Got any Scorch lore? I wanna hear about the awful guy 👀

I do!!

Scorch was one of the 5 guardians in the grove way back when it was first created- and generally!! He was charismatic and suave, and he was clever

They’ve never officially had or appointed a leader, but that was effectively Scorch’s role way back when

(I have a rough concept for what he used to look like :})

Somewhere along the line tho his ambitions turned dangerous

He started to view what he created as objects or weapons, things to be used or controlled- a means to an end

He started breaking rules (as an example: the guardian’s do not use anything sentient to make new monkies, because they’re already alive. Scorch breaks this rule on multiple occasions)

Eventually the other guardians caught wind of a plan- Scorch was planning on an attack, to take the grove for himself

As a counter attack, and due the the fact they can’t kill him, they sealed him away in the hopes that he wouldn’t be able to do any more harm from his prison

And long story short-!

He can and does do more harm from his prison

Even though there’s a magic seal in place over the years it begins to corrode and decay

And he manages to influence those on the outside to do what he wants

His end goal is still the same! Surprisingly sealing a guy in a cave for a couple thousand years does nothing but piss him off

Scorch is very cunning tho! And he’s patient

He’s very much willing to bide his time and let the pieces fall into place as he wants them to

Throughout the story he’s mostly just a background presence

But he’s still Very Much An Issue

I did the lineart 2 years ago and I only coloured it today

those four may suck, but their designs sure don't! care to share some deets? 👀

Sure!!

Those four are a special group of monkies commonly known as the guardians

They watch over and govern the grove (which is the area where all my funny monkies live)

They’re immortal! And pretty powerful- they’re responsible for making each and every monkey in the grove, but that’s about all they do- they don’t raise the life they create they just leave it to the community in the grove to handle that

There used to be five guardians! Now there’s only four (Scarab, Shimmer, Sun and Silk)

As a whole the group tend to have this unreasonably high standard of perfection- characters like Quinn, Atlas and Bea are often ostracised and outcast for their “imperfections” whereas characters like Capuchin are praised heavily practically Just For Existing (until he died lol)

I’d say out of the four of them Scarab is the nicest, but he’s still. Not fantastic. He does his best-! But he doesn’t stand up to the others nearly as much as he should and he lets them get away with a lot

Also! As a fun fact- all these guys started off as adopts that I couldn’t sell, I ended up keeping the designs and here we are
