the porn addictions of anime fans is so widespread it’s so sad. I do believe that reading fanfiction counts as “real” reading in some cases (like your writing for instance! we already know the characters, but you have the skill to give them depth beyond what we already know about them), however I feel like it’s been ingrained into a lot of our minds that any kind of reading is good for our brains, but when we read to get the same sexual stimulation that one would get from watching porn, you just get immediate satisfaction and start to crave more and need kinkier things to feel fulfilled. the same issue is evident on booktok with these overproduced smut-filled romance books that promote unhealthy sexual relationships. smut is fun and is great in moderation, but please guys i beggggggg you to read more than smut (and honestly more than fanfiction too) im really glad to see other people feel this way too, it gets overwhelming looking up character x reader and it being overfilled with smut :( sometimes a girl just wants to read about going on a nice date with her anime boyfriend not about getting railed to the point of passing out 😭

Summer Sonic 2000 Headline [ROCKIN'ON June 2000]

Y2K breaks out! The first ROCKIN'ON report on the midsummer alternative festival Summer Sonic! Finally, Japan's first urban festival. First of all, fly with the line-up!

On 5th and 6th August, immediately after the Fuji Rock Festival, the two-day rock festival "Summer Sonic" will be held simultaneously at Fujikyu Highland Conifer Forest in the Kanto region and Osaka Cosmosquare Open Air Stadium in the Kansai region. The number of artists is expected to be considerable, as the festival will be held over two days and on two stages. The names are still coming in, but for now the confirmed artists include Green Day, Mansun, The Flaming Lips, Teenage Fanclub, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Muse, Weezer, Arrested Development, Ben Folds Five, Coldplay, Grandaddy, The Living End, Tahiti 80, Vienna, 311, Supercar, Quruli, and more! —So it's already gorgeous! The artists are completely interchangeable between the Kanto and Kansai regions, so all bands will be appearing in both. Don't worry.

Now, let's take a personal look at each of the highlights, starting with Weezer. I thought they had broken up, but it seems they are really coming. What's going on? I've checked many times, but seriously, they're coming. And Mansun! The new album is coming out in June, so it should be unusually exciting by this time. Shout out "I'm negative!" to the sound of high-speed dominoes falling all over the place! And for those who missed their first visit to Japan, is the longed-for Muse going to be the favourite? Green Day, who played in the basement of Seiyu [a convenience store] in Takadanobaba after being cancelled at the first Fuji Rock show, have not played since their last shows at Tokyo Bay NK Hall and Akasaka BLITZ [in 1998]. What colour is your hair? Or, has there been a new album to follow "Nimrod" yet? Jon Spencer, who is a familiar face is sure to impress. And for Teenage Fanclub, the long-awaited new album is in the works. They'll be playing new songs! The Flaming Lips under a summer sky, is it Reading Fest all over again? A Bowlie Weekender illusion? Check out Grandaddy, and I could go on and on, but this is a groundbreaking line-up. I know my wallet (or bank account) will be tight at Fuji, but I have no choice but to say "I've got to go".

This festival is an urban festival. It is an attempt to present a different kind of festival in Japan, where people can experience world-class rock artists on stage in a convenient location in a casual and comfortable manner, rather than the green, free and hard-working rock festival that Fuji Rock so strongly impressed upon people. This is the same direction as Reading in the UK and Big Day Out in Australia. In a sense, it could be said to be competing with Fuji. It's hard to decide which one to go to, and if you go to both, it's hard to find the money and time, but it's good to think about the future of festivals in Japan. We can target festivals too, and if we do, they will become better and better. …… As I was writing this, I was stunned to see the new line-up for Fuji Rock announced today! In addition to Morrissey and Denki Groove, Mogwai! Yo La Tengo, Super Furry Animals and more! This is a battle as early as the subject……. Find out more with your own eyes! That's all I can say. Translator's Note: There's actually at least 3 different accounts on what happened with Green Day when the first Fuji Rock Festival was cancelled back in 1997.

As claimed in the article, they played an impromptu show at the basement of a Seiyu convenience store in Takadanobaba.

According to Wikipedia JP, the band were upset and trashed the hotel room that they were staying at with a BB gun/air gun.

According Green Day Live, the band joined members of the Chili Peppers, the Foo Fighters, Beck, and The Prodigy on an excursion to an amusement park. It was likely to be Fuji-Q Highland, since it was close to the resort and only half an hour away by car.

So yeah, make of it what you will.

Believe it or not, I happen to come across this article by chance from amongst the secondhand Japanese music magazines that I have in my collection. It came from one of the magazines that I was forced to buy as part of a bulk purchase and it had none of the artists or bands that I was interested in, so I put it away. It wasn't until a couple of days while I was sifting through the collection that I found this article.

Although I am an agnostic witch, Imbolc is closely associated with the deity Brigid (or St. Brigid). Brigid watches over and protects Ireland, Scotland, and the Isle of Man, and as such many witches, pagans, and even Christians feast or celebrate Imbolc as a method of worship and reverence.

The Brigid's Cross is a decoration woven traditionally from corn reeds and hung over doors and windows to protect from negative entities and unwanted spirits.

Disappointingly uninterested most of the time, to be honest. He doesn't overly love or hate cute clothes or accessories or people - except for baby animals. He goes absolutely apeshit around tiny beasties and gets very protective over them. 🍉 What will your OC take to the grave?

Just how much his failures - whether they be real or just perceived to be his fault - affected him, and how incredibly low the guilt brought him when he wasn't able to save someone (which happened too damn often). He doesn't open up about the more negative aspects of his life.

🥒 How innocent are they (unaware to the bad happenings around them)?

Not at all. He sees everything, but is desensitised to a lot; poverty, violence, crime in general, and even actively contributes in some way to those bad things while working gigs, or searching for a cure for the Relic. He's just very picky about who he extends a helping hand to.

What is it about the cartoonish eyes for the original KH characters that I like so much? Was a question I had in the back of my mind for awhile. After a bit of study, I was able to break down just how the eyes work and discover just why I like them as much as I do.

So just how do these eyes work? If you haven't thought about them before, it might not be an easy one to answer. For me I compared and contrasted with other eyes, which helped me see what exactly is going on. Let me list what I learned in bullet points:

The iris and pupil are bigger than a human adult eye. This makes expression easier to read. While everything else is more to normal human scale, making it feel a bit more realistic, compared to a Disney style eye.

One thing I found interesting: that the eyes are closer in size to what you see in young children, in terms of scale. Human eyes don't really grow, while the face does. This makes the eyes of children seem larger and more expressive. KH eyes do the same thing.

It is not only the size and shape of the eyes that make a difference, it is also post processing effects. Seriously shaders make so much difference, in terms of readability of eyes, both to the positive and negative.

I've taken a look at the Legend of Zelda's animation choices, and found that they share similarities with KH's. However in terms of effectiveness, art style and post processing again make a huge difference.

Another surprise was that the eyes in BbS 0.2, are different than KH3's. I could get very technical here, but the gist is they completely redid the eyes for KH3, going back to what could be called "traditional" in terms of KH wise. As in everything is painted on instead of using shaders to do some of it.

Personally I find 0.2's eyes harder to read, so I'm hugely happy that they changed it. Still I found the comparison fascinating. Not every day you get to see the same scene done in different ways, especially with post processing effects.

And I think that is it. Can you tell I'm diving in further into animation, and visual storytelling? On a personal note, I've decided to focus on computer animation and game design, instead of writing. I'm still creating stories, but output wise I'm not planning on writing on some grand novel in the future. I love the immersion that games give, and I lean toward visual storytelling over written. So it is a prefect fit.

So, this is mostly because I need to vent about something, but...

This time on Ahsoka:

- never thought Huyang would end up as my favourite. I love his bitching about them not doing as they were told. Ahsoka is getting it in the montrals ALL THE WAY to Ezra. She'll never hear the last of it. And neither will Sabine, when they rescue her. And him with Jacen - that is going to be an epic relationship when the kid starts training. (Huyang as the new Yoda - grandmaster to all, all the sass, less of the outright lunacy.)

- ANAKIN! okay, yeah, so technically he appeared last week, but that was so much fun. Hayden looked like he was having an absolute BALL. And we got to see him playing Clone Wars Anakin, who is far superior to the angst ridden movie version. And, as bonuses -

* bb Ahsoka. Who, very interestingly, was wearing entirely the wrong outfit for it being "one of their first missions". I wonder why that might be? A touch inappropriate for a real-life child to wear? Hmm?

* REX! Rex in armour, and a single line, but I feel it bears saying again. REX!!! (I so wanted him to lift his bucket, and be Daniel Logan under there. Still time I suppose - I reckon Skyguy is going to appear again.)

* Did anyone else look out for familiar armour? Like, as soon as the first clone appeared?

And now, the point I forewarned you about. And anyone who actually pays attention to my rants about appropriate tagging will probably have guessed:

- why does it have to be BLOODY PURGILL??? That's rhetorical - I know why. I realised after the first 2 eps they were going to appear. That was, after months of telling my family I was really looking forward to Ahsoka, and then trying to tell them about her without their eyes glazing over, my brother asked me what I thought (no one else had watched yet), and I realised. Purgill. Blasted purgill in all their tentacley glory.

I just don't watch when they're on screen. I probably miss some things because of that but, just, nope. They were bad enough in Rebels, and I can usually cope with animated.

(Not always. Not a fan of Morgana in Little Mermaid 2, and I noped out of Finding Dory when I saw the poster. Apparently she's sweet, but no. Ursula, otoh, is almost entirely fine, despite the fact she's probably the cause. Octopus baddie, THAT scene, on a big screen at age 4? Yeah, it's probably her. I can never watch Blue Planet. Can't even deal with cuttlefish. Yeesh.)

And, just so I'm not leaving this on a negative, or my own personal weirdness, I'm pretty sure there are other people in the World Between the Worlds who might want to say hi to Ahsoka (and Ezra). Just sayin'...

Charlotte is the counterpart of my sona like i said before, he likes plants, animals and other stuff. It used as a comfort more specifically. My sona hates him out of jealousness

My sona despite not being a good person, and talking about that soft side he have, he does love his family. His future children will be not a exception, but i can asure you he will be protective. Since he wants them have a happy childhood unlike him.

TEA - TW// body horror? Weed mention

Tea is just a experiment called 'TT-09' a failed experiment for all the ages that suppose to be made for help the family being healthy

Instead of that they though he was a 'weed plant' instead of those plants for the tea one. But it was mistaken.

His body after all the tests became uncomfortable making him to shapeshift into a 8 to 12ft tall creature making his body being very lanky

His body would be very skinny and due to that it could appears eyes like weirdcore-ish wise since he is half of that aesthetic. Which it would make it more painful for him

He is usually small like bell, but he is a lil tall than her otherwise. He can change other plants too if he wants but is mostly food wise or others type of tea (honey tea, apple tea etc.) His main is the mint tea

He had been "adopted" by rose. He is confused if she actually sees him as son or not. Despite that he still calls her mother

His personality consist being a friendly and usually happy boy, he is not usually negative unless something really bad happens

He is still in development, but in relationship wise he loves bell a lot, he considers her as his partner, special person etc. He would do everything for her

So when I first into Blush Blush, I made 3 OCs, my first BB OCs. They looked so bad that I never finished them and don’t want to share them now, but I just got an idea to redesign one of them.

He has legs I just didn’t want to draw them, every time I did they looked awful and just made him look awkward. He’ll only be seen from the waist-up anyway, and this also makes the pic smaller so it doesn’t look blurry when it’s zoomed in

This is Rubin (pronounced roo-bin)! He gets turned into a capybara and he works at a spa (which is connected to capybaras because of all the pics of them just chilling with other animals.) And since capybaras don’t really have that many physical traits that stand out, I decided to give him webbed hands in his hybrid form, since they don’t have tails. All the other information is in the stats in the last pic.

I know that he looks like he literally has the same personality as Jax, he is different I swear. He actually is more outgoing and socially engaging than Jax, he is just more calmer in expressing it, and he is seen smiling more than Jax, I just drew him with the same expression that I drew him with the very first time I made him. He is very sweet, and tries to be good, but he’s also known to be blunt at times. He doesn’t mean anything by it, he was just raised to not have much of a filter. Most of the time he is just pointing something out, but it doesn’t mean it’s anything he sees as negative. There are things that can make him laugh, but I’ll list them when I get an idea.

Alright, as part of the drill, I’ll list some adjectives that describe him, I find this easier than trying to describe his personality. Since I already described the most negative thing about him, I’ll just list some positive ones: Sociable, sensible, patient, kind, trustworthy, affectionate, creative, helpful, and calming.

And, since it’s confusing, the notch is on his right eyebrow (his right), I didn’t think it through when I flipped his picture.

I have to say, even though the first pic was made at the beginning of the year, and was the first time I drew a capybara, I did pretty good getting the overall shape of one.

Below the cut is some outfits that are supposed to be his “street art clothes”, the art is a bit old, but it’s the only reference I have for these.

Nacsele Trivia

Time for me to dump some info about the Nacht x Josele ship! Not in any specific order, this is just me throwing some thoughts out. A romance and fluff and a little hurt/comfort because it's Nacsele.

Their favorite pastimes together are watching the sunset and stargazing.

Nacht once called Josele "my heart" the way Morgen used to and it made Josele burst into tears (in a bad way) for the next hour.

Josele is the only one who can talk Nacht into playing the violin (he usually opts for the guitar). She's the only one until they have kids that is.

Nacht's nicknames for Josele are "my star," "my angel," and "darling."

Josele nicknames for Nacht are "darling devil," "shadow prince," and "my hero."

Both will occasionally call each other "honey" too.

Nacht bleaches his hair back to white for a time after he and Josele get married. Because he knows Josele was fond of that look on him. He uses Shadow Veil to turn his hair black for formal events until his hair returns to normal.

Josele's favorite place to kiss Nacht would be his jaw. He's taller than her so it's an easy place to reach. And it's fun to tease him by kissing along his jaw until she reaches his lips.

Nacht's favorite place to kiss Josele is her lips. He loves the feel of Josele’s lips against his own so very much. And then he can just open his eyes to look at hers once the kiss is over and it sends him over the moon.

Nacht is also very fond of her sternum. It's not cause he's a perv (okay maybe he's a bit of a perv for Josele but ssshshshshshhhhhhhh!). It's because the mark of Josele's curse was on her sternum and now that she's curse free, Nacht likes to admire how that area of her body is clean again.

Some nights, Nacht has horrible nightmares about Morgen's death. His mind twists it so it felt like he intended to kill Morgen. He dreams of having killed Josele instead. Of hurting their children. Nacht screams and kicks awake, and Josele slowly and quietly helps Nacht calm down.

Nacht and Josele’s favorite date spot is a section of beach near their hometown that’s cut off by cliffs. They reach the area by teleporting through the shadows there. It's nice and cute off from the rest of the world so they can do whatever they like on that little beach space. Dance, picnic, kiss, skinny dip... You know, the usual date stuff.

They go on hunting dates together. Nacht doesn't master weapons the way Josele does (his best strategy is sneaking up on animals and then knifing their necks) but he's very skilled with hunting traps.

One of their traditions is exchanging gifts on New Year's Eve. It's never anything more extravagant than, say, a box of chocolates. Think tie pins or candles or a book. Sometimes the New Year's gift will complement a Christmas gift.

Okay one time Josele's New Year's gift to Nacht was way more elaborate than usual. It was Sirius and Merel's birth./lh+j

Very often, Nacht and Josele visit Morgen's grave together. But some days, Josele needs to be alone with Morgen. Some days, only the memories she has of him can comfort her and she won't even let Nacht in on those moments.

Sometimes, a date for the two of them is just sharing a pot of tea while Nacht plays guitar.

They play with each other's hair. Nacht likes to braid the parts of Josele's hair with the gray streaks left from Almatra's influence, to make sure Josele knows that they're still a beautiful part of her.

Josele likes to kiss the scar on Nacht's left wrist. Its presence brings painful memories (and I also imagine that the wound is tainted with negative mana so it'll always be a little sore until Nacht dies) so Josele kissing it comforts Nacht.

Nacht's chair in his vice captain's office at the BB base has seen... certain use...

The Bremen devils do indeed like to take the piss outta Nacht by suggesting that they are also married to Josele via Nacht.

Nacht knows of Josele's hang up with goodbyes. So if he has to leave her for any reason, he tells her "I will come back for you." The "for you" part has the double meaning of "arriving to collect someone" (like for a date) and "for someone's sake."

Review Everything 39 - Blue Beetle

Okay so I have very mixed feelings over this movie.

Let me just get the negatives out of the way. I am a George Lopez "hater". He's just one of those actors that I find to be really distracting because it seems like he never plays a character, he just plays himself in the world the movie takes place in. When he first showed up, with his mullet and his weird beard I said aloud to my Partner, "He's gonna be a distraction the whole movie." And while I was wrong on that, I still never really thought he disappeared into his role. Sorry Jaime, what was your uncle's name again? Pretty sure it was George Lopez?

On the plus side, he was balanced out by how silly the rest of the family is. So, at least in that aspect, he did blend into the rest of the movie well.

My second complaint is one that's a little more difficult to articulate.

At this point we, the American audience, are FLOODED with Super Hero media. If we only look at the stuff that's have come out since the MCU started and super hero media exploded onto the pop culture scene, we have like 33 movies from the MCU, 17 movies from DC, plus the what, 17 MCU shows, 50 animated DC movies, 10 DC cartoons, and 49 various animated things from shows to animated movies from Marvel. That's 167 super hero stories on the screen. Damn.

Most people who like super heroes, even if they only watch movies, or only watch cartoons, know how origin stories work. We've seen them over and over and over again. At this point, if you're going to introduce a new character you need their origin story to be really interesting. Two examples of this being done well, I think, are Spider-Verse and Moon Knight. Moon Knight has lots of room to stretch out the origin of its titular hero, and turn it into a sort of mystery based around how his powers affect his brain, very cool. Spider-Verse plays with the "yes we all know how Spider-Man works, we've had at lease five movies about this", giving us the story of how Migel's powers came to be and using that as a contrast to the story we all think we know. Then with each additional Spider-Person we may get a clifnotes version to how they came to be, or they may actively bat away the notion of bothering, because we know the basics. I fell like both of these approaches worked well for me, a super hero lover who is for sure experiencing the fatigue of being bombarded with super hero media for 15 fucking years.

I, personally, feel like, at this point in Super Hero movies, you either need to do something unique and interesting with how a character gets their powers or you need to speed through that part and get on to telling more interesting components of the stories. Unfortunately Blue Beetle failed to do either. They leaned really hard on what my SO called the Equal Opposites trope, or what I think of as the You But Evil Trope. It's actually called Evil Counterpart, but it's tired no matter what you call it.

Now all that being said, I want to get onto the good stuff. This movie lays good groundwork! We're introduced to the fact there there are other scarabs in the first few seconds of the movie and some cool color grading in the movie hints at who at least one of them might be. Like yes, the end of the movie just slaps a fuckin' Scarlet Scarab cameo in there, hinting at, "Hang on, a cool bad guy who doesn't look like a toaster's heating element gone evil is coming!" But the intro had what looked like more than the 3 or 4 there are in Young Justice. They also did a good job of endearing us not just to Jaime, but to his family and even to Jenny Kord, who I admit, I was disappointed wasn't a power suit lesbian. And man am I excited to see where the previous BB having a backup? Copy? Of his brain in his computer will go. Assuming we get a second movie, since DC isn't great about that.

The movie is really... Pretty, I guess is the word for it. It's very colorful, without the "gritty realism" filter on almost any of it. Absent are the muted tones I've come to expect from this genre, instead various scenes are spooky and purple colored for sneaky bad guys, lit in glorious bisexual lighting for scenes with conflicting emotions, sour raspberry blue dominates the... Beetle Cave? The movie is full of bright colors which makes it really stand out against most other live action movies from its genre! Also, having a main character played by a star who's already familiar with playing a character who's experienced with martial arts made for fewer cuts in fight scenes and more engaging combat. There was also lots of flowey, artsy, interesting camera work, with the camera often zooming around, through pipes, accessing odd places as if mounted on a drone. Again, dynamic, interesting.

Also, I was shocked at the pretty frank acknowledgement of things like racism and fascism in the move. I've seen other stuff in the genre make fascist bad guys, but for a character to yell about how their fascist government is, ya know, a fascist government? Refreshing! From what I've seen online plenty of folks fell well represented by Jaime, his family, and his culture, which is good to see.

I'm going to give this movie what feels like a fairly low rating considering the good parts of it, but please check out how my scoring system works to better understand the number score. Though this movie did a lot right in terms of visuals, and got a pass from me on a lot for getting a character I'm really fond of on the big screen at last, it was a fairly boring movie, mostly because it didn't do much new. Which, 15 years into an onslaught of getting pelted with super hero media, it did need to do to be a truly good movie. In Summary: Yay, a Blue Beetle movie that's colorful, keeps most of the fights engaging, lays out groundwork for expanding in the sequel, and does the character decent justice! Boo, casting big name actors who are a distraction, and not doing anything new or interesting with an origin story.
