what's your favorite pairing in BnK? Even if you don't care for Veronica/Glen, can you tell me your thoughts on how you think the dynamic between Yuu and Minami will change?

good question! my tendency is toward multishipping all over the place, so i’m not sure i really have a favorite, but right now i’m v. into hiroki/maki. (and my wip for them has been languishing for weeks. someday…) i also super love minami/takao and happily ot3 them with various others.

the most recent chapters have gotten me shipping veronica/glen more, though it’s not my favorite pairing for veronica. in general, the latest arc got me to care a lot more about glen, whom i’ve always kind of considered just an extension of hiroki. i’m going to be… vague… since the scanlations haven’t come out yet, but the newest glen reveals have made me a lot more invested in him in his own right, and the belbania family in general. his fear that even the people who show genuine affection toward him are just trying to use him for political maneuvering (both literally in the political realm and also in the domestic world of the belbania household) was really poignant, and i feel like i have a better understanding of him as a character now, and his relationship with veronica. sorry, that got really off-track, but i have a lot of glen feelings.

because most of 15 was all about minami and hiroki/veronica and glen, and things seem to be shifting over to a zeze focus for the last few chapters, their relationship is probably going to take a backseat for a little while. hiroki’s more immediate objective is to deal with nanaura, and i think he’ll be the next person she reveals her identity to — she’s implied that already, and we’ve seen that her conversation with him ground to a halt when he revealed that he hates bart. minami and hiroki had an intense experience together, though, and i think they’ll probably be a bit closer now. hiroki has seen a side of him that not many have, and has gotten confirmation of how much veronica cared about glen. minami doesn’t know what exactly that means for hiroki, of course, though he’s starting to guess, but i think that was a bonding moment nonetheless. of course, there’s always going to be a distance between them while hiroki keeps her secrets, but recently minami has both been expanding his core group and becoming closer to them, and i think the last few chapters have shown how much he is overcoming his trust issues. hiroki is also getting there, starting with midou and momoka, so basically: general character development + the intensity of the memory recovery scene = hopefully, a stronger relationship. which will still be complicated as hell.

Lily’s father walked with a slight limp in one leg.

It was that leg that he slapped whenever he told the war story about the time an enemy cut him there, how he had taken the life of the man who nearly took his leg.

“It got infected, and the doctors thought they might have to cut it off.” Her brother gasped and asked what thenand how did they save it and Lily wanted to run in and tell her brother to be quiet and stop encouraging father to continue.

Back then she was less bothered by her father possibly losing a leg (because he still had both even if he complained about it when it rained), and more worried that the ghosts of those he killed would return and hurt him.

She never had the courage to stop him from telling the stories (and, anyway, her mother made her promise not to say anything), but she listened to all of them with a frown and bright (tear-filled) eyes, while her tiny hands were balled into fists, wrinkling the fabric of her dresses.

She listened to and hated everyone, but when this particular story surfaced from the depths of her memories it wasn’t ghosts she was worried about.

It was the description of his leg wound and the fever and pain after receiving it that came to mind when she saw Bart leaning against Glen, his left pant leg soaked in blood.

She froze for a fraction of a second before she dropped her books and ran over to them.

She interrupted Bart’s greeting and asked, “What happened?” Lily was already crouching down to check on the wound when Bart started answering.

“It was a training accident. Don’t worry, Lily, it’s not really--”

“Take it off.” She was already rolling up her sleeves (and she thinks, even if it was infected, if she used healing magic it would--but that is forbidden. Healing magic could only be used on members of the clergy. It was taboo to use it on anyone outside of the Church--but if Bart--). When Glen and Bart only gaped at her, she frowned up at them. It was fear that made her rise up to her feet and poke Bart in the chest with her finger with each word as if to punctuate it, “You heard me! Take. It. Off!”

Her demand was met with silence and Bart’s face flushed red. Glen was the first to recover and what he did was turn his head and laugh.

Then he shrugged Bart’s arm from his shoulder and pushed his sputtering brother to Lily.

“I’ll leave him in your capable hands.” He said at the same time Bart cried out, “Glen!” indignantly.

Bart managed to catch himself and stop from crashing into Lily (who was smaller because she was a priest and not trained in combat). He turned back to her and found she was still frowning at him.

“This is no laughing matter! Leg wounds can be serious! If it gets infected--”

“It got infected, and the doctors thought they might have to cut it off.

Tears welled up in her eyes and she thought, what if Bart-sama wasn’t as lucky as her father, what if--

Glen looked between her and Bart. “Bart, you made a girl cry again.” There was a not so subtle hint that his younger brother may want to fix the situation (and he was a little glad that someone worried about Bart as much as he did).

Bart didn’t even spare him a glance and put a hand on Lily’s shoulder instead. “It really is nothing, Lily. Rida already made sure I cleaned the wound and bandaged it first. I’m just going to the infirmary for them to make sure we did a good job. See?” He didn’t take off his pants, but reached down to push the hole in his pants open so she could see the make-shift bandages they used, “I’m fine.” He said it with such a gentle smile and she couldn’t help the way her heart fluttered at the sight of it, “Please don’t be worried.”

“Oh.” She said and the fear cleared from her mind. “Oh.” Because without the fog of fear clouding it she realized she’d just told Bart to take his pants off. Her face turned beet red and she stepped back once, then twice. “I-I’m sorry! Please forget I said anything!”

She ran away without picking up any of her books (and then apologized again when Bart came to return them to her later that day).

Now that I've read chapter 8+9 again, I am really convinced that Hiroki is Glen.
