I read a metric ton or so of batman fanfic this year--this is part one of my faves from January-November. We’ve got harlivy, batfam/gen, batcat, and Bruce-centric stuff in this list, next one will be rogues ships, batjokes, and riddlebat. Batman and Catwoman find a tiny child trying to steal the Batmobile tires. The resulting custody battle involves breaking into each other's houses and stealing said child in the middle of the night. It works until it doesn't. Or: Batman and Catwoman's marriage of convenience for co-parenting purposes.

Mission: seducing Superman by Speechless_since_1998 - Superbat, wip. More of the Battinson seducing Superman fic. Bruce has acquired a child. No, he will not give her (Cass) back.

IRIS Log #1548 by deadchannelradio - Batfam (with touch of JayRoy), complete. A transcript from the comms the batfam use. An incident happened during patrol one night. This transcript includes all the shenanigans and subsequent paperwork that followed.

One Small Step for (Super)man by frozenpotions - Superbat, complete. A missing (sexy) scene from the fic (Love) Triangles Have Multiple Centers. A very funny and very sexy fic :)

we shall be free; we shall find peace by mediant - Clark & Kon centric, wip. An update to the prisoner Clark fic. Kon met Bruce Wayne, and Robin helped him save the day. Every time this fic updates, I have to stop everything that I'm doing to read the latest chapter.

to the other side of truth by shipyrds - Superbat, complete. Some missing scenes to the fic from the inside of the wound, from Bruce's POV.

Patchwork Pod by Ktkat9 - Superbat, wip. More of the mer Bruce fic! More questions about Connor's parentage are had. Mostly, "How??"

love overgrown by maangoes - Brutalia, complete. A small AU where Talia stays in Gotham to co-parent Damian.

Cough syrup by Stardustwrites17 - Batfam, complete. Tim falls into Gotham harbor and gets sick. It takes him a while to get used to people wanting into take care of him.

Of Sense and Sensibility by Alatariel_Galadriel - Batfam, complete. Tim gets injured while stalking following the Bats at night. Luckily, his neighbors help him out :)

Just A Little Bit... by HaleHathNoFury (My_Trex_has_fleas) - Superbat, wip. More of the creepy/cryptid Bruce and Clark fic. I absolutely LOVED in the latest chapter how hard alien Clark is trying to make his creepy bat husband happy.

The Seats of Stars by JUBE514 and SalParadiseLost - Superbat, Superfam, and Batfam, wip. More of the fantasy AU where the Supers are royalty and the Bats are centaurs.

Satisfaction by lurkinglurkerwholurks - Batcat, complete. Selina and Bruce get married. There is a scene that they share a quite moment together that I thought was absolutely lovely :)

What a good question. So, I haven’t read any spideypool fics in a while, BUT I have found some recs that I hope is what you’re looking for (basically role reversal, which is, I hope, at least close to what you’re trying to find).

What are your fave ships for Batfam/Jason?

Oh gosh.

I actually don't have any ship I'm like. Married to!! Which is wild because I have been writing for a (used to be) rarepair in jjk for like three years before coming back around to the old haunt of DC. I don't (currently lol) seek out ship fics, and never really did even like seven years ago when I was fresh into watching YJ. The big draw for the Batfam to me is their fucked up familial relationships. Could not say anything about my home life, obviously

Jason isn't a character I tend to think about when I want to read ships, but I think he's an honored disaster bisexual who can't tell if he wants to date all the lebsian-coded women in his life or be them. I will wholeheartedly admit I honestly don't know nearly enough about any of his suitors aside from what canonical interactions people have had with him in things like RHATO, which I know is not always the most accurate, well-written storyline for non-Jason characters (and, hell, sometimes even the man, the myth, the legend himself).

One of the things I want to work on in 2025 is just!! Reading other comics!! Familiarizing myself with things outside of current issues of Batman-centric stories!! Reading Young Justice from the 90s and Titans from the 70s/80s! I don't feel like I can ship much just bc... I need to know about both participants more before they start jumping each other's bones or helping each other do taxes dfdbGND

I do think on a surface "if I see it and find it endearing I'll reblog it" level, I can qualify superbat, clois, batcat, dickkory, dickroy, jaykyle, and timkon have all met those standards so far. I am neither closed off to anythig else nor is that a concrete list; if friends write or send me fic recs I'll read them, sure! I'll read pretty much anything at least once. I think the only exception is the brothers -- I don't care abt batcest on a moral high-horse level or whatever but it's not my tea lol

The JonDami is very slight but I love it even so. Damian being nervous about asking Jon out is so cute, and wanting to control it to make it go the way he wants is pretty in character.

I wish I knew more about birdflash but I know way more about dickkori so that's what I've written in my jondami arranged marriage fic. But they're cute and Dick can still be bi while dating Kori.

I love Cass and Steph, it's a shame finding fics where they're not just background is so difficult. Everyone ships them but few people want to write about them as the focal point, which isn't hypocritical or anything but it's difficult for a reader.

Kylia!!!! Thank you so much for sending me an ask, I am literally getting so excited just reading it - you have no idea what you've done to me!!! But I am also so torn because I don't know if I should respond or finish my little mini gifset first, BUT I did want to talk time and write you a little message on here.

I am always in so much awe of you always posting your word counts for the day. I think it's so amazing you can write so much and every once in a while I always go back and read some of your fanfics (I just love Dead Man Walking and Exit Strategy). I like to read them on my kindle and yes, I have the Wesley/Lilah bits bookmarked ;) I swear I am too obsessed for my own good. I loved so much of what you had to say in Dead Man Walking, too.

Anyway, I hope you have such a good evening and, as someone who owns a bookstore (which is also literally so cool) do you have any books you would recommend?

As for books to recommend, I'm happy to offer some thoughts, but I was wondering if you could narrow down a bit more what you like to read? Going off the fact that you ship Weslah and (I think?) BatCat, you have a preference for enemies to lovers type stories, it sounds like, or otherwise stories that revolve around characters who start in some degree of opposition with eachother getting together?

Going from that, and bearing in mind that I can't read every book in existence :sweat_smile: I'd say the first thing that springs to mind is the Cruel Prince, first book of a series. I haven't read it, but I have heard good things, and it has that sort of enemies to lovers vibe, as I understand it.

I don't actually gravitate that much to Enemies to Lovers in actual novels, weirdly enough, though it's not a turn-off, it's just not what I tend to seek.

But I presume you aren't only into enemies to lovers, so I could give you some better recs with some more narrowing down

(These are questions I always ask customers when they ask for recommendations, fwiw ^^)

On the Reciprocal Attraction of Heavenly Bodies - My DickBabs Regency AU inspired by "the Queen of 19th Century Science", Mary Somerville, - I just reread what I have written so far (again, an uncompleted story, I'm horrible, I know) and I'm genuinely proud of those two chapters, it 's probably the highest quality my writing has ever reached - I hope that I will be able to come back to it soon; unfortunately, this one requires a lot of time and effort due to the research necessary for this (and to get the tone as Austen-ish as possible)

The Taste of Something Stolen - Some fun first-meeting BatCat from me! This one's cheeky and a good time, I think (I really enjoy writing from Selina's perspective) and its sequel The Chase is just as fun - maybe even more so! (if only could finally finish the third installment of the series soon... Feel free to bully me into completing "A Night at the Museum" asap ;)

Rush Hour - Some meet-cute height-difference WestAllen; some good fluff and I'm so proud that I managed to add the third and final chapter after some writer's block :)

This is Not Over, But Just the Beginning - My (unfinished - can you sense the theme?) LauraMax Quarry-fic; I really like this fic but the most excruciating part is that I have a pretty darn good vignette already written for this fic - but I need to write three more chapters first 😩 (at least chapter 3 is about 80% done as of yet)
