1. Balance: it’s an accomplishment that uses opposing forces and influence to create equilibrium.
Ex: Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh [1989]
Directional Forces: It’s the way an artist want a viewer eyes to follow exactly
Ex: In “The Wizard of Oz”, Dorthy looks head to see where the road leads to. Google maps too for when we use navigation.
Emphasis: An area where artist put more focus on
Ex: In an artwork by Vik Muniz, “The Orchid and Three Humming Birds, the artist put more emphasis on the flower as it is the main eye catcher.
Subordination: An area that has less attention from the artist
Ex: The humming birds in the same art work was the subordination because it had less focus and takes a bit to find them
Repetition: Making a pattern in art works.
Ex: When looking at a music sheet, while the notes may not repeat, the set up for a music sheet is. Staffs are a repetition cause they keep repeating going down a song until it comes to a stop.
Rhythm: It is a orderly fashioned tempo for artists to follow.
Ex: Music always has a rhythm with its tempo.
Scale: Size comparison of one thing and another. Ex: shoe sizes
Proportion: A ratio relating to a part to a whole. Ex: Pizza
Variety: It is a mixture. Ex: A Rubik’s cube
Unity: It sticks to thing. Ex: Hersheys chocolate kisses
2. This is Bartolomeo Passarotti, Studies of a Left Arm, a Young Woman, a Madonna and Child, a Face in Profile, and Nude Figures.
3. An experience I have with how color affects me come from from favorite animation studio: Studio Ghibli. The color schemes used in the different movies the studio produce, works together to showcase that color. An example of a color showcase with aesthetic is in “The Secret World of Arrietty”. When you see the garden from Arrietty’s perspective, you can see some of the plants and insects have colors and we probably don’t see, but then again it’s anime. It’s soothing and calming when I look at the why the animation company uses the colors for these different movies, makes me feel like I’m actually part of the story itself. The style and color is also recognizable to any watcher.
4. As a performer, I love the process I go through when I learn a musical. This was from last fall semester’s production of “Into The Woods”. While I wasn’t happy with the role I got, I grew to love it and I eventually made the character, Milky White, my own character and made her more sassy and funnier. This was a funny moment during the earlier stages of production that got a laugh out of everyone.
