morgana better be appreciated for being such an important part of arthur's conscience.
it's crazy watching the first season of anything. oh the stakes will rise and the choices will become harder and i will think of these versions of you with wistfulness and longing. how can i be nostalgic for something still happening
ah the little druid boy. is this foreshadowing? must i remember him?
oh. morgana feels the resentment. she's alone and alienated in a place she calls home. how must it feel to be surrounded by those who would rather kill you? how can uther so callously claim that he will not forgive her and promise her harm? how can she feel safe?
i knew the name of the little boy the second before he said it. mordred. is he destined to kill arthur--did he manipulate merlin? was it wrong for merlin to save him?
the uncertainty of the future is something i will have to learn to cope with.

Why have not seen one single gifset with the parallel of "No I'm pretty sure my name is Merlin always has been" with "No, I'm Prince Arthur of Camelot"...

the reason arthur's death worked in bbc merlin is because in s1e8, the possibility of his death was first established. it continues to work because, throughout season five, mordred's arrival forces the audience to grapple with the fact that the speculation of arthur's death from the start of the season isn't just speculation anymore. it could actually happen.
season four of umbrella academy didn't do that whatsoever.
they didn't establish that these characters had to die before the last episode. it was stupid and it was bullshit and they didn't fucking handle it well.
the more i think of the lack of proper resolution throughout s4 of the umbrella academy, the more rage fills my entire body

I was kinda skimming through season 1 episode 8 (as I was getting reference for all the Druid's marks and the amulets they wear) and a line I never realized Morgana said and the way Arthur acts all makes sense now.
Through out this whole episode we have Arthur constantly disagreeing with Uther about Mordred. That he "He's just a boy", "He's just a child", "What harm can he do" "He's so young". This is all of Arthur's and Uther's conversations through the whole episode. Arthur is against what his father is doing because Cerdan only went into Camelot to collect supplies he needed with Mordred.
Uther executed Cerdan which we see Arthur disagree with but he attends the execution. Now the lines are after Arthur caught Morgana sneaking Mordred out and she's in his chambers.
"I can't believe you'd let an innocent child die!"
"He's already been caught." Arthur responds "I have no choice."
Now this i just find this ironic that when young Mordred was about to be executed, Arthur says "I have no choice." I just think of how it parallels to the lasts episode with Mordred just having struck Arthur with his sword and the whole "You left me with no choice."
But the the following line is what i wanna focus on and it's... "If I know you at all, you won't stand by and let this happen."
Now with the episode A Herald of the New Age (i know a lot of people dislike this episode as do I and honestly only like it for the little ghost druid boy and Elyan) in mind and what we know from it. Sometime right before the series started Arthur led a raid on a druid camp to impress his father. He ordered for the children and Women not to be harmed but the other knights and soldiers didn't follow through on his order, and slaughter them. (Now this isn't really a surprise given that we see multiple raids on the druids happen in the series but...)
"I wanted to stop it! I froze. I didn't know what to do."
Arthur literally stood by and let those children be murdered. And so when we get to episode 8 and meet Mordred... Arthur feels guilt, he is holding himself responsible for what happened to those children and women and he sees those same innocent children in Mordred. Now, this brings up the question, did he just save Mordred out of Guilt?
#bbc merlin#mordred#arthur pendragon#virus rambling#again just me rambling none of this is to be taken seriously#morgana pendragon#s1e8#s4e10#also please don't argue in tags or reblogs everyone has their own opinion especially when it comes to THIS show

You know it’s bad when rewatching Merlin, that you realize your relationship with your father is nearly a mirror to Uther and Morganas.

Top 5 scenes that always make you emotional. 😘
Oh dear, I have so many 😅
Star Trek: DS9 s5e16 Doctor Bashir, I Presume?: That scene where Julian's genetic enhancements have just been found out and Julian, having told his parents that it's over, starts fighting with his father and says "It makes every difference! Because I'm different! Can't you see? Jules Bashir died in that hospital because you couldn't live with the shame of having a son who didn't measure up!" - something in that scene just punches me in the gut so hard
Star Trek: Picard s1e8 Broken Pieces: that scene where Raffi confronts Cris about ibn Mājid and Vandermeer - the acting is so great!
BBC Merlin s3 finale: When Merlin and Lancelot are plotting together; their friendship just makes me super emotional
The ending of The Little Prince (my heart. My poor heart)
BBC The Musketeers s1e6: that scene where Aramis rides out onto the bridge to bring the fake baby Henry to Agnès and eventually lets the bundle fall into the river - I know that it's not baby Henry but my heart does not and it makes me feel so terrible every time
#piccolaromana#Orion replies#the thing is - I'm really bad at showing my emotion#but damn I do have quite a lot of it!
