Something that didn't click with me the first time that I watched Our Skyy 2 x Bad Buddy x ATOTS was that Pran -- now in charge of the architecture faculty play -- chose a BL-themed play again.

We know from the end of Our Skyy 2 that Pat and Pran will know that Dissaya will see their staged kiss from social media. But I wonder -- besides Pran thinking that A Tale of Thousand Stars was a good enough story to turn into a play -- what else Pran was thinking to choose a BL theme again. Three years prior, it was Toto in Pran's faculty that turned Plae Rao into a BL play -- and Pat came to save Pran as architecture's Plae Rao was about to collapse.

blackbeard stole the revenge from him but "allowed" him to stay on BB's ship (either as a guest or as a prisoner, it's not clear, but he def wasn't a crew member bc he didn't have any chores)

he was seen on deck running around in his gowns 😭😭

BB eventually reinstated him as the captain of the revenge and they sailed together for a while

BB betrayed bonnet by raiding his ship and marooning his crew while bonnet was off getting a pardon

SO BONNET SWORE REVENGE AGAINST BB who was at the time, the most feared pirate

Chiastic Structure of S2

The post preceding this is Chiastic Structure of S1.

S1 was neat, tidy and simple compared to S2.

S2 was...difficult. I have a feeling this is because of the missing minisodes. There felt like there were "holes" in places, where there was a strong scene with no corresponding pair, and yet in others there were single lines matching up.

You will also notice its quite...skewed? The hinging midpoint is right at the end of Ep4, which means the last two episodes mirror the preceding the four! So there are gaps. For example, the conversation in the pub in Ep2 doesn't match with anything specific.

One of the things I hoped it might shed some light on was the purpose of the trip to Edinburgh, which seems like a bit of a dead end. It does, in a way - I will discuss it a bit further below, along with some other parallels that didn't fit the structure.

Discussion on parallels that didn't fit the structure:

1. Crowley is given permission to destroy all of Job's possessions /  Gabriel refuses to give permission to destroy the Earth aka Armageddon II

There is a repeat emphasis on licenses, permits and authority throughout S2, so I really thought Crowley's permit to destroy of Job's possessions would have a match. It did, but it didn't fit the structure! If you look closely some of the other permits and authority lines do slot in. I'm planning some metas on these topics in the near future, as the use of language around these concepts is quite interesting, and there is some history to throw into the mix as well.

2. Crowley deceives the archangels with the help of an angel

This pair is a reference to Crowley and Aziraphale teaming up in the Job minisode to restore Job's children, and then Muriel aiding Crowley to sneak into Heaven. I'd just like to point out that Crowley could have gone to Heaven on his own - remember Eric went up with the hellfire in S1E6 - but he doesn't know where to go and get Gabriel's file, that is what he needs Muriel for.

3.  Popping up to Edinburgh

Ah, the trip to Edinburgh! Why? WHY!!! Why go all that way for ... nothing?

Guess what - it's a parallel sequence to Crowley popping up to Heaven.

I was going to write a companion piece to this but...my to do list is getting a bit long at the moment. Let me know if you want me to expand on it.

4. Ignoring messages

So this one started as "Nina gets txt messages from Lindsay, Mrs Sandwich says not to look at them," at the start of Ep3, then during the Ball Crowley is trying to lead the humans out of the bookshop and Shax confronts him with another bundle of mail. Crowley is succeeding in ignoring his messages from Hell, but Nina isn't.

5. Muriel and The Interrupted Tea Ceremony

In S2 it noticeable that everyone except Crowley needs permission to enter the bookshop, whereas in S1 they could just walk in. Originally I made a comment elsewhere that I thought this part matched with a sub-story to the Ball, the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and hospitality to angels, but then I came back and had another look and saw that there was a surface match - but I'm still going to do another post about the "cupperty" because it keeps getting lost in all the noise!

6. Threats and Declarations of War

Shax makes a number of threats throughout the series, to hunt Crowley down and to declare war on Aziraphale. So when Aziraphale inadvertently declares war on Hell with the halo toss, you'd think there would be a matching pair. There is, but not with a declaration of war, just a threat to Crowley. This is probably one of the weaker pairs.

7. Mysteriosity, audacity, ferocity and dangerocity

The Marvelous Mr Fell and his Mysteriosity has a pair with Shax's speech to her fellow demons about the unprecedented audacity of the attack on the bookshop, and how their lack of numbers will be made up for with their ferocity and...dangerocity. It should have fit, but it didn't.

I know it's almost everyone's fav but ep 3 Sean is on top, the shag omg I am just a goner for this kind of hairstyle, gives me like rockstar, skater vibes and I am all here for it. also a huge fan of the buzzcut and ep2 Sean (me about to say I also really like ep1 and 5 Sean, but okay come for me I just think this boy is so so pretty no matter the hairstyle or look) and for the endings, I don't know if this is an underrated one but Redemption Sean (especially when they are back in the forest and his hair has grown out a little) and just like you said bb Sean is a whole different story... it's doing something to me.

EXT. PRASERTSILP HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS — DAY

adding a layer to highschool!patpran by introducing us to their juniors specifically in their music club is cute and clever.

this show has a great habit of establishing things early on (pran starts writing the song in EP2 shortly after applying in EP1) and paying it off before the show ends. the Chekhov's Gun Principle approves.

we get confirmation from p'aof (?) that pran's guitar is a metaphor for pat and his relationship with him.

forbidding to play it, it being kept for years and returned (= university reunion), then at EP12 dissaya getting it herself and laying it for her son to play... yeah.

pat also being smart because he knows exactly how to get to pran, by making a deal.

this scene is so easy breezy. that even though they're in public now, there are no more pretenses. they get to be comfortable.

also wait! cute goof up. they decided to keep that in because it's natural. i think his forehead got hit by the guitar, haha.

speaking of natural, thank you that pran did some testing and tuning because no one immediately remembers the chords and plays it. lol

and then, when pran actually starts playing, the lighting changes. he looks more angel-like.

p'aof said that the windy effect wasn't on purpose. sir i'm glad you shot this scene like this, even though it must've been hard to pick up audio, because it looks so good.

again, natural. pran sing so slowly because he's trying to remember the lyrics.

i kind of bashed episode 3's guitar hallway scene because the background music didn't make way for pran playing the guitar. there was music on top of music it was kind of annoying lmao but

they made it up with this scene. they let only the sound of the wind, the strings, and nanon's voice take over quietly.

hats off to Pat's multitasking and attention though?? deciphering the lyrics and then stopping to admire Pran. brooo. you're so down bad.

but seriously, the simplicity in their looks. we see in the show's first half how and why pran fell in love with pat, so now we see here the vice versa. (pun not intended)

i have a feeling the song draft actually ends at the previous line, about the sky, sea, or other kind of splendor.

but pran improvises the beginning of the refrain right here. because when he can serenade to pat like this, he can finally answer the question in the first verse.

because see how he stops and looks up before and after he sings this line: it felt like he wasn't recalling, but rather making up one on the spot.

this scene was simply a masterclass of the simplicity of romantic chemistry. the fondness in the eyes. the succeeding revelation of pat's memory.

remember when tumblr user absolutebl said nanon emotes with his eyes? because yes. god yes.

look at him. pran is very surprised. but what is more on the surface are warmth and affection once he learns of this fact and that hears it from pat himself.

i love how nanon chooses to fall into a trance-like state while looking at pat, so much that pran has to visibly shake himself off of it by blinking and looking away to continue the sincere conversation playfully. he's so INFJ for this.

we end with pran learning that pat has liked him back just as long as him, which makes both him and i happy.

the lack of awareness pat has with the nature of feelings he has for pran doesn't invalidate its existence: that it's romantic in nature.

I wasn't sure about ON or the idea of a crossover, like many people, but at risk of speaking too soon, this is one of my favorite episodes. Patpran felt organic, the plot didn't bother me, I love Inkpa and Phuphatian, the chemistry was there. People could call it bad taste or low standards, but for me nothing too annoying jumped out. I genuinely enjoyed it so far and am actually excited for the next episodes. Sure I don't like Pat's hair personally speaking lol, but that won't stop me from rewatching. I haven't looked much at opinions yet so maybe other people hated it with a passion. Maybe it's because I went in with low expectations? Maybe if I had been hyped about Bad Buddy's episode I'd be let down instead?

P’Aof got me on this crossover train, at least for now. The plot definitely makes sense. Also did we just get WaiPat kiss😭 that was so funny LMAOO at least we know now how Pat wakes up Pran

I feel conflicted lol.

I don't wanna comment too much on patpran because I know people are sensitive; I'd say the chemistry wasn't bad and ON were able to fully get back into character which I didn't doubt - but too much has happened for me to enjoy this lmao. I can't look past the things that occurred so it's difficult for me to be objective.

However, unexpectedly, I'm loving the crossover lol. I was trying to think of possible ways for them to combine these stories over the past few days and I came up with nothing lmao. But the idea with the script is actually really smart. It makes sense to me. Also I might have gotten a little emotional at that last scene lmao I didn't expect that. it's been so long. none of this feels real. but daddy aof did it again 😮‍💨

I'm pretty sure we will get 4 episodes. I'm thinking it's gonna be BBS x ATOTS ep1 tomorrow, BBS x ATOTS ep2 next Wednesday and then ATOTS ep1 on Thursday. but who knows. if they wanna go full clusterfuck they bring the others back in the finale as well lmao.

Making Izzys Development Less of a Shock:

Izzy is protective of his crew and he doesn't see the Revenge crew as his until season 2. When Jim and Frenchie are crew, he protects them as well. I dont think he had a redemption arc, that shift mixed with the "bottle it up" logic of characters like Frenchie and the "we dont get apologies" logic of characters like Archie means they were comfortable enough with him to trauma bond.

Revenge Crew: when asked in s1 ep 4, Izzy tells Ed the plan is to treat the Revenge crew like every other ship they have taken by making them fix the ship and then killing them. He also tells the crew they dont get food when they have been invaded. So from his pov this is a normal day with normal-ish captives. We are never given reason to believe Ed ever tells him otherwise.

Blackbeard Crew: Our only look into how the Blackbeard crew see him comes from Fang and Ivan. In s1 ep2, we hear Ivan tell Fang he should tell Izzy he doesnt like it when Izzy pulls his beard, implying Ivan at least thinks that would be safe to do and maybe even result in it not happening again. In ep 4, Izzy is yelling at Ed about the 7 men they lost saving Stede. In ep5, we see Fang panic when he thinks Ed is about to catch him slacking off and letting Lucius sketch him, but when he finds out its Izzy he relaxes. In ep6, they both go to Izzy to question why they havent followed protocol and killed everyone yet. This shows a fairly open relationship with their first mate. From what we see, they are comfortable being honest with him and trust him enough to question plans.

He is a dick when he takes over as captain, but the tasks he has the Revenge crew doing seem to be sailing related and we dont see him punish anyone until Wee John disrespects him. Was it good and was he right? No. But the punishment isnt violent, he seems to be trying to force them into being "proper" pirates. Then he strands them on that island, but they were rescued and after seeing the trauma crew I'm guessing they were less angry about being stranded. It's also possible they blame Ed for that.

In season 2, Izzy is back to being the go between for Ed and the BB crew. Jim and Frenchie are part of his crew now and he isnt pretending to be captain, so hes less of a dick and more of a buffer from Blackbeard. They have noticed that Ed is taking his toes, but they all seem relatively unharmed physically, creating the beginnings of a trauma bond. They also feel comfortable enough with him to question orders. Then when Ed starts pointing a gun at them, Izzy says something to get the gun pointed at himself instead of them or Ed himself. Jim's "hes our dick" explanation also implies they know everything is better when the crew cares about eachother.

As soon as Izzy is seemingly out of the picture, Ed does everything he can to ensure they will all die in that storm. And tries to make Jim and Archie to fight to the death. But Izzy steps in again and stops Ed. This would strengthen the trauma bond even more.

From what I can tell, Jim, Frenchie, Archie, and Fang and also Lucius have been through to much to be bothered by someone being a dick. Lucius can still be snarky, but he has bigger problems. The BB crew watched Izzy take a bullet and get toes cut off voluntarily and continue to stand between them and Blackbeard.

The rest of the Revenge crew either have someone they love on that ship or, frankly, dont really care about Izzy. And Izzy hits rock bottom and accepts that this is his new crew, theoretically resulting in him treating them a bit better.

I assume the New Unicorn note is the BB crews idea. The rest just want the trauma group to calm down a bit so I can see them agreeing to any team building activity if it helps the others build trust again. When we see the leg being made Jim is covered in gold paint, Fang and Frenchie are putting the last nail in.

TLDR: you dont see a redemption arc because he didnt get one. It's just the perfect storm of him being slightly less of a dick, a few key characters trauma bonding with him, and the rest not really caring about him or getting screen time. From his side they are crew now so hes less of a dick.

I'm sorry if this reads like headcanons, I tried to put episodes in to explain but it's all from my memory and it is very late. I hope it helps make the beginning of s2 less of a shock for someone.
