With The Crane Wives my favorite changes from time to time. I remember when I was ill and basically bedridden for two months, I'd spend hours just listening to all of their songs. Rn my favorite is I Aint Done. Apparently it's supposed to be based on some urban legend? I like to think of it as some tragic sapphic story

Marianas Trench is another one of my favorite bands. If you were a teen like me who loved watching AMV's in the 2000's to 2010's, their songs are often used for ships lol. (i get the feeling you might be a bit on the young side tho, so sorry for talking about some oldies here) Hard to pick a favorite too, but maybe this one since it's the first one of theirs I heard

I havent ventured too deeply in rap heavy songs, but this is one I like a LOT. The pre-chorus and chorus are such killers too and a lot of fun to sing lol

Jordan Fisher is such an underrated gem. Their songs take me back to the classic RnB from the 2000's. And watching them perform is kinda captivating.

There are also a lot of good songs in my country I could talk days about, especially this one by Ben & Ben. The mv stars their bassist and keyboardist who are dating irl, which makes it even cuter

Beetlejuice is my favorite musical, so I gotta choose one from it. The lyrics for the songs in this musical are so good, but especially with Dead Mom. The bridge where Lydia turns all soft because of how much she loved her mom gets me everytime. (fun fact for those who dont know, the voice actors for Pentious/Adam and Rosie were the OG actors for the title character and the step mom)

Lastly, I havent actually watched the Waitress yet(I'm talkin about bootlegs ofc) but the soundtrack's really good. The voice actor for Niffty was also there, so you might wanna check it out just to hear her sing, she's phenomenal. This song is undoubtedly the best of the bunch, and there's actually a version song by Lucifer's VA that is absolutely heart-breaking, but I'm putting the original version in the post for the intended message of the song because its important. Also this animatic is kinda insane. Jeremy Jordan's version of this song really is worth checking out too for sure

Top 5 technologies that, unfortunately, have fallen out of use

okay this was interesting, had to rly think. Also idk if my definition of "technology" is right, but anything resembling will go. ALSO damn I rambled a lot, sorry abt that, apparently I like thinking about old tech

CDs. I miss owning albums, it was so nice to like actually have the physical copy of something u love. I think that's what missing now and is why I sometimes get actually annoyed abt loving a band/song (rn it's The Vantages (a band) & I'm actually mad about it) bc the "listening to it is not enough, I need to inject it to my bloodstream"-mood, which in actuality is that I'd love a physical copy to make it feel like a concrete thing. It's like the next best thing to going to a concert, and I can't keep buying merch I'll never wear outside my house to compensate. Also made u like decide on what album u want to listen to & the songs are always gonna be in the same order the artist decided them to be in, no mixing songs from the same or diff artists, you had to make A Choice. (actually my dad has my fave bands CDs (old-ish band & he an og fan) and it's kinda comforting to me that if (/when?) some Spotify apocalypse eventually happens, I'll have a way to listen to them anyways). Also been thinking for years about buying either a CD- or a vinyl player, or something like that bc I want to have physical copies of my faves (but haven't decided on what yet (probs vinyl tho. for the vibes.) and also the money aspect of it is not great)

those big computers that were for the whole household. We didn't have one growing up (bc my parents had computers at their work and so we didn't need one) but the thrill of going to like a friend who lived near and they used their 1h of computer time to like play some horse game; unparalleled. Or like the games at Miniclip ?? or later on CLUB PENGUIN !!!!! (still to this day the best game that has or ever will exist) (tho I think at around club penguin-era my sister got a laptop so I used that until I got my own)

Those calculators that prints on paper what u've calculated right after, idk what they're called. Never used one & obv never had one bc was a kid, and actually not fully sure if ppl still do use them (but guessing at least that they're not as popular anymore) but damn. The pure aesthetics and vibes. Like the movie scenes of a character calculating using that while looking at bills to indicate that the said character has some finance problems? phenomenal, cinematography etc.

Ok SO, I’ve been following your AUs on AO3 for the past few months and first of all, love it, I love your continuity with metaphors or specific descriptors that span across works, like Grian’s banded wings, glamor as heat haze on tarmac, scott having hair like spun sugar, just AUGHHHH so good I love. Little details like that make me as a writer and ofc fanfic enjoyed foam at the mouth. It’s so vivid I can picture it in my mind, I love the eclectic feel of the undercity, the mechanical lore things like wagons in Traveling thieves or rail carts and labs in TTSBC! Don’t even get me started on the peice about Doc and Etho in the depths, that one is so so good.

And your phenomenal foreshadowing? Like first read through never guessed that avian at Fremeere’s was skizz, but I went back after your recent upload and wow it totally is! Or how first read of TTSBC I never thought the two directors were the same because I hopped around in the reading order, but now it’s wayyy too similar! And now I get why a past and long dead antagonist would have such a specific and recognizable speech pattern… eerie. I love it. Can’t wait to learn more about that storyline!! I wonder how much Tango knows about Doc’s history with the labs and if he realizes the connection after talking with Zedaph. Zedango my beloved! Or just tango content/lore in general hehe. I was litterally kicking my feet and squeaking about it bc it’s just like TTSBC and your AU makes me so genuinely happy to read and has me in a chokehold. But the rocket arrows?? That are Hot Guy brand color coded! And expensive and I can see character!Cub being exasperated about scar’s trigger happy use of the rockets in the same way he doesn’t call the lab the Hot Cave, hehe. Or Scar showing off to Grian that he’s not the only one who can shoot sparkly projectiles!

Heat haze on tarmac, hair like spun sugar, stuff like that just feels like it helps make a certain trait pop and so I try to make sure every character has at least one of them! I'm so glad you enjoy the mechanical ascept of the AUs! Both TTSBC and TT have their own little things, moving parts that keep the worlds going!

I love trying to layer in foreshadowing when I can! Skizz appearing, but I purposefully didn't tag him as a character because, thanks to avian culture, he doesn't use his name, and so it's not until we get to see from his POV that we actually get confirmation that's him!

I have no idea what you're talking about with the director, tho, because she's totally dead! She died 24 years ago during the Anarchy! Any odd vocal ticks and specific dislikes for hypothesis is completely coincidental and should be, should be, should be disregarded. 😑

uhhhhhhh ranking musicals i've seen in different categories (plus my school musical fuck you)

acting:

hadestown (saw the US tour cast in 2023) - phenomenal show all around. cast was great and easy to relate to.

& juliet (AUS cast in 2023) - so much better than the west end and broadway casts im not kidding. made juliet very youthful and full of spirit and energy. really really good esp. considering how many of their professional debuts it was.

hamilton (AUS cast 2022) - it was really good. almost cried a few times

moulin rouge (AUS cast 2023) - i fucking love this show like actually it's my second favourite

Legally Blonde (im not doxxing myself but it was my school musical and it was really fucking good fuck you) - well developed characters and interpretations, not the same as broadway cast but in a good way. i am biased tho sue me

chicago (AUS cast 2024) - solid cast, good singing and characters. less memorable than the others.

Well, I finished Future Redeemed. As a whole, I'm glad I experienced it. I think the self-contained story with Matthew and Nael was really good. I'm also very shalvis brainrot with A. I think my impression of Rex was just a bit too ruined by my distaste for Xenoblade 2, but his class is very fun. It sure is a shame for brainrot. I really wish there was a bit more time dedicated to Glimmer and Nikol. Their arcs were sort of glossed over, which bugs me because Glimmer was shaping up to be a really interesting character but then the writers sort of dropped it. Mio's family should start a band. Nael, Mio, and Glimmer would emotionally annihilate me. Nael's theme and Mio's themes alone already did that. And Glimmer has to be there because Cello Supremecy (I play cello :D!!). I like how this was just the world's most convoluted family road trip. Like, so we're clear, Glimmer is Rex's Daughter, Nael and Matthew are Rex's great great grandchildren. A is Pyra and Mythra's sibling, which makes them Matthew's second cousin technically. Meanwhile, Shulk is a recreation of Klaus more or less, which makes him Rex's brother-in-law technically. And Mikol is Shulk's kid. Phenomenal. Really liked the final boss theme too. I also have mixed opinions about Matthew. On one hand, I really like him. On the other hand, I really would have liked to see more of him since I don't think I fully warmed up to the character by the time the game expected you to. Or rather, I don't think it felt like he had proved himself as the rightful protagonist. I'll have to mull over it some more before I can put my finger on why exactly tho.

I also really loved the weapon aesthetics for the party this game. The designs and animations for them were just really fun. I don't think I got the chance to properly appreciate everyone's kits because I superglued myself to A, but I will want to replay this dlc some day, and when I do, I want to try out Glimmer, Rex, and Nikol. I think the gameplay here is overall a step down from 3 tho. A lot of my favorite things in 3's combat just weren't very applicable here, and I really dislike existence of the notifications in the exploration, since it just really drained the magic out of the world for me. Mainly, there really wasn't that wonder of "I wonder how much of the world is left for me to explore, cant wait to find out" that the first game and X really fucking captured for me. And with the combat, the lack of a class system and weaker character customization really downgraded my enjoyment. I think it's also that 3 managed to capture a specific magic for me with its complex yet understandable combat system that made slowly mastering it over the course of several hundred hours such a treat. Especially with how many options there were to approach any given problem. I literally spent a week straight grinding the final fight with N and managed to not get frustrated once nor did I ever feel the desire to lower the difficulty (by, like, not being horrifically underlevelled or changing the mode to anything but hard) because the game's combat system managed to reach this sweet spot where I both understood the cause of every death, had the room to adapt and evolve my strategies, and had room to tinker with character load-outs until I reached something I was satisfied with. The game just also just managed to make finding synergies, exploiting iframes, and finding unique valuable assets and mashing them together, that actually building the party felt really good. But also, the way the game uses iframes and leniency mechanics made them really satisfying to exploit. Stuff like, you could protect a character from dying by making them interlink, because they will survive at 1HP if they start that animation. Or timing the dodge abilities to match with big attacks. And utilizing chain attacks as a defensive tool. Having to calculate when the best time is to be on a specific character and when not to. These are all things I really enjoyed doing with 3's combat. But they weren't applicable to FR.

So, with party customization, it's going to be a lot more limitted than in 3 and I don't blame that, but I was caught off guard by just how much that disengaged me from the combat. I will say that I really liked FR's affinity system. I've always disliked the concept of EXP as a growth stat. It doesn't feel meaningful and it generally makes power levels feel rather arbitrary. I think Xenoblade X is the only game I can think of where I actually liked its inclusion and implementation, and even then, levels stop really meaning much of anything after a point. But Affinity does feel rewarding and meaningful. I like how it's a shared resource and the game asks you to distribute it wisely. I also like how it's tied to exploration and defeating optional enemies, granting a better reward for facing them. It's not an unheard of concept, it's literally just a skill tree, but I really hope Monolith continues to iterate on it in future games. I'm also a fan of the chain attack books. It was fun tinkering with them. I hope Monolith iterates on that concept. I also liked A's kit. I really like how you can heal allies and you can heal yourself, but you can't do both at the same time. I also really liked the ludonarrative yummies of how well A and Shulk synergize with each other. Also, I really like how A's kit embodies the supportive nature of the Monado in 1's gameplay, while Shulk's kit embodies his will to protect. But also, I really wish that Shulk's kit has a dodge button. It feels way less interactive spamming the Evasion Up art than it did using the dodge buttons in the dodge-tank classes in 2 and 3. I also felt like it was a bit frustrating trying to build up aggro on Shulk. The Unity Attack mechanics also felt less flexible than the Ouroboros Forms in application, even if they are more flexible in theory. The problem is that every Unity Attack is designed go be used against a launched target, which makes them so much less flexible. I also dislike the prevalence of damage over time status effects. They don't feel meaningful as an intended mechanic, but they basically render clutch plays where you keep two characters alive on 1HP null. It also really bugged me that A's AI is capable of using their talent art and there's no way to disable it. That oversight alone managed to kill my interest in the gameplay because it ruined any potential skill curve on using the character since every time you swap to check on someone else, there's a chance of A using their once-per-battle super-art at the worst times possible. This alone resulted in several deaths where I wanted to save Vision for a boss's big attack in Phase 2 but the AI was like "nah." Also if you die repeatedly, the game keeps prompting you to lower the difficulty, which did more to piss me off than help. As a general rule for game design, having those kinds of prompts show up repeatedly only really serves to shorten a player's fuse when frustrated.

I also think the Valak Mountain section fell into the trapping of "the plot is picking up massively so I don't want to go through these long gameplay sections, I want to know what happens next." I think all of the Xenoblade games fall into this issue or a similar one where at some point, I either get burnt out on the sidequests or too invested in the plot so I bombrush past the gameplay. I just felt it extra hard here because I went into the mountains with the wrong idea about how much game was left and I was eager to see the finale. Though, there were also external factors at play.

I also found the way the map was connected to feel a bit clunky. Specifically with the ether rails. It felt like the devs wanted to make a looping in world design but had to cheat a little to get there, which diminished the payoff of the loops. It felt clunky because the transportation felt unnatural as it often involved characters sliding up slopes at high velocity.

It's not that the exploration was bad in a way I disrespect, but I really hope that Monolith does not take its exploration mechanics in this direction for future entries.

Overall, I have some major issues with the dlc, but I'm still very happy to have experienced it.

Eels- Hombre Lobo: A really enjoyable album, personally still like Beautiful Freak more as a whole but a really enjoyable group of songs. Has a cool theming thoughout, the eels are just such a good band. Fav Song:In My Dreams

Against Me!- Transgender Dysphoria Blues: Been meaning to check this album out for a long time ever since recommend them by

@kokomoryuko.bsky.social . Really fantastic punk band with great trans songs dealing with transitioning and dysphoria. Fav song- Osama bin Laden as the Crucified Christ

The Oozes-Gelatinous Man: Really energetic queer punk album. I really like just how chaotic some of the songs get. Really worth checking out. Fav song- Ultrasound

Liars- Mess: I really like the use of instrumentals on this album. It has a great production sound, it has a certian crunch I really enjoy. Need to check out the rest of their stuff one day. Fav song- Mess on a Mission

Grave Encounters-Surpised how much I liked this one. I do not often care for found footage movies but it was really nice here. The ghost hunter motfi was done to great effect way more then deadstream. I think the fact of the areas constantly changing also added a lot. Really enjoyable,def recommend

Anton Blast- I am sad I did not really enjoy most of my time with Anton blast. The game clearly has a great deal of heart put in it and I still do respect it, I just do not really want to ever play it again. There are some things I do like first off, some of the concept levels are really fun and I enjoyed seeing them. For example there was a pool level that became horror and it was really cool to see what they did there. Art wise the game is also phenomenal. I love how the game looks and the designs for each character completely nail what they were going for. Finally while challenging I think the bosses were all really enjoyable which is a rarity for platformers in my opinion. 

Sadly, I think the game also just has very poor level design. I found the levels to not have the level of cohesion that other platformers I played recently have. Not to compare it to Pizza Tower but the back track mechanic here just does not have the same touch that PT had in it. Where in PT the track back had me excited to go back to the door, this game at times just made me annoyed as it kinda just always makes a new path completely not really feeling like escape and more of , part two of the same level. I also have big issues with the game not really communicating new mechanics, multiple times I found myself confused about what to do on a level just to have to mess around until I stumbled on what to do. I also think the game suffers from not being able to see some jumps making the platforming just not satisfying. I sadly can not even say the mechanics make it worth it. The base platforming feels too sloppy a good amount of the time, and especially on the later levels that require precise platforming it can be really infuriating. Of the various gimmick abilities there are really only two that I found fun, which is a real shame.

Again I really wanted to like this game , and there are things I do really enjoy with it. Unfortunately I personally just think this game does not live up to the expectations I got based on everyone I seen talk about it. Still glad it did well and hope the devs make more games in the future with the same amount of love as this one.

sooooooooooo the gig was PHENOMENAL i definitely think it doesn't translate in footage/videos how fucking HARD blind channel FUCKS live. even the people who were there for electric callboy seemed to be very impressed and this made me very proud of my boys 🥺

those were the gazebos where the bands hung out and on the far left of those, if aleksi had filmed a bit farther you could have seen us. so we basically stayed there all day NEXT TO THE FUCKING BANDS who also had to pass by us every time they had to go to the bus. i didn't really feel like going to talk to them and ask for pics because idk I'm always terrified of bothering people 😅 but some fans who were with us did manage to get pictures and stuff. at some point aleksi put a chair in the middle of nowhere and was just minding his business on his phone and two girls went up to him. i followed the whole scene and they talked a bit, he gave them a picture and an autograph and seemed so so sweet my heart melted guys 😭😭

(actually when i got to the venue (around 2pm) and went up to Eda and Karla, while i was hugging eda she went "look who's behind you" and it was aleksi sitting under the gazebo and i let out a unsettling screech lmao i wasn't expecting to see them)

gonna use this as an excuse to talk about all my favorite bands. the killers are one of my all time favorite bands and i FINALLY saw them live for the first time last october and they were so fucking good. im hoping to see paramore this year for the first time too.

my all time favorite band is catfish and the bottlemen. they broke up tho which i still have not recovered from. i met the lead singer, van mccann in 2017 bc he and i were staying at the same hotel when i saw them open for green day (green day is fucking phenomenal live too oh my god). my friend and i got to talk with him for like 20 minutes. we were walking over and then i realized he was talking on the phone so i was gonna head back but he saw us and hung up and he was so nice i miss that band so fucking much. i want to get a tattoo of the album cover of the balance. its a toucan drinking soda. he also told us that green day were at that hotel too so i was losing my shit every time i was in the hallway or lobby at the thought of running into billie joe armstrong but i never did.

my other favorite bands are florence and the machine, young the giant, fall out boy, weezer, oasis, mother mother, finish ticket, and arlie. arlies a small band i saw them in june at a tiny night club and i talked with him for a bit after and im seeing them again next month. im gonna see if they are looking for a concert photographer bc i wanna do that after graduation.

and for solo artists i love matt maeson, briston maroney, and of course my pride and joy, taylor swift.

This one gets an extra star because Palaye Royale were the opening act. It was a small venue, so that was pretty cool. And I bought a Palaye Royale beanie that I still wear all the time. But, my friend and I were really disappointed, because Yungblud signed autographs for a few fans, but by the time we made it outside, he was already gone 💔

I hate to rate my favorite band so low!! I mean. It was the first day, of their first US tour, and it felt incredibly special to be one of the very first Americans to see them live.

But, as I mentioned earlier, they were the third of five bands to take the stage. After BC’s set, I had to sit through two more bands, that I really didn’t care about. During From Ashes To New (the headliner)’s set, someone pushed me and I almost fell down. Towards the end, I was really in pain and just wanted the show to be over. ;_;

This was a hometown show, and MGK really pulled out all the stops!!

He zip lined from one end of the arena to the other, which was crazy to watch. He also broke a wine glass with his face and performed the last quarter of his set covered in blood. He’s truly unpredictable.

Oh and Avril Lavigne opened for him. She was amazing too 💕

Black Veil Brides (Cleveland, OH. September 8, 2022)

BVB’s actual set was phenomenal. I have no complaints about that! But I’m ranking them low, because they were the third of four bands to perform. (It was We Came As Romans, then Motionless In White, then BVB, then Ice Nine Kills.)

MIW’s set was actually decent, but I didn’t care about the other two at all. The show was just…too fucking long. By the end of it, my feet were really sore and I just wanted to sit down ASAP. 😭

The crowd was also really unruly and I got pushed and shoved a lot. :(

My Chemical Romance (Detroit, MI. September 13, 2022)

I was in the waaaaay back of a huge arena. Like, my seat was so high off the ground that it literally gave me vertigo. 😨 My friend had to buy a beer to calm herself, because it was setting off her acrophobia that bad.

But, this was the show where Gerard wore a nurse outfit. I fucking love Nurse!Gerard. The look has inspired so much fan art. Also, I had been waiting like….almost a decade for this band to reunite. I was thrilled to see them live at all.

The merch line after the show was stupidly long (it wrapped up a whole flight of stairs!) but the merch guys felt bad for the people who waited for an hour or more, and started just giving them free shit on top of their purchase.

My friend and I got separated at one point and she met Sebastian while I was somewhere else?! But, I got to meet Remington and he hugged me 🖤🖤🖤

the bright sessions: people with superpowers go to therapy! plus: shadowy capitalistic conspiracies, amazing romances and phenomenal character development! i'm not a fan of romances and i Loved the ones here (it's not heavily romance focused though!) (added bonus: lgbt main characters + main lgbt romance) complete, ended in 2018. i think a spin off series is running rn tho!

the adventure zone: this isn't an audio drama, it's an actual play d&d podcast! the first season (balance) is amazing- hilarious and heart wrenching! (the heart wrenching takes a while to kick in but MAN it's so good) the first season ended in 2017. i haven't finished the second big season (amnesty) but i loved what i did listen to, same with the currently running season (graduation)

sayer: starts off as sinister night vale but with an ai and in space, evolves into a complicated save-the-world plot concerning several ais. it's in second person and it's Amazing! lots of meditations on the self and personhood. currently on hiatus but will be ending when it resumes

alice isn't dead: from the people who did night vale! starts as a trucker trying to find her wife, evolves to include shadowy government conspiracies and the power of regular people banding together. ending made me tear up it's really good! it's Big on the horror (the first ep is the only podcast that's ever truly scared me and it continues to scare the shit out of me to this day) but its Extremely Good Horror. very americana too! complete, ended in 2018.

ok that's the more well known ones out of the way, i think? i'm not too confident about how well known some of them are nowadays ^^' all i can say is that i heard abt them frequently in 2016. now onto the lesser known ones ! the ones that are complete are generally pretty short listens (relatively- they're still a good handful of hours at the least)

zero hours: by the wolf 359 people, it's a short anthology that released all at once last year. to pharaphrase/quote the official blurb: each episode is a take on the end of the world, whether the apocalypse is planetary or personal. each episode is separated by 99 years, starting in the past (1722) reaching the present and then overtaking it. surprisingly hopeful ending, made me <:')

i am in eskew: you've probably heard me holler about this before- it follows the trials and tribulations of david ward, who lives in the nightmarish and otherworldly city of eskew. 30 episodes long and complete, with a phenomenal ending! i can't rave about this enough i could Keep talking but i'll cut myself short. it's horror and it's damn good horror! does deal with extremely heavy topics, please be careful!

janus descending: sci fi horror with what has to be the most interesting formatting i've seen in ages: the two points of view alternate each episode... but one is chronological and one is backwards! amazingly done, keeps you guessing until the end! complete. follows peter and chel as they undertake a survey mission on an alien planet

midnight radio: made by @/theradioghost! big on the idea that "all ghost stories are love stories". a 1950s radio hostess gets letters from a fan. horror, big on the 1950s aesthetics, focus on the relationship between one and one's hometown. lovely ending! it's sapphic too :]

the far meridian: by the same people who did ars paradoxica! follows peri, a bit of a hermit who has extreme social anxiety, who lives in a lighthouse that suddenly begins to teleport. each morning peri wakes up and the lighthouse is in a different place! there are like... some horror elements? kinda? but it's not intense imo. it mainly follows peri learning to cope with her anxiety & helping others, with each episode usually having a one off encounter (usually pretty strange!) often has wholesome vibes. s3 is currently in production and is the final season. plus: lgbt characters, and kinda spoilers but peri uses a cane later on!

old gods of appalachia: honestly it's what it says on the tin! a collection of short stories set in historical appalachia that deal with entities beyond human understanding. they're good about trigger warnings, but it's Horror. produced by actual appalachians! stellar music, a Lot strong female characters, and a good amount of lgbt rep! killer music!! it's currently releasing but the latest short story is finished. (do listen in order though!)

the deep vault: by the archive 81 team! in an "almost-post-apocalyptic" america a group of friends chase a rumor about a secret hidden vault, only to Find it! follows the group as they traverse the deep vault. horror, actively points out capitalism a Lot, definetly has an interesting ending! amazing sound design, which is to be expected from dan powell!

tides: the official blurb is short and sweet: "tides is the story of dr. winnifred eurus, a xenobiologist stuck on an unfamiliar planet with hostile tidal forces". extremely snarky and endearing main character and fascinating worldbuilding! i don't know the status of s2, but s1 was really good!

limetown: follows one lia haddock, a public radio reporter, as she tries to unravel the mystery of what happened at limetown. all she knows is that 10 years prior, over 300 men, women and children vanished. horror, mystery, and some sci fi elements. presented in a found footage kinda way. i really enjoyed it, especially the first season. complete.

mabel: horror (big on the haunted house type specifically), sapphic romance, fun take on the fair folk/fae! follows anna limon, an in home carer who's trying to get in touch with her client's estranged granddaughter. evolves into a big fae-horror-romance-thing! really interesting romance tbh. amazing imagery and prose- lots of prose + almost poetry, but it's really good i promise. currently on a post season hiatus

spines: horror but it evolves past just horror in an interesting way (keeping the horror bits, of course). follows wren, who woke up in an attic surrounded by the remains of a cult ritual without any memories of who she is or what she was doing. she searches for answers, encountering creepy shit along the way. really interesting take on the super-secret-organization-that's-always-been-there trope! really good ending. one of the main characters is nonbinary + there's other lgbt main characters.

mirrors: by the people who did spines. also starts as horror but evolves past just horror (it's also sci fi). follows three women in three different centuries who are all experiencing the same haunting. phenomenal take on ghosts! like i can't articulate how cool this angle on ghosts is! s3 is supposed to start this year :] one of the main characters is sapphic, and her wife is a supporting character.

the six disappearances of ella mccray: also by the people who did spines and mirrors. evolves past just horror but keeps more of the horror elements? follows the 6 povs of the people who witnessed the surreal disappearance of ella mccray. each saw something different and surreal, and as they search for her, surreal things start happening to them. unsure abt the status of s3 but s1 and s2 are really good! lgbt main characters, including a trans lesbian (played by a trans woman!)

the bridge: horror. follows the crew of watchtower 10 on the transcontinental bridge that spans across the atlantic ocean. i listened to it back in like 2016-2017 so my memory is hazy, but i remember really enjoying it! currently on hiatus.

within the wires: sci fi... horror..? i listened to the first season a few years ago and enjoyed it and i've continued to hear really good things. it's by the people who make night vale! my memory isn't great but iirc the first season is a sort of romance that's formatted as a set of relaxation/meditation cassettes. it's a few seasons in and i think each is generally self contained, im unsure if it's currently running or not

the orbiting human circus of the air: also by the night vale people! again i listened to this a few years ago so im hazy. follows julian the janitor who works at a radio station that broadcasts from the top of the eiffel tower! surreal but in a wholesome way, iirc! i remember tearing up with happy tears at the s1 finale ^^' really good music! i think the second(?) season ended recently

stellar firma: i've only listened to a handful of episodes, but i've liked what i've heard. sci fi improv comedy that follows the newly made clone david 7 and the mess that is trexel geistman as they try and design custom planets. i think it's currently running but i dunno

rusty quill gaming: also another one that i've only listened to a few episodes of. actual play pathfinder (basically d&d) podcast set on an alternate earth. alex newall (martin's voice actor) is the dm. i've heard really good things from a lot of people! i think it's currently running but again i don't know for sure
