💋ྀིྀི résumé : meeting the man of your dreams at an art auction in Paris isn’t too good to be true, right ? Well, your bodyguard thinks just the opposite.

Tumblr media
IN THE HEART OF PARIS, amidst the elegant splendor of an art auction, you found yourself captivated by the beauty of the pieces on display. Adorned in a gown of midnight blue silk, you moved gracefully through the room, your eyes alight with fascination as you admired each exquisite masterpiece.
As you lingered before a stunning portrait, a voice broke through the murmurs of the crowd.
"A breathtaking piece, is it not?" Turning, you found yourself face to face with a tall, green eyed brooding man. Dressed in a tailored suit of charcoal grey, he exuded an air of effortless charm as he regarded you with a knowing smile.
"Yes, it truly is," you replied, unable to tear your gaze away from his piercing emerald eyes. Engaging in polite small talk, you found yourself drawn into conversation with the stranger, his wit and sophistication captivating your attention.
“Marquis De Gramont. And you?” He spoke with a thick French accent, his thin lips forming a smile as he extended out his arm, opening his hand for you to shake. Flattered by him already, you shake his hand, your other one clutching onto your purse as you introduced yourself.
How charming, he was, you thought to yourself. He was not only handsome, but was a gentleman as well. You could tell by the way he just suited himself, and that sparkle in his eyes you glanced at whenever you two conversed.
One thing you didn’t know was that in fact, this man was the complete opposite of charming and well, a gentleman. Yes, he held himself with impeccable style and his composure was kept controlled, but the thoughts that came across his mind were just pure sin. He thought of how pretty you would look with your dress rolled up to your stomach as he pounded into you in the back of his limousine, maybe even perhaps hidden in an empty aisle of this very art auction.
The way his hands are would just fit around that small neck, the pearls that would fall on the ground as he pulled it off of you, and finally, your watery puppy eyed face he’d enjoy seeing begging and pleading for him to stop , or maybe even for more.
As the auction commenced, you both found yourselves bidding on a magnificent painting—a Madonna and Child by Duccio. With each raise of the paddle, the tension between you grew, the excitement of the bidding war fueling your competitive spirit.
In the end, it was you who emerged victorious, the winning bid earning you the coveted artwork. As you basked in the glow of your triumph, the Marquis offered you a gracious smile, masking the flicker of his ulterior motives in his eyes.
Later that evening, as the auction drew to a close and guests began to depart, the Marquis De Gramont approached you once more, his charming smile never faltering.
"Ah, ma chérie, it seems fate has brought us together once again," he murmured, his voice smooth as silk as he took your hand, pressing a gentle kiss to the back of it. A blush crept onto your cheeks at his bold gesture, and you chuckled softly in response.
"Perhaps our paths will cross again during your time in Paris," you replied, returning his flirtatious banter with a playful glint in your eye.
As you turned to leave, blowing a teasing kiss in his direction, you couldn't shake the feeling of his lingering gaze on your back. Climbing into the waiting limousine, you settled into the plush seat beside your ever-watchful bodyguard, John Wick. His eyebrows furrowed in concern as he glanced at you.
"Was that the Marquis?" he asked, his tone laced with suspicion.
You rolled your eyes, dismissing his worry with a wave of your hand.
"And what about him, John?" you retorted, feigning nonchalance as you closed the door behind you.
"You shouldn't be so friendly with strangers," John admonished, his concern palpable as he turned his attention back to the road.
Returning to the luxurious confines of the Ritz Paris, you found yourself lost in thought, the memory of your encounter with the Marquis lingering in your mind. Despite John's warnings, you couldn't shake the feeling that the Marquis's intentions were harmless. Little did you know, danger lurked just beyond the facade of charm and sophistication.
The next morning, as sunlight streamed through the silk curtains of your suite, you awoke to find John reading quietly on the sofa.
"I ordered some room service," he informed you, his gaze never leaving the pages of his book. You greeted him with a playful smirk, teasing him for his lack of a proper morning greeting.
While indulging in breakfast, your attention was drawn to a shiny box nestled among the pastries on the cart. With curiosity piqued, you opened it to find a stunning Van Cleef necklace in your favorite shade of sapphire blue. Your heart skipped a beat as you read the accompanying note, the words "for mon chérie" sending a chill down your spine.
Assuming it was a thoughtful gesture from John, you were taken aback when you realized the true sender. The Marquis's charm had ensnared you once again, his gift a reminder of the dangerous game he was playing. With a sense of foreboding settling over you, you couldn't help but wonder what other surprises the Marquis had in store.
End of part 1. Part 2.

seeing kenji muto, the director of trigun stampede, reading an article about the portrayal of women in media made me want to take a little bit of a closer look at the women in trigun and as i was rambling about this earlier to my partner, they told me to write it down LMAO
as most of us know, in a lot of fiction, women are mostly characterised through common tropes, leading to a lack of complexity and a one-dimensional portrayal: as the doting wife, the femme fatale, the mistress, or the virgin. Their role only amounts to an Other, an extension of the male hero. they’re either the whore or the madonna.
for female characters in anime that usually means they’re either the sexy femme fatale, big badonkers and all to be gazed at, the mother, the helpless damsel in distress, or the child (yet, still sexualised despite the fact that it is a literal child); they’re portrayed through the way they are being perceived by men and mostly sexualised beyond belief.
tristamp doesn’t do any of that.
in fact, the female characters in stampede achieve something that you don’t often see in anime: they are people. and stampede makes that clear in its very first episode by decidedly not going the route that you would usually take with the female characters they introduce:
of course, the biggest example here would be meryl, who i’d argue is the biggest driver of the plot, despite the fact that the plot of stampede is technically determined by vash - vash is an entirely passive character, he doesn’t make things happen, things happen to him and they mostly happen to him because of meryl. she’s the one who unties him, she drags them to the city, she makes them stay with him after ep3, she drives over wolfwood (rip my man), she stops for them to find rollo, she makes them follow the steamer.. you get it. she does all of this, despite being introduced as the newbie, the innocent person who would usually be the damsel in distress, who is helpless and shy and easily manipulated and who will probs be sexualised in her role as the “virgin” (sexually naive young girl who just doesn’t get all this adult sexuality yet hehe)
but she’s not – she wears a non-sexualised outfit, she only gets called out for being a newbie, or for being small height-wise by wolfwood, but not for being a “girl”, she determines the action despite the fact that she does have a mentor figure and is therefore still in a position of a student – she still isnt an extension of roberto, vash, or anyone
in fact, the other characters – Rosa, Elendira, Luida, Rem – all take up roles that would in other media be portrayed in very specific ways: Rosa could just be a pregnant mother, who is also a divorcee, Elendira could be an innocent child beholden to her caretaker, Luida could be the loving motherlike figure and rem the Madonna figure, symbolising all the virtues a woman should aspire to have. – Rosa is a leader, her pregnancy is mentioned one single time and never made a bigger part of her character, Elendira is young but powerful, making choices by herself that are not inherently based on any kind of innocence, Luida doesn’t coddle Vash or prioritise him over her own work and mission (which also serves to inspire another woman, meryl!!), and rem is also just a non-perfect person, with secrets and questionable morality
none of these women are judged on the basis of their gender, none of them experience gender-based violence, none of them are made into a joke, none of them are sexualised (or desexualised – if you compare them to the male characters, who also do not ever make jokes about sexual promiscuity or similar stuff), they have different body types (rem has a very pronounced chest, and yet stampede doesn’t ever focus on it or give her cleavage) – note also that when presented with the perfect opportunity to call a female character a “bitch”, they chose to go with a “witch” instead, in both original japanese and english dub
their femininity is not used as a weapon against them, nor are stereotypical hypermasculine elements used to define characters’ positive traits (vash not being our traditionally hypermasculine hero for example) - the only time we see a semblance of gender-based violence is, you guessed it, at the very end, when knives forcefully takes control and bodily autonomy away from vash and inseminates the plants against their will (also interesting to note that knives, as the character that does exhibit that kind of violence, is the only character to be shown incredibly buff and all muscle)
the women in tristamp are written for women, with the goal to be women that we can recognise, that represent the women that we are and know
anyways, i love all women in tristamp and have not once felt uncomfortable or said “oh look, a panty shot” and honestly i just find that pretty neat

Charlotte Hall,and Her Son
Artist: Sir Henry Raeburn (Scottish, 1756 - 1823) Scottish
Date: c. 1813
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburg, Scotland
Charlotte Hall, Lady Hume Campbell of Marchmont, and her son, Sir Hugh Hume Campbell, 7th Bart of Marchmont (1812 - 1894)
Charlotte Hall (nee Rey) married Sir William Hume Campbell of Marchmont, 6th Baronet, in 1812. On 15th December that year, Charlotte gave birth to their first and only child, Sir Hugh Hume Campbell, 7th Baronet. In this full-length seated portrait she holds her young son, who eventually bequeathed this portrait to the National Gallery of Scotland upon his death in 1894. Although the child is only partly wrapped in a loose cloth, Lady Hume-Campbell wears a shawl and a fashionable empire-style dress of fine material. The image of a mother and naked child was based on traditional representations of the Madonna and Child.

in Psychoanalytic literature, a Madonna–Whore Complex is the inability to maintain sexual arousal within a committed and loving relationship; said to develop in men who see women as either saintly Madonnas or debased Whores.
"Where such men love they have no desire, and where they desire they cannot love."
This earlier theory is based not on oedipal-based castration anxiety but on man's primary Hatred Of Women, stimulated by the child's sense that he had been made to experience intolerable frustration and/or narcissistic injury at the hands of his Mother. According to this theory, in adulthood the boy-turned-man seeks to avenge these mistreatments through Sadistic attacks on women who are stand-ins for mother.

I wanted to try and design a dress for Ludmilla that was a homage to her white dress in canon. I had a lot of fun with this one! I really have started to like drawing lace, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Detailed explanation of the dress and it's symbolism below the cut!
One of the big things that I wanted to express through the design of this dress is the juxtaposition of grief and happiness. Her sleeves were based off of the lily of the valley, often used in weddings, symbolism of happiness. The skirt of her dress, on the other hand, was designed based off of the petals of a lily. A flower commonly used in funerals, symbolic of the soul's return to innocence. I wanted this dress to really symbolize this duality of marriage and death, grief and happiness, achievement and loss. It's about new life through death, shedding the sins of mortality for the innocence of vampirism. The dress, in itself is, primarily, contradiction. The bodice of her dress focuses on extenuating the features of womanhood, yet is barren all the same. Grieving madonna, bereft of child. It is an hourglass, but it is empty, void of time, caught internally in this very same contradiction of grief and happiness, never able to permanently reside in one emotion or the other, but forever pressed into the cycle of both, forever consumed by them.

Inspired by @einsteinsugly's music post. 😊
Gen X music was left out of hers (although there's crossover with millennial music groups). My musical taste is generally late '60s through the '90s (basically, before autotune 😂).
This list, of course, is based on my interpretation of the characters. Other people can have equality valid but differing interpretations.
Eric: The Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Sonic Youth, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blues Traveler, Run DMC, LL Cool J, Aerosmith, R.E.M., Weezer, the Presidents if the United States of America, Devo.
Donna: Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, Pearl Jam, the Breeders, Alanis Morissette (Jagged Little Pill, specifically), Nirvana, Soundgarden, En Vogue, Aerosmith (early albums only; she wouldn't like the direction its music took in the late '80s and the '90s), Soundgarden, Fiona Apple, R.E.M., Blind Melon.
Hyde: Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, the Fastbacks, Sleater-Kinney, Run DMC, LL Cool J, Metallica, Sevendust, Phish, Ice-T, Sonic Youth, Butthole Surfers.
Jackie: Mariah Carey, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Boyz II Men, Alanis Morissette, Celine Dion, Pearl Jam, En Vogue, Destiny's Child, Salt-N-Pepa (specifically Very Necessary), Aerosmith (specifically Get a Grip), Kylie Minogue, Fiona Apple, Oasis, the Wallflowers.
Fez: Blind Melon, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Boys II Men, Snoop Dog, Biggie Smalls, Alice in Chains, Mother Love Bone, Silverchair, Hammer, Bare Naked Ladies, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, En Vogue, Blues Traveler, Missy Elliott, Stone Temple Pilots, Fiona Apple, the Eels, Devo.
Kelso: Nirvana, Green Day, Mother Love Bone, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dog, Biggie Smalls, Vanilla Ice, Bare Naked Ladies, Nine Inch Nails (specifically the song "Closer,") Aerosmith, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Weezer.
This list is by no means exhaustive, but I'm stopping before it gets exhausting to the reader and to me. 😅

for a highschool setting, au if you will, what upbringing do you think the 141 would have? im really curious to know what you think of personally :)c
oooooh!! to be completely honest, i didn't have any concrete ideas i could put into words before seeing this ask so this is gonna be two things: completely unresearched and based solely off of vibes
i have to emphasise i am clueless about UK demographics. i am still researching (snail pace) but i didnt want to make you wait :(
i'm big on soap growing up lower middle class catholic with siblings. to me, he's a classic middle child - he may have naturally felt a bit neglected and jealous of his younger sibling as a kid, but he gets over it once he hit hits teens.
his parents are warm and welcoming people, but there is a little awkwardness when it comes to queer topics as well as johnny's neurodivergence. they're fully supportive of his endeavors in sports and entertain his interest in engineering. although awkwardly at first, johnny was encouraged to be upfront about his emotions and opinions (which fired back terribly during his teens, but led to more open conversations later). his parents do remind him to mind his manners often though.
his relationship with his siblings can be a bit tumultuous, especially with the youngest, but ultimately he would give his life for them. there's a lot of roughousing involved, but also caring touches, hugs, pats on the back, doing eachothers hair, helping with makeup and so on. johnny grew up with lots of affectionate physical touch from both his parents and siblings.
johnny has always struggled with the catholicism bit though. his parents aren't strict about faith by any means, but there are unspoken expectations that he sometimes has trouble with. he learned early that his grandparents should see him as nothing but masculine and ready for marriage, lest all hell broke loose.
ghost gets the unfortunate working class dysfunctional household in every universe. i am so sorry my boy. he always gets the irresponsible and ungovernable dad and the tortured madonna mum.
his dad doesn't really know what to do with a kid or how to tend to its needs and doesn't have enough emotional capacity to learn. as a person, i think deep down he is really scared to care. he thinks it makes him vulnerable - his own dad (simons grandfather) was a mean patriarch, controlling, while his mum was emotionally absent. he got out and rebeled as fast as possible, but that left him with knowing nothing but fear, anger and tricks.
he "lets" the mum do the housework and take care of the kids after her shift. simon grows up seeing his mum work herself to the bone taking care of them, including his dad. unlike his brother, tommy, simon finds himself taking his mothers side and offering to help her. he grows more and more disgusted with his father as time goes on. tommy just tries to shut it out and escape it for the most part, but there are exceptions when he won't.
the mum tries her best to provide food, clean clothes and a smile for her children, but there's a backdrop of grief to it all. they used to hug and comfort eachother, but that stopped when simon hit puberty and closed himself off physically. simon sees her suffering and it angers him, but he splits that anger in half and aims it at his dad and himself.
the trauma bond simon and tommy have makes tommy irreplaceable in simons life. unlike simon, tommy has insane charisma and a desperate need to self-sabotage, and this combo more often than not brings him amongst the worst groups in the neighbourhood. simon makes his disapproval known often and tries to be a positive force in tommys life, which doesn't always work out.
at home, whenever the opportunity arises, tommy tries to take the abuse instead of simon, who will (as a teen) openly fight his dad. tommy doesn't mind sitting down and taking it in an effort to make it end faster.
i personally can't help but see price as an only child in an upper middle class family. albeit very disciplined, he's used to getting his way and tends to hold grudges when someone opposes him, and he has a talent for finding loopholes in rule systems.
his dad and mum divorced in his preteens due to his mum having cheated. although it was an amicable divorce (at least to outsiders' eyes), it did leave an impression on young john and a doubt in his mind about love and marriage.
his parents decided to keep the cause of their divorce from him, and he visited his mum often up until his highschool years, when his mum let it slip. since then, his visits have been kept to a minimum, and he's grown bitter about her as she's tried to reach out multiple times. his mum feels extremely guilty for what she's done. she truly loves her son and john knows, but he can't help himself.
his dad would be a very stern and almost dictatorial person to him if it wasn't for the way he openly shows his love for his current wife. this also leaves a bitter aftertaste in his mouth, as he has never considered his dads second wife his "mum". they are good friends though, and they live together. his dad and her take interest in johns school life and get involved with the school itself often, which john doesn't mind much, because it gets him a foot in the door with the teachers.
he was raised manners first, so it doesn't show, but he has a healthy disrespect for authority. he often prefers to corner his superiors with malicious compliance rather than rebel outright. he's not selfish however - he has a strong moral code of his own, which contradicts itself at times, but he is very stubborn about it - and just like his father, he's very loyal to people who have gained his respect, but quick to "dispose" of people who have lost it. it is difficult to gain his respect, and very easy to lose it.
gaz would come from a lower middle class catholic family as well as johnny, but unlike him, he doesn't feel as though he has many obligations towards god. after a stern talking to from his mum however, he keeps his opinions to himself.
his dad is exmilitary and kyle has witnessed the PTSD from a young age, along with his mum comforting his dad as well as she could. his dad would sometimes do self sabotaging things he'd regret, and once kyle became older, he took care of him in those moments along with his mum. the therapy helps, sometimes.
kyle has some trouble coming to terms with the love his dad still expresses for the military though, despite the aftermath. kyle knows his dad would really like it if kyle joined the military as well. his brain is swimming with stories of his dads military buddies and the "grand ol time" they had, and with the nights he spent up at the kitchen table hugging his dad back from a damn near suicide attempt.
most of the time though, his dad is a warm and friendly fellow who has many friends in the community and often likes to include his children in the activities. kyle grew up very popular among his peers.
his mum is very goal oriented and faithful, but rather emotionally stunted. she cares for her children and her husband very deeply, but she doesn't show it well in her daily life. she resorts to showing love through favours and food whenever she can. she loves to sit with them when they're having a difficult time and listen.
i think he has a younger sister, who he has a classic love hate sibling relationship with. she often annoys him about the boys in his class and introducing them to her maybe, and kyle tells her that she'd just get bullied. in reality, he's fiercely overprotective. not only towards her, but his entire family.
