Vote for Me on Ms Health and Fitness!
I never thought I’d say this, but…yes, I have entered a contest for a cover on a magazine! While I just completed my first ever professional photoshoot, this endeavor is totally different–and very much so. Even though incorporating more fashion and love for clothing design as an art has been absolutely phenomenal for me, health and wellness still hold a very warm and cozy place in my heart. I am…

"he'd be the type of guy to.." haikyuu edition ♡
notes: NOT proofread, i wrote rhis at 1:50am just some thoughts, all will be written with timeskip versions of them in mind. fem reader just cause also i chnaged title cuz it sidnt make sense LMAO
warning/s: NONE
genre: fluff
characters: hinata shoyo, kozume kenma, kageyama tobio, miya atsumu
hinata would be the type of guy to let your dates go unplanned (in a good way!!!) ypu guys get to do whatever you'd like, unrestrained. if you wanna go to a goodwill/thrift store and find cool items, he'd happily go with you. he'll also secretly get you some things that you stared at for too long. like those sparkly pink cowboy boots, a music box where instead of a ballerina spinning it's a middle finger, and a bikini that barely covers anything. then after buying those, you'd go in your car, and he'd hide them under the car seat, but the bikini's straps stick out from under the seat, and you go "what the fuck is that??" so he has no choice but to bring out the bag filled with the stuff you looked like you wanted, and surprised you early. do you want to go to an indoor volleyball court? hinata rented one just for the two of you to play. but you never got to play anything, you two are busy running around, playing hide and seek in the surprisingly large building. yes, for other people, things don't always go to plan. but for you two? you make the best out of unplanned surprises.
kenma would be the type of guy to really REALLY appreciate all of your pitiful efforts to pay him back for what he buys you. he loves, LOVES spoiling you, spending his CEO money on you is his love language. even though he acts a little nonchalant about it, he always loves seeing the smile on your face when he bought you something you've wanted for so long. but, you'd feel bad about what he's spending on you, and the effort he puts into working so hard 24/7, and going with you to the mall and buying you everything. so, you decide to repay him in different ways! like baking cookies that took you all day to bake but they taste bitter, but he still eats all of them in one sitting. you made him lots of origami flowers, he'd have it displayed in his room, without a single speck of dust landing on the paper, he knows that you feel guilty about him spending lots on you so you do these things, he keeps telling you that what he's spending on you isn't going to make a dent in his bank account, but you still wouldn't listen. (he secretly freaks out if you do things for him)
kageyama would be the type of guy to learn about anything you're into, and he'd teach you about what he's into in return. if you like a certain singer/band, and you love to quote a line from a song/an inside joke, he's going to be curious about it, and eventually, he'll start quoting it too, (at the start, he usually had trouble deciding whether or not the situation you're in would apply, but he's quoting that lyric/inside joke like he knows that band/singer better than you do.) he taught you volleyball, do you love spiking? he'd set for you, and you'd drive that ball home. do you prefer setting? he's gonna make you attend setter bootcamp, on god he's gonna turn into your coach instead of your boyfriend. you like blocking? he'd make sure he'd get his hits past your blocks, and of course tell you all sorts of positions you put your hands in if you want to change the trajectory of the ball, or completely shut it out. do you like recieving? he'll throw different types of serves your way so you'll learn how to recieve all of them perfectly. or if you'd love serving more, he'd be teaching you how to get service aces and eventually be better at serving than his team (according to him). he may be a pro volleyball player, but that doesn't mean he won't make time for you.
atsumu would be the type of guy to relax and pamper yourselves in his free time. despite his loud and rowdy personality, you and mr japanese barry b benson with a kansai accent, oftentimes go to spas, and get massages, facial treatments, all that good stuff. then he'd take you out to a hot spring after a major tournament is over, the steaming water helping to relax, and also give his skin some benefits too! after all, he's a volleyball player that has the looks of an idol, he has a face and body he has to maintain. if you guys don't want to go out, he'll look up recipes for diy mud masks to apply to eachothers faces, maybe even bringing out a stash of facemasks from his skincare mini frige and watch a movie together while waiting for the facemask to dry out. you're pretty lucky to have a skincare boyfriend, since you have never had a single skin problem ever since you started dating him. if there's an event you two will be attending, he'll prioritize the both of you looking and feeling fresh. you two would be the couple with the clearest skin in the room.

reaching out with their hand without saying anything, wanting the other one to grab it
For calllllllllllll
hope you enjoyyyyy ty so much for sending this in :-)
ummm idk how many words it is but it was supposed to be a small blurb. 😶 enjoy boyfriend callum on mota set
-
It’s a dream come true to work alongside Colleen Atwood. When you got the call with an opportunity to work alongside the legend herself on a show set in World War 2 you hadn’t hesitated once before sputtering out a “UH - YEs - yes, thank you,” knowing this could make or break the career you always dreamed of.
There’d been some nerves walking onto Masters of the Air set but turns out they were unneeded because everyone — from the bootcamp trainers to the actors — were extremely kind and welcoming. Everyone had been on set for two months before you came along, the previous costume apprentice having been let go for reasons undisclosed. It made the knot in your belly grow, to know that one wrong move or word and your entire future could be ruined.
Your family had fought hard to allow you an education and a career — something your parents never had. They worked dead-end jobs to support you and your siblings and the last thing you wanted was to disappoint them.
Some could argue, say your dedication was debatable because surely if it meant that much you wouldn’t be messing with one of the lead actors on the show but Callum Turner had snuck up on you. He’d been kind from the start but then nice turned into nice and he was always finding a way to sing your praises, make you blush, tucking your hair behind your ear for you during fittings and bringing your coffee to the costume trailer every early morning.
You’d been a goner when on a night out in London with others from the cast and crew he had admitted his intentions. There was a debate going on at the table your group occupied but your eyes were drawn to Callum as he approached holding a tray of shots with a straggler behind him. The girl was pretty, really pretty in a sparkly dress and long nails grabbing at his forearms.
Your heart had plummeted and you felt sick. Realizing your crush was more than a crush and he was only a charming actor having fun, you excused yourself certain you were gonna be sick but stopped when you heard Callum say,
“Sorry, love. ‘m trynna’ win over that pretty girl right there,” he went as far as to point you out, cheeky smile on display and as you were on opposite ends of the bar the entire table followed his finger to where you stood, red as a tomato if the heat burning your face was any indication.
There were a few hoots and laughs, some awkward grumbling, but the girl wasn’t able to react in any manner because Barry was swooping in quick with a “don’t worry, doll. I ain’t got my eye on no one but you.” And just like that, the girl’s allegiance changed and she dropped Callum’s forearm.
Beside you your co-workers and friends squealed and squeezed you in excitement as you shushed them in further embarrassment. From one moment to the next the only warning you had that Callum was approaching was an elbow to your side that made you yelp as Christie, who also worked with Colleen, slid out the seat to leave it empty for him.
He extended a shot glass as peace offering and you accepted it, unable to force yourself to meet his eye but the smile threatened to split your face.
“Didn’t mean to put you on the spot,” he said, neck red under the collar of his jacket in the crowded bar, “but I didn’t want you to think I was fuckin’ about.”
“Why would you worry about what I think?” You asked but you turned your stool in his direction, knees between both of his as he manspread.
He takes notice of your closeness, ducking further down even as his blush rushes from his neck to his cheek.
“Because I like you,” he said, matter-of-fact. “And I wanna take you out.”
The L word hadn’t been uttered yet but even though it’s only been four months since that night you’ve wanted to say it every day since. Maybe to others he would have come off as too straight forward or arrogant but all you felt was secure in his affections for you. It’s all you could ever want.
And you’re sure it’s probably the pace of you both working on the same film set but your things are scattered around his apartment, practically moved in, and on night shoots you sleep in his trailer to wait for him. It was moving fast but you had no qualms about it and neither did Callum and that was all that mattered.
However you were careful of making sure to keep your relationship away from the cameras and off the set. The last thing you wanted was for Colleen Atwood to think you weren’t ambitious, that you were only after a Hollywood actor. You’d felt guilty when you brought the topic up to Callum, scared to make him feel like you were ashamed of him or trying to hide your relationship, but he had been understanding from the get-go.
“Me and you - all that matters.” He had said, cupping your cheeks as he bent to kiss your pouted lips.
Today was a heavy day on set and even though it had been on the schedule for months and you has tried to emotionally prepare for what would be shot — all prior planning went out the window because everyone on set was as downcast as the next person. It was the day they would shoot the train scene, where the Jewish would reach for the shoulders as they were taken to their hell. It felt wrong to laugh or smile. Someone had lived this and that was on the back of everyone’s mind first and foremost.
Callum arrived on set before you because he had to sit to get his blood and wounds on him again. From where you stood next to Christie you could see him talking to a fellow actor, probably sharing notes, blood caked on his face and mud under his nails. It hadn’t been easy to see him look beaten and near death but no matter what, every time he turned to look at you it took your breath away how beautiful he was. His wonderful ears, and his cheeky smile, and his bright eyes — this was the man you love.
Christie handed you a page with what they expected the actors to appear as on screen so you could keep an eye out. “It’s been heavy,” she warned, “your boy’s had to do the scene three times and … I think it’s getting to him.” She admitted, cupping your elbow with a squeeze.
You turned back to Callum, the slouch in his shoulders and his eyes downcast, nothing like the confident, loud guy you were accustomed to. And maybe it’s because he was in character but you knew him and you knew it was more than that, he was someone who emphasized and felt things deeply.
“Alright,” your supervisor instructed turning to the costume team, “in five we do another take. Let’s make sure all is as should be.”
Without waiting you made a beeline for Callum. He now sat on the platform of the train, legs dangling as he punched at his thighs.
Your touch was automatic but you were still aware Colleen was somewhere watching, your hand coming to play with the hair at the back of his neck but playing it off as fixing his collar. “Hi baby,” you whisper in an attempt to keep your tone soft.
He wipes at his nose, sniffling, and pressing a kiss to the inside of your wrist when he turns his head. Callum clears his throats, obviously trying to get rid of the emotion that must be lodged there.
“Fuckin’ horrible,” he finally croaks, eyes turning to you finally but none of the usual brightness there. And he opens his mouth to say more but his eyes are teary and so you gently shush him, grabbing at the lapels of his jacket. Even if someone looked over no one would blame you for comforting him today with the heaviness weighing on set. “Hi pretty girl,” he says instead, running a muddy hand over your cheekbone.
You grimace to make him laugh and it works as he removed his touch.
“You could’ve texted me, ya know.” You chide him, understanding he was at work but wanting him to understand his personal wellbeing always came first. “I would have brought you Golo.”
He chuckles, “He’d make me too happy. Then I wouldn’t be in the right mindset.”
You have to agree so you nod your head, cupping a cheek to tilt his head and inspect the gooey make-up around his eye. It looks gruesome and horrible and real and it’s ridiculous but seeing him hurt emotionally while he has these wounds pressed on externally makes your eyes tear.
Callum must sense it because his eyes go from sad to concerned in an instant and his palm is cupping your cheek again but before he can speak there’s a call of his name coming from where the director stands. Callum turns to see and jumps onto the dirt, wiping his pants.
“You doing okay, Callum?” The director steps in close to ask, hand clapping him on the shoulder. “You let us know when you’re ready to go again. Talk to the guys -” the guys are the extras on set and you make note of how much harder it has to be for Callum to do this without Austin by his side. “ - they look up to you. We get on the same page, we do this right so we can tell their story …” the director continues talking but you tune him out, aware you could walk away but not wanting to without checking on Callum one more time.
There’s a movement from down below that catches your eye, Callum’s hand searching behind his back and right away you know he’s asking for your support, for your touch. It’s his love language, there’s always a hand on your lower back or arm thrown over your shoulder — kisses pressed to your face multiple times to make you giggle.
And there’s a second or two where you look around, trying to find who’s on set and who can go report this or how it can get back to Colleen but you catch yourself and hate yourself for it. Callum never hesitated to help you feel comfortable, even before anything happened he was welcoming you on set with open arms and instructing the guys to behave around you. When you met his mom he hadn’t shied away from hugging you or kissing you and when he’d met your parents over Zoom he’d been ecstatic throwing an arm around your shoulders and declaring he was watching out for you.
It’s heartbreaking to see his hand begin to falter in it’s search, the wiggling stopping and as he goes to pull it towards himself — as if he remembered suddenly how scared you were to go public and of Colleen Atwood finding out — you quickly reach out to grab his. It’s awkward at first, in your haste you accidentally bend one of his fingers and he slightly tenses letting you know it had to have hurt but then he’s opening his hands again and you slot your fingers between his; interlocked. He squeezes in appreciation and deciding to go all in you squeeze back, leaning forward to rest your forehead against his back, leather jacket damp against you.
But he stands up straight, steeling himself to prepare for the next take and you decide then that he’s been right all along: you and him — all that matters.

i love everything about the wife-gary saga! if you’re looking for fresh brain worms… maybe something from the euros this summer? long distance pining (but refusing to admit it, they don’t even like each other really) while gary’s posted in berlin for a month? the STF team finding gary increasingly insufferable? one late night phone call where gary says he can’t sleep (it’s got nothing to do with the absence of his most behated scouser snoring in his ear!!) and next morning someone tweets a blurry pic of jamie at the heathrow boarding gates?? use any or none of this - i love your fic so im sure i’ll be obsessed with anything you write :)))
GODDD I love the idea of gary pining and everyone getting annoyed by it...... also of jamie having the time of his life in ibiza and being like oh my wife? no he's fine xoxo back to partying now
---
“D’youknowsomethin’, Roy, I dunno how much longer I can keep doin’ this for.”
They’re in a bar with some of the other ITV crowd, all squashed around a table in the corner and having to raise their voices to be heard over the music. Roy looks at him with one unimpressed eyebrow raised.
“You’ve only had one gin and tonic, Nev, calm down. It’s still early even for you.”
“No, not –” Gary waves his arm around the room, “not this, I mean like – the tournaments. Spendin’ a whole month in another city, like. Aren’t you exhausted?”
Roy shrugs. “It’s something to do, innit? Gets you out of the house.”
“I just –” Gary cuts himself off, fidgets with the ring on his finger. “No, it’s stupid. Never mind.”
*
Jamie feels a buzzing in his back pocket and pulls out his phone, wincing in guilt when he sees two missed calls already on the screen. He nudges his brother, nods towards the house to let him know he’s going inside to take a call away from the noise of the party, and he presses answer as he walks inside.
“What’s he done now?”
“Your wife,” Roy bites out on the other end of the line, “has got himself pissed on half a glass of wine and some watered down cider.”
In Roy speak, this means that Gary’s probably shared a bottle of wine with someone and then moved on to his little gin and slimline tonics. Which means that yeah, he’s probably a bit pissed.
To contrast, Jamie’s onto his second week in Ibiza and isn’t quite sure if he’s spent any of it sober. But he’s at least sober enough to feel bad that Roy’s stuck dealing with a drunk Gary on his own. He gets so maudlin.
“Put him in a cab and send him back to the ‘otel,” Jamie suggests. “Let him sleep it off.”
“He’d need to sleep for a week to shake this one off.” Roy sighs exasperatedly. “He asked me for a hug earlier. A hug. Me.”
“Let me guess, you told him where to go?”
“Well of course I did, but my point still stands. He’s all off this tournament. Don’t think he’s been sleeping much, he keeps dragging me out to Barry’s Bootcamp at six o’clock in the bloody morning.”
Jamie glances at his watch. It’s not that late, only just gone eleven - trust Gary to get bladdered before he’s even made it to midnight.
“Get ‘im some chips – do they do chips in Germany? – and make him put one of his little electrolyte tabs in some water. And don’t let him moan too much, you know what he’s like.”
“Yeah, yeah. Thanks, Jamie. You go enjoy Ibiza, I’ll do all the heavy lifting for you.”
As soon as the call ends, Jamie’s opened up a search for flights to Berlin.
*
By the time Jamie’s cab arrives at the ITV hotel in Berlin it’s still disgustingly early in the morning but it’s almost a reasonable hour – or at least close enough that Gary’s awake and alert enough to answer when the concierge rings him from the front desk to ask if he should let the big bad Scouser in the lobby up to his room.
The lift pings and Gary shuffles out of it wearing crumpled clothes, squinting through his glasses across the lobby.
When his eyes fix on Jamie, though, his whole face splits into a grin. He doesn’t hug him, doesn’t even shake his hand, just keeps on smiling while he shakes his head incredulously.
“You old softie,” he says once he gets close. He wraps one hand around Jamie’s wrist and tugs him gently towards the lift. “You absolute – who put you up to this? Roy?”
“Can a man not just miss ‘is missus?” Jamie asks, then chuckles at his own wordplay. “Heard you were out on the town last night, couldn’t risk you getting pissed enough to start throwing yourself at every man you see over six foot tall, eh?”
Gary swats at his chest. “Think that’s you you’re thinkin’ of, lad.”
They step into the lift and the doors ping shut behind them. Gary immediately takes this privacy as an opportunity to fit himself into Jamie’s arms, his face pressed up against his neck.
“God, Carra, I’ve missed you.” He takes a long inhale through his nose. “You smell like plane, though.”
“I can shower once we’re back in your room.”
“Absolutely fuckin’ not. It’s straight to bed w’you, James.”
Jamie raises an eyebrow. “Oh?”
“I’ve not had a decent night’s sleep in weeks, and my favourite pillow’s just got here by overnight delivery.”
“I always knew you only wanted me for my body.”
#thank uuuuu for the prompt!!#god i love the wife gary saga. they r so disgustingly in love <3#carraville#drabbles

I just wanted to imagine a world where Trent writes a completely under-the-radar article for Colin’s hometown newspaper to address the rumours of him being gay without making a big deal about it.
Full article text under the cut:
At 28 years of age, Colin Hughes is something of a late bloomer. After a mediocre start to his career saw Cardiff City relegated to the Championship, the Barry native was transferred to the struggling AFC Richmond, a harsh environment for any young footballer trying to make his mark on the world. But after years of flying under the radar, Hughes is finally making himself known at both national and international levels, and one can’t help but marvel at how far this young man has come.
Hughes’s love for the sport was nurtured from a young age, here in Barry, and despite his recent success it is clear he hasn’t forgotten his roots. The modest yet respectable history of Welsh football is something that Hughes could lecture on at the drop of a hat (and indeed needs to be stopped from lecturing once he gets started), and even his favoured position as a left winger was chosen in homage to Welsh footballing legend Gary Speed, a man who still acts as an inspiration for Hughes today.
“He did wonders for our national team. He was the one who made us all believe that Wales could hold our own against the rest of the world. I don’t think we’d be where we are today without all the work he put in: now that I can, I’m doing my best to continue what he started,” Hughes says.
Hughes’s ‘best’, in this instance, has been to fund a new development program throughout Wales, offering summer bootcamp scholarships to children from underprivileged areas. One can’t help but feel that were Speed still with us, he’d be proud of what Hughes is trying to achieve, although perhaps a little bemused at lending his name to an indeterminable breed of dog that Hughes affectionally refers to as ‘Gazza’.
“Me and my boyfriend got him from the shelter last week,” he says, showing a picture of a large but scrawny dog being embraced on both sides by Hughes and his boyfriend, one Michael Chen. “We got him to celebrate Richmond’s second place in the Prem.”
Buying a dog is perhaps an unusually tame way to celebrate for most footballers, but unusual is rather how AFC Richmond operates these days. Whilst most teams would be disappointed with losing out on winning the Premier League by the slimmest of margins, many often claiming that third place is preferable to second, both Hughes and AFC Richmond are treating their status as runners up with dignity, and no small amount of delight.
“I’m not being funny, right, but if you’d told me a year ago that Richmond’d avoid relegation, let alone make it to second place, I’d’ve said you were full of ****,” Hughes says, then apologises after a gentle reminder not to swear. “It’s gutting to miss out on winning the whole thing, of course, but we’re proud of what we’ve done. And besides, it gives us something to aim for next year.”
Hughes succinctly brings us to the elephant in the room: the recent departure of Coach Ted Lasso. Whilst Lasso himself has always maintained the humble adage that Richmond’s recent success wasn’t wholly his doing, the fact remains that the club have never before performed so well over a single season, nor so swiftly reversed their declining fortunes. One can’t help but wonder what a future without Lasso looks like. Hughes, for his part, remains optimistic.
“Coach Lasso made a real difference. Not just in how we play as a team but in how we think, how we work. That kind of change is here to stay,” he says, before adding, “plus we’ve got facetime and all that **** so it’s not like he’s properly gone. I mean I could call him right now if you want?”
But what of Hughes’ future as an international player? After making his debut for Wales a little under a year ago, and with a surprise win against Uruguay under his belt from April, surely his prospects on the world stage are looking encouraging? With Gareth Bale announcing his retirement, is there a possibility for Hughes to follow in the steps of childhood hero Speed and take over as captain of his national team?
“****,” Hughes says, once again forgetting the request to forgo swearing. “I hadn’t thought that far ahead. I mean that’s the dream, isn’t it, but I know that any of the lads on the team’d do a great job in the role. Any one of us would bring something different to the job, so who’s to say?”
It’s modest, considered statements like these that give weight to Hughes’s earlier words of change: Lasso may have moved on, but his impact on the team is here to stay. I, for one, cannot wait to see where Colin Hughes takes it from here.

“There are some people that are just better. Like Harry Styles. I once witnessed this mother fucker run ten miles in the rain to a Barry’s boot camp in the UK. I was leaving, it was my first. I was like ‘look at him go!’. I was leaving Barry’s boot camp and they were like ‘yeah, he ran ten miles here, and then he did a Barry’s boot camp, and then probably ran back!’”
-Meghan Trainor on Harry running ten miles before doing the legendary high-intensity running and weights workout of Barry’s Bootcamp. (8 March 2023)

The Sussexes are frazzled, fraught and lacking romance – like any couple with young kids
Five years after their wedding, the omens are bad as Harry and Meghan seem to be heading in different directions.
It is hard to believe that five years ago today, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle rode through the streets of Windsor in an Ascot Landau carriage, cheered by adoring crowds on their wedding. At the time, household staff weren’t entirely confident the relationship would go the distance – “no one could see it lasting longer than three years”, according to one insider. Yet as the couple celebrate their “wood” anniversary, Harry and Meghan have proved their doubters wrong.
While their relationships with their own families might not be what they once were, the marriage appears to be going strong, despite the couple’s outwardly diverging priorities.
The Duchess once described them as moving together “like salt and pepper” but they seem to be heading in opposite directions – Meghan looking forward while Harry dwells on the past. The extraordinary events of this week – with the couple claiming they had been “involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi” in New York – seem to expose a chasm between her desire for fame, and Harry’s quest for privacy.
The couple say that after the event, they were subjected to a two-hour “relentless pursuit” by a “gang” of at least six paparazzi. New York City authorities have stated that although photographers made their journey “challenging”, “there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries, or arrests”.
In pictures of the couple leaving the event, Harry’s discomfort was etched on his face as he used his phone to film the action from the back seat.
However, questions have been raised over how such a campaign sits with the Duchess’s plans to build her “global enterprise”. Meghan signed with leading global talent agency WME in April, amid talk of more “content creation”, a Dior clothing deal and the revamp of her defunct lifestyle blog The Tig.
Given this potential conflict, it is little wonder, then, that the couple have cut quite separate figures lately – with Harry travelling alone to the Coronation on May 6, leaving Meghan in Montecito with their two children, Archie, who turned four that day, and Lilibet who turns two next month.
The last time the Sussexes were photographed together in public was at a basketball game in Los Angeles last month, when they missed the opportunity to smooch on the “kiss cam” that pans in on couples in the stands. Some took the normally tactile couple’s reluctance as a sign all may not be well between them after Meghan’s absence from Harry’s promotional book tour fuelled split rumours.
Such is their independence from each other that the owner of a leading hotel chain in Montecito recently told The Daily Telegraph they have a room set aside for Harry where he occasionally stays on his own.
The Duke has also been known to stay at the uber-exclusive San Vincente Bungalows when visiting LA, which is a two-hour drive from the couple’s £11 million mansion.
“That seems to be his escape place,” said a source of the super secretive and selective members’ club in West Hollywood, which – unlike the Soho House chain also frequented by the Sussexes – bans journalists from joining. A refuge from the rigours of parenting two children under four, Harry has apparently stayed there after attending Barry’s Bootcamp, a high-octane cardio fitness class, at the nearby Beverly Center. One friend described the couple as “like any parents of such young kids: frazzled.”
They added: “They are really happy together and live this idyllic life in Montecito, which is essentially a giant gated community of multimillionaires.
“But at the end of the day, they’ve been through a lot and I think they’ve both felt quite ground down by it all.
“They’re like any married couple, five years in.”
As a Californian, born and bred, Meghan appears more settled than Harry who, by his own admission, still feels torn by his British ties. As he wrote in his book: “I love my mother country and I love my family and I always will.” Although he has repeatedly spoken of embracing the Santa Barbara lifestyle, it is no secret that the Duke – cut off from his family and many of his friends – is heavily reliant on his wife’s social circle.
When they first started dating, Harry was Meghan’s protector, guiding her through a royal life that was alien to her, but now the roles have been reversed and it is the Duke who appears to be struggling to find his way.
That may explain why he is still partially on British time – apparently staying up late into the night, gaming.
Yet with many of his old set still feeling aggrieved at having essentially been “ghosted” after he married Meghan, patience appears to be wearing thin even among his most stalwart supporters.
As one insider explained: “Nobody really speaks to him any more and even the people who have remained by his side have lately begun to fall away because he is so consistently negative. He’s often complaining and rarely asks after others. People had stuck with him because they blamed Meghan for isolating him and cutting him off from his friends and family. But he hasn’t done anything to help himself. Now they just see him as completely lost.”
Harry himself referred to the fact that William regards him as “deluded” – but that sentiment also seems to be shared by those in what he once referred to as his “circle of trust”. The word “narcissistic” also creeps into a lot of conversations about the couple.
According to one former military colleague: “No one in the forces has got any time for him at all, which is such a shame because he was hugely popular. You can blame Meghan, but he’s brought a lot of it on himself.”
While fully supportive of Spare, the media-savvy Duchess let it be known she raised gentle concerns about whether it was the right move. As a source said at the time: “Is this the way she would have approached things? Possibly not. But she will always back him and would never have got involved in promoting such a personal project. This was about his own life, his own journey and his own perspective.”
But with speculation about plans for her own memoir, the Duchess will want to avoid any more negative publicity diminishing the Archewell brand after the couple’s approval ratings have fallen to near Duke of York levels.
If her relaunch doesn’t go to plan, however, a blame game is likely to follow – and as someone who once worked for the couple noted: “When you’re that angry with the world, it leaves little time for romance.”
