Reading so many Regency romances is starting to feel weird because the same early nineteenth century celebrities keep popping up in the background as extras. How many times am I going to hear about Lady Jersey being sophisticated, or Beau Brummel being the sartorial aspiration for this or that romantic hero, and -- oh look -- it's HRH Prinny again, I hear he's large and he's here to flirt.

Was at a used bookstore the other day and look at what I found!

I don't think I've ever seen a Barbara Cartland book in person before, although I've heard about them. Her books are easily recognizable by the lovely cover art (Francis Marshall was the artist for most of them). I absolutely adore the cover art; I want to collect these books just for that.

She was a highly prolific and popular writer of romance novels. According to Wikipedia, she wrote over 700 books in her lifetime, and won the Guinness World Record for writing the most number of books in a year (23 books). How did she manage to write so many, you may ask?
