strahm is so compelling to me because he’s still a hero while being such a bad person in so many ways that people you just meet in your day to day life are bad people. he is not a serial killer he’s not ontologically evil he doesn’t scam dying people out of their life savings. but he is an asshole for no reason other than to make others feel stupid he’s misogynistic he’s motivated by neurotic obsession and ego he’s dismissive etc etc but he’s still so human and we as the audience get to see him reduced down to base human terror and smallness multiple times!! we get to see the construction and performance of his personality get stripped away to expose someone who’s just a man desperate to survive in spite of his circumstances and that makes the viewer want to root for him!! regardless of his motivations and day-to-day cruelty he’s just a man who wants to survive and to protect others!! and then he dies whimpering without learning ANYTHING!!!!!

They’re my sillies

I haven’t stopped thinking about them since I made them

A little bit of info about the two of them:

Souchong: She/He/They

-Is extremely lazy (I was thinking sometimes when you enter their realm you have to wake them up with a really loud phrase because they snooze 24/7)

-She talks to her dragons frequently, they don’t talk, but she’ll swear to you that they do

-Heavy tea enjoyer, sometimes he’ll bring out a cup of tea in the middle of your conversations

-Their name is based off a type of black tea called Lapsang Souchong :]

Dubia: She/Her

-She is extremely long, so long that no one knows what the end of her looks like (I’d like to think people in the grove have made theories on what her tail looks like)

-She has a speech impediment which makes her r’s and l’s sound like w’s

-Her whole realm is underwater, making it nearly impossible for some mortals to meet her (I’d think specifically for the godpoke she makes them a little bubble helmet for them to wear that gives them oxygen :] She also can’t breathe oxygen so she also wears her own bubble helmet if she were to ever leave her realm)

-She’s based off the Giant Siphonophore (my favorite sea creature :]) which are considered some of the longest animals in the world! (Her name actually derives from their scientific name which is Praya dubia)
