Sad Banana's First Impressions: Lisa Frankenstein
Spoilers under the cut:
This is the best Tim Burton film I've seen in years, and he had nothing to do with it. In her directorial debut, Zelda Williams makes a flashy, neon-colored entrance with this throwback to cult classics of the 1980s. However, we must not forget the contributions of Diablo Cody's feminist sensibilities. It's rare to see the type of character arc protagonist Lisa Swallows goes through, but it feels like a breath of fresh air. Sometimes, you don't need to make your heroine better: in fact, there are cases where you should make her worse, and this is one of them. The cast gives amazing performances across the board, but I must give kudos to Cole Sprouse, whose role is acted almost entirely through body language by necessity. Overall, this Edward Scissorhands-meets-Heathers movie is destined to become a delightful cult classic, much like it's older sister Jennifer's Body (which I haven't seen yet but now must).

I'm about to go FUCKING bananas
here's what the passage says if you can't see the pic well or....whatever:
----
There was no denying the passion of Seven's sense of mission, and Janeway realized there was nothing more to be gained from debate. "That's a commendable sentiment, Seven. And I can understand why you find the immediacy of the Rangers' methods more gratifying. But I'm afraid I simply can't condone it."
"I'm not asking you to. I'm just asking you to trust me."
There was a pleading note in Seven's voice, and a purity to her expression that moved Janeway deeply. She wished she could touch Seven's cheek. "Always, Seven. Always."
Seven mustered a sad smile. "Thank you, Admiral."
"Seven...call me Kathryn."
A bittersweet silence lingered between them until Seven said, "Tell the others I said hello and that I'll be in touch again soon."
"I will." Janeway's eyes misted with emotion. "Be careful out there, Seven."
Seven mirrored Janeway's teary expression. "You, too...Kathryn."
#j7#janeway/seven#uhhhhh#firewall spoilers#I GUESS???? though like....what does this exactly spoil hmm???#anyways im IGNORING those two passages (if youve read - you probs know what im talking about) and im going to live in my little hut of mud#and im making these two kiss and kiss and kiss and kiss in my mind thank YOUUUUU

Ohh he and amelia as best pals doing crime... oh i love. oh yesss... the potential Such a shame Seskas dead or u could have her and Kathryn team up in a VERY reluctant alliance to go find their rebellious kids. (maybe somehow can bring her back... like an alt. timeline seska... for the drama) 😘🤣 jk u do what calls to u.
NONE OF THIS IS HECKING “CANON”!!!!!!!!!!
when I’m feeling REALLY quirky hypothetical with au I think about Like aged up kiddos Like Adult age Like Philippa and Edward out in the delta quadrant?????? Searching for their sister and what all they’d stumble across and recollect from their childhood Voyage out there (i don’t think id draw on THEIR recollection outside of the last season because they were only five lol and that’s REACHING) you could also pull from prodigy or the first splinter timeline stuff (beyerverse) but definitely dealing with some of the repercussions of voyagers Transactions
I’ve like NEAR THE BEGINNING OF THE AU wanted to use seskas son as a rival of sorts,,,,,, I think he’d easily rise to power given hes part cardassian and smart and also bullied for being a halfbreed and everything and takes advantage of the kazon by using his wits and proves he’s great at outsmarting opponents blahblahblah USUAL ANTAGONIST STUFF,,,,,,, you could also theorize culluh wouldn’t LET the other lads be mean to his halfbreed son So alternatively hes super spoiled and inherits power idk!!! But I was thinking Ed would have had previous interactions with him given Ed lives in the DQ???? And they don’t like each other but I feel like they’d have some ambiguous energy between them hahaha.
I’d also thought about ummmmmmm utilizing borg baby Rose all grown up and maybe giving a silly excuse of her having hyperthymesia or something either from having been borg or maybe a species trait or maybe individualistic to her! But her finding and recognizing THEM and it takes a minute for it to click,,, but itd be funny cute if she became like their substitute sister while they find Amelia lol, and she could navigate them through the DQ,,,,,, but I bet Rose would wanna go back with them to find Janeway :3 shed Be an adult by this time as well so it’s not TOO horrible for her to want to depart from her biological family and everything. I think she’d just wanna thank kathryn maybe join starfleet for all that they did for her. Idk if her name would still be Rose but in this hypothetical I supposed shed REMEMBER being called that :D
Another fun evil hypothetical id wanted to approach was a VERY INDULGENT Neelix/klingon lady in Prophecy???? Next gen :) Neelix wouldnt know about it, itd Be in the circumstance of philippa and Ed finding the Klingons out in the DQ and there’s this gal on the ship there whos weird for klingon standards and super happy and loves cooking and smiles all the time and laughs when she growls and has whiskers and bkahblhabkbalh. But like NONE OF THEM say shes A halfbreed. The idea being her mother scares everyone into accepting her as klingon or she’ll kill them lmao. And eventually they’d wriggle the truth out of the mother that her daughter is neelixs and subsequently half talaxian. :)
#i heart ur ideas so much#threshold au#i love u back baylie#also if u draw more adult next gen like fic writer muse will go bananas for it#also would amelia see rose as like replacing her / better daughter for kathryn janeway#crunchy au thots

9 Best Foods That Help Fight Depression
By Kathryn Strickland, RD | Registered Dietitian January 3, 2023
Depression is a mental health disorder that is characterized by persistent spells of low mood, sadness, and disinterest that negatively impacts your personal, professional, and social life. This poor quality of life can even reduce your lifespan by causing premature mortality.
Depression stems from a combination of factors that can be biological, social, or psychological in nature and can cause mental distress in different ways. (2)
Some of these factors such as your lifestyle choices are controllable, whereas others such as genetics are beyond your control. The controllable factors can be managed to improve overall mental health and reduce the risk of depression, and a lot of research is being conducted on this topic in recent times. (3)
There is no cure for depression, but it can be managed through medication and mental health counseling combined with the recommended lifestyle changes. Your diet can also play a role in fighting depression and improving your overall mental well-being.
Foods to Fight Depression Here is a list of foods that have shown to positively impact brain health and mood and, therefore, may prove helpful in managing depression.
Green tea frequent green tea intake can benefit those with depression Frequent green tea intake may benefit those with depression if consuming more than 3 cups a day. This may be possibly due to its high content of polyphenols, which is a micronutrient that can lower stress levels in the body, and/or due to theanine, an amino acid that can help protect the brain and make it function properly. (5) Green tea may also help fight depression due to other factors such as being in a social environment, having a healthier lifestyle, or reducing stress while preparing and consuming the tea. The research is still unclear what aspect of drinking green tea fights depression.
Salmon eating salmon can help with depressive symptoms Salmon is high in omega-3 fatty acids, which can help with depression symptoms by increasing positive mood. Correlation studies have seen a decrease in mental disorders when there is an increase in fish consumption. (6) This may be due to the high content of DHA in salmon or another factor. Research is still looking into the best way to help increase a positive mood with DHA or supplementation.
Dark chocolate eating dark chocolate can help elevate your mood Many people like eating dark chocolate, and the good news is it has been shown to potentially reduce stress levels, just not elevate the mood. (7) So, enjoy eating dark chocolate to reduce stress – just don’t expect it to fight depression.
Eggs egg consumption can help in your fight against depression Can an egg a day keep depression away? That is debatable according to research. One study showed that eggs helped to fight depression possibly due to the B vitamin content of eggs, while another showed that eggs had no effect on depression possibly due to their cholesterol content. (8) It is unlikely that one food item could aid against depression. However, it is possible that eggs along with other dietary choices such as consuming more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains may help relieve depression. (9)
Bananas bananas can help people with depression feel better Bananas are high in fiber and potassium, and research has shown that people who eat bananas feel better. (10) This correlates with another study that showed individuals perceived a decrease in depression symptoms after eating a banana. Whether or not bananas can alleviate depression symptoms, it seems clear that people feel better or even happier after eating bananas. (11)
Avocado avocados can help fight against depressive symptoms Avocados have the potential to fight against depression due to their magnesium content. (12)
Blueberries blueberries can help elevate your mood Blueberries are full of antioxidants and can elevate the mood. (13) It’s unclear if this small superfood can help fight depression, but an elevated mood is much better than a negative one.
Spinach Spinach is a leafy green that should be eaten by the majority of the population. It is high in iron and calcium, (14) and it has the potential to boost your energy levels by preventing iron deficiency. At this point, the research is unclear if spinach can fight depression, but again it can improve mood.
Asparagus eat asparagus to help prevent depression and boost your mood Asparagus is another vegetable that when eaten can improve and elevate your mood. (15) This effect is likely due to its high folate and tryptophan content. Tryptophan gets converted to serotonin, a neurotransmitter that is known to elevate mood. (16) Again, there needs to be more research to determine if asparagus can fight against depression. However, given its high content of folate, tryptophan, and fiber, asparagus is a good vegetable to eat regularly.
What other lifestyle changes should be made to fight depression?
Adopting a Mediterranean diet, which consists of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fish, promotes anti-inflammatory effects in the body. This is important as a pro-inflammatory diet high in refined carbs, sugar, and saturated fat can lead to more depressive symptoms.
Exercise should also be included in the fight against depression. Research has shown only a modest effect of exercise on elevating a person’s depressive symptoms. However, exercise can also increase heart rate and increase blood flow throughout the body. (20)
Final Word
The foods you eat affect your brain health, so you have to be mindful of your dietary choices. Eating right can help reduce the risk and severity of depressive episodes, but it is only a small part of the treatment approach.
Depression is multifactorial and should be treated as such, which means that you should examine your eating habits, physical activity, stress levels, social life, professional life, and need for professional help including medication if needed. (21)
Be aware of the barriers to change as depression can make people less motivated to change lifestyle habits or seek professional help.

Sad Banana Goes to the Movies Valentine's Day Special
This one's going to be a little different from my other posts in that rather than focusing on the film, I want to talk more about the experience surrounding me seeing it. In other words, this is going to be me talking about How I Spent My Valentine's Day. I apologize to those who are disappointed in not getting a review/analysis of Cruel Intentions. That day will come, but that is not today.
On Wednesday, I went to work in the morning. They had a bunch of cookies and brownies and cupcakes, and I treated myself to a few. I then went grocery shopping after the end of my shift (it was only four hours long because I'm not full time), went home, then heated up some meatloaf and scalloped potatoes for me and my mother to have for lunch.
A few hours before the movie started, I went to the bookstore located just a short walk away from the theater. I bought a copy of Dune because I had never read it before and was curious as to the recent hype around the franchise. (To make a long story short, I am only two chapters in and I Love It). I then purchased a coffee drink at the bookstore cafe, thumbed through some magazines, and then it was off to the movies.
The cinema in question was holding an event where you picked a classic movie (The Notebook or Cruel Intentions) and then are served a full three-course meal while watching it. I picked the latter because as a single, what better way to celebrate this holiday than watching a bunch of horrible people be entertainingly awful? Normally, I don't go to these types of events because of how expensive they are, but I felt like splurging for once.
Inside the theater, each seat had a black rose (screenings for The Notebook had red roses). Two other guests bought me some movie candy and I thanked them profusely. The appetizer was a charcuterie board that had some pimento green olives on it, and out of curiosity, I decided to taste one. I concluded that I preferred olives in oil form and ate most of the appetizer.
The movie itself was pretty funny, and the two leads are hilariously evil. I adored Sarah Michelle Gellar's performance as Kathryn in particular. I'll definitely see it again.
As for the rest of the evening, I had pasta with vodka sauce and then a brownie affogato sundae for dessert. Many others in the theater had alcoholic beverages with their meal, which I declined since I am not a drinker (nothing religious or moral - I just don't like the taste of alcohol).
When the movie ended, I went home to relax and get ready for bed. Would it have been nice to have a romantic partner to share the holiday with? Probably. But it's also nice to spend Valentine's giving yourself some TLC.
See you at the movies!
Next Time: Dirty Dancing

Sea Princesses English Voice Actors - Where are they now?
(pictured: Voice actors following the recording of the first episode of Sea Princesses, Lost. Back (left to right): Olivia Pigeot, Mary-Ann Henshaw, Isabella Dunwill. Front (left to right): Alex Cook, Di Adams, Paige Walker, Jacqui Lofgren, Katherine Cohn.)
You can manipulate the world and use AI that's as close to real life all you want, you'll never get all the original actors and voice actors of your favourite shows back to reprise their roles on something as large of a scale as Kisekae Insights.
The voice actors who worked on Sea Princesses are rather unknown outside of Australia and some of them have moved on to different roles, both in and out of the industry. Sure, I can say that everyone came back to reprise their characters in my personal project, but where are they now in real life? Let's take a look at where the voice actors of Sea Princesses are now, nearly 20 years after the first book was released in Brazil.
For brevity, I won't be covering any credited voice actors who are still predominately acting in Australia. Bolded roles are confirmed while italicised roles are speculated through observation and/or deduction.
Isabella Dunwill – Polvina
Known for her role as Geri Hallett in the soap opera Neighbours, Isabella Dunwill would voice Amy in the 2011 3D revival of Bananas in Pyjamas. In 2016, she would become the manager of the Melbourne campus of her alma mater, the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). Most recently in 2020, she participated in Miss Chess' Christmas song, Happy Jolly Very Extra Merry Christmas, released following the second lockdown in Melbourne.
Katherine Beck – Ester
Credited as Katherine Cohn and not to be mistaken for Australian actress Kathryn Beck (a mistake I made way too many times in the early days of my personal project), Ester was Katherine Beck's first voice role in Australia. She would continue to be featured as a voice actress in other Australian cartoons and advertisements over the coming years. Katherine Beck currently works as an American accent voice coach and also hosts two podcasts, namely The All American Actor's Podcast and The Voice of Your Brand.
Paige Walker – Tubarina
Like Katherine Beck, Paige Walker currently works as an American accent voice coach, though she has performed as an aerialist in various circuses. Tubarina was Paige Walker's only voice role. She has recently appeared as a guest on the Two Unemployed Actors podcast with host Max Belmonte.
Matthew Whittet – Hugo
Although Matthew Whittet continues to be featured as an actor in Australian productions, he has worked extensively in theare and has also written some productions of his own as well, including Girl Asleep and two episodes of the 2022 Netflix reboot of the Australian soap opera Heartbreak High. He also voiced Charlie the Monkey in the 2011 3D revival of Bananas in Pyjamas.
Shannon Murphy – Tata
As cited in her interview with Matthew Eles of Cinema Australia, Tata was Shannon Murphy's only voice role that she took up while studying to be a director at NIDA; a friend asked her if she wanted to be on Sea Princesses since she still had a bit of an American accent after coming back from the US. Shannon Murphy predominately works as a director on various Australian productions.
(there was also the yogurt incident of 2020 with her then-husband, Dan Wyllie who voiced Marcello, which he was found not guilty of and Murphy was found to not be "an impressive witness". Aussie Amber Heard much?)
Jacqui Lofgren – Leia, Delfi, Lia
Jacqui Lofgren has had no other acting or voice roles before or after Sea Princesses. Having practiced in physie (an Australian dance style combining ballet, aerobics, gymnastics, contemporary and modern jazz) since the age of 4, Jacqui Lofgren currently teaches at North Sydney Physie & Dance. In 2015, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education (Primary) from Macquarie University.
Meaghan Davies – Elektra, Angelica (S1)
While she may not necessarily be a "star talent" as Liamasterink described her, Meaghan Davies has been in productions between Australia and the US. She has voiced Megan in Tracey McBean, Tomasina in Bananas in Pyjamas and most recently, Annabelle in the Nickelodeon/Netflix series Sharkdog alongside Dee Bradley Baker and Kari Wahlgren.
Hannah Schofield – Juli, Jessi (S1)
Aside her previous role in an episode of the 2002 series Don't Blame the Koalas, Sea Princesses is Hannah Schofield's only other credit. Unfortunately it has proven impossible to locate her on other platforms, thus a screenshot of Juli and Jessi is used here.
Alex Cook – Matilda, Vivi
Famous for her breakout role as a child actress in the pay TV drama Love My Way as Lou Jackson, Alex Cook has also appeared in other Australian productions. She was also a producer in a number of shorts before becoming a theatre agent for Mollison Keightley Management.
Keith Buckley – Shark King, Octopus King
Also known as Keith Alexander, Keith Buckley previously voiced John Tracy in addition to narrating the 1968 film Thunderbird 6. During the 60's and 70's, he has also had roles in UK dramas such as Joe 90, The Secret Service and UFO. After moving back to Australia, he has featured in local productions (including Bernard the Dog in the 2011 3D revival of Bananas in Pyjamas) and does various narrations and voiceovers for documentaries and advertisements. Recently, he was also a guest on The Gerry Anderson Podcast.
He is not to be mistaken for the English actor Keith Buckley, who died in December 2020.
Mary-Ann Henshaw – Octopus Queen, “Jaune” (Lost), Marli, Camarina, Elektra (S2)
(screencap taken from The Summer of 77, 2001)
Mary-Ann Henshaw's only other role in Australian children's television was Amy in the original Bananas in Pyjamas from 1992 to 2001. After Sea Princesses, Mary-Ann Henshaw was never featured in other productions nor was she locatable on other platforms, so any recent news on her is unknown.
Olivia Pigeot – Miss Marla
While Olivia Pigeot continues to feature in Australian productions, she has also been a yoga teacher and in 2019, founded Bondi Kids Drama, offering classes and workshops for primary school children in drama and short film.
Robina Beard – Starfish Grandmother
From the 60s to the 80s, Robina Beard was best known as Madge the Manicurist in Palmolive ads for Australia and New Zealand. She has appeared in various stage and TV roles and in 2018, published a book titled My Life – Your Soaking In It. In January 2011, she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for her service to the arts before receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Australian Dance Awards in July that same year.
John Leary – Caton
In addition to his roles in television, film and theatre, John Leary hosts The Saturday Quiz podcast where he asks guests questions from the quiz in The Saturday Paper.
Jamie Croft – Caramelo, Mr Bernardo (S2)
As a child actor, Jamie Croft played Billy Moss in the Australian soap opera A Country Practice and Fred Kelman in the 1995 Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers movie. Later on, Jamie Croft transitioned from acting to being a music producer and event manager, eventually becoming the manager to singer-songwriter Harrison Storm (according to his LinkedIn profile).
So from the credited cast of Sea Princesses, who would be most likely to reprise their role if there were to be a revival or reboot? Well, I think it would be easier to ask who would be unlikely to reprise their role, and that list would include Shannon Murphy, Jacqui Lofgren, Hannah Schofield, Mary-Ann Henshaw and Jamie Croft. But hey, in my personal project, who cares about availability? As long as they aren't dead, I can say that they "reprised" their roles all I want. Well, except for a few times in the past, but that's the exception rather than the rule.
