BTAS Riddler x Reader - Full Playthrough

“Edward, what’s this?”

“Oh, you’ll see.” Ed smiled. 

You sat up straight in a plush office chair, staring at a large computer monitor. An 8-bit epic score played through the speakers and a pixelated title on the screen in green text: 

“The Riddle of the Minotaur”

Below the title was blinking green text stating; 

“Press Enter to Start.”

When you finally read the title, you smiled up at Edward. 

“It’s your game! I-I didn’t think you had a copy still…after what happened.”

Edward sighed, nodding. “Despite…the outcome of my game being stolen right from under me…I’m still very proud of it.” 

“You should be!” You exclaimed. 

Edward leaned in and gently nestled his chin into your left shoulder. 

He whispered warmly into your ear. “But now, it would mean the world to me if…you played it in it’s entirety.”

You gasped. You always enjoyed playing Eddie’s puzzle toys and video games. They always got you to think outside the box and they were super fun too! Not to mention, you adored the praise he gave you for solving them. 

Now, one of his most well known (or perhaps…infamous?) creations was in front of you. Waiting to go on a virtual enigmatic adventure. 

‘I-I’d love to Eddie! This is exciting!” Edward chuckled. He always did love your enthusiasm for his creations. 

He lifted his head up from your shoulder and gave an encouraging kiss to your temple. 

“Good luck, darling. And don’t be surprised if it’s a bit different than what you might have learned when it was released.” 

After that Edward walked out of his office, leaving you a bit confused at that last statement. 

You knew a little about the game, it’s setting, and the objective to get to the center of a maze and outsmart the Minotaur. You have heard some kid beat the game while The Riddler was at large. What was the kid’s name? Tom? Dick? Harry?

You shrugged it off, maybe Edward just added a couple more puzzles or maybe updated some riddles?

Pushing down on the “enter” button, the game finally began. 

Minutes soon turned into a couple of hours. 

Your hands flew across the keyboard–answering riddles, clicking on arrows to navigate through the winding maze. 

A couple riddles were some you have heard or seen before:

“What is the shortest distance between a point in Nome, Alaska, and a point in Miami, Florida?”

You even recognized one of Edward’s favorite riddlers. 

“I have billions of eyes, yet I live in darkness. I have millions of ears yet only four lobes…”

Of course, the brain…duh!

You have yet to run into the Hand of Fate or the Minotaur. 

You couldn’t help the proud smirk that grew on your face as you saw the center of the maze up ahead on the map. 

However, now the questions…seemed to have changed. 

The riddles thus far have been fairly usual and some were related to the theme of the Minotaur mythos…

Yet, these last few had a more…romantic feel?

“I can break, I can be clogged, I can be attacked, I can be given, I can be kept, I can be crushed, yet I can be whole at the same time. What am I?” 

A heart…

You navigated further to the center before you hit another riddle. 

“I hurt the most when lost, yet also when not had at all. I’m sometimes the hardest to express, but th easiest to ignore. I can be given to many, or just one. What am I?” 

You tapped your finger on top of the mouse as you pondered. 

“Love…” You typed out the word and pressed the enter key. 

Heart, love…odd but you could feel your cheek slightly warm. Perhaps, these were the changes he made, to make the game more special for your playthrough. 

Finally, you are just outside the center of the maze. You’re confronted by the Minotaur before you can pass through the final gate. 

The pixelated minotaur raised his blade before asking a final riddle. 

“Answer the riddle…and you shall pass to the center of the maze. If you answer incorrectly, you shall perish.” The red text typed out the Minotaur’s speech. 

“For your final riddle…” The Minotaur began. 

“...It connects two people…yet it only touches only one. What is it?” 

An empty text box appeared at the bottom of the speech box. A vertical line blinked, waiting for an answer. 

“W-What?” You asked out loud to yourself. 

Connects two people…but only touching one or the other?

You were lost in thought, so much so you didnt’ hear the door open and someone slowly walking behind you. 

Edward wore a proud wide grin on his face. You were so close to the finish line and he had the perfect reward. 

“A…not a…ugh…there was love…heart…it’s gotta connect.” 

You gasped as your mental lightbulb went off. You typed sporadically on the keys. 

“A…wedding…ring?” You pressed enter. 

The screen went black for a moment, before showing your warrior character in the middle of the maze standing in front of a trove of treasures. 

Your smile grew wide as the text came up confirming your victory. 

“Eddie!” You hollered as you jumped out of your seat. “I did it!” 

“I knew you could, darling.” Eddie beamed. 

You jumped again this time in surprise more than excitement. 

Edward was right behind you, a soft look filled with affection topped with a sweet smile. 

“Eddie! W-When–how–I, I did not see you-”

Edward chuckled. “I wanted to be here just before your inevitable win. I knew you would…but you never cease to amaze me.” 

You giggled as you rushed over to him, planning for an embrace. But before you got your arms around him–he dropped down on one knee. 

Your eyebrows scrunched in the middle. 

Then another lightbulb goes off. 

The riddles, the answers…especially near the end. 

“I may be the smartest man in this world…but only you could make me the happiest man in this world…will you marry me?” 

You got your second wind to rush him again, to finally embrace him. This time you followed through and even knocked him down to the ground. 

“Yes! Yes!” You shrieked excitedly, “I’d love to!” 

Edward sighed in relief as he tightened his arms around you. When you finally let up, Edward gently slid the ring on your finger. 

“It connects two people…” He began. 

When the ring nestled around the base of your finger, your smile widened more than when you won the game.

“Yet, it only touches one.” You finished.

So when he plans to go out with jervis for the evening he automatically notices the uncomfortableness that has found its way onto your face.

He tries to pry gently. Years off and on in the mad house teachs you that some don’t have the ability to easily talk about some things.

Now when you actually do tell him he’s going to be a little stunned for a moment

You wouldn’t think that about him would you? Oh criminal he may be but he’s not-

He knows that words can only go so far

If he can he pretty much brings you wherever he can if not nothing is stopping him from taking a page out of the dark knight and investing in trackers

"Baby proof" The fuck?

Edward Nygma X Reader

You guys are doing nothing but to fuel my baby fever worse and I'm here for it.

💚 Arkhamverse

~ Let's start this by saying: Edward will not be subjecting his little angel through the baby talk, as he claims it sounds patronising and is to be reserved for weak minded people... At least, he won't be caught doing so. It's not patronising if he does it, he insists.

"Now, cheating is a crime that should be punishable be death and death alone. Do you understand?"

"Ba?"

"Indeed. Cheaters such as—!"

"Ba?"

"Batman, yes! Oh you're growing to be a genius!" Edward lovingly snatches your son Eric from his crib and holds him up, the Riddler affectionately nuzzling his forehead against his son's. "Oh yes, you are! Genius like papa!"

~ He was afraid of his father, he does not have the healthiest image of what a father is supposed to be. When he heard you were having a baby, he panicked and thought he was in no way, shape or form, to be a proper father and the first thing he did was to run off, thinking an absent father was better from an abusing one, something he himself wished when he was young.

Upon sitting him down to talk about it, the feeling subsides for a moment. It wasn't easy for him to be in terms of what is going to happen. And then it happened. The baby boy he fears is suddenly in his arms and everything melted for a moment. The first time he heard Eric cry, it wasn't his first instinct to shrink away and leave it to you like he had expected, instead he started rocking the babe to soothe him. After that, he was practically attached to Eric.

~ Feeding the thing... It isn't an easy feat, it's a mess. Instead of feeding from the spoon, little Eric instead grabs it out of curiosity and play with it. Yes, he is also capable of tossing bowls just to see what will happen. It's amusing for a while, but you both would want to feed Eric to get on with it and not waste food.

"Please for the love of--" Edward holds the green spoon near Eric's mouth, only to withdraw it away when the babe attempts to grasp the spoon instead. "No, no! You eat, Eric. Eat."

The Riddler once again, attempts to feed his child. And for the umpteenth time, Eric grabs the spoon instead, making Edward sigh. At least this time, Eric actually shovels the food from his tiny fist and eat from it.

💚 Batman the animated series

~ It's odd to imagine, but gosh do I see him taking a crunchy route once his babies are born. Like this guy becoming so conscious about certain chemicals and substances in every day objects that are... Lethal to a degree, but watered down, you get what I mean right? I mean, he is not taking the full route of being a crunchy parent, he is Edward 'The Riddler, former video game programmer, avid instant noodles enjoyer, technology enthusiast and expert' motherfucking Nygma, not Poison Ivy.

And when your little angel Eden was born, as much as he can, strays away from chemically strong materials.

"No wet wipes, pacifiers are questionable, don't let that near my baby. A toy? A-A plastic toy? I don't think so." - Edward to Harley when she asked what she can gift to Eden.

~ He came to accepr the responsibility of fatherhood when you came to him about it. He even thought it was about time and quite frankly, even if he was unsure, he was a little excited.

~ He thought that the baby proof baby bowl's are not up to his standards. First of all, the chemicals in that thing and second of all, it should be green. And so he constructs his very own version like the Riddler being Riddler. And when it came to test it, well...

The curious darling that is Eden, of course, easily got the device unstuck and tossed it away. Thankfully, there wasn't any food in there since you were just at the testing phase, but it makes it clear to you that your baby is a handsy little thing. But it did not dismay Edward from trying again, instead, he takes it as a learning opportunity! He shall invent a baby proof sticky bowl his grabby little Nygma can't toss away!

💚 Batman Unburied

~ There is this underlying feeling that your daughter might grow up as a daddy's girl, due to the fact that you're starting to see she is a touch more clingy when it comes to her father. Not that she hates you, oh she loves you... Not as much as her father, though. And Edward is going to be flaunting and taunting you with it.

~ Edward was excited to become a father, the moment you told him the news, in fact, had began brainstorming E names for his baby. And when Ella was born, he was attached to her. It would take you both hands and colourful threats to get your turn to hold your baby. But it really is heartwarming to see him bond with his child, just a sight to melt at because she might be the only thing he will not roast all to hell. Not yet, maybe.

~ The feeding shenanigans. He was fucking amused to see Ella grip the trusted baby bowl and effortlessly lifted off the table before she threw it away, Edward took pictures of it to commemorate it. Edward has undoubtedly collected myriads of photos of Ella, he's that dad.

The man found ways not to find this irritating at all, so he found ways to feed Ella. This girl is getting her nutrition, one way or another and the bowl tossing will not deter him at all. King of Riddles and Puzzles, what's a bowl-tossung baby to him?

BTAS Riddler - First Date Night

“Just where are you taking me, Eddie?” You asked in between confused giggles. 

This was your first date night with him since his release from Arkham. To say you missed him was an understatement.

You gasped when you saw a bright neon sign outside of a building. “An arcade! You remembered!” 

Ed chuckled. “Of course, I did. Now, don’t get any ideas…I won’t help you cheat at any of them.” 

“Aww, but Ed most of these games are rigged!” 

“I’ll be the judge…and if that is the case…perhaps and exception can be made.” He muttered the last part under his breath, but you could still understand what he said. 

You wrapped your arms around his neck and gave him a kiss on the cheek in gratitude. 

“Come on, come on, let’s go!”

It was fair to say that what you said held true. Not that you didn't genuinely try your hardest at some of the games, but a few were a tad impossible and thankfully you had your genius boyfriend to help get your name on the scoreboard. 

There were some games that Edward did owe you his help. After all, he was the cause for you to lose some challenges. Like when you were trying to win a plushie of your favorite animal in a crane game. 

He had wrapped his arms around you again but only to tuck his head into your neck and begin leaving small kisses on your neck and cheek. 

Edward’s lips lingered on your skin, causing you to lose focus. When he decided to attempt a little love bite on your neck, it caused you to lower the claw prematurely. 

You weren’t sure whether to be frustrated that you lost once more to your affectionate boyfriend…or that you couldn’t jump his bones right then and there. 

“Eddie…”

Edward chuckled, as he slowly retracted his arms. “Sorry, dearest, I couldn’t resist.” He walked up to the machine and pushed a quarter in the slot. 

“Here, I’ll grab it for you.” 

Of course he was able to retrieve it for you in less than half the time you did to even get the claw to touch the thing. However, whatever resentment you felt towards him simplifying a game of elite skill…faded as you hugged the plush. 

You squealed. “Aww, it’s so soft and squishy! It’s adorable!” 

You looked over at Edward who was beaming with pride that he got the prize you desired. A small smirk grew on your face as you thought of a new idea. 

“But…it’s not as adorable as you.” You said sweetly as you leaned in and kissed Edward’s cheek. 

The man’s face flushed red, his smile grew wider as he chuckled. “Uh-ah, well…it was no trouble, the least I could do after all…” 

You hummed. “Perhaps…there’s one more thing you could do…”

He quirked his eyebrow. “Yes?” 

You kissed his cheek once more before lacing his neck down with smaller pecks. 

You giggled mischievously before you whispered in his ear. “It’s pretty slow in here…and I noticed that photo booth has been pretty empty these last few hours…” You winked as you slowly made your way to the empty photo booth which wouldn’t be empty for long.

Do you mind writing a scenario with BTAS Riddler. So his super frustrated with his plans being imperfect for his next encounter with Batman, and he needs to relax. He also is cursing the cold weather going on recently. Not to worry though his S/O has the solution. They get the opportunity to drag Edward away from his desk, they set him on their couch along with some comfy pillows and blankets. They put on something for them to watch, and for the rest of the day they cuddled.

(this is absolutely adorable! I would be happy to write this~)

- Edward Nigma, the smartest man in Gotham that could fool any living human on this earth, was.. In a pickle perhaps, multiple papers thrown away in the small bin he kept by his desk, many of them crumbled up and/or torn apart. 

Why was this so difficult? Could he not make a plan that would defeat Batman? He was the Riddler, the smartest man in the room! And yet.. He was stuck on a plan he had set up; Batman and Robin, stuck in a room full of! .. Well, there’s the issue. He has no set up, no riddles made for such an occasion, he felt deflated. Worn. 

“Eddie-baby?” Your voice rang out in the office he was kept up in.  You had wanted to help him out with his plans to stop The Batman, giving him coffee and food when he would need it. It felt good to be part of what he does, but coming into the office you were met with a frusterated and worn down Edward Nigma. 

“Oh, sweet man..” You cooed, setting down the warm coffee cup as you began to walk towards his chair. 

Edward swayed his hands at you, brushing off your concerned voice as he placed his hand back onto his cheek. He was too caught up to notice your sweet hands on his shoulders, gently giving them a squeeze as he sighed. You do know how to take his mind off of things.. Didn’t you? “I’ll be okay, dear. Just a block in the brilliant mind,” He said, a tiredsome voice ranged in your ears when he spoke.  You rolled your eyes at him, placing a small kiss on his forehead, “Please come out to the livingroom? I made some popcorn and your favorite game show is airing today..” You said, giving his shoulders one more squeeze as he gave a chuckle. 

“Alright, just one episode. No more, okay?” He said, waving his finger at you as you gave him such a sweet, ever so heavenly smile. 

“C’mon! you’ll miss it!” You said, soon dragging the poor man down to the livingroom.
