings for an 18 yr old Jon, but it never works out. 5/10. Just like their Dads

PENNYWAYNESSSS: 100000000/10. Like are you kidding me, this is the best ship ever and I love it so much.

Honorable mentions:

BruTalia: 10/10. My favorite Bruce ship.

Brulina: 8/10. I like it… but I feel like it wouldn’t work out because Selina would get overwhelmed by the amount of wealth Bruce has. Like she thinks it’s what she wants, but it’s too much for her

Birdflash (Dick/Wally): 8/10. I see the appeal, they’re best friends with so much chemistry, but I feel like they would never date bc they value their friendship more and they’re both super busy

JayKyle: it’s the only Jason ship I like, but only because I want it to be one sided, with Kyle failing to flirt with Jason and Jason is completely oblivious and actually just hates Kyle but Kyle thinks Jason’s playing hard to get. (Kyles flirting is just arguing with Jason, so that’s why Jason never gets the hint) 7/10 +300 bc of hillarity

StephTim: I don’t like this ship because Stephanie deserves so much better, and Tim seems like the type to mansplain every little thing, and it would drive Steph up a wall. I also don’t like the notion that they would be friends after they break up. 3/10 bc they had that piano scene

DamiRae: 2/10. Garchel is a better ship, and I feel like their personalities are too similar.

Flatline/Damian: I love them. I think they’re cute, but I don’t see it lasting long. 4/10

StephCass: 9/10. No more needs to be said. But I won’t ever officially write them as being together within a fic bc Steph’s character deserves to be her own, rather than a lover of a Batfam member, and Cass has her own things to deal with

hiya! (distinctly not-in-prison voice) maybe not enough for a full post (or maybe it is?) but what are your favorite things/traits to write about the mercs individually? :0

oooo that’s a good question! i’ll just answer that now and go down the list lol!

scout has never been one of my personal favorites but after comic 7 he really shot up! it’s been more fun to me to think about what shaped him to make these decisions at such a young age… it’s been fun! scout has a very dynamic personality, but he’s almost harder to write for because he is so dynamic! so he’s a character i have to put a little more thought into when i write about him.

soldier is just so goofy to write about in general sometimes i can sit and think “what’s the absolute worst way to handle this? okay that’s how soldier would do it.” and then when i read it back i go “wow… soldier absolutely would do this” but i take a lot of the trauma and i put it on blu soldier bc i watched emesis blue on loop for like a week straight and it permanently changed how i view the blu team tbh

pyro is another fairly easy writing session because pyro is the one that i throw shit at the wall and see what sticks and what doesn’t. pyro’s paragraphs are the ones that get edited the most, because i’ll write something then go “no, i got one better” so pyro, for me, has become quite an interesting character that i… still know hardly anything about! and i really enjoy it! i like that there’s a character im just… slowly carving out of pyro. it’s always a fun writing prompt!

demo is one of the harder mercs to write for, because he’s just so… specific to me. i have a lot of thoughts on demo that i have no idea how to word quite yet, so i always get stuck on him. he’s almost indescribable. but i find ways to do it. he feels like a guy with so much nuance who got such little time, and it’s taking me a while to parse through the little information we have and make something of it that feels right.

heavy has very. quickly. become one of my absolute favorite mercs to write about. i never thought that would be the case. i am the baby of my family, with older brothers, and i have a soft spot for the trope of an older brother character. but heavy feels so weirdly real. like him and snipes are the most regular, mentally stable members of the team, and i love letting it show. i just have grown to really enjoy writing about heavy all around. he’s fun to play with.

engie used to be hard to write about and then i spent a week thinking about him and ever since he has been a very easy guy to write. at least what i decided to take from canon and what i deserted from fanon interpretation. engie, for me, falls under an odd category of having a very particular fanon interpretation that felt hard to remove him from; so i turned towards what we canonically know and grew him out from there. so far, i’ve really enjoyed the dell that has emerged!

if you can’t tell, i…. love the medic. i love writing everything about him. i love making him the evil vicious mastermind. i love making him a stupid brat who got too much freedom and love as a child. i love writing him flustered. i love writing him pissed past the point of accurate perception. i love writing him bored. i love writing him overjoyed, i love writing him inquisitive. i will write and write about him until i am forcibly removed from the keyboard. i seethe over him, i stew over him, i give an occasional stir to the pot, i breathe in the fumes. liquefy that man, put him in an IV bag and hook him up to my arm immediately. i need him. he has overtaken my photos. i have not stopped thinking about him for the past decade. this could become a medic exclusive headcanon blog and i could post three times a day without fail.

snipes is also kind of hard to write about! he’s also very specific to me, and sometimes it’s hard to put down into words. but i really enjoy writing his more casual, easygoing side! it’s fun to imagine snipes in a less professional setting; but writing him as a professional is where i am best with snipes. still love him though!

and finally; spy. spy has also been a surprisingly fun guy to write about! he’s almost like pyro in the sense that i feel like i’m having to carve someone out of him because it feels like we know so little, and he’s like engie in the sense that what we do know is almost set in stone to the fandom, and it’s been fun making him something a little different! he’s fun to make a gremlin! it’s fun to ask myself “you know… where did scout get some of this”

and yeah! that’s all of them! truthfully i just enjoy the entire process of writing about Da Boyz, they’re fun to think about, and it’s been a blast making my own little versions of these guys! and they seem to be well regarded by those who read about them! and that fills me with the good feelings!

Apparently its just in my brain rn but I wanted to make this list for me or for anyone out there who gets into editing before I do (pleas please please idk how to edit and unless I hyper fixate hard enough, I probably won’t take the time to learn lmao) but anyway this is a list of the Robins and songs (by Taylor Swift so there’s a theme and the list has a finite end) that I desperately need an edit of them with.

Stephanie brown- the man (literally can’t hear the song without thinking of her), mad woman (I can see this with interspersed scenes of her father, fighting villains specifically black mask, and Bruce)

Jason Todd- my tears ricochet (absolutely devastating w/ under the red hood, specifically comic version iykyk the difference between that and the movie), haunted (I need this with Bruce and dick and Tim’s reaction to his death), bigger than the whole sky (similar to haunted but more resigned? And still more about characters responding to his death but still His Death), who’s afraid of little old me (red hood transitional period. You see the vision? I know you do.) look what you made me do (obviously. I keep imagining him listening to this song while being the red hood and it’s great), the Great War (just. The imagery. There’s so much potential here. “maybe it’s the past that’s talking, screaming from the crypt, telling me to punish you for things you never did” with a cut to Batman and Joker would go so hard)

Dick Grayson (there’s really no order to this list is there? Lol anyway.)- never grow up (focused on his relationships with his siblings and then after the bridge with the “wish I’d never grown up” with flashbacks to him as Robin oh my god I’d cry), 22 (idk it feels very early Nightwing to me. I need a happy one for him bc he deserves it. Just an edit of him winning and being iconic), New Romantics (in that same vein, with the titans because it’d be fun), the story of us and I forgot that you existed (him and B fighting because I feel people ignore that they do fight quite often and IFTYE especially feels the right amount of petty and sincere for him, you know?), last but not least (can you tell I love him) Style (this and any love interest he repeatedly dates, I was thinking specifically Barbara but I could also see kory, I just think this song is fun for any relationship that gets rebooted in multiple formats)

Tim Drake- enchanted (as itty bitty Tim Drake or Robin, meeting them at galas and Knowing or just working with the bats in the beginning when he was star struck), mirrorball (“I can change everything about me to fit in” …yeah. This is more a fanon interpretation but I read a really interesting fic where Jason comes back and meets Tim and all he can see is his and dick’s Robin mannerisms in him, and can’t find anything that’s just Tim’s until he’s too tired to pretend anymore and it’s stuck with me) you’re losing me (this would be a sad one of people generally looking over or hating him, specifically Bruce calling him Jason, finding out dick made Damian Robin, Damian and Jason verbally attacking him, the events that led to Red Robin) Tis the damn season (for when Red Robin arc is over and he’s still angry but doesn’t know what else to do)

Damian Wayne: a place in this world (it’s not his aesthetic, but the themes of the song are very raised-in-the-league-trying-to-be-a-functioning-family-member), the best day (with him and Dick generally him getting to be a kid, I’m not crying you are), mean (I think the “swords and weapons that you use against me”would be funny with him drawing assorted weapons on people), Innocent (“your string of lights is still bright to me oh, who you are is not where you’ve been” oh my god. I just feel like he needs someone to mean this about him) exile (Talia leaving him, even if she meant to do it for his own good, having to recon with not being in the league anymore), this is me trying (I don’t have words for this one, it’s a vibe)

Bonus:

Anti-hero: you can give all of them different verses that fit best, but I think they’d all sing the song and feel like it was them and I’d love to see an edit of them to it.

Epiphany: Alfred. You don’t even have to listen to it, just look at the lyrics and you’ll Get It.

robin: this I see for both Jason and Dick, so probably split between them.

Mastermind: first off, shameless TimSteph shipper, not even necessarily romantically, it’s just that they’re soulmates and I don’t care what canon says; I know that because they told me personally. Anyway the song is from both of their perspectives. They both think they’re the mastermind

What're some Steph Brown moments you think should be talked about more?

This one is actually really hard for me to answer because I think society should be talking about every stephanie brown moment all of the time. Additionally, I genuinely don’t think I can tell what moments w her are underrated anymore.

That being said I have made a list:

1. This Scene w Crystal in cataclysm

Robin #54

Really shows some extremely interesting parts of their relationship. This is like one of our first indications Crystal and Steph’s relationship might be on the mend. We get a look into how close they are despite their many issues. We have a minute where Steph jokes about Crystal blaming herself for the quake “too” implying Crystal often blames herself for things out of her control, which as I’m always discussing is a Stephanie Brown classic trait. The idea that this is something Crystal might do as well is so compelling to me. And throughout it all, we have Steph trying to protect Crystal, taking care of her, even tucking her in like a parent would their child. (Cough Stephanie brown parentification cough cough)

2. This panel from GK37. The way Batmans silhouette steps forward while Steph’s silhouette stands starkly still. The purple overcast sky with the flakes of snow (the whole weather/environment in gk37 kills me). The emphasis on ‘go to hell’ as after a comic of bargaining Steph finally comes to terms with the fact that she can’t rely on anyone else, that Batman going to her and telling her she could be something, that she could be good meant absolutely nothing to him. Amazing. Imprinted into my brain.

4. Steph’s conversation with Natalia about the stars in Robin 104. Gorgeous panel with an interesting look into Steph’s brain.

5. The Riddle scene in Robin 113, because I’m not smart enough to break down the Riddlers riddles and put together the implications which I assume are there and I want someone else to do it for me. Additionally, the lighting is absolutely gorgeous as we get to see Steph at this low point.

6. Robin #92, the scene where Bruce talks to Steph about the future, deeply unsettling her to the point that months and months later at the very start of war games she’s still thinking about it

7. The moment after Tim Drake’s birthday gaslighting bonanza where he commiserates with Steph abt getting tested by Batman. I’m imagining that he feels guilty for his role in her own test. For the record I’m hallucinating that guilt. I think it’s possible Lewis straight up didn’t know how Tim lied to Steph in Batman Family. But on the other hand the parallels to GK37 are insane and clearly there for a reason. Thinking about this lots. The repetition of “I know” vs “go to hell”. Their reversal of roles…I’ve already blabbed abt this on my blog but I’m still putting it here also bc I’m thinking abt it always.

Robin #120

8. All of GK22 as a reflection of how Batman’s loneliness post officer down is actually inextricably connected with his decision to sanction Steph as Spoiler. But specifically this scene because it makes me sick and ill and because it’s my header. Love the decapitated head side eyeing Batman.

9. Okay last one. One moment I’ve been thinking about a lot recently is Stephanie’s first interaction with Batman post War Games. Like the first thing she says to him after returning from her faked death is her essentially asking permission to patrol in Gotham.

Robin #174

Which is so fucking insane. She was unironically and genuinely spiritually broken by the events of war games. One of the very core tenets of her characterization, her willingness to be Spoiler no matter what regardless of the consequences, is fractured and entirely reversed. I have a lot of thoughts about this, and in general how post war games pre bg2009 Steph has healed physically but something big has clearly changed in her and not for the better. If you ask me, that period of time is stephanie brown at her lowest point. Will be posting abt this more eventually because writing this out has given me worse brain worms than normal.

despite her comment in son, hazel doesn't have much adhd/dyslexia coding. her treatment at st agnes has more to do w being a black girl in the 1930's and her powers/curse than her possible adhd/dyslexia, considering she never mentions any symptoms specific to adhd or dyslexia in her backstory. the closest things are her interest in horses, which could be considered a hyper-fixation, and her flashbacks, which could be argued as daydreaming associated w inattentive adhd. furthermore, her powers could easily be used as a commentary on masking similar to the general attitude towards her vs other dead ppl (she looks alive, so she deserves to be alive, unlike all these other ppl who went thru the doors of death). overall, interesting set up, not expanded upon in canon.

similarly, the only time piper is ever implied to have adhd is in that boo scene, which doesn't hold much weight bc it's a general statement in an impersonal pov (as opposed to "piper was only able to keep track bc of her adhd/demigod abilities," still in third person pov, but a more personalized statement). this post began as a quest to answer the question "how does piper's adhd manifest," and the answer is "uhhhhhhhhhhh."

continuing w the trend, jason is never implied to have adhd or dyslexia at all. would have been interesting to see, considering jason has the whole gifted-kid-burn-out thing going on, but alas.

i'm not including the statement annabeth makes abt demigods typically having one or both and hazel's statement abt "just being a demigod," bc it's also established that it's not a requirement. the fandom wiki claims frank is the only demigod to not have adhd: if "just being a demigod" means that every demigod has adhd/dyslexia, then frank, inarguably, has adhd/dyslexia, as well.

more importantly, in a story where adhd and dyslexia are explicitly addressed and considered the cornerstone of the world building, i need it to be explicitly said that a character has adhd/dyslexia in order to give credit to canon (my personal hcs are a different story).

so, it seems like leo is the only one out of the lost trio w adhd or dyslexia, and it's only adhd. he frequently references things he's reading and shows no issue doing so, given that it's in a language he understands.

interestingly, leo claims "he couldn’t read ancient greek" in hoh, so it could be that the ease w learning ancient greek (and potentially latin) is exclusive to those w dyslexia. however, this has been as inconsistent as the actual dedication to giving demigods adhd and/or dyslexia. for example, chiron says the ability is "in their blood" in tlh w no mention of dyslexia, but in tlt annabeth says percy has dyslexia bc "[his] mind is hardwired for ancient greek."

the only character to bring up how dyslexia affects them in hoo is percy, making it seem like his dyslexia is much worse than annabeth's, the only other character who we know is dyslexic (from pjo, it's never mentioned in hoo). if leo is "seriously adhd," then percy is seriously dyslexic. something to be said how they're both treated as comic relief in fandom, considering.

frank not being diagnosed despite his dyspraxia coding could be used as a commentary on medical racism and the model minority stereotype. since frank is exclusively listed as the only demigod to not have either diagnosis and his dyspraxia coding eventually disappears, it doesn't appear that that was the intention.

moving to a more theoretical discussion, it's hard to say what is/is not definitively adhd/dyslexia symptoms, specifically using canon, considering we rarely see any of the demigods acting "normal." the majority of the time, they're on a quest/in an extreme situation. contrast w pjo, where we learn things abt percy's adhd and dyslexia while he's at school, a relatively normal situation, and then can apply it to the rest of the series. w hoo, it's almost all guesswork.

leo mentions that his adhd affects his memory, so we know that similar moments can be attributed to his adhd. but is hazel forgetting part of sciron's story a symptom of adhd or just a normal thing that happens bc forgetting things in stressful situations is normal? is jason's seemingly permanent amnesia a symptom of the memory wipe or is it exacerbated by adhd? is piper's aversion to feminine clothing and make up caused by sensory issues? we'll never know, bc they're never said to have adhd.

Q1: I use Clip Studio Paint Pro, the brushes i use is a mix between free downloaded ones my friend gave me and paid ones. Main one i use is Cat Scratch but my other 2 options that i use are the fine pencil and mechanical pencil. i download so many brushes all the time that im not even sure they are default csp brushes or not, and i wouldn't even be able to find the original links anyway. The brush i used while working on the Sleep Walk animatic was "tantan"

Q2: wow thank you that is a very nice complement (i personally think i still need some work on my posing). I watched a LOT of gesture drawing videos, i honestly don't remember all of them too well, i will send over this one and this one. Also the book MORPHO anatomy for artists: Simplified forms by Michel Lauricella is on my desk at all times. I also recommend Line of Action, its a free website that imitates figure drawing studies. it's helped me a lot since where i am right now, i don't have the resources to actually GO to figure drawing classes. But for videos in general there's this fav animatics playlist i have that i go back to whenever im in an artistic slump.

I love problematic charles every now and then but I'm VEEERRRRRYY picky with how thats presented bc most of the time it feels like its an "either or" situation where he cannot ever be a good person and make stupid decisions and have "evil" tendencies. Its the same case with erik too but hes more easily forgiven since he's an antagonist.

Also how they make Charles evil is what makes or breaks it bc i love "hypocritical when it comes to how and when you use your mind control/you really are a control freak even when you're 'noble' about it" charles but hate "creepy to your own student(s) and unrepentant about being a control freak and not even trying to hide it in your actions. You also love the government's boots for some unholy reason" charles. (The comics can be varying degrees of this and its why i have trust issues with marvel bc idk if im gonna get a good charles or a stupid one. this was a year where i didnt draw a lot, despite that, i tried to make every drawing count. thank you all for the support in 2024, here's to 2025 ! 🫶

i continued my goals from last year with regards to perfectionism. the tldr is that i strongly feel my perfectionism kept me away from completing as many drawings as i could, and i had to make an effort to just finish drawings no matter how lukewarm I felt about them. especially since i could just edit them a bit afterwards, i've tried to get over the fear of reuploading. 2024 was a strange year, it came and went in the blink of an eye, even more than previous years! life has been stressful, so i've been trying to focus more on myself and taking time off drawing. ironic, although i think i succeeded in that above goal, i expected to get more drawings out of it, but ended up taking more time off drawing anyways. towards the end of the year, i started feeling more burnt out, and drawing became a slow and arduous process. i think part of the reason was because 2024 was my first year doing 5 events - 2 full weekend conventions (anime north and otakuthon), and 3 single day events (bamtori fall aapi market, toronto game expo, bamtori jinglebam market), when in the past 2 years i'd just opt to do 1-2 local cons. it was also my first time doing single day events, which were super chill! although you have to both set up and tear down on the same day, i felt more casual at those events, had more time to chat and look around. back to my point - despite being fun, doing so many events took its toll on me - especially during the colder months of the year, where i wasn't so used to going to events haha! usually i take fall as the time to rejuvenate and recover from summer events, but i couldn't really do that this year. i kept questioning myself, "does this drawing have appeal? will people buy this?" "is my art hireable?" and it's just not a healthy mindset to have. next year i'll try to draw more of what i enjoy and what's on my mind, instead of worrying too much if it's sellable! *feeling like the HAHA YES sickos meme* - 2025 art goals outlined below: - oc zine (aiming for a character guide with some test comics) - character interactions & poses! e.g. dancing, hugs - generally stuff that's more difficult to draw. my art is more illustrative, but sometimes i wished it was more engaging emotionally? like i want people to smile and cry with my characters... - illustrations that challenge me. when i say illusts that challenge me it's pretty abstract - do research and gather inspiration for every illust.. compositions that are difficult/complex and take a while to draft.. strong theme.. it's more for me to understand AHAHAHA. as the years go by you can see my art becoming more unified in theme and self indulgent... i want to keep going, i want to make art that is uniquely mine. less priority: - get used to sketching! truly miss how i used to fill up sketchbooks every year - sticker sheets (this is on the less priority list bc i will probably fulfill this goal regardless) - oc merch (happy with the stickers i made in the last 2 yrs, let's keep going!) - silly things! e.g. 4koma, silly doodles. comedy is an art, it IS a skill you can study and chip away at (e.g. comedians and comedy writers). make sure i take notes on really stand-out jokes i find funny & why

other various things to try and draw more of: - group pictures - animals - layouts and props. i find layouts and anything with hard surfaces difficult to draw, which is why i draw a lot of flowers and fabric LMAO. one thing i gotta do is start by either drawing characters holding props more (easy baby steps!) and/ or start drawing props around them and make my way towards harder things (e.g. practice drawing a character sitting, i'll start by drawing a simple chair, then a table, then objects on that table). this is also one of my weaknesses - draw the ground they're standing on if possible, e.g. characters standing on a grid - vehicles, if i can. i mostly draw stuff from fantasy series where cars don't exist LOL but i'll try...

tt03 #12: this is technically their first interaction... rose is super drugged and joey is dead and his soul is attacking people so its hard to really consider it to be either of them. but they Do interact here and it is their first time talking to each other. and it later leads to rose cutting her eye out #slay

#40-41: this is Actually their first interaction!!!! and its the most in-character joey gets on this list 🤭 this is so so important to me because it is the first time they interact and they've both been searching for a family for long and they finally find each other and ouuhghghuhhggh.... and they have such a good convo at the end of 41 and. i just love them so much.

#43-46: so this one actually isnt marked as a fav on my rose list but i Am marking it as a fav on this list. im a complicated man. in terms of rose & joey this is once again one of their only in character interactions. it just means so much to me because its more of them being a family and hanign out and ough... and just caring for each other and looking out while slade is fighting them AND accepting the titans as a family <3 <3 <3 <3 life is so beautiful i love this arc so much. honestly just thinking about this arc i might go back and retroactively mark it as a fav on my rose list its just so good for them

deathtrap arc: so this is an interesting one bc i could not care less about the actual story and joey is not in character at all. BUT ☝️ theyre so siblings. it's about rose risking everything to prove joey's not a villain, then once she realizes that he is in fact a villain she tries to bring him back and convince him to yk. stop killing people. and joey dropping everything for rose and trying to protect her even when hes killing people. this arc circles around in my brain constantly because ougughuhhgg... its them. theyre still caring about each other and looking out for each other despite everything. ough

tt03 #77-78: BITING SCRATCHING YELLING SCREAMING CRYING!!! I LOVE THIS STORY. i cant even put it into words i just love this story so much. its such a perfect representation of how rose feels about her family and her relationship with slade and with joey and. oh my god. i cannot recommend this one enough fr

unfortunately. now we move on to the new 52

ds11 #19-20: ok so i included this one just to be thorough but. this sucks so bad. evil joey and whitewashed rose and hero slade. trash comic and the half the family dies at the end then they move on immediately

ds14 #4-6, 18-20: once again i only included these to be thorough. this is marginally better than the last one because they at least get a lot of time hanging out as siblings!!! (for some reason rose is the older sister though. idk where that one came from) honestly ds14 is just a bad comic in general. the plots are confusing and boring and the slade characterization is so fucking boring because they try to make him like. a misunderstood good guy again. BORING. sucks. but remember- it as to be so over (deathstroke 2014) so that we can later be so back (deathstroke 2016)

ds16 #6-7, #15: this is really just nice lil sibling moments again !! reestablishing what the new52 fucked up and theyre so sweet here <3 6 & 7 are fun just for rose coming to joey whenever shes upset then trying to protect him when shes worried, and i like 15 because she is once again worried about him and immediately wants to talk to him. theyre family :]

#18: LISTEN. this is one of my favorite comic issues of all time because all the soap opera drama comes to a head right at this point and everything goes to shit and it's hilarious to me. BUT. you can only read this if you read it in the context of the other 18 issues of the run. the entire family beefing and falling apart all at once is just so perfect to me i love wilson family drama

#21-22: this is one of the only times theyre really like. on a Team together. they've fought on the same side plenty of times but this is them on a hero team!! together!!!!!! the defiance arc is very funny to me and rose & joey have some time to hang out in these issues <3

#29: in terms of rose & joey this one isnt super substantial except for the fact that (spoilers) rose confesses to killing his fiancé. but then they get distracted 10 seconds later so its not even really followed up on. but once again i am being thorough

#37: i like this one just because i love that joey saw rose in distress over being willow and slade being in jail and he tries so hard to help her even though it immediately goes badly. but hes still trying to be there for her :')

#45-46: i fucking love rose as deathstroke. and i love joey dropping everything when he finds out rose is in trouble because!!! thats his sister!!!! ("something's come up... it's rose." "it's always rose" lives in my head forever i love it so much) and then the end of 46 being their mind meld and seeing each other before they knew each other fuckkkkk i just love the whole deathstroke rip arc

#49-50: siblings!!!!! they just have little moments in these issues but god. those little moments fuck so hard. just. little moments of them looking out for each other and comforting each other through everything. AND i think about them just bickering and playing video games at the end of the last issue all the time. deathstroke 2016 you will always be famous to me.

Despite my long list of things I don’t like abt venture bros (ik that’s wild considering I’ve only said positive things abt the show here but I had a turbulent journey actually that’s only on my priv twitter) the reason I watched all the way and kept watching is being genuine about loving something will always shine through.

I, despite my personal opinions on a plot point, a character, etc watched VB and was put in its web bc it’s genuine! It says I love you and pushes you down the stairs laughing. I am one of the younger and newer fans my experience with the Hero genre is covered in gritty, edgy, or just kinda hateful parodies. I don’t like it. Am I comic nerd? no. I’m pretty sure I can only recall some runs, have a deep love of spiderman and daredevil really, I read and watched tintin as a kid that’s like my area tbh. But I do love heroes! And I think VB went “sure we’re parodying but also no” and it was genuine about it!

I don’t know how to describe it, very hard to pin down, but being genuine and loving something isn’t just about how much you know, it’ll shine through. And this show was the very few times I went “they love this. I gotta see it to the end” bc they so do love what they made im a fan for that alone

this is a super duper big large heavy question, and it's also one that might, depending on the context of your fic, have a very simple answer: the immortals are, other than their immortality, human, and therefore they can each only be in a single place at once.

they don't have superhuman strength or speed, they don't have magic, they don't have access to time-travel technology. I'm not an expert in ww2 military strategy but I'm sure allied governments looked into assassinating Hitler, and nobody managed to do it until the shitstain killed himself. the immortals are highly skilled and well-connected but not at the level of for example the agency that would go on to become the CIA, so who's to say they'd be successful in this assassination if they tried.

there's also the matter of when and for what reason the immortals might decide that killing this particular shitstain should go at the top of their to-do list. it's so easy for us to say in hindsight that a catastrophic volume of suffering could've been averted with this one person's death 10-15 years earlier than what happened in our timeline, but even with the strategic benefit of that hindsight, none of us can predict exactly what would've happened after a successful assassination in 1939, 1932, or even earlier. killing one leader doesn't ensure the movement he leads will stop with his death; someone even worse could have stepped in under the banner of a martyr.

things had gotten bad for Jews in a lot of places many times before things started getting real bad again in Germany. again, I'm not an expert, so I don't know when anyone outside of Nazi senior leadership knew anything about plans for the Holocaust — but would any of the immortals have learned about it sooner than international news media did? would they have known about it early enough that it was possible for a group of four immortals to stop? would they have believed such horrific plans if they'd seen them on paper? there's historical evidence that US officials didn't believe early reports could possibly be true.

there are photos on Copley's wall showing the immortals in Europe at several points during ww2 and there's that one panel from one of the comics of some of the boys being involved in liberating one of the camps. but we don't know details beyond that, and we don't know what the immortals were up to in the 1930s. they may have been very, very busy doing what they could to protect people from Japan's horrific war crimes of the same era, which started several years earlier than the Third Reich.

none of that is to say it would be easy for the immortals to know that the Holocaust was happening and not stop it. I'm sure it was devastating for all of them, who'd already seen so much needless painful death in their long lives, to see the ruthless mechanized efficiency of Nazi mass murder. it would be especially devastating for Booker, even without the Jewish Booker headcanon, bc his children died hating him bc he could not save them no matter how much they begged and no matter how hard he tried.

so my hope for the fic you're working on is that you'll show at least a little bit how their inability to stop these horrors weighs on the immortals. show the personal cost to Booker. do the others get why such horrors happening to his people, who are specifically being targeted because they are Jews, hurts him so badly? or does Andy make dark jokes about how God really must not exist or what did Booker do to piss him off.

does Andy make dark jokes like that bc she sees Quynh's face in every woman they rescue from the Japanese army's rape campaigns? it would have been just as impossible for the immortals alone to save every one of them as it would've been to stop the Holocaust. might their personal connections to victims thousands of miles apart in a war causing overwhelming suffering across most of the planet wear on the immortals' relationships with each other? they can only do but so much. how the hell do they choose which people to try to save?

now that I've thought about it, writing a fic where they do kill Hitler might actually be easier. you can just handwave the deeply frustrating logistical realities and make it so that conveniently killing the nightmare in charge happens to cause the whole house of nightmares to fall apart. (you can also handwave that in your new timeline non-Jews across Europe welcomed their Jewish neighbors home with open arms, when very often the opposite happened irl.)

this topic is so rich for all kinds of exploration in fic. you could end up with a long and plotty meditation on how painful it is for the immortals to have to choose between so many people who need their help. you might have only been asking for the sake of some references to this era of the past in a fic set during or after the movie where the historical timeline is set in stone, in which case I hope what I've shared here leads you to writing those passages with appropriate seriousness and care, even if it's ultimately a small part of a story mainly focused on other things.

this was hard to answer, but not intellectually, this kind of analysis is how my brain works. it just hurts my heart to think about how much my people have lost, how much pain so many people have suffered, and how much suffering is happening right now that there's so little I can do to stop. if I were immortal right now how the hell would I choose between Palestinians and Massalit people and Uyghurs and Rohingya and the multitude of Latin Americans suffering at the US border, all the Black Americans suffering systematically in US prisons, all the other people whose catastrophic suffering I don't even know about?

but I'm glad you asked bc this is such an under-considered element of TOG that's very worth the spotlight. I hope my thoughts here help you, and maybe others will see this and think about it as well.
