I had so much fun putting this together, even though I kind of wanted to tear my own hair out. I challenged myself to learn Davinci Resolve instead of sticking with my beloved Final Cut and, um, it was a JOURNEY, babe, let me tell you.

I'm glad I did it, though! I mean, yes, I do love Halloween, but I also wanted to make something special for the indomitable, always fabulous @sirianasims. I love this community, and since joining, I've met so many lovely simblr friends. But I wouldn't even be here with Siri. Not only is she a patient sounding board for all my (admittedly unhinged) ideas. She's super fucking generous with all her talents and never hesitates to help me out. She is a baddie, and I'm lucky to count her as a friend.

No sims were harmed in the filming of the machinima, but they did look good as hell thanks to some incredible cc creators (@sentate, the collab by @ice-creamforbreakfast and @surely-sims, @lady-moriel and billion more things I have in my game, so pls don't hesitate to ask if you see something you like).

Also, I'm obsessed with this lot by @rheya28. I had to destroy a few things to make it spooky, but I swear, if you download it, there is no blood on the walls or cobwebs.

Is it wrong that I honestly view customers as being as much of the problem with media consumption and their generally awful behavior towards artists?

Because for all of the bleating and righteous anger against corporations, it sometimes feels immensely performative, and them basically exonerating themselves from any responsibility for anything that THEY might have done against artists. Being cruel and nasty, hypocritically talking about artistic freedom while bullying anything that doesn’t conform to their mob bias, tendency to treat media as a product instead of art depending on their erratic interests..

I’m gonna say it, the only real difference between customers and corporations is that the latter has a systemic power backing them up, but the former is filled with people completely blinded by their own desire to avoid culpability who have internalized absolutely nothing about the evils of the system they oppose or are part of, and thus act no differently the minute they even get the smallest hint of power.

Oh absolutely. Fans bully actors and writers horribly when given the slightest excuse, and I do mean slightest, like Kelly Marie Tran for being Asian or Laura Bailey for voicing a villain or the 18 billion examples of harrassing writers for not shipping correctly. There's a reason the "Fan Dumb" article on TV Tropes got way too big for actual examples and had to resort to classifying each individual flavor of fans being horrible to creators and each other.

And of course, Die for Our Ship has no less than 25 fandoms with their own personal examples, and "Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things" is a trivia trope for when fans got so toxic it impacted the stories themselves in some way.

One of the paintings I've been working on is coming together very nicely and as I've worked more on it, I've crafted some pretty intricate lore!!! And along with lore [obviously] comes ocs!!!

So the project in its entirety is titled "The Abrupt Downfall of Cryptozoology", in which a cryptozoologist finally finds what he's looking for, but isn't too elated about it [which will all make sense as I post more of the story :3 ]

Here is the main character and head cryptozoologist, Dr. Montgomery "Monty" Beckett, retired English professor from Harrisburg, PA!!! For years, he has studied creatures from legendary tales and worked tirelessly to prove their existance. Stories of mystical creatures he used to tell his daughter as a child were not ones he made up in his head, but ones he had been drawing clues from. Now, he's found pretty convincing evidence that they may exist on planet 16-RNG and he soon realizes he HAS to get there.

Assembling a crew of 12 and using money from his late wealthy father's multi-billion dollar company, he becomes the first private civilian to land on another celestial body without government help or affiliation. But none of this is important to him. In fact, his obsession with discovering these creatures has made him an unfamiliar person dwelling in the skin of his former self. It has deeply affected his life. But still, the prominent obsession inhabits the forefront of his mind, always.

He stumbles out of his crash-landed ship and tries to look ahead, but the landscape is blocked by the smoke flowing from the engines. His whole life has built to the moment this smoke clears...

Additional Lore: [I'm not gonna give too much away yet though!!!] Some of this is totally irrelevant but it's still cool.

● He used to play Guns N' Roses as he drove his daughter, Bailey, to school. He loves Guns N' Roses.

Bailey's Claudia was Claudia the playful child and rebellious teenager pushing against her fathers and asserting herself as confident and capable.

Delainey Claudia we'll get to see what more of the dynamic of Claudia and Louis as siblings and equals. We only got a clip but from the " who are you without me Louis " it's obvious she's no longer trying to prove she's an adult despite her body, she is one and she's comfortable talking to Louis as her brother and not a child to parent begging and hoping he'll listen

We saw the start of Bailey's Claudia and Louis as brother and sister and how cunning she will be as a woman and how terrifying she is without ever being able to become a fully developed adult vampire. From that speech to pretending she didn't know that picture was Lestat ( she was so funny for that lmao ) and being so impossible for armand the billion yro vampire to read, in every other way she fully matured ( she is like 40 now )

Both actresses were the two top picks for Claudia for a reason, they're talented. Claudia is in a different part of her life and country, they both portrayed different Claudias so Delainey's Claudia has to be different anyway, more calculated, which is very exciting. Love to see women scheme

I think they took into account how well Austin's "Elvis" movie did, the number of awards he was nominated for and won that awards season, the fact that he was nominated for an Oscar, as well as the directors he's been working with and the films he's rumored to be in for his several upcoming projects. 😉

Paul is pretty high up on this list cuz he has "Gladiator 2" coming out, and he was also nominated for an Oscar.

I was watching my favorite Christmas movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Mr. Potter, the film’s cranky, old, uber-rich villain serves as a fine representative of the oligarchs of the US mafia state.  In my favorite scene–one that may have helped shape my politics as a child–our hero George Bailey stands up to Mr. Potter, who is attempting to liquidate the Bailey Brothers Building and Loan, which would effectively put an end to affordable housing in Bedford Falls, the fictional small town where the story takes place. In pushing back against Potter’s mockery of the establishment’s policies, which have allowed a number of working class renters to become homeowners, Bailey delivers an iconic speech, saying:

What'd you say just a minute ago? They had to wait and save their money before they even thought of a decent home. Wait? Wait for what?! Until their children grow up and leave them? Until they're so old and broken-down that… You know how long it takes a working man to save five thousand dollars? Just remember this, Mr. Potter, that this rabble you're talking about, they do most of the working and paying and living and dying in this community. Well, is it too much to have them work and pay and live and die in a couple of decent rooms and a bath? Anyway, my father didn't think so. People were human beings to him, but to you, a warped, frustrated old man, they're cattle. Well, in my book he died a much richer man than you'll ever be.

We could really use some of George Bailey’s energy right about now. Potter is similarly useful, in an emblematic sense. After all, the Grinch and the Grinch and Ebenezer Scrooge were capable of redemption. To pretend that the oligarchs of the US mafia state can be morally redeemed would avail us nothing. They are our enemies, and they are attacking our very ability to survive. Elon Musk is a neo-Mr. Potter, operating at scale. To Musk, a warped, deluded, ego-obsessed man, we’re cattle. While many people in the United States lack a coherent political analysis, they do understand that they are being screwed. The public’s reaction to Mangione and his alleged crime make that much clear. The public celebration of Mangione is reminiscent of the fandoms that formed around Depression era bank robbers like John Dillinger. Rather than condemning people for “bloodlust” (as though the indifference to bloodletting that typically defines life in the US is somehow morally superior to applauding a single death), it is crucial that we understand Mangione’s folk hero status as a flash of class consciousness. The outrage people are feeling at insurance companies should be encouraged and expanded to include the billionaire and corporate classes as a whole. 

In fact, there is no better target for the public’s ire in this moment than the richest man in the world, who just used his multi-billion dollar social media platform to spread misinformation at scale, thwart pediatric cancer research, deprive workers of their paychecks, and make life less livable for people on reservations.

I am not advocating for violence, of course. I am not a violent person. I am an organizer. I want people to organize. Simply applauding the violence of outlaws, while potentially cathartic, will not save us (though I will admit to sharing Mangione memes with my friends, pretty much daily). What we need is a sharpened sense of who the villains in our stories are, and the will to mobilize in defense of our shared interests.
