BATTLER is a flurry of velvet and gold: Butterflies swirling without a place to light as he tears apart the study, each one readjusting every item he touches back to its proper place / Cloak billowing in a nonexistent breeze, threatening to ooze inky twilight and stars into the very fabric of the room itself. He is the Territory Lord, after all, and the single human that could unwrite his magic has yet to arrive on the stage.

When the many locks on the study door loudly click and release -- He can't remember setting them exactly, but the mansion is wont to shut itself up by nature of its writing -- he doesn't even turn around, both his hands and mind are too occupied by the spines of books that he's searching through with obvious frustration.

So, when an elegant hand takes him by the shoulder and turns him, when its owner gives him a smirk and reaches first to primly straighten out his heavy draping cape, then checks his vest the same way, and finally tugs at his tie with a cackle, all Battler does is take one quick breath.

"Beato--" A bit of the tension in his overwhelmed expression melts away as he says her name, mind finally catching up to the sight of her. Now he looks more anxious than anything else. His hands flutter between them just like the butterflies that immediately begin to drift toward the Golden Witch of 1986. Land in her hair and dance on her sleeves / They're innately drawn to her, of course. How couldn't they be if they're Battler's? "I can't find it--It's gone, I can't--Gaap swears she didn't take it, and we only just prepared the chapel, it's supposed to be anchored here, I--"

i've been rewatching parts of banquet and realizing the question kuwadorian beatrice most desperately wanted answered (and the question no one could even begin to answer without having to admit out loud how badly they have failed her) was "who am i?"

and that it is exactly that same question that beatrice poses to battler at the end of alliance as her final test for him before giving up. battler may forget his sin, but can he at the very least tell beatrice who she is? can he do this one thing that kinzo could not?

No  one  was  truly  alone  in  middle  of  Purgatory's  games.

This  was  the  sentence  he  really  wanted  to  expressing  with  brightness,  offering  all  the  reasssurance  associated  to  that  statement  he  wanted  honestly  to  share.  However,  how  much  this  was  true  ?  Of  course,  for  a  while,  inside  his  own  chessboard,  there  had  been  only  his  mind  and  his  thoughts  to  having  an  idea  of  an  plan  for  bouncing  back  towards  the  Golden  Witch,  when  he  had  indirect  allies  during  that  time.  Another  witch  had  been  supporting  his  position,  and  eventually,  he  did  managed  to  have  allies  along  the  way  …  When,  with  that  last  thoughts,  slow  decomposure  couldn't  help  to  return. ❝  You  aren't  alone  in  this  fight,  never.  ❞  He  actually  decided  to  bring  around,  when  thoughtfulness  of  his  expression  betrayed  his  wish  to  be  innocent.  ❝  It  all  depending  of  the  chessboard  you  are  coming  from.  It's  all  depending  of  circumstances  within  your  chessboard.  It's  all  depending  of  the  witch  you  are  facing.  ❞  For  the  moment,  he  wasn't  obligated  to  awakening  pleasant  memories  and  recollections  concerning  that  point  …  or  even  how  within  his  case,  he  had  to  please  the  God  of  the  Underground  with  his  chessboard.  She  needed  reassurance,  not  to  be  worried  over  weight  of  opponent.  ❝  Did  a  witch  take  a  dislike  to  you ?    ❞

Remember that in "Ill-Will Hunting!" Dawn seemed much more concerned and zealous for Gary's safety than for Ash's, like, she actually tried to stop Gary from going to help Ash, but didn't say anything when Ash went to fight kk. Like, not to sound like I'm criticizing Dawn, but it's really funny to see her being exclusively concerned about Gary.

Oh, you mean when they confront J and Brock stops her?

Idk I always saw that as she just wanting to go and fight too. And then Brock reassures her that Gary is a good fighter, so her support would be better used helping him take the Shieldons away than with Gary and Ash.

I'm writing in the hopes of reaching the author of a particular post concerning the mythical pokemon Jirachi and Diancie. While I found the post itself to be informative and concise, even more interesting to me was the Togekiss in your profile picture (and, as it turns out, pinned post). I'm Bede, elite fairy type Gym Leader of Ballonlea Stadium in Galar, although I presume everyone knows that by now. I find that Togekiss is a rare pokemon to find, even among fairy specialists. Their overall scarcity and discerning eye for potential trainers makes anyone successful in keeping one a point of interest; I suppose I was simply curious about your experiences training one.

Taken interest in my Togekiss, you say~? Well, it is a bit of a rare Pokémon, yes~! I’ve had Eden for… a number of years. The exact amount of time I’ve had her at my side is a bit fuzzy, however.

In any case, Eden has always been fiercely protective of me, even when she was a little Togepi. I believe such behavior is a bit odd in regards to her species, but it’s never been cause for concern, of course.

She’s the only Fairy type that I’ve raised, but I’ve garnered quite the appreciation for the type and the Togekiss line in specific~! She’s incredibly graceful and powerful when needed in battle… And training her proved to be rather simple since we seemed to be emotionally connected. Hm…

Aha, anyways. Since I’m not a professional battler in the slightest, I’m afraid I can’t give much feedback on the nitty gritty details that would hypothetically come from training a Togekiss. However I believe they’re incredibly loyal and strong companions… I’m entirely grateful for the help she’s given me through my journeys~!

okay, so maaaaaybe i was not so wrong when i took that timeline beato outlines for us on the rosa and the witch of the forest chapter and split it into two. as if there were 2 beatrices there instead of 1, the first who gave kinzo the gold and started the legend and the second who afterwards was "made", "created" to be beatrice. i had assumed game master beato was one (01) of those two and also put herself into the role of the other for some arbitrary reason. it had never occurred to me that she put herself in both roles because she was a mix of the two... which probably means beato really can't be understood as a person, in the sense that she can't be an individual being, since she's a couple of different things stitched together... fml. okay, so maybe i was half right but i still think there's an element here i'm not understanding (battler?)

but maaaaaaybe this is it. the two of them existed separately for a long time up until battler came along six years prior to 1986. then they joined, forming the little charismatic blondie beato we know. shhh no one make a sound, i can see this make sense

The one fashioned from a miracle herself, born from death and split and split. This sapling / chick / piece of the Golden Witch who waited an eternity for his recognition, an eternity that ended in the death of whatever hopes she had left. Whichever few he'd managed to help keep alive with his bumbling deductions and pitifully helpless rambling weren't enough AND HOW COULD THEY HAVE BEEN? Only another miracle will let it change, will rewrite the heartless fate forced on the witch by birth, by chance, by a roll of loaded dice and the spin of a roulette always destined to end in despair.

BATTLER -- because that's who he is now, draped in heavy fabric and protecting their territory, their game, with every breath and beat of his heart -- sighs softly. Hardly offers a glance up from his place at his practice board in the remade Kuwadorian, pawns and knights repositioning beneath a flurry of golden butterflies, restructuring his latest defensive maneuver against Erika. He sighs because he doesn't know what else to do. Any real answer won't reach the Beatrice he wants it to and uttering those words to this one would only be cruel. Worse than cruel. Unforgiveable. He knows what she's really asking, and so he answers in kind:

"You know I have to preside over the game. I can't stay here and do that at the same time." As if they've spoken when he is here. As if any of this is fair, or right, or justified. It's the opposite and he knows it. "If there's something you need here, Kumasawa will find it." Finally, finally he looks up at her, at her crumpled expression and the glassiness of her ultramarine eyes, the slump of her shoulders and hopeful way her hands are folded, like trying to be polite through a torrent of emotion might protect her heart. BATTLER can't let that tide take him in. There's a plan, risks and all, that he has to follow.

If only he could have his torn out like Beato's was in the third game. Then, maybe, his voice wouldn't sound so choked when he adds, "Not me. I can't be here with you."
