The Haunting of Crumbling Isle
The Ghost Gang is back in a Halloween special brought to you by FeroshGirl Studios!
Will the crew survive their investigation of Windenburg's Crumbling Isle? Or will the monsters prove to be too much? And just how many times will they get distracted by kissing each other? Paul Romeo and Sierra Moss star alongside their spouses and newcomer Thorne Bailey in a crossover featuring the crew from The Save File Chronicles.
Track(s): Shadows in the Savoy, Sleepy Head, Skeletons (KINGS + Drew Ryn) | Music provided by https://slip.stream
SFX + VFX from Footagecrate
I had so much fun putting this together, even though I kind of wanted to tear my own hair out. I challenged myself to learn Davinci Resolve instead of sticking with my beloved Final Cut and, um, it was a JOURNEY, babe, let me tell you.
I'm glad I did it, though! I mean, yes, I do love Halloween, but I also wanted to make something special for the indomitable, always fabulous @sirianasims. I love this community, and since joining, I've met so many lovely simblr friends. But I wouldn't even be here with Siri. Not only is she a patient sounding board for all my (admittedly unhinged) ideas. She's super fucking generous with all her talents and never hesitates to help me out. She is a baddie, and I'm lucky to count her as a friend.
No sims were harmed in the filming of the machinima, but they did look good as hell thanks to some incredible cc creators (@sentate, the collab by @ice-creamforbreakfast and @surely-sims, @lady-moriel and billion more things I have in my game, so pls don't hesitate to ask if you see something you like).
Also, I'm obsessed with this lot by @rheya28. I had to destroy a few things to make it spooky, but I swear, if you download it, there is no blood on the walls or cobwebs.
Ok, that's all! Happy Halloween!

Jurassic World Rebirth - Title reveal announcement
Overview
A new era is born. Next summer, three years after the Jurassic World trilogy concluded with each film surpassing $1 billion at the global box office, the enduring Jurassic series evolves in an ingenious new direction with Jurassic World Rebirth. Anchored by iconic action superstar Scarlett Johansson, breakthrough talent Jonathan Bailey and two-time Oscar® winner Mahershala Ali, this action-packed new chapter sees an intrepid team racing to secure DNA samples from the three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air. Also starring acclaimed international stars Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, the film is directed by dynamic visualist Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) from a script by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp. Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind. Academy Award® nominee Johansson plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs. When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades. Ali is Duncan Kincaid, Zora’s most trusted team leader; Emmy nominee and Olivier Award winner Jonathan Bailey (Wicked, Bridgerton) plays paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis; Emmy nominee Rupert Friend (Homeland, Obi-Wan Kenobi) appears as Big Pharma representative Martin Krebs and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer, Murder on the Orient Express) plays Reuben Delgado, the father of the shipwrecked civilian family. The cast includes Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty) and Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs. Lopez) as Reuben’s family. The film also features, as members of Zora and Krebs’ crews, Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF) and Ed Skrein (Deadpool). Jurassic World Rebirth is directed by BAFTA winner Edwards from a script by Koepp (War of the Worlds), based on characters created by Michael Crichton. The film is produced by Oscar® nominee Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, both longtime Jurassic franchise producers and of this summer’s blockbuster, Twisters. The film is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Denis L. Stewart and Jim Spencer.

Is it wrong that I honestly view customers as being as much of the problem with media consumption and their generally awful behavior towards artists?
Because for all of the bleating and righteous anger against corporations, it sometimes feels immensely performative, and them basically exonerating themselves from any responsibility for anything that THEY might have done against artists. Being cruel and nasty, hypocritically talking about artistic freedom while bullying anything that doesn’t conform to their mob bias, tendency to treat media as a product instead of art depending on their erratic interests..
I’m gonna say it, the only real difference between customers and corporations is that the latter has a systemic power backing them up, but the former is filled with people completely blinded by their own desire to avoid culpability who have internalized absolutely nothing about the evils of the system they oppose or are part of, and thus act no differently the minute they even get the smallest hint of power.
Tyranny of the powerful vs Tyranny of the crowdfunded (at best) mob.
Oh absolutely. Fans bully actors and writers horribly when given the slightest excuse, and I do mean slightest, like Kelly Marie Tran for being Asian or Laura Bailey for voicing a villain or the 18 billion examples of harrassing writers for not shipping correctly. There's a reason the "Fan Dumb" article on TV Tropes got way too big for actual examples and had to resort to classifying each individual flavor of fans being horrible to creators and each other.
And of course, Die for Our Ship has no less than 25 fandoms with their own personal examples, and "Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things" is a trivia trope for when fans got so toxic it impacted the stories themselves in some way.

Bailey's Claudia was Claudia the playful child and rebellious teenager pushing against her fathers and asserting herself as confident and capable.
Delainey Claudia we'll get to see what more of the dynamic of Claudia and Louis as siblings and equals. We only got a clip but from the " who are you without me Louis " it's obvious she's no longer trying to prove she's an adult despite her body, she is one and she's comfortable talking to Louis as her brother and not a child to parent begging and hoping he'll listen
We saw the start of Bailey's Claudia and Louis as brother and sister and how cunning she will be as a woman and how terrifying she is without ever being able to become a fully developed adult vampire. From that speech to pretending she didn't know that picture was Lestat ( she was so funny for that lmao ) and being so impossible for armand the billion yro vampire to read, in every other way she fully matured ( she is like 40 now )
Both actresses were the two top picks for Claudia for a reason, they're talented. Claudia is in a different part of her life and country, they both portrayed different Claudias so Delainey's Claudia has to be different anyway, more calculated, which is very exciting. Love to see women scheme

I would like to participate in spreading the love for Jo's not studying! I haven't read much fic recently, but I did read an absolutely fantastic smutty cowboy romance called Chasing the Wild by Elliot Rose! It's on Kindle Unlimited and it has ALL the tropes I love... age gap, forbidden romance, forced proximity, THE SMUT? I cannot recommend it enough!
I love this! thank you so much for the rec, I think lots of people are going to see cowboy and smutty romance and go YEEHAW (too much? maybe. but I have had some sweets hahah)
I have been giving recs out, and I raise you “My Killer Vacation” by Tessa Bailey. it’s fun, a little enemies to lovers kinda thing but soft, and a little bit smutty too.
love you billions!

Barbie bringing in a billion worldwide automatically puts Margot at #1, although ppl always say JLaw is the last traditional movie star so in a way im nt sure if she shuld even b on the list tbh. Im shocked margot is under 35 😅
JLaw aside, I think Margot n Timmy make sense as the top 3. Flo/Anya shuld b higher. Taylor S shuld nt b on the list 😭 shuldv replaced her with Taylor Russell. Austin shuld b in the top 10/15 bt nt sure if hes that known to b number 4. I think they shuldv replaced jacob e with barry bt im nt even sure if either is that known? It depends on ppls perpective on what a movie star is now tho
Who wuld b yr top 10?
Lol Margot has NEVER looked her age to me rofl 🤣 She's always looked older lol. I thought it was just me lol. I notice that about a LOT of Australians though. They usually look a lot older than their age. 😅
I agree, Flo should def be higher. I'll see how Anya's new film does before saying she should be higher.
I agree, Taylor S shouldn't even be on this list lol 👀, but her concert movie did do amazing last year.
I agree, Taylor Russell should be on this list.
With Austin, I'm not sure this list is so much about how well known you are (if that were the case, Tom Holland would be much higher on this list). JE isn't that well-known either and he's still at #7.
I think they took into account how well Austin's "Elvis" movie did, the number of awards he was nominated for and won that awards season, the fact that he was nominated for an Oscar, as well as the directors he's been working with and the films he's rumored to be in for his several upcoming projects. 😉
Paul is pretty high up on this list cuz he has "Gladiator 2" coming out, and he was also nominated for an Oscar.
I think Barry should be higher than JE imo. 👀 C'mon.... Barry was in "The Batman", will be playing the Joker in that franchise, has been nominated for an Oscar, and was just in "Saltburn" and the critically-acclaimed "Masters of the Air" series on AppleTV this year.
My Top 10??
I can't say which ORDER I'd put these actors in, but the ppl who I def think should be in the Top 10 are:
Margot
Zendaya
Tom
Timmy
Florence
Austin
Barry
Jennifer
Rachel Zegler
Halle Bailey
Honorable Mentions:
(If it weren't for their age, I would have also added these to the list )
Glenn Powell (believe it or not)
Kingsley Ben-Adir

(a billion thanks to @sirianasims for creating such lovely characters and letting me use them to make a completely unhinged little machinima just because I adore them)
(Also, a billion praises for the collab by @ice-creamforbreakfast and @surely-sims bc it is the perfect vibes for my Scooby-Doo knock-off completely original Halloween machinima)

the audience would like to request your thoughts on wicked 😁
oh fuck yeah let's talk about wicked
so first of all, like... 9.5/10 holy fuck? i enjoy the musical, i like the book, i love the movie. like i kept crying during it because it was just that good and my jaw was on the floor during the entire ending. it's incredibly made, it's unfortunately incredibly timely, and everything they needed to do to make it succeed happened. i'm gonna skip talking about the plot bc other people can go into it better. just go see it in theaters on the biggest screen you can.
i'm gonna eat crow and say: i had no clue john m chu could do THAT. give him whatever he wants to direct. ariana grande and cynthia erivo also totally kill it and i'm gonna full on admit that i didn't like the casting because i thought they couldn't pass as college kids. never mind! i love being wrong!
it's 2 hours and 40 minutes long but it flies by because the pacing is excellent and all the padding to stretch out the story actually works better than the musical ever did because it deepens the relationships and worldbuilding. this thing was made by talented professionals who understood how to recreate something they loved and protect its most important qualities while improving it for the medium it's been adapted for. they knew how to break it apart and expand it.
the movie is SO fucking beautiful too. the costumes were amazing. the set design is gorgeous and the vfx work so well because there's so much that's actually physically there to play off of. i'm not a musical fan, but all the songs worked for me in a way they didn't in the musical because of the way they were enhanced by not having to be sung on a stage. they fully embraced what this thing is and cranked it up to 11. and yeah the lighting was washed out in places but it isn't that much of a problem.
also i like seeing fem gaze storytelling win, and another big unabashedly feminine blockbuster winning so hard and to be extremely cheesy: watching big groups of little girls being brought to see this movie makes me very happy, and this is going to be a Foundational Movie for a lot of them. i know everyone's trying to find The Next Barbie, and i think wicked's it. i hope it makes a billion dollars and steals all of dune's oscars and the dipshits that greenlight film funding make the connection that stories that center women and their experiences can be beautifully made, loved by critics and audiences, and (because this is what they care about) super profitable.
because this thing's doing so well and it's coming on the heels of barbie, there's a pattern of big fem gaze blockbusters now, and it's going to be a little bit easier for those stories to be made and given the financial resources and creative freedom they need to be their best and the access they need to reach the most people. that is a very good thing. especially given what kind of world we're about to live in and what it's going to try to tell people about what fiction should be allowed to exist.
but i do have two gripes.
first: boq and nessarose. boq needed more screentime because i kept forgetting he had a thing for g(a)linda. would it have been so hard to put him into her posse in the first half of the movie? could you just squeeze him in next to snl guy? and nessa. given what she's going to turn into, maybe a little more of that darkness needed to be present here. they're Fine as they are. but they could have been a little bit Better. maybe they'll get a lot more to do in part 2, we'll see.
but my one big gripe with wicked is fiyero. this is like the one thing (apart from the overwashed lighting) where the movie didn't improve on the musical. like, technically it's a faithful adaptation of fiyero from the musical... but fiyero from the musical was whitewashed from his book counterpart, who was canonically dark-skinned and indigenous-coded. not correcting that feels like a massive missed opportunity. jonathan bailey was great! but someone else could've done it! this was an incredible role for an actor of color -- and a chance to dive deeper into why fiyero might be drawn to elphaba in particular (he's being othered too, just in a more fetishistic way that he deep down doesn't actually like)-- and those chances to elevate the story even more weren't taken. i think that's a shame. like, erivo's casting made the subtext of the story direct in a way that finally brings out into the open what wicked's about, and the casting of fiyero could've built on that. the fact that he didn't isn't a flaw per se, but it is a missed opportunity.

Some hot takes I’ve seen around about the little mermaid (2023) (this is not a “you must like the movie at all costs” post, you’re not bounded to like a movie but if you vocally hate it on social medias, at least give some valid reasons or else just say you don’t like it, I don’t even like all Disney remakes)
“I’ve not seen the movie but from what I’ve seen on YouTube it looks like shit” BRO WATCH THE MOVIE. You’re judging a 2 hour long movie from TRAILERS and 30 SECONDS CLIPS. You think that qualifies you to judge the quality for the whole movie? I’m sorry but no it doesn’t! Most often, lighting and effects and even the script are not even final in clips and trailers. You can say it doesn’t look appealing TO YOU, of course. You can say you’re not gonna watch it because it doesn’t look appealing, OF COURSE. But you definitely can’t say: this actor ruined the character. WITHOUT EVEN SEEING THE MOVIE
“This will never be as good as the original movie” people that’s not a competition lol… those are new versions… they’re meant to coexist with each other… You really think Disney wants you to forget about the original Ariel?? Rest assured Disney wants you to buy both dolls😂
“They’re cash grabs” Yes they are. Disney is a business and makes money by doing movies. They found a way to make easy money, which is, remakes. People watch them, wether you like or not. There’s nothing inherently wrong with them, as long as they show respect for the original movies, which some did and some others didn’t. That doesn’t automatically mean each one of them is soulless or wholly made by people with no interest other than money (Alan Menken??? Put his whole???? Heart???? In every score??????), if you just watch some interviews it’s clear most of the cast is thrilled to be a part of this and loves the original characters as well, they really wanted to do them justice! Not all of them of course, but it’s the same for EVERY! MOVIE! EVER! Actors and writers do their job, that doesn’t NECESSARILY mean the movie is soulless (again, some movie are, regardless of them being remakes!)
“The CGI looks like shit” man it’s a children movie… of course they’re not gonna put Avatar billions into the crab 3D model
“Halle Bailey doesn’t fit Ariel” I’m sorry I’m not trying to convince you otherwise😂 she looked and sounded like Ariel to me but that’s my opinion ig
“It’s forced representation” No it’s not, we’ve all seen the black children reaction videos, this means the world to them, this is literally what representation is about…
I’d say this is mostly it…
#rant i guess#my english is so off please forgive me😭#the little mermaid 2023#the little mermaid#disney#disney remakes#halle bailey#ariel
