I was reminded that I should get my ass up and work on some more bardic songs. For once, so I can properly continue working on Thick as Thieves, but also because my bard Tav very much needs his own songs, too. And for that matter my current campaign's tabaxi bard could use some songs, too.

It is getting easier now that I have a bit more understanding of the DnD lore.

I still gotta say: Drinking songs and Sea Shanties are so much easier to write due to their quick tempo. Also, it turns out, it is fairly easy to just write about the amazing drinks you can have in a Faerûnian tavern.

My favorite scenes from The Odyssey (books 18 to 21)

Odysseus fighting a random beggar being its own book was not something I expected to enjoy this much when reading The Odyssey, but here we are.

Started a new book series, and has been a journey...an Odyssey, if you will.

#poorly drawn odyssey #the odyssey #Athena #telemachus #penelope #odysseus #calypso #I also drew Phemius the bard and Antinous the leader of the suitors but I'll hold onto those for a while longer.#The Odyssey has been on my reading list for ages and I finally decided to just dive into the Robert Fagles translation.#*nobody* ever talks about how damn funny the Odyssey is. Oh my god. I have been howling.#The poor bard doomed to keep playing for this unending feast. The most unwilling court jester.#Penelope being introduced by her crying about how much she 'hates this song'.#And Telemachus is the goodest lad. The OG protag to set about on his heroes journey.#He is kind! He is soft! He yearns for adventure and finding out the truth! He wants to get back at his bullies!#He even gets a companion named Mentor. THE original mentor! Who is *totally* not a god by the way. Just a guy.#Not to mention how much Odysseus gets hyped up only for his first appearance to be him sobbing non-stop.#Honestly I was mostly motivated by the need to do research for a personal project but I've been having the best time.#I sincerely doubt my current audience has any overlap with classic Greek literature but expect a few more PD-Odyssey posts.#(Yes - I am familiar with Epic the Musical; this is not fanart of that adaptation).

smth smth arlathan au! solavellan + my own design for solas

where miha was a spirit of truth who was blinded by elgar'nan, then turned into a spirit of song (but mythal had no use for song & music during the war and so she was sent away abandoned, later solas would find a way to use her abilities for the rebellion)

she composed satire plays and tragicomedies about the elvhen and evanuris, all lost to time except the one about the dread wolf's betrayals.

the more people remember and sing her songs, the longer her spirit will endure - and everyone remembers that one song about fen'harel that she wrote but they forgot it was a satire rip ("what?? fen'harel eats your children???")

anyway the god of lies (allegedly) and a spirit of truth (previously) loved each other very much (rumoured)

I love you video games that have ambient sounds of people casually humming/singing while working or idling or drinking, without any accompaniment of music

#that 'light fades away at the end of the day' tune from enderal is my most favourite ambient sound in any video game ever #(and my second favourite is Jaspar hummning the Aged Man bard song)#it just... music as part of everyday life - outside of taverns and outside of major plot points - makes the setting so much more grounded #(Tolkien taught me that he told me so personally)
