born in nevada, her parents first met thanks to a chance encounter while her mom was traveling & researching for an upcoming book. nancy was an unexpected surprise in their lives, but fast-forward five years and they were sealing the deal, getting hitched in new york where her mom had the gaudy, mega wedding of her dreams.

as an only child, she’s never been super aware of how spoiled she is. doted upon by wealthy grandparents throughout her childhood, running amok in the streets of nyc with her friends all during her teens, and never getting a lecture beyond “you’re grounded!” definitely made nancy feel a little bit like she could get away with murder.

should she ever find herself stuck in Deep Shit ??? well duh, call daddy to save the day!!

she rolled hard with her rebellious streak and refused to acknowledge that there might be “““consequences””” to her ““actions,”” instead taking full advantage of her parents’ combo leniency & constant bickering to sneak out at every turn.

during her junior year, however, nancy was in a minor car crash that resulted in a quick knee surgery and a blossoming love for painkillers.

she milked her oxy script for all that it was worth and her new habit didn’t go entirely unnoticed -- mrs. wright pushed nancy through months of physical therapy appointments, dragged her across the finish line of high school graduation, and then dumped her directly into rehab with the ultimatum to either get clean or be cut-off.

kinda a no-brainer decision, but only the beginning of a snowballing problem

she could get sober in a cushy facility, find her zen during months of therapy, and think up as many master life plans as she wanted, but back in the Real World? where all the choices were ultimately her own? well... nancy sure did like getting high, even if it meant finding cheaper, quicker fixes as time went on

it was her mom who once again caught on, somewhere between rehab stay #2 and #3, and forced nancy onto an even shorter leash by moving her directly into the guestroom of her penthouse, hoping to cut the cycle short and stop her from treading water forever.

no booze, a ban on visitors, and the constantly buzzing presence of her mom...... it shouldn’t have been that big of a surprise when she ran away. literally.

finding out that a friend was visiting family in los angeles, nancy jumped at the chance to tag along. she packed up as much of her stuff (and her moms jnsdkm) as she could before getting outta dodge, making a brief pitstop at her dad’s place to leave her dog in his care and a vague note to assure her well-being.

it’s been two months since she settled in silver lake, renting a crappy little one bedroom at oasis & securing a waitressing gig, and a tentative ten months since she dipped her toes into the opioid pool.

always picking up random hobbies to try and keep herself busy, though they rarely last. the latest is tie dye and bleaching clothes, so you can bet that she has a lot of random shit hanging from her apt balcony to dry

frequents trader joe’s only to let her fresh produce rot while she chows down in-n-out.

nancy has taken a lot of random college/online courses at her parents’ urging over the years -- accounting, sociology, interpretive dance -- but nothing that adds up to a full degree

lowkey desperate to prove her independence, but could probs use a roommate at some point?? nancy’s not used to living solely on tips skmdjsnm

biography.

a middle child belonging to christopher and imogen carmichael - two stanford professors. christopher specialized in british literature whilst imogen specialized in the classics. hence the name.

the order of siblings goes as such: lysander, elektra, juno, philomena, and twins orion & valora. the deal was that everybody had a greek (or in juno’s case, roman) first name and a middle name inspired by a piece of british literature circa 1800s and under. a family of nerds, if you will.

so, clearly - right off the bat, their parents are … eccentric. they’re both in love with their respected topic, and with each other, and with their kids. the carmichael family is a happy family.

they each have their own quirks and whatnot - though philly’s always been particularly dreamy - even as a child, she’d spend hours watching clouds or caterpillars or the leaves blow in the wind rather than play with other kids. she wasn’t a shy kid - she just had her own interests.

hardship doesn’t hit the family until philomena is five and starts having splitting headaches. they’re slow at first - but as soon as she’s seeing spots and unable to walk in a straight line, doctor appointments are made.

it doesn’t take long for them to discover the tumor, though the official diagnosis of malignant ependymoma comes a month later.

it’s grade ii but slow-moving, small enough to not be as much of a threat as worried, but big enough where removal is necessary. philomena earns a scar and brings it in for show-and-tell. for two months afterwards, philly’s at radiotherapy monday through friday.

they’re lucky - philomena’s considered cancer-free by the next year. she’s babied at first - handled delicately, as if she could break if touched - but with five other children … it doesn’t last for too long.

and life continues as normal.

her personality doesn’t shift much over the next few years - she’s awfully independent for a kid, and awfully quiet - when she speaks it’s about faeries and bigfoot, about how the sky is so blue and if you listen quietly, you can hear the leaves whisper their secrets to each other. this is not odd.

she’s close to all her siblings, but she idolizes her older sister - elektra. elektra’s six years older and dyes her hair whatever colors she wants. elektra bought a knife off a seedy guy downtown. elektra threw away all of her heels and renounced god. elektra is god. her music is loud but it’s not heavy - it’s florence and the machine.

they’re opposites - elektra’s boisterous and feels loudly, philomena’s softer and feels…less. when elektra sneaks out, philomena keeps watch. they are a duo.

philomena is smart - but she’s fifteen and hates school. hates sitting inside all day. hates the same routine - day after day - it’s all the same. her parents’ routine is the same, philly feels contained and she wants to live.

elektra’s twenty-one and just bought a brand new spanking (used but not falling apart) 19-something volkswagen … van - using her entire savings account. she says she’s tired of routine, she’s leaving the next day.

naturally, philomena stows away in the back and isn’t discovered until they’re two states away and she’s got to pee. elektra nearly crashes the van in shock.

it’s an argument - philomena vs. elektra, then them vs. their parents, then their parents vs. the school, the state - it’s an ordeal. philomena switches to an online program in the end.

it hurts christopher and imogen - lysander’s not having any of their nonsense, juno’s betrayed and alone - the twins are twins. in the end, it’s alright. the carmichael family is a happy family.

philomena and elektra take their time - it’s not a road trip, it’s their new life, permanently on the road. they stop and explore often - they do odd jobs in whatever town they settle in. they dine-n-dash, they shoplift. they survive in their own way.

during particularly desperate times, they two resorted to identity theft & credit fraud - getting away with it only by ditching the cards once they’ve made it out of state.

she drops out of high school officially when she’s seventeen - they have to drive all the way back to california to deal with the wrath of their parents and to deal with paperwork, but it’s done. philomena doesn’t know what path she wants in life - but it’s not that.

it’s during this time that the episodes occur - philomena’s outside her body, philomena’s wrapped in cotton, her memories are not her own. she’s looking in the mirror and she doesn’t recognize herself. they take shelter in a city for six months, long enough for her brand spankin’ new therapist to figure out what’s wrong with her. she’s diagnosed with depersonalization / derealization disorder - they think it’s stress. philomena doesn’t get stressed. they think it’s trauma. she laughs - she never laughs.

there is trauma though, deep-rooted but somewhere inside - you just have to look for it.

you were ten and she was thirteen, an off-trail hike in familiar woods in a familiar town, safe and familiar. it was your idea, to stray from the carved out paths, down creeks and up hills and round, and round again. you’re the one who spotted the scarf first, sticking up from the dirt and dancing in the wind like the beginning of reincarnation. it was not reincarnation, it was discovery. it was ruin. with curiosity drawn, you skidded down - with compliance, followed juno, followed your sister - clumsy in her steps and tumbling down quicker than you. you saw the corpse, but juno felt it. decaying flesh and maggot.

and she left juno, just like that - just five years later, when juno had finally gone to the end of her wits. philly up and left. abandoned her.

philomena and elektra leave the city after that therapy session. they do not return. she’s always been good at hiding her secrets.

three years later and her parents want philly to have a higher education - desperate for it, really - worried for her future. it’s a battle that she loses, getting her GED and applying to a local college in florida in shameful compliance.

they’re there for a year until philly gets (expectantly) expelled from the community college & the two of them are banned from the town they’d residing in up until that point. they don’t talk about it - but boy, was it one hell of a time.

they found refuge in lovell, a town that seemed to suit them well - it suited elektra’s desire to travel up and down the east coast, and it intrigued philomena enough to the point of her being content with staying. soon after, philly officially transferred to radcliffe for the fall semester & they’ve been here since!

personality.

she’s quiet but she’s confident - her voice sounds like rustling leaves, if leaves smoked a pack of cigarettes a day.

often underestimated - philly’s petite and looks like she’d fall over if a plastic bag blew too close to her. she’s independent - for the most part. elektra is the only person philly takes orders from.

has always been considered odd - weird, strange. still talks about the trees as if they’re listening, as if they’re old friends. she’s vague and doesn’t elaborate on the things she says.

believes in pretty much any superstition you throw her way. luck is very important to her. if you ask her if the earth is flat, she’ll say probably. believes strongly in bigfoot and the lochness monster. has personally seen aliens, and loves ghosts almost more than herself.

she can be amusing - whether you ‘get’ her or not, her outlook is often bright - she talks about the negatives the same way she talks about the positives. can be seen as naive or gullible, but she’s plenty smart. even if half of her education has come directly from google.

philly doesn’t laugh. a smile, yes - often, in fact - not always reaching her ears, or bearing teeth - but these are not indicators of her happiness. philly is consistently content. she thinks many things are funny - she still will not laugh.

her voice is often monotonous - she doesn’t sound dreary, she sounds far-away. her voice carries. her emotions are often unknown to others.

is apathetic in most situations. she’s hard to bother - she’s incredibly patient and enjoys the company of most - tolerates them at the very least. it’s hard for her to express her emotions, because she feels them so little that it’s very nearly not worth it. her affection is not verbal - it’s small touches and gestures of kindness, love in her own way.

is a fan of knock-knock jokes and bad puns. she won’t crack a smile while telling you them, nor does she expect you to laugh. she just enjoys them.

she owns a motorola razr covered in puffy stickers - hasn’t ever had a smartphone. she’s a fan of emoticons. her favorite is :o)

has a lot of bruises and scratches and scars - she’s often getting herself into pickles. there are always, at the very minimum, three bandaids on each hand.

she has insomnia, so she’s awake often. is often seen wandering town - even when she shouldn’t be, even when it might be dangerous. her intuition is delayed. when she does sleep - her dreams are vivid and fantastical.

keeps a box of memories - sentimental bits and pieces she’s picked up over the last few years. there are a lot of buttons and postcards, but any teeny tiny object will do.

her style changes every week - most, if not all, of her clothes are thrifted. one week she’s baby spice and the next she’s lydia deetz. she combines pieces from different styles often - she looks like a barbie clothed by a child. she feels most comfortable like this.

will either patch-up the clothes that get too worn or reuse them in some way. sometimes donates the clothes she gets tired off - isn’t minimalistic, but she’s learned to keep only a small amount of possessions.

the only consistency is her lucky ribbon - it’s pastel yellow and silky and as thin as a shoelace. she ties it onto her outfit of the day, everyday. if she loses it, she’s lost. elektra has a matching ribbon.

has no problem with minor theft - she only takes bare minimum, puts herself and elektra first and that’s how it’s always been. she tries to be good while in lovell / radcliffe - would hate to be forced out by mobs with torches and pitchforks

currently living in noland while elektra stays in their van, florence - sometimes philly stays there during the weekends.

they used to live in motels on the occasion, the cheapest room, and more often than not they’d both go home with strangers for a comfier bed and a hotter shower.

it was a common occurrence - she didn’t sleep with them - but somehow, she weaseled her way into their homes anyway. has come out mostly unscathed, on most occasions. this has been a practice ever since they’ve been on the road.

really, truly - has not slept with anybody, had her first and only kiss at thirteen with a frog. this doesn’t bother her.

will consume a n y t h i n g you put in front of her - isn’t picky.

listens to whatever they’ve picked up along the way but she likes instrumentals the best. her second favorite genre is 1990′s and 2000′s top hits. they’re nostalgic for her. third favorites? florence, of course. fleetwood mac. the bird and the bee.

loves storms - will go out in the rain and will risk her life for it.

owns a pair of roller-skates and is often skating rather than walking. unless she’s on grass - then she’s walking barefoot.

has many hobbies, and gets bored of them often. her favorite hobby is welding. she’s not certified.

the kind of girl who’ll do any job you give her. odd jobs are her favorite jobs. babysitting is her least favorite - but she does it anyway. has lost children before. have they ever been found? not by philly.

dyes her hair blonde often and cuts her own hair - bangs included - finds it cathartic, likes the itchiness of bleach.

everything she does is often in pursuit of feeling free, alive, and meaningful.

( like her frequent visits to the woods, late at night when the moon is high and full. it’s freeing to dance around a fire, stark naked in the cold. builds immunity )

comes and goes wherever she pleases, nothing & nobody can stop her (besides elektra). has befriended the campus witch, or as much as the witch will allow, and shrike as well. she knows to respect nature, and abandoned sites - she’s practically free to explore as she wishes, her only pride is the trust she’s gained.

the trust expands to animals as well, she has a certain knack for getting them to like her. has too many ‘pet’ rats that reside with her, alongside a baby raccoon & a few crow pals. has a new animal companion everyday, but she doesn’t contain them or force them to stay.

leaves her window in noland wide open because of this, because her window is conveniently right besides a tree with sturdy branches. good for animal smuggling, sneaking in and out, hiding, etc. etc. world is her oyster.

though her room in noland is ??? frankly a mess ??? already ??? usually keeps most of her possessions in her memory box but she’s also turned her room into a mini labyrinth of knick-knacks. very cozy, but very nest-like. think of howl’s room from howl’s moving castle.

wanted connections.

random encounters... it’s only her second semester at radcliffe, she hasn’t met everybody yet i’m sure

random encounters...in the wild... alternately, people she’s met before in a different part of the country. whether she’s stolen from them or crashed at their place, or simply shared a dinner. anything goes!

unexpected sleepover... someone whose place she crashed at after a mysterious night. a party, adventure, etc. etc. maybe they don’t even remember her staying over, maybe she hadn’t been with them to begin with.

employers... she does a lot of odd jobs! knows how to make a lot of things in many different mediums just to earn a small living.

friends... y’know ... people who enjoy her presence, likes her oddness. they may not understand her, but they appreciate her. or maybe they do understand her, in their own way!

not friends... philly doesn’t consider anybody an enemy in the slightest, but some people may not be fond of her ... think she’s a little too strange, or they refuse to understand her, or something of the likes.

closing in... someone trying to get closer to her, trying to figure her out on a level deeper than what she would like, and she keeps slipping out from between their fingers every time.

mom friend mom friend mom friend... older sibling figures! dad friends! take one look at philly and instantly want to swaddle n protect her.

caught red handed... someone catches her stealing or about to dine-n-dash. do they care? who knows!

late-night shenanigans... they just walk and talk at night ... very relaxing ... not actually very shenanigans filled...

a dealer... because she wasn’t born on 4/20 for nothing. she’s not turning 20 on 4/20/20 fr nothing. don’t fail us.

debating conspiracies... or superstitions, really anything. maybe they’re frustrated at her apathy surrounding all situations.

so basically since they are a big group i think it would be best for loona to function in a similar way to seventeen and wjsn

lowkey ban the whole subunit thing now kajflsdkfj subunits are part of their predebut era and i think they should stay there since they are making subunits seem more significant in loona without bringing the backstory thats suppose to come along with it (seventeen and wjsn have units but they dont rlly push it like how bbc has done with loona)

get rid of the assigned posing (even tho its kinda smart at some points) i think its stupid and awkward that the girls always have to be in that position and it seems more of an inconvenience

also like way back i made a post abt this but idk if its still on this blog but for the assigned posing spots i concluded that basically heejin is always in the middle bc shes center, kim lip acts more of a leader so shes in the middle, and yyxy are also in the middle since they are considered the most popular subunit

the whole script/uniform thing with loona needs to go i h9 it so much its so unnatural - which includes having the same uniform but diff colors for performances (its so cute but for like only a week tho) , letting the girls wear more casual clothes when they do variety shows, radio shows, otw to music shows, etc instead of the obvious coordinated outfits (which also make them look like they wear the same thing to every event), letting the girls post whenever they want on ig (like how red velvet do) and not have their captions look obviously edited by staff, and more that i cant think of all the top of my head

!!!!! i want bbc !!! to not be afraid !!! to break routine/consistency/uniformity !!! they are a company that should always be finding what is in best interest of the group !!! and they should try to work with other ppl !!!! outside of their already established bubble !!!

even tho i love loona’s relationship with their choreographer (they gave him notes and a cake on teacher’s day uwu) he rlly aint giving them the best choreo and it just stunts loona’s dancing potential. i rlly want them to work with wjsn’s choreographer bc they know how to do good choreo for a big group!!

when loona did seventeen’s choreo they seemed more in sync and more composed compared to when they do hi high and it just suited them more so yah!! diff choreographer pls !!!

i know as of now they are still developing the whole loonaverse and i rlly enjoy it but i hope they can stray away from it in the future for a bit and not force the whole concept of loona on just that cause then it wount let them try new things (like how exo and the whole superpowers/exo planet thing took a break in 2014/2015)

i rlly want them to work with other mv production companies!! ofc i love digipedi and digipedi has done justice for loona but i wanna see a loona mv by vm or shin heewon!!

when they release a whole album i want them to have like solos or duets or unit songs in them but instead of like our usual duets and units its different (so like instead of a 2jin duet we would get jinsoul and yves duet song and instead of a yyxy song it would be yeojin, gowon, and chuu in a song together - similar to how seventeen and exid do in their albums)

give more content!!! loona tv is nice but its only a minute long and we dont even get it everyday akdfjalsdkf so maybe a reality show or letting the girls do vlives whenever (like how fromis_9 are doing) would be rlly fun for the girls and the fans!!

2018 in review

Some of you might remember last year I made 2 posts - one detailing my 2017 in review, the other detailing goals in 2018. To start the post I’ll be listing my 2018 goals and whether I passed or failed them, and then I’ll get into non-goals of the year. But first, just a review of the year in general.

It sure as fuck was a year. Lots of highs, lots of lows. Lots of things I’m grateful I did, lots of things I regret. Probably too much for one year to process. I hope that 2019 is calmer, or at least has more positives than negatives for once.

Lose weight - at least 5kg by the end of 2018 (about 11lbs). Failed - I do not weigh 88kg, which was my goal. I did lose about 1kg.

Start working on commissions. Passed - Sort of. I’m not getting commissions currently (though I’m still taking them - Either here, or go to my Ko-Fi to request a flat colour headshot), but I did get some commissions throughout the year!

Stop being so puritan about sexual content - [NSFW - CHILDREN PLS NO READING] Passed-ish - Well, I’m less prudish than Tumblr and its total ban of lady nipples, because I recently drew an exposed titty with a nipple. Of course since Tumblr decided to go puritan, I can’t show. [okay kiddies you can read again]

Grow my hair out Passed - Didn’t cut my hair at all, now it’s about twice as long as it was.

Try either rose gold or mermaid hair Failed - I was too busy/depressed for a lot of the year to go get my hair done or dye it, so about all that’s new that’s happened is that I’ve had some of it bleached. But I really don’t mind - I think just a solid pastel colour will look nice.

Buy a new laptop Passed - It’s not a fancy laptop and is really just for word processing and internet browsing, but that’s all I really need a laptop for. Word processing, internet browsing, Spotify, and Discord. I could do the latter 3 on my phone but I prefer a keyboard and computer for it.

No failed assessments over the year’s 6 courses. Failed - I’m shit at programming anything more complex than a CYOA game, and I took a programming course I sucked at. I was good at the theory but I utterly failed the prac. I did pass the subject in the end, though barely.

Finish Danganronpa S. I’d at least like to write through the first 3 trials. Failed/Passed - I have not finished DR:S. Partly because convincing people to read it is hard. But it’s here if you want to read it. I have, however, finished the first four chapters, with Chapter 5 in the works (though my brother’s taken up noisy hobbies, which may halt progress because I work terribly with noise).

Write a Visual Novel of some description. Passed - Sort of. It was part of a university project so I kind of had to write it. It was very short, but it was a visual novel of some description. So, passed.

Finish the demo for CyBER. Failed - I totally scrapped CyBER. Mostly due to a lack of interest in my own project. Oh well.

Learn to play piano. Failed - A friend gave me his old piano for free, but it’s difficult to practice with your parents telling you “oh wow you’re so good!” because you played a few chords. I don’t exactly like empty praise, especially when I haven’t earned it.

Stream more games to my channel Passed - My YouTube audience grew twicefold in 2018 (which is good, I think I lost followers on Tumblr this year). I hope to grow it even more.

Cosplay Kirumi Tojo at Supanova Gold Coast 2018 Passed - Not only did I do a good job with cosplaying her if I do say so myself, I encountered another Kirumi at Supanova. That was awesome.

Have, in general, a good year. ... Well, like I said. It’s sure been a fucking year.

Now onto less goal-related stuff and what’s happened this year.

I’ve gotten out of the house more and into the city, and I’ve been interacting with people outside of the internet. I want to do that more but I’m still very shy and socially inept.

DEFINITELY drew more original art, especially in the second half of the year - I think minigames in the Jackbox Party Packs I bought to play with my friends helped with that, namely Tee K.O and Civic Doodle. Just being able to doodle whatever I want helps a lot, especially since I’m usually not one to enjoy doodling anything that’s not up to my standards. Also because DR:S needed OG art and I didn’t want to hire an artist when I have the skills to do it myself.

As I said, my YouTube audience grew, and as Tumblr starts sinking into the abyss, I’ll probably start focusing on it primarily. Which means more streams, more games, possibly more ASMR roleplays, and possibly even some Sims 4 films like the Sims 2 ones I used to make nearly 10 years ago.

As for tumblr - well, I got targeted by a witch hunt for a post I made criticising biphobia in LGBT+ spaces, I think it’s nearly at 40k notes (it’s since been deleted and my url changed). Lots of death threats, lots of false accusations. It’s why I took a lengthy hiatus in the middle of the year - my depression over the entire thing was horrific and it reignited my suicidal tendencies. But I’m mostly over it now.

Had to ditch ANOTHER toxic friend - Same deal as the one I ditched last year. Hard, but I’ve been better for it, and not as hard as the first one. In retrospect, this friend was a massive hypocrite and was focused on wallowing in their misery because it was the only form of validation they got.

I’m sure of where my strengths lie now in writing - I have brilliant characters, but I have the tendency to overwrite. I’ve been working to curb that. Did I mention that one of my OCs, Delawyn Fukui, got a 10/10 on an assignment I did? Because I’m super happy with that.

I now have a PS4 - well, I have to share with my brother, but still. PS4. I think the issue is just finding games I want to play on it and figuring out how to stream to YouTube from it. Bloodborne and Until Dawn are a good start.

Which shikigami is better, x or y? Is [insert shikigami name here] useful/useless?

No shikigami is better than the other and no shikigami is completely useless (except Satori and Hone Onna).

If you’re comparing to shikigami who do very similar things like Zashiki vs Oitsuki vs Kaguya, then it is important to take what context you want to use them in.

If what you’re asking is actually “who can i shrine?” then the answer - anyone you don’t plan on ever using, or dupes of shiki you have already maxed the skills of.

Are the collab shiki good? Are they worth getting?

Doesn’t matter if they’re good or ‘worth it’, the real questions here are “do you want to give up an opportunity to get a limited shikigami?” and “would you regret not getting them?”. Even if you don’t particularly want the collab shiki, you may want the shards for trading purposes.

Each of the anime collab events has 3 parts. Once the 3rd part for any of the collabs has happened it won’t come back and the trading price will gradually increase.

When will GL get Nura?

Why does CN get cool events/free stuff/certain rate-ups and not GL? I want GL to be treated the same as them!!

The majority of all events will come to GL regardless if you demand it or not. Some older events like Yamakaze super oniou are completely skipped over so GL could catch up to other servers. To compensate for that, the rewards from such events are made available elsewhere. Anything that doesn’t come to GL, or even TW&JP, is CN exclusive.

If your demands are for rate-up to be the same as CN, then surprise! GL already has the same rate-ups! (excluding the double SSR releases with rate-up for only 1 of them when the server was still new, that was GL exclusive) What you’re actually asking for is to be treated like TW/JP.

If you still really want to be treated exactly like CN and gets the same exclusives as them too, then go play on CN.

I heard this shikigami I just got/am working on is going to be nerfed and rendered useless-....

If you personally have not seen where such info is from (eg; official Onmyouji weibo or dashen/网易大神 account, ingame patch notes for CN, CN patch notes reposted on NGA forums or NGA weibo, etc), then consider anything relating to nerfs or buffs untrue.

Same goes for news about new shikigami, new skins, any brand new content in general.

I heard that the next SSR/SP is going to be...

Unless you’ve seen the leaks for this sort of info, please consider these rumours as speculation only.

To know what shikigami are potentially going to please check the unleased shikigami part of this page on the wiki, there’ll be a list of unreleased and some unconfirmed shikigami.

Is the game P2W?

You can play the game the P2W way, but it is not necessary. Being completely F2P is possible. Besides, whether you’re P2W or F2P, we’re all still be subjected to the same rng when it comes mitama stats!

Like with any game with micro-transactions; remember to spend responsibly and moderately.

What should my pvp team be?

Teams for pvp are very flexible, so as long as you know what you’re doing you could use almost anything. If you don’t, then maybe don’t do pvp yet. Go figure out what your preferred play style is, which shiki you prefer using and what synergises with them first.

If you just want to copy the current meta, then the answer is easy - spectate pvp when it’s pvp time in your server. (not tier 8 though, that has its own unique meta)

Or if you want a more specific answer, then ask this question; “my current pvp team isn’t working too well, how can I improve it?” or “how do I counter certain teams (eg, Bakejujira teams) with the shiki & mitama/souls sets I have?”.

Were the drop rates for 6* in mitama/soul 10-11 nerfed?

Unfortunately, the harsh truth is - no, you’re either experiencing some very bad rng or you only just became able to farm mitama/soul 10. If the latter, for your first few runs drop rate for mitama/soul 10 will seem great, then as time goes it seems like it gets worse and worse. That ‘worse drop rate’ is actually the norm.

Best ways to get 6* are farming mitama/soul 11, sougenbi, the goryou/totem dungeons, true orochi and exchanging orochi scales. (just for reference, mitama/soul 10 only has ~3% drop rate for 6*)

Were the rates for black daruma shards from boss raids nerfed?

Again, unfortunately, the harsh truth is - no. Please accept the fact that you are experiencing some bad rng at the moment.

Were the drop rates for memory scroll fragments nerfed?

First, ask other GL players if they are experiencing the same low drop rate as you. Second, ask CN or TW&JP players if they experienced a low drop rate during their most recent scroll event.

If the general response seems to be “yeah, drop rate feels lower than usual” then it has in fact been nerfed. This would be a perfect time to contact ingame support or complain about in the official Onmyoji discord.

I don’t have my 1st 6* shikigami but there are lower level players who already have multiple 6*s... am I progressing too slowly?

No, you’re not. Those players could be level suppressors, you could be over levelled, maybe they’re players who took the asap in “6* a farmer shiki asap!!” way too seriously.

Most people make their first 6* by level 30-50. If your level is anywhere in that range, you’re doing just fine.

Don’t worry too much about progressing too slow or fast, play the game at your own pace.

Where can I find a [insert name of some type of 3rd party tools/bots/auto-clickers/whatever]?

That’s an odd way to ask “how can I get myself potentially banned?”.

Don’t use 3rd party tools. You can get banned for using them.

If you do use 3rd party tools, then never ever post screenshots of you using them. Why? Because it’s evidence that can be used against you should anyone decide to take that proof, that you posted yourself, and report your account.

Is selling accounts ok to do?

CN accounts - yes. There’s an app/site set up especially for that and is authorised or made by NetEase. I don’t know the full details, so to know more you’ll have to ask CN players.

GL, TW & JP - no.

KR, VN & TH - probably no.

I keep seeing other player’s say “dalao” and “dalao daidaiwo“, what does it mean?

“我亲爱的大佬，请带带我” or “my dear dalao please daidaiwo” is a CN meme. In the context of Onmyouji it basically means “op player pls carry me”.

大佬 / dalao = experienced person, op player in a game 带带我 / daidaiwo = carry me

What does “african“ and “european” mean in the context of Onmyouji?

In CN the unlucky streak and full SSR collection achievements are literally called “African Onmyouji” and “European Emperor”. The terms themselves aren’t unique to Onmyouji and are commonly said in chinese gaming communities, particularly ones for gacha games.

Just because these terms are common does not make using them ok.

At the same time as ship wars probably being the main reason people don’t like AO3, it is true that AO3 does allow pedophilic fanfiction—and the reason you just explained is fascinating, now I want to look into it even more! Still, I feel like AO3 could have banned pedophilic and noncon fanfiction from the beginning, and just been very careful to not let it extend further.

The problem is censorship never just stops at one thing. Like, I'm not a free speech absolutist to defend people's right to use slurs but for fiction stuff, queer people are always the first targets. And considering there's not an insignificant about of people who legitimately consider height differences to be child coded, I don't trust the definition of "child porn" not to get stretched like taffy at the Mississippi state fair.

I do get the discomfort, though, and I spent a lot of my own youth being an asshole towards people for writing "bad" things like horrible smut or twincest or mpreg back before it was intertwined with A/B/O. It's why I can say with complete confidence that censorship is a futile endeavor at best and will only lead to people taking it underground or not tagging to avoid harrassment. And harrassing folks to that point will really hurt people who don't want to see those things, like it was 20 years ago.

But people use it to deal with trauma and censoring fiction is a bad idea . . . I really don’t know about the issue, as I have no stake in it aside from feeling queezy about it. It is one of the major reasons I’m so mixed about AO3. I guess I’m just saying that I have no idea, lol

@antis-delete-your-blogs-pls-thx is a therapist in training and their blog has a lot of better content and explaination about this. It's very much a mileage varies sort of deal and what works for one person may not work for another.

I can say people have used writing as a way of catharsis long before AO3 was founded and they'll be doing so well after AO3 too. And as you may have probably guessed, I don't subscribe to the idea some people take that one can write it but should never post it for others to see.

The only thing I absolutely wish people would think twice about is RPF about real child actors/celebs in compromising positions (all the shipping apparently broke up a real life friendship between two of those One Direction kids IIRC) and even then I wouldn't want to get the law involved to stop those.

Even for all I've written, my own personal tastes are incredibly vanilla compared with the rest of the pro-shipping community. Incest isn't my bag and Sheith is by far the largest age gap I ship in anything outside of Bleach and it's very loose aging for it's soul reapers. But Ive come to accept through much trial and error and a whole lot of slapdowns at fanfic_rants that a rising tide raises all ships (no pun intended) and fandom thrives when we all curate the experience we want. And I think most people just wanna create in peace and have a good time. ❤️

I’m neither for nor against AO3, but I feel like there are some arguments I dislike being thrown around in the discussion, so here we go:

1. You should donate to important things instead of AO3! This is a fair argument taken at face value, except that the way it’s reinforced seems to imply that donaters to AO3 don’t donate elsewhere. I don’t think so—if you were really trying to see the other perspective, you’d realize that the people donating to AO3 probably do donate to life-saving organizations, they just also donate to AO3 whenever the drive comes around. I think this is the main reason why people are butting heads, because those against AO3 seem to be assuming you can only donate to one place

Of course, I’m probably wrong and most of the people who bring up this argument don’t think so and are just saying that any donations should be given to people in need instead. The counter to that idea is simply that you don’t know where the donation is coming from—it may come from money they weren’t going to donate anyway, like their grocery bill. If they didn’t donate it to AO3, they may not have donated it at all

2. It’s not a big deal that I donate to AO3, it’s not your money! I mean, in a lot of ways yes, and it absolutely is your money, but if you’re donating to AO3 you’re showing that you care about the organization—if you only donate to AO3 and not other causes that are more urgent, that probably does say something bad about you

But maybe you only have 5 dollars, and having access to AO3 is really emotionally important to you. I’d still say you should donate elsewhere first, unless it’s the only charity you believe is actually honest in which case . . . yeah it’s hard to find a good and clear charity, but not that hard, and AO3 is probably not the most transparent on the market. Also, being that attached to a website is a something that you should seek help for

3. AO3 is evil and it’s founder is evil, so you’re evil for donating to AO3 and I hope you die! Wooooah there, err, maybe go to a psychologist? Nobody deserves to die, especially over a disagreement about fanfiction! If you think someone’s guilty of an offense that would be worthy of capitol punishment, I still disagree with you that killing is justified but okay I see your point—but over fanfiction? Also, assigning someone a moral value when for all you know this is the only thing you would consider morally questionable that they’ve ever done is, uh, not good. I’m not going to rebuff the idea that the founder or the site itself is evil, because I don’t know the whole of the situation, but I’ve seen people saying this or close approximations and I’m shocked that someone would be so willing to completely alienate those who see the whole thing as a gray issue

Just a quick note though, the reason people are saying that AO3 is evil is because there is some disgusting stuff on the website, and (apparently? I actually have no idea) some equally bad stuff their founder wrote way back in the day. If you hadn’t heard that, do your research and come to your own conclusions, please

4. No one is forcing us to donate/the government should actually be dealing with the pandemic instead of us/etc. so it doesn’t matter what we do with our money. I mean, I really disagree? It does matter what you do with your money, because, you know, basically every place in the world runs on it. Especially if you have a lot of money and you decide to throw it at AO3 instead of a local charity.

How about something that’s more middle-ground? Your favorite author probably has a ko-fi account, or some other form of donation place. If you give five dollars to them, (especially now that AO3 has reached its goal) then you’re giving money to someone who creates fanfiction and also helping someone out during the pandemic. It’s just a suggestion. After all, maybe you don’t feel comfortable using the donation center any of your favorite authors have set up—but maybe it’s something to look into if it sounds nice to you
