The "Street suit", worn onstage by accident (1975)
TWO-TONED STREET SUIT | Other names: Penguin suit Used only once onstage, on August 19, 1975, at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, during the Midnight concert. Elvis wore the suit with a Black Macrame belt. Info from website elvisconcerts.com (Jumpsuit index)
According to the rumors, Elvis was late for the show that night and he had no time to change his clothes, so he just walked on-stage wearing what he had on at the moment: the Two-toned Street suit.
Elvis during concert in August 19, 1975, at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This sounds a little off to me, to be truthful. If EP in fact wasn't intending wearing the Street suit onstage then I wonder the reasons why: Did he get distracted and forgot to change his outfit in time? Maybe he was visiting with fans backstage or too busy chatting with guests/friends/family in his suite while resting before another concert could begun? (He performed the dinner concert the same night at 8:15pm and wore the Totem Pole suit for it); perhaps something happened with the other outfit he planned to change into for the second concert, considering he didn't want to wear the Totem Pole suit for both concerts the same night; or Elvis simply felt like wearing the Two-toned Street suit because he felt more comfortable in it at the moment. I guess we'll never know what actually happened.
UPDATE: I learned reason why he probably wasn't properly dressed for the August 19th concert. Thanks @deke-rivers-1957 for commenting on this post and sharing your knowledge on what was going on in Elvis' life in those days. I see I was only trying to be optimistic while guessing why Elvis wasn't properly dressed onstage in August 19, 1975 because it went through my mind it could be due to illness someway but I chose not to mention this possibility before. Thanks to you, we have an answer to share here. There you go:
Friday 15, in August 1975 "Late in the evening Elvis leaves Memphis for Las Vegas, very likely in the Jet Commander, but the place is forced to make an unscheduled stop in Dallas when Elvis has difficulty breathing. After resting for several hours in a motel, he recovers sufficiently to continue on the trip." Excerpt from book "Elvis Day by Day: The Definitive Record of His Life and Music" (1999) by Peter Guralnick and Ernst Jorgensen.
Using my words to finish the explanations, Elvis was visibly not okay since, at least, August 15, but all signals were ignored by him and the ones around him. On August 18, 1975 Elvis opened another engagement in Vegas, at the Las Vegas Hilton, but he was visibly still not in good shape. In the book, Ernst Jorgensen says "Elvis had to sit down for much of the performance". The 19th was the second concert night at the venue. Apparently, other than the "wrong suit" situation during the second concert that night, the shows ran smoothly — During the first concert that night, Elvis wore one of his proper performance outfits, the Totem Pole suit, as mentioned before. A possible reason why for the second concert he was dressed casually can be explained from what happened in August 20. On August 20, Elvis told his manager, Col. Parker, he wasn't feeling good enough to perform. Colonel Parker told him to perform that day again because "no prior notice had been given". After the concerts in August 20, the remainder of the shows at the Las Vegas Hilton for that season (it was suppose to be a two-week engagement) were "canceled due to illness". On the 21st, Elvis was back in Memphis and he was hospitalized at the Baptist Memorial Hospital.
The way I see it now with the accurate information, Elvis was trying to say he wasn't feeling okay and this suit was likely his way of showing he was ready to go home. It's only mentioned he was vocal about his illness on August 20th, but knowing this "Street suit" concert was the second that night on the 19th, Elvis was probably not intending to even perform a second concert when he wore his off-stage wardrobe during a performance that night. Maybe backstage he was trying to convince Parker to let him cancel the second show for the night and he didn't succeed in his attempt but it was too late to change his outfit for the show, or, perhaps, knowing a little of Elvis' personality, he was probably not dressed to perform just to piss Colonel Parker off, a way of showing his will needed to be respected and taken seriously.
I confess I really was trying not to imagine EP was sick during that concert, but that's the backstage story behind the "Two-toned Street Suit" worn onstage in 1975.
LET'S SEE THE KING IN ACTION WEARING THAT SUIT:
youtube
Elvis had several different colored "two-toned street suits". He wore them during 1975 and 1976. This was the only one which was worn on-stage. Excerpt from website elvisconcerts.com (Jumpsuit index)

VERSIONS OF THE TWO-TONED SUIT
About that, it's a part of Elvis's personality, as his friends told over the years, "when Elvis likes something, he goes all the way". From general off-work activities (going to the movies, amusement parks, riding motorcycles, collecting guns/police badges, and so on), to food and also to his wardrobe choices, Elvis overdid things when he liked something.
The King owned clothes in the same model in different colors, usually his favorites (blue, red, black and white). Below we have an example of this, before going to the Street Suit.
Two-toned Street Suit
EP had at least four of them: two are black and white with the variation between them being the reverse color scheme, another one goes in two shades of blue and a fourth suit goes in brown and beige tones.
The one he wore onstage is in the second picture below, this time worn casually, as usual. On the photos in both sides of that one, Elvis is wearing the reverse color scheme suit - same model but white with black side stripes and black lapel. On the latter pictures Elvis is wearing Two-toned Street suits in blue and another one in brown/beige tones.
Sometimes Elvis would wear the Two-tone suit jacket as a coat, over his actual stage wear:
The King wearing the Chicken Bone suit with the jacket of his blue shades "Two-Toned Street Suit" over his shoulders.
Elvis performing at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 19, 1975 (Midnight concert).
Note: Those are only the pictures I could find of this one suit model Elvis had in different colors but it wouldn't surprise me if EP had more of them, which I imagine it would go in red-white or red-black color schemes or even all white/all black versions, but I haven't found pictures that can endorse this theory, so far.

This video was taken yesterday at the Baptist hospital..
These were the last memories of those little kids…
And the guy playing with them (this hero) is now a martyr.
In the midst of pain and suffering his last masterpiece was drawing a smile on their faces!

Yesterday, the Israeli military bombed one of UNRWA’s aid distribution centers, killing at least six people. These attacks are deliberate and they are war crimes.
In the two weeks since the Israeli military committed the atrocity known as the Bread Massacre, where Israeli soldiers murdered over 100 Palestinians waiting for food, they’ve killed over 400 Palestinians desperately waiting for the scant amounts of aid the Israeli government permits into Gaza.
The same day the Israeli military bombed the UNRWA aid shelter, airdropped food from the US landed on the solar panels of Gaza’s Baptist Hospital, damaging them and the hospital’s vital source of electricity.
As Ramadan begins, nearly 1.5 million Palestinians displaced to Rafah are beginning their observance of this holy month on the brink of famine. The Israeli government is already deliberately starving all Palestinians in Gaza by allowing in little to no food or aid. At least 27 people have been reported killed by malnutrition in northern Gaza—most of them were children or disabled Palestinians.
While the Biden admin is attempting to hide their complicity in genocide by airdropping meager amounts of food all too often already spoiled, they continue to send weapons shipments to the Israeli military that are being used to kill over 31,000 Palestinians. The amount of food airdropped—around 38,000 meals—is nowhere close to what’s needed to feed a population of 2.3 million.
With full support from the United States, the Israeli military has murdered more children in Gaza since October 7th than the total number of children killed in four years of wars around the world combined.
This is unconscionable. These are not the actions of people who value life. But we do.
We stand resolute in our belief that every life is precious. We will never forget the countless precious lives stolen, and we will carry their memories with us as we continue to struggle for a free Palestine, and a world where everyone lives with dignity and freedom.

Fairytale, a Pointer Sisters cover, was recorded by Elvis in early 1975 and featured as an album track on Today, released in May of that year. It would remain in the live set right up to the end. This joyous version was captured in a good quality audience recording during Elvis' dinner show in Las Vegas on August 20th, 1975. He's in such great form that it's actually quite hard to believe that following the second show that night, the engagement would be abruptly cancelled (just three nights in) and Elvis would be flown back to Memphis and admitted to hospital.
United Press international (UPI) issued a syndicated report on the sudden cancellation;
“…He just got very tired and fatigued and we thought it would be best if he cut his show here short this time rather than run into complications," said Dr. Elias Ghanem, the singer's Las Vegas physician. "We can't find much wrong with him. One of the liver enzymes is elevated and what he needs is rest…”
Dr Ghanem (1939-2001) enjoyed an enviable lifestyle from his business activities and from billing a number of wealthy and undoubtedly generous Las Vegas entertainers for treatment of, amongst other things, ‘Vegas Throat’ – raspy soreness caused by a combination of the dry desert air and the air-conditioning (and passive smoking) within the hotels and casinos. He was also a proponent of the sleep diet; a regimen of weight loss that appeared to involve the patient being sedated for much of the time and consuming liquid nutrition during rare moments of consciousness. Elvis himself had availed himself of this regime on at least one occasion.
The Irish Times wrote an obituary for Dr Ghanem upon his death from renal cancer in 2001.
“…He was Elvis Presley's personal physician, as well as the doctor for Elvis's posthumous son-in-law Michael Jackson. Although his patient list also included Liberace, Bill Cosby, Ann-Margret, and Virginia Kelley (the mother of former President Bill Clinton), it was Ghanem's relationship with The King which first brought him under the spotlight of unwanted notoriety. When ABC's television programme '20-20' reported that he had supplied the drugs which essentially killed Presley, Dr Ghanem threatened to sue - but he never did…”
The article also noted that Ghanem had been the subject of an FBI investigation over billing, but never charged, and that Colonel Parker had a financial interest in Ghanem's clinic situated conveniently adjacent to the Las Vegas Hilton.
"...Ghanem expanded his practice to include a chain of clinics around Las Vegas, treating literally thousands of patients. He proposed innovative umbrella health-insurance schemes long before they came into vogue, and signed contracts with the Hotel and Casino Workers' Union, by far the largest group of workers in Nevada. The arrangement was obviously a profitable one for Ghanem, but union leader John Wilhelm, recalled that during a protracted six-year strike at the Frontier Casino, Ghanem treated every worker free of charge and delivered over a hundred babies for the striking workers..."
Following the cancellation, Elvis was flown back to Memphis where he was admitted to a private suite on the top floor of Baptist Memorial Hospital. His next professional engagement was back in Las Vegas in December making up for the cancelled shows.

Save lives from the front lines, a call for life ..
I never thought I would create the GoFundME page, but time is changing and I am communicating with the global community with a heavy heart to get your generous support in times of enormous crises ..
My name is Hadeel Adnan Abu Nasser, I am 23 years old. I live in the northern Gaza Strip. I had a stable life and a happy family .
I recently graduated from my university from the Faculty of Medical Laboratory Sciences .
After graduating from my university. I was supposed to work in a hospital in the Gaza Strip, but unfortunately this war came and destroyed our dreams and reality.
The war came suddenly and turned my life upside down, and on 10/12/2023 in the morning I lost my dearest person on my heart .
I lost my father because of the indiscriminate shells that were thrown at civilian homes .
My father, who was a support for me and my family, who always misses us, and we lived with his tenderness and affection throughout his life, who was naughty in his life to complete our education to be successful and influential people.
The occupation killed him in cold blood, the source of our strength went in this harsh life, and everything went with him.
My father was martyred after he was injured in the chest and was taken to the Baptist Hospital in Gaza, but he was not able to help him with the lack of capabilities in the hospitals.
My dad was martyred and we didn't have a moment to say goodbye to him finally because of the danger that was surrounds all over Gaza.
We had a very difficult days after losing my father, and we had been starving for several months, and we had to eat animal fodder and earth grass ! to relieve our hunger ..
On 4/3/2024 I lost my brother with special needs, my brother, who lived an angel who had never hurt anyone, died of malnutrition, as he needed healthy food, and we were not able to provide it for him because of his high prices if available until he left us .
My family has become without breadwinner , my family, which consisted of 13 people, became 11 people. After the death of my father and brother,
My mother and stepmother are two widows, with 5 daughters and 4 sons, of whom 5 are orphans, without any breadwinner.
We can't bear more losses.
We have been living and struggling under siege for many years, and my father founded our house, which was sheltering us, until the occupation destroyed the houses adjacent to our house and swept two rooms of the house, destroying our warm house and all the memories of its corners.
We have miraculously escaped the inevitable death several times. Death was very close to us. They bombed 3 houses around our house, we saw death with our own eyes, we saw the remains, and we smelled the scent of the dead.
We had a very difficult days that normal humans could not bear.
I appeal to you in these difficult moments when we are suffering the scourge of siege and war, and we are under the weight of poverty, hunger and destitution. My family to get out of Gaza as soon as possible so that my family and I can stay in a place that suits us and is fit for living, and to live in safety, stability and calm.
This funding campaign aims to support me in rebuilding my broken life, completing my dream and establishing a future for me and my family.
Help us overcome the shock of losing everything we have, and to restore the parts of our war-breaking life. I hope you will help us escape from Gaza as soon as possible before it is too late and to establish a business project to build our future and our lives again.
I fully understand that times are difficult for everyone, but your support and donations have a direct impact on our future. We are just innocent civilians who want to live happily and safely and get out of the horrors of war.
We love life, and we just hate war like you, the least you can do is help me and my family escape as soon as possible before it's too late.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story..
I hope you can help us ...

Something I just recently found out about the onset of POTS: it can initially be triggered by an infection. People have developed it after battling Covid-19. I've never had covid (she says as she goes and knocks on every piece of wood in her house) but I was hospitalized last year for three days to be treated for sepsis that was brought on by a silent UTI. My symptoms started at that time. Unfortunately I was being treated by an idiot doctor in a crummy hospital. They kept saying those symptoms were anxiety and drugging my ass to high hell on benzos and gave me an antibiotic that is known to be very dangerous for EDS patients. They also gave me permanent scars because no one would listen when I said I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and to be gentle with my skin when inserting IVs. One nurse was just a nasty piece of work and kept stabbing me like she was a horror movie villain from the 80s and told me to suck it up when I ended up in tears. Yes, I reported her and she was actually held accountable for her behavior. Long, rambling story short my (amazing) new doctor thinks the sepsis combined with my EDS triggered the POTS and stay FAR AWAY from St. Francis Hospital in Memphis if you have EDS or POTS...or a fucking paper cut. Baptist Memorial Hospital is your friend here in Memphis.
To anyone in the Memphis area who needs a good doctor to treat your POTS or EDS, message me. I'll send you my doc's contact info. He's been a true hero to me and I love him to death.
Also, anyone in Fort Wayne, Indiana who knows of a good doctor, please hit me up with the information. I'm moving sometime in the next year. I love my doctor but there is just too much violence in Memphis. The shootout behind my house last month where a bullet went through my next door neighbor's living room window was the last straw for my husband and I.

Surgery happened on Tuesday! So my thyroid is now gone, along with some suspicious looking lymph nodes. The surgeon, Dr Lawrence Shirley at Baptist Health, was wonderful and has genuine concern for my progress. He told me that what was removed will be examined/tested by a pathologist to see if there may be any other issues, but hopefully this will be all I need to start healing. Hopefully. I'm not saying anything for certain.
The surgery itself was pretty easy on me. The only other time I've had major surgery like this was almost 24 years ago, when my twin daughters were born. That was a much different experience, but I have strong memories of the hospital staff at University of Kentucky hospital, and most of those memories are not positive. I'll just leave it at that. Baptist has been great so far. Everyone I've interacted with has been kind and made me feel like I was being genuinely cared for. Especially the nurse I was assigned Wednesday morning, Cody. He and I had a few conversations about the economy and comic books and movies, and that really helped me stay positive even though I was in pain.
I am still in a lot of pain. Swallowing hurts, as well as turning my head, leaning, bending over, or sitting up in bed. I tried a couple of times this morning before just rolling myself over to the side so I had more leverage to stand. I also apparently talked way too much yesterday because by the end of the day, my voice was all hoarse and that was causing pain as well. So I think today is going to be a quieter day.
I'm also going to be able to take off the bandage on my incision today and see how that goes. I'm kind of dreading that, even though I am curious to see what it looks like. I'm not afraid of having a scar, I have several as it is. It's just I have this weird fear of the incision opening up on its own. That comes from when I was recovering from the C-section and a staple that was holding the incision closed popped. It didn't really cause any problems, but I had nightmares that my guts could just fall out at any moment. Logically I know that's not going to happen, but the gremlins that control my anxiety levels are having a blast making me paranoid.
At this point, I'm at just around a third of the way toward my goal. I've already had to use what I've raised so far to keep the bills paid and pay for part of the surgery. The hospital has put me on an installment plan that will have me paying about $300 a month for 18 months. That is so far outside my budget, so I'm going to be pushing this fundraiser more, and I'd really love it if those of you that have already donated to share this page and encourage your friends to do the same. The more eyes we get on this, the better.
Right now my bank account is looking sad and since I'm missing time from work, my next paycheck is going to be just a little over half of what I usually bring home. It's only the 19th now, but I'm already nervous about being able to make November's rent. And I know things are tight for everyone, so even the smallest donations can make a big difference to me. A $5 donation is just as good as a $500 donation, and I'm grateful for all of them.
I'm grateful for all of you, for all you've done for me, whether it's a donation or words of support or a phone call, all of it. I usually feel like I'm taking on the world all by my lonesome, but I do feel very much supported and cared for thanks to all of you.
Please enjoy my post-op selfie and the grippy socks I absolutely took home with me. I'm wearing them now and I love them. I'm going to be doing nothing but resting today, since I overdid a little yesterday. Later taters.

"MY BOY" — LYRICS Songwriters: Bill Martin/Phil Coulter/Claude Francois/Jean-Pierre Bourtayre You're sleeping son, I know But really, this can't wait I wanted to explain Before it gets too late For your mother and me Love has finally died This is no happy home But God knows how I've tried Because you're all I have, my boy You are my life, my pride, my joy And if I stay, I stay because of you, my boy I know it's hard to understand Why did we ever start? We're more like strangers now Each acting out a part I have laughed, I have cried I've lost every game Taken all I can take But I'll stay here just the same Because you're all I have, my boy You are my life, my pride, my joy And if I stay, I stay because of you, my boy Sleep on, you haven't heard a word Perhaps it's just as well Why spoil your little dreams Why put you through the hell Life is no fairy tale As one day you will know But now you're just a child I'll stay here and watch you grow Because you're all I have, my boy You are my life, my pride, my joy And if I stay, I stay because of you, my boy Because you're all I have, my boy You are my life, my pride, my joy And if I stay, I stay because of you, my boy Yeah, because you're all I have, my boy You are my life, my pride, my joy And if I stay, I stay because of you, my boy Oh, because you're all I have

THE TAKE 2 Studio Sessions for RCA · December 13, 1973: Stax Studios, Memphis Please, read what Ernst Jorgensen says about the moment "My Boy" was being recorded, and listen to the take. -- The next night Elvis began with a song from his live repertoire, “My Boy,” which had been included in the August Las Vegas show. The song told the traumatic tale of losing a child through divorce, but Elvis wanted to be done with it fast. When Felton pushed for a third take, he exploded: “I told you to get this goddamn thing in two takes. I can’t sing it no more.” Take three was actually better; it lacked the long fade out Felton wanted, but he knew better than to ask for another, confident that he could loop it in mixing to get the effect he wanted. Excerpt: "Elvis Presley, A Life in Music: The Complete Recording Sessions" by Ernst Jorgensen. Foreword by Peter Guralnick (1998) -- So, when I first read this part of Jorgensen's book I hadn't listen to that take yet, but now that I did I don't take Elvis' comment as "he exploded", do you? If that was Elvis exploding, I have to reconsider a lot of the stories about his supposed short-tempered moments. Just saying. He sounded pretty like just casually commenting rather than snapping at Felton like the description of the moment made it look like. Still, I personally think that comment came for a reason, maybe EP was too polite - or too embarrassed - to show how affected by the lyrics of that song he was. Below is the take two alone, if you prefer to go straight to the point go to min. 3:50.

“This article contains discussion of fatal violence against a Black transgender person.
Tee Arnold, a Black transgender man also known to his friends and family as Lagend Billions, was shot in Hallandale Beach, Florida on April 3. Arnold died from his injuries in HCA Florida Aventura Hospital on April 7. He was 36 years old.
According to ABC affiliate WPLG, Arnold was shot near a shopping complex at around 1:30 a.m., and was transported to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital in critical condition. He died four days later. Police told WPLG that they do not believe the shooting was a hate crime, but rather an ‘isolated incident,’ adding they had identified a woman who knew Arnold as one suspect. In a Facebook post on the night of April 1, just over 24 hours before the shooting, Arnold wrote that someone had placed ‘a reward on [his] head’ and said they wanted to kill him.
Arnold attended Miami Central Senior High School and went on to study at Florida Memorial University, a Baptist and historically Black university (HBCU), according to his social media profiles. In social media posts reviewed by Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents (PLC), friends and family mourned Arnold’s ‘greatness, laughter, and good energy,’ recalling his compassion and willingness to help during difficult times.”
Rest in power Tee Arnold.

Hi, could you maybe do one where Austin is on set but gets a call that his girlfriend was involved in an accident and he goes there immediately and is super soft spoken and gentle with her? Thank youuu
Austin was in the middle of a scene when an assistant ran onto set, holding out Austin's phone which said it had at least six missed calls from the local hospital. "I'm sorry for interrupting, sir. But this is important." He nodded and as soon as he realized a hospital was calling him, he ran off somewhere quiet while his heart began to pound.
"Is this Austin?" A female voice on the phone asked
"Yes, this is he?" He said, as he began to panic. "I'm Dr. Jones calling from Baptist Memorial, you've been listed as YN's emergency contact and unfortunately she came in about an hour ago with road rash, a few lacerations to her face and a broken wrist. She's alright but we haven't been able to reach you and I wanted to try and call myself."
"Yes, yes my phone was off... I-I-I'll be right there. Is she okay?"" Austin asked. "She's going to be okay sir, only minor injuries but she's been asking for you constantly."
Austin took a deep breath, trying to keep calm as he ran his hand through his hair. "I'm sure she's so scared... I'm leaving now."
Austin jumped and his car and sped to the hospital. He haphazardly parked his car and ran into the ER. Out of breath, he asked, "I'm Austin... my girlfriend, YN was in an accident and she was brought here?"
"Oh yes sir, she's in room 3416." Before the nurse could finish saying the room number, Austin sped off to your room.
He realized as soon as he got to your hospital door that he probably looked all crazy terrified. And the last thing you needed was to be stressed out or scared so he took a minute to try and calm himself down before he saw you.
He ended up pacing a bit, trying to control his breathing so he wasn't visibly freaking out when he walked in. "Okay, okay Austin," He whispered to himself, "the nurse said she was okay... get yourself together!" He yelled at himself. "Breathe.. she's fine... she's fine... she's fine!"
It took about ten minutes before he felt calm enough to even put his hand on your hospital doorknob. Here we go he thought.
He expected you to be covered in tubes and wires but thankfully you only had a wrapped wrist and a smile on your face along with a few bandages on your face from the roadrash and lacerations they said you got in the accident'. Leave it you to be thrown around in a car a bit and still be smiling.
"Hi baby," you whispered, gesturing him to come over with your good hand. He hesitated, afraid giving you a hug would hurt you. "I... I don't wanna hurt you." You chuckled a bit but stopped as you held your ribs. "I-I'm okay, I'm okay I promise. Just the wrist and a few bruises. Come give me a hug bubs."
Hearing the permission, Austin rushed forward and carefully hovered above you so you could finally give him a hug. "Hi baby.." you said again, relaxing into the loose hug. "Ugh, you scared me bug." "I didn't do it on purpose." You reminded him. "I know, I know I just... I never wanna be that scared again. Especially when it comes to you. I love you bubba." He says, looking down at your joined hands. "Hey, hey," You unclasp your hands and cradle his cheek in your good hand. "Austin, I'm okay. I'm totally okay I promise. It could've been a lot worse and yes I'm lucky but I promise you I'm good. I'm just gonna have trouble not being able to use both my hands for a bit."
Austin's face lights up at the thought of helping you while your hand and wrist heal. "I can help!" He says almost excitedly. "I know you will baby boy. And I wanna thank you in advance. And I love you too by the way."
"I-is there anything I can do.. now?" He hesitantly asks, giving your laid up body a full onceover. "Can you just lay with me? Just be careful of my arm." He nods. "My feet will hang off the bed though.." He says smiling as you two attempt to get comfy in the bed meant for one. "You're my gentle giant." You whisper as you lay your head on his chest. "Hey, hey are you allowed to sleep?" You nod, feeling his heartbeat pick up anxiously through his shirt. "Yes baby, I'm all cleared. Now can we please take a nap?"
Austin already knew he wouldn't be sleeping much, he'd be too worried about you to get any real sleep but he nodded anyway. "Just wake me if you need anything okay?" You nodded dutifully and sighed against your boyfriends chest, happy to be back where you belong. In his safe embrace.
