So I was just watching an NCHammer23 video and when he was talking about Guy noticing TenTen has some skills in storing and summoning jutsus but was largely useless compared to other ninjas in her age group, I had a lightbulb go off in my head about 2 different ways in which TenTen could have been made stronger. Starting with Flying Raijin.
I know, I know, it's an incredibly chakra-taxing technique, and I don't think she'd be able to do it nearly to the extent that it's inventor and Minato could. Maybe 10 times per fight to make it believable. But think of how well it would complement her kenjutsu-only fighting style. Allow me to explain.
Minato used it largely for killing enemies up-close faster than they can react. Yeah, maybe TenTen could use it that way, but I think it would make more sense for her to use it in tandem with long-range throwing weapons. Think of her as essentially a ninja sniper that could teleport to another place on the battlefield as soon as enemies get close to her. In a 1vs1 fight this might not work out all that well in her favor, and especially not if it's just her fighting multiple enemies since she'd probably use up her chakra teleporting awayfrom enemies in no time. But keep in kind that she was usually teamed up with *3* close-range fighters, basically all 3 of them being monsters (yes even Neji, he was just a more defensively-oriented taijutsu specialist as opposed to Guy and Lee). All 3 of them would be amazing distractions on the battlefield to draw attention away from TenTen so she can concentrate on her throwing-weapon sniping capabilities. And Neji with his nearly 360° of vision and 800 or so meters in range in any direction, he could also be able to keep an eye on her situation and make sure enemies don't get too close to her. At least he could've done that for her until he died in the 4th Great Ninja War (rip).
Now for the other improvement: Medical Ninjutsu. Reminder, thanks to Tsunade, every team is supposed to have 1 medical ninjutsu specialist. Guy and Lee definitely wouldn't fit that role, and maybe Neji could but he's *not the best* for that role on that team, as he's still a close-combat type. Another reminder, Tsunade laid out the rule that medical ninja are not supposed to get up close and personal (unless you have that seal on her forehead thing but I digress). This suits TenTen perfectly, since she's a long-range fighter type. She stays out of sight and attacks from blind spots while the rest are drawing attention away from her, until her medical ninjutsu is needed. Someone on her team gets hurt and needs to be healed? She heads in and heals them, and the other 2 can defend her and the injured during that time.
But I'm not stopping by keeping the 2 improvements separate from each other. If she has both of the added skills I mentioned at once, she'd be able to use Flying Raijin *and* medical ninjutsu in tandem. Imagine not having to rush in and fight through waves of enemies to heal your allies, because you're able to just teleport to your injured teammate's side with a seal you personally placed on them before, saving precious seconds or minutes for treating them that could otherwise possibly cost them their lives.
And just like that, you make TenTen a really useful ninja. Not a powerhouse, and not someone that is made for 1v1 combat like a lot of the others, but she becomes one of the best support ninjas around, combining long-range attacks (and not the flashy kind that might be detected before they hit, btw), unpredictability and maneuverability, and basically being the team's white mage. And she *still* has her main area of skill and expertise in throwing weapons, she just has other skills to complement that.

Do you all see the vision
OKAY so I wanted to do some timeskip designs for the rest of the BB League+Carmine and make some nicer quality refs/refine the ones I've already done. Starting with Kieran! I imagine running the Battle Subway prrrrobably isn't super conducive to the healing process of losing his brother for Emmet, so eventually he has to admit that and find a replacement to at least take a break for a while.
#pokemon#pkmn#champion kieran#subway boss Emmet#mine#my art#also needed to prove that i do know how to use colored pencils#grey au#kieran#uh imagine i gave him a yellow hairtie thanks#OH I forgot to write this on the page but it also does take a LOT of battling skill and knowledge to be a battle facility boss

Actually, the most impressive thing about Skeleton Crew was how it understood the value of keeping the story small.
When your heroes are small, sheltered, inexperienced children, everything feels huge and threatening.
When none of the characters have the Force, you don't need characters who can move buildings with their minds. The guy who can do a teeny bit of stuff with the Force has a terrifyingly huge advantage.
Barely using the Force means that little examples of using the Force--like making a small object float--can invoke a major sense of wonder.
When only one character has a lightsaber, you don't need huge sword battles. A single blow from a lightsaber becomes a terrifying dramatic moment.
The villains don't need to have weapons that can blow up entire galaxies. If you have a few villains who can put the heroes, their families, and their home in danger, the stakes are as high as they need to be.
You don't need to draw characters and plot points from fifteen other stories. You just need to set up plot points that are well-foreshadowed in this story.
It keeps the story grounded, relatable, and understandable, while still having tons of tension and excitement and adventure. You don't have to make the story big. You just have to keep the heroes small.
#skeleton crew#star wars#the 'barely any skill with the force' thing was the thing i obsessed most over#it works so well!#it makes him terrifying!#with barely anything#and it's so much more impressive than big showy force battles#it reminds me a lot of that scene in rebels#where obi wan takes out a guy in three seconds with like one stroke#and it's the coolest sword fight there is

Night has fallen on Yavin 4. The jungle hums with distant creatures. Leia and Ahsoka sit cross-legged on smooth temple stones under the stars.
Leia (eyes closed, exhaling): I don’t feel anything. Just… bugs.
Ahsoka (smiling gently): It takes time. The Force doesn’t shout. It whispers.
Leia: It probably knows I’m not a very good listener.
A quiet wind stirs the trees. Ahsoka’s face falters. She straightens.
Leia: …What is it?
Ahsoka (sighs): Oh no. Not again.
Two glowing blue forms shimmer into existence a few meters away.
Anakin (grinning): Hey, Snips. Miss me?
Obi-Wan (stoic, arms folded): I told you not to interrupt.
Anakin: I was being quiet. She looked bored.
Ahsoka (muttering): You're both dead. Go be dead.
Anakin: Wow. Harsh.
Obi-Wan: She’s meditating with Leia. Show some respect.
Anakin: I’m her father!
Obi-Wan: Which is exactly why you shouldn’t be here.
Leia shifts uncomfortably. Eyes still closed.
Leia: Ahsoka…?
Ahsoka: Hm?
Leia (quietly): You’re not alone.
Ahsoka (pauses, then calmly): No.
Leia: I can’t see them. But I know.
Ahsoka (softly): You’re more attuned than you think.
Anakin steps closer, beaming.
Anakin: Look at her! Same determination. Same scowl. Same—
Obi-Wan: Lack of patience.
Anakin: Hey!
Leia opens her eyes. Stares directly where they're standing. Doesn’t flinch.
Leia (coolly): Are they always this noisy?
Ahsoka: Yes.
Leia: Like an old married couple.
Ahsoka: They're worse...
Obi-Wan: Thank you.
Anakin: HEY!
Ahsoka cracks a smile. Leia suppresses one too.
Leia: I’m not sure if this makes me feel better… or worse.
Ahsoka: Welcome to the Jedi experience.
Anakin: It’s not all bad. You get glowing afterlife powers.
Obi-Wan: And chronic secondhand embarrassment.
Anakin: Must you always—
Leia (to Ahsoka, standing): Let’s walk. Quietly. Before they follow.
Ahsoka (getting up, amused): Oh, they’ll follow.
Leia (half-smiling): Of course they will.
The two walk into the jungle, their cloaks swaying. Behind them, two Force ghosts bicker in muffled tones.

I think a lot about Leo’s tendency to push his way into the spotlight despite clearly being a natural in the shadows. Hell, you could argue that his worst moments are when he’s forcing himself onstage, and his best are when he does things no one notices until it’s already been done.
#rottmnt#rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles#rottmnt leo#rottmnt headcanons#rise leo#His aptitude with subterfuge sleight of hand stealth and speed really push how being a ninja really comes naturally to him.#it’s arguable that his desperation for the spotlight and validation is an act of subterfuge against himself#note that when he’s offered a job as a mascot he’s fine being unknown#when he and splinter win the battle nexus Leo immediately says ‘they love YOU pops’#idk I think so much about how good a ninja Leo is#and how much his persona is more an actor#Leo as a tot is shown a natural skill at katana too so hear me out-#every Leo is a natural ninja but every Leo’s route in life is directly tied to their splinter so#since rise splinter is an actor Leo too aims for it#and he brings it into his whole life - masking always because a Leo makes what they do who they are#I think that Leo naturally falls more in line with that of a typical ninja#his eccentric performer self is his subterfuge skill just set to an 11 at all times#not that that’s NOT him - like I said it’s still undoubtedly a part of Leo#but? idk I think about little moments like Leo being the only one to choose stealth in bug busters#or Leo being the only one to almost get Gus’s dog tags in The Ninja Art of Hide and Seek (he was so close but luck was against him alas)#like- he’s clearly in his element there and he falls into those skills so easily#it’s like how everyone has skills in so many things but some exceed more in some than others do#like Raph? Raph’s the biggest Hero of the bunch of them let’s be perfectly real here. Raph is THE Hero#All the boys are smart in their own rights but Donnie is THE Genius.#and they all have mystic powers but Mikey is THE Mystic Warrior with immense untapped potential#likewise Leo I feel is THE Ninja#but yeah I love how much Leo goes for the spotlight anyway for better or for worse#he IS a performer again make no mistake! but again the way he does it still lines up with his natural ninja aptitude and I love it#Leo loving magic tricks and magicians so much works doubly well here because like#you’d think he’s focused solely on the performance flair - no it’s ALSO and ESPECIALLY the DECEPTION

Sif can't do shields, and they tragically don't have 'Make Up Time', but they have a skill that heals 50% of someone's HP and boost their attack (3 cooldown time)
They still have 'Turn It Up' and the default 'attack one enemy with scissor craft', but instead of ' Too Cleaver by Half' which targets all enemies he has 'Twice as Sharp' which hits two targets and has 2 cooldowns. They have no 'hits all enemies' attacks.
Ciu sif gains wack skills when they level up though
"Change it up I" make them change to paper type for 3 turns! (6 cooldown) (I actually did art for this one)
''Double Gamble" attacks a single target twice and deals Heavy Damage, but the type is 50/50 between scissors and paper. It adds two Scissors or Papers to the jackpot (4 cooldown).
"Change it up II" Make them change to rock craft, (8 cooldown). Can't use Double Gamble while using it.
Not what was asked but here is a funfact: Overall the housemaiden is slower than og siffrin, in a race or a test of stamina he would lose significantly (if they were put in the scenario where siffrin lost his eye, they would be too slow to save bonnie), but their attack speed is roughly the same, such is the joys of dual wielding.
EDIT: the housemaiden is still slower than the traveler, but I decided they should keep Make Up Time.
#change it up au#mira is still the adorable moving shield girl! she is incredible at support skills#and isa can't go to many battles so ROCK is a rare craft type 'change it up II' less weak than it looks...#even if it usually can only be used once per battle because of the obscene cooldown#isat au#isat

Look Outside Recruit Concepts
It’s that time again! Time to ramble about thoughts and concepts for how a few additional hypothetical Look Outside party members could work!
Chosen from among what I consider to be the most likely candidates, and outlining fun roles and abilities for them to have. Not to mention a few silly mechanics thrown in there for fun.

Jeanne — the Hydra
A slow but otherwise average all-rounder. Jeanne is held back by her reluctance to actually use her new predatory parts offensively for entirely understandable reasons, but she’s still very helpful!
Recruited by waiting one full day after you help her with her laundry problem ravenous uncontrollable head problem. Jeanne has calmed down enough to accompany Sam’s party on expeditions!
It’s no trouble at all, she insists… especially since her main body remains back home in her apartment. Her head follows Sam’s party around by dangling down from the ceiling!
“I, uh, swear I didn’t make this hole I’m hanging down from.” She comments sheepishly if you speak to her in your apartment. “Seriously, what is with these holes cropping up in the floorboards and rafters all over the building?”
Passive Quirks
Regular attacks used by Jeanne have a chance to (unintentionally) inflict a layer of bleed.
Early Skills
• Mucus Coating
Jeanne coils around an ally, covering them in a protective layer of mucus. For a few turns, the benefitted ally is resistant to poison and disease, as well as becoming slippery and more evasive. Costs very little STM.
• Shed Skin
Jeanne sheds her outermost later of skin, restoring a small amount of health (10% of her total HP) and cleansing her of all negative physical status effects. Can only be used while she has a negative physical status effect. Costs a medium amount of STM.
Late Skills
• Coil
Jeanne wraps her long body around an opponent to inflict the very rare ‘constricted’ status, which deals crushing damage over time. This also makes the target easier to hit for the duration of the constricting. Costs a heavy amount of STM.
• Armed Through the Teeth
Jeanne sheds one of her many teeth in order to provide a weapon to an ally in the heat of battle. Jeanne’s teeth have the basic ‘stab’ skill, deal slashing damage, and cannot be sold. They also break easily, and do not provide junk when they do.
Scared Frederick — the Coward
Weak and frail, but one of the fastest things in the entire game! Especially useful if you have a well-stocked inventory of combat items as they bypass Scared Fred’s low attack while taking advantage of his speed.
Has all sorts of useful skills! But unfortunately, Scared Fred starts each battle afflicted by the ‘panicking’ status which prevents him from using (most of) them until it wears off or he’s given medication.
Recruited by coaxing him out of his closet after having ‘taken care’ of the hostile Freds (Faceless, Shadow, and Green). This convinces him that, whatever’s out there, he’s much safer with you.
Basically, he finally takes you up on your ‘Let’s get you out of here’ offer! This doesn’t mean he likes fighting. Scared Fred will exit your party and flee back to your apartment if your danger level reaches its maximum. He’ll apologize for it later.
“I-I really am sorry for running away! But… but you’ve seen them too, right…? Those strange black shapes, flitting at the edge of your vision? Most people act l-l-like they aren’t there, but people like you and m-me… we can s-see them… and they can touch us Sam… I’m sorry. I just couldn’t handle it.”
Scared Frederick’s hangout spot in your apartment is your closet, unless Xaria and Monty have taken over your room. In which case he will relocate to the sink.
Passive Quirks
Scared Frederick is 100% susceptible to receiving the ‘panicked’ and ‘afraid’ statuses from any move with a chance to inflict them, regardless of any resistances provided by gear or in-combat buffs.
Exits the party and retreats to your apartment if the danger meter maxes out.
Has a weakness to acid damage.
Starts each battle panicking.
Early Skills
• Jittery Dance
A panicked, frenzied dance that has a chance to confuse all opponents. Can be used while panicked and can ONLY be used while panicked. Uses a tiny amount of STM.
• Paint Lob
Fred takes a chunk of his own painty body and lobs it at a single opponent, dealing a small amount of typeless ranged damage. This attack has a high chance to inflict blindness. Costs no STM, but causes Scared Fred to lose 10 HP upon use. If used against any Fred, it will heal them instead of dealing damage!
Late Skills
• Evasive Instinct
A guaranteed escape (from all encounters where escaping is possible) in exchange for a massive chunk of Fred’s STM!
• Overwhelmed Exit
Scared Fred reaches his limit and hides inside Sam’s inventory to provide support instead. This provides Sam with a buff to all stats (except speed, which is debuffed) for the duration of combat, as well as completely removes Fred from the fight. He’ll rejoin the group once combat is done, though. Requires that Fred’s stamina be below 25% in order to be used, but has no actual STM cost.
The Shadow — The Shadow
A massive damage sponge that specializes in redirecting damage and other support! With a glaring drawback.
The Shadow cannot equip weapons or even perform basic attacks. Additionally, they regain half the normal amount of healing from food outside of combat, though they will heal to full health if given a day to rest at home.
Don’t worry, if Shadow is the last party member left standing, you’re not unable to do ANY damage thanks to their only damaging skill: Rummage! What better way to incorporate the Shadow’s random gift mechanic than by using it offensively? After one turn of preparation rummaging around in their cloak, the Shadow deploys a random battle item. You can luck out and get a grenade, or get unlucky with a dinner plate. A good option if you have a turn to burn or only care about damage, but far from reliable.
They also seem to have a strange taste for this Black Ooze stuff that everyone else finds… unpalatable…
Inherent Quirks
Does not have standard attacks.
Halved healing from food
Black Ooze restores 40 HP instead of… you know.
Early Skills
• Rummage
Shadow rifles through the contents of their cloak, which uses up their turn. Their next turn is locked in as using their actions to throw the random damaging battle item they found the turn prior. No STM cost.
• Envelop
The Shadow opens up their cloak and (consensually) shields a party member within. Damage they take from almost all sources is redirected towards Shadow until the end of the next turn. Envelop cannot redirect damage from statuses or from self-inflicted sources like Joel’s teething or lifedrain from Tickle’s items. When the enveloped party member is released, they have a chance to be panicking, confused, or even afraid (though this status is the rarest outcome). Very low STM cost.
Late Skills
• Ominous Stare
The Shadow stares ominously, gaining the nervous attention of the target and causing them to take 25% more damage from the next attack that strikes them. It’s important to know the order of your team’s attacks in in order to maximize the boosted damage, as only the first strike of a multi-hit attack gets the damage boost. The effect of the stare can be stacked, but seeing as this would require multiple turns of not dealing any damage to the target, this is usually inadvisable. Medium STM cost.
• Osmose
The Shadow uses the hands within their cloak to draw physical ailments out of all allies, transferring all negative physical status effects onto themself. Cannot be used while Shadow has a physical status effect. Starts free, but costs more and more STM as it’s used during the same battle.
#character recruit concepts#look outside#look outside game#look outside spoilers#sam#the shadow#frederick#scared frederick#tried to keep Jeanne’s skill emphasizing stuff that WOULDN’T giver her flashbacks to being forced to eat people#scared frederick was fun as hell I just kept thinking up fun concepts for him#for shadow I wanted to stick to how they won’t ever actually attack in battle

Pokemon trainer AU, Reborn is the champion meanwhile Tsuna is his apprentice. Tsuna’s design belongs to my friend @Cloud_Knee (Twt or X)
#katekyo hitman reborn#r27#sawada tsunayoshi#reborn#my friend and i discussed about which pokemon would be in their team. eevee and umbreon was ther for their similar looks to r27 lol#flygon is a good candidate bc yk. leon. and for tsuna suprisingly we liked the idea of meloetta (bc meloetta has two forms like how tsuna-#-has his normal vibe and his dying will mode)#for reborn we thought of him having a liking for bug types bc of his bug communication skills. like his seasonal bug thing#we also thought of lore for a whole game which was heavily based on pokemon mystery dungeon bc we wanted death (future arc spoilers oof)#but general beginning plot is: tsuna dislikes having pokemon battles so all his pokemons are non-combat#- somehow he meets reborn (? idk maybe bro trips and got silly and he now owes reborn something). and reborn then seeing how close-minded-#tsuna is he decided to accept tsuna as his apprentice so he finally gets it#we discussed about tsuna also seeing reborn often at a lot of places but never got in contact (bc we thought of him living on a mountain idk#like how everyone cant see through reborn’s disguises but he can. so he’ll just see him around (bc reborn is hiding himself from the public)#as a champion. yeah#yeah thats about it i think. ive forgotten most of our ideas dkdgkgfhfhfj maybe another time

Been working on some first run Chou sprites for funsies, here’s a handful of the ones I’ve done so far
#keese draws#isat#new game+#comic siffrin#comicfrin#isat siffrin#I mainly just wanted to figure out how chou may express differently than normal siffrin#they are alas far less kitty cat </3#but yeah even in their first run they were generally much lower energy than siffrin mostly due to stress#they are less used to traveling for long periods of time along with the whole savior thing going on#and while they start off generally handling their timeloop situation well enough even by the time they get the second orb they’re Tired man#and after the incident where they lost their eye they’re So ready for this to be over#and they haven’t even hit the wall of their final boss fight yet it took them a long while to get through that for the first time#the main thing is that their party spended most of their journey far more underleveled#for most of the main fights they were able to scrape through since the crew did have some disproportionally powerful abilities earlier than#the isat party would have similar skills (like their first recruit is a full blown shield specialist)#but as they got further and further and the boss gimmicks got more specific and punishing it would get Much harder#in the fight where chou lost their eye they were stuck for Months the first run trying to find a way to squeak through the fight#in game terms basically trying to abuse the consistent rng seed to find a chain of actions that would let them win#long story short the boss basically acts as a harsh punish for their lack of a proper healer#it also for realsies kills people like. during the battle. so the margin for error is slim to none.#basically once it takes out someone it’ll continue to target them and it can’t have its intent redirected#and it’s resistant to all craft types until it’s about to and failed to perform the final blow attack#without going too much into the party comp and how they generally fight just know that even if they weren’t underleveled this would low key#hard counter them since their whole game plan is about redirecting damage and simply killing the enemy before it kills them#so during this first run this fight was actual hell for chou to figure out and poor bastard hadn’t even hit their worst wall yet 😔#anyways that was a whole ramble that had nothing to do with the actual post I’m making. whoops.#point is they’ve earned the right to be low energy and stressed as hell they were Not built to carry a rpg party
