kenji had been eagerly anticipating this moment for days. he paced around the living room, checking the clock every few minutes. today was the day he would introduce you to emi, the baby kaiju he had been raising. he wanted everything to be perfect. when you finally arrived, ken greeted you with a warm smile and a hug. "hey, i've got a surprise for you," he said, his eyes twinkling with excitement. you followed him through the cozy house, curiosity piqued. "what kind of surprise?" you asked, smiling at his enthusiasm. kenji led you into the elevator, his hands over your eyes, to the lowest floor of his house. as he walked behind you, making sure that your steps were steady, you could hear soft, curious rumblings. when your vision was no longer obstructed, you saw her. in the center of the room stood emi, her large, curious eyes blinking down at you. despite her imposing height, her demeanor was a mixture of innocence and wonder. "this is emi," ken said softly, watching your reaction. "emi, this is [name]."

emi's eyes widened with curiosity as she took in your presence. you approached her slowly, feeling a mix of awe and excitement. "hi, emi. it's so nice to meet you," you said gently, your voice echoing slightly in the vast room. emi's eyes flickered between you and ken, before finally settling on your figure. she looked down at you all doe-eyed, and you melted. reaching up and placing a hand on her smooth, warm scales, you whispered softly, "she's adorable…" kenji watched you both play and interact, a look of pure joy spread on his face. "i knew she'd love you," he said, his voice filled with pride and relief. you looked up at him, hands occupied with holding one of emi's finger nubs, your heart swelling with emotion. "she's amazing, ken. you've done such a great job raising her." his expression softened, and he came over to stand beside you and emi. "i couldn't have done it without you," he admitted, his hand gently resting on your shoulder. "your support means everything to me."

emi, sensing the close bond between you and kenji, nudged you gently with her beak, her large eyes shining with affection. she let out another contented rumble, clearly enjoying the attention. you laughed again, feeling a deep connection forming. ken's eyes sparkled as he watched emi's reaction to you. "she really does love you," he said softly. "i've never seen her this happy with anyone else. i'll admit, i'm feeling a bit jealous." kenji put his hand to his chest in fabricated betrayal. "what? sad that you have to fight for her love now? you already had to fight for mine, what's one more?" the two of you shared silence, the only thing that was heard was soft hums from the kaiju. blinking at each other, you both doubled over in laughter, giggling even more when emi joined in. both of you gave emi a hug—one that didn't fully close—

and as you looked between your boyfriend and his daughter, you wondered, how did i get so lucky?
